honky tonk more like honky trash shut the fuck up
Not good, no good tracks
Not bad. Kinda generic sounding.
Mye kul rock her!
All a bit dull really. Inoffensive but also boring
Ok, a bit bland.
Psé. Un poco blues
Kind of disappointing album. Lots of blues across many songs but seems generic rock across the album. 4/10.
Bored of these Rolling Stones albums already.
This was long and I didn’t enjoy most of it.
album cover is cool
Es ist nachgerade langweilig, nur mäßig begabten Engländern dabei zuzuhören, wie sie sich auf ihre Weise daran versuchen, den Blues herunterzugniedeln. Alles schon mehrmals gehört, auch und gerade von ihnen.

I get why people like the Stones, but the vast majority of this album just runs together and the lyrics are challenging to hear. It seems like the mix is too equal and it just isn't working for me. Stand-Outs: Happy,
It's an okay album.
Tumbling Dice and Ventilator Blues are the standout tracks here. Most other tracks are promising but ultimately fall flat, and its clear that ZZ Top took inspration from Shake Your Hips and All Down the Line to create Lagrange and Move Me On Down The Line for their Tres Hombres album in '73. Exile sounds exactly like what it is: a hodgepodge of half-fleshed songs, recorded in three different places in three different periods of heavy drug use, arranged in an aimless sequence. 2/5: niether terrible or remarkable
Honky Tonk Beatles strikes again
I know this is sacrilegious, but man, this album doesn't do it for me at all. I am just not a big Stone's fan...
The Stones have always left me cold. This is boring country rock.
this one didn't need to be a double album
about 18 songs too long
1/5.
Not for me
I do not understand the praise for this album. With a couple of exceptions that hint at the genesis of punk, most of this was really, really derivative blues. I just thought so much of this was cookie cutter 12 bar blues at best. At worst it was some serious appropriation of black music masquerading as originality.
Sounds like any other rock album
I don’t know if this is just because it’s the second Rolling Stones album in a row but this was completely forgettable for me, I don’t know what the impact of this album was but i don’t care. I think it’s always bad when I can’t recognise when the album repeats but this is what happened for me.
There's not a single musical idea on this entire double album that is explored in a meaningful way. Every song is a pastiche of the last one, with there being absolutely no variety over the agonizing runtime of this record. How anyone could listen to this and think that this band is worth being compared to The Beatles is beyond me.
Världshistoriens mest överskattade band. Detta är inte på något sätt bra.
Shit
First song was promising then it devolves into generic rockabilly nonsense, I cannot stand boomer rock even though I like elvis
There is something about the Rolling Stones that I find insufferable. Similar to Primal Scream.
Not a fan.
Style of music sadly just not my bag. Some minor Dylan-esque parts, but mostly just that style of American music isn’t a favourite.
Nope
Solid vibes, but the kind of rock and roll that just washes over me. Can’t really make out lyrics, and when do they’re clearly just there to contribute to the overall sound then to be parsed on their own. The original that became distilled down to every generic filler rock ost for eternity
Tax exiles dressing themselves up as "runaway outlaws"?! Wankers. Loses several stars just for that. Lyrical themes included hedonism. Ah, true men of the people then. Rock and fucking roll... As for the music, it's a derivative blues rock dirge with no redeeming features whatsoever. 70s Stones can fuck right off.
2/10

I did not like this album
Not my thing
Not really engaging my ears at all. Feel very generic, which I guess it didn’t at the time. Nevertheless, there’s nothing there for me.
I did not like this one, it actively annoyed me. Maybe I was in the wrong mood for this album, but I just wanted it to end.
Nope
I don't care who I upset when I say this, the Rolling Stones are ass and the world needs to move on.
Please read this with the note that I do not like The Rolling Stones. Wow. What a garbage album that is a gross imitation of blues rock more egregious than Led Zeppelin.
Music for when you want music but don't want to actually listen to the music. Honestly, this was pretty damn boring... and over an hour of pretty damn boring crosses the line into annoying.
Why are there a million Rolling Stones records? Fuck this band.
I listened to the whole thing but did not enjoy it. I DON'T LIKE THE ROLLING STONES.
Whomever curated this list was a big fan of jam bands, and I gotta tell you, they really freaking suck. As a concept, they're cool, but in execution... not so much. This was an eye-opener in just the sense that I thought for the longest time that the Rolling Stones were a rock band, but here they sound like Bluegrass Hick music. It was loud, obnoxious, and not pleasant to listen to in the slightest. This might've been fascinating to listen to as a kid growing up in the 70s, but it is well past its prime, and should no longer be included in a list like this.
I am not a fan of this album.
Didn’t even listen to the whole thing lowkey, didn’t really feel worth listening through
feels like i could listen to any other album of this genre from this decade from which they took inspiration and it would be better.
Exile on Main St. is all vibe over quality. The Stones have earlier albums with better production, stronger songs. Hell, even Mick Jagger sounds like he needs a tune-up here. At times, the sound is so messy it’s painful. I get the appeal of controlled chaos in small doses, but this hour-plus slog wouldn’t lose a thing by cutting half its tracks. I suspect the love for Exile comes from its raw rock ‘n’ roll energy, the charm of one-take live recordings and devil-may-care attitude. But I'm still buffled by the accolades it gets. Rolling Stones simply made tighter albums (and just before this one too).
I will never understand the success of the stones. Boring.
I don't know what it is about the Stones, couldn't get past the first two tracks and don't want my Spotify algorithm messed up by them 😂
Not my style. Very blues influenced and a bit too much boogie woogie for me
an epic, meandering journey through more faux-blues bullshit. it's beyond me how this so regularly ends up on lists of the greatest albums of all time. at times it did remind me of the grateful dead, only without any of the heart or playfulness
Not my style
Over an hour of jangly mumbling white man bs blues. Blegh.
A quick look at the titles and you know you're in for one of the most painful moment of your life : Rocks Off, Rip This Joint, Shake Your Hips, Casino Boogie, Tumbling Dice, Loving Cup, VENTILATOR BLUES, All Down The Line... How the hell can you go so generic for 1 hour long? I mean, even AC-DC can go more creative and wild than that. The result is, of course, plain, forgettable, inoffensive and boring blues rock. It feels like an album made with fillers only. I must admit I enjoyed 2 songs : Sweet Black Angel and Let It Loose were great.
Another reason why I never got into the Stones. It's great that they managed to capture that 'vibe' they were looking for. But it's totally lost on me. There were a couple of glimmers of greatness, but I really couldn't be arsed to find out what the tracks were called. I won't bother with this again.
I'm so tired of the Stones. Why do they get so many albums here? Enough already. Give someone else a chance.
The Stones best album? Its full of padding. Nothing worth listening to. How they miss Bryan Jones.
Maybe I’m missing historical importance but it sounded very generic.
STOP GIVING ME BOOMER ROCK!!!
The Rolling Stones are kind of anomalous to me. I know that they're one of the most popular music artists of all time, but I've heard absolutely nothing about them. I've crossed paths with all of the other artists that Wikipedia considers to be the most commercially successful, but still haven't heard a positive word about the Stones despite their music vaguely being within my sphere of interest. Let It Bleed was insultingly bad to me with how inauthentic the pseudo-American vocals were. This albums is a massive step up simply due to not being that, but I'm still not sold on this band. All of the songs blend together, and the vocals are pretty subpar across the board.
Före: Ha aldrig lyssna på rolling stones förutom deras hits, så ja vet ungefär hur dom låter Efter: inge speciell blues rock, lite bleh
I've tried to listen to this 7 times but each time I have turned it off before the first song was over Aggressively uninteresting and somewhat befouling the soul
A sloppy country blues rock record that never seems to go anywhere. One of the most boring albums I’ve ever heard.
I absolutely do not like The Rolling Stones. I have never liked the Rolling Stones. However, I also had never sat down and listened to this album in total before. Today I did that. I still do not like the Rolling Stones.
The early 70's had so much cool shit going on. One notable exception to this was the fucking Stones. Their boring over the hill blues rock sucks ass and I hate it to this day. Oh and they recorded this album while they were being tax cheats in the south of France. Yeah fuck this album and truck this band.
What moron gave the green light to a The Rolling Stones for a fucking DOUBLE ALBUM?!?!?! They can't even make a good single album. Boring, boring, fucking boring, and boring as shit. "Sweet Virginia" is great, the rest is fucking trash. I can't believe people seriously think this band was ever even on par with The Beatles.
I don't get it and there's so much of it
🤮 They are this folk-old-pop-rock-country-rigid-boring group. Horrible album, pain to listen to quite honestly. If you like them, all power to you.
NO QUIERO A LOS STONES
TWO STONES ALBUMS IN A ROW!!!! FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EAT MY ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wanted to leave it at that but i feel like i do need to explain why This is so obviously the nadir to me of a catalog i already obviously Do Not Like At All. the rolling stones doing boring, stiff, sleazy versions of black music was partly excusable on their early records cuz thats what Everyone Was Doing, and much like their contemporaries they started branching and experimenting as the 60s went on, going thru a weird sissy pop era , making that weird psychedelic thing, and by the time they went back to Rootsy music with beggars banquet they had an expanded palate that i can appreciate from afar even tho i hate listening to the actual music. but this record, the culmination of their most acclaimed stretch, is their full on Back To Basics record even more then sticky fingers, and that means the mode is purely in imitation and pastiche, which is just absolutely unholy (strangely similarly to led zepp's interminable physical graffiti, which also made the inexplicable decision to make their big double album a super monotonous back to basics affair after branching out on the last few records). just about the only thing keeping this from being one of the very *very* worst albums ive ever heard is that i can at least appreciate the hyper-dense arrangement approach...especially the rollicking pianos and organs, i like to hear those in rock songs. cant stand any other aspect of this enterprise, not the least of which that this is their second album in a ROW to have a song featuring brazenly horrible and tone-deaf slavery references, if u thought i had to give them any credit whatsoever for "respecting" who they stole their music from. i genuinely might hate mick jagger more then axl rose but i know im gonna roll appetite one of these days so i may eat my words
Fuckin Stones
Flip flop flipity flop? So fucking stupid
The Rolling Stones have some songs I like but mostly just a greatest hits guy. I dont care for their deep cuts - this album did nothing for me and I don’t really think they’re a band I’d spend a lot of time exploring. Again - Jagger has great vocals and rhythm section is solid but Richards is just not an enjoyable guitarist - his tone is bland
Sounds like an experimental album of a band still trying to identify their sound, genre, and to develop musically. You can hear Rolling Stones' classic sound. Belongs in a deep cut.
Some songs are quite ok and are reminiscent of other blues artists. Otherwise nothing I would like to hear again.
Sweet Virgina was the only thing that did anything for me.
ugh
Influential (blues and grindy guitar laid groundwork for Zeppelin, metal in general, etc), but this is just not aging well for me. Feels as detached from enjoyable relevance as current pop rock for which it's heavily derivative. Beatles and Beach Boys both more palatable contemporaries for my tastes. The "rock & roll bad boy" vibe that features heavily in this project (riffs, bass lines, lyrics, Jagger vocals) feels authentic, but trite and outdated.
1. rockz off - 1 2. rip thiz joint - 1 3. your hipz - 1 4. cazino boogie - 0 5. dice - 1 6. virginia - 1 7. frayed - 0 8. black angel - 0 9. loving cup - 0 10. happy - 0 11. on the run - 0 12. bluez - 1 13. hiz face - 0 14. looze - 0 15. the line - 1 16. douun - 1 17. light - 1 18. zurvivor - 0
Two great songs but the rest of the album was nails on chalkboard for me. Couldnt get through this album fast enough to move on.
One minute bluesy, the next minute country, always awful vocally.
I fucking hate the Rolling Stones
i dont like the rolling stones lol
I don't like the Rolling Stones Utterly pretentious
Awful.
i just don’t care about rolling stones i’ll be so fucking honest. i don’t care if they deserve to be up here, i think anymore than one album is bullshit, they are annoying and not that good honestly.
Approaching The Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main Street" after having listened to two other albums this week alone, I find myself STILL entrenched in the belief that they're overrated, especially when faced with the widely expressed claim that this is their pinnacle. In contrast to the prevailing acclaim, "Exile on Main Street" appears to me as an overloaded and chaotic collection of uninspired music. The album's problematic arrangements stand out as a significant issue, giving the impression that The Stones threw in an abundance of elements without careful consideration of the intended sounds and atmospheres. A notable instance is the excessively (and badly) embellished rendition of Robert Johnson’s “Stop Breaking Down,” diverging sharply from their intricately nuanced approach in “Love in Vain” from "Let It Bleed." Dubious additions, such as the saxophone in “Sweet Virginia” and the overpowering horns in “Rocks Off,” consistently elicit expressions of frustration, prompting me to question the reasoning behind these choices – "Why the fuck was it necessary to introduce that into the mix?" Overall, "Exile on Main Street" comes across as a gathering of individuals attempting Stones covers or a hodgepodge of hangers-on and seasoned druggies, contributing to my ongoing scepticism of The Stones' celebrated status.
Nicht meins.
i hate this album. i hate the rolling stones. i hate rock n roll music. couldn’t get past the 3rd song
Immediate skip. Hate their music. Loathe everything they stand for.
Boring, too long, wanted it to end
Meh. 1 Stern Stones sind ja mal so richtig lahm gsi.
Not gonna lie it wasn’t that good it had like four good song but the rest were either too similar to other of just over saturated with the horrible vocal style of mick jagged not good
Ni terminé de escucharlo, era muy largo y no iba a aguantar una hora pretendiendo que me gustan los Rolling Stones. No hay nada horrible como tal en sus canciones que haga que las odie, pero no podrían interesarme menos. Quizás en otro momento
This is the best Rolling Stones album? That decides it, I don’t like the Stones, especially not Mick Jagger
Super Boomer music
Shiiiiiiiiiit
Wtf
Real disappointing cause I like The Rolling Stones a lil but this album didn’t have a single moment that caught me off guard. Boring ass album
Gawd, the Stones... I don't get it. Maybe if Mick Jagger wasn't vocals? Cause that guy is awful and distracts from anything that might be good.
The Stones just do nothing for me. It's fine. Not offensive or anything. I wouldn't outright complain if it came on. Just doesn't evoke any reaction in me at all really.
I don't feel any glee in disliking something so revered. I don't think I'm a special snowflake whose opinions matter more than others. I don't like writing negative reviews. For the most part I just want to look at how an album made me feel, and try to reverse engineer that a bit. The best music goes straight to your hips and your heart, and examining why it succeeds, or describing how it succeeds, is fun. Examining why something didn't make me feel *anything* is not fun. I don't want to have to re-listen to an album of this length to justify my opinion. I also don't want to harsh anyone's buzz with strongly worded negative opinions, like I'm trying to convince you that I'm right. This album was boring to me, but if you loved it, you're more "right" than me. Love more things imo.
Well this album is no good. There are some decent elements: the tremolo effect on jaggers voice and the horn parts. I think I might like some of the songs at the very end of the album but there was so much boring before it that this album is an easy pass.
This was hot garbage. Particularly Sweet Black Angel. YUCK!
Awful. I hate most music like that and yogis is at its worst. Indulgent, sexist and racist. No thanks.
just kind of dumb bland rock music better rolling stones songs/albums
shite
