Reviews (page 8 of 14)

What a sweet sweet album. Jungleland was a new find for me, wow I loved it.

Cinematic.

This album has great production and instrumentals. The songs are truly beautiful. The vocals aren’t exactly my favorite, but still complement the songs well.

In my Springsteen top five, for me Born to Run still holds up after all these years, but Jungleland is the true pinnacle of the album.

One of the best ever to do it. This album isn't his peak but it still slaps

Enjoyed more than I expected.

Eight tracks! Do one, Kanye.

Amazing album that had some great early hits that launched Bruce.

The boss brings it, this might be my favourite Springstein album.

When I was younger I really didn't like Bruce Springsteen's music, but I think it has gotten through to me slowly over time, and these songs hit me pretty good now. Some heavy hitters here really - 10th Ave Freeze Out, Born to Run, Jungleland... The saxophone solos are one of the things that would have turned me off in the past, now I find them quaint.

Prima album!

Bruuuuuuuuce

Great album with some classics On it. BRUCE IS ALWAYS SO BELIEVABLE WHEN HE SINGS AND always sounds like it is just the way he talks!

Classic Americana. I think everyone has heard the title track and Thunder Road.

Good Album. Amazing Songs. I loved how the album was structured. Thunder Road as an overture, than the big one born to run and on the end, the emotional peak, Jungleland. I simply love the saxophone solo's.

LeviBANGER

Cinemascope at 33rpm.

solid. I am not a huge fan, but can respect it.

Noch nie bewusst gehört! Schon n besonderes Album.

chris dusseld tes commentaire commencent serieusement a m'agacer, 4/5

So many of the elements of music I live seemed to have been born here. It’s bombastic and enormous and energetic and feels important and meaningful.

If The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle was an accidental miracle, Born to Run was an intentional masterpiece. It declared its own greatness with songs and a sound that lived up to Springsteen's promise, and though some thought it took itself too seriously, many found that exalting.

A cracker! Evocative, emotive, stadium Rock 'n Roll. This album just screams USA! Favourite tracks: Born to Run & Thunder Road.

Solid Springsteen. Hated Jungleland

Great album. Never really liked Thunder Road all that much but also hadn't listened to it much and after this album I like it a lot more. Born to Run is just a phenomenal song and my favorite of Springsteen's. Already Saved: Born to Run Saved After Listening: Thunder Road, She's the One

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Thunder Road, Backstreets, She's the One, Jungleland Cutting Edge: Born to Run Overall Notes: While I can't say I fully understand the insane hype for this guy, I will say that this is the best of this type of album that I've ever heard. Was going to give it a 3, but that felt wrong so I'm bumping it up to a 4.

It's okay. I like meeting across the river. and Jungleland

Bruce Springsteen is the main guy here but the E Street Band really add so much to the overall compositions. They keep things from getting too boring, too formulaic, and elevate Springsteen with sweeping instrumentals that allow for a fuller sound with more personality. Springsteen brings his own, and the E Street Band give it more ground to stand on. Helluva band. Anyway, Springsteen basically IS heartland rock, and he's very much in this sound. Undeniably solid album.

I really like this album. It can be tough to review since the songs are so well known and played so much. Some haven't aged as well as others, but Thunder Road and Jungleland will always be rock anthems.

I definitely preferred this to Darkness On the Edge of Town and see why it’s considered the best album by Bruce Springsteen. So many of these songs are classics and it seemed like Bruce Springsteen at his best. Although Bruce Springsteen is still not my absolute favorite it was still a great album. Favorite songs: Night, Backstreets, Born to Run, Jungleland Last favorite song: Thunder Road Light 8/10

Nämä Brucen levyt ovat aika tasalaatuista suorittamista. Thunder Road ja Born to Run olivat ne kohokohdat.

it was a blur

Surprisingly I've inky very listened to one Springsteen album in its entirety before this! Liked this a lot.

Sounds epic, definitely needs a closer listen than I can give to it.

Muy personal y bien construído y elaborado. Inconfundible voz

went into this one expecting to give it a 5 but i wasn't blown away by it

This one is pretty cool

Pretty solid. I’m not a huge fan of Bruce’s voice, but there are some really well don tracks in this album. Favorite tracks: “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” “Born To Run,” and “Jungleland”

Very fun

The piano and sax throughout were a dang treat. Feels like old americana, joyful, sad, honest. He’s the boss for a reason!

love this album

Kanonskiva! 4+

Eat song is its own mini story but yet part of a while experience. The writing is superb and the guitar work is excellent. I never got into Springsteen but I can see that wasn't a good thing. This albums is really good. Although over it is short run time, it delivers all it needs to say in the short time. I found that the start was a little softer than the rest of the album but once it gets going it is something that you can just visualize. The story in the lyrics is clear and concise and able to give you an experience that you were almost there.

A classic

Some classics I've heard before that the rest of the album gave some interesting new context to.

Didn’t think I could be converted into a Bruce fan but this album may have just done the trick.

Yeah, it’s good

Fav song: Jungleland Really great album, love the production and sound. Great piano melodies too!

Album was... fine. It definitely felt like a product of it's time in the way he sings. The music itself was really good though.

Nice one! Never listened to a full album by the Boss

Pretty Sick album. Whatever I can tell that a lot of artists took inspiration from Springtein. He's got a very interesting storytelling style and the buildup and release his lyrics have going into the hook is cathartic. Good Album

One of those albums where you're like "Meh, Springsteen", but you're super into it anyway

1975. Key Songs: Born to Run, Night, Thunder Road

It has a sound. Leaves me a bit cold mind

so american

Nice Springsteen album. Not nearly as good as Born in the USA but still solid. Optimistic vibe and good vocals

This was fine I guess.

The single Born to Run is good, but not feeling anything special for the rest. Maybe the mumbled lyrics elevate it?

An early album from "The Boss". Never really digged his musical output... let's hear it... Okay, I guess you had to be young in 1975 to find this music relevant for your life. I was very young in 1975 so I lack a emotional connection to this album. Now, in 2026, it sounds dated. Alas: Not my cup of tea.

Have been meaning to listen to Springsteen properly because I mostly associate him with "Born in the USA" which is not my favourite.

He sounds just like the guy from the bear

I think that his grandiose rock ballad vibe wears thin after a while

Papparock instensifies. Tasapaksua, parhaimmillaan mukavaa, mut ei jotenkin itselle osu.

I respect Springsteen but it's not so much my cup of tea.

Born to Run is very good. The rest is so-so

Pretty awesome record. Born to run the song is an absolute classic for sure. Love it so much. The rest of the album is also solid

Listens: 2 Standout Tracks: Born To Run, Meeting Across The River, Jungleland I don't really know what to say about this kind of music. It largely feels all samey, save for the singles and maybe one other track. Bruce Springsteen is a household name. People are very familiar with his music, and this album seems popular enough, but I really just don't feel anything emotionally when I listen. The music and vocals just don't inspire me at all. It's not bad music, it's just unrelatable and bland.

Good listen! 3.5/5

Good 3, it is Bruce after all.

this ones for you harry

I can get the appeal sort of but I just don't see what's so crazy about it

Songs we all know. The standards that made him The Boss, from the anthemic title track to the theatrical Jungleland. Gotta be honest, though—not a fan of Springsteen's vocals. Everything is a strain, it seems, and his enunciation and lyrics leave you wondering what he's talking about. I guess it's something about the hardscrabble, working-class life of New Jersey.

Ehhhhhhhh

liked two song night & she's the one

bien producido buen instrumental pero aburrido y americano

fave: Night

Decent album overall.

3.5 stars

It's Bruce. Classic him.

This is the third Springsteen album I've heard in relatively short succession, and the weakest. Like all the rest of them, it's fine: I appreciate the lyrical themes but the classic rock n roll style doesn't do much for me.

I don't get it.

I enjoyed this one, had a bit of a boogie

Tenth avenue freeze-out, jungleland and born to run are alltimers. But the rest of the songs is only mid for me.

i mean...i'm sorry, bruce just ain't my thing. i love a few songs, hate a few, indifferent to most. that said, this IS an album that one should listen to before they die.

A grating voice delivered in a grating fashion most of the time. The Boss is often compared to Bob Dylan, and although Bob also has a unconventional voice, Bob is at least intelligible most of the time and has some of the most poetic songs in modern music. Bruce doesn't really either of those qualities on this album. The music itself is actually pretty damn good. It's overdone a lot of the time, but I think the ostentatious arrangements are a choice, not a failing. It's supposed to sound larger than life and grandiose. Everything comes together very well a majority of the time, and Bruce has some really talented folks playing on the album. All in all though, not an album I'll return to.

muy tipico de los 80

Typical solid rock from the Boss.

This is an album that sounds like he is trying too hard. He got better with a mor C&W feel. It’s ok.. 3 1. Backstreets 2. Born To Run 3. Jungleland

Cały album takie 5/10 Pierwsza piosenka to jakieś kurwa 2/10 Reszta ig git Typical soft rock Ameryczka lata 70

Better than Coldplay

A really interesting album that I feel like as proper peaks and troughs the classic single stand out. I born to Rome and then also like jungle land which is 9 1/2 last song on the album little bit about the concept of the album cause it sounds a little bit like a rock opera and I’m also surprised how much Bruce Springsteen‘s only voice sounds like Brown and flowers

Listening to Born to Run for the first time, I can see why it’s iconic, but it really didn’t do much for me. The whole album leans heavily into this romanticized, youthful American dream aesthetic that feels more cinematic than emotionally real to me — like the soundtrack to a ’90s coming-of-age romcom. The production is big and energetic, but the songs themselves didn’t leave much of an impression, and Springsteen’s voice just isn’t for me. I’ve heard plenty of rock albums that tackle similar themes with more depth or personality. Not bad, just pretty mid overall.

I don’t like Bruce Springsteen very much

Sounds too American. And what’s the obsession with piano?

Born to Run sounds like longing feels, gas engines smell, and Marlboro Reds taste.

This one's better than Born In The USA, but there's still lots of yelling in place of singing. The title track is an amazing song, though.

It was pretty good but kind of not memorable but I liked the trumpet and saxophone solos

Solid. 3.9.

I lump The Boss in with U2 in the “Bands/artists that tens of millions of people love with a passion, but I just don’t” category. Maybe it’s the way he sings, maybe it’s way too many instruments in the background (including way too much saxophone), I don’t know, I’m just not a fan of Bruce’s music. I dig what he stands for (Big Lib Energy) and he’d probably be a cool guy to have a beer with, but I thought this album was just OK. ‘Thunder Road’ was the best song, and ‘Jungleland’ was way too damn long. 3/5

It's the beginning of the sound that I think of when I think of The Boss. And like many beginnings, it has it's missteps. Too many of the tracks feel overloaded, trying to cram in too much of the studio sound. I think it detracts from the strong story telling and strange allure of Springsteen's voice. Born to Run

Incredibly nostalgic. The storytelling in this album is great, especially Jungleland. Not complex, but enjoyable. A solid performance from the boss

Bruce Springsteen is one of those artists you always hear about in the cultural zeitgeist of the US. It is a very classic sound and familiar voice. The album was surprisingly heartfelt and melancholy. It was a fun listen. Lots of piano and guitar.

Fin plate.

Another album of the same song. This is a better production though - the brass and piano fill out the sound. It's pleasant enough, but I just don't see Born To Run as an anthem.

Pretty solid. Title track is a banger.

got some good songs on it but not my fav bruce album 3.9

Thunder Road - 4/5 Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out - 3.5/5 Night - 4.5/5 Backstreets - 3/5 Born to Run - 3.5/5 She's the One - 3/5 Meeting Across the River - 3/5 Jungleland - 3.5/5

I actually liked the sax.

Hadn’t really found his sound yet

The title track is absolutely legendary, and "Backstreets" is really good, but the rest of the album barely resonated with me, which shouldn't be possible given the lyrical content

This grew on me. I understand why people like bruce even if I find him one note.

I so very much wanted to hate this more than I did, and I hate it for that. If the E Street Band ever did anything right it’s probably on this record. It’s bombastic and dramatic and ridiculous and laughable and very very occasionally pure rock bliss. And in the middle is this undeniable firecracker, The Boss(?), standing tall with a shit ton of swagger selling some absurd fantasy of American life. Somehow it all works for a song or two. Extra point for getting the harmonica out of the way in like the first minute.

I’ve listened to this album at least 20 times and I just don’t get why people like it. I like a ton of other music from this era, but this album eludes me. I’m giving it a 3 for effort, but I just want to be clear: I don’t like this record.

The title track is an all-time great banger. The rest is fine. I think I'd have a great time at a Springsteen concert but the energy doesn't quite translate to the record for me.

enjoyed it enough to nearly give it a four but I still don’t understand the cult of personality around this guy that said I’d take him over Dylan any day so he has at least won the dudes I found repellent due to their fanbase championship

pretty nice, I think usa is 4 stars and rising 5 and this one maybe 3

Streiteste jeg har hørt

Not typically a Springsteen or anthemic rock enjoyer but I bought into the raw energy in the tracks, even if the songs are a bit repetitive.

Classic Springsteen

2nd Springsteen album I am rating after Darkness at the edge of town. Enjoying the production but lyrically i preferred the first album I listened to.

Not sure id come back to this but it is a good one

Thunder Road 2.7 Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out 3 Night 2.4 Backstreets 2.5 Born to Run 3.4 She's the One 2.5 Meeting Across the River 3 Jungleland 2 Score: 2.6875

I don’t dislike any of this, but I don’t feel any emotion at all, which is somehow worse. The best way to experience this album would probably be after a few beers, lost in a crowd of other drunk people just like you. That would be awesome. By myself on my couch, though, I am emotionless.

Bruce Springsteen is incredibly talented, this album didn’t seem to be my taste though. There were two good songs I really enjoyed but the rest didn’t stand out to me, still a good album though

Really like it. I would like to listen more to bruce

Always been pretty indifferent about Springsteen. Never hated his music nor really got into his stuff either. I'd heard the hits from this album, but the stand out tracks for me were "Meeting Across the River" and "Jungleland." I feel like The Boss and the E-Street band aren't really exploring any new musical ideas composition wise, other than some bomb-ass sax. Its Springsteen's writing and storytelling that has made him such an American staple, and I felt those two tracks really let his writing shine. 3.5⭐️

Its better than the last springsteen album that was recommended to me. But idk, it still doesnt really do anything for me. I wanna like his music but its just not my thing. 6.5/10

7/10 - Even though I’m giving it a more middling review, I’m still thankful that this album showed up. I’ve always thought of Bruce in terms of really strong ProAmerica rock, and while that may be true, I feel like this album showcases good song writing and passion. I think a lot of this album sounds similar throughout but at less than 40 minutes, it doesn’t feel egregious. I would own this album and play it once or twice a year.

I finally figured out the key element to Springsteen songs, it’s the fucking bell/xylophone dings. It’s in almost everything. Plug those little dings with a bunch of 8th note piano chords and a barely in tune vocal about getting out of town and that’s the formula. I guess throw a sax in when you’re feeling wacky. Not a Springsteen guy and this album really sounds like “born to run and a bunch of b sides for born to run”. It’s fine, inoffensive and not long.

Its was good, not my cap of tea

The boss ! Good album but not massively my thing. Bit too bombastic for me

Good album. Not my thing

Objectively this is a great album. Heart and soul and good songs by a good man. Subjectively, ive never really bonded with him and his music. Im sure its a lack of attention on my part, but his gruff voiced, stories for working class america never resonated with me.

What did we do to deserve another Springsteen album? This one was better than Nebraska by a large margin (I should have given that one a 1 or 2) but still not something to I’ll listen to again of my own desire

not my favourite, mostly boring all sounding the same

Some strong songs on here, carried mainly by the power Springsteen brings with his vocal delivery. However even though accompanied by some amazing piano and sax work, nothing feels like this album pulls you back in for further listens - 3.7

some cool jazz

Sure he's the boss, but just not really my style of music.

Pretty fun listen with harmonica and saxophone highlights especially. Doesn't resonate with me and I have a hard time separating it from a lot of the blander music I grew up hearing my parents listening to. Good album nonetheless.

Hello, Bruce, we meet again. Again, this is the wrong type of record to encounter for the first time in a manner such as this. Bruce is one of those guys who make music you have to inhabit to really appreciate. I don't know if I will ever get there. For now, I must respect The Boss from a distance and wait for the day he grabs me.

not sure how to describe music properly yet, but it's a bit too country/white for my tastes. instrumentals are sometimes weird in the best way possible. see why people would enjoy this, though. springsteen's vocals are rich, full, and heavy; pleasant to listen to. album grew on me as i continued listening through the whole thing. thunder road 6.5/10 tenth avenue freeze-out 6.5/10 night 7.5/10 backstreets 8/10 born to run 8/10 she's the one 7/10 meeting across the river 8.5/10 jungleland 7/10

pretty good

Good dad rock energy.

Great Springsteen album

Feely cinematic rock with lotsa’ sax… mediocre.

mid work from bruce

I'm happy for the old biddies, but this doesn't do a huge amount for me.

It was ok. Better than i’d expect :)

This album sounds like a record my dad would show me and then say "you just had to be there"

Some parts are great, I really liked Jungleland. Different type of rock, I am used to more guitars and less piano. But I liked it nonetheless. 3,4/5

Music and instruments were tops, lyrics too low

Amazing story telling, had to really focus on the lyrics to get everything in. However, I did not feel like the music can take me away, but it might be because the album is not really my style. Still very nicely composed songs and album on the whole.

some songs in this I'd revisit and some I wouldn't but I liked it more than I thought I would

Blir litt for svulstig for min smak.

Hørt på solsenga på Granka. Helt okei, litt kjedelig.

Egentlig nesten aldri.

I like Bruce. But I dont wanna listen to a whole album.

Yeah,a legendary album, but way off from my ears …

I fell asleep while listening, so should probably listen to it again… but don’t know if it speaks well for the album anyway

Not bad, but did not impress me at all. It's just not my type of music, reminds me too much of stuff my drunk uncles would play at a family gathering.

okay okay i thought this was the born in the usa album, but I was pretty wrong do NOT come for me. Righttttt not for lmao but I will listen to it if u make me, like right now

Jungleland is the campest song I’ve heard in a hot minute and I loved every second of it.

This isn't as good as I thought it might be.

Although BTR wasn’t my favourite Springsteen album, I did find it very palatable and can definitely see why people went nuts for him at the time. Vocally on this BS is incredible; his voice has a gritty quality to it, but also he sings with so much passion. He wrote every song and was heavily involved in production as well. It’s crazy to think that he was only 25 at the time! There is a lot of brass across the album, and it wasn’t really for me. I found the sax and horns a bit grating at times; they kind of throw off the feel of the songs for me or something. I think they make tracks sound too Christmasy (silly, I know). There wasn’t anything special about the chord progressions across the tracks, but filling the arrangements out with the layers that build up kept it interesting, although, dare I say it, did make it seem a bit cluttered at times

Don't know what it is about Springsteen's music but I'm just not that into it. Maybe I need to spend more time with it. There's nothing about it I particularly dislike, it just doesn't do anything for me. Standouts were "Born to Run" and "She's the One." I think the back half of the album was better than the front. An average 3/5 for me.

Halfway through, not really my vibe

I like everything about the album except Bruce’s voice

There are a couple of well known tunes. The rest of the album bearable

Springsteen did not need 5 albums on here

The boss is great - General feel/ sound of all songs on the album is consistent but I did not enjoy many of the songs on this album.

3 stars, but I love him

I like Springsteen in theory - he writes about the human condition in everyman character-driven lyrical stories and plays straight-up rock. But he's pretty over-represented in music culture and radio during the time I grew up, so I figured I got enough with his singles on the radio. There are a few singles that rub me the wrong way though - "Born in the USA" for instance is repetitive in a way that makes me want to destroy my eardrums with an ice pick. This album triggered two main thoughts: he often sounds a lot like Tom Waits' singing voice, and this music reminds me of Meatloaf. The Boss has a raspy voice and sings mostly in a lower register on this record, so that explains the Waits comparison. Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan from Springsteen's E Street Band later played on Bat Out of Hell, so that strongly bolsters the Meatloaf connection. The music here is very full and theatrical, with sax and horns, strings, piano, and even glockenspiel. "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" has a 50s doo-wop feel. The record has boisterous and confident in-your-face performances and production. It's ingratiating in a way and mostly earnestly entertaining, particularly on the title track which is epic, but Backstreets erupts into a never-ending refrain of "hiding on the backstreets" repeated a few dozen times which brings back those "Born in the USA" flashbacks.

Good but a little over-blown, I can see where meatloaf took his inspiration. Good but not great.

Perfectly fine but all the songs sound the same. The man starts at 11 and has nowhere to go.

I'm not as big of a fan of Springsteen as my dad, but I like Born to Run, and I'm glad that he tries to have some excitement in his songs, compared to some of the recent albums.

It is a fun album, loved the listening 3/5

It was okay.

Solid technique and everything, I just don't have any emotional responses to most of these. Except maybe the title track, and even then There's some good stuff when I can tell the riffs apart (e.g. tenth avenue freeze-out) but the deliberate mixing all into a cohesive wall of sound makes it hard for me to enjoy, I need to hear the instruments and the lyrics Yep I realised the muffled sound is driving me nuts, I'm not coming back to this again EDIT: turns out my EQ settings were booked, it's s bit better now - I may revisit it again so bumping it up to a 3

I always avoided Bruce Springsteen because of his image as an all-American every man. As a Canadian, I just had no interest; I'll stick with my Gord Downie and Neil Young, thank you very much! It wasn't until recently with his criticism against a certain orange buffoon and his criminal circus that I realized he was actually the kind of true American patriot that I could get behind. Born to Run has great songwriting and playing all around, but the big production gets a bit tiring to me. Everything is just so loud and in your face (struggling not to make the obvious joke stereotyping Americans here), which does give the album an urgent feel as it builds to the title track, but it's not something I can see myself listening to frequently. I much prefer the stripped back sound on Nebraska, but overall, I still enjoyed Born to Run

I liked it. It is a very emotional record. I had never listened to any Bruce Springsteen records fully I and can get the grandiosity. It is a personal, deep rooted album made for regular folks. There is something intensely blue collar about it. I think it was great, but I don't think that it is my cup of tea personally.

Pretty average, but sounded good.

Title track is a classic, the rest was a little underwhelming. Okay, but overrated

I want to like it, truly, but it always leaves me feeling meh. For me, the title track is the only one with hooks strong enough that it can elevate beyond Springsteen's terrible mumble style singing. I often find it difficult to relate to the characters and situations he writes about. The best thing about it is the iconic album cover. 2nd best thing about is Clarence on sax. The third best thing about it, is that it is only 39 minutes long, but boy do those 39 minutes feel like they stretch. While it is mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig, it is definitely asking too much of him to try and master out the marbles from the mouth Bruce Springsteen. His only album I prefer is BORN IN THE USA. A bit more relatable to me than this one.

Not bad. Not incredible 3.5

It was alright. I think it's just not my preferred genre of music. All the time while listening to all of the tracks I kept thinking they'd fit in the ending of a rags to riches kind of movie, where the protagonist drives in the streets of the city he used to live in once, recalling and remembering himself. Cheesy. The second to last song at times reminded me of the Baba O'Riley melody which came out 3-4 years prior. The last track is also kind of gearing in that direction of dramatic keyboards, long melodies and well... I thought I was just about done and then the last track is almost 10 minutes. I wanted to be more receptive to this album than I was. Perhaps I'll come back to it another time.

it's like, a fine and pleasant americana-rock album to me. and i get that it's probably considered a classic, genre-defining record, so what i'm saying probably seems blasphemous, but i just don't understand the critical acclaim. his strained voice gets tiresome, the melodies/music kind of becomes samey after the first three or so songs, and i'm not really a fan of the "open road, america" vibe of the lyrics. maybe it's just not for me. the title tracks is great, though. other than that, i'm ok on good ole bruce in 2026.

Mooie volle songs, <3 strijkers

Very listenable but nothing special - I might give it another listen at some point

A reallt good album, I liked Night, BackStreets, Born To Run and She's The One the most.

I'm torn on this. I think it's a high 3, but not enough to rise to 4. There's really not much wrong with the album to be honest, and there are some bangers. I could even imagine scenarios where I might (uncommonly) listen to it, in its entirety. Lyrics are decent. But The Boss doesn't resonate w me like, say, the obvious comparison, Dylan. Also the album rocks hard, but there's a certain theatric/broadway feel to it that doesn't really match my vibe, like the over-the-top musical bridge in the otherwise awesome "Born to Run". This one gets a 3.4 because a 3.5 would round up to 4 and this doesn't quite reach that level for me. But it's a solid album

I think this album is good; it has a rhythm that makes me want to keep listenning, however, there's something about it that doesn't quite grab me

Still not big on Springsteen. That's it. That's the review.

Sam Fender rip-off; oprecht banger plaatje; Thunder Road fave

This is a high 3 stars for me. I really like the production on most of the album, sometimes it gets a little lingering. Lots of Bob Dylan influence with the lyrics and storytelling. The E-street band is really working hard to carry the album.

This album, purportedly his best, confirms what I have long suspected: I simply am not a Bruce Springsteen fan. I find his rootsy folksy jazzy rock boring aside from his voice, which is pretty good, like Paul McCartney on Golden Slumbers. But I tuned out a lot of this album, unfortunately. To me it was on the better side of average but still average.

Ratings: 5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background Sounds great. Worthwhile for the list. I just don't fully connect. Born to run is a certified banger.

Born to Run is one of those albums where the highs are absolutely towering, but the rest doesn’t always reach the same summit. “Thunder Road” is untouchable — a stone‑cold classic that still feels mythic and alive every time it spins. The title track brings that same big‑hearted, widescreen Springsteen energy, and “Jungleland” closes the whole thing with enough drama to fill a cinema screen. Everything in between? Competent, well‑crafted, but for me fairly average and surprisingly forgettable next to the heavy hitters. The album’s reputation is enormous, but the real magic is carried by those three colossal tracks.

Solid album, strong vocals, sometimes poingent lyrics.

Kinda generic rock, but a little slower. Eh.

For me I’ve never really understood the hype with Springsteen there’s a few good tracks on this one thunder road , jungle land and born to run are classics but always felt his voice was a bit middle of the road , although it’s his presence and story telling of his upbringing and the lyrical storytelling is great , Always seemed a little too sax heavy at times the guitars could do to share a bit more of the limelight I’ve always been indifferent about him can appreciate him im not gunna lie in previous albums songs like im on fire , glory days , born in the USA are up there but i dont feel like he draws me in with this album Maybe something to keep listening to and might arouse me in a bit more I won’t give up on you Brucey !!

Favourite track: Meeting Across The River This surprised me, I didn't expect there to be so much instrumentation with the saxophone and piano in his songs, as I haven't listened to him before I just expected something akin to Status Quo guitar rock. Not my exact cup of tea but its an undeniably good record.

Born To Run is a timeless classic, with lyrics and themes that apply to many events happening today. This album feels and sounds hopeful, and its strong messages will forever reflect that.

2026.02.16.

An album for the devoted, which I'm not, but I don't mind it. It's very earnest and very anthemic, and even when it's sappy, it rocks out. An engaging listen, but not one that zaps my particular dopamine receptors.

Most of it sounds like Bruce Springsteen. I really liked Meeting Across the River and Jungleland which didn’t so much.

2.6/5 Second time I've listened to this and while I enjoy it, it's nothing amazing. The first half is solid but the last 3 songs drag for me.

Not my favorite boss album. Favorite songs: Jungleland

2 weekend albums in a row from The Boss. I can get down with that. This is the 2nd out of 5 Bruce Springsteen albums I have rolled, following Darkness on the Edge of Town last Friday. I opened that review stating that Bruce was an artist I knew nothing about, and couldn't name any of his songs, despite hearing about him a lot growing up and knowing how popular he is. Now that one week has passed, I'm substantially more familiar with him now, and I can confidently tell you that I enjoy his music. I can see why he's got 5 albums on here. Nothing has absolutely wowed me yet, but it’s good. I don’t think any of these albums are going to get a 4 or 5 from me personally, but I’ve appreciated both this and Darkness about the same, with Darkness taking a slight edge over Born to Run. While Born to Run is slightly tighter, I thought that per capita, Darkness has the better songs, and a better variety of softer and harder Rock that Born to Run is lacking. I still liked Born to Run, but it was just a little too light for my personal enjoyment. I don’t know if I’m going to make it a tradition to start ranking artists with multiple albums like I’ve done for Zep, but so far while I’ve enjoyed both Springsteen albums, I liked Darkness more. My favorite songs on Born to Run include the title track, “Born To Run”, the Jazz filled closer “Jungleland”, and my personal favorite song on the album “Backstreets”. Based on Spotify listens, I would guess that song is pretty underrated. It’s got a great piano to open with, starts off very light and gets progressively heavier, and ends with Bruce belting one out. It tells a pretty neat story as well. All that being said, it’s got a similar tone to the rest of the songs on the album, while Darkness has more variety. As a whole, I wasn’t crazy about 3/8 of the songs on this album, which is almost half. For that reason, as well as the previously mentioned reasons, it’s going to get a solid 3 stars. Did I enjoy it?? Yes. Would I return to it?? Maybe if it was already on, but at least I’m for sure going to be able to instantly recognize a Bruce Springsteen song out in the wild because of this project. So that’s a bonus. 3 more Springsteen albums to go, let’s see what else you’ve got, Boss.

Eh. 3/5

I don’t get it really. It’s mid.

Felt like this was ok but like a lot of other rockers, Springsteen was putting out albums with a hit or two but mostly filler. Didn’t really resonate with me too much but could see rating higher on another day

Very nice, a couple of outstanding songs, but no wow factor.

My first album in this challenge, so Im still not really open minded. It was pretty mid for that reason for me, not really my type of music

i appreciate it, but not for me

I can see why people like this album. But, whilst theres nothing specific i dislike about it, im just not a particular fan.

Some pretty good songs on this. Enjoyable!

better than most like i bopped my head

Maybe I've matured a bit and left behind some of my contrarian ways, but as a historic Bruce hater, this was ... decent. There were some lows (mids?) but to steal term from my groupmate, there were also some solid toe-tappers

It sounds like a Bruce Springsteen album, but definitely not the best one.

i expected more icl

Not my preferred genre of music but still an interesting album.

Want to hear something blasphemous? I think some of the records inspired by The Boss do blue-collar earnestness better than Bruce himself (namely The Killers' "Sam's Town" and The Hold Steady's "Boys and Girls in America"). But I guess Bruce had to walk so these bands could run. Should've been called "Born to Walk." The singles are so, so good. When the sax dropped on "Thunder Road" I was like "oh yeah, five stars, baby". "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" is probably my favorite song by Springsteen. The title track is amazing. Jungleland is pretty cool too. But, you know, that's what greatest hits albums are for. Sorry, Bruce. Hope "Nebraska" is on this album list, that one's better.

Every Springsteen album seems to have one or two absolutely iconic tracks (Thunder Road & Born to Run here) and a bunch of mumbling pointless songs. The wild swings from greatness to dreck are unlike anyone else.

Cunt fur negotiations

Honestly this is my first bruce springsteen album. Not really my type of music but its cool. ok jungleland was nice, i love a good ballad. musicality is great.

I mean the instruments are great, you can't argue that. Above that, this album is iconic. I came to enjoy the more casual songs over the dramatic pieces. I think his voice fits them better. His voice is like a Scottish dude doing an Elvis impression. Which isn't a compliment. if I could, I'd give this a 3.5, maybe even a 3.7. But I'm sure it'd be a great album to just throw on the record player and listen to it passively.

Thunder Road provides a solid if unexciting start to the album. It is everything i associate with Springsteen, solid blue collar rock. You can certainly hear the influence that Springsteen had on Brandon Flowers’ vocal style in Thunder Road. I enjoyed the addition of brass and keys that come with Tenth-Avenue Freeze Out, however it always feels like he is straining to deliver any vocals that are beyond the more speak singing vocals. Night and Backstreets (that is once you get to the end of the latter) unsurprisingly follow the same formula and are instantly unforgettable. Born to Run is obviously a different fish. Yes it doesn’t stray from the established formula but it finds that sweet spot of magic that elevates it above the rest. Maybe its the fact that the prominence of the synth and brass driving the tune that help carry the relatively mumbling vocals or maybe it’s just a great song but tracks like this make me understand why some people love him as much as they do. She’s the One,Meeting Across the River and Jungleland maintain this more interesting theme and ensure tye album ends on a high note. In particular i think Jungleland is potentially an equal to Born to Run. Overall it’s a 3.5/5 but i think it’s more 3 than 4

It wasn’t that long ago we had another Bruce album, but you won’t hear me complaining. “Thunder Road” is a beautiful song, and I cry listening to it every time. I’ve always enjoyed “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” as well. Then the lull hits for a few tracks, until the title track… I think we all know how masterful that is. But then there’s more lull, until you get to the end and “Jungleland”. A lot of people would say this is Bruce’s best album but, having listened to “Darkness on the Edge of Town” not that long ago, I don’t think it’s as cohesive as that is, and I didn’t enjoy it overall as much. It’s really a 3.5* for me, but alas.

It's only two weeks since the last Bruce album where I said I didn't really like his voice. I stand by that comment. Its alright. I think I liked it better than the last Bruce album but I still don't really get the big deal. I like the majority of the instrumental parts just fine (there's some lovely piano, I particularly like Tenth Avenue Freeze Out for the piano and brass) and I enjoy him as a person, but the singing just doesn't grab me. I'm plumping for a 3 this time as I think both albums were closer to a 2.5, so I'm averaging out. 3/5

👍🏻

My age makes me predisposed to be prejudiced against Springsteen. His music was so ubiquitous in my teen years that burnout was a real thing. Combine that with the fact that there isn’t really anything particularly novel with his music, mix in a little teenage angst, and it was a perfect mix for me to be, unfairly as it turns out, annoyed by his music. For me, part of the beauty of this project is putting prejudices aside and listening with fresh ears and genuine curiosity. I was surprised about how much I liked this record. There is some great, unpretentious songwriting, solid backup instrumentation. Objectively, this a solid rock record. Maybe I just needed to become a dad before I could appreciate it?

Born to run

banger

gen X men ahh music de quoi il yap je relate 0 Nights est quand même hype ça me rappelle les Killers pareil pour Born to Run mais Flowers marmonne moins de mieux en mieux au fil de l'album en vrai

whatever

Solid album.

This was a good album. I wouldn’t say it’s the Bos’ best, but it has the magic that her layers on all his work.

Upbeat & optimistic... would pair well with a long drive on the interstate 🙂

Very good instrumentals. Last half of album very good.

Not bad at all this is actually a 7/10 for me I wish we could have half stars fr.

3 Da boss init

I’ve never had much of an opinion on Springsteen. I like some of his songs generally, but this album didn’t work for me. I didn’t care for it vocally, none of the songs, other than Born to Run, felt particularly strong either. I did like the sax. 3/5

This is #day533 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… here's to my third Springsteen album on this journey. I honestly don't think I can tell this one apart from the other two I've already heard. There are still two more to go, for reasons I don't quite understand. I don't really mind what I'm hearing, but it's also music I'd most likely never approach on my own. That sax always does its thing, though, and I can't resist it. Let it be a 3 out of 5 once again. Looking forward to #day534.

fave Song: born to run

Not my favorite one

39 minute albums seem short these days. Surely you could've squeezed one more song onto side A and still be shorter than the B side :P

Not my vibe, but objectively speaking it was pretty good

Pure boomercore

It's fine but a bit boring

183/1089 Waittt maybe i’m hearing something with Thunder Road 👀 (i didn’t really like Darkness on the Edge of Town so my expectations are low) okayy so i liked that a good bit more than Darkness… maybe i need to go back and relisten to that one now. i feels like there’s more intent here and the songs are a bit more attention-grabbing faves: Thunder Road, She’s The One, Jungleland 55/100
