Son quienes cantan "Fortunate song" empezó bien, está muy bueno el disco
All Time Classic
Not my favorite CCR but it’s a damn fine album all the same.
Great shit.
Would be 5 stars even if it was just Proud Mary, but it starts with Born on the Bayou and never lets up
Great album. Thanks list for the reminder. Reintroduced to Southern Swamp Rocks. One of the 13 CDs I got for a penny.
Such a fun album. Enjoyment is crazy from this. One of the best albums for a happy mood. Life is worth living because of albums like these
Great album. Classic! Most songs I knew, some new ones. Love CCR :)
A softer five but a good show that the vibes really are great
Hadn't heard a couple of these, but goddamn do they all hit. Love Fogerty's soul-filled crooning. Graveyard train went on a little long. I don't think I knew they were from California, which makes the decision to pioneer "Swamp Rock" interesting to me. I can't find much on why this is. It's also interesting to me that John and Doug essentially dodged the draft for the Vietnam war and then went on to write on of the greatest Anti-war songs of all time. I don't think was ever not going to be a 5
Perfect Blues'n'Roll album.
really good flow
Awesome
i hate niggers
A perfect little piece of swampy southern rock from California.
She chooglin' on my bayou till I clearwater.
5/5
viva el rock
gooood!
An excellent album, with great rhythm, strong songwriting, and impressive range. A curious mix of rock and jazz.
The generator giveth and the generator taketh away. The generator hath giveth me almost all the David Bowie albums and that hath causeth me to gnash my teeth. Forsooth the generator hath giveth me all three CCR albums and for that I thanketh it. For myself, I have not to giveth but the bestowers of heavenly luminence and I giveth them gladly...5 alligators.
After listening to so many random albums - I appreciate CCR more than ever
Bluesy as all get out, it created the blueprint for Southern Rock for decades to come. It's simple, authentic, feel good and just rocks.
So good I’m gonna listen to all their albums now
HOLY GOD ALL MIGHTY I AM NOT THE SAME
Incredible album. Makes me look out for the vc. Can't beat the fogurt
CCR doesn’t miss for me and I tend to hate this sub-genre of Swamp rock, country rock, whatever it is classified as. Every pick I’ve gotten of theirs has me rocking out and singing along. 4.5 / 5
Know these songs well.
Great album. I'm not sure what swamp rock is exactly, but this is definitely it. John Fogerty somehow easily convinces everyone he's from Louisiana instead of California.
10 out of 5 I would rate this higher if I could. Every CCR song and album kicks ass. The Dude agrees.
Let it Bleed came out in the same year as Bayou Country. I love them both, they aren’t both 100/100 albums. But they are both 5/5 I always think of this quote from Mark Kozelek: “It sounded like basic fogerty rock, the war on drugs can suck my co(k.” I love CCR, and this album will get thrown on the turntable from time to time until I’m in the graveyard. The song Graveyard Train is a slow groove, and my favorite. I put the pitch down on the turntable it sounds kind of muddy. This is truly an album that is way cooler on wax than Spotify. Sometimes they sound like the Grateful Dead. Bootleg is so sick. Owned on vinyl, classic pressing, has a 33 minute run time, and the vinyl version I own is a super thin. It sounds sooo good on vinyl. 5/5 S Tier of classic American rock
Love it
A little too “living on the swamp” for me but so good
The album where John Doherty really found his way. Completely inauthentic of course, but that doesn't really matter. Great songs delivered with full-on energy.
I've always loved this album. It's just a little dirtier than their later, more acclaimed albums. But that's part of the charm of this album. The only song that's even a little weak is the Good Golly Miss Molly cover, which is still good. Both Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary are great hits. Penthouse Pauper is one of my top 3 favorite deep tracks from Creedence. Bootleg, Graveyard Train, and Keep on Chooglin are awesome too. Underrated and overlooked album by Creedence. It's up there with their best work.
Well, it's CCR isn't it?
Awesome
I've always enjoyed CCR, and this album's got some of those songs that I'd already learned to love, like Born On The Bayou and Proud Mary. I definitely enjoyed myself, but it felt like some of the other songs didn't hit as hard, which was a little disappointing, as I was coming on in this album expected something amazing, and got something great instead. Probably deserves 4.5, but rounding down to 4. UPDATE: finished the album and thought about it again. This deserves a 5.
Love love love love love this album. Born on the Bayou is my favorite CCR song. Not a bad song on here. Keep on Chooglin is a great deep track. I love their early swamp blues sound before they went straight commercial.
This album was such a good time, I felt like I was in the swamp in the south. My favorite tracks were Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary
Hard to rate something so familiar. But I do love this album.
5/5. How is their 3rd or 4th best album this good
Excellent
Classic
What a fire album. Such a consistent style yet all the songs are unique. Great guitar, great drums, great album.
Just listen to all their discography. It's worth it, and this album is no exception
The second in a six album run of perfect/almost perfect recordings. This is the album that broke them into the mainstream. Born On the Bayou, Proud Mary and many more. Every song on here is a banger. One of the greatest American bands of all time. One of the greatest bands of all time.
Buenazo. Una mejor que la otra. Rocksito 70s del bueno
*Bayou Country* I got to say one thing about the first two Creedence albums is that this they really show how great of a guitarist John Fogerty is. I don't think any album afterwards comes close to showing his Fierce guitar playing. (9.8) ★★★★½
Love love love. Wanna have vinyl or CD now
Perfect. CCR is underrated by most.
Amazing southern Rock n Roll , with superb guitar work , not all original though
LOVE! It makes me wanna dance even when I'm sleepy and it's the morning. Born On The Bayou and Proud Mary can get it. I mean the whole album can get it.
Great album, Proud Mary is the best
Great listen
Yeah.. like a really solid amazing album! Recently saw John Fogerty live and he still gives an amazing show. 9/10
so good love creedence clearwater
Even the songs I haven’t heard of are pretty good, but two classics to top it off.
Loved it.
i was unfamiliar with CCR's game before listening to this album. It was truly amazing. It is such a defined rootsy and swampy sound, very interesting energy. I LOVED Graveyard Train, it was so unique; when it first came on I thought to myself that it had such a dark and groovy sound, and which I saw the title of the song I figured that it fit the song perfectly. I feel as though this album would be hard to listen to while sitting still, it makes me want to move. With this album I can see why people are such big fans of Creedence Clearwater Revival, it definitely makes me want to listen to their other stuff.
Loved this way more than expected. Penthouse pauper is a banger!
Pure rock and roll from the sixties with a bit of country and so simple and so good. Is the perfect mix between rock, blues and folk music. Both guitar sound great with the solo guitar having that tele classic sound that is just impeccable. The voice is also very raw but good and powerful. Just a little more innovation to make it a better score was needed
Rolling in like fog through the swamp, this album wraps around you in a comforting southern‑rock blanket. “Good Golly, Miss Molly” shows up in a deliciously funky swamp‑boy groove, “Proud Mary” finally sits in its proper habitat instead of floating around on the radio or a Greatest Hits disc, and even the deep cuts feel like overlooked gems. Lines like “If I were a politician, I’d prove the monkey talk” land with a strangely prescient bite in today’s climate. After hearing this album, I’ve changed my New Year’s resolution to choogle more and hopefully keep on chooglin’ on… My Rating: 5/5 swamp rats
Et hop un autre CCR.
Poulet, poulet! Poulet, Ow! Ça me met de bonne humeur.
geil
This is a fun one.
what is choogling?
Really enjoyed this record. I appreciate the run time, only 33 minutes. It is packed with jams, groovy and funking tracks, and enjoyable lyrics. A unique sound with also some of the most recognizable rock songs in Born on the Bayou and Proud May. This record quickly went on my most wanted list to add to my Vinyl collection. I also really enjoyed Graveyard Train, I appreciate a good 7 minute song. I won't dock points for making everyone think these guys were from the south even though they were all born in Berkely... Whats up with that?
This was unexpectedly really good listened from front to back and really liked the like beats it all the songs it’s like you don’t really even have to know what going on i’m the lyrics but overall really really good added to playlist!!
Best CCR record.
Great album
Fantastic.
I LOOOOOVE IT SO MUCH!! It makes me feel like I’m in Outer Banks. I love the instrumental parts of the songs just as much as the music!! If I’m ever writing some grand adventure set in the 90s, this is the album to listen to while I write!!
Essential. If you don't like CCR, I don't like you.
Really good. I like the classic rock and roll feel
I listened to this album a LOT when I was in high school. Still love it!!
Younger Cop: And was there anything of value in the car? The Dude: Oh, uh, yeah, uh... a tape deck, some Creedence tapes, and there was a, uh... uh, my briefcase. Younger Cop: [expectant pause] In the briefcase? The Dude: Uh, uh, papers, um, just papers, uh, you know, uh, my papers, business papers. Younger Cop: And what do you do, sir? The Dude: I'm unemployed.
Epic
Hell yeah
The sound of Americana. Also, just found out that Fogerty is one of the good guys so how can I give this less than 5 stars.
Big soft spot for CCR here. The soundtrack of my adolescence.
I grew up on my dad’s copy of Chronicle by CCR. I can never be unbiased about any of their albums because to me, with a couple of rare exceptions, they are all untouchable. This is one of them.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. So good!
Only 7 tracks, which is relatively sparse, but 4 of them are absolute belters and the other 3 are fairly good too. I've always been a big admirer of CCR after my elder brother introduced me to their music in the 80's. If you can't enjoy this then the problem lies with you, not the artist or the album!!!
Super
I love CCR. Always have, always will
Love it!
Add this one to the list of reasons why 1969 was the best year for music. I love the energy of this album and that singer's got one hell of a voice. Makes me want to keep on chooglin' through the rest of this record. speaking of chooglin', it's such a good word. I'm going to put it in my vocabulary to annoy people with later. Anyways, This album's just really fun. All of the shouting and blues and whatnot is fun, the word chooglin' is fun, it's all fun. Say it with me, chooglin'.
Fucking banga
not my kind of music but i like the bluesy sound of guitars on the songs of this album
Love CCW! This album has several great hits. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Love CCR, fogerty’s voice makes their sound what it is. The guitar and harmonica on this album is great
I like it, i love it, i want more of it!
Damn fine album. Fits any mood. Can be enjoyed in a dark smelly bar with a shot and beer. Or top down cruising down the highway on a beautiful day. You know nearly every song on the album, and even the couple you dont know have you singing along to the chorus by the end. Rewriting this last bit. Initially I was lamenting going with a 4 rather than a 5. I couldn't do it. For me this is genre defining, influential, timeless, and so much fun to listen to. A damn fine album.
This Album is sick!!! This is a classic in every sense.
Amazing, I literally added all the songs to my playlists
9/10… southern rock / bluesy
This slaps so hard, Good Golly Miss Molly, what a banger.
Might just be leaning into my sensibilities, but this is a damn good version of the blues sound, especially Penthouse Pauper. 4.5 bumped up to 5.
I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll bump up to a 5, though I do sort of wish I could just leave it there. It’s a good album, but it certainly takes a little bit to get going. “Born on the Bayou” is a good opener, but the solos in the track do go a little long & get a little stale which does sort of stunt the progression / momentum of the track. “Bootleg” is fun, but the last minute or so is just a little repetitive. “Graveyard Train” is… not a bad one, but it’s an 8-and-a-half minute track defined by a bassline melody that may or may not hypnotize you into enjoying it. I found some pleasure out of it by just walking around to the rhythm of it and sort of trancing my way into a groove, but for the most part, I think it’s just deathly long. The storytelling is nice & I do like what it’s going for, but it’s definitely the weakest track here, and I’d easily skip it on any future relistens. With the first 3 tracks here all having nitpicks / issues like this, I’d be very inclined to bump this down to a 4 if not for the final 4 tracks here all knocking it out of the park. The cover of “Good Golly, Miss Molly” has an infectious energy, and they sure do Little Richard justice. “Penthouse Pauper” feels structured similarly to a Hendrix track (my brain specifically went to “Voodoo Child”), and the lyricism is strong as hell. Mix that with some strong vocals from John Fogerty (who delivers in spades on this album), and the track just works really, really well. “Proud Mary” is exactly what it is; not the most special track in terms of instrumentation, nor the most dazzling showcase here, but lyrically, it’s a wonderful slice of ‘60s Americana that must’ve just struck the right nerve at the right time. “Keep on Chooglin” is just fucking rad. I got fully entranced in the groove / energy of it, and even though it’s a 7 minute closer, I could’ve easily sat in it for double the time. Apparently, it used to close out CCR concerts while going even longer, which makes sense to me. It’s a super strong closer track to cap off a 4-track run that just elevates the album really nicely. Is it enough to *really* bump it up to a 5? Admittedly, it feels like a bump up as more of a vote of confidence for how strongly the album closes as opposed to a fully rewarding album experience, but given that I couldn’t find any real flaws with the final 4 tracks to my ears, & the fact that I liked the first 2 tracks even with their minor issues, I feel safe with a bump up. The only real dud here is “Graveyard Train”, and even then, there’s probably a version out there that cuts down a lot of the filler time to make it more focused, which would help a lot of my issues with the track (it really is a nice bass melody if you can let yourself get into it). So, yes, I’ll bump this up to a 5, though I’d rather let it sit at a 4.5 if I could. If nothing else, it’s told me that my smaller knowledge of CCR (“Fortunate Son”, “Up Around The Bend”, & “Have You Ever Seen The Rain”) should’ve been met with full listens to these albums years ago, as opposed to just some of the singles. I’m glad they’ve got two more on the list after this one, and I’m just glad I got to hear one that has two pretty-well known tracks on it. It’s a good album, it’s a fun listen, and at only 33 minutes (even with 3 tracks taking up 21 minutes of that run time), it’s a well-paced breeze, save for one track. Pretty nice stuff all around, and a fair bump up to a 5. The floor is probably a 3, I dunno.
CCR just don’t appear to miss. I’ve had this and Green River in this challenge so far and loved them both. I could have picked almost any song from this album to choose among my favourites. The blues-laden groovy riffs are just a joy and my only complaint about this album is that it isn’t longer, although I’ve listened twice today. Didn’t know that Proud Mary was their song either, so I’ve learned something today.
Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of those bands that I love to hear. There is something comforting from their version of 'southern rock' or 'swap rock' or whatever fake genre you want to come up with. It's been years since I heard this album and I love the cover of Good Golly Miss Molly on there.
If there's one thing y'all need to know about me it's that I loves me some chooglin'. I might need to choogle on down to New Orleans in 2029.
Fun album and I feel like I'm going through gator country. My only issue is how short this album is. Funny thing: ended up holding an actual gator the same day
J’suis vraiment surpris qu’il n’y ait pas Willy and the Poor Boy dans la liste, mais ne vous méprenez-vous pas: ça reste un banger, surtout pour Penthouse Pauper
I should listen to this band more than I do. Great album and crazy to think that this was the first of three albums they released in 1969, and perhaps the worst. The Dude abides. Great music.
Who doesn't love a little CCR? Supremely fun, danceable music. Not *quite* as good as Cosmo's Factory, but then again what is? fav tracks: Born on the Bayou, Graveyard Train
I love Creedence Clearwater Revival. You just immediately feel like a red-blooded American out on the Bayou. Idk how they do it. They're not even from there, they're from California! Wild. Amazing guitar and overal instrumental skills.
Favorite Track: Born On The Bayou
Sadly another case of white boy got it.
Short sweet and good with some classica
I like CCR all the way. This album has two great classics, but it's solid and consistent the whole way thru
CCR rules!
Some great blues here. A cracking voice and great guitarwork. A few well-known tunes (Good Golly Miss Molly, Born on the Bayou, Proud Mary) alongside some complimentary counterparts. Enjoyed. Would listen again. Who has time for more than 30 minutes of music anyway.
Great stuff
Really enjoyed it, not very long, very rock and rolly and bluesy, Born On The Bayou, Bootleg, Proud Mary are all bangers.
The start of greatness.
chooglin' verb • to ball and have a good time | I'm just a chooglin' on down to New Orleans. Origin: John Fogerty I woke up this morning and saw today's album. I said to myself "hell yeah". Needless to say, I've been chooglin' all damn day.
Repeat
This was a great album
Cosmos Factory would also be a five
Raw, elemental and earthy. Tight songs and performances. No psychedelic excess.
I feel like I can never get bored of CCR, constant enjoyment throughout
I have always thought Cosmos Factory was my favorite Credence album but this is quite good.
Very cool, bluesy swamp rock. Amazing vocals and guitar solos. It's definitely an album i want to go back to soon. Keep On Chooglin is one of the coolest songs ive heard in a while.
This album is just perfection to me. Not a single bad track. Fantastic vocals, great musicianship, endlessly catchy, versatile, I could go on. I went back and listened to a majority of it multiple times throughout the day. It's just the perfect package. If you asked me to pick a favorite song from the album, I don't know if I could manage to. Born on the Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly, and Proud Mary are probably my top contenders.
This was in my dad's record collection, and was one of our favorites. Five stars just for the memories, but I think it still holds up.
Listened to it twice
Pretty good country rock. Short and sweet.
Had the album years ago and love it!
I’ll always say Creedance is a 5. How could it not be? It’s timeless and universally loved.
I love CCR. This is especially true of their run from “Green River” through “Cosmo’s Factory.” That being said, this album has the genesis of much of that sound, as well as two stone cold classics in “Born on the Bayou” and especially “Proud Mary.” It’s a 4.5 that gets the boost to 5 for what John Fogerty and the band were forging.
Great - the Mix of Roots Rock, Swamp Rock, Country Rock and Blues Rock - A Milestone
classic rock, of the finest kind - rootsy, real, and timeless
Love this band
This album is amazing. Proud Mary has always been a great song and the rest of the album is great too
Hell yeah
Blijft leuk.
Really enjoyed Good Golly Miss Jolly... No further commentary apart that's one of CCR's best albums.
10/10. Only 7 songs but there are no skips.
Like it
An extremely easy on the ears bluesy swamp rock album, by a great band out of San Francisco
it's not my favorite CCR album, but it's definitely not my least favorite. i am a big CCR fan, so, shocker, i do love this album anyways. for me, the tracklist is not as strong as some of their next few, but this is the first REAL CCR album. of course, there are some stone cold classics here that still get radio play. some of the album tracks here are a little forgettable, but still have that great sound. this is john fogerty and co. coming into their own. it's not the most consistent, but it is them becoming the rock staples that they are now.
ONE OF THE BEST ROOTS ROCK ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. HELL YEAH AMERICA
The bops just don’t stop.
We were at a Springsteen show like 30yrs ago and it was pouring-Bruce and the band came out and sang Who'll Stop the Rain and that's when I realized omg Creedence! WOW. CCR!! As I age so does my appreciation for this totally kick ass band. They were always part of the social fabric at our house, but I never realized how good these guys were until I was like 25yrs old - so solid, so sure so bluesy, raunchy, raw, polished, rebellious, angry, tender, packed with classics and pure talent - they tapped into sthg that can only be explained by 'they just get it'. And they transcend - last track Keep on Chooglin' was trancelike. Love this album!
Chooglin’ pushed it from a 4 to a 5, loving this one
Some of the best memories of me becoming an adult are with CCR!
I've long since known about Born On the Bayou and Proud Mary. Those are classic rock legends. I'm curious to see how the rest of the album compares to what I've already known. ---------------- I feel like Graveyard Train dragged on a bit, but I don't think that detracts much from the album as a whole. Excellent swampy blues rock.
Great
very good
CCR always rips.
the only thing my extended family is right about is this album rocking
Fun
Think this is the 3rd Creedence album we get on this list. I used to think Creedence was boring and tame, but the albums on this list has changed my mind. Sure, it's still a bit of dad rock, but man, they sure know how to pack an album with good songs. While 'Proud Mary' certainly is the most recongizable song on this album, pretty much all tunes are good. 'Born On The Bayou' is a great album opener, and they continue to deliver after that. I think I've overlooked in the past just how much of an impact John Fogerty's voice makes for these songs as well, real stellar. I made a huge mistake by not giving Cosmo's Factory 5 stars, so even though I consider this a 4 star album I'll give it 5 stars as compensation.
Front to back dope ass album. Production is top tier. Song writing is top tier. This album could get a release date today and stand up to all the rock revivals productions and annihilate them all.
Excellent album!Truly a classic! 5
I already knew the mega-hits of Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary (which I didn’t realize was originally a CCR song), but I enjoyed the other songs I didn’t know a lot! I don’t think there was a single bad song on this album.
Another great CCR record, they were prolific in the late 60s, this isn't their best album but still 5 stars for me, Fogartys vocals, the guitar work all great, the rhythm section for CCR is brilliant too
Hell yeah, already heard this! Love it always
I just love CCR man. They are such a solid and groovy rock band that was one of the best in the 60s! I have this album on vinyl so I will be listening to it for many years to come. This album is 60s rock perfection.
Sensational swamp songs.
Great southern rock album. Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou and Good Golly Miss Molly are particular highlights.
I mean come on. It's a classic for a reason. we all love CCR. Do we listen to CCR on a regular basis? No. Am I speaking for a lot of people in the way I'm typing now? Yes. I don't care.
Tuurlijk
Fantastic
Awesome album. There are some all time classics on this one. CCR sold more albums than any other American band during the Vietnam war. Thanks for that information Alex Tribek.
All CCR is great CCR.
A couple of monster hits and the finest bayou muddy rock in between. mastapeece
I didn’t know anything about the band although I’d heard Tina Turner’s cover of Proud Mary. For songs I don’t know, in a time I didn’t live, it seems to capture the zeitgeist of the era. My only gripe is the album is only 34 mins or so. Favourite: Graveyard Train. Worst: Good Golly Miss Molly (but I still like it)
Amazing
Absolutely loved it!
Solid album could listen to this all day.
# Album Name: Bayou Country # Artist: Creedence Clearwater Revival # Rating: 5/5 # Comments: Wow, such a quality album. I loved it. Filled with banger after banger. What a way to start the day. # Top Tunes: Every track is quality # Would I listen to it again? Yes
Krindensi...
Тоже база кантри рока, обязательно слушать
Absolutely an album I’ll listen to again
The dude abides. One of my top bands of all time.
big CCR fans in this house
Perfection.
Creedence. You know them. Am I going to be able to listen to this album new? We will see. That's a great way to start an album. What the heck, these guys aren't from Louisiana? They're from the Bay Area? What is Chooglin'? I'm sure this has been asked, and answered before. Fun album. Great band. Stands the test of time.
This album still rocks, and has some of the greatest rhythm guitar riffs ever.
Only know of CCR from the Greatest Hits album that I played extensively back in high school. So I wanted to pay extra attention to the songs I didn't recognize on this album. I have to say, that even the tracks that didn't make the hits albums are amazing. I didn't realize they played as much harmonica as they did. Songs like Graveyard Train and Keep on Chooglin' are gems I didn't know existed. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one for my vinyl collection.
Old school Americana at its best. Awesome record
fucking love a bit of Creedence
Vietnam war sounds cool with sum creedance
This is not as grand as some of the other albums I’ve given the score I will give this one, but I think it deserves it just as much as they do. I enjoyed every song they genuinely put me in a good mood and the length was perfect for what I was doing while listening. Maybe I’m just feeling generous today but I’m genuinely liking this one a lot. It’s not the most lyrically dense work I’ve ever heard, but I don’t think it’s trying to be that, I view it as music you chill out and smoke a blunt to which there is nothing wrong with. Favorite Tracks: Born On A Bayou, Graveyard Train, Good Golly Miss Molly, and Proud Mary.
As ever, better on vinyl! Raw vocals make this, over melodic but changing beats.
Love every song on this album.
Great record! Love the instrumentation throughout this record, and the songs were very fun. Highlights are "Proud Mary", "Born on the Bayou", "Graveyard Train". Bluesy guitar throughout was great.
As well as I know most CCR singles, I'm not super familiar with their studio albums, so this is a great opportunity. Opens with a classic track, then followed by a great one I'd never heard in Bootleg. Third track a blue deep cut. Also Proud Mary, and a solid jam track to bring this short album to a close. Classic, short and sweet. Not a five but rounds up to a five. 4.5/5
So great!
Toujours une valeur sure
CCR can’t make bad music lol - the guitar in penthouse is nuts lol and I mean every song it amazing
9/10 Maybe a bit generous - sometimes the noodling is a bit, sometimes the tracks are too long - but Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary are excellent and I love the general feel of the album. Go on, have 5 stars.
This is a 4.5, but I'm rounding up. Cosmo's Factory was better. I still dig. I think my enjoyment was 4/5, but I'm trying to be objective.
6/10
Creedence just makes me so happy. My dad's favorite band, and for good reason.
Superb. Had it on repeat all day.
My FAVORITE CCR album!
Music to my ears! 9.5/10 ~ 5/5
His voice was made for this kind of music
I had occasion to play this album for my young grandson, and he was really digging it so we decided to get the whole family together and 'play' the music. We gave the kid a harmonica, dad was on the toilet roll trumpet, mom had a cowbell (which we ultimately decided we needed more of), grandma was on kazoo, and I kept the beat with a wooden spoon and a pot. A song came on and we all waited for the harmonica to lead us into a glorious jam session, but nothing happened. Obviously unsure of himself, our grandson asked us "Why aren't you playing?". To which my wife answered, "I'm not blowing anything until I get some music." After the laughter subsided, we all jumped in for a memorable moment that has become a cornerstone of family lore Keep On Chooglin'.
Now this is what I’m talking about! Late 60s/70s rock was just elite. They weren’t scared to go for it and the guitar riffs are magical. It was probably the acid, but let’s just say they were talented. This album sounds incredible, I was walking to work feeling unstoppable. Undeniably great music, they made a new fan out of me!
I listened to the whole album and didn’t even realize how much time had passed! It’s very easy to listen to—it feels like they’re just playing around and having a lot of fun, and you’re right there with them. 9 out of 10.
This is what it's all about, John Fogerty is the sound of American rock. This is the pinnacle.
Swampy, twangy gems Caked in blues riffs run amok And howled into night
No bad songs, very solid record.
Good classic Clearwater album with plenty of energy and angst. always reminds me of the makings of early punk but with the intricacies of that classic blues sound. The perfect embodiment of that bitter southern swamp blues that I'd say is only other album really come close to the level of this one is with lynard skynards eponymous album but even still that lacks the harshness. Clearwater really let the music do the talking and aren't afraid to have long songs with deep complex vocal-less moments to allow the band to meander and improvise but always with that intense purpose. 5/5
It was amazing
Pretty calm, classic 60s
summers!
As the youth say, this was a bit of a banger.
Aw helllllllll yeah
The quintessential swamp rock album.
Excellent
Thank you
John Fogerty was and is important to music and to the U.S.A.
vrlo masan swamp rock penthouse pauper i keep on chooglin' su hitčine
I enjoy this music and his voice is so unique. Albums like this make me go through the 15 shitty Brit pop albums
A classic rock album that is perfect
honestly? this is the best album from these guys i've heard so far. i don't know why the others didn't do it as well compared to this one, but... here we are. this album is soulful, this album is passionate, especially with john fogerty's pounding vocals. some of these songs will save your soul, i think. there's just an aura i can't describe with this album...
Favorite band, cant do no wrong
Amazing album, the definition of swamp rock, you can just picture yourself near the bayou, eating gumbo and drinking a beer. This is despite the group being from SF. I may be a smidge tired of the hits, but that doesn't take away from the rest of the music, which shows how the band has one of the tighest and grooviest rhythm sections around. Probably closer to 4.5 (as it feels too short), but i'll give it 5 as it is on my all time list.
Man this would be such an easy 5 for me if "Graveyard Train" was just a bit shorter. I love all the rest of the songs but that one takes up so much of the album and I really don't like how long it drags. But the rest of it WAS extremely good.... this is perhaps a 4.5 that I am going to round up. This is some gorgeous blues rock.
One of the first 60’s era bands I followed after discovering the Beatles at age 8
Reminds me of my past in my dad's car. Good listening.
Great album
I think this was my favorite CCR album so far. I've already heard 3 so might as well go through the rest. Only a couple of songs I didn't like. I don't like songs that overstay their welcome but these were so good it's hard to dislike them Rating: 4.7
Love CCR, nuff said.
I knew Proud Mary (and a few other CCR songs) before hearing this album. But hearing this whole thing at once is a revelation. The sound is superb. The songs are brilliant in their simplicity. The production is perfect. Yes some of the songs are a bit samey; the musical range of this group doesn't seem huge. Nonetheless this is brilliant. A rare album which makes me wonder how different my life might have been had I discovered this when I was 16 years old.
A banger, love Creedence, loads of classic songs back to back, fairly short, but very sweet.
Stolen black music. Rocks.
"Bayou Country" is the second studio album by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. I like the Wiki-listed genres' swamp rock, blues rock and Americana. CCR being the poster child for two of them. The recording process found seeds of discontent among the band as John Fogerty (lead vocalist, lead guitarist, harmonica, piano, percussion) took control at every level. It may have stemmed from the success of their first album after toiling around for ten years in different bands. Thr other bandmembers included Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Stu Cook (bass) and Doug Clifford (drums). Commercially, it reached #7 in the US and #62 in the UK. The album also received generally positive reviews. A long droning sound opens "Born on the Bayou." That sound leads to a wobbly guitar, bass and drums. Fogerty's throaty voice comes in loud and authoritative. Bluesy, swampy and somewhat melodic. Fogerty wrote the song from meditating about life in the South as he was from Northern California. The band goes on a eight and half-minute blues jam in "Graveyard Train." It's plodding. Fogerty gets his harmonica out too. The band covers the Little Richard classic "Good Golly Miss Molly." Driving guitar and beat. Fogerty vocals fit perfectly for this song. A searing guitar solo too. What can you say about the classic "Proud Mary." Melodic with a great vocal chorus. A band sounding maybe the best as a band could. Fogerty wrote this song two days after he was discharged from the National Guard and was created with taking parts from different songs. The album ends with the bluesy stomp "Keep on Chooglin.'" Fogerty's guitar and harmonica are the stars. The lead song "Born on the Bayou" really sets the tone for the album. Most of the remaining songs are bluesy and grungy. One reviewer said that this album is two great songs and rest less than great songs. I was expecting that but disagree. I did not know Fogerty was such a good guitarist; he rips and sears it through most of this album with the band as the backbone. Some of the best vocals for this type of music. An album everyone should listen to even if just for the two hit songs but there's more beyond.
Amazing. Blues / soul mixed with rock is what’s most impressive about CCR.
Love ccr
The music drips with swampy rhythms and gritty storytelling. It feels like early Dylan got a little dirt under his nails and found a southern soul. Every track hums with a raw, unpolished energy. The kind that pulls you in without trying too hard. It's warm, earthy, and bold.
Love The Creedence!
Every decade, a classic band that we have taken for granted suddenly has their moment in the collective consciousness of tastemakers. First, it was Thin Lizzy. More recently, it was Steely Dan. Today, it seems to be CCR. And to be frank, I think this is the band most deserving of the recognition. It's not just the quality of the songs -- a consistency that few classic bands could ever match. It's not just John Fogerty's vocals, which are not only gritty and occasionally frightening, but also often sung high enough to truly torture any karaoke jokester. It's the band. Put bluntly, CCR boasts one of the greatest rhythm sections in the history of American rock. And that isn't an exaggeration in any way, shape, or form. There will always be a debate as to who belongs on the Mt Rushmore of American rock bands (Van Halen? Metallica? The Dead? The Ramones? ZZ Top? The Allmans?). Bayou Country should certainly enter CCR into a prominent place in that debate.
Increíble rock que se me presento junto a Stephen wolf y marco mi militancia incondicional a este rock juvenil contestatario antisistemico. Blue jeans cabello largo. Bella época.
Second CCR album in this list after Cosmo’s Factory and it’s official: I’m a fan. It doesn’t reach the same level as that album but it’s a really great album with a great vibe and atmosphere to it. One I’ll revisit a lot to be sure.
Great
Wish I were back on the bayou Rollin' with some Cajun Queen Wish that I were a fast freight train A-just a-choogling on down to New Orleans Born on the bayou What more would anyone need to say? 5/5
I loved this album. Good album to sit back and relax to, have playing in the background while doing homework, cleaning the house, working, chilling with friends or family. Very laid-back vibes.
Ich mag CCR.
Excellent. Love the Creedence
classic
Today I learned Creedence Clearwater Revival originated in California and not some Louisiana swamp. They were not Born on a Bayou and they never choogled (which is also made up). Bunch of posers. That being said... I don't care. They made a persona and they pandered to the masses in a way that actually produced some of the greatest hits in rock and roll. Other musicians have done worse for stardom and fame. Everyone has heard Born on a Bayou and Proud Mary. The cover of Good Golly, Miss Molly is interesting and may be more recognizable than Little Richard's original. And then there are the lesser known tracks that I actually enjoyed as well. Creedence may not have been authentic swamp rock, but they can keep on chooglin' in my book.
Absolutely fantastic swamp rock album
This isn't a CCR album I currently own, but listening to it made me think it's definitely one I should own. Graveyard Train's bassline is amazing. Not a perfect album, felt the last song dragged a bit, but otherwise a great album I'll come back to again and again.
classic late 60s rock, and the unmistakeable voice of John Fogerty
Great Creedence album, though not their best.
Klasyka
less ethereal then the debut and less polished and poppy then all the future records, this is their sweatiest, scuzziest, swampiest record. alternately something to wade thru at waist-level and something to zip along freely no matter how many reeds smack u in the face. scratchy and sticky and kinda gross (the noisiest guitar moments really slash thru the air), but wholly masterful wall-to-wall as far as im concerned. those interested in the band as a capital r Rock outfit will prob find the most to enjoy here...more overt blues and old school rock and roll here then on any record other then the debut.
It rocks!
Hard to be mad at this just a good fun time
So many good jams on this one most CCR albums are 5 bangers
Masterpiece!
Dem. Basslines. Doe.
It always amazes me that CCR came out of California. They seemed to master the essence of the "Southern" sound. As a child I always saw them as a "Southern Band". I have heard this album before but it was fun to revisit all the songs.
Great album.
Swamp rock. Proud Mary. Vinilo.
I am a sucker for anything blues based. It is the sound of America 🇺🇸
9/10. Great song after great song. More consistent than Green River. Could have put every song on the playlist, love the style they bring. Ended up putting 5/7 songs on the playlist.
Swamp Rock is fun. 5 stars. Favorite track: Graveyard train other picks: Born on the Bayou, Good golly miss molly, keep on chooglin
69 rock n roll
Quite a good album, the instrumentation is the best part. Favorite tracks: "Graveyard Train" and "Proud Mary."
Amazing that this band knocked out 3 all time albums in around a year.
Excellent
Arguably overrating it, but I can't help it. Maybe it's the nostalgia factor creating bias, but Creedence is always a good time. Love their cover of Good Golly Miss Molly. This isn't my favorite album of theirs, but it's still classic Creedence.
I probably would have given this five stars even if I liked it less simply because of the word Chooglin'. But as it is, it slaps so I have a clean conscience. Perfect crowning on a day of recitals :))
CCR is one of those bands that is part of the "All time greatest" this or that. Iconic.
Really Great album
I bought Thai album on Cinyl about 20 years ago. Just fabulous. 2 massive hits. Plus the Little Richard cover. And then just a bunch of great bluesy rock and jamming.
There isn't a CCR song that I don't love. For their 6 albums released over just 3 years of making music, it still endures half a century later.
Quite good
Any album with Proud Mary and Born on the Bayou on it is probably getting 5 stars. If it has these two tracks and a bunch of other really good songs, it’s a no brainer. Killer rock n roll from on of the all time great bands. CCR for all their popularity and influence may be somehow underrated still in terms of just being an excellent band. They were so tight, had incredible songs, great guitar work, a rhythm section that drove so much groove into their songs, and an all time great front man to boot. They may have arguably bested this later with Green River, Willie and the Poor Boys, and Cosmo’s Factory, but that doesn’t mean Bayou Country isn’t basically perfect.
I mean it's CCr, what else do you expect?
junamusiikiksi keksi laittaa tämmösen heh.. kyllä ne tietää, vitsailee vaan niillä indiepätkillä. laittaa hyvää kun tarvetta on. ja nämä pojat ei tosiaan mitään lutakkohirviöitä ole, mitään suistokammotuksia ole... kalifornialaiset perkele... musiikin tekee nii että pää hyrräksi heh.. a caen ĥuarh mæ howangd doawg baæhgkcin, cheş§yieng dœan ah huŭųduüdẹarŕ... musta mies aloitti blues...valkomies mestaroi sen heh... Heard of Creedence Clearwater Revival before, but must admit, with that name, I think I'd written them as likely to be bloated prog like music. Got that one wrong! Really enjoyed it, blues framed rock, no bloat in sight!
Must listen classic rock
A great early piece of Creedence. Perfect roots rock.
Awesome all the way through
I like it!
There are other CCR that I like more but...
Classic
Epic
Just a feel good time. Really transports you away. Groovy as can be. Short and sweet.
Keeping it under 45 ✅ ≤ 2 skips ✅
This is was the kind of music my grandfather used to play in the car when I was a kid. So much nostalgia when I listen to CCR.
I loved this album. Fun energy. Makes me want to take another trip to my favorite city, New Orleans. The way the gravely vocals pair with the twangy guitars just syncs up really well.
CCR nails the fusion of a classic rock, bluesy, rockabilly type sound that just goes hard. Fogerty's voice just fits the music so well, too. A thoroughly enjoyed album.
Absolutely blasts.
Album 361 of 1001 Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country Rating : 5 / 5 Awesome album. Not much more needs to be said. Just listen for yourself.
Amazing
