As 80s as it gets. Worth a listen but probably not a second.
Very Bowie-ish, just not as good
I would never call myself a fan, but it’s hard to deny how good this album is
Probably would have liked it if all the songs weren’t 90 seconds or less
A bit too show-tuney for my taste
The whole was much bette than the sum of its parts
Maybe if I had been in the right mood this could have been better, but as it was this was mediocre at best
The nadir of generic 50s music.
I was expecting to like this more than I did. It was generally unremarkable.
Undeniably the best Cure album
A solid album all the way through with a couple of hits to lift it above the noise.
A sort of cross between the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel, but not in a good way.
Not available but also doesn’t sound like something I’d like.
Not their best album, but still enjoyed it
Early Beatles is not good.
Fine but very forgettable. If I heard one of the songs again I would not recognize it.
It’s no Violator, but still a very good album
Not a big Wu-Tang fan, but once every 20 years it’s enjoyable.
Very mellow background music
I like a few songs, but overall not a big fan
A cross between the Cure and Bob Dylan. Very mellow, but not very memorable.
Perfectly fine for what it is- I just don’t really like country
More a loose collection of singles than an album. Either way, not my style.
Very ahead of its time, but still not very good.
Effectively the girl from Ipanema as a 45 minute long song.
Maybe if they just picked the top 10 it would have had a chance.
It has potential but I just can’t get into French rap
A sci-fi movie with no dialogue.
Groove is in the heart and a bunch of songs just like it
The extreme misogyny was bad even in the 90s. As an adult it definitely taints an album I once loved.
I have never liked the Who. This album did nothing to change that.
Coldplay has definitely grown on me over the years
It was good, but as a purely instrumental album it’s missing something
Certainly not my favorite Beastie Boys album, but still good
A nice change of pace for a hot summer day
Fine but completely forgettable.
Decent, but not very memorable. The songs all last about a minute longer than they should.
It seemed like it had potential at the start but it got worse, not better
Mellow hip hop- a good driving album
An obvious 5 if there ever was one
British 70s punk. Better than expected.
I’m not seeing the genius of this album
I have never liked the who. This album does nothing to change that.
A few very good songs, but the rest was underwhelming
It was fine, but no songs stood out.
Five seems like a stretch, but I love AC/DC
Not their best album, but they’re all great.
Started strong, but ended weak
It was fine, but not sure what made it list-worthy
Surprisingly good for a genre I don’t like
I like some Neil Young, but this album was a bit sleepy for my tastes.
Not sure how this made the list. Obvious White Stripes and similar copycat just not nearly as good.
Would have been better with fewer slow songs
Do you like Jazz? Sometimes, and this was a solid entry in the genre.
All his best songs on one album
Sort of a big band version of bob marley? Maybe not for every day, but as a once off it was very good.
The intro was the best song. After that it was just mediocre 00’s fare.
I get why people love it (and it’s definitely his best album), but just not my jam.
Very mellow, but it works if you’re in the right mood for it.
The gold standard for jazz. I just don’t like any jazz enough to give it a five.
Just plain awful from start to finish.
The instrumentals had potential but the vocals were beyond terrible
Feels like the soundtrack to a Bond film. Decent, but nothing to keep me coming back.
It had potential, but was much too slow for me
It was fine, just not very memorable
Meh. It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely didn’t hook me at all.
Not a country fan, but this was kind of good.
A cross between Radiohead and Sting? A few good songs but a few weak ones too.
Probably wouldn’t have liked it if I weren’t already a fan, but it was a fun concept. Just a little too heavy on the Load/Reload albums.
One of the greatest albums of all time
He has a few songs I like, but a whole album is too much
If you like one song you like them all because they all sound the same
Good for what it is; it’s just not my genre of choice
Pretty good, though it probably would have been more impressive in its day before lots of imitators
I was holding out hope but the moment they started signing it was over
It has been a while since I’ve listened to this, but it mostly holds up
A fantastic album from start to finish
Very underwhelming 90 rock. Not bad enough to warrant a 1- just unremarkably bad.
Surprisingly enjoyable on the first listen. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but for now I enjoyed it a lot.
I’d really like it if they stopped pushing the Who on me- they’re not good. Also, live albums don’t really belong.
I would either start to really like this or really hate it after a few listens- just not sure which. But on the first pass it was certainly not terrible.
A bit too much Metallica on this list, but this is my favorite album of theirs, so no complaints here.
A good album for when you want to feel like a bad ass while mowing the lawn
Trying too hard at something but I don’t know what
Good, but not particularly memorable
Surprised I had never heard this. Overall pretty good.
Chuck D sure has a lot of grievances.
Good background music for a dinner party?
I like Johnny Cash but I don’t think live albums generally belong on the list
Expecting Red Red Wine but instead got a surprisingly good 2-tone/reggae album
Far too much 70s/80s British punk albums on this list. They all sound pretty much the same.
A sleepier version of Sheryl Crow? Definitely a miss for me.
Better as an album than as individual songs. Decent but not great.
Decent, but a bit too sleepy and experimental for my taste
Not sure if it’s a criticism or compliment, but for an album I’d never heard, I felt like I recognized a lot of the songs.
The gold standard for dad rock
Good as background techno but nothing to lift it up beyond that
Undeniably a Queen album, but clearly not their strongest
A slow Peter Gabriel-ish 80s album.
I’m not qualified to differentiate between good and bad jazz, but I liked this.
Ok, but not particularly catchy or memorable.
The soundtrack for the villain in a New Orleans-themed musical.
Decent overall, though so songs drag on longer than they should
Neil Young has many songs I like; none of them are on this album
This is a weird one, but an enjoyable deviation from the usual.
Not their best album to me, but it’s still great
I forgot how much I enjoyed this kind of music.
Certainly not their best album
Based on the description I was expecting to like this album- I most definitely did not.
Very 90s sound- it grew on me over the course of the album
Better than expected for an early Beatles album
I enjoyed it more now than when it first came out.
Decent instrumentals; terrible lead singer
An ace pitcher who lost his fastball- good, but not what he once was.
I get the vibe they’re going for, but it’s a miss for me
More country than I expected; it didn’t help.
I was optimistic early on, but it just never got there
Now that is a proper Bowie album.
The title track is a good song- the rest is largely Beatles filler- ok, but not memorable.
A quick 10 songs in 30 minutes, but solid all the way through
I remember being so excited when this album came out only to be wildly disappointed because it wasn’t nearly as good as the first two. It has aged ok, but still a distant third.
It grew on me and I made it through the whole album with no skips, so that’s clearly a win, though not something I’d ever listen to again.
Not as good as his non-solo work, but still good. Not super different than late White Stripes, but not quite to that level.
Standard reggae- good but nothing elevating it above the crowd
Just an hour long 60s jam session.
Much better than the other Common album on this list.
A good chill vibes album, though it does get a little monotonous by the end
This was not good. Not specifically bad enough to warrant a 1- just generally unenjoyable.
An odd, very mood setting orchestral album. Enjoyed it but probably just the once.
I knew the hits but had never heard the full album.
The title track is decent; the rest of the album is similar but worse.
Much more of an 80s ska band than I had expected
A great album with several hits to put it over the top
I have never disliked Elvis Costello- it’s just not something I would listen to on purpose.
It was just a bit too much to get into.
I can appreciate it for what it is, but it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable listen.
If it were a score to a movie it could be good- as a stand alone album less so.
There’s a reason she’s as big of a star as she is, but the style gets a bit repetitive for me over the course of a full album.
As a longtime ska fan I feel like I’m supposed to love this, but I just couldn’t
A solid album with a few standout hits.
Son of a preacher man is a great song; the rest is very sleepy
Classic soft rock. I recognized a lot more than I expected, but not in a good way.
Complete and utter garbage- just noise that makes you ask if the CD is skipping only to realize it’s not a CD.
Then it’s are fine but not my jam; the rest does little to elevate it to something I’d want to listen to
Couldn’t find the whole album anywhere, but what I could find was decent but not great.
I was optimistic, but this is a bridge too far for me.
I remember this being all the rage back in the day. It still holds up well, though more as a change of pace than anything else.
Overall not great, but the hits are enough to pull it up to a 3
Pleasant but not very memorable
Not sure how great this album is, but it well encapsulates the sound of that genre/era
The hits are great, but some low end filler too.
60 psychedelic / like old Pink Floyd, but not as good
I enjoyed the fast paced dance tunes- the slow ones weren’t my jam
Not an old timey country music fan, but a lot of very recognizable songs
