Very pleasant.
Intimist
I can't tell if this is awesome because I've had a lot of dogshit lately, or if it's actually really great. Going to suspend my disbelief and give 4/5. Seems really hard to find material that makes me question my taste.
Heerlijk album, zeer ruime 4 sterren
This was very good! Definitely heard the popular ones before, but the ones I hadn't listened to before were very lovely. A few might get added to a Playlist. 7/10
pretty cool, nice n groovy. enjoyed the first song pretty well
Smackwater Jack is out of place in this album- it reminds me of 'Jig of Life' from Kate Bush's 1985 Hounds of Love album. Otherwise, really comforting easy listening, even if many of the songs are incredibly similar in style. So many recognizable songs in this album. Also, cat.
It was a hit for a reason -
Rainy day and a cup of coffee music for people that own some hemp clothing
I've seen this album cover countless times before, it always caught my attention because of the cute cat. After listening to it, I enjoyed the overall vibe with a few stand-out tracks and other tracks that were just okay. I'm sure I will own a record of this eventually. Favorite Track - I Feel The Earth Move Least Favorite Track - Way Over Yonder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great song writing, and sound from the era.
3.5
7 - GOOD
Carole King may be one of the most unsung voices in music in general as she is single handedly responsible for countless amounts of hits and other pieces of extraordinary songwriting throughout her over 50 year long career. Her words have helped plenty of artists ranging from Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes to Aretha Franklin, The Carpenters, and even Barbra Streisand. But I don't just want to talk about Carole's influence, I want to talk about her spectacular 1971 classic Tapestry. I have listened to this album previously but I won't lie it has probably been about 4 years or more since I heard it in full. After listening through this project I felt such a newfound appreciation for more lyrically dense projects as a lot of the simple borderline Folk/Rock instrumentals here serve as a beautiful platter for the word salad dishes on each track. Carole has a way of finding such simple emotions, writing them in these very interesting and sometimes complex ways, and then giving back to the audience in an extremely accessible way that makes it perfect for everyone. If you don't think Tapestry is at least a good album then you are just not looking it right because this is objectively a good project, hell maybe even a great one. Don't sleep on this album if you ever get the chance to hear it, this album is timeless and a perfect capsule of just how amazing Mrs. King was and still is to this very day.
A lot of good stuff here. I Feel The Earth Move is an all time opener. Thought some of the middle tracks lagged but you can't deny the album's impact.
Beginning was great the upbeatness of track 1 to the slower jams of 2 and 3 and then the rising of 4. Into 5. Love the sax in track 6. All in all the middle was great all the tracks have been great. 10. Reminds alot of bad bad leroy brown by Jim croce. Wasn't a big fan of 11. And 12. The end started off good but kinda got weak at the end Favorite: smackwater jack Least: tapestry
I have a little bit of history with Carole King. I had to play both It’s Too Late and Natural Woman (though we covered the Aretha Franklin version) in my first year of uni, and I really loved It’s Too Late in particular. I don’t know any of the other songs, and I’m looking forward to hearing them. • I really liked I Feel the Earth Move, it’s a really high energy song • So Far Away is also very nice, it’s a really soulful song. Carole King has an incredible voice • It’s Too Late is such an incredible song. The bass, the vocals, the solos. It’s just really solid all around • Where You Lead is great, another one of my favourites • I like how bluesy Smackwater Jack is, it’s pretty different to the rest of the album to the point that I thought it might've been a cover of an old song that she'd modernised • I don't know if this is blasphemous to say, but I like King's version of Natural Woman a LOT more than Aretha's. I really prefer the more stripped-down instrumentation over the sweeping strings of her version. Yeah I really enjoyed this album, which I kind of expected. Carole King is an incredible songwriter and vocalist and she really shows that on these songs. I wish I'd been given the opportunity to play more of her songs at uni than just It's Too Late, because they all sound like so much fun. Favourite song: It's Too Late
Carole is an incredible songwriter and I was surprised how many of these songs I recognized. I can't say I absolutely loved it but I can't help but respect it.
4 It’s too laaaatee baaaby из 5
It’s got the Gilmore girls theme. What more do you want?
Funky and chill. Gilmore girls Schöne Melodien, tolle Stimme Beruhigend, melancholisch Kenne einige Songs
Great singing and playing. Songs are well written and performed at a high level. Overall a really good album. 3.5/5 Probably will listen again
I feel the earth move: Fun song right off the bat. Very very 70s. Just a lot of fun. I like the piano and guitar. Not sure if it's my vibe per se, but it's still good. So far away: also fun, but more mellow. i like the keyboard and bass combo, and her vocals really shine through on this. It's too late: holy 70s omg. I like the split audio (vibraphone type thing on right, guitar on left, plus split vocals) I decided I'm not going to do individual notes on this one, because there isn't anything crazy to say about imo. It's very cohesive, and it's fun but there isn't much more to say about it than that. i don't really super like 70s music on it's own. I might add some of the songs to a preexisting playlist, but I just don't emotionally connect with it really. I liked because way over yonder kind of slaps. Her voice is really beautiful in this, and I love the slow power ballad feel of it.
I just cant get a read on this album. I dont know what to give it. There are some good tunes here. You just call, out my name, and you'll know, whereever I am, ill come running and running... nah that stuff is catchy. I like that.
Lovely, soulful album Her voice reminds me of Joni Warm and comforting
Album 131. Tapestry (https://open.spotify.com/album/12n11cgnpjXKLeqrnIERoS?si=FIBY9tXdReSLWRm81tzlTw) — Carole King (1971) Tapestry is a soft and cozy songwriting album, I've had 2 liked songs for a long time. It's upbeat and melancholy at the same time. Every song is a beautiful song, but it's a little too much to listen to the whole album back-to-back. 4/5 Liked: — I Feel the Earth Move — So Far Away — It's Too Late
Album 7 3/9/26 An absolute triumph of soft rock, this was shamefully my first listen. The quality of the pure songwriting here is unmatched by anything else on the list so far. Carole's songs, even ones I know I have not heard, seem familiar. Maybe I've heard covers, maybe I've listened to too much Todd Rundgren, maybe the progressions are just that solid. A highlight was how hard the session bassist and electric piano man were cooking over Carole's voice and piano. I know James Taylor is on here but the guitars didn't stand out for me at all within the textures of the album. Part of my project has been putting a number of tracks from each record onto a playlist, corresponding to the rating. The songs I put onto my 1001 playlist were I Feel the Earth Move, It's Too Late, Beautiful, and Where You Lead. Maybe with more listens this will develop into a comfort album and secure a 5 for me, I'm thinking this was a quite strong 4 as it didn't feel like it was "for me" but I would gladly pick up this album back up soon and work on that.
So freaking amazing
What a cozy album this is. It’s a great rainy day, light a candle, snuggle up and listen album. Fantastic album cover too! Have the cat snuggle up and enjoy this. 4 stars
What a coincidence, decided to listen to this album for the first time yesterday and today it pops up in the generator. A lovely little album. The songs are all really gentle and pleasant without transforming into easy listening singer songwriter slop. Carole King has a nice voice and the backing crew plays calm as well. She is a great songwriter and knows how to play her songs herself as well, was surprised to find out there were no covers here. Just a nice album all around.
A pretty sometimes great sometimes just very good collection of songs some that are rightfully regarded as iconic. Some that are bound to be. It's one of the most obviously great albums on the list but for reasons that have escaped me for years I simply don't love this album, and very rarely do I play my copy a Christmas gift from my father when I was 11/12. I'm not hearing something that millions of people hear and that bugs me- so I just can't give it 5/5 any more than I can give it 3/5. There are 5/5 songs on Tapestry but to my ears there are also 3/5 songs and that goofs everything up - at least for me. All of this to say that Tapestry is fully deserving of a perfect score, but something keeps getting in the way and I imagine it always will. I wish I could hear it with different ears.
Great album to listen to on a Sunday morning.
I've always loved this one! This was one of the first CDs I bought so it's extra special in that sense too. This is definitely almost a no-skip album for me. It kind of has the same soothing vibes as What's Going On. Favorites - “It’s Too Late,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Where You Lead”
lol I just listened to this the other night in my other project to re-listen to all my vinyl. I don’t have much more to say than this is a classic and makes me feel deeply nostalgic for mid-summers in rural Maine! Top Songs: 1) It’s Too Late 2) I Feel the Earth Move 3) So Far Away/ Way Over Yonder
Beautiful. Lovely haunting vocals, smooth piano that lulls you into to the song and holds you in. Nothing is forced, nothing is rushed, a great listen. A confident and brilliantly delivered pieces of music. It's feels very familiar due to the success of the songs.
A pretty undeniably catchy, well executed pop album. This album to me defines the 70's pop sound. It still feels retro, but somehow way ahead of its time for the early 70's. It definitely moved past the 60's hippie vibe into a more refined , sophisticated feel.
There are just so many amazing songs on this album - Carole King is just such an amazing songwriter. I just find myself frustrated that all the songs are saying in such a way that leave me wanting more from the performance side of it. I feel like I can feel the emotions of the song just yearning to get out but they're not quite there. "It's to late" harbours the feelings of a relationship dying, despite trying everything to make it work, and I've definitely felt that in others renditions, but unfortunately I'm the original I'm left wanting more. Still, cannot fault the songwriting, is just so good!
pleasantly surprised, probably would listen to again
Always glad to stumble upon this one !
Kind of a mixture of songs that are really pretty good and piano-heavy songs that kind of annoy me because they are a little too whiney. I can definitely see she's a quality song writer, though. Not sure how I feel about the whole album as a piece, but the high points are definitely worth going back to. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention to track names, so can't get more specific at this point. Will give another listen. For now, 4/5
I remember as a kid always pausing on this record when flipping through my Dad's collection. Never listened to it, but always found the cover striking. Didn't realize I probably already knew half the songs even then.
Gilmore girls Natural woman Like the female version of Dylan But most of her songs have been recorded by far better artists for the iconic versions
Wow. I had no idea all these songs were written by the same person. Amazing album. I'll be listening to more of this.
I’d never listened to this album before or really even knew Carole King. Really enjoyed this. I want to listen to this on a lazy Sunday morning on a 60 degree day with the windows thrown open and a cup of coffee.
It takes me right back to the backseat on those long family drives, Dad sliding the 8‑track in with that heavy clunk as Carole King filled the car. He’d tap the steering wheel, half‑singing, the road humming underneath us. My siblings drifting off, warm air through the cracked window, the songs landing like familiar landmarks. Safe, simple, and golden — the kind of comfort you don’t realize you are keeping for life.
It’s a classic , great first daily album
Schön.
2/18 Heard a few of these songs before. The whole album is good soft rock and some of the lyrics resonate with me right now. I like it.
I really enjoyed this album. The album was quite consistent with the upbeat rhythm and makes you feel like you’re the main character, especially Where You Lead (as it reminds me of Gilmore Girls). I loved I Feel The Earth Move and Will You Love Me Tomorrow?
Has a really enjoyable sound, and I love her voice. Wasn't quite a 5 as while I enjoyed each song I did love many

1: It’s Too Late 2: I Feel the Earth Move 3: A Natural Woman
Had low expectations, expecting a boring and slow folk album, but the first track, "I Feel The Earth Move" I recognized immediately. Total banger. I also thought it was sung by a black woman until now. She's got serious pipes and I love the album cover of her and her cat. All the chords are wonderful and soulful. I don't know if that's what makes it not boring, but I like it despite it not being something I'd usually listen to. I recognize "You've Got A Friend" because my parents listened to the James Taylor version HOLY SHIT IF YOU LEAD IS THE GILMORE GIRLS THEME I understand why every home had this album. It's like a warm, scented candle in the fall. A very cozy ambience to listen to while wearing a sweater.
Dude what a voice, it’s motherly in that it’s calming and there is some urgency in her inflections. This shit felt like a hug in autumn i cant even lie. This will be revisited.
One I have the vinyl of. Lovely listen. King is one of the rare singer-songwriters to really click with me, helps that she was an absolute giant of the Brill Building and you can still feel that here. Also kitty :3
Loved it
good
she sounds so good on apple music im gagged this is from 1971, year my dad was born, my mom met her several times in manhattan through her boss at the boutique she worked at in the early 90s, she said she dated many young men LMAO

Some honest bangers
Moving. An ode to life. Liked the vocals. Liked the production. Good album.
I liked a few songs, and the singer's voice is very mesmerizing.
Carole King’s voice is so warm and soothing, and her songwriting is evocative and emotionally relatable. Somehow this album feels so comforting, emotionally tender, and full of longing all at the same time. The recording is gorgeous and feels like a warm hug. The arrangements and piano are beautiful, so soulful. I didn’t connect with every song but overall I love this album. Also, how can I not love an album with a tabby cat on the cover?
Good classic songwriting and 70s production. I can see why it's held up s a classic.
Listened to this years ago Because of a glee episode. Really enjoyed registering.
This is t something I would listen to on a regular basis but her talents are undeniable.
Some more important music education for me matching lots of songs I’ve heard to a name I’ve heard! Some grooves, lots of heart and what a good cover to close
THE PIANO AND THE ENTIRE ALBUM WAS AMAZINGG
87/100. It’s emotionally moving, with heartfelt lyrics and warm, timeless melodies. King’s voice carries both strength and vulnerability, and the songwriting is top-tier.
So glad that I finally got to listen to that album. Really loved it.
I enjoyed this. I was trending toward a "3" but the last half pulled this up to a "4."
Very clean sounding album. Recording is stellar, songwriting is great. One of those where it's so iconic it's almost hard to hear it as an album. The cat's name is Telemachus. Anyone firing anything below a four is likely doing a bit or making a weird stance.
The production and mixing is well done. This just isn't my cup of tea. I must admit that I was surprised by the overall high rating. Way Over Yonder warmed me a little. Okay, she won't me over on the back half.
Great album
Great piano with a cute kitty cat
A lovely listen
Nice pop/folk album, played very well by an excellent backing band, and sang quite beautifully. This list has lots of albums featuring female singers that do ballads with a guitar, this album is better than all of those.
It was a great album. Beautiful songs and no doubting the genius of the songwriting but a few tracks just felt a little bit boring.
After 55 years the tapestry is a little worn and faded, but you can still see how well crafted and elegant it is.
First time listening to this
Good 1970's album with lots of songs I know. Great for a country drive
Sounds like a slow, sunny 70s afternoon drinking coffee. Lovely.
CAT also just a lovely album in general. "Way Over Yonder" is beautiful and soothing
Starts strong and then peters out, but this is a great album.
Fantastic voice, nice lyrics simple music. 4
4.5/5
Felt like a musical in some ways. I really liked it. Her voice sounds so energised…like someone who has never ending creativity. Seeing the time it came out you can’t help but applaud. 1 Jan what a gag. Overall 7.5/10 Fav song - A Natural Woman (ofc!)
Enriquecedor. Lleno de emoción.
Muy bello me trasmitió paz y anhelos
Beautiful song writing. Catchy melodies and memorable lyrics. A truly timeless record.
The more you listen to it, the more you want to listen to it.
This album has all my favorite Carole King songs and pretty much most of her hits. Good stuff, but I don't know if there's another album of hers that I'd be dying to listen to.
Musically and lyrically pleasing album, great sound and songwriting. Great closing with You Make Me Feel, couple other great songs too.
A few songs in, I was going to give this album a 3 out of 5, as in, it's cool, I kinda like it, but it's nothing special. By the time I was done with it Ms Carole King had convinced me that at the very least this is a 4, arguably a 5. The songs resonated with me, and the storytelling is great and overall it just made me feel good. My daily 15-minute walk to grab some lunch disappeared, as I had not even noticed that I had already arrived at my destination in the blink of an eye. 4/5.
4.0/5 2x i can recognize this as a great album even though i don't love it, i can't really rank it under 4
1. I Feel the Earth Move OK BASS pop off. Damn ok everyone is cookin. Piano slaps, bass is groovin, guitar is popping off. Ooo that break down is nice. That ritardando at the end is nice 2. So Far Away Nice little flute solo. Really beautiful, melancholy melody which I'm down for 3. It's Too Late Damn I didn't realize these were all Carole King and all on this album. Queen. That's a good chorus. Her voice is very soulful. Nice ending chord. 4. Home Again Snow is cold rain is wet. This one is giving Carpenters a bit 5. Beautiful This one is a bit whimsical, feeling like Paul McCartney/Billy Joel. Feel like this would be the song at the beginning of act 3 of a movie where a character realizes something and makes a change. A little goofy 6. Way Over Yonder Vocals are serving—who is the other vocalist or is it just her. Solid sax solo. Could do without the electric guitar also soloing at the same time. Very soulful and bluesy 7. You've Got a Friend Did not realize this was a cover. I think I like the James Taylor version better but maybe just because I heard it first. Ok, chords come thru. 8. Where You Lead I wonder if I've heard this song more than any other song ever. Feelin lonely and sooo coollldd. She seems like a good friend 9. Will You Love Me Tomorrow? Kind of heartbreaking tbh. Background vocals are a bit hot. Is that james taylor 10. Smackwater Jack That little rhode piano lick was sick. 11. Tapestry huh 12. (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman Brilliant. great end to the album
19/01/2026 *1. i feel the earth move - immediately liking the piano. her voice is sooo nice... bass is great as well. like a more subdued janis joplin. 2. so far away - really lovely guitar and piano together.... realllly phenomenal lyrics. loving the overlapping vocals. really liking this, but it is a bit boring to me.... sorry! 3. it's too late - really liking the bass in these songs... this one sounds a bit bluesier? jazzier? saxaphone!!!! 4. home again - love these lyrics... 5. beautiful - really sweet lyrics... love the bridge. great instrumentations... songs are sounding a little bit samey at this point, but still really enjoying them :) *6. way over yonder - very soulful.... love her lyrics... saxaphone is back!!! 7. you've got a friend - realllly love the strings. little bit long, but really liking this album. 8. where you lead - liking the guitar and keyboard together. very tired and the tracks are blending into one in my head. just a bit too easy-listening for me, but still really nice to listen to. 9. will you love me tomorrow? - same thoughts as the prev song basically. really nice guitar :) *10. smackwater jack - immediately very bluesy... liking this one. love all of the instruments, but especially the bass!! love the growl in her voice at parts and the backing vocals. saxaphone is back!!!! 11. tapestry - love the lyrics. 12. (you make me feel like) a natural woman - great :) nothing more to say! really liked this one but, like the new order album yesterday, it doesn't have that oomph to push it to a five. maybe it's because i'm doing this right before i go to bed and am obscenely tired.... too mellow for me right now. looooved smackwater jack though :) will def give most of the songs a relisten soon.
Lovely!
Rv/g
Shit I have to rate this. I don't think it was amazing, but I do find it to be of better quality than a lot of stuff you find on here... I think I'll give it a 4. I can always change my mind
There are a lot of heavy hitters on this album - The piano and simple but impactful songwriting really spoke to me. These songs are primarily about relationships, both of love and friendship like "Where you Lead", "I Feel the Earth", "Natural Woman", etc. The oddball is "Smack water Jack" with the story of a massacre in a church. It makes you bob your head more than one should about this topic. Overall, this is a really good singer songwriter album.
This was a good listen. Very soulful, it reminded me of being a kid and listening to the Shining Time Station theme song. They are completely unrelated, except that there is a sort of wholesome softness that exists in both that puts them in the same drawer in my brain.
I was familiar with Carol King, but I had never listened to all of Tapestry until now. I vascillated between 4 and 5, but landed on 4. These songs have a lot of heart, and have a timeless quality to them, even as the production has a dated early 70s feel to it.
Lovely and cozy.
definitely a 4.5!! this album became one of my favorites. I love her voice and the piano in every song sounds sooo good!! I'll be listening to it more for sure
Great, great album. So many classics on here. Highlights: "So Far Away", "It's Too Late", "You've Got A Friend" and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"
Great album. A couple of classics, a couple of covers. Has that oldy, warm, comforting voice, the compositions are soft, ballady. You've Got A Friend takes the cake for me. 4/5!
An album from an artist I hadn’t heard of (which I feel like I should of), but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the album and all its songs. This is the sort of thing I was expecting and hoping to get from 1001 albums, a pleasant surprise. When listening to the first song I could tell that that this album had potential, the album just felt like a classic (even not knowing until today) it had this familiar comforting sound. I think this sound is achieved through its intimate feeling, feed by the piano lead compositions, soulful vocals and warm guitar notes combination. The mood of the most songs are similar and follow a folk-rock sound but they were some different ones here and there with a faster tempo and a blend of Motown in them, which all together in the album made an enjoyable listen. I think this album’s success comes from the fact it’s not trying to do too much, it’s some good old vocals, instrumentals from piano and guitar mixed together, a simple but good recipe for a quality album. Standout songs for me were ‘I feel the earth move’ and ‘it’s too late’, I feel like I will add this to my vinyl collection and a rate a solid 4 stars.
Had a rough day, this made me feel nice and cared for. I recommend.
True or false: Every song in the world was actually originally written by Carole King.
YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A NATURAL WOMAN
3.5
Soulful vocals. A few big hits everyone knows. A little R&B, funky, Motown kind of thing. More mellow stuff too. Some cool playing by the band.
Good album. Didn't really pay attention to the lyrics and different songs BUT the vibe is great and I'd definitely put some of the titles in my playlists. I did love this album.
Seminal album. Loved it
a Classic, great songs.
a very very pleasant and lovely album, perfect for a cozy evening. the song "tapestry" was so good lyrically and sonically! it's not a 5 for me since there was no greater drawing factor however i really enjoyed the album and i will be re-listening!
The recording sounds so good. Had only heard one song before so going to need a relisten to absorb that masterpiece and to maybe give it 5 stars. 4.5/5
Some classic songs you forget are all on the same album Very chill calm pop rock 4
Very much enjoyed this. First album on here to get multiple listen
A lovely album. I realised whilst listening that I know more Carole King songs than I thought I did.
Just an all-around really solid album from start to finish, really not a bad song in here. Carole King has an incredible voice.
Great album, lots of classic hits. Notables include I Feel The Earth Move, So Far Away, It’s Too Late, You’ve Got A Friend, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Tapestry, A Natural Woman. First Carole King album for me and it didn’t disappoint. Really solid songwriting.
Loved the instruments and vocals
So uplifting, morose, and comforting all at the same time. Great album to start this project with.
Pretty groovy Its definitely an album that gives some energy when you listen to it in the morning. Really a nice soundtrack for a late sunny afternoon.
Good album. Reminds me of my father. Some decent songs to say the least, but felt very time bound. Not a bad thing just something that when I think of 70's song writers, Carole King is at the top of that list.
that was as cool as albums cover
I overall liked it but mostly the hits. Some of the songs made me feel like I’d rather be listening to James Taylor. 1/1/2026
I was surprised that this is the only Carole King on the list. This album is really good and I knew a large majority of these songs, although I don't think I knew they were all Carole King songs. This is just a really solid album of great songs. Carole King rules. 4/5
Amazing
“Tapestry” is familiar and warm. It’s so refreshing and fun to hear. Carole King’s voice is unique and fun. It’s hard not to be happy listening to the piano on “Beautiful”. It’s a great album.
The first song gives "Gilmore Girls" soundtrack. "OH IT'S TOO LATE BABY OH IT'S TOO LATE!!!!" oh my god it is the Gilmore Girls album!! Where you lead - All you have to do is call my name and I will be there on the next train. If you need me to be with you I will follow where you lead!!! Summer music that sounds like fun but the lyrics make you want to journal for 4+ hours in a hammock and cry.
I have previous exposure to Carole King (Beautiful the Musical) and her work. Upon listening to this album it’s hard to deny it’s absolutely exceptional.
Carole King and her standards! This album has the hits and the writing holds up all these years later.
4 lätt. Lite Fleetwood Mac vibbar men mer folk
Not my certain way of listen to sad songs but the fun ones were good. Great vocals into it. I'll come back to her vocals
Nice background music, love songs
Currently 10 songs into the album and I have really enjoyed listening to it. I love the vocal range of Carole and the instrumentals of her songs. I’d say my favourite song from the album right now would be ‘way over yonder’. I just finished the album and I am very surprised that I actually loved it and added it to my playlist. I can understand why it’s in the top 100 albums ever. I would 100% listen to this album again.
Richtig entspanntes schönes Album!
Das hat mir gut gefallen, schöne Überraschung. Tolle Stimme, unaufgeregt und trotzdem prägnant instrumentiert - runde Sache.
I love this album. Not a fan of a few but the good ones are absolute hits. 4.25
Amazing voice. Great songs.
Nice easy listening
3.8 / 5 Honestly not bad, and although I'm really not a fan of singer-songwriter/Folk music, this album is really bluesy which I appreciate. Thanks to the nice vibe it has going on between almost every song, it turned out to be great background music. But as good as it is, it's still Folk, so -1 star for that.
Fun!
Girlboss
Always liked this album, cozy and easy
Liked the vibe, it reminds me of the Gilmore Girls intro song.
What a talented singer. Had no idea she did so many well known songs!
Amazing and timeless album
Beautiful albums. Carole King is an amazing songwriter and I enjoyed the simpleness of many of the arrangements. By that I mean each song showcased pure talent by Carole King and the other musicians she worked with. A lot of classics on this album. I’d say it’s 4.5, but I’m going with 4 because there are a few songs on here that I like other versions of better.
Incredibly good. So many good songs. Holds up very well.
It's amazing the number of bangers/known songs on this one album. She's quite a prolific singer/songwriter. Awesome to learn she was one of the songwriters behind "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" I had just learned that she didn't want Gilmore Girls to use "Where You Lead" because it was about a man, but then she re-recorded it with her daughter when they told her the premise of the show. Interesting to her the original song and it's lyrics. I don't particularly love her voice. It has a specific quality that is just right for these songs and I know if from the Gilmore Girls show and her speaking voice. I am very impressed by her songwriting and her piano skills.
If i had to describe this in one word it would be lovely. Carole king’s voice is beautiful and relaxing, and the music has the perfect amount of energy while also feeling sentimental. Fav songs: so far away, it’s too late, you’ve got a friend
Solid, with some real belters. I will be coming back to this album
Cool
Wow . Great song writing . So many stone cold classics. On my initial listen through it was great songs with lackluster performance, but switching to vinyl and a descent system really brought the warm and songs to life .
This is the very definition of Easy Listening. Like a hot cup of tea under a warm cozy blanket on your favorite EZ chair. Even when the lyrics are sorrowful its easy to listen to. There's a ton of great songs on here & they are all comforting and/or uplifting. 4
it's not bad
I get the hype. Simple and soft.
Love this album. Fond memories of AM Gold.
The album is a collection of hit songs. Most made famous by other artists. All written by Carole King. These are her own versions.
Great album - every track easy to listen to and enjoy and a number of belters
Very cozy, night in with lit candles, a glass of wine, and a book vibes.
i quite like it
The first 3 seconds or so of a Carole King track are magical. Feels like coming home every time. Amazing grooves, amazing vocals, amazing songwriting. Just superb. Also insane that Merry Clayton, AND James Taylor, AND JONI MITCHELL??? THEYRE ALL ON THIS ALBUM?!?? Incredible. Little bit of album drag, nothing crazy. Just some of the tracks like you’ve got a friend, and beautiful, don’t grab me as much as some of the other material. I also find the title track a little cheesy. After hearing the very aptly placed closing track, all I have to say is that this album is amazing. Pros: amazing production, songwriting, vocal performance, general vibes Cons: slowish middle, not my fav title track, and the album can feel a little samey as a whole.
I liked it, naturalistic sounding. Laurel Canyon vibes although overall probably not as interesting as Joni.
There's hardly a dishonest note that Carole sings throughout the entire record. My favorite tunes were "You've Got a Friend", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?", and "(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman". Some of the songs did lose my attention a bit but overall, Carole's performance had a lot of soul and felt truly authentic.
Four true classic singer/songwriter tunes and some generic sounding clones.
Very solid stuff! She has a great voice, good listening.
Lovely album. Carole King's voice effortlessly serves these well-written songs, resulting in some all-time classics like the title track, I Feel the Earth Move, and You've Got a Friend.
One of the most solid albums to ever do it, Carole King is just a super talented woman whose songs have such staying power. There's no belting, no crazy production, just her telling you how she feels.
“Doesn’t anyone stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door” I was shocked to realise when this album was generated for me that it was not already on my long list of albums I needed to hear. With this in mind it is a tremendous stroke of luck that Tapestry was thrown out to me as it was a wonderful listening experience. Bookended by two absolute classics in “I Feel the Earth Move” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” Tapestry rarely falters. Despite feeling exquisitely gentle throughout, the first half in particular is given brilliant rhythmic momentum by King’s piano as well as the bass playing. The guitar and saxophone are tastefully interspersed throughout and work well to make the album feel more well rounded sonically. Lyrically the album is focused on feeling far from home and this homesickness is often framed through King being far from the people she loves (whether physically or emotionally). For me it did lose its edge slightly around the start of the second side with the tracks “You’ve Got a Friend” and “Where You Lead” which felt more simplistic and thematically not as interesting to me. There is a strong finish though and despite feeling quite out of place the fun bluesy tune “Smackwater Jack” provides a much welcome increase in pace before we wind down again into the title track and a strong vocal performance on “A Natural Woman”. It takes a special kind of confidence in your own ability to cover Aretha Franklin but King does enough to distinguish the song from the original and make it her own. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed and many of the songs here will without a doubt enter regular rotation for me.
An effortlessly likable album. This is an album that appeals to every demographic from music nerds to more casual listeners to your grandmother. Absolutely timeless. Favorite track: It's Too Late
I liked it, but I couldn’t get as into it as people seem to be. I’d say I love the likes of Joni Mitchell much more. Low 4, but I have to listen again
It is wild how many absolute standards are packed into this tracklist. I realized I knew half these songs from covers before ever hearing the originals. The songwriting is undeniable, just top-tier craftsmanship. It’s gentle, but the quality is undeniable. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions - I Feel the Earth Move - It's Too Late - You've Got a Friend - Where You Lead
More soul than I expected from the album cover of a white lady and a cat. Fabulous, easy listening with a lot of emotion and variation. Happy to now associate some of the big hits from this album with their talented artist and the overall context of this exceptional album.
Some real classics in here. There were a few songs that I thought were a bit similar and dragged a little, but overall I really liked the album. So many songs that I knew but hadn’t sat down to properly listen to before so that was nice. Fav song: Where You Lead Least fav: Beautiful
Really really nice easy listen. This is what I thought Joni Mitchell would sound like. Feet too present in the album cover is my only real gripe. Specific rating - 4.4 Fav song - so far away Least fav- smackwater jack
If you asked me before I started what album would have the song I'd heard the most I probably would have guessed a Taylor Swift album or maybe Paul Simon's Graceland. But the title goes to Tapestry by Carole King and my annual Gilmore girls watch through- seven seasons, 153 episodes, at least four complete watches of the show (maybe 5 or 6...) I might have heard Where You Lead more than any other song ever. Sure I prefer that version- recorded almost 30 years after this one with her daughter but whatever version this song feels like the start of something lovely, familiar and comforting. Favourite song: Where You Lead Least: Smackwater Jack
Not much to say on this one. Carole King is an excellent songwriter and "You've Got a Friend" is a favourite of mine. Plus the original version of the Gilmore Girls theme? What a bonus - Just needs more of her daughter and less pining for a man. Yes, I mean the Gilmore Girls version is better. Great album!
Very very good
How has this album stood the test of time??? So good. I think she hypnotizes us…
Feels like a rainy fall day sitting by the fire in all the right ways.
I had heard of Carole King, but had never listened to her music before. This was much better than expected. It's a mix of 70s singer-songwriter and late 60s blues rock. It works quite well.
Off the bat i just like the sound of this more than the other albums I’ve had so far. Maybe because it’s pop, it feels more approachable. Idk.
Honey to your ears. King is a monster songwriter and this album, a towering achievement, is loaded with classics. King’s performance doesn’t really do her own songs justice; some covers are superior. And even though I was starting to be aware of music in the mid-‘70s when this record still dominated stereos in shag living rooms everywhere, I can’t quite grasp how fresh and exciting it must have sounded at the time. Now, it suffers a bit from overexposure, and I can’t quite go 5. High 4.5
Listened to this album while flying back home. It’s smooth and soulful, and just the vibe I needed after a big week. Standout tracks: I Feel the Earth Move, Way Over Yonder, You’ve Got a Friend, Will You Love Me Tomorrow? and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
3.5 - Good
Loved The Soft Vibes Of The Album And How It Made Me Experience A New Genre That I Have Never Heard Befor
Whilst it's very pleasant, Tapestry is another of those records that I want to enjoy more than I actually do. But the timeless quality is present throughout and I do like Carole King's soulful vocals much more than say Joni Mitchell.
Really lovely, if somewhat twee, songs.
good stuff "beautiful" is literally my life out look (whether thats good or bad idk)
Beautiful, fun, and cozy album. Adding to my arsenal of albums I could listen to any time, any place
Buncha bangers
That was pleasant enough. That's what my aunt would to listen to in the 70s when she was the age that I am now. I shan't start listening to Carols King but I certainly wouldn't turn it off it was playing.
I had a college professor who was obsessed with Carole King, and listening to this I get why. She has such a strong and soulful voice, and the arrangements really make that shine. It’s nice that there are other instruments that get to solo and showcase talent, but the focus is put where it really matters.
Cat on the cover
Veers a little too close to Billy Joel-ville at times, but there's more classics here than on a greatest hits record. Damn, Carole, I didn't know Tapestry was the soil we grow in and the air we breathe
While listening I thought to myself "This song reminds me of the Gilmore Girls intro" and that's literally what played next.
An amazing singer songwriter record from one of the most beautiful souls ever.
Beautiful lyrics, voice and composition. Vocal audio quality seems low
It was nice to hear space in the recording. Room to breathe.
I've listened to this album so many times when I was younger. Almost every track sucks you in with King's voice clearly and effortlessly making this an easy listening classic
This is an absolute classic. Not my style, but I can appreciate it.
Enjoyed the album! It felt like an easy replay
Easy to listen, good songs with great voice.
She has such an amazing voice and her work on pop songs is amazing. There are a couple of dull 70s pieces in this album, but it’s over all very good.
Tunes
This album has quite the reputation, and more than lives up to it.
I feel there must be more to life than albums from the 70s? Sigh. But okay... here we go! Apparently 1 and 2 were major hits. But I started to appreciate the sound of this album more in the 3rd track. That track has its typical pitfalls, but there's something extra to be heard here. Tracks 4, 5 and 9: someone is getting annoyed by being a woman in the 70s... I feel ya', sis! And I do like track 6. 7 needs no mentioning. Some songs are rightful classics and I'm all theeeere for it ;-) The album's title song grabbed my attention once more. And 12... ah yes... 12! 12, you make me feel, you make me feel, you make me feel like a natural person 💫 13: out in the cold... someone has been a bitch, no? :) Filler song otherwise. 14. Smackwater... Jack's got me moving but not an instant hit or anything :) I wouldn't have minded being there, back in the day.
Incredibila!
I love 70s easy listening. Loved “Far Away” and “Too Late.” Glad to have heard Carole King. She’s sweet as hell.
Very nice.
God her voice so smooth. I’m a sucker for the blues and a good bass line too
The songs are great, well worthy of five stars, but there's just something missing in the delivery for me. Most of these songs I know from other people singing them, and quite honestly doing a better job. I'm going with four stars, as I enjoyed the album, but it eluded the full five stars.
Enjoyed it Standout songs: I Feel the Earth Move Youve got a Friend Tapestry
7.5
Pretty good. A couple of recognizable songs and the rest was solid.
iconic songwriter and iconic album really.
Initial thoughts: wow this sounds a lot like the gilmore girls theme *gilmore girls theme plays”
true pre cursor to much of what pop music is today. Timeless.
A classic. Has a timelessness.
One thing I found interesting about this album was that some of the tracks were written by Carole King but were covered by other groups years earlier (is that a thing?). She apparently considered herself a writer and not a singer until the 70s. Many of these songs were big hits, and the album was on the charts forever. Even though some of these tracks are boring, the album is well done.
Great album, fantastic singer and great selection of songs
Hands down, one of the best feet on any album cover
...after the thrill is gone I've expected to enjoy Tapestry, and it wasn't half bad, but everything on it reminds me of After The Thrill is Gone... and I don't get why people hate on Eagles that much, while Tapestry is comparable. I don't quite love Carole King's voice, but it's easy to get accustomed to within seconds.
I'm learning to appreciate a good singer... how even amongst the best musicians some singers stand above the rest. Carole King is definitely one of those people. I enjoyed this album a lot more than I expected.
Solid 4, the ending to I Feel The Earth Moves drives me nuts in a bad way, otherwise this is enjoyable
Solid songwriting and playing by everyone on the album. She is an amazing writer and performer, and although many of the songs were familiar, I never knew much about her before listening to this album.
groovy. ballads. classics.
this album is cute 4
Third time listening to this one all the way through, and I'll admit it didn't really capture me at all the first couple times. I was expecting this run to not be any different. But it really clicked this time! It's pretty much wall-to-wall classics. Beautiful composition and lyricism and just about as good as songwriting gets, though admittedly like Dylan a lot of the covers in the proceeding 50-ish years have done slightly better with her material (which I guess is more a respectable testament to King's legacy). fav tracks: I Feel The Earth Move, It's Too Late, A Natural Woman
Such a feel good album. I like Carole. 8/10
If you don't recognize Carole King, you recognize her songs. She wrote or co-wrote over 100 songs that charted on the Billboard 100. This album still has the record for consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 by a female solo artist. Huge songs on this record with I Feel the Earth Move, It's Too Late, You've Got a Friend and You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman. This album was Carole King stepping out and getting recognition for her incredible song writing ability, and of course, she's an incredible singer as well. Down to Earth and relatable singer.....with freaking Joni Mitchell as a background singer. To me, this is your classic 70's pop album. Slow paced, actually has something to say, great storytelling, sax solos. In terms of a daily listen, it's too slow for me, but it's a powerful album. Smackwater Jack is probably my favorite song on here because it really strikes you as real, especially in 2025. About a guy that buys a shotgun and goes on a shooting spree. He's caught after a statewide manhunt and killed by the police. The theme of the song is that you can't reason with someone that's in a rage. Could be an allegory for domestic abuse, but the point is true in general "You can't talk to a man with a shotgun in his hand. You can't talk to a man when he don't wanna understand." Not sure if it was meant to feel so heavy, but this one really stood out for me. Also crazy how You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman doesn't have more listens on Spotify.
Wouldn’t have pick this album was the one I get told off for playing it too loud
Cozy and domestic. I was a little bored at first, but it's so inviting that I ended up having a nice, mellow time.
THAT WAS PEAK
Goooood
"I Feel the Earth Move" je pač dbest. Sledi baladast komad, k sede, ker je glih mal relevanten mi - "So Far Away". "It's Too Late" je a banger - ga slišiš, da bo že koj k se začne. "You've Got a Friend" je najs. Spomne me na Gilmore Girls. Aja, lol. "Where You Lead" je nasleden komad. (Fak me, res. Ko sm loh to pozabila, niti nism registrirala k sm preletela naslove komadov. Moj edini izgovor je, da dons mal raztreseno poslušam, ker morm delat shit zraven.) Sledi cover od "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" - najs, chill verzija. "Smackwater Jack" po tempu, vajbu in besedilih izstopa. Bl je živahen in ni neka osebna izpoved od Carole. Album pa lepo zaključi "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", k je spet napisana s strani Carole & first husband, znana pa je bolj druga verzija - od Arethe Franklin.
i think this record suffers from an unfortunate affliction through no fault of carole king’s own, which is that i’ve heard so many of these songs not as elements of a coherent album but as individual tracks in various contexts (’i feel the earth move,’ ‘you’ve got a friend,’ ‘where you lead,’ ‘will you love me tomorrow,’ ‘natural woman,’ ‘so far away’) so it’s difficult to hear them for what they are. my first instinct is to be like “yayy this is actually a nice song for something so overplayed” which seems unfair. but that’s still how i feel. as a result i much preferred the songs that i wasn’t as familiar with already. she’s excellent at what she does and the overplayed-ness of these songs ultimately speaks to her success as a songwriter. fav tracks: so far away; home again
I knew far more songs than I expected, and the ones I didn't know still sounded familiar? Amazing songwriting, great vocals.
Finally, a singer-songwriter album that wasn’t painfully boring! Great album.
Handful of good songs that defined an era.
Classic 70s sound, well writtena dn well performed. For me, I can't here "You've got a friend" without seeing that awful AA ad campaign, and I also think you can't really beat Aretha's "You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)".
4/5
Very enjoyable
In terms of musicality and the skills on show this is a really high quality album and a really easy listen. King was clearly a talented musician and this was a highly influential and well received album. It’s simple, clean and well produced, and King has a purity to her voice without being sanctimonious. I can’t really fault it, maybe it’s not the kind of music I would seek out to listen to but it’s really good.
Easy to dismiss as not my usual play. I started listening in a noisy environment so had to start again. I am pleased I did as it was worth a little investment. It was the strong Piano that was reedeming for me and demanded some attention. "Way over yonder", "You've got a friend" and countless more high-feeling of emotion. This album just got better too with some bangers scattered about that I recognised and had a fantastic finale. I struggled to evaluate this album as not my usual listen and dont tend to find the genre appealing as unconvincing emotion just makes it feel wet and a major turn off. Credit to King as this has the energy needed to remain convincing.
Beautiful album, soulful and calming. Great voice and a brilliant listen overall.
Love the vibe of this album. Great singer-songwriter, folk, and smooth 70s sounds across the track list. The production is decent but sometimes a little too high on the vocals but it works when it’s just her and the piano.
Great album with some huge songs on it. & the Gilmore Girls theme tune!
Nice songs, nice album. Could listen to this any day. Only a little more variation would be better
No denying that there are some beautiful tunes on "Tapestry". Great arrangements and production, with King's gorgeous voice to being it together. Not a personal top album if all time, but definitely wirth revisiting in the future.
19/09/2025 I feel like I should have known who this is. Regardless, it's a good album. Spotify listeners: 5.3 million
3,5
Not in my wheelhouse, but no denying this is an amazing album.
All you got to do is call
It’s nice to hear a songwriter sing their own songs that were made famous by other people. Unlike other songwriters like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, she can actually sing. The album was pretty good. I was confused by the song “Tapestry” but everything was pretty straightforward.
This album is too slow and mellow for my vibes but with songs from Gilmore Girls and Shrek plus other ear worms it does have value to it.
Aside from the fact that I Feel The Earth move sounds like a cover of a 60s girl group, this album sounds like THE 70s! When i think of what 70s music sounds like, it's basically Curtis Mayfield, ELO, Donna Summer, and Carole King. Every song is like a mid-movie montage happening.
8/10
Classic
This was honestly a great album with some really nice songs and something I can imagine putting on when I want to relax. Really great album
4/5
Very enjoyable
I’m usually not a fan of 70s singer-songwriter albums (or maybe just the ones chosen for this generator) but this album was lovely. Strong voice, great vibes, well produced.
Always loved it. Not my number 1, but have always been getting back to it.
Besides It's Too Late, I'd not really listened to much Carole King, or at least I thought I hadn't, there were plenty of songs on here that I knew, but didn't know they were her's. At first I thought this album was going to get the full five stars, but the album tracks don't live up to the big hits. Still, compared to something like Adele, this is light years ahead, despite being recorded well before Adele was born.
4.5 stars A solid record with great songwriting and emotion. Can’t really say too much bad about this, I’d just say I’m not always in the mood for this kind of music and that impacts my enthusiasm for the record.
Fantastic song writer, which goes without saying, and a beautiful voice to boot. Bought this album on CD to have in my physical collection.
Feels like a classic
Really nails the songwriter advantage of singing one’s own works with this album
Perfect mix of Radiohead's mastery over analog and electric instruments
It's the kind of artist I knew about but never stopped to listen to. Some songs I recognize, but everything sounds wonderful. It's an awesome album, from the first to the last track.
Such pure expressions of every kind of love! This album reminds me of driving into Yosemite with my best friends. Beautiful songwriting, and the cover of Will You Love Me Tomorrow was a surprise standout
One of my favorite albums. Fantastic songwriter.
4+
Very nice album. A handful of recognizable songs I didn’t know she sang. Favorite songs: I Feel the Earth Move, Where You Lead, Will You Love Me Tomorrow?, You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman

Beautiful songs. It's Too Late is so great.
my mom would play this while she cleaned the house. good memories :)
