Reviews (page 11 of 12)
Olisin kovasti halunnut pitää tästä levystä enemmän, mutta ei vaan jotenkin biisit innosta sitten yhtään, enkä oikeen keksi mikä siinä on, vaikka kuuntelin levyn kahdesti.
Aika raskasta soutua omiin korviin. Vähän semmoista kikkelijatsia koko levy. Ei kyllä jäänyt fiilis että haluaisi lisää Yesiä kuunnella. Ei nyt kuitenkaan mitään ihan täyttä paskaa, niin kakkosella mennään
Never listened to this album - interesting sound.
A bit too much for me.
Was okay. But probably won't listen again
Can see now this was influential, but would be okay never hearing this again 2/5
this progressive rock was already better than the last one. nothing mind blowing for me. but i did not mind it on the background.
Technically very impressive. Dont like the music
Yes?...uh no
There's a lot of cool stuff here. The organ sound is great, and the harmonies are so unique and beautiful. However, I find myself wishing some of the songs were tighter or even broken into smaller songs. Of course, that wouldn't be Yes, then, would it? Standout Track(s): Yours is No Disgrace, I've Seen All Good People
There was the occasional moment I almost liked
Not very good. Almost parody prog rock with long intros and indulgent instrumentals.
ccr/beegees geschrammel
That sure was music
Oh yay more prog
2.5
- I’m trying to appreciate it. Albums like this are almost the definition of a “trip.” They take you to another world, with a weird story. It’s meant to be experienced and imagined, not bopped along to. - But then again, I can’t think I’m gonna sit down and experience this again. Maybe I need to sit and listen with the lights off.

More like The No Album.
Old punk rock
Some songs aren't bad, but overall I don't particularly like it
Meh-okish
Meh
More like The No Album (I hope all the reviews say that). This album cover looks cool, like I'm about to enter A-to-Z Video* for a fun VHS tape. But I didn't like Yes's other album, so I'm not hopeful for this one, especially starting off with a 10 minute track. *I'm 90% this is what our local equivalent of Blockbuster was called, but it is seemingly impossible to find out via Google, like so many things I want to know D; Well, this album was slightly better than "Fragile", maybe just because my expectations were low. Still, it's a 2 for me. Highlights: "If the summer change to winter" is a rare subjunctive. Grammar win! 'Starship Trooper' has some good elements. I don't like it here because it makes the songs longer, but the concept of splitting a song into 2-3 named sub-parts (movements?) does appeal to me as a classical fan. I think Meat Loaf did this too, and maybe a few other 60s-80s artists, but it is something I haven't seen (yet?) in post 90s music, and would find charming. Lowlights: So many guitar breaks; melodies are mostly boring.
Fantastic musicianship but obscure lyrics and odd vocal style made this album hard to like at all.
I just haven't gotten bit by the prog rock bug
Good not my jam
I just don't get prog rock at all. I want to like it; while I appreciate the musicianship, it just doesn't click for me.
No.
Painful at the time, completely forgettable after
The no album by no
Gave it a go and my younger self's taste in music is still quite similar to my contemporary, more reflective and mature reasoned opinions, it is still cocka da kick
I came to the conclusion that I'm not smart enough to really appreciate prog rock, or at least this album. I get the idea of trying to make rock sound super artistic, but this sounds just like a test or something. There were so many different parts in the songs that it often sounded really great, but then, all of a sudden, it didn't . Also why are there three 9 minutes long songs? I want to do some other things today besides listening to one song from Yes. Sometimes I felt like my brain was being circumsised. But I have to admire that I kinda liked Perpetual Change. In the end, I'm glad I listened to the whole thing, but I don't think I'm doing it ever again. Favourite songs - Perpetual Change, The Clap (just for the great finger picking)
yours is no disgrace - 8 minutes, use of spacial audio is very cool (I listened with headphones), a little bit of a dad music vibe to it which puts me off of it but is still overall really good, cool guitar riffs, personally I prefer more vocals and lyrics but I think this has a good balance of voice and instrumentals, more cool guitar riffs the clap - 3 minutes, very much plucky vibes to it which i like, different to the last song but i don't mind the switch up, no vocals? starship trooper - 9 minutes, electric guitar is back, tempo and time sig changes, more cool guitar riffs, drums are annoying me a bit (the changes are cool but i wish they were a bit more consistant), again cool spacial audio, very 70's I've Seen All Good People - 6 minutes, more vocals, a bit more repetitive than the others A Venture - 3 minutes, idek i was low key zoned out and nothing in particular stuck out to me Perpetual Change - 9 minutes, build up is good, again cool use of spacial audio (having one guitar and then slowly building up to both), sounds like something my grandparents would like, low key zoned out again Your Move [single version] - 3 minutes, again very my grandparents esk but in a good way, low key vibey Starship Trooper: Life Seeker - 3 minutes, just a short version of the original imo, still good if not better overall The Clap [Studio Version] - 4 minutes, sounds the same just not live idk, still very cool and impressive, riffs like that are a lot harder on an acoustic Overall rating - 5/10
Hard work. I'm sure they are all great musicians but sprawling and ostentatious music, topped off with a grating singing style.
Yes is a no from me
i didn't hate this but this is like one of those albums that you find out your parents are passionately in love with and their eyes light up and they start fighting you if you say you didn't think this was 5 stars
omg pleasantly surprised! i thought i would hate it but it's kinda psychedelic and fun! but some songs were boring saaaawwrryyyyyy at the end of the day... white male music is not the Best to me but decent enough LMAO
⭐️⭐️ 1001 ALBUMS- # 73 Yes means No… I’ll freely admit that my relationship with prog music is rather infantile, a wave of musical trendsetting that was quite before my time as an aging Millennial. Not that I take exception to it, rather I find it difficult to objectively analyze what is beyond the surface noise. This album is apparently widely considered to be the record that launched the band Yes into the forefront of progressive rock. After two earlier albums that leaned more toward psychedelic pop and jazz-infused rock, this third studio album is where the band found its distinctive voice—marked by complex compositions, instrumental virtuosity, and a blend of rock power with classical ambition. It’s also the first Yes album to feature guitarist Steve Howe, whose presence completely transformed their sound. His versatility—sliding seamlessly from acoustic interludes to explosive electric solos—became a defining element of the band’s style moving forward. 🎧 Classic Track: Yours is No Disgrace 🎧 Deep Cut Gem: A Venture 🚫 Skip Track: I’ve Seen All Good People Jon Anderson’s lyrics, while earnest, often descend into near-nonsense. Lines like “I’ve seen all good people turn their heads each day so satisfied I’m on my way” sound profound but don’t hold up under scrutiny. The lyrics serve mood more than meaning, which might be poetic—or might just be filler. Though praised at the time, the production now sounds dated. Compared to the cleaner, more immersive sound of later albums like Fragile, The Yes Album feels a bit thin. Tony Kaye’s organ tones are especially flat by modern standards, and the rhythm section sometimes feels buried or muddy. 🖼️ Album Artwork: A great story behind this one! While repeated listens may eventually win me over on this one and with the band Yes overall, however at this moment if feels much more like a resounding No- as in I don’t really find myself wanting to revisit it.
i don't get it.
Where King Crimson said NO, Yes said YES ABSOLUTELY with a big grin and a tambourine. This is prog rock that wants you to feel good about yourself, and that’s exactly where it loses me. It’s too jangly, too sparkly, too eager to uplift. I don’t mind virtuosity or ambition, I live for it sometimes, but I want it dark, not tuneful. This album never clicked with me.
I'm sorry, I just can't do any more prog. There are Yes fans. Good for them. This list will not convert me into one.
Unmemorable typical 70s sound. Meh.
The high harmonies represented in so much British prog rock start to grate on me. I can find solace in the ripping guitar and grooves they find at times, but it’s not enough of a port in a storm.
Litt for plingete plongete. Åpenbart teknisk bra, men treffer ikke meg i det hele tatt. Alternerende mellom kjedelig og masete.
Decent album
I’m wary of prog, with its usual pretensions and inane, fantastical lyrics, but I’ve got nothing against “complex” song structure, ‘cept when “complex” really means ostentatious, as it often does. In fairness, this has more groove than is typical of its genre, due credit to Chris Squire’s penetrating, melodic bass, and the formidable Steve Howe’s eclectic guitar. Even as the music drags, existing in limbo between defined sections of music patched together to give the vague impression of “complexity,” the interplay between talented musicians grants momentary pleasures. I’m less forgiving of the inane, fantastical lyrics. Top Tracks: I’ve Seen All Good People
Dreadful, over-long, over-blown shite.
Uninteresting prog
Only for 5 minutes i did dream about growing my hair out and living in a sprinter van, which i think is damning for Yes. 2/5
I guess it’s fine… I can’t really get on board with it though.
overall didn’t really like this very much. a venture is the only song i think i could get behind, but even still i didn’t actually enjoy it that much. perpetual change was very interesting but very challenging and just confusing to listen to, which is cool in its own right. i can hear the similarity to beach boys / blue light orchestra etc, but there was so much going on here. will probably not listen again
not my jam, no downloads but okay to listen
Fine, but nothing more than just fine.
Very skipabble for me. The only song I liked was the opening track, and I had high hopes for the rest of the album but no
Another boring 70s-Blues-Rock-Band. But with Acoustic-Guitars and Nintendo-Sounds.
Not my style sorry
Not a fan back when, but I'm glad I listened to a full Yes album. Now I am certain I do not care for them.
Sophisticated wankery. No idea who would want to hear this. Technical, grandiose and boring
Yes just isn’t my type of music. I can’t deny the group’s musicianship and say it’s not “good.” It’s just not pleasing to my ear. Their sound is very dated to me. I’m really not into the space age-y rocket-ship type 70s rock. Is that prog rock? If so, I think it’s not my jam. I’m sad to see there are two more Yes albums on the list.
quite boring
the 70s blues/rock guitars are cool; the acoustic instrumental an obvious demonstration of skill. but the bloated, overtheatrical, cringe-inducing harmonies are all present in embryonic form here. the whole prog flavor of yes- rush- genesis- gentle giant is thoroughly offputting to me. the organs and vocals are enough to ruin this for me. no no no no no.
Yes more like No Thank You
Mediocre
A pompous early effort. Fortunately not the super deluxe edition. Shining, flying, purple wolfhound…eh? Some good ideas here and there but they don’t come together well. Sounds a bit like CSN in some of its folkier moments. They get it right a couple albums later but they’re not there yet.
The Yes Album by Yes tönt eher wie es The Naja Album by Naja. Ned gross öppis im Gedächnis blibe und hüt morge bim nahlose hanis Album nüm gfunde ussert e 4 Stunde delux version. Daher vlt biz schwirig das denn z bewerte, aber tönt chli nach zwei Maybes
I'm supposed to like progresive rock and i still think i do but yes really dosent do much for me yet again. The tracks fade into background and dont ever grasp my attention. I played this multiple times hoping it hits, na da
Wow, did that last comment come back to bite me super quick.
Whatever.
Another 60/70’s rock album with not much substance
There’s a kitsch value to a song vaguely about chess. Yes leans more on the side of pop than pure prog rock. Still - not my favorite and not one I’m going to want to listen to again.
Prog rock, doesn't move the needle at all
Meandering and pretentious.
I have liked other songs from this band. This album isn't super impactful for me personally.
It's very much of the early 70s era. I picture a VW van, lots of avocado green and burnt orange, the whole thing... but alas, it's not my vibe.
This was tough to get through - not a fan
..
This was a tough one to rate... on the one hand, the playing on this record is really impressive... the instrumentals are just fuckin cool.... I almost think the record would be better if it was just an instrumental album (my favourite track is Clap, the live instrumental acoustic folk extravaganza). Because on the other hand, the vocals and lyrics are hippy garbage. These vocals do not fit the instrumental and are a mix of annoying and forgettable. It almost sounds like they're ripping off crosby, stills, nash and young... but doing a shit job at it, in a genre where it doesn't make sense. I also feel like this album influenced a ton of prog-wankery over the years which is hard to dismiss.
Irritating.
To long
Fell asleep 🤦🏻♂️
Definitivamente no es lo mío, hard pass, lo siento.
Prog rock really not my jam. Sure it’s a good album if you enjoy that style though.
I really want to like Yes, but I sadly just don’t quite get it. It kind of just feels like a bunch of talented people just screwing around in a studio? Which sometimes works, but like, it’s not the kind of thing I look for in music. Plus I just don’t like the vocals
Just ok, not as bad as bjork
Wow. What a lame album. Nothing about it is bad, it’s just eh prog rock. “Oh don’t judge prog rock on its first listen”, many will say, however it’s just not my cup of tea. Cool ideas over some songs but others (like I’ve seen all the good people) are just like… WHEN IS THIS GONNA ENDDDDD haha
Ett jävla pågående. Orkar knappt lyssna klart
Meh 70s pop from a band that would blossom in the 80s.
1 great song, everyone other was like 1 min too long
I remember when “Owners of a Lonely Heart” came out and it was huge!! I went back to find out where it had come from and found a prog rock mess that hasn’t changed since then. Some interesting instrumentation but…
I dunno man. It’s fine. Got bored.
Erm, it’s ok in places I guess. Just never really ‘felt’ it. And largely uninteresting.
Really not feeling this one. Other than the last 3 mins of Starship Trooper that was all rather underwhelming and flat. If it’s gonna go prog, I’d prefer far more flair and stupidity. If it’s gonna go rock, well it needs to do something. All we got was some average rock tunes with some measured proggy flourishes. The vocals were pretty dull too, at best a weaker version of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Kinda. Disappointed really, I expected more from this given their prog reputation.
Wouldn't say it was the best album they produced.
I've only been doing this 6 weeks and this is my 2nd Yes album. Were they really so ground breaking? Nice musicianship and some ok tunes but prog isn't my thing.
Throw enough spaghetti at the wall, and some of it’s bound to stick. And, in this case of this most profligate pasta bowls of an album … it does. A bit. It sticks until it’s wiped away by the next load of spaghetti flung at the wall, anyway. Fine. No, don’t worry. I wasn’t hungry anyway, Yes. I don’t mind this record, and there are sections of it I quite like – but it’s often quite abstruse. Would it kill them to let the dish sit for a minute? Would it kill them to offer a Parmesan garnish? Why must it always be more spaghetti?
Didn’t like this at all
Yawn.
Didn’t care for it to much. A lot of “jam” time on it
More generic classic rock picks on this 1001 albums list. It did absolutely nothing to impress me or make the album memorable in any way.
Alright
The only one you really need to hear is Fragile and its best track, "Heart of the Sunrise."
Similar to the other Yes album, obviously impressive but too strange for me to really enjoy
nope
I mean, I guess. It didn't strike any particular chord with me.
We are just on a stinky stinky stinky run of music I don't like right now. All You Good People or whatever it's called is OK, but this is very not for me.
Sounds like a boring jam session for the most part
🎸Beedly beedly beedly beedly beedly…sigh.
2.5 tbh
A typical 70s rock jam.
Böring böring.
I am not a fan of prog, not a fan. But I did not hate this nearly as much as I expected. The B3 keyboard playing of Tony Kaye is far less pretentious and widdly-widdly than the subsequent synthesizer overkill of Rick Wakeman. New boy Steve Howe hasn't gone full prog yet, either. This still sounds like a rock band, as opposed the over-arranged clever-clogs, full blown progressive of the 70s that was right around the corner. As with all prog albums, moments of rock and roll appear, only to be lost in a swamp of tedium. All talk and no bloody trousers. Even Classic Rock magazine thinks this album is not up to par but could have been, and they _like_ this stuff. What chance does a non-prog fan have? According to wikipedia, they were on the verge of being dropped by their label, but avoided this by manipulating the charts to goose the release until it got its own sales legs. Prog: it's the emperors new music.
No, not really.
1. NO. Longest song ever. 2. Eh. 3. …….it lost me. Prog rock is not my jam. I can’t exactly say it’s bad, but…it’s bad for ME.
it left no impression on me. apparently this band popularized prog rock. i thought i knew what prog rock is but i guess i don’t. i don’t hate it but i don’t like it either. just a big meh.
can't really get into the album, maybe i'm just not really a fan of prog rock
Yes this was an album
FAVO: I've seen al good people, A venture
Don’t like it two stars
This is definitely not my kind of music, neither something I would put on to listen to actively, or to have in the background. But as a once off listen, I had no quibbles. It was an easy listen, and the intrumental breaks were pretty.
I looked and saw 6 tracks and was like “wow, this one is going to be easy” and then I remembered that it’s prog rock. Coming in, I was only familiar with “I’ve Seen All Good People” which is like on of the quintessential radio prog bops of all time. I did not know what to expect beyond that track. Overall, it’s the keyboard playing that stands out above anything else on this record. I think there were a few times where songs dragged on too long and some of the playing got repetitive even if it was outstanding instrumentation (i.e. Starship Trooper). For me, it’s definitely got a lot of things that are well done musically, but not something I would feel like I need to come back to ever again. I’m good with just hearing “I’ve Seen All Good People” pop up on the radio while on long drives. Probably a prime candidate for 2.5 stars if that were possible.
the first album in their true form, showing some hints of the longform EPIC songwriting that would fully come to fruition on future albums. never found myself attached to this one outside of a couple moments, namely the main riff of Starship Trooper & the very end of Perpetual Change. several of the tracks are unnecessarily long & not in a noodly prog way; it feels like something is established & then stretched really thin when it could have been 3+ minutes shorter. The Clap is kinda cool & you go "wow that was a neat change of pace glad it didn't overstay its welcome!" and then the next track has another section just like it. best parts of this for me are easily Chris Squire's unmistakable bass tone that always stands out in the mix, & Bill Bruford doing some wacky broken figures in his grooves that open up the kit in a really cool way. i'm a little tough on this album for only containing fragments of what make the next few of their records so good, better things to come!!!
um
The reason punk exists
In Ordnung, hat mich aber nicht gepackt.
high two, low three. this album just didn't do much for me.
Remember that sweet review about my father-in-law and the Billy Joel album he gave me? Well he also gave me a bunch of Yes albums... I don't like Yes, and I have no sentimental memories that revolve around any of their albums.
no 2/5
So, I really liked the previous album I had by Yes. I thought it was creative and fun and original and carried a really unique sound. But, after hearing this, I'm convinced that Yes is a bit of a one-trick pony. And I hate that that's how I feel. The sense I get from this album is that it was a warmup for their follow up, "Fragile." They perfected the long song formula on that album, and it all hits much better there than it does here. Also, that album isn't filled with 6 minute songs (or longer). This album is, and it feels like a marathon 42 minutes because of that. To add to that, the longer songs themselves don't really feel as well flushed out as they would on Fragile. Here, they feel more like a collection of ideas that they didn't know how to extend into full songs, and so instead threw them together as one long track. Sometimes those ideas feel connected, sometimes they don't. And that unpredictability, at least to me, made this feel like a much longer album than it actually is. I wanted to love this, but I just couldn't get there. Two stars. Standout Tracks: The Clap, A Venture, Starship Trooper
Osaisinpa innostua progetiluttelusta.
Meh
meh. Some songs were kind of interesting, some were tedious. There wasn't enough new here to make me want to listen to more.
This was not for me. I can appreciate that it probably holds a special place in rock music history. But it just wasn’t for me.
Not for me. I'm sure this is a fine example of prog rock, but I just find it intensely boring, and I hate the vocals.
Day 75 - Dec 8th, 2024 The no album. 2/5
# 380 : I don't love it, I don't hate it. A couple of things stood out but I thought it was very ordinary. Quiet forgettable and I doubt I'll ever go back to this. It started off alright, but the music is benign, and the vocals are easily ignored with some of the songs just going on too long.
Do you like rock music? If you do then this album is for you. I don't like this album. The beats are decent. I don't like that they sing together. The other songs are decent I guess I woulnt recommend this album.
Its okay not bad give it 2 out 5. The beat is mid i dont like the covert art looks weird. And also i dont like the album name like they really couldnt think of anything else. Also feel like its a rock song and i dont like rock songs. i do like the guitar the drums.
Do you like bands that make half of their songs instrumental before getting into lyrics? The yes album by Yes is the album I would recommend to you. Each song they make has a different vibe from the rest, one can be calm while another one can give you country vibes. They do take advantage of the bass and have parts in which you could only hear it. It's great I love it. There can be song which don't even have lyrics yet you could still jam to it, such as "the clap". Overall good album, I do recommend.
have you ever listened to an album and thought their would be singing and lyrics thats what I thought for the album clap I think that it was bad because their was no lyrics at all in the album although I know their are songs that have done good without the lyrics and singing I think that this is just bad I really don't like anything that is being played in the album I think clap is a bad album and don't recommend listening to it
Do you like catchy music? If so, then this is the album for you. The song The Clap is only instrumental, but in the song A venture has some lyrics, and their voices are pretty good. In my opinion, the instraments are way better then the lyrics. So, in my opinion you should not listen to this album.
I don't really like it so much because they take so long to singer and 2nd sog the same thing as number one.
Too noodly for my liking, but I liked the last couple songs.
more like a 2.5. not bad. there’s some good moments but it’s not an album i’d come back to probably
Plus one star because I’m sure Eloïse will hate it.
Det här måste man nog lyssna på en del innan man kan tycka om det.
doesn't even have a jojo reference
its a yes album. its a mid from me.
Struggled with this one. Found it boring. Didn't like the vocals. Some of the instrumentation was interesting/pleasant, but that's not enough.
It was OK. Didn’t invoke feelings or emotions. Good guitar licks tho.
Meh. Its not bad, but its also the most generic british 70s/80s rock you can possibly get. Puts me right to sleep. 2/5
I don’t mind a bit of prog, but this was cheesy.
I've always wanted to get into prog, everyone seems to rave about it. Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson. And Yes. I've heard of Yes but never heard any of their stuff (except for Owner Of A Lonely Heart). As much as I wanted to get into this album, I really couldn't. I'm not sure what it is that gets other people into this kind of stuff. I mean the musicianship is great, different time signatures. But in terms of songs and as an album I just couldn't find anything to hook me in.
Kai se on todettava, että 70-luvun rock/musiikki ei vaan toimi itselle.
2.5 My husband says there’s no such thing as a bad prog rock band. Yes isn’t bad.
The Good: a band that is confident enough to name the record in third person reference to themselves... The Bad: it is a misnomer, even in third person, as it should have been The No... The Ugly: the bad prog... Oddly enough, I was always under the impression "Good People" was a The Who song... I should apologize to them... 1 1/2 * because they do know how to play their instruments, just not in a pleasant
Prog rock. A difficult listen at times. Won't be listening to again
Tooooo much I don’t like this Okay wait, I’ve seen all good people is good Everything else, not my vibe :/
I’m not a massive prog rock fan, so more than 1 yes album on this list is too much for me.
It was alright
What have i just been listening to? I appreciate the way they have been creative with the longer tracks. But no. nooo.
Eh it's ok. British Rock is just not my kind of thing. Some really fun guitar work, though, especially in The Clap and Perpetual change. Starship Trooper is a 3 part song, first two parts were ok, but Part C was a banger. Best song: The Clap
Album #300! I'm a little under a year and a half into this, making a some good progress and really enjoying it on the whole. This is my second Yes album, this one came a year before Close to the Edge (which I think I listened to exactly a year ago at album #49). I have to be honest, I don't think I get the Yes thing. It's like super "prog-y" prog rock. I think they're clearly very talented musicians, but I just feel like every song is just trying to show off how technically good they are and not about actually making enjoyable music. There's a few ok songs on here, but it just gives jam band but the jams aren't particularly fun. I guess I'm a Yes hater, I don't quite get it. Favorite song: I've Seen All Good People Other: Starship Trooper 10/11/24
Couldn’t they decide who was going to be the lead singer?
Prog Rock! Yes but… No but!
I really dislike 70’s prog rock. Reminded me of Rush, but slightly less annoying.
The No Thanks Album
What’s a word that’s somewhere between yes and no but leans towards no? Like a maybe-but-probably-not.
Just totally fine once again. Nothing remarkable, engaging, or even entertaining. Just wallpaper
Some fairly standard prog noodling. When the highlight is just a nice acoustic solo guitar track, I am left wondering about the albums which weren't included on this list instead.
This album is a no for me. If you enjoy prog rock, it will be a yes for you.
Prog rock… it’s the jazz version of Rock music and therefore pretentious prittle-prattle. It’s best avoided
This should be interesting but the performances are forgetful
Boy am I glad it’s not the 70s anymore
prog rock of the most boring kind
Oh fuck this shit
Not for me.
Not hitting. I don't think any of these songs were enjoyable enough to justify their length. In particular, the bass stood out as grating to me, like the wind getting caught in a small gap in a car window going down the motorway making your ears go. Standout Track: A Venture
Aimless, boring progressions (or lack thereof).
Not my thing.
Yours is No Disgrace Starship Trooper I've Seen All Good People
prog rock non lo apprezzo particolarmente, meglio i rush
Another Prog Rock ‘journey’. Hard to get excited..
What
Technically good but not for me.
Im mean its not bad, but I didn't find things I particularly enjoyed either.
I don't really care for the entire album
I could probably copy/paste one of my other reviews from the many 60s/70s/80s prog albums on this list. Good musicianship but just doesn't feel like the songs go anywhere with all the meandering
not the vibe i expected
A little more acoustic than I thought but very boring.
Some songs are fine.
least fav prog band idk i never got them 2.5
Osaisinpa innostua progetiluttelusta.
6/10 Highlights: I've Seen All Good People
It is not bad but neither good. Some of the songs have some catchy moments where it is enjoyable. As the album never caughts my full attention, is just fine to have playing in the background. Not something Would re-rotate for a full and attending listening. 2/5
Meh. Didn't hook me.
I have never wanted to listen to Yes, It was too "Prog Rock" for me. Even though a lot of the music I like could be said to be "Prog". A case in point: I was excited to hear about recent announcement about the Beat band who are playing the music of 80s King Crimson, made up of half of that band at the time. They were asked to define the difference between "Prog" and "Jazz Fusion" and I think they said that Prog still has written parts whereas Fusion is still more improvisation led. So maybe I am just more of a Jazz Fusion guy. I quite enjoyed this album until the singing started. I can't stand Mr. Yes's voice. It's thin and weedy and horrible. So I can't see myself getting into Yes in the near future. 2 stars
So boring.
2/5
The boring part of prog rock
Not my jam. A little self indulgent.
Couldn't really get into this to be honest. Felt like a chore.
I can’t get into any more of this 70s prog rock. I need smaller doses. Perhaps if I’d listened amongst other genres I’d be ok but this has been a long streak of 70s rock. I had to go back to Guns and Roses to feel better.
Mid
No on the yes album.
Nothing special
I just feel like there’s a lot of finger picking and acoustic guitar solos throughout this album. I’m not saying I’m against it but there’s only so much one person can handle. It sounded like I was walking past a busker on the side of the road who just kept walking behind me strumming away
Yes? No thanks. Music for musos who like to sit and marvel and the wibbling technical expertise.,No heart or emotion. And Jon Anderson’s voice gets a no from me
This album will give you The Clap.
Didn’t listen to it all. Not my thing!
Somehow underwhelming.
Wasn’t aware of what prog rock actually was until listening to this album. I really didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me a bit.
I am really struggling with the dad rock bands. It all sounds the same
It’s been real. It’s been fun. It’s been real fun, Pat
No!
a lot of sounds that can be used as cool samples for hip hop. boring stuff but cool cool sounds
Not my thing
I like the instrumentals
Why the fuck do I need to listen to more of this boring ass prog rock band when the roundabout albums already been on here and I didn’t even like that one. I’ve seen good people can’t carry an album like how roundabout apparently could. Bring back Kacey musgraves.
1. dizgrace - 1.5 2. the clap - 0 3. trooper - 1.5 4. good people - 1 5. venture - 0 6. change - 1 7. your move - 0 8. life zeeker - 1 9. the clap - 1
If this challenge has taught me anything, it's that I thoroughly dislike prog rock. I'll be nice and round up from 1.5, since I don't loathe this quite as much as, say, Slipknot, so giving them the same rating feels wrong.
mimimimimi
Frankly, I think I just do not really like prog rock. The songs on this album are interminably long and never feel like they're really going anywhere. I like the instrumentation and I enjoyed the solos, but I mostly just found myself wondering if this song was over and we were on to the next one yet.
I've come to the realization that I don't like progressive rock. When I'm looking at the track list and see that most songs are 6+ minutes...I can't. That being said, it's not like this didn't sound good. It did. But it's really not for me. 2/5
There were no stand out songs nor were there any terrible ones either. Just a OK. 2.5/5
Its ok, but weird.singing kills it for me
I like the instrumental music. I do not like it when they start singing.
Mediocre and repetitive
No.. Dog mindre kedeligt end det forrige album vi hørte. Jeg kende faktisk én sang denne gang.
I can't stand Jon Anderson's voice. The music is overwrought.
I think I enjoyed the vibe because it reminded me of roundabout lol (a jojo reference?👀) but other than that not too notable
Sorry Yes! Is a No! for me. This just sounds like generic background music you'd hesr in that 70's show. That that's where I want this to stay.
No
Gave it a listen and wasn’t engaged. This is my second Yes album and I just don’t connect with the singing or music. 2/5.
Ok. Don’t really like his voice.
Not really a fan of yes. I find it noodley, masturbatory and quite boring. Sure there are some nice and catchy riffs here and there ("Yours is No Disgrace" and "Perpetual Change" to name two). It just feels like it lacks some kind of hook really.
Silly prog album. Not a fan of this band. Saying No to Yes.
Prog rock silliness. I just have never been into Yes. No matter how hard I try. It’s just overlong jam band shenanigans. I will say that they are fantastic musicians. I just personally don’t get it.
Würde ich mir nicht nochmal anhören, langweilg
No.
Not a huge yes fan. But appreciate the intricate guitar and rhythmic pieces
More like the No Album
Not really my cup of tea, but not too bad either. Glad I listened to it and I now know who Yes is.
Basic background music tbh
meh
Did not resonate with me
meh
Bah encore du rock progressif, quoi. La sélection générale n'est pas pas très variée, dans l'ensemble. Plutôt orientée vieux blancs anglo-saxons...
70s classic rock - long epic songs, but not really a good hook or chorus to be found…
It was okay but there were too many instrumental tracks which I tend not to like.
Does every song need to be 10 min and have the same harmonies!?
Was okay but kinda boring
Bor ne...Dudel
has one of Yes’ best songs “I’ve seen all good people” the rest is fine
nah
Yours Is No Disgrace - Feels like a rush song with out the sparkle, like a jam session. The layred harmonic melody reminds me of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. I've heard the name Yes but i never knew what music they were. They quite confortably fit in between Rush and Led Zepplin with an influence of Beatles. Not something im overly interesting.
Has some nice moments (e.g., parts of I’ve Seen All Good People) but they are all ruined by overly long, complicated noodley songwriting.
Not that good
This sounds like walking into Guitar Center on a busy weekend.
Parece que va a ser bonico, pero es bastante rollo. Un poco musical inventado. Cantan bien. No lo volvería a escuchar.
Didnt like
2/5
No thanks There seems to be an overabundance of 70s prog rock on this list 2.5/5
The shorter material worked for me, the clap (live version) and your move are great, but not a fan of 70s prog and this didn’t dissuade me from that opinion. Occasionally good moments but swamped in wankery.
2 stars, ok soft/passive listening but there are no bangers here
Meh
Pretty inoffensive but nothing that caught my fancy much either. Crazy they're still releasing new albums and have had over 20 members! Favorite track: Starship Trooper
Dislike for the Yes confirmed. Most notable negative is the singing because you will occasionally hear a good instrumental lock in underneath.
Nah
Not a greyProg fan but this was ok.
Fun background music, but not something I would turn on.
I know 2 songs on this record from hearing it on the radio. I'd never put it on, but my ears didn't hurt from hearing it either. Not for me.
I still don’t like Yes.
pretty clunky.
Voelde het niet echt, saai generic rock album
No variety. Whiny.
Parece que va a ser bonico, pero es bastante rollo. Un poco musical inventado. Cantan bien. No lo volvería a escuchar.
I couldn’t finish it. It made me angry
Hoy no le he podido prestar mucha atención, pero creo que me ha gustado más que el de Fragile. Lo tendré que volver a escuchar. 2.5/5
My opinion on yes did not change. Technically this should be a band I adore but just can't get into them.
Meh!
Guitar is very cool, the songs feel a bit all over the place tho Second song was my favourite The 9 minute songs were just too much for me, couldn’t really get into any of them 2/5
Not my vibe. I can hear some of the sounds of the 70s come through and the doors vibe with the keys. I did enjoy the 9 min long early prog rock vibes.
Good but not for me.
the arrangements are interesting, the chimes give off a some kind tavern mood, also some more classical music stuff like organs used, feels like a mix of a lot of different genres glued with rock, vocals not my cup of tea
this was an interesting listen. oddly enough, they sounded like crosby, stills and nash at times with their harmonies. definite folk music influences. i didn’t necessarily love it, but didn’t hate it either. progressive music definitely has its place and this band is crazy talented, but i probably wouldn’t listen to this album again to be honest.
No (Lol, how original is that? I bet NO ONE else ever makes that joke!)
I liked some bits but they’re all over the place. Rock? Funk? Blues? Folk? Last song was too much, and the random organ solos interrupted songs I otherwise thought were okay.
This album was mostly unfamiliar to me. The only song I recognized was "I see All Good People". The sound reminds me of Rush, and in some places of Phish. I listened to the album through twice. The sounds is OK, but I didn't find myself getting particularly hooked.
Of the many repeat artists on this list, I have to say that Yes may be be the most frustrating of all. I don’t enjoy listening to them, and find their music immeasurably dull. Knowing as I do that I still have at least one more Yes album to go before I may be free of them forever, I dread the inevitable day that I have to subject my ear drums to this kind of brain-smoothing music again.
Enough Yes albums!
I got tired of this album very quickly. Instead of feeling timeless, like much of the music from their era, it felt dated and repetitive. All the Lonely People will always resonate, but I don't think I need to listen to the rest of it again.
Just not feeling it.
Sounds like prog rock!
Pfff
Oh god, these nerds again but now with extra nerd flavour! It's still gunna be a no for me, dawg.
This kind of symphonic/progressive rock never captured me, and still doesn´t
I liked the guitar but this music is not really my style but I liked the first song
yeah no
Genres: Progressive rock[ Formed: London, England in 1968 Run time: 9 songs, 51 min, 53 sec This is the third studio album by the group. Spotify: Least popular song: 572k plays Most popular song: 26.5M plays Track 3, "Starship Trooper" has 10M plays. It contains a lot of words, but manages to say nothing of any significance. The words make sense, the sentences are complete, but they appear to have been generated at random. In contrast, other tracks on the album have meaning and convey a message. Musically, the album is very good. Yes have produced some good songs, but not on this album. Listen Again?: No My Rating: **
