Pills 'n' Thrills And Bellyaches
Happy MondaysYeah, this isn’t really it for me. Very bland aside from a few tunes. I get the appeal for some people, but I rather listen to something else! 4 out of 10
Yeah, this isn’t really it for me. Very bland aside from a few tunes. I get the appeal for some people, but I rather listen to something else! 4 out of 10
Great, great album. I’m starting to love this band so much! Very good mix of classic rock with a dash of prog and folk. And Steve Winwood is crazy talented. 8,5 out of 10
I'm no big Reggae enjoyer. But some tracks on here i found quite enjoyable! I doubt this will stick for years to come though. Standout tracks: Legalize It, No Sympathy, Igziabeher (Let Jah Be Praised, Ketchy Shuby, 4 out of 10
Drum and Bass and Jungle are very much uncharted genres for me. But this record really impressed me! The big opening track with beautiful vocal accompaniment and orchestral sweeps. Even the songs that are more hard hitting. This is going to be one of the records throughout this journey I enjoyed most to discover! 9 out of 10
Incubus is and will probably be for a longtime, one of my favorite bands. Not the first record I discovered by them, but definitely one with the songs I ended up liking the most. The songs have great hooks and musical builds. Brandon is a great songwriter and can sing very good. But Incubus has always been about the musical strength for me. They make sure every member gets to shine, but never overdo it. Amazing record! Favorite lyrics: - The humanity I know, watch the warmth blow away. - I will hold you close if you're afraid of heights. - You do something to me that I can't explain. So would I be out of line if I said I miss you? Key tracks: Privilege, Nowhere Fast, Consequence, The Warmth, When It Comes, Stellar, Make Yourself, Drive, Clean, I Miss You, Pardon Me 8,5 out of 10
I'm not that big of a jazz guy. Shhh/Peaceful, for my own liking meandered a bit too samey. There were some nice progressions, but overall felt it a bit less. The second song, In A Silent Way however had a lot of interesting motifs and musical developments! I'm eager however to dive into more Jazz and more Miles Davis records in the future! 7,5 out of 10
Man.. This record touches on some very dark themes. Through the years i've only ever listened to the big hits of Alice In Chains. But diving in this record, the lyrics, it's pretty rough. That being said, musically this is some of grunge's greatest records. Jerry Cantrell has some serious riffs and solo's. And Layne Staley can paint a very gruesome picture about addiction. Definitely a moody record I need to find the time for to listen to. But all in all, pretty great stuff! 8 out of 10
This is a great feel good hip hop album! Some amazing sample work and lyrical flow in here. Very good debut that set up the stage for even greater records! 7.5 out of 10
Beautiful crafted pop songs! Especially musically, the vocals didn't grab me that much. But the lyrics were very on point for the time, lot of clever writing. 7,5 out of 10
I can dig this! This album is greatly crafted. How these guys bounce off lines off eachother is just insane! Had a few good laughs with the lyrics in front of me. And then there's the music! Very dope beats and some great sampling! 8 out of 10
This band doesn't really do a lot for me. I guess I do like the instrumentation and hooks of some of the songs, but that's about it. I did like Halfway home, Family Tree, Love Dog, DLZ and Lover's Day. The rest just didn't really grab me. 6.5 out of 10
This record is so so good! And what a great experience to listen through the whole album with the lyrics in front. Musically, Arcade Fire is great, but the lyrics is where they truly shine! Key Tracks: Neighbourhood #1 - #4, Crown of Love, Wake Up, Rebellion (Lies) 9 out of 10
One of the finest guitarists to form rock music for the coming decades! Legendary Jimi Hebdrix, and what an amazing band he had! Front to back great songs, but also some great deeper cuts when you look past the big songs. Key tracks for me are: Foxey Lady, Manic Depression, Can You See Me, Love Or Confusion, May This Be Love, Fire, Third Stone From The Sun, Are You Experienced?, Hey Joe, Stone Free, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary. Basically the whole record 😄 9 out of 10
For most of my life I've never been that much into reggae. Of course i've heard the big hits and while I do enjoy the laidback vibes, I just never felt compelled to dive into the genre more. So here goes! I like the general message and vibes of the songs, drums are tight, great pumping bass lines, nice keyboard and guitar melodies, the solo in The Heathen particularly was very good! All in all, I liked most of this album, and It opened me a bit more towards reggae! Key tracks are: Natural Mystic, Guiltiness, The Heathen, Exodus, Jamming, Turn Your Lights Down Low, Three Little Birds, One Love / People Get Ready. 8.5 out of 10
Not sure why I expected anything else than a Christmas record today. Anyway, still gonna give this a spin! I like it for what it is, some nice songs for the Christmas days, but yeah, I could do without this record. However the project was a cool idea, and while I don’t like the mixing, the assembly of artists is good! 6 out of 10
Classic record! One (pun intended) I’ve listened over and over countless times. But this time I do a deep dive. The lyrics are pretty cool, they’re pretty on the nose but they fit the song good. Of course loads of great riffs, and features some om Metallica’s best solos. Some bass would be nice tho. This is a very energetic Metallica, with some of their heaviest moments as well as very experimental outings for them. Key tracks, Blackened, …And Justice For All, Eye Of The Beholder, One, The Shortest Straw, To Live Is To Die, Dyers Eve 8.5 out of 10
One of those bands where I've only ever heard singles pass by on radio. I could never really get past Axl Rose's singing. But still gonna give this a shot. Musically this is great, the tight rhythm section of Steven Adler and Duff McKagan, killer guitar work by Izzy Stradlin and ofcourse Slash. But yeah, the vocals are a big gripe for me, I just don't dig them. But the songs are enjoyable at most, not a band I would fondly put on time to time, but that's okay. Key tracks for me: Welcome To The Jungle, Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, Paradise City, Think About You, Sweet Child O' Mine, You're Crazy, Rocket Queen. 7.5 out of 10
I avoided this band for a long long time, but now the time has come to check it out. This record, is a weird one folks, I'm sure there's a lot of people that can appreciate it, and maybe it takes a lot of time to discover it's beauty, but for me, it's quite a chore. After a first listen this record had a few moments that I liked, I can imagine this band might grow on me after more listens. Helter skelter, Mirage, Metal Postcard, Switch and Hong Kong Garden stood out the most. 6.5 out of 10
Such a good record! Known this one for quite some years, and it aged greatly. Really laid back songs with the occasional rocking moments. The guitar melodies are really good, fit like a charm with Stephen's chilled vocal delivery. This record flies by in an instant and has high replay value! Key tracks: Silence Kid, Elevate Me Later, Stop Breathin, Cut Your Hair, Newark Wilder, Gold Soundz, Range Life, Heaven Is A Truck, Fillmore Jive 9 out of 10
The first time I heard of Aretha Franklin was probably Radio or in the Blues Brothers movies! Just great catchy music, very soulful, heartbreaking but also mending songs. Aretha had one, if not the best female voice in R&B/Soul music, she was one of the greatest! And this record is solid proof. Aretha's vocals are alone a worthy price of admission, but she's got a great band to back her up, and all instruments are mixed really good! Key tracks: Chain Of Fools, Money Won't Change You, People Get Ready, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, (Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone, Good To Me As I Am To You, Come Back Baby, Groovin', Ain't No Way. 8.5 out of 10
This is such nostalgia for me! Just by seeing the cover I can instantly transport back to the 90's and see my dad listening these records. And what records they made! While Surf's Up isn't quite their greatest, it's still a very solid release. It did have it's troubles but ultimately there's some of their greatest songs on it. Key tracks: Don't Go Near The Water, Long Promised Road, Disney Girls, Student Demonstration Time, Feel Flows, A Day In The Life Of A Tree, 'Til I Die, Surf's Up 8 out of 10
This record has some of the biggest Pop-Rock songs ever released. Especially the first half is stacked with classics! Impressive debut record. Music it's not very special, just catchy songs with a solid band. I was more impressed by the story driven lyrics. Key Tracks: Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Mr. Brightside, Smile Like You Mean It, Somebody Told Me, All These Things That I've Done, On Top, Change Your Mind, Midnight Show, Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll 7,5 out of 10
Queen's third record is a pretty solid one. Has some very strong songs, but also some of their weakest songs. They can definitely write impressive compositions, their vocals taking the spotlight most often. And Brian May's guitar playing is fantastic. Key tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Tenement Funster, Flick Of The Wrist, Lily Of The Valley, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited 7 out of 10
One of the most brilliant songwriters! Elvis Costello's second album and arguably his finest achievement. Great catchy pop songs with punk influences. Costello is a great wordsmith and he features a great band to really his lyrics into remarkable songs. Key tracks: No Action, This Year's Girl, The Beat, Pump It Up, Little Triggers, You Belong To Me, (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea, Living In Paradise, Lip Service, Lipstick Vogue, Radio, Radio. 8 out of 10
Never heard of these lads before. This record is quite decent, some songs that were enjoyable but nothing too special. This record has been done better by lots of other groups in this era. I have to compliment pianist Lowell Levinger, he's pretty good! This lyric caught my eye though. Ride the wind heaven whisper low You can feel all you need to know Be open eyed and open wide and ride the wind Key tracks: Darkness, Darkness, On Sir Francis Drake, Sunlight, Beautiful, Quicksand, Ride The Wind 7 out of 10
I was a bit reluctant to put on this record, the bits and pieces I've heard from Bjork weren't really that appealing, but I'll still give it a spin. I have to admit, there's a lot of beauty in this album. Bjork has a pretty voice, and surrounds herself with great musicians to realize the sound in her mind. The music turns out to be very fragile and intimate. Frosti is a beautiful little instrumental. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! Key tracks: Hidden Place, Cocoon, It's Not Up To You, Pagan Poetry, Frosti, Unison. 7.5 out of 10
This is pretty run of the mill Beastie Boys, Great stuff but also a lot of mediocre and nothing too wild. The flow is great though, some nice instrumentals spaced in between, great sampling. Towards the end it's just dragging a bit too much Key tracks: Sure Shot, Tough Guy, Root Down, Sabotage, Get It Together, Sabrosa, Flute Loop, Do It, Ricky's Theme 7.5 out of 10
Oh boy, first look at this sleeve, this record's gonna be so bad! And frankly, I'm proven a bit wrong. It's pretty generic rock, doesn't really wow me. Just a few likeable tracks at most, Until I Get You being the standout. If you don't expect to be blown away, it's actually pretty all right. Just fun tracks. Key tracks: Malibu Beach Nightmare, Mental Beat, Until I Get You, Beating Gets Faster, 7 out of 10
This is a very interesting album! The synths and lyrics give the songs almost a kind of dystopian grimy vibe. Cars is very cool, M.E. also, the rest is kind of retreaded water, not bad, but done better on the record in other songs. Definitely a record I need to listen more, and especially other works from Gary Numan and Tubeway Army. Key tracks: Airline, Metal, Complex, Films, M.E., Cars 8 out of 10
Oh boy, this ain't my cup of tea at all. Not much that impresses me on here, but most house doesn't really grab me. I notice their musicality and craftiness, but it just doesn't connect. The only songs I did like were Rendez-Vu & the catchy Red Alert, but unfortunately, that is the only good I've to say for this record. Key tracks: Rendez-Vu, Red Alert, 3 out of 10
George was an icon, deeply missed in the world of pop music. On this album he matured quite a bit and the songs reflect that. Very good crafted pop songs with beautiful melodies and great vocals. Bonus, the Stevie Wonder's They Won't Go When I Go cover is gold! Key tracks: Praying For Time, Freedom! '90, Something To Save, Cowboys And Angels, Waiting For That Day, Heal The Pain. 7 out of 10
Huge Smiths fan and this is one of Morissey's finest solo efforts. The opener is very catchy and sets the bar high for the rest of the set. Fortunately this album barely dips in quality. Mark Ronson's involvement is also a very welcome one, the Bowie influence on the songs is very cool! Just a great record with high replay value! Key tracks: You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side, Glamorous Glue, We'll Let You Know, We Hate It When Our Friends Become Succesful, You're The One For Me, Fatty, Seasick, Yet Still Docked, 8 out of 10
One of the, if not the most recognizable smooth pop, soul, funk female voices! Sade has a beautiful warm, tender voice. She pens down great catchy hooks and has a solid band supporting her. Key tracks: Smooth Operator, Your Love Is King, Hang On To Your Love, When Am I Going To Make A Living, Cherry Pie, Why Can't We Live Together 7.5 out of 10
Holy cow, this is such a classic record!! And although I probably heard 3/4 of the album throught the years, the songs I didn't hear also really impressed me! This band is so locked in musically, insanely catchy melodies, some great riffs and licks, thumping basslines, groovy drums and ofcourse John Fogerty's raspy delivery! This band was one of the finest of those days! The length of this album is perfect too, it leaves no space for duds, yes, this album is all killer no filler. If I do have to say something that was left to be desires, it would be a better mix, some instruments get buried a bit and it could be more balanced Key tracks: ALL, but, Ramble Tamble, Travelin' Band, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through The Jungle, Up Around The Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain and Long As I Can See The Light are the best!! 9 out of 10
Amazing indie rock record! Very anthemic songwriting with great guitar leads. I'm not really that much in the vocals, but musically this is top notch! Key tracks: Is This It, The Modern Age, Soma, Barely Legal, Someday,, Last Nite, Hard To Explain, Trying Your Luck, Take It Or Leave It. 8,5 out of 10
Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am! This album is IN-CRE-DIB-LE! There's is something to be said for the hit songs of this record, but listening through it all, man, it's just something else! The influence this record had on countless of other artists and bands just amazes me. Bowie is a fantastic storyteller, and the songs are written perfectly! His band is amazing too and they gel really well together! Honestly, I find it hard to find something bad with this album, it's all just so good! Key tracks: All, but I could do with Star, although it's part of the story. 9 out of 10
Such an iconic record. A beautiful set of dreamy, poetic, melancholic folk songs Nick Drake brushes up on some very delicate topics and accompanies the words with beautiful arrangements. Key tracks: Time Has Told Me, River Man, Three Hours, Way To Blue, Day Is Done, Cello Song, Fruit Tree, Saturday Sun. 9 out of 10
This band kind of comes across like a Coldplay meets Elbow The Soundtrack Of Our Lives mash-up. They're pretty good, I'm not too keen on the vocals, but the band takes the songs in some interesting ways! These lyrics caught my attention: All the hope And all the wonder All the strength that they can muster Won't go They won't get me down Key tracks: Words, There Goes The Fear, M62 Song, Satellites, Pounding, Last Broadcast, Caught By The River 7,5 out of 10
This is an absolute gem, not only does this album feature knockout singles, most of the other songs are amazing too! Such a shame I never got around this record earlier. I could listen to Neil and Tim harmonize over these beautiful lyrics all day. And the band is so, so good! Crowded House is creeping up on my all time favorite bands list!! Lyric highlights: - And you wander the streets never reaching the heights that you seek. - I feel halfway to zero. Call me a hero, I might just agree - Then I wake up in your room. To share one piece of your life. I'd give anything to be a fly upon the wall. And hear your whispers and moans. - Oh, please let me stray. Far from familiar things. All I ask is to live each moment. - Appearing in the eyes of children. In the clear blue mountain view. The colouring in the sky. And painting ladders to heaven Key tracks: Chocolate Cake, It's Only Natural, Fall At Your Feet, Weather With You, Whispers And Moans, Four Seasons In One Day, All I Ask, She Goes On. 8,5 out of 10
I'm pretty sure I've never listened to a Afrobeat record, so let's go! Musically, this is a jam, you can tell how much every musician and performer loves this style of music! It's very soulful, funky, makes you want to dance. I can imagine, the popularity of this music in Africa, but not much outside of it, it isn't very mainstream. Although the music is quite nice, it isn't very relatable for me and I find it hard to find connections. I do appreciate the musicality of the work and the cultural impact it has on Africa. Key tracks: Wonder Wonder, Survival, Plenty Nonsense 6,5 out of 10
I think I need to absolutely spaced out of my mind to enjoy this record. But yeah, I don't think I can really appreciate it in a regular state of mind. The music is very free flowing, it has some interesting developments, but most of the times just sound like a clusterfuck. And the lyrics are really out there. The band blends a lot of different genres and some songs get interesting. Maybe this record just needs more listens though, I don't know. Key tracks: Koeeoaddi There, The Minotaur's Song, Witches Hat, A Very Cellular Song. 6,5 out of 10
This is a huge inspirational work for all Punk, Garage and Rock & Roll to come. At times it sounds like a punkier Doors album! This album features some of the gritty themes The Stooges would write about, but still lacks a bit of the power and energy, later records would have. Still it's an amazing record and one I can't recommend enough for lovers of Punk and Rock & Roll. And I love the psychedelic influence brought by John Cale. Key tracks: 1969, I Wanna Be Your Dog, We Will Fall, No Fun, Real Cool Time, Ann, Little Doll. 8,5 out of 10
One of my favorite records by the Boss. This sure is a record with some very dark subjects. The chillingly Nebraska, the jolting Johnny 99, the thumping State trooper, there's a lot of great ones here. Bruce's lyrics paint a very vivid, though somber painting. It's a beautiful record, and the fact he did it all alone is pretty cool! And the cover is perfect, really encapsulates the themes of this album. Favorite lyrics: -Now, our luck may have died, and our love may be cold. But with you, forever, I'll stay. -Well, if it was any other man, I'd put him straight away. But when it's your brother, sometimes, you look the other way. -License, registration, I ain't got none. But I got a clear conscience 'bout the things that I done. Key tracks: Nebraska, Atlantic City, Mansion On The Hill, Johnny 99, Highway Patrolman, State Trooper, My Father's House 9 out of 10
This album sure is funky!! A masterclass in funk/soul music that aged extremely well! This album is so bitchin' groovy, these songs amaze me every time! Super catchy songs, nice guitar licks, solid bass and drums foundation and a great orchestration overall, check check check check! The thing that blows my mind, how this soundtrack really tells you everything about the movie, you don't even need to watch it anymore. One of the greatest records by Curtis and one I love dearly! Favorite lyrics: - We're all built up with progress. But sometimes, I must confess. We can deal with rockets and dreams. But, reality -- what does it mean? - Must be something' that's freezin' his mind. That has made him, through greed, so very blind. And I don't think he's gonna make it this time. - Darkest of night with the moon shining bright. There's a set goin' strong; lotta things goin' on. The man of the hour has an air of great power. The dudes have envied him for so long. Key tracks: Little Child Runnin' WIld, Pusherman, Freddie's Dead (Theme From 'Superfly'), Give Me Your Love (Love Song), Eddie You Should Know Better, No Thing On Me (Cocaine Song), Superfly 9,5 out of 10
I never bothered to listen to K.D. Lang. But this record is actually pretty nice! She’s got a great voice and cool vocal melodies. Nice twang guitar style playing in parts. The instrumental breakdown in Constant Craving is very cool! Oh and the mix is perfect! All instruments mixed crystal clear and nothing muffled. Key tracks: Save Me, The Mind Of Love, Miss Chatelaine, Wash Me Clean, Constant Craving. 7,5 out of 10
Jesus fucking christ. I like me some Jazz, I like me some punk, I like me some experimental music. But the three combined?!? This should be interesting! Despite being 17 tracks and each song having an average of about 2 minutes, this thing flies by in a heartbeat. I can't follow the music for shit, even with regular jazz i face this problem. But this gives me a good laugh. It just sounds like one big flurry of let's play 100000000000 notes in a second and sound as ugly as we possibly can. Ecars sounds like an actual jazz song though, thumbs up. I appreciate the effort, but yeah, this ain't my bag. Key tracks: Word For Bird, Peace Warriors, Feet Music, no just kidding, I just like the titles. 4 out of 10
Such a nice summer vibe record! Yeah, I've only known Bongo Bong, but the rest is very laid back as well! It has some nice layers, cool sampling and nice melodies. The vocals and lyrics are not too great, but still enjoyable and fit the songs well! Key tracks: Clandestino, Desaparecido, Bongo Bong, Je ne T'aime Plus, Mentira, Minha Galera 7 out of 10
Crazy good album! Ice-T has a great lyrical flow and touches on some deep subjects. The lyrics are very badass and give some dark insights of life on the streets back in the day. The beats are pretty dope although the album drags on a bit to much at times. Key tracks: Mind Over Matter, New Jack Hustler, Bitches 2, O.G. Original Gangster, Midnight, Fried Chicken, Body Count, The Tower. 8 out of 10
This is a nice Indie pop like record it's a bit loungy and psychedelic too. The band is one of a lot of similar bands in this era. But they did score some big hits and stood out just a bit more. Lovefool in particular was an absolute smash single. Singer, Nina Persson takes the spotlight in most of the songs. Instrumentally, the band is quite interesting as well. All in all it's a quite interesting record, although a bit too bland at times. They could definitely do with a better album cover though. Key tracks: Your New Cuckoo, Step On Me, Lovefool, Great Divide 6,5 out of 10
This band is very often overlooked in the shadow of grunge towers like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and so on. But this band is equally good in its own right! They're quite the powerhouse, fusing, bluesy hard rock, psychedelic and grunge. Mark Lanegan's smoky soulful vocals roaring on every song. But Gary Lee Connor's guitar work is also very impressive! The song themes range from addiction, to unreachable love Should've given this band a spin a long time ago! - Glorified in the dying of the sun. - Her ghost hides in my eyes, in the night. In a way she's haunting me, I'm wanting her still. - Because you're this dream I'm hanging on. And I'm trying to make the dawn. Key tracks: Halo Of Ashes, All I Know, Look At You, Dying Days, Sworn And Broken, Witness. 7,5 out of 10
This record has gotten so many spins throughtout the years! And it's a huge inspirational album for punk bands. Johnny Rotten's sneering vocals, Steve Jones's raging guitar, Paul Cook's pounding rhythms, it's all packing a punch. Even though there were better punk albums, I feel like this record's kind of essential for anyone who likes pubk. Key tracks: Holidays In The Sun, Bodies, No Feelings, God Save The Queen, Problems, Anarchy In The UK, Submission, Pretty Vacant, 8 out of 10
One of the highlights of David Bowie's wildly diverse output! This record features some of his best known songs, but also a very comforting collection of songs. The lyrics get cryptic as you can expect on a Bowie record. And the music is excellent, very piano driven and melodic. Rick Wakeman's contributions are key. Favorite lyrics: -So the days float through my eyes. But still the days seem the same. - I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought. And I ain't got the power anymore. Key tracks: Changes, Oh! You Pretty Things, Life On Mars?, Kooks, Quicksand, Andy Warhol, Queen Bitch, The Bewlay Brothers. 8,5 out of 10
Never never heard of this album. But I can't quite get into it. The words and voice are quite nice though, and the sampling is pretty good too But the beats and flow is just to average and done better in other records. It's kind of like a poor man's Public Enemy, tho enjoyable at spots. I liked the inclusion of Dead Kennedys, Califoria über alles. Key tracks: Satanic Reverses, Television The Drug Of The Nation, Language Of VIolence, Music And Politics. 4,5 out of 10
This band kind of struck me as the lovechild of The Doors and The Velvet Underground, and I love it! Jonathan Richman is an amazing frontman and pens down some great lyrics! And the band is great too, the keyboards in general have a huge presence presence in the songs. Roadrunner is a standout track, but my personal favorite has got to be the beautiful Hospital and its haunting vibe! Such a unique album! Favorite lyrics: - I go to bakeries all day long. There's a lack of sweetness in my life. And there is pain inside. You can see it in my eyes. Key tracks:Roadrunner, Astral Plane, Pablo Picasso, Hospital 8 out of 10
This band made some of my favorite songs, yet I never put on this record. This album encapsulates a lot of different moods, bleakness, fragility, despair, but also beauty. The sampling of all kinds of instruments and making their own sounds is brilliant It's got a lot of eerie/haunting soundscapes and moody passages. But the vocals of Beth have this almost angelic ring to it and it balances it nicely. Favorite lyrics: - Did you realise no one can see inside your view? Did you realise for why this sight belongs to you? - 'Cause the child rose as life. Tried to reveal what I could feel. Key tracks: Mysterons, Sour Times, Strangers, It Could Be Sweet, Wandering Star, It's A Fire, Numb, Roads, 9 out of 10
This album is such a pleasant spin! And I can see how revolutionary Kraftwerk must've been back when they released albums. The futuristic sound, the cold machinelike vocals, the huge array of different electronic instruments, the lyrical themes, all very cool! There's an eerie vibe to the songs, but also a very upbeat one, some of the beats make you want to dance. Instrumentally this is very cool, the vocals don't stand out particularly, but then again, who knows if robots would be good singers? This is definitely an album I need more time with to unwrap all the musical details and layers! Key tracks: The Robots, Spacelab, The Model, Neon Lights 8,5 out of 10
Perhaps the most experimental record David Bowie ever released. I still rank this among his best, even though it only spawned one hit single, it features a lot of great songs! And the Eno influence is excellent, even having Iggy Pop around lent it's inspiration. This is Bowie as good as it gets!! Favorite lyrics: - Sometimes you get so lonely. Sometimes you get nowhere. I've lived all over the world. I've left every place. Key tracks: Speed Of Life, What In The World, Sound And Vision, Always Crashing In The Same Car, Be My Wife, A New Career In A New Town, Warszawa, Subterraneans 9 out of 10
Kick ass live album! This one really proved to non fans that The Who is a powerhouse to be reckoned with. The band sounds great thanks to a very clear mix! Great performances of classic songs! Key tracks: Heaven And Hell, Young Man Blues, A Quick One, While He’s Away, Shakin’ All Over 8,5 out of 10
A very cool psychedelic record with sounds that were way, way ahead of their time. This is not an album I like in full, but the songs I like are very cool instrumentally! Vocally, this does nothing for me, even Dorothy's vocals are a bit grating to me. A very out there record with a lot of nonsensical stuff, but I can dig it! Favorite lyrics: - All you see of yesterday is shadows in your mind. Key tracks: The American Metaphysical Circus, Cloud Song, The Garden Of Earthly Delights, Where Is Yesterday, 7 out of 10
One of the best bands in the 80s. A bit like R.E.M but with some more grit to it! This record is great and features some very catchy, powerful, anthemic songs! The themes are pretty straight forward and not too cryptic. But that's perfectly fine, and it makes the songs more enjoyable to be honest! The guitars are amazing and the rhythm section is incredibly steady! Favorite lyrics: - How do you say you're okay to an answering machine? - Try and free a slave of ignorance. Try and teach a whore about romance. Key tracks: I Will Dare, Favorite Thing, Androgynous, Unsatisfied, Seen Your Video, Sixteen Blue, Answering Machine. 8,5 out of 10
My god, this record is beautiful! So heartbreaking and soulful at the same time, amazing. A very consistent record with great instrumentation and performance of Nina. The production is great too, very well mixed. One of the most powerful records I've ever listened to! She was truly something special! Favorite lyrics: - It makes me see what I want to see. Be what I want to be. - But it's not enough just to remember, 'cause what good is the past? - With your kiss, my life begins. You're spring to me. All things to me. Key tracks: Four Women, What More Can I Say, Lilac Wine, Break Down And Let It All Out, Wild Is The Wind, Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair, If I Should Lose You. 9 out of 10
Landmark album, and this album is a big one! This record had a huge influence and really paved the way for Hip Hop to the mainstream. It had a couple hit songs that are great but half of the record is a bit lackluster. The songs have huge energy and always make me smile! Key tracks: Peter Piper, It's Tricky, My Adidas, Walk This Way, Hit It Run, Raising Hell, You Be Illin', Dumb Girl 7 out of 10
The debut record by Belle And Sebastian is a very earnest one. Some songs get autobiographical at points, mainly the beautiful "The State I Am In". It sets the bar very high for the rest of the album, or even their career. But the album features plenty of other great songs, with beautiful arrangements and lovely lyrics. Favorite lyrics: - Soon you will know that you are sane. You're on top of the world again. - When the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up. - If you had such a dream. Would you get up and do the things you believe in? Key tracks: The State I Am In, Expectations, She's Losing It, Electronic Renaissance, We Rule The School, My Wandering Days Are Over, I Don't Love Anyone 8 out of 10
This album has just so much good going for it! Very solid tracks with great instrumentation and nice hooks. And that voice is just magical, could listen to for days. While the lyrics are not the best, the songs are crafted very well and Lauryn flows nicely through the beats and melodies! Favorite lyrics: - Gained the whole world for the price of your soul. - You can get the money, you can get the power. But keep your eyes on the Final Hour. - Stuck and frustrated, I waited, debated. For something to happen that just wasn't fated. Key tracks: All, should be listened as a whole! 9 out of 10
Great alternative/garage record. Jack White is the real deal though, I don't care too much for Meg White. Cool riffs and nice hooks, hard rocking songs, but also some more tender ones. Favorite lyrics: - Soft hair and a velvet tongue. I want to give you what you give to me. - The cost no man can say. But you gotta love me. - The coldest blue ocean water. Cannot stop my heart and mind. From burning. Key tracks: Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground, Hotel Yorba, Fell In Love With A Girl, We're Going To Be Friends, I Think I Smell A Rat 8 out of 10
A long time ago I randomly bumped into an Eels song while listening playlists, I liked it, saved it and never really dug into the albums. Until now, and it's actually a pretty nice album! I dig the guitar and overall vibe of the songs, and the band is pretty solid. But I just can't seem to get into the vocals, which is a shame because the songs on itself are quite nice! The outro to Mental is amazing though! Favorite lyrics: - How do you stand when you've been crushed? - And I'll be here to see that you don't fade away. - One day the world will be ready for you. And wonder how they didn't see. Key tracks: Novocaine For The Soul, Susan's House, Beautiful Freak, My Beloved Monster, Your Lucky Day In Hell 7 out of 10
Incubus is and will probably be for a longtime, one of my favorite bands. Key tracks: Privilege, Nowhere Fast, Consequence, The Warmth, When It Comes, Stellar, Make Yourself, Drive, Clean, I Miss You, Pardon Me 8,5 out of 10
What a bop of a record! I'm not really the guy who gets up and dances, but man, do these songs jack me up!! All songs swing like there's no tomorrow, Louis Prima was a fine bandleader, had great charisma, unmatched energy and transformed these songs into something else! Favorite lyrics: - Buona sera, signorina, buona sera. It is time to say goodnight to Napoli. - When your dead and in your grave, no more ravioli will you crave. Key tracks: Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody, (Nothing's Too Good) For My Baby, Oh, Marie, Basin Street Blues / When It's Sleepy Time Down South, Jump, Jive, An' Wail, Buona Sera, Five Months, Two Weeks, Two Days, Banana Split For My Baby 7,5 out of 10
I guess, everyone, somewhere in their life must've heard these songs. Far from great songs, I'm not even sure why this album is in the book to be frank.. The hits have a nice vibe, but the rest is just, there and filling the album. I could've done without this one and wouldn't be bothered if there was another better album in place. Key tracks: Keep On Movin', Fairplay, Back To Life, Jazzie's Groove, Back To Life (However Do You Want Me) 4 of 10
Simply fantastic album! A huge melting pot of an album, combining lots of different genres and resulting in an incredible absolute gem of an album! I spent countless of times listening to this record, it's one of my absolute favourites. Strummer's gravelly vocals, Simonon's swaying bass, Headon's steady drumwork and the double guitar work is great too, nice rhythms and chord changes! Favourite lyrics: - The ice age is coming, the sun's zoomin' in. Meltdown expected, the wheat is growin' thin. Engines stop running, but I have no fear. Cause London is drownin', I, live by the river. - You don't owe nothin', boy get running! It's the best years of your life they want to steal. Key tracks: London Calling, Brand New Cadillac, Jimmy Jazz, Hateful, Rudie Can't Fail, Spanish Bombs, The Right Profile, Lost In The Supermarket, Clampdown, The Guns Of Brixton, Wrong 'Em Boyo, Koka, Kola, The Card Cheat, Lover's Rock, I'm Not Down, Revolution Rock, Train In Vain (Stand By Me) 9,5 out of 10
Another huge, huge record! So many great moments on this album The classic guitarsolo's in Highway Star and Jon Lord's amazing organ work. And what about my beloved Drum hero Ian Paice? An absolute legend! The drum intro to Pictures Of Home deserves a huge shoutout as well as the solo on Space Truckin'! Roger Clover's funky bass solo. So much goodness in this record! Favorite lyrics: - Maybe I'm a Leo but I ain't a lion. - Somebody's shouting up at a mountain. Only my own words return. - She took my name, she took my body. And she threw away my soul. Key tracks: Highway Star, Pictures Of Home, Never Before, Smoke On The Water, Lazy, Space Truckin' 8,5 out of 10
Perhaps one of the greatest albums to ever be released! Fear Of Music Is Insane, It's like a huge melt pot of Funk, Rock, World, Psychedelic and what else is on the horizon. I love Byrne's delivery and paranoia. Definitely need to dive in their other albums! Favorite lyrics: - You make me shiver, I feel so tender. We make a pretty good team. - They think they know what's best, they're making a fool of us. They ought to be more careful, they're setting a bad example. Key tracks: I Zimbra, Mind, Paper, Cities, Life During Wartime, , Memories Can't Wait, Air, Heaven, Animals, Drugs 9 out of 10
“Twenty-four years old and writes like he's two-hundred and twenty” A shame I can't find the person who said this, but this sentence sums up John Prine's self titled very fittingly! This record leaves me speechless. Wow, just wow, the lyrics are so livid, intense, real and from the heart. John Prine is an ACE songwriter, right up there besides Dylan and other great songwriters. These songs are orchestrated beautifully and the stories channeled through the lyrics accompany the songs very well! Very powerful record! This is an album I doubt I'll ever forget. Favorite lyrics: - Ah, but fortunately I have the key to escape reality. - Chased a rainbow down a one-way street, dead end. And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen. - For I knew that topless lady. Had something up her sleeve. - There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes. Jesus Christ died for nothin',I suppose. Little pitchers have big ears, don't stop to count the years. Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios. - Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken. Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man. - Moonlight makes me dizzy. Sunlight makes me clean. Your light is the sweetest thing. That this boy has ever seen. - Ain't it funny how an old broken bottle. Looks just like a diamond ring? - If dreams were lightning, and thunder were desire. This old house would have burnt down a long time ago. - But that was a long time and no matter how I try. The years just flow by like a broken-down dam. - Just give me one thing that I can hold on to. To believe in this living is just a hard way to go. - Oodles of light, what a beautiful sight. Both of God's eyes are shining tonight. Rays and beams of incredible dreams. And I am a quiet man. Key tracks: Illegal Smile, Spanish Pipedream, Hello In There, Sam Stone, Paradise, Pretty Good, Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore, Angel From Montgomery, Six O'Clock News 9,5 out of 10
I can't stand this band, at all. The vocalist is whiny, the musical movement is to trippy and out there for my tastes. But, I was very impressed by the bassist powerhouse Lemmy Kilmister. I doubt I'll give this album or Hawkwind more proper listening time, I just can't gel with the genre. 3 out of 10
Harvest, Neil Young's most succesful selling record! This album is very iconically Neil Young, some of his biggest songs are on this album. The tracks featuring the orchestra are maybe somewhat out of place here, but still, this record is a damn classic! Favorite lyrics: - As the days fly past, will we lose our grasp? Or fuse it in the sun? - I've been a miner for a heart of gold - Your Cadillac has got a wheel in the ditch. And a wheel on the track. - I've seen the needle and the damage done. A little part of it in everyone. But every junkie's like a settin' sun. Key tracks: Out On The Weekend, Harvest, Heart Of Gold, Are You Ready For The Country, Old Man, Alabama, The Needle And The Damage Done, Words (Between The Lines Of Age) 9 out of 10
Very dope Hip Hop record, amazing sampling work and lyrical flow between the guys. Key tracks: The Magic Number, Change In Speak, Jenifa Taught Me (Derwin's Revenge), Ghetto Thang, Eye Know, Tread Water, Potholes In My Lawn, Say No Go, Do As De La Does, Plug Tunin', Buddy, Me Myself And I, This Is A Recording For Living In A Fulltime Era (L.I.F.E.), D.A.I.S.Y. There's no denying the absolute talent that was Amy Winehouse. With a very good debut record, she had a lot of things going for her. Unfortunately the world didn't get to see Amy Winehouse that much longer as she passed away. This album is an incredible display of her abilities as a vocalist. While the lyrics are too obvious and could've used some more depth, the songs still are quite enjoyable. Favorite lyrics: - Wish I could say it breaks my heart. Like you did in the beginning. It's not that we grew apart. A nightingale no longer singin'. - Emulate all the shit my mother hates. I can't help but demonstrate my Freudian fate. Key tracks: Intro / Stronger Than Me, You Sent Me Flying / Cherry, Fuck Me Pumps, I Heard Love Is Blind, (There Is) No Greater Love, In My Bed, What Is It About Men 7 out of 10
Amazing classic rock album and arguably, Stewart's masterpiece! Rod knew who he had to jam with, there's an amazing cast of musicians on this record! It helps that the songs are so powerful, because the lyrics don't really standout. The performance of the band is what makes this record so so good! Favorite lyrics: - I fell in love with a slit-eyed lady. By the light of an eastern moon. - There's beauty in the silver singin' river. There's beauty in the sunlight in the sky. But none of these, and nothing else. Can steal the beauty. That I remember in my true love's eyes. - When the rain came I thought you'd leave. 'Cause I knew how much you loved the sun. But you chose to stay, stay and keep me warm. Through the darkest nights I've ever known. - Someone like you. Makes it hard to live without somebody else. Key tracks: Every Picture Tells A Story, Maggie May, Mandolin Wind, (I Know) I'm Losing You, (Find A) Reason To Believe 8 out of 10
This album feels like huge waves of guitar slowly engulfing me. There's a certain beauty in this genre, and while I'm starting to get into it and appreciate it more, I'm still not blown away by it. I imagine this album being huge for fans alike back when it came out. So, all in all, not great, not terrible, but it's a nice record to listen and further dive into shoegaze, the sounds and atmosphere are truly something else though. Key tracks: She Found Now, Only Tomorrow, New You 5 out of 10
Bland, too gleeful, sucky vocals. 2 out of 10
One of my favorite discoveries upon starting this journey! And I shake my head for not giving The Cars a chance earlier.. This is a very solid debut album. Perhaps one of the most iconic front covers, featuring the beautiful Nataliya Medvedeva. The songs have a great vibe and are super catchy. I love the vocal work on the songs, the tradeoffs between vocalists is great. But the stand out part for me is the keyboards and synth work, just incredible! All held together by the solid backing of Benjamin Orr and David Robinson. Favorite lyrics: - I can't feel this way much longer expecting to survive. With all these hidden innuendos just waiting to arrive. It's such a wavy midnight and you slip into insane. Electric angel rock and roller, I hear what you're playin'. - Substitution, mass confusion, clouds inside your head. Involving all my energies until you visited. With your eyes of porcelain and of blue. They shock me into sense. You think you're so illustrious, you call yourself intense. - Life's the same, I'm moving in stereo. Life's the same except for my shoes. Life's the same, you're shaking like tremolo. Life's the same, it's all inside you. Key tracks: Good Times Roll, My Best Friend's Girl, Just What I Needed, You're All I've Got Tonight, Bye Bye Love, Moving In Stereo. 8,5 out of 10
The last recorded album by Leonard Cohen before his death. It seems he knew the end was coming for him as he kind of hints and writes about the end of life. It's quite haunting at times, but some songs also have some very pretty passages as well. It's incredible that Cohen was still able to release a work such at this given his ailing health. He has left us with a huge body of work, beautiful songs that will forever stick with us. The mix is allright, but the instrumentation sometimes feels a bit tacked on. An essential farewell album and an astonishing end to a career. Favorite lyrics: -There's a lullaby for suffering. And a paradox to blame. - I'm so sorry for that ghost I made you be. Only one of us was real and that was me. - They oughta give my heart a medal For letting go of you - Steer your way through the pain that is far more real than you. That smashed the cosmic model, that blinded every view. Key tracks: You Want It Darker, Treaty, On The Level, Leaving The Table, It Seemed The Better Way, Steer Your Way. 8 out of 10
Very cool landmark 80s record! Melodic songwriting at its finest, some very good hooks. Just a brilliant pop record with beautiful sounds. My only gripe is the somewhat muddy mix. Favorite lyrics: - Brilliant days, wake up on Brilliant days. Shadows of brilliant ways will change all the time. Memories, burning gold memories. Cold of day memories change me in these times. - Where did you go? Immaculate friend. For a lifetime I'm grateful. And it's only seconds away. - Like a glittering prize, I saw you up on a clear day. First taking heart, then a last breath away. - The side effects of cruising at the speed of life. - Kyoto in the snow. Heaven's far away. Key tracks: Someone Somewhere (In Summertime), Promised You A Miracle, Big Sleep, Somebody Up There Likes You, New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84), Glittering Prize, Hunter And The Hunted. 8 out of 10
Drugs are bad hmmkay? I don't know what's more incredible, the talent of band members or the fact that Bowie can't recall making this record due to his drug usage. That said, this record offers some truly great songs! Not really the best record, lyricwise, but musically a very strong record! Bowie is amazing, but he truly has a knack of putting the right people in his band! Favorite lyrics: - In walked luck and you looked in time. Never look back, walk tall, act fine. - In this age of grand delusion. You walked into my life out of my dreams. - Maybe I'll take something to help me. Hope someone takes after me. - With your kiss my life begins. Favorite tracks: Station To Station, Golden Years, TVC15, Stay, Wild Is The Wind. 9 out of 10
Pretty cool record with some great songs, albeit they kind of lost their signature sound and went in another direction. Still the murky nature of the songs works out quite well. It was a great response to Gaye's What's Going On! Favorite lyrics: - My only weapon is my pen. And the frame of mind I'm in. - And another child grows up to be Somebody you'd just love to burn - You can't cry 'cause you'll look broke down. But you're cryin' anyway 'cause you're all broke down. Favorite tracks: Luv N' Haight, Just Like A Baby, Family Affair, Runnin' Away. 7,5 out of 10
Sucksssss 2 of 10
Very cool Jazz, Pop album. The great musicianship is undeniable, and the record doesn't overstay it's welcome. Just a very good album with great musicians! Favorite lyrics: - There where neon bends in daylight sky. - I'd give the world just to set her heart aflame. - I wish I had a heart of ice. Favorite tracks: I.G.Y., Ruby Baby, New Frontier, The Nightfly, Walk Between Raindrops. 8 out of 10
Very cool mashing album of varying genres. Blues, folk, country, rock and roll, even some latin! While there's some really great songs on this album, I think it could've benefitted from some trimming. Some songs are just too run off the mill and don't stand out that much. Favorite lyrics: - But I'm all right you know I pay my dues - Is that really how you see me? Just a statue making sound. - Sing to the noble eagle. Help is on the way. - Come a woman who wants to be near. Me and my mountains, we'll be right here. - In the treasure of the oneness. That like sand becomes a diamond. Key tracks: - Song Of Love - Rock And Roll Crazies / Cuban Bluegrass - Jet Set (Sigh) - Anyway - Both Of Us (Bound To Lose - Colorado - So Begins The Task - It Doesn't Matter - Johnny's Garden - Bound To Fall - How Far 7,5 out of 10
I like the hits. But further this just didn’t grab me that much. 6 out of 10
Don’t like 2 out of 10
One of the most beautiful, heartfelt folk-pop records ever made. A powerful swansong album. The first half is marginally better, but overall a very solid album! Favorite lyrics: - Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way. - Away, I'd rather sail away. Like a swan that's here and gone. A man gets tied up to the ground. He gives the world. Its saddest sound. - And I’m one step ahead of the shoeshine Two steps away from the county line Just trying to keep my customers satisfied - Goin' home. Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me. Favorite Tracks: - Bridge Over Troubled Water - El Condor Pasa (If I Could) - Keep The Customer Satisfied - The Boxer - Baby Driver - The Only Living Boy In New York 8 out of 10
Tight, tight album
Amazing blues album
Classic, original compositions, great band!
Some very beautiful songs, but most, at least for me, drag on a bit too much. Still a fairly good debut record that set up a nice stage for a long run of semi great records in the years to come! Favorite lyrics: - I awake to find no peace of mind. Favorite songs: - Don't Panic - Shiver - Spies - Sparks - Yellow - Trouble - High Speed 7 out of 10
Staple Country-Folk-Rock record. One of the best Grateful Dead albums. Very cohesive songs and a nice flow. Classic from the first spin I gave it! Favorite lyrics: - A box of rain will ease the pain. And love will see you through. - Such a long long time to be gone. And a short time to be there. - She comes skimmin' through rays of violet. She can wade in a drop of dew. - Let it be known there is a fountain. That was not made by the hands of men. - All the birds that were singing. Have flown except you alone. Favorite tracks: - Box Of Rain - Friend Of The Devil - Sugar Magnolia - Ripple - Truckin' - Brokedown Palace 8,5 out of 10
Nice jam for the background. 6 out of 10
Musically pretty cool album, but I feel like it gets held back bybthe performance of Skin, at least for me. Sure she can sing, but I don’t really feel the emotion, especially on the heavier moments it all sounds too forced. 4 out of 10
Nice album even though regarded as a failed one. Simon features an all star cast of musicians here and they gel great within the songs! 8,5 out of 10
Great record with nice catchy songs, great riffs! 8 out of 10
I hate industrial metal
Very fun album, clicked with me almost instantly. While not as captivating as their debut record, still a very enjoyable record. Favorite lyrics: - I walk along this same old lonely street. Still trying to find, find a reason. - She tried to keep her looks but lost her mind when she lost her youth and grace. Key tracks: - Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think) - Man At C&A - Hey Little Rich Girl - Do Nothing - Stereotype / Stereotype, Pt. 2 - International Jet Set 7 out of 10
Beautiful heartfelt country record that overstays it's welcome just a bit too much. Side A is in my opinion the stronger side, while side B drags on a bit. Still very enjoyable and a great listen! Favorite lyrics: - The telephone poles, trees, and wires fly on by. - Some kind of savior singin' the blues. A derelict in your duct tape shoes. - Did an angel whisper in your ear? And hold you close, and take away your fear? In those long, last moments. - I got a big chain around my neck. And I'm broken down like a train wreck. Favorite tracks: - Right In Time - Car Wheels On A Gravel Road - 2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten - Drunken Angel - Lake Charles - Can't Let Go 7,5 out of 10
Very impressive to think this is a one man project! Pretty cool songs, most of which I've been jamming for a long while now. Dave Grohl laid a great solid foundation for the years to come for this band. Great album! Favorite lyrics: - I'll stick around and learn from all that came from it. - Couldn't find a way to you. Seems that's all I ever do. - Where have all the wishes gone? Now that all of that is done. Wish I would've felt I'd won for once. Favorite tracks: - This Is A Call - I'll Stick Around - Big Me - Alone + Easy Target - Good Grief - Floaty - For All The Cows 8 out of 10
Nice jams 7 out of 10
Nice beats and flows 7 out of 10
Passable album, that was semi enjoyable at most. She has a good band in the back though, and the inclusion of Kevin Gilbert is an interesting discovery! 6 out of 10
Absolute breathtaking album! This record definitely cemented their status in the scene and brought them great succes for years to come. The addition of Wakeman is a great one, and the songs breathe a whole new level of life! Bruford is amazing too and the melodic interplay between Howe and Squire is phenomenal! Anderson is in a class of itself, although the lyrics often make no sense at all, but that's part of the charm! Favorite lyrics: - We stand to lose all time, a thousand answers by in our hand. Next to your deeper fears, we stand surrounded by a million years. - I still remember the dream there. I still remember the time you said goodbye. - Love comes to you and you follow. Lose one, on to the heart of the sunrise. Favorite tracks: - Roundabout. - South Side Of The Sky. - Long Distance Runaround. - Mood For A Day. - Heart Of The Sunrise. 8,5 out of 10
The birth of grime, although it never really got quite as good as on this record. Musically amazing, lyrically very introspective and sketches the dark times of the UK vividly. I have to say, the name always kind of looked uninteresting, but I'm glad this is in the 1001 albums and I finally gave it the proper spin it deserves! Favorite lyrics: - It was only yesterday, none of us could ever come to harm. It was only yesterday, life was a touch more sweet. - I call the shots like topcat. - Life ain't always nice, that's how shit goes - Looks like I'm losing sight 'cause I'm looking at the future, it ain't bright. - Looks like I'm losing hope, 'cause I climb this mountain without rope. - When the hammer hits, your head splits like banana - Don't know why you feel the need to talk to birds. But talk is dangerous, be careful with your words. - So don't keep talking like you're bright, I'll definitely get dark. - Sometimes I wake up wishing I could sleep for years. I've been through anger, pain, blood, sweat and tears. - Strong you gotta be it, if you wanna get through it. Stretch your mind to the limit, you could do it. Favorite tracks: - Sittin' Here - Stop Dat - I Luv U - Brand New Day - 2 Far - Fix Up, Look Sharp - Cut 'Em Off - Jus' A Rascal - Jezebel 8 out of 10
Pretty nice while jamming in the background. But far from an essential record to listen to me. 5 out of 10
This album kinda surprised me! I’ve always liked their singles, but didn’t appeal that much to listen their records. Boy, was I wrong. Their mix of funk, rock, metal, pop & hiphop is very cool. It works on a lot of levels. My only gripe is the drummer who is sort of forcing his style with his fills a bit too much But still, really cool stuff. 7,5 out of 10
Very cool album, with some beautiful compositions. Perhaps one of the best performances of lou reed on record! 7,5 out of 10
Found this quite boring to be honest. Run of the mill Progressive Rocj mixed with some Folk, nothing too remarkable. Musically pretty good, but vocally a bit jarring. 4 out of 10
Classic record that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, the length is just perfect! Stevie is an amazing musician, and can write incredibly beautiful songs. But the funkiness is something else here, great stuff! 9 out of 10
Pretty nice laid back music, nothing too ground breaking, but good for what it is! I liked Erleyd Øye's contributions, has a remarkable voice. The soundscapes are pretty, warm, lush and funky. Favorite lyrics: - No matter gain nor grain. It's those tiny little sparks. In daily life that makes me. Forget my sulky heart. - Brave men tell the truth. The wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles. A woman holds her tongue. Knowing silence will speak for her. Favorite tracks: - So Easy - Eple - Sparks - In Space - Poor Leno - Remind Me 7,5 out of 10
Pretty cool album that’s well built, progresses nicely although it could’ve been trimmed a bit. Questlove is a master in his compositions! 8 out of 10
Smooth atmospheric music that drifts along nicely. Nothing groundbreaking here but just well crafted songs. Thorn has a nice soothing voice that accommodates music like this very good! 7 out of 10
Very cool "live" album, it really succeeds in showing the strengths of Thin Lizzy. Too bad it's been doctored this much, I would've enjoyed it a bit more if it felt a bit more organic. Still very representative of Thin Lizzy at it's finest 8 out of 10
Not much that I enjoyed 3 out of 10
Pretty cool record with nice songs! Especially love the rhythm section in this band, cool bass lines and nice proposing drums. And the cover is very cool! 7 out of 10
Interesting record by Brian Eno. You can hear a lot of the influence he’d eventually have on bowie’s Berlin trilogy. Some amazing sounds, and nice compositions. 8 out of 10
Classic album, Jay-Z cemented his legacy on this one and made some great songs! 9 out of 10
To follow up Rumours was already a daunting task with a lot of pressure to release a strong record. They didn't want a Rumours 2, so they tried and went the other way a bit. The result holds some very strong songs, though also some unmemorable ones, mostly the Buckingham, cocaine induced ones. Still the record was enjoyable, albeit a bit long. 7 out of 10
Arguably my favorite discovery upon starting this incredible journey of music!!! This record is such a beautiful gem, an outstanding collection of beautiful ballads. Opener The Girl From Ipanema opens on a very high note, and rarely does the quality ever drop. I feel this will become a record I will really grow to cherish over time Favorite lyrics: - But I watch her so sadly. How can I tell her I love her. Yes, I would give my heart gladly. But each day, when she walks to the sea. She looks straight ahead, not at me. - If I only had words, I would say all the beautiful. Things that I see when you're with me. - This is where I want to be. Here with you so close to me. Until the final flicker of life's ember. I, who was lost and lonely. Believing life was only. A bitter tragic joke, have found with you. The meaning of existence, my love. - I will wait for you. Till the sun falls from out of the sky. For what else can I do? I will wait for you. Meditating how sweet life will be. When you come back to me. Favorite tracks: - The Girl From Ipanema - Change Partners - Quiet Night Of Quiet Stars (Corcovado) - How Insensitive - Baubles, Bangles And Beads 9 out of 10
I’m still very new nee to jazz Discovering this genre is very wild and I appreciate most outings, but never felt like I truly “get it”. But this album is something else. It is creative, it is elegant, it can be fierce. But never without losing its momentum. These are very strong compositions on a very cohesive record. And I love the length, it flies by and makes me want to put it on again. 8 out of 10

Cool live album, that inspired tons and tons of following artists throughout the years. Muddy Waters was the bees knees, and this album shows it! 9 out of 10
I always kinda neglected this one for it’s cover and I think I might’ve heard 1 or 2 songs and nothing more. That was stupid, this record is nothing short of amazing. It opens strong and just doesn’t let go. Very powerful! 8,5 out of 10
Beautiful crafted songs 7,5 out of 10
A record that doesn’t excite me, it’s a bit too bland for my taste and the vocals didn’t really grab me. 2,5 out of 10
Very cool Avant-Garde like rock album! The vocals are great, instrumentation even better. Never quite gave Buckley the attention I Should have, very good album! 8 out of 10
Great swansong by one of the best wordsmiths that ever graced the earth. Elliott Smith's last album while alive is a very good one. Beautiful and very interesting songs. 8,5 out of 10
Beautiful album that flies by. The instrumentation is a solid foundation for Sinatra to write upon. 8,5 out of 10
This one is out there! While I did like about half, there were also a lot of moments that had me shaking my head. I was however very pleased to discover the Nick Cave feature! 5,5 out of 10
Sweet album that shows some of the very first steps hip hop was about to undertake and grow to. There’s a great flow throughout the songs, some songs had me smiling, others gave me the stank face. Just great stuff! 8,5 out of 10
I’m not the biggest Abba fan besides enjoying their singles somewhat. So this one was gonna be interesting. But I kinda knew what I was gonna hear. You can’t deny their skills at writing and composing, the songs have a nice feel. But the mostly jolly vibe throughout their mmm mis album is hard for me to connect to. That said, I can see why they grew so big and have such a huge following. 6 out of 10
I never was too big on industrial music. I just can’t get into Nine Inch Nails. But this, this was something else. I really dug this and plan on listening more of them. Great discovery! 8,5 out of 10
Love me some stones, classic 8 out of 10
I always thought of Willie Nelson as your typical stoner, not really worth looking into. But I’m glad this record popped in! It’s a very laid back album with some jazzy influence at points. He has a very silky smooth voice and lt fits the songs well. I might look into his discography more! 7,5 out of 10
Enjoyable and sure, he’s iconic. But there’s rap and hip hop I like more. 7 out of 10
Musically quite enjoyable, not too memorable. I don't really care for the french. 3 out of 10
Elbow is a bit hit or miss with me. I enjoy somewhat of their songs. But never really put on the records. This record does feel like a somewhat more expansive take on their sound. I like it, but I’m not won over yet to check out more. 7,5 out of 10
Classic album. Dope beats, great verses, even a few dips in rock and metal! I love their music, but this record felt a bit too long. 8,5 out of 10
Someone I’d never heard of before. But taking a glimpse at the cover, I notice a lot of artists I dig, so safe to say, I was intrigued! And the record turns out to be pretty cool, there’s a dark comedic nature within songs that I liked. But also some very frail moments with great orchestral scoring. Pretty good! 7,5 out of 10
I love Bruce, but this record didn’t grab me. It has some very beautiful songs. But it misses the grit and the punch. It’s too lighthearted for my taste. I’m glad it gave him somewhat of a resurgence though! 7 out of 10
Surprisingly good! 8 out of 10
Such a cool funky album. I love this one, even upon first listen years ago! The songs feel like jams but work very well! 8,5 out of 10
One of my all time favourites. Perhaps the band that had the most impact on discovering other bands. Led Zeppelin was as classic as classic gets. These guys could flesh out great rock anthems but also mellow it down. Jimmy Page is legendary, but Plant is also such a great Frontman. And it goes without saying how amazing Bonham was. Just put on Moby Dick. Top tier stuff. 9 out of 10
Nice songs but Jefferson Airplane was never much of a favourite of mine, too bad this full record didn’t really change much. Instrumentally is where I like it, but vocally and lyrically less. 7 out of 10
One of my favourite 70s records! Supertramp was so so good, can’t honestly say a bad thing about them. It’s got two great singles. But truthfully, those as far from the best, as this is a very strong album and doesn’t fall flat! 9,5 out of 10
This one I’m still struggling with. At first I barely liked anything at all. But it’s slowly opening up layer by layer. And there’s a lot of greatness on this album! The sampling, the flow, the melodies. Very solid! 7,5 out of 10
Cool summer jam. But not an album I needed to hear. 6 out of 10
Hard knocking classic! I guess if you heard one AC/DC album, you heard 'em all. But if I had to pick one ultimate, it. would have to be this one! The musicality is at its finest, but lyrically its pretty grim, having lost their main singer. But still, this is a great album, and I love to put in on every now and then! 8 out of 10
Great live album by the legendary B.B. King! The musicianship is amazing and buttery smooth renditions of his songs. Love this one! 8 out of 10
Quite interesting album with cool musical compositions! Tori Amos has an interesting voice, but she’s a bit too much out there for my tastes. 6,5 out of 10
Such a sweet cozy summery type album! I love putting on the Byrds but rarely put on their full albums, and it has been such a shame to admit! Very well crafted songs, great harmonies and just very pleasant earworms of songs! 8,5 out of 10
Very fun album that made me dig this band a bit more! Very groovy. 7 out of 10
Neil young is one of my staple favourite singer-songwriters! And on the beach always hits home, there’s just so much beauty on this record. The guitar melodies, the vocals, harmonica. At first this record may seem somewhat simplistic, but multiple listenings will reveal it’s true beauty! 9 out of 10
The band that made me pick up the drums! System Of A Down is ferocious, creative, hard hitting and just a tad psychedelic at times. They were one of the best leading alternative metal bands in the 90’s and 00’s And this record really piqued my interest in music. Vocalist Serj is obviously, crazy talented, but Daron and John are equally contributing to the core sound, while Shavo eases through the creaks. Legendary band! 9,5 out of 10
Masterpiece hip hop album with a lot of great sampling, hooks for days and a great mix! And that sweet Lauryn Hill voice! 8 out of 10
Beautiful folk album! Really enjoyed this one and excited to discover more from her. 8 out of 10
Garage rock isn’t a genre I’m too keen on. I love rock, I love punk, I just don’t like it too noisy or too DIY. Going into this one, I did think the band itself was quite interesting. Musically wise it’s pretty great, it’s just the vocals I’m not into at all. And the record went on a bit too long 6 out of 10
Another record that I loved in my youth but kind of slept on these last years. Revisiting this one is great though. The white stripes can write riffs for days. Their music isn’t too complex but they keep it interesting. Jack White is one of the best in the business. 9 out of 10
Nice soulful, jazzy, r&b type album that flows well. While I do like the general sound, it all feels a bit too samey towards the end of the record. 7 out of 10
Beautiful record with lots of pretty sounds and moods. A very nice vocal with introspective lyrics. But it’s somewhat of a moody record I need to have a specific feel to put on. 7,5 out of 10
Nice laid back jazz live record. But didn’t impress me all that much. 6 out of 10
Beautiful soulful, country record. James Taylor has a great voice and surrounds himself by very complimenting musicians! This is one of my timeless favourites and a record I will cherish! 8,5 out of 10
One of my all time favourites. This record has such high highs for me, it’s almost like a standard for other country rock albums to get compared to. A lot of incredible songs and beautiful vocals. The songs are really well crafted and feel very timeless. 9,5 out of 10
Very cool record, with grooves for days. Lot a lot of obvious singles, but a great album nonetheless. 8 out of 10
This one didn’t sit well with me. Again it may have to do with my growing up and appreciation of other genres more. I just can’t seem to connect with this type of music, same goes for world music, I just can’t vibe to it. 3 out of 10
I liked this one! It’s got nice psychedelic pop, rock songs. The songs almost have a kind of jolliness to them. Definitely worth revisiting! 8 out of 10
Masterpiece! The Beatles don’t really have a dud in their short but amazing career to me. I’ve grown up with this band and love the songs to death. 9,5 out of 10
Amazing live album, Deep Purple at its peak! This album brought a greater appreciation for the band to me. Their songs really come alive on stage, and this album really showcases it! 9,5 out of 10
While I like this band sonically and at their "rockier" moments. I find them incredibly dull when they try to soften up. And this record definitely went on too long. I think, but I'm not convinced this band might benefit when you go see them live. Maybe I will one day! 7 out of 10
Quite nice alt country record. There’s some beautiful song craft here, while lyrically pretty grim. 7 out of 10
Pretty songs that go along great with their times! Not too flashy, just the right things needed at the moment! 7,5 out of 10
Whilst this is far from my favourite music. The more I progressed in the trance, the more I got pulled into it. I started to appreciate if more and more along the way. It’s a nice album especially when it gets melodic! 8 out of 10
Okay, this might be one of my favourites thus far! I listened some Traffic and Steve Winwood already. But this record, blew me away! Incredible performance of the whole band. They sound almost like Roxy Music at times, albeit a bit more prog maybe! Amazing band! 9 out of 10
Great upbeat angsty pop record. The record features some great guest musicians. My favourite moment is probably uncertain smile, just a fantastic outro! 7 out of 10
Landmark rock album! One of the last truly great rock albums. This one had such a huge influence on music and a record I love to put on frequently! 9 out of 10
Beautiful country-R&B blend of songs. Country songs revamped to fit more to the style of Charles. It’s done pretty good, beautifully arranged, although the more upbeat songs are less good. 7 out of 10
I like this band to a certain degree. Yes, they had a big influence on the genre for a solid 1-2 years? But next to every great song is a clunker. But this one is probably my favourite album all together of them. Take A Look Around, Boiler, My Way, Rollin', Livin' It Up are classic though 7,5 out of 10
I love The Beatles and their exceptional output. And this is another great one. Just catchy, beautiful, fun songs! 8,5 out of 10
One of my all time favourites! I always get hyped up when a song by Van Halen gets on. This band had so many talent, especially in this line-up. And the addition of synths to some songs is a great one but they did not take away from their core sound! Amazing work by an amazing band! 9,5 out of 10
Glorious Californian sunshine folk rock debut! Beautiful crafted songs with loads of great vocal harmonies. Half original, half covers with some of them being real knockouts. 8,5 out of 10
Beautiful debut by te late and great Leonard Cothen. The lyrics are striking and musical playing not overstated and supporting the story like telling vocals. I do need to be in the mood for this since it’s so somber and morose. But I do find it worth listening from time to time! 8 out of 10
Cool punk record. Great hooks that have singing along in no time. Nothing all too special, fun songs and this was some of their most classic material! 7,5 out of 10
Drum and Bass and Jungle are very much uncharted genres for me. But this record really impressed me! The big opening track with beautiful vocal accompaniment and orchestral sweeps. Even the songs that are more hard hitting. This is going to be one of the records throughout this journey I enjoyed most to discover! 9 out of 10
This is such an important album that shaped the genre and is so influential till this day! Black Sabbath has some really solid songs on this album and prove they have a gift to show the world. Iomni’s great riffs, Butler’s solid bass lines, Ward keeping down the fort on the drums and Osbourne wailing away. The sinister edge in the lyrics and music made this band very interesting and what makes them special! 8,5 out of 10
This. Is. A. Stonecold. Classic. This album has a grip on me almost like no other. It is so influential in the funk, soul and r&b department. But I feel the first half is the stronger one, with almost all perfect songs. The second one feels a bit more lacklustre, but still, even solid Stevie is better than anything else out there! 9 out of 10
Great, great album by The Kinks. At this point they were pretty solidified as a group and worked out a nice unique sound for them. And this album features the best The Kinks is about through a prism and then what. You have your goofy songs, sing alongs, great singles. I’m starting to grow fond of this band! 8,5 out of 10
It’s a pretty cool debut, but they had much more to show for in the years to come. Still enjoyable and features a few staple live tracks. 7 out of 10
It is somewhat enjoyable but too long and unmemorable for me. I dig the jackass song though! 6,5 out of 10
Nice mix of pop with Brazilian influence. This record makes me a bit more open to worldly records. I enjoyed a good chunk of it. 6,5 out of 10
Definitely a Radiohead album I like less. Still, it has some great highs. Everything In Its Right Place, How To Disappear Completely and Optimistic I really love. 8 out of 10
For some reason seeing this cover always made me think this was some kind of bad Alt Country record. Boy, I couldn’t be more wrong. This, is a very welcome surprise and the record pretty much hooked me. It’s in the vein of Oasis, very strong Britpop with great instrumentation and songwriting. I’ve got a feeling this record is gonna creep up very fast and become one of my favourites! 8,5 out of 10
Funny how your music style changes huh? This band, I despised a couple of years ago. I hated their jazzy sounds and vocal style. But after several tries, things slowly started to connect, and now, I love them. And this might be my favourite of them! 9 out of 10
I can’t believe how many artists I only listen to their hit singles. Prince is no exception. I’ve heard songs like Sign ‘O’ The Times, Raspberry Beret and Purple Rain sure. But other than that, just not so much, and that’s a shame. Because he was such an inspiring artist. He wrote great songs and this record features a lot of good moments! Smooth funk with some electronic vibes to more bluesy, jazzy tracks. A very nice record. 8 out of 10
I never heard of these guys, and the cover sets up a false image for what you can expect soundwise. I put on the album and was pleasantly surprised! Nice shorter punk songs in the Ramones vein. Songs you can easily sing a long and stick their hooks in you. I dig it! 8 out of 10
This band caught me off guard not only with their name, but also with the music. Really haunting, depressing, scary at times. Can’t say I really dig it, it’s too much out there, and ahh maybe too much drug fuelled? Anyway, some might really love it. 2 out of 10
This is an album with two faces for sure. There is the Jangly pop with upbeat rhythms, hooks that make you wanna dance. And then there’s the more soft, somber side, beautiful songs with Morrissey wailing away. Great album! 8,5 out of 10
This one is a bit decent. I like the band and most of the songs are good, not great. I just don’t like Rod Stewart. I tried with the Faces, a few of his solo albums. Something in his voice just doesn’t work for me. 5,5 out of 10
This was a pleasant surprise! Eno creates very interesting records. And this one has a great atmosphere. Electronic synths engulf and mesmerise you on each track. Singing and songwriting is not his strong suit, but musically he creates some very cool works! 7,5 out of 10
I’m a huge Arctic Monkeys fan, and also fell in love with this side project. It’s great, lush, at times, tensed and beautiful compositions. It makes me think of songwriters of days from the past. Scott Walker seems to be a huge influence here. All in all a great sidestep by Alex Turner and Miles Kane. I keep hoping for a 3rd effort. 8,5 out of 10
What a great record! I loved this on the first spin. It’s such a good vibe for the darkening summer nights, drinking a great wine. I only wish for a bit more variety in the compositions. 8 out of 10
Probably the first Krautrock album I hear in full. Can’t say I’m appreciating it yet. I love prog, I love rock. But this is just a bit too much out there. 4 out of 10
It’s a a fun shit and giggles album. Quite impressive the drummer found a way to carry on after the events of his arm tearing off. But all in all, too long and too unmemorable for me. 6,5 out of 10
The late and great Tom Petty. This one is where it all started, and from here this guy skyrocketed. Although it's the lowest one to chart, it still shows what Tom Petty had in store. Great catchy songs with hooks for days. And the playing is just great, even on this debut record, you feel the band is quite gelled. This is a great starting point to dive into his career, but he had a lot of good still to come, rest in peace Tom Petty, you're music was a gift to this world and will be cherished for years to come! 8,5 out of 10
I never liked this band, the singles that I’ve heard, and listening fhe full albums doesn’t make it better. I can see the appeal, it’s just not for me. 3 out of 10
Great band that surprised me a couple years ago with another release. But hearing this album was something else. Most songs have the kind of alt / pop / punk vibe. It’s a bit reminiscent of Weezer, but I think Ash has some more grit in their sound. Cool stuff with hooky melodies! 8 out of 10
Very good album by a band that grew immensely on me over the last few years! These guys wrote some of the best pop influenced jazz out there. The features of drummer Steve Gadd are a very fine addition to me. It’s a nice groovy record I can always put on! 8,5 out of 10
Not my thing at all. And it’s dragging on and on. Very underwhelming stuff. 2 out of 10
My birthyear was pretty great! I’m bummed out I didn’t get to see these guys in their prime, but I’ve spun their albums countless times. Rage Against The Machine is just so good. The way they blend Rock, Metal and Hip Hop is great. One hell of a record! 9 out of 10
Seems like a watered down Massive Attack album. It’s Allright, some nice melodies and song building. But nothing too special. 6,5 out of 10
One of my favourite Rush records. 2112 by itself is worth the admission. But the rest is also quite good! The band is in their prime here and writing amazing stuff1 8,5 out of 10
Interesting record by Leonard Cohen, with some electronic sounds brought in. But at the heart still trademark Cohen. Not his greatest work, but still some strong songs I liked! 7 out of 10
This unfortunately was a bit of a miss. Joni Mitchell is iconic, I love Blue and Court And Spark. But this one stays too much in the same style. It feels musically a big uninteresting, doesn’t really go anywhere. But it’s mostly a lyrical story I think. Her voice is good though. 6 out of 10
I wasn't all that impressed by Taylor Swift whenever I'd hear one of her songs on the radio. She seemed like just another generic pop singer. But, to be honest, after hearing a full album, I do have to recognise her ability to write catchy songs, and she can definitely sing. Musically it's a bit middle of the road though, not bad, not great. 6,5 out of 10
I had a lot of trouble and turnoffs with this guy. Most of all the vocal performance, sounding like someone who just ate about an ashtray worth off cigarettes. But also the general sound they go for in the songs. It’s too I don’t know, dark, grim, jazzy, I didn’t connect with the sound unfortunately. 3 out of 10
Somewhat nice album, but too many moments that are too out there for my tastes. 6 out of 10
Very underwhelming stuff. The flow didn’t hit at all. It was only interesting musically and some of the scratch/mixing. 2 out of 10
The Kinks is rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands. Before I went on this journey I didn’t give them too much attention, but now, they’re really hooking me. They have this unique way of crafting songs and melodies, they were one of a kind! 8,5 out of 10
Pretty enjoyable record! Hadn’t heard any song of this, ever. But before I knew it, I was humming along. I’ll check out more of their works! 7,5 out of 10
Not really my thing. I did like some of the more melodic moments, but I think they’re quite sparse for this band? This is, something.. 4 out of 10
This one takes me back! I fell in love with Gorillaz in my teens. The upcoming 2 albums were great as well. A cool mix of hip hop meets pop meets synths, great collaborations which only became more in the present (too many if you ask me). I’m sad to see what Gorillaz has grown into, but those first 3 records are still spun on frequent basis! 8,5 out of 10
Never heard anything from this band till today. But, the description had me very intrigued. And on first listen, I’m hooked. This band, or at least on this album, goes for a kind of mash between The Who and early Pink Floyd material. And it is absolutely brilliant, all great stuff, especially musically. I need to check out more from them. 8,5 out of 10
Musically quite enjoyable, but I don't dig the singer all that much. Probabaly won't dive into this band again unless I hear something very interesting from them. 6 out of 10
Great, great album. I’m starting to love this band so much! Very good mix of classic rock with a dash of prog and folk. And Steve Winwood is crazy talented. 8,5 out of 10
The king of pop! Probably his 2nd best album i think. It has some great hits but also very good deep cuts. I’m not the biggest Michael Jackson fan, but he was very talented! 8 out of 10
What the fuck is this? I have really no understanding how people like this. I sat through the record, and it's just 36 minutes wasted on something I will never, ever listen to again. Just terrible stuff. 1 out of 10
One of the few Shoegaze bands I adore. The genre never really clicked with me, but when I discovered this album, I grew more towards it. I still have lots to discover, but this is a great start point and to reference while trying out new records! 8 out of 10
Perhaps one of the records that shaped bands a lot musically in the oncoming decades! While I don't love AC/DC that much, I appreciate what they did in music and it's just fun music. But I could put on almost any album by them, and have that same fun feeling. They have their own special place in music. I'd like to think if it wasn't for this band, a lot of later bands would sound quite different. 8 out of 10
One of my favourite discoveries of the 2000s. Brilliant songwriter and has some great peaks throughout his career. This album almost feels like a indie prog hybrid, and it works great, for the most part. There’s a lot of short intermission type songs that don’t add all that much which could’ve been trimmed or weaved in the songs around them. But still, a great listen I really enjoyed! 8,5 out of 10
Aside from the hits, which I don’t care all too much for, this was actually pretty good! Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable! 7 out of 10
Quite impressed by this lady. The songs are solid, good vocal melodies, nice song progressions. Definitely someone worth keeping an eye one! 7,5 out of 10
My love for sound garden grew a bit more interestingly! Throughout the years I heard Black Hole Sun, and I think that’s it, no other big hits on the radio that I remember having airtime. Me and some pals went to this rock festival, and Soundgarden was performing. I was absolutely floored having no knowledge at all about any songs, this band was amazing!!! So naturally as soon as possible, I gobbled up their albums and they became one of my favourite bands! Superunknown is a great piece, probably the best work that shows tints of the old and Soundgarden they would grow towards. So much songs I adore on here. I don’t necessary put this album on alsof, but I do shuffle their discography frequenty! Chris was a gem, so incredibly talented and sorely missed. Eagerly awaiting to hear the last takes of songs they are supposedly working on! 8,5 out of 10
I never really gotten into Pixies, and listening the whole album kinda made it a bit worse? THey're a bit too weird for me. Musically interesting, it takes some cool shifts and turns in the songs. But whenever the vocals kick in, either by Black Francis or Kim Deal, it bugs me. Maybe another album works better, but it seems this is their magnum opus, so I kinda doubt it. 4,5 out of 10
This album is growing immensely in my all time favourite albums, it is that good! With only 4 songs Isaac Hayes, can’t afford any missteps, and frankly, there’s none. Deep, buttery smooth voice backed by an incredible band. And lyrically great too, sometimes on the nose, but mostly very creative wordplay and a nice flow to the singing. 9 out of 10
This record makes me feel joyous! The songs are upbeat, and while I haven’t given the full attention to the lyrics it deserves yet. I feel the songs do have some darker undertones. But this is some very strong stuff, you can tell Bob Dylan is an absolute legend in what he does! I noticed some very clever wordplays in a few spots. I really need to digest this man’s output. 8,5 out of 10
Surprisingly good pop/country album! I found the instrumentation very intriguing and going in some unexpected places. The vocals, while passable, were the least enjoyable in my opinion. Will check out more! 7,5 out of 10
I love this album! This band was amazing, nearly no misses for me. Iconic cover, great songs I can listen over and over! A fantastic album that shows what they’re about, what they have in store and what’s to come! 9 out of 10
This guy is a nut, but a nut can write cool songs too! I’m no big Ian Dury fan, I don’t think I ever will. But I can enjoy his songs, just not too much at a time. Still, there’s a hook to the songs and he was a huge influence for the sound of pubrock and britpop! 7 out of 10
Iconic album in the Hip Hop scene, I've known the big songs for years, but never took it in full. And to be honest, it's quite a jam, but all in all a bit too samey. Musically it's pretty great, and a lot of good features from Snoop Dogg. But I highly doubt I'd put this on in full compared to other albums in the future. 6 out of 10
While listening this record I went all Leonardo DiCaprio when In The Street came on. I never knew it came from here. I’ve seen the cover countless times but never really listened to it. And it’s a shame, it’s a power pop great record filled with lots of beautiful harmonisation and hooks that make you hum along. I learned that the band did not live on much longer and that is too bad. I think these guys really had something special here. 8,5 out of 10
I'm starting to think Björk is not the artist for me. The music, arrangement and use of her voice isn't something I particularly like. And it's a waste, I could imagine her doing great toned down folksy records. It's a very challenging listen, maybe I'd need to do more. But I'm not feeling too fond about it after one spin. I respect her for staying true to herself and not cashing in. It turns out to be a unique record, and fans probably love it to bits. But if you're new to Björk, this is probably not a good starting point. 5,5 out of 10
Great indie album! This band took a while for me to get into. But now I love most of their albums! Not sure if Funeral or this one takes the crown 8 out of 10
Three very distinct voices within the country world, brought together to make standout songs. Throw in David Lindley and Albert Lee and you got yourself a pretty solid band! The harmonies are beautiful and the songs, albeit a bit sappy at time, are very traditional and well crafted. 7.5 out of 10
This is some kind of soul, pop, dance, funk hybrid. It works pretty good in most moments, yet I'm not too keen on the vocals. The album is soulful and catchy, it was kind of lightning caught in a bottle as he never really reached the same success later on. The opener is solid! 8 out of 10
One of my all time favorites, I have a soft spot for this one. A lot of great songs on this one and perhaps the last pretty standard Beatles album before things got experimental! 8,5 out of 10
Classic soul, R&B album by the late, great Marvin Gaye. Without a shadow of doubt his best album. Nothing but knockouts, and what a voice the man has. Backed by a great band. it stands out to me how each song flows into the next one. The album touches upon some dark topics, but the songs seem lighthearted, but if you look up the lyrics. All in all, excellent album that I love to listen to! 9 out of 10
Pretty nice debut by this iconic band! The vocals are definitely a well discussed weaker point, but Michael would work on that for upcoming releases. I have never been a big R.E.M. fan, and I'm not sure if I'll ever be. But I recognise their significance in music and applaud them for their great body of work, look forward to diving in their other releases though! 7 out of 10
Absolutely zonked when I heard this album. It's like a baseballbat with needles, put on fire, repeatedly bashing you in the head. I just can't understand what bands like this are going for and try to achieve other than make the most unenjoyable music ever to be heard. It's just so off putting and I don't think I will ever "get it". Cheers to those who do like it, there seems to be heaps of you freaks. 1,5 out of 10
This is somewhat of a holy grail to me in my childhood. I breathed this album, can dream it from front to back. This album had such a huge influence on other music I would discover in the following years. The melting pot of rock, metal, hiphop and electronics is perfectly displayed here By far my favorite of their works, and I feel so lucky to have seen them once and several of these songs in concert! I miss this band and Chester dearly. 9 out of 10
One of the albums of this band I spent less time with, and such a shame! It's no Ok Computer or close to Kid A, but this record still reaches a lot of highs! I can see this one getting more spins in the future, loved it! 8 out of 10
Absolutely brilliant is all I have to say. This band has had a great, solid run up till the last record with frontman Jim Morrison. Their first album features many fan favorites, lot of earworms and hum alongs. I can only imagine how great it must've been to see this band back in the day! It's a great culmination of Rock, Psychedelic, R&B, Jazz & Pop. 9,5 out of 10
Oh man, was I wrong about this album. I'm a huge fan of Curtis Mayfield, Freddie's Dead is a very good song. The first time I ever heard this cover, I kind of flunked the album and didn't listen to more. But today I did, and it's such a jam!! They make great use of their horn section and it melds great in th edgier songs. It feels a bit similar to the first Red Hot Chili Peppers albums, sweet funk vibes with a rocky edge, but they also don't take themselves to seriously. All in all a very fun album and makes me want to listen to more of these guys! 7,5 out of 10
Fantastic display of New-Wave, Post-Punk, Funk, Art Pop while all still very danceable! Talking Heads is a very out there band but when they hook you, they reel you in fast. I'm digging them more and more and this might just be my favorite of theirs. 8,5 out of 10
One of those bands I based on description, sort of ignored. And it's quite interesting! Musically very rhythmic, atypical sounds and progressions. I understand this is one of their more accessible records, I'm curious about others! 7 out of 10
I wasn't looking forward to this one, but i pushed through. This is so excruciating to listen front to back. I apologize to my ears for the hour wasted on bad music. 2 out of 10
Ace record that I never listened to. I liked it so much, I listened 5 times throughout the day! She's almost like the female counterpart of Iggy Pop. There's some punky vibes, a lot of rock, but the songs also take a jazzier approach. It's a great album to discover what her style is like. And I am eager to discover more of her works. 8 out of 10
Now this, is music I love! One of those bands where I've never strayed too far from the singles. And there's some great material on here. A very sweet, short but cohesive album! The lyrical department might be a bit cliche, but I think the essence of Chic is to just dance, feel good and enjoy! 8 out of 10
Interesting mix of Indie, Soul, Art Pop and a dash of Prog. I like the shorter and concise albums, but this was almost overstaying to me. There were moments I was really into it, especially instrumentally. Vocally it didn't get me that much. 7 out of 10
I can't begin to express how much I love this man's music! So many great albums, but this one just might take the cake. What is there to say that hasn't been said already? Bruce and his band sculpt a great album which mixes rock, pop, soul, funk, all while taking some inspiration from the synths that were heavy in use those years. It feels like such a cohesive band effort, everyone gets a chance to shine. I applaud Bruce for his long and varied body of work. But if I had to pick one, I think it would be this one! 9,5 out of 10
Brilliant album, the kind of jazz I like! Very mellow, laid back. It takes a lot of interesting turns and movements. And it features one of the best drummers in the genre! Great album to relax with. 8 out of 10
This album is overlooked by me. And it is absolutely fantastic! I mean what a band this was. I must've listened this about 5-6 times and it just reeled me in. Can't wait to dive in their other albums! 8,5 out of 10
Another great one by the Boss! It features a lot of his staple songs which greatly benefitted his popularity. Sometimes it seems, with each listen, it's gaining a lout of momentum and I could see this one growing to become my favorite. record of him. But his discography is wild and just too much good albums to pick from! But this is a nearly perfect album and I love it very much! 9 out of 10
Very nice laidback, moving jazz album! All players are a class act, but never outplay themselves. The music is flowing freely and progresses beautifully. This is what great jazz is about! 8,5 out of 10
One of those artists I only heard a song pass by but it fades into memory. But he is something unique. Very dramatic, intense performances here. Maybe it would help if I was more fluent in French, but I’m not.. But his style was definitely original and I can see the appeal for a lot of people. 6,5 out of 10
Great record by one of my favourite songwriters! Such a cohesive album that shows many of his strengths. It’s an album I’ve listened countless times yet still discover new tidbits, that’s what I love about music. These songs got you humming along in no time! 9 out of 10
Very fun listen, I almost always love these albums! Just makes me which I could properly dance to it lol. I also had at least on Dicaprio moment of a passage I heard that's been sampled a ton. And the album sounds just like a solid unit, they're having a blast, enjoying the vibes, noit outplaying each other. More of this please! 8 out of 10
I’m not the biggest Stones fan, but have tremendous respect for their career and longevity. This album has great songs on it, but it is quite long and overstays a bit. The chemistry in this band is palpable and the songs benefit from the added brass section. 8,5 out of 10
Yeah, this isn’t really it for me. Very bland aside from a few tunes. I get the appeal for some people, but I rather listen to something else! 4 out of 10
This one didn't really stand out too much. Sure, it's a nice mix of genres, Post-Punk being the main one with some New Wave and Funk influences. I like when they let the piano rule. The lyrics seem to bring the vibes down a bit, contrasts greatly towards the musical side. 6,5 out of 10
Beautiful pop/folk album. These guys were legendary and wrote absolute stellar songs. Beautiful compositions sung by two great voices, what else is there to say! 9 out of 10
Cool album by these guys! They had a huge impact on Hip-Hop for years to come. But it's quite lengthy though 7 out of 10
Super cool debut album! This band went on to pump out huge records with catchy songs and this was a great start for them. I gotta say, the singing for me is the weakest part, but it does appeal to the more Punk sound that they were moving to. 8 out of 10
Great album that I seem to bond with more over each listen! Well penned songs accompanied by a beautiful voice. 7,5 out of 10
Crazy impressive debut from these guys! I spin all their albums frequently, but this one takes the cake. A lot of different influences on show here, and the sampling is insane. I often say an album is at perfect length or overstays its welcome. But in this case, it could've been longer, it's just that good and fun! 9,5 out of 10
A more traditional Sinatra album that features some of his biggest songs. It's classic, timeless, the voice as smooth as silk. I get in the mood for this type of music in the fall/winter, so the timing was just right! 8 out of 10
On this album the band was finding their sound just a bit more. Do The Strand being the main and only single here. The rest of the album feels a bit more experimental and the sounds get weird! That being said, the songs are very cohesive and work extremely well. Brilliant band. 8,5 out of 10
I understand the appeal, but too me, R.E.M. is just too bland. Sure I like songs as Drive, Find The River, Nightswimming and such. But I can only like it for so long, their vibe starts to wear me down. I wish I could get into them more, but I guess it's not a band that appeals to me greatly. That said, the guitar sounds, bass and vocals are phenomenal. 7 out of 10
I can't believe how I slept on this for so many years! Of course I heard the singles, but aside from that, I went in blank. And it lit me up, very catchy songs, good features, clever flows and lyricism. I'll check out more of 50 Cent! 8 out of 10
Very smooth laid back album. The mix of latin and english works pretty weel. Instrumentally it's pretty good and she sings very soothing. 7 out of 10
Beautiful album! I love this guy's music. While it's just a smidge beneath Superfly, still very good music! 8 out of 10
Musically enjoyable and I recognise the talents of all involved, but it’s not the hiphop I enjoy. Still, it’s a very iconic album and influenced tons of artists following! 7 out of 10
Fun album! I see this being a huge influence for bands as Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy’s and such. Well executed songs with a good production. 7 out of 10
Pretty chill music by itself, but I feel no connection to this type of music as I have no African roots. I think it’s cool they got a proper chance to record their songs and bring it to the masses! 6,5 out of 10
This album hit me hard instantly the first time I listened to it. It had so much impact and staying power. One of my absolute favorite Soul/R&B albums! 9 out of 10
The start of one of the most inspirational groups in Hip Hop. It feels like they were still discovering their strengths and the flow is a bit janky at times. But still a good start and they improved it quite some on further releases! 7 out of 10
Beautiful record, uniquely recorded in the Royal Albert Hall. Never listened to them, and was quite surprised! Will sit down some more with their music 7,5 out of 10
Very impressive how Todd Rundgren basically did about 80% of this album! I have to say, I’m not the biggest fan, but the guy has a knack for good melodies. Maybe I need to dive some more into his catalogue! 7 out of 10
One of my absolute favorite songwriters! I don't know how many times I've spun this album, I love it. It shows all the great things about Nick and his band and I have to give a shout out for the band, because they're all insanely talented. Even though this album shows more of the rocky/frenzy side of the band, there's also some great moments of beauty. 8,5 out of 10
Cool album musically, it flows pretty well, proper length. Too bad I don’t understand French! 6 out of 10
It's pretty good, nothing that particularly stands out too much. I like the trippy mexican vibe throughout though. His voice reminds me of the vocalist for Failure, that's pretty cool. But I doubt I'll become a huge fan of his work. 6,5 out of 10
Beautiful album with superb musicians. Peter Gabriel had a very strong solo output, this one was perhaps the most successful. There’s a lot of musical influences, mainly pop but also, funk on Sledgehammer, ambient, ethereal soundscapes on Red Rain and Don’t Give Up. Very strong stuff! 8,5 out of 10
Amazing album, very underrated songwriter. I feel he belongs up there next to Dylan. The man can write beautiful songs and has a lot to say on this short, concise album! 9 out of 10
Nice mellow album! Did not know this guy used to play in Pulp. While I like the styles and overall playing, it does become a bit stale after a while. 7 out of 10
Not my alley at all. Very weathered voice and songwriting that I just don’t dig. 4 out of 10
Great album! Each album I dive into by the man, makes me appreciate his output more and more. It's incredible what he put out in his lifetime, and this is a high mark. Backed by an incredible band and writing poignant songs with beautiful stories! 9 out of 10
I like this one a lot, maybe my favourite solo outing of John Lennon. Backed by incredible musicians he made some very strong songs! 8,5 out of 10
This album is such a jam and such a gem! Tupac was truly one of a kind, incredibly poetic in his songs, flowing like a knife through butter. This album is a testament to his skill and creativity. The world could use more of this in Hip Hop. 9 out of 10
What a voice! The songs are pretty good, although they stay too much in the same patterns, I’d like a bit more variation. It was a good early album that inspired many following artists. 7 out of 10
Fun album! But you really, really gotta be a bluegrass fan to sit through this. At times it felt like I was listening to the same song. Other than that, musicianship is great and it must have been a blast to see them live! 7 out of 10
Very interesting album! It’s almost like a Radiohead / Portishead hybrid, but still very much its unique thing! There’s a bit of an eerie/haunting vibe throughout some songs, and that’s great. The vocals are used almost as an instrument, which I love. I need to check out more by them. 8,5 out of 10
The great Isaac Hayes! Musically very great album, and rhe guy's got a voice as smooth as butter. But it's just a bit behind Hot Buttered Soul for me. Not to say it isn't great, I just like the other album more. This is still very good music and I love to put it on! 8,5 out of 10
Brilliant record! I think this was the first one I ever listened by Radiohead. While mostly put a little behind Kid A and Ok Computer, I put it above Kid A. What is left to be said about this band, they write some of the best songs in the rock/alt/prog genre and they deliver always. 9 out of 10
I’m kind of bugged out this is the kind of jazz I don’t like. It’s too wild for me I guess, I’m more into an album like In A Silent Way. But it is amazing how fast paced they worked and how it all come together. Different strokes for different folks. 6 out of 10
How have I never heard of this band?! This is perfect for me! Punk - check. Melodies - check. Good musicians - check. Interesting songs - check. I barely now anything about this band, but I sure as hell gonna. 8,5 out of 10
This is impressive! Metallica rendering their songs to work well with an orchestra. I have to say I don't like James's performance in quite some moments, but the band is on fire. The orchestra works great on top of and working around the songs. The exclusive songs for this concert are great too! 8 out of 10
Fun, quirky album. Classic in the genre, but not a classic for me, I’m not a big Blur fan. They write some nice songs, but Damon Albarn’s voice jars me. 7,5 out of 10
Good indie album! Great to see these guys in a festival slot. This album is a good starting point and probably some of their strongest material! 7,5 out of 10
Although yes, not actually his last album before his death, for me this is a true David Bowie album and it would be a great sendoff. Blackstar is great too, but it's a whole different beast and it's hard for me to listen to it. I remember being extremely surprised 10 years ago when it was announced, thrilled to hear new music by one of pop's most brilliant artists! And there it was, simply blown away by the beauty, quirky, and everything in between. The man was an absolute legend with an extensive body of work to show for it. 8,5 out of 10
Love letter album for the 70s. Such a great one with lots of hits! Incrediblw musicians in this band with a lot of talent. I wish this band could've released more but alas. Still a wonderful album and one I love to put on every now and then! 9 out of 10
Sweet album! I’m not a huge Rod Stewart fan, but in Faces I dig his role a bit more rather than being the main singer. It’s a great musical album and it features some classic songs! 7,5 out of 10
While I like The Chemical Brothers to a certain extent, listening to their full albums never clicked with me. It’s more of a shuffle rotation kind of music for me. I have this with most electronic artists, maybe it’ll change, It’s not of of my favoriete genres. 6 out of 10
Mammoth album!!! For sure in my top 10 albums of all time, there’s just not a single bad thing about it. Led Zeppelin was one of a kind, great musicianship, great singing and even better songwriting. Bonham to me is especially inspiring being a drummer! Terrific rock songs with a great knack of melody! 9,5 out of 10
My first connection to this band was the Rage Against The Machine cover of Kick Out The Jams, and that was rad! But I never bothered to look up the original. This concert album is a very good recording of what the band is about. Loud rock music with lots of protest messages throughout. Good stuff! 7,5 out of 10
I’m really growing more into country. Merle Haggard is one of the biggest in the genre and you can tell he has a knack for songwriting! Beautiful short songs with strong stories! 8 out of 10
Sleazy kind of mellow pop/rock album. I dig it in a way, but the album is too long and too samey to keep me interested. 6 out of 10
What a great, varied album! Plenty of upbeat swingers and lots of slower moving songs. I just wish it was balanced a little bit better! The man can sing like the greatest and he has great performers behind him. 8,5 out of 10
Although I like ZZ Top in general, this feels a bit too bland? I love the singles, and several songs have great directions, but it could use some more hard rocking songs. 7,5 out of 10
Very unique album! Can’t say I love it, but the moments I like are very good. Unfortunately there’s also some freak out moments where they totally lose me. 7 out of 10
Not a band I listen to often, I’m more into something like The Avalanches, MGMT, Daft Punk etc. But it still is quite an enjoyable album! 6,5 out of 10
Yeah this ain’t the female music I can dig. I get the booming grunge scene and that this came out as response. But it just ain’t for me. 2 out of 10
Very cool to hear this legend his songs in a live format! He was very versatile and this recording shows it! Great length too! 8 out of 10
At many times this felt like I was listening to an album directed at teenage girls. But at times this also felt like an album that made some interesting creative turns. By all means not an album I will continue to listen. But not bad at all 6 out of 10
Classic Indie album! I remember discovering them when their debut came out and was totally blown away. This, in my opinion is where their strength lies, not in the more melancholic later works. 8 out of 10
For me this feels like a tad louder Nirvana, although Nirvana was catchier. Still they're very energetic songs and pretty great at that! 7,5 out of 10
Real nice atmospheric album. The addition of orchestra throughout is great. The opener especially is fantastic! Not really that much in the singer’s voice though. 7 out of 10
Stellar album! This one I’ve listened plenty of times over the years and grew to loce move and more. At times they can get filthy, literally put on the stank, but that makes them unique! And the playing is sublime. 8,5 out of 10
Landmark album! Incredible what they achieved on this record. So influential, ground breaking and timeless. I’ve listened to this record tons of times, but that experience never diminishes. 9,5 out of 10
Now this surprised me more than I thought it would. First of all, very impressive voice. But the song arrangements were also very well thought out and instrumentally interesting! To be honest, I was expecting kind of another cookiecutter female rap performer on top of generic beats and music passages. But this was something else! 8 out of 10
Wow, this was intense.. I heard these guys were something else, but not really expected this. Very King Crimson esque, but a bit crazier. It was too much for me too dig out enjoyable moments and I don’t think I’ll really connect with this band or music. 2 out of 10
Really cool debut album! The band grow bigger over the years and I love most of their work. Josh Homs is very impressive on guitar and vocals and this is a very good starting point to discover the band! 8 out of 10
Pretty chill album. Only ever heard Brimful Of Asha and I pretty much expected more of the same going in. But I was pleasantly surprised to see it being more creative and somewhat psychedelic. It's not gonna be a group I want to dive in, but It was quite nice. It did stay too much in the same laid back kind of mood, and it got off putting for the better part of an hour. 7 out of 10
Stone cold classic! Near perfect album. The musicianship, songcrafting and singing have never been this good. And all mixed crispy clear. I would have loved to see them live one day! 9,5 out of 10
What a fantastic album! I feel like this one is more joyous/upbeat and less melancholic that their other works. It’s a great spin and shows of all their musical strengths! 9 out of 10
Pretty good performance with one of the best drummers as a cherry on top. This is not my kind of music per se, but I liked it still m’n You can tell they had a blast in performing these songs! 7,5 out of 10
Musically is what I like about it, and the guy sure can sing. But some of the themes and lyrical directions were a bit cringe for me. Still, one of the great pop icons and for sure an album I would never put on if it wasn’t for this project! 7 out of 10
Okay, this album actually bore me to sleep.. I don't know if it's the lame voice of the singer, the weird song themes, the uninspired music or just the combination of the three. I could do without this band and their bland music. 4 out of 10
One of the classic bands, still going strong today. This record is another important one, dynamic songs, dizzying musicianship, strong themes. Yeah, this band is great! 8,5 out of 10
Way too much of the same bland progressions and too long of a record to keep me interested. There were a few instances where I thought it might go somewhere cool, but it stayed too safe. 4 out of 10
One of my favourite solo albums, both within the Beatles world and outside of. It’s just so ridiculously good. John was as essential to the Beatles as the other 3. But to hear him branch out through his solo albums is very cool! Sometimes I dream of an alternate timeline where John would still makes music today and maybe, just maybe they would someday reunite the Beatles. But that’s not in the cards, luckily we all have their wonderful music they continue to give us. 9 out of 10
Beautiful album! Truly a genius musician, the way he led other musicians to envision the sounds he was hearing, amazing. Top notch players and beautiful songs! 9 out of 10
First thought was, did Brandon Fraser ever make music? 🤔 These are quite nice jams, reminds me of a more chill Chemical Brothers a bit. But it’s too much of the same going on. 6 out of 10
This one was quite cool, though pretty weird at the same time. But I liked the punky feel to the songs. The lyrics seem pretty silly, but it's part of the charm. Nice hybrid type of Punk, Rock and Psychobilly! 7,5 out of 10
Yeah, this is great! What a wonderful voice and beautiful music to set the scenery. Very mellow melancholic songs perfect for a fall/winter evening. 8 out of 10
A band I discovered throughout this site. The first album of theirs I listened, A Short Album About Love really caught me by surprise! And this one was at least equally good. But I feel this one was a bit more to the satirical side, which I really liked. Again, instrumentally it's ace, the voice is great and the songs are really well written. 8,5 out of 10
Fun album, liked it more than I thought I would! Of course, I heard Work It years ago, but never bothered to listen the album. But it’s actually pretty good! Some nice features, good beats, pristine mix, good lines and wordplay. 7,5 out of 10
Catchy stuff for sure. But I just can’t get past the annoying vocals. Other than that, it’s pretty good punk with a nice pop/rock hook. 7 out of 10
What a huge classic! It’s hard to nitpick this album and band, because honestly, it’s all so damn good! Being a drummer, Keith Moon is absolutely the MVP, but Daltrey has a great delivery of vocals too. The songs are solidly written, the album is far from too long and it’s got some of their greatest songs! 9,5 out of 10
Yeah this guy is good, but his voice is hit or miss for me. The album is pretty great though. It’s got a great vibe to it, cool features, good instrumentation! Will check out more. 8 out of 10
This one caught me by surprise! Very good album, but I had too less time to commit to another listen, excited to dive back in and check out their other works! The songs seem very intricately layered, and both vocals are great! 8 out of 10
I love this album! It's like the perfect segue towards their more experimental albums. Their new approach for songwriting works well, and the songs are great! 8,5 out of 10
This was great! The first song had me tapping, grinning and singing along in no time. I can tell this guy had a huge knack to write great country songs! I'm eager to check out more. 8 out of 10
Fun, classic album! The softer, more mellow songs surprised me too. Lyrically it’s quite cliche and not too special, but musically it got quite good! Love Nile Rodgers’s contribution! 8 out of 10
Good country songs! The songs tell good stories, that really take you back to that scenery of the Wild West. It reminds me a lot of Johnny Cash And the harmonisation in the songs is fantastic! 7,5 out of 10
Very good, although I give the edge to Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall. But still, this is a fantastic record. 8,5 out of 10
Classic though it may be, I do get somewhat tired when I get near the end. It’s good, but too much of the same at times. The aspect that keeps me engaged is the playing of Chad, John and Flea. That musical ensemble is just amazing, and while I think Kiedis is the best match for the Peppers, he is far and miles away from my favourite singers/frontmen. The album however is very influential and really set the bar for bands in the scene and bands coming up! 8,5 out of 10
This one felt like a run by the mill country record? I don't want to offend, but it just didn't stand out that much. Her voice is good, not too special, the music fits, but it never really took off. 6 out of 10
Fun album! I can see the appeal for his music, to me it's a bit too jolly? The guy can play the piano though, and he had quite a good band to back him up! 7,5 out of 10
I liked this one! It's got kind of a tribal / middle eastern influence to it. Very percussive and drum based songs. I don't think this band will rise up the ladder of favourite acts, but it is a pretty good record. The voice doesn't really work for me though. 7 out of 10
Classic, huge epic classic! One of the building blocks that had a big influence on what progressive rock would become over the coming years. Great combination of virtuoso musicians, jazz, fusion, ambiance and rock. Every one gets to shine. I never did a real deep dive through their discography, but whenever I listen to this, I know I should! 9 out of 10
The metamorphosis of Michael Jackson is truly special. His first works with the Jackson’s were pretty good. It gained him quite some reputation to take off and show what he’s about. It resulted in this great funk/pop/r&b album. It showed off great what the disco records were about but also kind of looked past that, played with it, and built on it! The music is super catchy and always makes me feel good! 8,5 out of 10
The kinks are turning into one of my favourite bands due to this site! Every other album seems more greater than the one before. This one is no exception. From the exceptional opener Victoria to Shangri-La to Arthur and everything in between! Fantastic album by an amazing band! 9 out of 10
I kinda like where this album was going, but it also put me off in times. But the band has a unique take on the genre. It’s just a bit too out there. 6 out of 10
Nice chill jazz album! Very laid back, the guy can really let the hammond swing. But I also got to tip my hat to the sax man Stanley Turrentine, great playing! More of this please!!! 9 out of 10
This one is cool! I love the playing, songwriting and overall vibe of the album. The voice not that much, but I think it's part of the charm? Maybe I need to grow more warm to it! Will definitely do a discography dive! 8,5 out of 10
Very cool album! It's got great harmonies, the opener is fantastic A sweet concise album, that doesn't waste time, except for the quirky interludes maybe. The songs have fantastic hooks and melodies. They're having a ball and being goofy at times, but I think it's a bit of their trademark? Standouts: You Told Me, Shades Of Gray, For Pete's Sake, Sunny Girlfriend, Early Morning Blues And Greens 8,5 out of 10
Well, this album just gets out and kicks you in the head. The energy in the ensemble is amazing. Fast rippers aplenty and some more melancholic tunes as well. I used to hear some of his music when I visited my grandparents back in the day, great to discover more of his works! Standouts: The Kid From Red Bank, After Supper, Flight Of The Foo Birds, Whirly-Bird, Splanky, Lil' Darlin' 8 out of 10
Great instrumentation, but like I said for their Bossanova album, the vocals are so off-putting for me. This didn't really change my mind on that thought. Real pity though, the band is amazing, but the singer just really blows it for me Standouts: Debaser, I Bleed, Here Comes Your Man, Monkey Gone To Heaven, Mr. Grieves No. 13 Baby, Hey, Gouge Away 7,5 out of 10
One of the more interesting side projects Damon Albarn did. For me, it wouldn't top Gorillaz, but it vibes well! The line up is well formed and the songs are pretty interesting. Musically it's where the strength lies Standouts: History Song, Northern Whale, Kingdom Of Doom, Herculean, Nature Springs, Three Changes, 7 out of 10
Very unique blend of genres! I hear some western, trip hop, mariachi, pop and country. Great crafted songs and the singer is very good! Standouts: Quattro (World Drifts In), Black Heart, Woven Birds, Attack! El Robot! Attack!, Across The Wire, Alone Again Or, No Doze 8,5 out of 10
Very experimental record, although that is what you sign up for when putting on a King Crimson album! The first one to feature world class drummer Bill Bruford on record, and what a great addition he is! The middle eastern, oriental influence is a welcome one too. And Robert Fripp is musicianship is just phenomenal! Standouts: Larks' Tongues In Aspic, Pt. 1, Book Of Saturday, Exiles, Easy Money, Larks' Tongues In Aspic, Pt. 2 9 out of 10
I have to admit, R.E.M. is one of the more popular bands I find to be pretty dull. But this album was a bit more hit than miss, I enjoyed it a bit more than listens of other albums. Maybe I'm growing more fond of them, or maybe this record is a nit more concise, but I was pretty impressed! Standouts: Get Up, Stand, World Leader Pretend, Orange Crush, Turn You Inside-Out, Hairshirt, I Remember California, 7,5 out of 10
Such a soulful, stellar album! The musicality is on point. And while the band is amazing, from the soaring hammond, the groovy drums and great guitarwork. It's Janis that steals the show, she was such an amazing, gifted singer. The rasp and warmth in her voice is something special, pure rock & roll. Standouts: Move Over, A Woman Left Lonely, Half Moon, My Baby, Me And Bobby McGee, Trust Me, Get It While You Can 9 out of 10
I guess I needed to give them some more listens and give it more attention. This record I liked a bit more than the one I got two days ago. I feel it has a bit more punch and creativity, and the vocals seem better! Standouts: Finest Worksong, Exhuming McCarthy, It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine), The One I Love, Fireplace, King Of Birds, Oddfellows Local 151 8 out of 10
Oh my god, this album!!! What have I been missing all this time! Such a great record. Next to the classic hits, the other songs are equally as good. But City, Country, City really blew me away! Standouts: The Cisco Kid, Where Was You At, City, Country, City, Four Cornered Room, The World Is A Ghetto 9 out of 10
Yeah I don’t knownabout this one. What a weird album. I found it hard to find anything likeable on this album, too bad. 2 out of 10
This scratches my Smiths itch pretty good, can’t deny that! Morissey being as cynical as ever. But still such a great voice. Fun songs, great song writing, all that you can expect from his music. Standout: America Is Not The World, Irish Blood, English Heart, I’m Not Sorry, How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?, First Of The Gang To Die, All The Lazy Dykes, You Know I Couldn’t Last 8 out of 10
Fun album, great musicians! 7 out of 10
This album is great, I argue it would be fantastic if the album would be trimmed down to 55-60 minutes. Some songs meander a bit too long without really going somewhere. But the bulk of this album however is really good! Powerful stuff. Standouts: 1999, Little Red Corvette, Let’s Pretend We’re Married, Automatic, Free, Lady Cab Driver, International Lover 8 out of 10
I like this for it's ambient and melodic mood, but it does get a bit repetitive Moby made some pretty good music, and this record stands out the most! But the interludes could be skipped. Standouts: Honey, Porcelain, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?, Bodyrock, Natural Blues, Machete, If Things Were Perfect, Everloving, The Sky Is Broken, 7 out of 10
Although the album is quite iconic, I feel it didn't age all that well. The production is fine and the lyrics are still very relevant. The album is just too long and doesn;t beat their earlier work. 6 out of 10
This whole album is an incredible world to immerse yourself. There is so many great things going on, with an incredible emotional payoff. I can’t tell how many times I listened this album, but it’s one of my favourites! 9 out of 10
What an album! So many hard knockers in here. This band truly had something special. Such a shame they went after the money and mainstream. Standout tracks: Slow Night, So Long, King Of The Rodeo, Taper Jean Girl, Milk, The Bucket, Soft, Razz, Day Old Blues, Four Kicks, Velvet Snow, Rememo, Where Nobody Knows. 9,5 out of 10
Such a powerful album! A bit noisy yet also some dreamy moments. When they rock, they bring the rock! Standout tracks: Little Fury Things, Kracked, SludgeFeast, Tarpit, In A Jar, Lose 8,5 out of 10
Honestly, got more impressed by this album the further it got on. The guitars, basswork and keyboards especially is pretty great! I do find the singing a bit annoying, good at times, but grating in the other songs. Standout tracks: Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier, A Design For Life, Enola / Alone, Everything Must Go, The Girl Who Wanted To Be God, Australia, Further Away, No Surface All Feeling, 8 out of 10
Geez, what an album, blows me away every time!!! To imagine what would only come after this very strong debut album is incredible. Very good songs with a great feel, joy and power that was quite unmatched. Standout tracks: Honestly the whole album, but Out In The Street, The Good's Gone, La-La-La Lies, Much Too Much, My Generation, The Kids Are Alright, It's Not True, A Legal Matter and The Ox stood out most! 9 out of 10
I'm no big Reggae enjoyer. But some tracks on here i found quite enjoyable! I doubt this will stick for years to come though. Standout tracks: Legalize It, No Sympathy, Igziabeher (Let Jah Be Praised, Ketchy Shuby, 4 out of 10
This impressed me more than I thought it would. Lots of cool sound effects and instrument uses. Great features and crispy clear production!! Standout tracks: Lyrics, Corn On The Curb, It Ain't Safe, Man, Shutdown, That's Not Me, Text Me Back 7,5 out of 10
Such a great album! Beautiful, lush soundscapes that make you dream out of the world. This band evokes a feeling a lot of bands don't manage to strike. It’s very melancholic, memorable and greatly composed. Standout tracks: Zebra, Silver Soul, Walk In The Park, Used To Be, Lover Of Mine, Better Times, Real Love, Take Care 9 out of 10
One of the greatest pop bands to ever create music. Not one of my favourite bands, but I see how they got so big and what made them so good. The vocals, harmonies, music, all worked out until it was perfect. Standout tracks: When I Kissed The Teacher, Dancing Queen, My Love, My Life, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Money, Money, Money, Tiger, Fernando 8,5 out of 10
Kind of like a jazzy, more rocky Beach Boys! Very cool songs with a less traditional approach to song writing. The vocals are great and instrumentally very strong! Standout tracks: A Girl Like You, Find Somebody, Sueno, How Can I Be Sure, Groovin’, I Don’t Love You Anymore, You Better Run, 8,5 out of 10
What a great album with a few tracks that were less good. This album is such a huge nostalgia trip. I can sing along and just feel like that 6 year old skater boy again. But now I listen to it differently, the instruments stand out more and the mix is great! Standout tracks: Burnout, Having A Blast, Chump, Longview, Welcome To Paradise, Pulling Teeth, Basket Case, She, When I Come Around, Emenius Sleepus, In The End, F.O.D., 8,5 out of 10
Such a beautiful record, and I shamefully have to admit to never hear anything from here, besides her hits. But, this was remarkably good! Very good written songs, with a great focus on musicality, but her voice also stands out very much! This is just great music to put on in the back and ease out to. Standout tracks: Don’t Know Why, Cold Cold Heart, Come Away With Me, Shoot The Moon, Lonestar, I’ve Got To See You Again, One Flight Down, Nightingale, The Long Day Is Gone, 8,5 out of 10
While some songs do peak my interest, there's a lot that's just to the point of being obnoxiously noisy. Still the songs that did stand out are quite good. Standout tracks: Teen Age Riot, 'Cross The Breeze, Hey Joni, Rain King, 4 out of 10
I did not know Steve played all instruments on this, that makes it so much more impressive! The songs are pretty great, concise. have distinctive vocals and a great melodic approach. Standout tracks: While You See A Chance, Arc Of A Diver, Slowdown Sundown, Night Train, Dust 8 out of 10
Great renditions of classic songs. A testament to the legend Johnny Cash was. Enjoy this one from time to time! Standout tracks: The Man Comes Around, Hurt, First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, In My Life, Danny Boy, Desperado, Tear Stained Letter, We’ll Meet Again 8 out of 10
Epic musicality!! What an amazing band this was! From the fantastic, theatrical singing and performing of Peter Gabriel, to the jazzy powerhouse pounding of Phil Collins, to the sublime musical soundscapes of Hackett, Banks and Rutherford. I adore this album front to back. Standout tracks: Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe), Firth Of Fifth, More Fool Me, The Battle Of Epping Forest, After The Ordeal, The Cinema Show 9 out of 10
Lately, I’ve been going down the rabbit hole with Radiohead and related projects. And this is a great album, albeit far from their best. Standout tracks: Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box, Pyramid Song, You And Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out, Dollars & Cents, 8 out of 10
Cool upbeat record with a lot ofd memorable hooks! I need to listen to this band more. Standout tracks: There Goes Norman, Hypnotised, Whizz Kids, The Way Girls Talk, My Perfect Cousin, Tearproof, Nine Times Out Of Ten, Girls That Don’t Talk, 7,5 out of 10
Maybe I should have watched the movie to better enjoy the story and music. But still it's not that bad, it's pretty good music to have on in the background. There's a kind of mysterious vibe to it and there's some good drum / bass interplay. Standout tracks: Playground Love, Cemetary Party, Dirty Trip, Suicide Underground 7 out of 10
Very pretty pop songs with a huge hook and focus on melody. Her voice is like an instrument itself and smoothly glides through the harmonies. The music itself, feels basic, but written for Adele to build upon and let herself take the show. The string arrangement on some of these songs are great too. Standout tracks: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), When We Were Young, Remedy, Water Under The Bridge, Love In The Dark, All I Ask 8 out of 10
Pretty strong debut from Lenny Kravitz, who plays basically every instrument. And he does a pretty great job at it. I've known some of these songs for most of my life, but never bothered to check out the whole record. It stays for the most part in the same vein, and that's okay, but it didn't really wow me either. And it would benefit from a better mix. Standout tracks: Sitting On Top Of The World, Let Love Rule, I Built This Garden For Us, Fear, Mr. Cab Driver. 6 out of 10
Lou Reed was one freaky dude, but I think his solo output is far superior to The Velvet Underground. While his music is still very psychedelic, I feel it's more streamlined and works better! Definitely one of his best works. Standout tracks: Vicious, Andy's Chest, Perfect Day, Walk On The Wild Side, Satellite Of Love, I'm So Free 8 out of 10
Never heard of this band!! Cool blend of Rock, Electronica and a dash of folk. They remind me a bit of My Morning Jacket with some Radiohead influences. Definitely gonna check out their other releases! Standout tracks: Assessment, Lion Thief, Wonderful, Out-side, Liquid Bird, Simple, Pure For 8 out of 10
Very impressed by this! While I liked the popular songs from this, diving into it, made me appreciate her music more! Standout tracks: Talkin’ Bout A Revolution, Fast Car, Across The Lines, Baby Can I Hold You, Why?, For My Lover, For You 8,5 out of 10
Okay, this was a great musical journey! Very, very impressed by this album. It might be a bit long, but it's so, so good! And what a great roster of musicians present on this album. All together it makes for an incredible timeless record, one I will definitely come back to! Standout tracks: Penitentiary Philosophy, Didn't Cha Know, Cleva, Booty, Kiss Me On My Neck, Bag Lady, In Love With You, Time's A Wastin, Green Eyes 9 out of 10
Nice album, very melody driven and received a huge commercial success. While only 3 members, their sound is pretty big. I especially like the blend of their voices. Standout tracks: Take On Me, Train Of Thought, Hunting High And Low, Living A Boy's Adventure Tale, The Sun Always Shines On T.V., Love Is Reason, Here I Stand And Face The Rain 8 out of 10
Very eerie record! But Robert Smith is a genius. It's a band and music I kind of need to be in a certain mood for. But it was nice to dive into it and discover some other songs outside of the fantastic A Forest! Standout tracks: Play For Today, In Your House, A Forest, M, Seventeen Seconds. 7,5 out of 10
Solid metal album, and a fantastic drummer on this record! The songs are very catchy and Halford sounds great. Standout tracks: Rapid Fire, Breaking The Law, Grinder, United, Living After Midnight, The Rage, Steeler 8 out of 10
Fantastic album, with perhaps their most biggest hits. While I liked most of the songs, I could do with the barber quartet style songs. Standout tracks: Death On Two Legs (Decicated To...), I'm In Love With My Car, You're My Best Friend, The Prophet's Song, Love Of My Life, Bohemian Rhapsody 8,5 out of 10
Legendary band, but they're a one trick pony. Ace Of Spades, Overkill, Bomber and Motorhead are all great songs but kind of boil down to the same stuff. The band deserves the credit, but it's not an essential live album, in my opinion. Standout tracks: Ace Of Spades, The Hammer, Overkill, (We Are) The Road Crew, Bomber, Motorhead 8 out of 10
Such a strong debut! I never dove into UB40's output, and I loved this one. Very good performances throughout, thought-provoking lyrics, and great production! I feel this could turn for a great summer album this year! Standout tracks: Tyler, King, Burden Of Shame, Food For Thought, Madam Medusa, Strange Fruit 8,5 out of 10
Super diverse album. A gem in the 2010s of hiphop. I've spun this album so many times already and love it to death. Frank is a great composer and this album is his magnum opus. The second half is where it's strongest songs are. Standout tracks: Thinkin Bout You, Sweet Life, Super Rich Kids, Crack Rock, Pyramids, Lost, Monks, Bad Religion, Pink Matter 9 out of 10
Cool groovy album! From the more upbeat funky songs, to the more laid back, mellow ones. Enjoyable stuff, and flies by rather quick. Standout tracks: Green Onions, I Got A Woman, Behave Yourself, Stranger On The Shore, One Who Really Loves You, You Can’t Sit Down, Comin’ Home Baby 8 out of 10
I struggled with this album, not gonna lie. I like Sex Pistols to some extent, but this is more challenging. The back half of this is significantly better. Standout tracks: Public Image, Low Life 4 out of 10
Very beautiful folk, melodic album! The harmonies are fantastic as well as the compositions themselves. There's just something special about these songs, they're very soothing in a way. Standout tracks: Sun It Rises, White Winter Hymnal, Ragged Wood, Tiger Mountain Peasant Song, He Doesn't Know Why, Your Protector, Blue Ridge Mountains, 9 out of 10
Great foot stomping songs! This dude knew how to rock the place up. You can feel the fun they had while making these songs. While the songs are good, infectious and fun to listen to, I'm glad the record isn't much longer. Standout tracks: Tutti Frutti, Can't Believe You Wanna Leave, Ready Teddy, Slippin' and Slidin', Long Tall Sally, Oh Why?, Rip It Up, She's Got It 8 out of 10
What a fantastic album! Great musicality and love the blending of their voices. It’s a kind of balance between their first upbeat, joyous albums and their later more introspective ones. Standout tracks: A Hard Day’s Night, I Should Have Known Better, If I Fell, And I Love Her, Tell Me Why, Can’t Buy Me Love, Any Time At All, I’ll Cry Instead, Things We Said Today, When I Get Home, You Can’t Do That, I’ll Be Back 9,5 out of 10
Very chill, groovy album that flows along smoothly. The mix is pristine and the songs great to vibe in the back. Standout tracks: Nights Introlude, Pipes Honour, Stars, (Man) Tha Journey, Cruise (Don't Stop), Rise, Gambia Via Vagator Beach 7 out of 10
Wow, this is a diverse album! The first tracks don't give away anything for this album Some of the biggest hits of the 80's and listening to the album in full makes me appreciate it even more! Very fun listen and will for sure remember this album. Standout tracks: Welcome To The Pleasuredome, Relax, Two Tribes, Born To Run, The Ballad Of 32, Black Night White Light, The Only Star In Heaven, The Power Of Love, 8 out of 10
These guys rock! Huge energy in the songs, can imagine it was even better live. And the softer songs work great too, the closer is perfect! Standout tracks: Blister In The Sun, Kiss Off, Add It Up, Prove My Love, Promise, To The Kill, Gone Daddy Gone, Good Feeling 8,5 out of 10 These guys can rock! Huge energy on the album, can imagine the songs are even better live! And the closer is perfect. Standout tracks: Blister In The Sun, Kiss It Off, Add It Up, Confessions, Prove My Love, To The Kill, Gone Daddy Gone, Good Feeling 8,5 out of 10 Standout tracks: Blister In The Sun, Kiss Off, Add It Up,
These guys come storming in with the first songs. Musically pretty good, but nothing that's been done better elsewhere. It's nice music when it drops on, but I don't think I'd became a big fan of their output. The lyrics are super cheesy, and I can't really dig Justin Hawkins singing. Just fun music with a dumbed down feel to it. Standout tracks: Black Shuck, I Believe In A Thing Called Love, Love Is Only A Feeling, Friday Night, Love On The Rocks With No Ice 7 out of 10
Samplework is excellent and the production/mix is great! There's an underlying tension throughout most of the album, and it gives the songs a certain darker/sinister vibe. The songs have good driving drumbeats and the different vocals work great! Standout tracks: Never Let Me Down Again, Strangelove, Little 15, Behind The Wheel, To Have And To Hold, Nothing, 8,5 out of 10
Very strong country album. She has a great voice and rounded up an amazing band. The musicality and harmonies are off the charts! Standout tracks: Bluebird Wine, Too Far Gone, If I Could Only Win Your Love, Boulder To Birmingham, Bottle Let Me Down, Sleepless Nights, Coat Of Many Colors, For No One 8,5 out of 10
I can see the appeal, but it's not that much of a standout record as i thought (hoped) it would be. Still pretty good, but worlds away from bands I like more. Standout tracks: The Wall Street Shuffle, The Worst Band In The World, Silly Love, Somewhere In Hollywood, Oh Effendi 7,5 out of 10
What a weird, interesting record. Definitely not something I particularly enjioy. But I guess there's a group of folk who can dig it. Standout tracks: none, really.. 3 out of 10
Such an eclectic, mesmerising album! With a huge scala of sounds and genre directions. Will definitely need to listen more to keep unraveling more of this interesting album! And what a beautiful ending with the short instrumental The Whole Point Of No Return! Standout tracks: Heaps Of Sheeps, Maryan, Free Will And Testament, Alien, A Sunday In Madrid, Blues In Bob Minor, The Whole Point Of No Return. 9 out of 10
This album is such a jam. Love all the different genres combined! I do need more listens with it, because there's so much going on. But on first listen it clicked immensely! Standout Tracks: Movin' On Up, Don't Fight It, Feel It, Higher Than The Sun (Higher Than The Orb Mix), Come Together, Loaded, Damaged, Shine Like Stars 8,5 out of 10
As a drummer, this is already way up there for me! It's so groovy, not just the drumming and percussion. You could sample bits of every song, and it's been done a lot. It's not a groundbreaking record, but definitely good and a lot of fun to listen to! Standout tracks: Apache, Let There Be Drums, Bongolia, Last Bongo In Belgium, Raunchy '73 8 out of 10
Relentless, punishing, in your face, brutal. I forgot how many times I listened this record. It has been very formative in my appreciation of music and metal in general. Altar Of Sacrifice into Jesus Saves is chef's kiss This album is such an important one for me, but also music in general! Just a fantastic album! I wish the bass was more audible though. Standout tracks: Angel Of Death, Piece By Piece, Altar Of Sacrifice, Jesus Saves, Criminally Insane, Reborn, Epidemic, Raining Blood 9 out of 10
One of my favourite songwriters. Beautiful album with lots of dark twists and pretty turns. Great voice and a very good band to lift the songs to a higher place. Standout tracks: Into My Arms, Lime Tree Arbour, People Ain't No Good, Brompton Oratory, There Is A Kingdom, (Are You) The One I've Been Waiting For?, Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere?, Idiot Prayer, Far From Me. 8,5 out of 10
Interesting record, though not really for me. I find some enjoyable tracks, but half of the album flew by and didn't capture me. Standout tracks: Requiem, Tomorrow’s World, The Wait, Primitive 6,5 out of 10
This album rips! Arguably the heaviest Bowie got on his songs. But it's also quite psychedelic. His band is great too on this album. The songs have an edge to it and some double entendres worked throughout. Standout tracks: Watch That Man, Aladdin Sane, Drive-In Saturday, Cracked Actor, The Prettiest Star, Let's Spend The Night Together, The Jean Genie, Lady Grinning Soul 9 out of 10
I'm still discovering Bob Dylan's catalogue. But this, this is fantastic! The electric and acoustic side are both very strong. And the lyrics are so cleverly well written. Excited to dive into Bob Dylan's music! Standout tracks: Subterranean Homesick Blues, She Belongs To Me, Maggie's Farm, Outlaw Blues, On The Road Again, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream, Mr. Tambourine Man, Gates Of Eden, It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), 9 out of 10
This record is far from a new one for me. I follow Nick Cave's works almost religiously, and this is no exception. This work, is in a way more sombre and morose compared to some of his other albums. Musically, it's so beautifully written, and lyrically, well, Nick Cave is a wordsmith. This record, broke me down quite a few times. It's one that's grown to become special to me, but it's a difficult listen at the same time, given the events that preceded. But for sure a special album that deserves the recognition! Standout tracks: Spinning Song, Bright Horses, Waiting For You, Sun Forest, Galleon Ship, Ghosteen, Fireflies, Hollywood 8,5 out of 10
Discovered his music a couple of years ago, and got quite hooked. Just a really laid back vibe throughout the album. Beautifully lush instrumentation and a great characteristic, storytelling voice. There's a bit of a more tense feel to a few songs, that I'm not too keen on. Standout tracks: Jim Cain, The Wind And The Dove, Too Many Birds, All Thoughts Are Prey To Some Beast, Faith / Void 7 out of 10
Maybe my enjoyment of Hip Hop and Rap is a bit unfair, especially since I'm no user of drugs. I feel these guys definitely write the music to be enjoyed under the influence, not using myself, I just can't relate and connect with the lyrics. That said, the DJ is impressive and a great sampler. As for the rest, it wasn't really grabbing me. Standout tracks: How I Could Just Kill A Man, Hole In The Head, 4 out of 10
What a great, densely layered album! There's a huge amount of joy throughout this album. It's a great work by an amazing artist of the times. Very eclectic with loads of influences on display. Standout tracks: Let's Go Crazy, The Beautiful Ones, Computer Blue, Darling Nikki, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, Purple Rain. 9 out of 10
I thought these names sounded familiar! Never listened to this album and it sounds like a long lost talking heads relative, which makes sense seeing those involved. It's a very groovy sounding work, goes in a lot of different directions, but it works very well. Standout tracks: Wordy Rappinghood, Genius Of Love, L Elephant, Lorelei, Booming And Zooming 8 out of 10
Huge kick of nostalgia, but that being said. I go in honestly and try to listen more critically. The mix is glaringly atrocious unfortunately. But it's pretty enjoyable, albeit quite mediocre in musical performing and lyrics. KISS was and always will be a spectacle to see live, but listening their albums is quite a chore. Standout tracks: Detroit Rock City, King Of The Night Time World, Sweet Pain, Beth, 5,5 out of 10
Another album I listened a lot back in my youth. Jack White is a national treasure, and Meg White is well, she was there. Hearing this today, it's aged reasonably well, it's a weird album, but far from too weird. But The White Stripes have for sure made some better music than this album. It's enjoyable though! Standout tracks: Blue Orchid, My Doorbell, Little Ghost, I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) 6,5 out of 10
What the hell! Never thought I'd see the day I'd say that I like Aerosmith!! I should've checked this out way sooner. I actually dig Steven Tyler's voice on this album. And the production is ace. Great basswork, catchy guitars, and Joey Kramer is very underrated! Solid Rock & Roll, front to back. Standout tracks: Back In The Saddle, Last Child, Rats In The Cellar, Sick As A Dog, Nobody's Fault, Get The Lead Out, Lick And A Promise, Home Tonight. 9 out of 10
