Amazing CCR album.
Still listening to this but don't need to to know that it is a 5 for me. CCR all day!
Great album! Loved every minute of it
This sh*t gets me going. I just wanna run like lions and tigers and bears when i hear these songs. I will never stop chooglin Mr fogerty. I salute you.
Omg 5 ok bye.!!
Song No. 2 is considered the standout hit but "Death of a Party" is the high water mark in my opinion. Having gone backwards in Albarn's discography, I can appreciate the album in a way that I don't think I would have when I was younger.
a classic for the ages. in every way. not even going to try to explain. top 3: proud mary, born on the bayou, graveyard train honorable mention: keep on chooglin'
CCR does what they do very well. Might it all sound the same? Sure. But it's done so well we're there's no bad song on the album. 5/5
This album is just filled with tasteful guitar licks and soulful singing! CCR is just legendary!
What a great listen. I really like the back and forth of the guitar and lyrics on Penthouse Pauper.
7 tracks of blues rock perfection. They're all great tracks, but my new discoveries are Bootleg, Graveyard Train, and Keep On Chooglin'.
Honestly can’t really go wrong with CCR. Loved graveyard train which I hadn’t heard before. Straight up scroggly voice
YES! Great tunes
Feels very southern. In both tone and lazy laid back feel. Chill and groove.
A couple of all classics!
I like CCR, his voice is cool and their records sound sick. 4.5
Call me a CCR fan. His voice is great and I just love the way everything sounds. Heck yeah for writing Proud Mary. Graveyard train is the best.
Despite liking CCR a lot, I’ve always subconsciously associated Swamp Rock with the timbre of the muddy sort of stuff the Stones were putting out on Exile On Main Street. Getting the opportunity to listen to Bayou Country all the way through gave me a newfound appreciation for their clarity. This album is remarkably well produced, the musicianship is fantastic, with the longer tracks managing to produce a hypnotic quality in their simplicity, and the songwriting is as good as ever. It’s probably a bit premature to be thinking of the summer in February, but I will make sure I listen to more Creedence come July
Never heard this one before. Really good!
Cali kids playing southern sounds
John Fogerty wasn’t born on the bayou, but I didn’t know that as a kid. I just liked CCR’s music, especially when it soundtracked Scooby-Doo chase scenes. I always assumed Fogerty and CCR were from Louisiana or the South, given “Proud Mary” and “Born on the Bayou.” Turns out, you just need a vivid imagination to write great songs. And as The Dude knows, I hate the fucking Eagles, man.
I knew the band and the singles but had never listened to this album. It has a cohesive sound and felt like I was in a bayou.
Good stuff
This is the quintessential Creedence album for me. 5/5
I love the Creedence
Disco para tener
Lots of attitude from the singer, loving the instrumental solos, especially harmonica. Clearly high-quality improvisers. Up Around the Bend, Proud Mary - absolute classics. Though it seems Up Around the Bend was not actually on this album. Silly Spotify. Kept listening to CCR all day after this.
If there’s ever an album that makes u want to put a dip in, hop in the back of your red ford f-150 and watch the clouds roll by on a summer day, this is it (if that’s not your cup of tea then idk what to tell u). Y’all may be able to tell my preferences by now, but like the Fred Armisen meme from Parks and Rec, you play a harmonica solo, straight to a five. John fogerty(?)’s voice is just freakin incredible and I would go so far to say unmatched by any of his contemporaries. It’s cool listening to this early album for CCR and hearing the bones/formula for what will become a plethora of hits soon to come. Something I found interesting listening to this album (and I could be talking out my ass here) but something we take so for granted especially in live music is the concept of just giving each band member 64-128 bars just to go off, and I wonder if that tradition started around this time, not to say that CCR necessarily started it but maybe popularized it. Could be cool. Regardless, I don’t know what chooglin is but I will be sure to keep on doin it after listening to this album. (Bonus stars for using the word bayou, such a great word). Key tracks: born on the bayou, good golly miss Molly, proud Mary, keep on chooglin.
Awesome album all around
Forget the car, "The dude" just wants his Creedence tapes back. You had me at track 1 "Born On The Bayou".
Made me feel like I was in the bayou. Also I think the ccr singer was born with a voice for 70s rock, it's so iconic.
When you think of old Vietnam rock it’s this. Best perfect album 5/5
Did Creedence make a bad album? I’m bias. Love them!
3 absolutely classic songs and other great deep cuts. What is not to love about CCR, iconic
Gosh this week is bangers. It’s CCR. Every song swings hard.
Familiar songs. Loved the beats especially on “keep on chooglin” which I haven’t heard before.
Some classics on this album. And each side is bookended up some in depth grooves.
CCR was not "Born On The Bayou"; they're Californian and CCR was their second attempt at a band. Still, their music is fun to listen to and their lyrics managed to connect to Southerners to the point that no one cares. At 34 mins, this is more an EP than an album, but whatever, I love it anyway. "Proud Mary" is an automatic sing along song.
Stan
Loved it!!
Enjoyed all. Very familiar as this is my generation’s music. Inconsistent levels in volume in some songs was disruptive of the vibe.
Excellent, I already knew a few songs but Good Golly Miss Molly had me dancing.
I enjoyed it. My dad loved CCR so it was very nostalgic
Not much other to say than classic. I guess for a reason.
Best known songs: Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising I cannot think about a classic rock world without both. The rest songs are even very good.
This is clearly the leading edge of the great albums to follow. The peak. It is singular in that Creedence perfected a raw, rustic, regional (of which they were not members) sound that remains unparalleled. All the songs stand out, but I'm particularly fond of 'Bootleg' and 'Keep on Chooglin''.
I really dig this album! It immediately reminded me of summer and I actually can't wait to listen to it then. I love the bluesy feel which you can tell they were inspired by. At first I was bothered with how long the songs were but the more I listen to this album I find myself okay with it! I feel like I'm listening to a story going back and forth between the singer and guitarist (not sure if it's the same person).
Loved this album! Keep on Chooglin!
Very enjoyable. 8/10
Great LP. Brings back memories.
Wonderful
Funky and fun! Creedence has a sound all their own!
My favourite fake bayou band.
Classic
The music snob in me wanted to like this less, but this is kinda amazing
Nostalgic
Great Classic Rock album
classic
Love CCR, this album was a great listen. Penthouse Pauper reminds me of a Led Zeppelin song Top songs: Born on the Bayou, Bootleg, Penthouse Pauper, Proud Mary
Makes me want to do dance in a swamp. Great album.
I loved every second of this album. So good.
It's CCR. It slaps.
Awesome rock voice. First song great. Fuck yessssss Born on the bayou Bootleg Good golly miss Molly Penthouse pauper Yesssss The first thing to make me dance for 20 minutes straight like a goofball. LOVEEEEE
I loved this. What a nice surprise
A true classic
Not my first time hearing some of the songs, but first time hearing the whole album. I didn't realize how rocking the entire album is and now it's one of my favorite jams.
After first listen: Just love me some ccr takes me back to the days of sitting by Ethan’s pool getting high and listening to them. They got such a great groove and John’s vocals are always iconic for me, this probably isn’t my favourite album of theirs but I really loved their long jamming on here keep on chooglin was such a cool way to finish the album. I also tend to notice the bass a lot when I listen to them and found myself trying to listen to just the bass guitar a few times during my listen. Album covers hard af makes my tip wet. Giving this a five purely for nostalgic reasons but it also deserves it, it has such a great southern sound loved this album would love to have it on vinyl and would love to be sitting shirtless next to ethan again listening to it After second listen: Bayou country is such a fantastic title for this album it’s so mucky and dirty it just sounds like a swamp I love it this REALLY grew on me glad I listened to it again today makes my tip wet -B (ayou)
Loved it
Love me some Creedence. The hits, the jams it's all good for me.
I clearly remember attending a Saturday night dance somewhere in Bankstown, where the band that night was Tamam Shud. And they played covers of a bunch of early Creedence tracks that I wasn’t familiar with (some could have been off this album & some off the 1st lp). Up to that night, all I knew about CCR was Proud Mary. I soon acquired the early records & still enjoy them immensely. John Fogerty was a great songwriter. And a terrific singer. The opening & closing tracks are probably my favourites off this. Personally, I’m still chooglin’ as much as I can get away with.
love ccr
What can be said. Excellent.
i like the music it sounds nice to me
Heard a lot of tracks already. Born on the Bayou is classic. Also Good Golly Miss Molly. Really liked Penthouse Pauper.
This is the album that makes you really wanna dance in the streets
Favourite songs: Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly, Bootleg, Keep on Chooglin', Penthouse Pauper Least favourite songs: Graveyard Train 5/5
Fogerty is such an underrated guitarist.
I <3 CCR
Classic
Ridiculous amounts of “choogle” from the boys who invented the thing. Swampy, catchy, overflowing with energy. Album dips in the middle from Graveyard Train to Penthouse Pauper but it’s still got the choogle. I will never shut up about how their “classic era” consisted of five 5-star albums in 24 months. Insane productivity. I think arguments could be made for The Beach Boys and Velvet Underground, but my personal vote goes to the boys from the Bay Area as the greatest American rock band.
Always make sure to keep some Creedence tapes in my car. When it got stolen the last time, the tapes were the only thing of value that I reported to the police.
Such a damn good album. This is Southern rock at its best - swampy, full of grit & soul. 5 stars, easily.
real deal
Love this album. Makes me want a beer and to play some cornhole
absolute classic
Classic
Just a good old swampy time.
I really really dig it. Love me some CCR
Swampy sweetness.
Favourite band with a great album, nothing more to say
Brilliant. This is one of the first albums I had - it was recorded on a reel-to-reel along with 'Green river' and I played them both constanrky. The guitar solo from 'Good golly miss molly' is still one of the most exciting things I've ever heard. John Fogerty's voice, guitar and songwriting never fail to thrill.
Slimy, greezy swamp funk with assertive, gravelly rock n roll vocals. My grandads favourite band - for him Creedence were the culmination of music and nothing of note happened since other than, perhaps, Abba. Foggerty's presence is effortlessly, unobtrusively cool. The only band universally accepted as excellent.
Classic
9/10 - proud mary keeps on turning
17th March 2023 Listened on Sunday on the drive back from Rita rehearsals as the week got away from me. Swampy, sticky but tight blues from the masters.
Classic CCR. Love their sound.
Excellent
10/10, would catjam to Good Golly Miss Molly again
Yesterday I'd give it a strong 4 out of 5, yet today it's 5/5. Maybe it's my good mood, idk. Anyway! I had a great time listening to this album. Even the harmonica couldn't take away my pleasure.
I enjoyed this album as whole. Both music and vocal was just great. And it also had nice harmonica! I was thinking: "yeah, it will be solid 4". And then "Good Golly Miss Molly" came and well.. it is 5.
9/10 really good,
9/10. I'm starting to really warm up to CCR.
Very listenable. Concise without feeling incomplete much better showing for CCR than their previous album
Endlessly funny to me that these guys were 100% a California production rather than actual swamp people, but either way this album rules. Even though 1969 is basically the 70s already, I give a lot of credit to 60s bands that didn't just try to sound like the Beatles or Beach Boys
Wat een lekker album! Nog nooit echt CCR geluisterd maar ga ik nu wel vaker checken. Nice bayou vibes, voel me zo in new orleans. Swamp music good
Swamp rock. Proud Mary. Vinilo.
I wasn't disappointed with this one at all. I loved the ones I knew and the ones I didn't...although that Graveyard Train was certainly a long track (uh-huh)...
“Proud Mary” would earn this album a 5 even if the rest of the tracks were recordings of a dentist’s drill. Fortunately the tracks still shine in the shadow of that iconic track.
Awesome album
that was amazing
This is getting a 5. First time listen and it makes me feel bad the other ccr album only got a 4. This is quality music. Only downside is Proud Mary reminds me of a work christmas do when i was the new team member and was forced to dance to the god awful ike and tina turner version. We were all in a circle doing this stupid hand motion and I must have been doing a brilliant job of looking like i was having fun because a woman from another table tried to dance with me and i full on blanked her. Her mates came and rescued her. It makes me cringe now. It would never have worked out, I hate dancing. So close to dropping this to a 4.
Awesome sauce.
The best gritty swamp rock that came out of Berkley California for sure. They had a theme and went with it, what is musical cosplay called anyway? Either way they are classic for a reason. Normal favourites Born On The Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly and Proud Mary but a new favourite in Graveyard train for the dirty harmonica. Will listen to again, makes me want to get a pair of alligator boots.
CCR are awesome. This album has some loose and bluesy jams, and some ripping rock n roll. Great example of everything that makes them great. Sweet album cover too.
Killer American icon band and American classic. Steeped in blues rock and soul and yet still edgy at times and rounded off with the super tight crunchy vocals of John Fogerty - this band is one of my favorites of all time. "Born on the Bayou" and "Proud Mary" are true legendary tracks in rock music. This band and album are just tied into the heart of American sounds and culture and I love it. This is such an enjoyable album to put on no matter what you are doing. Active or passive listening- it doesn't matter! "Good Golly Miss Molly" --> sweet fretless bass. Hard to hear at first! Yea this is an easy 5/5 for me.
Grrrrttrreat
Love love love
Fogerty and crew craft a fantastic album. One where each song flows well into the next. All while sounding like the band, and like unique experiences all their own.
Basically no filler on this, their output was crazy.
Ooh this was a doozy. I liked Bayou Country better than Cosmos Factory but that's due to a consistent blues rock style and the long jams which were more prominent here. CCR are pretty good with short ones but they know how to make a song breathe, especially Graveyard Train and Keep on Chooglin'. I've heard Proud Mary various times but I never knew CCR wrote it or knew the song title so that was a welcomed surprise. Also a fantastic song. The title track and Bootleg were enjoyable tracks as well. And with Good Golly Miss Molly and Penthouse Pauper being decent, this album is definitely up there with the best I've reviewed so far. Makes me want to listen to Cosmos Factory again and see if I can change that review.
I think Green River is still my favorite, but this album is great in its own right and opens with possibly my favorite CCR tune. There really weren't any missteps I could hear, and I gave it two listens in a row because I enjoyed it so much.
The house band to the Vietnam War.
Get me a beer and a swamp boat with one of them big fuck off propellers on the back STAT
Good vibes and definitely a cover-to-cover listen.
This is a real Classic. Great Swampy sound all the way through and a couple of bangers. It's good to put on and let run.
Muito bom o sonzao
have heard most of this album over the years. I didnt realise rolling on the river was sampled from here
Great listen, feels like I’m in a chopper over Vietnam.
Album absolutely slaps. I could listen to all 7 basslines all day. Favorite track: Keep on Chooglin'
An interesting mixture of rock, blues, and country, which gives you energy and happiness. There really wasn't any bad song throughout the album. This definitely goes into my playlist.
great sunday
Awesome
5/5, penthouse pauper and good golly miss Molly especially are some of the finest blues playing I've ever heard. Perfect record.
I love their stuff, this one is a nice and tight album with some staying power and brilliant swampy blues.
A timeless classic with some of their biggest hits. CCR is and always will be a unique band with a unique sound.
Fuck yes! I love me some CCR. This is the soundtrack of my early childhood, my dad in the kitchen cooking up dinner for his three rambunctious daughters, the shitty Sony radio on the countertop with this tape in it filling our house with good time tunes. They are the most classic of all the classic rocks for me because of the way they take me back to that place in an instant. John Fogerty has one of the all-time greatest voices because of the way it fuses blues/rock/country sounds into an unforgettable gritty rasping growl. The lyrical content and themes are perfectly complimented by the badass honky tonking guitar work. It's a whole ass mood of down home fun. I can still hear my old hound dog barkin', chasin' down a hoodoo there.
Love credence and even better to listen to sitting by a pool 🔆
Awesome album. Love Creedence
Great album. Different. Enjoyed it.
CCR! True Classic.
CCR !
Ah, CCR. Such unmottled genius
5 fucking stars baby!!!
They still sound edgy somehow, which is quite a feat half a century later. "Born on the Bayou" is ELECTRIC. It does get too jammy at times, but then they'll come back with a ripper. Real vitality and soul on this album.
I haven't listened to this album as much as the other two Creedence albums on this list, but still a 5 for me. A bit heavier and looser than their other albums. Some serious jams.
a couple of super 5-star evergreens and some very solid songs; if played on a decent hifi the album sounds as great as ever (and there are even a couple of better CCR albums around..)
Join Fogerty is a genius. Every creedence album gets full points. This is just half an hour of non-stop hits. 5/5.
I loved every track on this album. The CCR sound is so unique.
okay
Uma banda, três álbuns, todos explêndidos.. não tenho muito a dizer.. a guitarra de Born on the bayou é um riff, uma basee um solo, tudo ao mesmo tempo!
5/5
5/5. Short n’ sweet. Great performances, packed with bangers. One of the best CCR.
Groovy bluesy legendary. These swamp rockers are from California lol.
5/5
I love CCR!
pretty short album, all good songs as usual.
How have I never listened to this masterpiece before
Excelente rock sureño de los años 60 interpretado por una banda muy reconocible
Absolute classic. It's been awhile since I've listened to these guys and it just reminds me of how awesome they were are still Are!
Excellent album
Creedence, forever.
I used to think of Creedence as just a greatest hits band. While I was listening to this album though I really enjoyed the tracks that I didn't know. They really rock on here. I especially like the longer bluesy Graveyard Train and Keep on Chooglin'. Easy 5 stars again.
Great!
Love it.
CCR baby!
The start of CCR becoming one of the greatest bands of all time. Seriously, if they were able to exist for more years then I’d say they would’ve gone down in history as one of the greatest bands ever.
Killer blues beats, road driving music, Uncle Miguel would approve.
Love me some Creedence
S.O.S
Fuck yeah. Five stars baby. I've never listened to this whole thing but it has some of my favorite songs on it.
Classic. All killer no filler
what a classic
Love this kind of music, very old school and VERY well sung
Very short (7 songs 33 mins). But it’s awesome.
Absolutely Slapsssss
Short and sweet. Love CCR.
A classic. Loved all the songs. CCR has such a distinct sound that I really like.
I loved this album! Bluesy rock, and a little bit folk, and country. Great sounds and the voice of the lead singer is incredible.
I needed some CCR this monday morning. Proud Mary is an all timer, but it was great to hear some new tracks that aren't on all the greatest hits albums.
imprescindible
Classic
Chooglin
Oh this album is great! 10/10 not a bad track here
So brilliant
BOOLAY BOOLAY, BOOLAY HUH!
Art and Paul were the soundtrack of my childhood. I never listened to the entire album before and it was an interesting mix of mellow and lively.
BORN IN THE BAYOU
all of it is very good
hitazos
One of my favorites!
A classic. So many good songs.
One of my favourite
What is Chooglin? Anyway, I love Creedence. Not as strong as Green River but still absolutely worth spinning a few times.
Hey Hollywood, you got a film about the Vietnam war? I got a band for you!
How is it I've never listened to a Creedence album until now? Many singles, no albums. Revelatory. 7 songs, 34 minutes. And focused. Swampy. Laid back and in your face at the same time.
And the winner of the best track 1 on an album goes to CCR!
Fantastic
The great american band CCR! This is such a great stuff, I am not american, but I think you cannot get more american than this. Pure swamp, blues folk americana. Very strong 4 stars at the very least.
Not the best CCR album but it’s still pretty good. Born on the Bayoo and Proud Mary slap and the rest hold water.
Nice rock :)
4/5 Favorite Songs: Born On The Bayou Graveyard Train Good Golly Miss Molly Penthouse Pauper Proud Mary Keep on Chooglin'
This might be a controversial opinion, but I feel like the skills of guitar and vocals are quite mismatched on this one. The guitar is amazing, some of the best you'll hear anywhere. The vocals though? I feel like the main singer is stretching his voice a bit too far, and it kind of detracts from the experience. Also, there's some problems with pacing and timing - two of the tracks seem to go on a bit too long for my preferences, knocking the listener out of the groove, so to speak. Overall, I feel like this is quite a good album, albeit with a few flaws which prevent it from evolving into the great album, that tracks like "Good Golly Miss Molly" and "Proud Mary" indicate that it had to potential to be. I don't want that to sound like I didn't enjoy my time listening (I absolutely did), but more that it could have been better.
Solid CCR
I don’t know what Chooglin’ is, but I don’t want to stop. Likes: Born on the Bayou; Proud Mary; Keep on Chooglin
A vintage classic album definitely demonstrates their sound and produce to the most recognizable songs of all time
One of the greatest American bands and this isn't even their best. 4.5/5
Not CCR's best work, but this album was essential for who they became. A couple songs were good.
Important album, and deservedly so. Infectious and mood-setting, some tracks sound a little generic but that's only with the context of fifty years of distance.
Every day I'm chooglin'. Why not five stars (as I would have expected)? Two transcendent, band-defining songs (eight minutes), one fantastic cover (just shy of three minutes), and four serviceable songs to round out the remaining 22 minutes. I'm totally fine with a five stars 33 minute album…but not with that ratio of filler.
Enjoy their music, regardless of the album.
These are some good time fun tunes that grandpa's and toddlers alike can jam too
Creedence is always a pretty good listen, so hopefully this album is as good as Willy & The Poor Boys/Cosmo's Factory. Unfortunately, it's not; while it's still Creedence, the songs here are definitely second tier. They aren't as strong as their best work despite having that classic atmosphere and sound. The only song on the album that is close to top-tier Creedence is "Proud Mary", which itself is still not the best compared to their later hits. I would say that this album should be replaced with the superior "Willy and The Poor Boys" on the list. This album is ranked #7 of 38 albums for 1969. Other 1969 albums rated by me: Abbey Road(1/38)-5 Led Zeppelin(3/38)-4 At San Quentin(5/38)-5 In the Court of the Crimson King(9/38)-5 Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere(11/38)-4 Cloud Nine(17/38)-4 Arthur(18/37)-3 Hot Rats(19/38)-3 From Elvis In Memphis(21/38)-2 Tommy(22/38)-4 Songs From A Room(25/38)-5 Unhalfbricking(26/38)-4 Kick Out The Jams(29/38)-3 The Gilded Palace of Sin(30/38)-3 Odessa(36/38)-2
4/5 - Fine album, Born on the Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly, Proud Mary were all songs I was familiar with before listening to the album. While I wouldn't put the whole album on rotation I can see revisiting songs from it or the vibe in the future.
7/10
Back in the groove. High skills but with feeling. Was 1969 the best year ever?
still one of my favourites, pure nostalgia
Not as good as the 'Green River' album but still some classic American rock.
😜
Great album, I loved the melodic guitar through the album, and also the singer vocal range and tone makes a full joy of a listen, I almost felt like in the old west listening to it, I have to rank it at 8.5 of 10
Short and sweet. Pretty typical of CCR and not exactly a standout, but still a vibe for the right time and place.
p chill takovej UNCS background hudbicka
CCR reminds me of my late brother
I thought Suzie Q was the closing track but realize that was Spotify continuing to play. They should have had Suzie Q close this album because that is legitimately one of my Top 10 favorite songs of all time. It's foreboding and exciting and having heard it 1000x I still feel like something might jump out around the next corner. As for this album, great hits, more bluesy than I was expecting. Is this the most overlooked great American band?
"Bayou Country" features a distinctive, murky, and rhythmic atmosphere that was largely the creative vision of band leader John Fogerty, whose gritty, bluesy vocals ground each track. Running at 33 minutes and 56 seconds, the album is concise and well-paced. The rhythm section of Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford is exceptionally tight and straightforward, providing a solid foundation for John Fogerty’s songwriting. Aside from 'Proud Mary', which has a lovely laid-back guitar solo from John Fogerty, my favourite track is 'Keep On Chooglin’' - that phrase is a totally made-up invention of John Fogerty. Sounds great though, doesn't it? "Bayou Country" remains an engaging, focused, and gritty piece of roots rock. Four stars. Side one 1 "Born on the Bayou" (5/5) 2 "Bootleg" (4/5) 3 "Graveyard Train" (3/5) Side two 1 "Good Golly, Miss Molly" (4/5) 2 "Penthouse Pauper" (4/5) 3 "Proud Mary" (5/5) 4 "Keep On Chooglin'" (5/5) Total - 30 Average - 4.29 356/1001 190/356 albums reviewed were new to me.
I like it. I like this band.
Some amazing songs on here. The two extended jam songs are cool, but keep it from being a 5.
QUE BELLA ERES ARETHAAAA
Favorite Track: Born On The Bayou
Enjoyed this, will definitely listen again
John Fogerty might've written Born on the Bayou, but in fact he was born in Berkeley. Bayou Country, and CCR in general will always take you back to some memory where you were driving down the highway with the windows down, or they came on in some dive bar with no AC and the house started rocking. The opening riff to Born on the Bayou absolutely defines iconism, Bootleg is that deep swamp tune in a musty bar where most the patrons are mosquitoes, Graveyard Train and Keep on Chooglin' are paying their respects to the delta greats and harkin back to Howlin Wolf through Duane Allman. Sure, CCR might make some truly marketable music, but does that matter if you fall into that target demographic?
This album demonstrates Fogerty’s ability to just shit hits. It’s dirty, muddy, dark, and ominous. Love the album
2-3 amazing songs but the album is so short. Only 34 minutes and 8 of those are from my least favorite track of the album.
Good album. The only problem was that “Graveyard Train” went on for too long. Everything else was just a funky and swampy good time.
4.5. Not their best but very solid.
Need more Creedence music in this world Best Song: Born On the Bayou Rating: 8.0/10 Starts: 4
Another very solid and enjoyable album from CCR. Good Golly Miss Molly was surprisingly good too.
Three albums in one year. Not one of them bad. Yikes dude.
Great
I really liked most of the songs, but specifically 'good golly miss molly' I thought that was the best song in the album because it was high energy. As well as being very fun to dance to!
Iba a decir que ni fu ni fa, que estaba bueno, pero nada muy destacable. Por suerte escuché “Proud Mary”, temónn, me gusta hasta más que la más conocida de la banda que es “have you ever seen the rain”
rollin🐊🐊🦅🇺🇸
60's classic
chooglin'
This is the third CCR entry on the list, and this one might be considered a concept album, as most of the tracks are bayou-related. The last track is essentially a concert-ending track, so it’s rather lengthy. Overall it’s a short album, but not quite up to the five-star level of the other CCR albums. It’s still enjoyable for me though.
Light 7.
2nd Creedence Clearwater Revival album I’ve come across on this list. Fun bluesy roots rock. Recognize a few songs obviously like Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary. Good stuff. Fun overall and just rocks throughout. Everything here is good. No down tracks. Love the guitars here. Penthouse Pauper is a stand out for some fun guitars. This feels like an easy 4. Nothing pushes it to 5, but it’s great. Just a great classic rock blues sound. CCR is just a distinct sound with Fogerty’s voice.
Maybe my favorite CCR album
Album came up while I was in New Orleans. Matched the vibe perfectly.
ohyeahbaby
pretty cool, i like the sounds of the instruments, it's pretty great! i can understand why they were pretty big back then
Bayou Country is my 100th album in this project, so it's time for some stats: 5 star albums: 9 4 star albums: 39 (including Bayou Country) 3 star albums: 35 2 star albums: 15 1 star albums: 2 My favourite decade seems to be 1960s and my favourite genre after 100 albums is punk. Let's see what the stats look like after 200 albums.
Alright. Not my favourite CCR songs. 3.5 stars
genial como todo lo de creedence
I already knew some of the songs but not by name. I'm happy it found me, I enjoyed it
Iconic southern rock.
Nice southern rock, ccr is a classic for a reason
CCR continue their run of great albums and make me feel their Best Of is just too short. The only downside I’ll throw at this is that for such a relatively short album, final track Keep On Chooglin’ outstays it’s welcome a bit.
Great album, best known for Born On The Bayou and Proud Mary.
Ben in shock dat Proud Mary niet van Tina Turner blijkt te zijn
Yeehaw Fave: Proud mary
Another great album. It’s got proud Mary on it. There are some songs that are like eight minutes and that is just too long, but overall every single song is a good song.
Great classic rock album
чілаутно
Short, sweet, and hard.
Kinda funky, some songs really hit, others not so much.
1. "Born on the Bayou" 2. "Good Golly Miss Molly" 3. "Proud Mary"
A 4.5 if it was possible. Not totally my musical wheelhouse, but also completely part of my musical history, filled with essential songs for any rock fan. Late night Montreal sports bars would be a lesser experience without this fare.
I’m running out of descriptive adjectives for classic rock albums I enjoyed.
Pretty good album really no complaints
70's master piece <3
Yeaaaaah dawg
Graveyard train is super cool since it tells a story! proud mary is a classic and i really like this one. overall i give this album a 7.5/10. not what i usually listen to but is super nostalgic cuz my dad listened to them a lot as a kid. def worth the listen🙂↕️
Creedence, up till Mardi Gras, produced albums that were great front to back. They're short, kickass, and well written and played. Bayou Country doesn't have my favorite Creedence songs, but it does have Proud Mary so it gets a 4 at least.
8 - it has born on the bayou and proud Mary…
I loved this, such a vibe with audio clip interjections that built a story
I've heard CCR for decades on the radio, but don't think I've ever listened to a whole album. I enjoyed it a lot. "Penthouse Pauper" had some great blues guitar that was a treat to hear for the first time. I appreciate this band's unique sound. Grounded as they are in blues, rockabilly, and other American roots music, once John Fogarty opens his mouth, it can only be CCR. :)
4.5 The two longer songs do drag a bit but the shorter ones are all great. Is quite funny that these guys are from california and weren't born anywhere near the bayou
Yet another CCR hit I've listened to for this challenge. Always good fun listening to them, takes me right to a Louisiana swamp. Proud Mary was my fav song of the album. Born On The Bayou and Graveyard Train (my fav first listen) were my other highlights
I really like. Love the harmonica
Now we are talking, hands down this band shit all over the beetles, and you can’t tell Me otherwise. Obviously they released bigger hits then that are on this album but personally I don’t think you can name a bad song by them. The perfect blend between blues, American rock it just works for me. Americana, folk as well. Voice and guitar work is just incredible. Good golly miss molly and proud Mary are obviously the most notorious. I’m a big fan of bootleg though as it’s got that more of an American rock feel. Penthouse pauper is up there as well just for the actual vibe. All together it’s a brilliant collection.
Strong bluesy vocals , instantly recognisable guitar twangs , classic sounds on this
it's a great album. but it's not CCR at the height of their powers. Such a great band
I love CCR and this was a good album. Some really drawn out songs but nice Southern folkish sound with some blues. Feels like I'm really in the Bayou
Great album …lesser known songs significantly better than those that are played regularly on radio.
A few favorites here, but not their best songs. Still, a great sound from a great band.
Good collection of songs, always been a fan of CCR and this just solidified that.
L’Amérique dans toute sa splendeur
Como pa escucharlo en un auto rumbo al norte del mundo lol es puro rock
Decent
Other artists have a voice, Fogerty has a sound, and its uniqueness makes CCR what they are, which is among the best of American Rock.
If “Proud Mary” won’t get you to four stars, what will?
I like this generally, couple of great tracks and some good ones. Graveyard train is a bit long and boring. Interested to explore their discography further.
I’m surprised how much I liked it. I’m more than 5k miles from any bayou, but this one made me wanna start chooglin
Buen disco, una canción un poco larga y repetitiva, pero el resto de 10
Gator hunting music
Some fantastic songs but also a fair bit of filler on what is quite a short album
Enjoyable! ★★★★
