Loved this album! Loved the Scottish/Irish folk music and Can Morrison vibes. Their Sweet Thing cover is my new favorite. Only complaint is that it’s the length of a feature film and not very conducive to this experiment.
Not really my vibe but has some classics
I love Bowie but within the rankings of all his albums I already know this is towards the bottom for me so regretfully, a 3
It’s definitely funk, I know that because they keep saying it 😅 It’s a fun listen and I can hear their influence in lots of other bands but it’s probably not one I will seek out to listen to on my own.
I enjoyed the first few songs and then my interest tapered off as the album went on. But I liked it more than I expected to.
Easy 5. Into the Mystic - one of the greatest songs of all time
High school me would have loved this (and in fact did love their song “Ghost Town” which isn’t on this album) but now feels dated
This is fine as background music but don’t feel it’s worthy of being included on this list. I assume that if this made the cut there will be more Pet Shop Boys on the list since this contained none of their popular singles.
Really enjoyed this one!
Fame deserves 5+ stars on its own but the singles pull a lot of weight on this album so 4 overall
I liked when it turned into a Dave Matthews jam session during the last song
Enjoyed about half but a few of these should have stayed inside his head.
Loved this!! Did not know this artist before
I mean, yeah 5 stars
Fun album
Ok not great
Solid album! 🤘
She’s so weird and I love her for that
Fun album, nice and short but ultimately forgettable
Love
Might be good for background music if you need to get some work done but not something I’ll seek out again
Really enjoyed this one
Love this band
This album feels like an echo of Ziggy Stardust, with similar riffs used in new ways. you can hear him transitioning out of that era.
Love me some Dylan
I know I should like this based on my other musical tendencies but I just don’t
My birthday twin and one of my earliest celeb crushes, RIP king
Love the theatrics of this album but found myself waiting for it to be over towards the end. But giving an extra point because TIL he’s from Dallas
Love it
This album reminds me of college <3
I get it but not really my vibe
First album in this challenge I have not been able to listen all the way through 😵💫
I have only heard the instrumental intro song before, which I love. Turns out their voices are annoying, not into it.
Enjoyed this one, country meets crooner
One of all time favorites
If you take out the singles, this is what I imagine they'd play in a dystopian sci-fi sweatshop to set the mood and keep the worker bees in line
Two musical geniuses/pioneers… one bland/forgettable album.
Like it but not my fave from this band
This sound like a bunch of 80s bands combined into one chaotic inescapable fever dream. I am skipping the second hour of remixes for my own sanity. This is the music you license when you can’t afford Duran Duran
This one was fun, really enjoyed it. Would probably add it to the rotation
Can hear how they influenced 90s grunge and alt rock bands that I love, and enjoyed the mixture of punk-grunge. But also, a lot of screaming
Not a big fan of The Who, the singles are fine but this was forgettable for me
Literally could not finish this. Atrocious. I checked in on the progress because I was starting to get annoyed only to find there was still nine minutes left in the FIRST SONG. Please no more 2 hour electronica albums I'm at my limit. If I could give this zero stars I would
Liked this one, especially the length compared to yesterday’s! Short and sweet punk album
I like this! Love her voice
I enjoyed this album a lot more than The Who album from 2 days ago
Great album
I don’t really get why this is on the list
Another one where I’m not sure why it’s included. Fine but totally mid
An album recorded in Southern California by a group of Canadians that encapsulates the Deep South and Americana folk rock in a way that feels authentic
I was skeptical based on name/album cover but this was highly enjoyable. I would have loved this in high school.
Yo this was good but the little kid crying for his mom threw me for a loop
The music is fine. Her voice and the affectation she does is so, so obnoxious
🎵🎤Satan lied to meeeeee, Satan lied to meeeeeee 🎶
Wow how was this not on my radar… loved this. Like all the good parts of sufjan, Andrew Bird and Father John Misty with a David lynch sense of humor. Definitely going into the rotation.
Great album. I like the one where they turn into a marching band.
Bro whatttttt 🤯💃
Mr. Madison, what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may G-d have mercy on your soul."
Bar mitzvah parties were never the same after this dropped
Meh
Classic
Bopped my head to this while making deviled eggs for Thanksgiving
Some bops and some flops
She’s the best
I’ve loved this album since high school. This Year’s Love still makes me cry, apparently
Eh
Love her voice
Not my fave but he’s still popular for a reason
Fun album, I wasn’t familiar going into it!
Loved this
Not into the pro-PLO messaging
Joni forever
Just made me want to listen to Oasis instead
Cannot calculate how much of my high school homework was completed while listening to this album on a loop. A perfect album for the yearners out there, no notes
Weirdly I just relistened to This is Happening yesterday. Giving this one 4 stars because TIH is superior but this one’s still great
My feelings about Eminem and his lyrics are too complicated for this review
Yes, this is it
I have unresolved roommate ptsd around this album unrelated to the album itself so I cannot judge it fairly
If I had heard this in my teens I would have loved it
I prefer Pepper over any of this
Love Adele but this isn’t my favorite album of hers
Perfection
Music for straight millennial white men who prefer unseasoned food and IPAs
Music for fans of space mountain
The 5est of 5s
Underwhelmed
Not as good as the rat pack Christmas album but very enjoyable
No notes, one of the best songwriters of all time
Really enjoyed the first half of this up through the born to run cover then it got a little long
The La’s? More like the Blah’s
Love them
Enjoyed but I won’t remember listening to this a month from now
Meh
Used to play chameleon in marching band lol
Man they really hate women
Great song writer
Bookmarking this for the next time I want to feel like I’m a) watching the opening credits to an 80s movie, or b) stuck in an elevator
The combo of Voices of Old People followed by Old Friends definitely gut punched me unexpectedly
NEU thanks
It’s aight
If liking jazz is cool consider me Miles Davis
So good
Morrissey can be a little too relatable unfortunately
Makes me want to listen to Paul Simon
Fine but too long
This is the cd I used to listen to to amp myself up before math club competitions
Did not expect to struggle through this one but I did
A month from now I won’t remember this album at all 👋
Love the Led
Not what I expected when I saw it was a Bee Gees album
Not a U2 fan but I like some of the singles
Blah
Love her voice
Aged like milk
This was new to me and I really enjoyed it. His voice reminds me of Lou Reed.
Straight bops
🤘
Boston
Eh
I am here for hobbit rock
Oasis will now be stuck in my head for 5 business days
This was included as a joke right?
Mid
Lauv
I am BEGGING for no more psychedelic rock
Good background music
Hey so what the fuck is this voice
This album remind me of high school math homework
I loves doves
I cannot stand the beach boys
This slaps
Lenny coco forever
Have to recuse myself from this one on the grounds of Kanye being an antisemitic POS
Texas folk music hits the nostalgia button for me
Sure fine whatever
Heard a radio interview with them years ago and it was so pretentious it gave me a permanent ick and has ruined any potential enjoyment of their music.
I liked the one that sounded like it was from Rent
The band may be Yes but for me it’s a No ❤️ this is objectively bad
Listened 12 hours ago and already can’t remember it, left no impression
Oh good another rock album from the 70s, such diverse music choices
Rating Sade higher because she is not a generic 70s rock album
Your honor I love him
5 stars duh
Stress inducing
Stress inducing
Shallow lyrics, whiny voices. Would like this much more if it were instrumental.
His cover of hallelujah is worth 5 stars alone and LYSHCO is worth another 10
Couldn’t get through this, awful
With all due respect, skipping today’s album
This one is in regular rotation
Kind of obnoxious
Loved this
Repetitive but fine
There are too many albums from The Who on this list.
What are we doing here
Enjoyed it but it was very long
Maybe the best album of all time
His antisemitic ramblings overshadow my ability to listen to his music, skipped
This album was incorrect on Spotify but what I heard wasn’t bad
Wasn’t familiar with them but really enjoyed this
Liked more than I expected to
Wasn’t familiar with them but really enjoyed this
What are we doing here
Again, what are we doing here
