kiivaalbumi, koostuu kahdesta pitkästä yahtzee biisistä shh/peaceful ja in a silent way. taivaltaen... biisien tunnelma luo. ei tehdä musiikkia nykyään samalla tavalla........ biisien nimet kertovat paljon...... rauha. EI KOVAÄÄNISTÄ AINAISTA PANKUTUSTA! vaan hiljaan... puhaltaa rööriin... vaikka jaettu kahteen albumi on kyllä ihan yksinäinen esitys, parempaa puoliskoa vaikea ainakaan yhdellä kuuntelemalla valita..

1st listen, blind : i like it but i feel stupid that i don't "get" it: right now im just vibing with how the instruments interact with each other

Really really liked this. Very cool. The way it all resolved at end of the second track was stunning. Good work from Miles

This one blew me away! Obviously the man is a legend but I had no idea how accessible some of his work could be - I thought it was all crazy free-form Jazz but this was carefully considered and beautifully put together. I listened to it with a coffee when doing my emails and it was perfect in that setting - experientially it was perfect and for that i would have to give it my first 5 star but I know that isn’t objective so it gets a very strong 4.

Damn this is good. Early jazz fusion that served as a prelude for a rapid expansion of the genre in the 70's. Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, The Crusaders, even Chuck Mangione and George Benson; all had notable contributions during the era and easy enough to hear the influence this Miles opus had on their sound.

Not one’s favorite Miles; it seems almost anti-tuneful at times, though it’s also exceedingly thoughtful and interesting in its commitment to explorations (some of which sound borderline lazy) and resolute quietude. The communications and exchanges feel nearly tensile, the passing of the solos of such control and understatement. Side 2 just glows with vibes: Miles and McLaughlin flickering in and out early; Zawinul and Shorter pointing and dousing each other at the dozen-minute mark, and the beautiful, beautiful ending. Just exquisite, even its near emotionless neutrality – a listener's feelings may shade to mournful or joyous, but always in a restrained sort of way.

The legend that is Miles Davis! For almost a year now, I’ve been wanting to buy a trumpet but keep talking myself out of it because I’ve absolutely no need for one. But it would be cool though, wouldn’t it? Right? Please? Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Shhh / Peaceful Well holy macaroni. I thought Herbie Hancock was wild for having an album with only 4 songs, and along comes Miles Davis with only 2. A two-song album. If you’re used to standard chart topping music, that’s a pretty gosh darn unusual thing to see. The album is still 38 minutes long so you still get just as much bang for your buck, don’t you worry. Both of these very long songs were just so very good. I was walking through the cold, woolly hat on with headphones over the top, and the composition of everything, but especially the trumpet, warmed me up inside like a shot of whisky. Jazz usually doesn’t click for me, but this was fantastic.

It's not my favorite album by Miles, however it's one I'll go back to.

+1 for the intro/outro on In a Silent Way. Mesmerizing.

8/10 F.t.: Ssshhh

Not my bag but clearly an exceptionally talented musician.

This is different from other Jazz albums I've listened to so, I appreciate the experimental aspect of it for its time. I was instantly hooked from the beginning but, not so much towards the end.

softer/electric experimental side of Miles is amazing. Each track feels like 5 different songs but with rhythmic, thematic and tonal consistency so it's not as if he just lumped an album into one song. Uses space really nicely. Doesn't showcase his trumpeting enough though - 5 star for me is Nefertiti and Kind of Blue (obviously). I also think the album cover is sick Fav: 'in a silent way' (but i loved both tbf)

Miles is amazing, this album is really good, it's not my favourite genre of music, but it's an enjoyable listen, and the talent on display is amazing.

silk smooth

This isn’t my favorite Miles album and I don’t think it’s his best work, but I respect it for being very experimental. He tried new things on this album instead of playing it safe like he had on the previous couple albums and it payed off with Bitches Brew and On the Corner. Not my favorite, but still incredible. 4/5

Very interesting and experimental jazz album. While this isn't my preferred genre, I enjoyed the album. Best Songs: NA Worst Songs: NA

Fusion confusion, but a great album.

I will always 5 star some Miles Davis

Stunning and lovely

Probably not Davis’ best work, but still very good.

One of Myles's most accessible albums, played by some super musicians

It’s great for what it is

Very atmosphere

Good fucking jazz.

love itttt

Très apaisant et intéressant. Novateur!

Very creative for the time, love his work and this is some early stuff.

I consider the title track the birth of Weather Report. Love hearing Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul play in space with no chart restrictions. Miles was ahead of the times.

Fun and groovy, experimental in places, definitely the complete opposite of what I expected going into it.

Jazz-Legenden-Status wird sofort deutlich, late-night

Realaxing

Great!

Absolutely incredible work. Never heard this before but this might be one of my favorite Miles Davis studio albums.

I do not listen to Jazz to much. But this sounded fresh

Waking up to go to work with this album was lovely

Easygoing and experimental are not a well combined duo. But for me this album was just that. It wasn't an explosion of sound. It was a well built boat on a quick flowing river.

Shhh/peaceful is a chill and good track. Not a huge fan of the change ups from the 2nd track. Brother said “no smooth jazz in the house” when I was listening while getting ready. 🤣

Classic Miles.

Post-rock allerede i 1969? Bra i hvert fall

Took me a couple of listens but I think I might be beginning to enjoy this. I think.

Miles Davis' first venture into rock/fusion. I haven't listened to this album in years. I love the crystal sounds of the guitar, keys and ride cymbal create together. Sounds Like: Miles extends the concept of vamp on a few chords to the next level from what he started on Kind of Blue and adds very subdued rock flavors Standout sections: "Shh/Peaceful": the beginning until Miles plays takes me to another plane, the defiance of holding b2 over the bass and how the other musicians participate "In A Silent Way": the tutti jam during solos hits hard

This was cool as hell

Jazz poderoso.

Some really nice, spacy jazz. Enjoyed this quite a bit.

Smooth and easy to listen to; love the changes in tempo within each song.

Such a great record. I can see how it may have been different and new and perhaps controversial at the time. To me, though, it’s just an enjoyable jazz record I could put on while reading a book, having dinner, turning up loud and really listening to.

"What's your favorite track from the album?" "Shhh." *whispers* "What's your favorite track from the album?" It was a lovely coincidence that I started my Miles Davis journey with Kind of Blue not two weeks ago, and then got to experience this great and controversial transition to electricity that happened a decade after that album. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't like it. I keep waiting for that jazz album that I'll hate, but this wasn't it. I love the funkiness added with the electric pianos and guitar. I really thought it was a proper fusion, giving it an unmistakable contemporary (to 1969) sound. I did prefer Side A to Side B, which I found a little draggy, but I certainly did enjoy the whole thing.

One of the albums that changed music. Miles' incorporation of electric guitar and electric piano into his band essentially creates fusion and does the previously unthinkable. I personally believe that the influence of Betty Mawbry on Miles at this point is massive. She introduces him to rock musicians, changes his wardrobe and expands his thinking about what music can be. Surprisingly, Miles first foray into fusion is meditative and exploratory. The loud funky explosions of Bitches Brew and On The Corner are yet to come, but this first album changes everything. Teo Macero's editing is (as with those later albums) pretty astonishing in itself.

Better than expected, definitely liked second track more. This is the amount of Jazz I want to listen to, and then take a break.

I like this. I saw it flash up and thought 'Oh.....Jazz'.....but it's soothing and really positive imo. I'm not knowledgeable about Jazz but I think what they are trying here was really brave and paved the way for a lot more to come. Reading Wiki it was the first Fusion album with elements of electronic, rock without the jazz swing and I think it really works. Put this on and chill........

A nice chill album with good drums and the horns bounced very nicely

Float, float on. Pretty impressive construction here and some neat transitions.

This was pretty good though I didn't really recognize any of the music. 7/10.

two twenty-minute tracks lol. This album feels straight freestyle jazz. Not the biggest jazz fan though I can appreciate it for what it is.

This was very easy listening, and absolutely my jam.

I absolutely looooove this. I can't believe it's only two tracks. And they're both 40 mins or so and it flew by and felt like 2 mins to me listening. I never listened to Miles Davis with purpose before and I do find some of the other tracks more stressful but this album is just beautiful to me.

Wow I actually really enjoyed this and may have redeemed my Miles Davis faux pas of just not liking it.. I was pretty pissed listening to this on the way home from Will's birthday but it made an impact.

Great jazz fusion album. The album has only two songs (both with 19min). I loved the first one, but it took me a couple of listens to digest and enjoy the second one. Will definitely listen more of Miles Davis.

8/10, Davis definitely perfected jazz fusion with later releases. Yet as a first foray however, this shows a precocious level of competence and confidence of vision. Electrical striations dance around Miles while he's breaking in feverish licks on Shhh/Peaceful. In a Silent Way broaches mournful melodies before descending into a whirlpool of strumming, electric tensions before an all time great rhythmic break at the 13 minute mark. We then return to the contemplative afterwards, calmly bidding adieu with a coda and final moments of quietude. An album worth popping in on a productive Sunday afternoon

Interesting, can hear some Krautrock origins in the fusion arrangements

Soothing songs

Great album!

Chill jazzy background music. I dig it.

not usually into jazz but I really liked the ambience of this.

Just a classic. Nothing to special. I like that.

Shhhh/paceful

I admit this is the first time I ever listened to Miles Davis. I learned two things. One, he is damn good. Two, I still don't know jazz. It's like giving me a sample of wine and asking me to swirl and smell and judge. I don't really know. I knows what I like and I likes this. But it's hard for me to judge on a scale. I did particularly enjoy the different segments in In a Silent Way (segments a bit too subtle for me in Shhh/Peaceful). It's also pretty cool how much a trumpet can stand out, especially contrasted against a low pulsing backdrop.

Helped le a lot during math revisions

I liked it, not too screechy

It was solid but my jazz exposure is lite and therefore I’m not able to compare it well. I thought at the best it was very nostalgic feeling.

2 numbers, each entrancing! Really like "In a silent way" -- it's the peaceful one to me, while "Shh / Peaceful" has that push 1/16th note rhythm going hard the whole time, which makes the title ironic, but the trumpet does bring a peaceful layer over it.

I'm a novice for jazz, but this one is a no-brainer as far as classic jazz records. Haven't listened to a lot of Miles, but with the help of music streaming services, this will change. A nice way to spend an hour in the afternoon!

It's like every episode of Hillstreet Blues in my ears.

Only two tracks so it's hard to give this a fair ranking. I liked the second one better, but both are really good. Nice and relaxing, but interesting at the same time. 1st song is a 4 and 2nd song is a 5. That's easy math: 4.5 stars.

Lots if work is put into it. Never listen to jazz, so well done.

Jazz album with two long jams that are broken up into a few parts on each album side. Miles Davis is great, not big on jazz personally but it is an excellent piece of music.

I had to take some time with this one. Yes, I'm inviting that dread phrase "rewards repeated listenings." But this is not an album that generates an adrenalin rush. It is an album that requires a more patient approach. The warmth of the album took me two playthrough to get. But when it did, it hit me like a heatwave. Likewise, the playfulness and the intricacy. I shall hold off on giving it the full five stars, but it's definitely at least a high 4, and I reserve the right to amend that in the future. Speaking of which, as I have now rated 50 albums, I'll do a bit of a tidy-up and give revised opinions on certain albums. Ella Fitzgerald - The Gershwin Songbook: raised from 3 stars to 4 (the very first album I received, and a terrible choice for a first album, being three hours and such. I can accept I was unfair due to algorithmic misfortune.) Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III: dropped from 4 stars to 3 (the second half really doesn't work, though the first half rocks like a bastard.) Cee Lo Green - Cee Lo Green... Is The Soul Machine: dropped from 4 stars to 3 (To Pimp a Butterfly is a better, more interesting album, and that merits a three. Also, I'm so tired of the gangster posturing. You're meant to be a soul singer, not a drug mule or whatnot.) Dire Straits - Dire Straits: raised from 1 star to 2 (I wanted to give it a kicking, and I still do, but it can't be compared to something genuinely abysmal like Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.) Elton John - Madman Across The Water: raised from 2 stars to 3 (I admit Elton John isn't my bag, but I can appreciate why some people go for it. Also, the album has the same faults as Led Zep III, and I gave that three stars).

¿Qué hacía mal Miles en lo musical? Poco, aunque yo todavía de jazz no controle demasiado. Es precioso, es que no le pudo poner 'peros'

Miles is probably my least favorite of the iconic jazz giants, but this is him at his best.

Jazzy, mellow, dit kan je de hele avond op repeat op de achtergrond zetten.

Groovy

I love Miles Davis

I want more jazz

Good listen. Only 2 songs for an album though

Too dumb for fusion Jazz. I didn’t dislike listening to this but as usual I don’t feel like I really know what is going on and a lot of it feels like just meandering improvisation. Presumably as brilliant as the jazz heads say.

There's never been a musician quite like Miles. This is a showcase of just that: It's clearly a transitional piece but is no less canonical for it. I'm partial to music which turns harder one way or the other, and the first side of this record stays on one harmonic plane but also doesn't attempt a studio skronk-out. That makes it less than perfectly dynamic as a recording, but all the electric touchstones are there. Shhh fades out and the title track, another great piece of music, emerges. The players emphasize their chops most during the middle section of that second track, but always keep things restrained. And thus they get to something unexpected: a combination of jazz and rock that becomes something "classical".

A quite pleasant jazz album

Strong 4 or weak 5. Ian recommended a year or so ago and Jess couldn’t get into it. Now, everything is different

Incredible

Felt like there wasn't much to 'chew on' during the album, but I recognized and liked several recurring phrases, and generally enjoyed the listen!

Not a full album

First time hearing this. Insanely impressive. Recorded in one session according to Wikipedia, unreal. Was somewhat surprised to hear electric guitar, but this is a bit of a rock crossover album it seems. Miles’ work on the trumpet steals the show, it’s like listening to how a hug feels. and whoever is on sax is also incredible.

I dig it

I'm not much into jazz, but this was great.

What great music! And what a nice surprise, to find a Miles Davis album I never heard before!

Really nice and peaceful. I don't normally "get" classic jazz, but Miles Davis seems to be an exception.

Very expertly crafted, hypnotic, yet not too repetitive, excellent for setting a mood. The solos are sexy but not overly showy, and the texture is thick with cool.

Extremly comforting and relaxing

Experimental.. fun... thanks

In a silent way 12/10

really good, the cymbals at the beginning had me groovin at the pool

very good and ambient

In a Silent Way sounds a bit like "Taps" at times to me. Not generally a jazz guy, but this is great.

Great album, I'm not really into Jazz, but this was fantastic to listen to.

It's Miles freaking Davis. It's great. He's truly one of the most purely talented and emotive musicians ever and this pair of long form tracks highlights his ability to adapt to shifting times (first track dabbles in jazz fused with the "space music" that was being explored by composers and some early ambient/electronic pioneers at the time and a second, more traditionally blended jazz-rock track). It's not his best work sure, but it's still beautifully composed, expertly played jazz. The man can't disappoint.

Very good

Would give a 4.5 if I could

Not something I'll spend much time on but it's obviously great.

Mesmerising. Experimental. Not as immediately accessible as Kind of Blue to my ears but he takes you on a journey and spits you out feeling renewed. All in the space of 30 mins or so. This one’s staying on the list. The future may come back and tell you it’s a 5.

Jazz jazz jazz

Total pimp move to only have two songs on an album. This is my only feedback

To be honest, this Miles record felt a lot more satisfying to me than Bitches Brew. It's clear he's pushing the edges of what qualifies as jazz with some interesting guitar work, but the structures just work a lot more for me. At least from my current vantage point -- I once again reserve the right to change my mind after spending more time with both.

jazzy! two songs takes 45 mins!

Great album, very enjoyable. It's amazing how much variety there is in Miles Davis' discography. This one is one of my favourites, I like the longer compositions and relaxed atmosphere, reminds me a little of sun's jazzier stuff

oooh - nice - love me some Miles Davis! and 2 tracks...i assume side A and Side B are just a single track on vinyl...so cool

His first jazz fusion album. Better length than Bitches Brew but not as inventive hence just shy of 5 again

I've not heard this one before. I really like it, and an amazing lineup, particularly on keys.

Mmmmm Pow. Nice. Suuuuuuperb.

bitches brew lite

Really good. Second track is stronger. 4+

I thought this was a really sick jazz album. It was so moody and emotional, loved that.

A banger, but maybe the longest banger ever

I enjoyed it

Oniric and relaxing record from the master of jazz

Love Miles Davis

I like it a lot but it’s not something I could listen to all the time.

Love the guitar on ‘in a silent way’ - in reading about this recording, Miles and the guitar player could not get on the same page and the tracks they used were the ones he played when Mikes told him to “play it like a novice” - guitarist was John McLaighlin

Ah, that's the good stuff right there.

Awesomness.

Brings me back!

was alright, nothing riveting. But worth listening. Jazzy and soulful.

I really like this album. The musicianship is brilliant. Not always an easy listen but there is a lot of stuff going on. Definitely best experienced with a set of really good headphones to immerse yourself in.

Really good

I dug this album. More listenable to me that some of the more ambling jazz that Miles has done.

Dig it

Love miles

Relaxing and enjoyable.

guitar, rhodes, upright, organ, drums & trumpet. Lots of breathing room. Not dominated by Miles. Extreme panning as was popular back then. Drummer seems hooked on the 16th hihats.. gives a kind of Lalo Schiffrin Dirty Harry feel. My favourite parts are probably on the 2nd track where the band breaks down into an almost ambient vibe.

2 tracks. Now that's commitment!

Dense 9/10

Calming for the soul

A beautiful, mellow soundscape. Not dominated by Miles' trumpet, but is controlled by his mood and vision for our to arrange an ensemble.

Instrumental Jazzy thing. Not bad. Studying music really.

I’m not a huge jazz guy but you can’t deny miles Davis’ brilliance. Besides, this is some top tier background music

7.jul 2026. 2.01am its jazz like it was ok prva bolja druga malo provlacenje kroz blato vibes

There are moments of In A Silent Way that are excellent, but too much of this sounds like elevator music. The songs just kind of meander Favorite Song: In A Silent Way

Not at all what I was expecting when I saw it was Miles Davis. Enjoyable, and very dreamlike (particularly the title track). But ultimately, not enough consistency to get me fully engaged.

Good album.

what a vibe for my chemistry study time :D

Enjoyed it all the way through, but there were not any parts I specifically wanted to relisten to

This album is not my absolute go to, but Miles Davis's technical mastery is on full display in an album that helped make 40 minutes disappear in mere moments at work today. All in an all, it's a pleasure to listen to a master work, and this is definitely not the muzak/elevator music some comments claim.

This was really nice to knock out a bunch of focus time work. I like the change of pace toward the end.

I like the start of this journey. It felt familiar, yet new. Like I had experienced it before but hadn't given it the attention it deserved.

Honestly, for just being two tracks at least it kept me interested throughout. Will never listen to again but it is solid background music for working.

Late 60s jazz. His first electric record. Fusion. Experimental. Some atonality that can be jarring.

Cool as a sort of proto-ambient album. I'm not a huge improv jazz guy, so most of this strikes me as just fine, but I didn't mind it broadly as being sort of intentionally background music.

In a Silent Way was pretty decent for jazz. Very approachable, the songs carry you with them as they progress and evolve. It feels warm and inviting, and not off-putting in any way. I'm not a jazz guy, but I enjoyed my listen. I dont know if it's enough to put it at 4 stars but for sure in the 3.5 range for me.

Not a fan of jazz, but it was decent.

- 2 In a Silent Way Has relatively magical vibe in the beginning and at the end, trumpet solos in the middle. I feel like the song constantly changes its mood, which gives additional layer of tension. Shhh/Peaceful More active one, tempo is faster, mood is slightly more major thorough the song. Both songs’ve got synthesizer line which is slightly unusual for 70s? Duration 18m/19m

Hmmm. I have been pretty forthright in my disdain for jazz, but you know what? I actually enjoyed this. It’s not as freeform or interpretative as some other stuff, and it entertained me. Am I becoming a fan of jazz?!

Just discovered that I might like jazz

Amazing shi but the songs r long can only be played in specific circumstances ykwim

Pretty good, but drags a little.

I kept going back and forth between liking it and thinking it was kinda boring. Not terrible but a bit heavy on the jazz part of jazz fusion.

502/1089 - The ABA forms don't mesh well together mostly because they are too similar (7th chord modal jam, 7th chord modal jam in another key). Good players however. I really don't find Miles Davis interesting at all. Then again, I guess someone had to add electric instruments to jazz.

A pretty good album, both songs we a nice relaxing listen.

Je connaissais pas, je pense que ça peut être sympa à écouter en mode chill ou pendant des révisions.

A really nice album. Would buy

Very calming and relaxing. Got a lot of thinking done to this album. Both songs had their good moments. I dont know about sitting through the whole 3 hour album of complete sessions though. 5.5/10

Jazz fiilistelyä. Sopii jonkun tekemisen taustalle. Ihan lopussa ihana meditaatio. Albumilla on 2 kappaletta mutta se kestää 38min. Ei niin silent shhh kuin albumi väittää.

An album of just 2 songs, that has merit, but I do believe one of them to be great, while the other is not to my particular taste. Overall, the music is very bright and unique, but yeah as an album I don't know about that.

Electric period jazz; ambient jazz; album based on jazz rock fusion, but very accessible.

Second side was way more interesting

Cool! 3.5/5

Miles Davis again? I just had Miles Davis like 2 weeks ago… okay, well. Sure. It’s fine? It’s just never going to be inspiring to me…

enjoyed the format of 2 songs with two very different vibes

Yeah, side two has a very cool vibe. Repeated listening will reward you.

Decent

I have never really listened to jazz so this was a new experience! The first piece reminded me of someone walking around at night, just as the sun begins to come up. The first part of the second song felt like someone reaching a resolution, comfy in the confines of their bed at night. Very cinematic album, very moving album cover. Gave it 3 stars - not really my kind of thing, but I can see why it is a great in its genre.

Good jazz? Check. Innovative at the time? Check. Am I going to listen to this album again? I don't think so.

(got two jazz albums back to back) interesting enough, would not be mad if i was stuck in a lift and this was playing. i like the second track more

К сожалению, альбом не запоминающийся: мелодии красивые и необычные для фьюжна, но очень сложно слушается. Исключение — вторая половина второй композиции, необычная вещь, напоминающая Formentera Lady группы King Crimson.

I don't know enough about jazz to know why this is good, but I'm glad it's here

I usually hate jazz but this was actually ok

618/1001 2026.05.20 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

nice little ambient 2 parts album, might have a historical significance but i personally wasnt that much into it

Two weeks after Bitches Brew, I get served this album. What a difference. Much easier on the ear, but I’m still not and probably never will be a jazz enthousiast.

Solid background jams

Música de ascensor pero bien

2.5, but I’m in a generous mood. I just can’t believe this is jazz that I didn’t hate! Unlike some other Miles Davis records, I could actually find a groove here. And unlike other Miles Davis records, wasn’t just background dinner music. Kind of felt like the soundtrack to an exciting chase scene.

Not a whole lot to say about this one. Fluid, meditative, sometimes even sedated. Great solos, great rhythm section, just about what you’d expect from a Miles Davis track on the more gentle, subtle side. It’s a stretch to call this an “album” despite the length, but I still enjoyed it. Only giving a 3 as it didn’t blow my mind the way other Miles Davis albums have (bitches brew…) but that’s not to say it’s bad by any means.

I appreciated the second track a bit more than the first, just preferring the instrumentation. The guitar gliding over some of the more subtle instruments like the keys playing a melody on loop or the drums fading in and out - that all was quite lovely. I don’t have much to say on this one. I think I’ve been more impressed by other Miles Davis records, but this is no slouch. It will always blow my mind how long these recordings go on for. How on point all the musicians had to be. 3/5

mysterious

Not quite my pace. But seems like a solid album.

It's chill. I wouldn't listen to this randomly, but it feels like music they'd play in an elevator. Not saying its bad, but it just gives those vibes. I honestly was a bit bored. But I can see why it got good reviews in other plataforms. Now im on the second song. It's more my style, and I like how it is. I would listen to the second song when I am in my bed half asleep and wanting to relax. It so soothing. Almost fell asleep in french class when I was listening to this. It gives "I finished the quest and now I am recalling all that happened. Ok no its not boring, forget the begining of this. There's like a journey to this. You get lost in this music. The jazz is so calming, yet says a story. And the electro fusion is very cool. I get why it was controversial tho.

It was okay! Good background

Obviously very good- I'm just not a jazz girl

I want to like jazz more than I do. Album is good. Short sweet and well made. I just don’t hear differences if there are any when this is effectively 4 tunes on repeat

John McLaughlin came in swinging on the second track. I love that guy. Idk if The Inner Mounting Flame by Mahavishnu Orchestra is here but like that's a goooood album

There were parts of this I liked and then parts that were a bit too discordant for me. Really liked the brass instruments but I wasn’t a big fan of the electric piano. Would be happy enough to have it on in the background but I don’t think it’s something I’ll come back too. Fav song: In a Silent Way Least fav: Shhh / Peaceful

Really well played stuff. Probably went crazy live

Miles fine, he’s almost not there.

- Nice and jazzy, if a little discordant at times

New to me. I enjoyed this, would definitely listen again

This was new to me and I enjoyed it a lot. Might revisit.

ta bueno para hacer turno en farmacia pero nunca lo descargaria

Do ya like jazz?

This was decent, although it put me in the mood for some jazz fusion so I had to follow it up with a little “ye ye de smell” from earlier in this excersize.

Impressive that it was recorded over one three-hour session. More impressive that the first track was 18+ minutes of improvisation over essentially one chord. I guess that’s the point with this style. And I guess I liked some of this. Definitely preferred the 2nd track to the first. Not a terrible listen. But…

Overall I wouldn’t say I was overly captivated by this. The first track felt sorta lacking, but liked the second one more, was def more of what I’d expect from Miles.

Not sure I loved this but a decent listen. Biggest stand out to me is the drummer on the first track. Dude kept that thing going for 18 minutes!

I like this more than Bitches Brew. A lot more. Still not my tempo, but I will give Miles his flowers on this one. 2.5/5

Very chill, great in the background or dedicated listening.

I don’t think this was a boring album, but I wasn’t moved. I love the cover, I love that it’s two tracks. But it didn’t stand out to me. Rating: 5.5/10 Favorite Song: shh/peaceful

Very chill. Transported me to a fancy bar in the 70s with neon lights

Enjoyable. Didn't like Miles on other album. Wonder if this would change with my mood

Added the first song to my playlist. Second piece didn’t do anything for me.

i’m not like… a musician so i can’t speak to that aspect of this but i don’t think i listened to it at the right time. it’s pretty and tranquil but maybe just not for me. fav: shhh / peaceful (was hard to split these tracks up fsr)

nao eh ruim mas nao curti muito

Jazz has always been a struggle for me. I found nothing to like or dislike here.

Didn't love it. I don't think it's anything special. I wouldn't listen again. Ummm yeah it was fine.

Good Album, not my typical listen. I did enjoy it but honestly didn't feel like its my type of music. Kind of hard to listen to by itself. good background music. I do appreciate the instrumental though. Just not my usual

I forgot I was listening to album.

no soy fan de canciones sin lyrics y menos si son tan largas pero it was fine para mientras trabajaba. loved the jazzy notes, especialmente la tranquilidad al puro final del álbum.

Its ok as background music.

"In A Silent Way" is my favorite including the reprise. I usually don't listen to jazz so this was a nice change of pace. It really helped me focus on my work. I enjoyed it.

One song per side? Experimental rock\jazz fusion. I'm generally not a modern jazz fan so we'll see how this goes. The first song is always just about to begin, not quite ever getting past the threshold. This song is perpetually the journey and not the destination. The second song\side sounds like the world waking up. Beautiful music to yawn to.

Oh this is REAL jazz.

It was jazz.

I liked it, I couldn’t stop thinking about Whiplash which is a good thing. I really really liked the first song, but I didn’t love the second as much.

me lembrou bastante cymande, achei uma vibe legal

Not quite my pace. But seems like a solid album.

Surprised to see it’s only 2 songs. It at least managed to keep my attention longer than the other instrumental albums so far. 6/10

Dan was correct, this was good - 3 I could kind of see how others may not like this one as much as other records from Miles Davis

no me ha gustado mucho, me esperaba algo de voz.

Yes ok

I enjoyed side two more than side one. Thought both were good not great.

2 songs 38 minutes are we having a giggle josh would love this

Nice bit of relaxing, background jazz that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Apt title. Useful if one is meditating.

Me alegro de haberlo escuchado!

Haunting Jazz. 2 songs - 38 minutes - kind of weird. Kind of Blue was more my speed I suppose.

Relajante jazzisto

Meditative jazz Favourite track: In a Silent Way

Absolutely amazing to sleep to. 3/5

Jazz fusion pathfinder album from Miles

Jammin'

Did not like this one nearly as much as Birth of the Cool, but it’s still solid. Felt like I was playing Sim City 3000 the whole time. The whole album is basically two long songs, almost sounded like improvised jam sessions, which is par for the course for jazz I guess. Not a bad album by any means, I’d just rather listen to Birth of the Cool or Bitches Brew over this one. Solid 3/5

Demasiado instrumental, agradable pero no algo que me llame la atención, demasiado relajado

재즈. 가사가 없다. 좋긴 한데 현대인이 듣기엔 평범함

Bueno pero repetitivo

Super interesting, but probably won’t listen again.

Instrumental album, not many notes. Nothing crazy to me, pretty good to play behind Roblox 6/10

fun listen, not always reaching for this kinda music but i enjoyed

It was a nice experimental album that I just turned on, but there were some points where it was just not very pleasing to the ears

Too much at once for me

Shortest album?

This album is a smooth ride. Intricate melodies, interesting textures and a deep atmosphere. Miles is always a treat to listen too.

Real jazz artists are like those chess hustlers in the park. Their mastery is unreal and fascinating to witness. It’s an art form that I’m glad exists Now that that’s out of the way I really don’t want to listen to it in any situation I can think of.

Very chilled

Pretty much any jazz album is an instant 3-4 for me. This was good, but didn’t do anything to me to make me want to bump it up further

it's fine as far as instrumental goes but it's more jazzy than I'd usually go for

coollll

7/10 - some great jazz, simple with only two tracks

Beautiful and I appreciate it but I can’t say it engaged me entirely. Probably a me problem because Miles Davis is the goat.

definitely not the type of music I would normally listen to, but it was enjoyable. for the most part, a good soundtrack to walk outside to.

A 2 song jazz playlist that prolly just gives off a bourgeoise or an established feel while you multitask. Fits in well as a good background score.

Nice music to work to.

It was alright, probably would have helped splitting the songs up into multiple chunks, as there are parts that I like much more than others in the same song.

The perfect background music. I did zone in and out slightly.

Expected a bit more from the legend, I guess? More energetic or what not. Eh, big disappointment.

I've learned many interesting things from doing the 1001 albums list, one of which is that I like jazz less than I thought I did. But this is a definite improvement on Kind of Blue, sounding more like I feel jazz should: varied, interesting and unexpected while you appreciate the musicianship on display. But, like The Grateful Dead album I heard a couple of weeks back, can I really imagine myself sitting and actively listening to two 20-minute tracks of it? And the answer is still no, not really.

I can recognise the masterful playing but I have to admit that I struggled to enjoy very much of it.

it was chill. nothing more, nothing less. good if i want to think

Smooth but I wouldn’t say it was anything special

3.5. Thinking of making a hard pivot at 42 to be a jazz guy.

The tiny selection of random jazz albums on this list is still basically pointless, but this is my favorite Miles Davis.

Tjill og næs

Tvö lög, 39 mínútur. Geggjað.

it was fine. I liked when it slowed down and got a little more aethereal.

If I was really into jazz I'm sure I would like this, but jazz is something I have a very limited understanding of.

238/1089 parts are giving The Last of Us’ score. not sure how to rate this when compared to lyrical music which i generally prefer or instrumental music for media where intention/feeling is easier to interpret but it was nice 59/100

For jazz, fine
