Rough start to this list since I generally don't like U2.
I thought the album started strong, but overall it was just ok.
3.5 Stars.
My jazz background is in La La Land and Soul, so don't come for me.
-Blue in Green: *turns up collar of trench coat, lights cigarette, and walks out into the seedy streets of 1930s New York*
-Flamenco Sketches: for sippin’ whiskey with a dame who’s no good for you
Okay I like it, Picasso - 4 stars
God, I can’t stand the Beastie Boys.
-Get it Together isn’t so bad, but I think it’s because someone else is on the track.
-Sabrosa is funky, I dig it.
I like the music on some of these tracks, but I can’t handle the vocals. This album ain’t for me. 2.5 Stars
Don’t think I’ve ever heard their music before.
-I’m feeling Mother Goose 🪿
- My God: Heck yeah brother, shred that flute
I like the mix of flute/folk style with classic rock. Not something I’d normally listen to, but it probably does deserve another listen at some point. - 3.5 Stars
This album feels a little bit like a bait and switch. Gimme Shelter goes so hard, then it’s just kind of ok for the majority of the album, and then it picks back up at the end with You Can’t Always Get What You Want. Maybe I’d appreciate it more with another listen. 3.5 Stars
A name I know, but don’t think I’ve listened to before.
Diggin: Love is a Wild Thing, Space Cowboy, Happy & Sad, and Velvet Elvis
I like her voice and I always love a good banjo. I can see myself liking the album more with another listen. 3.5 stars, but I’ll give it a 4 on here for the future potential.
Not overly optimistic on my chances of liking this album, but I will listen nonetheless.
-not the screaming…
-not a huge fan of the vocals, but I do like the music
-love all of me and chicken dog aren’t so bad
-the vocals are either improving or growing on me
- they’re losing me again
-Why is this thing so long?? I thought i was nearing the end and i’m only halfway through?
-it would seem i was listening to bonus tracks? Idk.
This wasn’t great. 1.5 stars
I know and like Greenlight and Liability, but haven’t listened to the full album before.
It was alright, not good not bad. 3 stars.
I lost my notes for this but I did *not* enjoy this. I think I said something about it being to same-y and I didn’t like the guys voice. 1 star.
We listened in the car and technically I have a few songs left to listen to, but it was just ok for me. She does have a nice voice. 3 stars.
Yeaaa good vibes all around. 4 stars.
I enjoyed, it probably deserves another listen. 3.5 stars.
Oo this is very 70s.
Man this is one horny dude.
Groovy man. 3.5 stars.
Sultans of Swing is very good. I can see myself liking the rest of the album more over time too. 3.5 Stars.
The Weight really is a banger.
It’s good, but I don’t see myself listening again. 3.5 stars.
Yes yes, I like this. Will listen again fo sho. 4 stars.
Apparently I wasn’t paying attention during the song about not wanting immigrants in the UK. So while I enjoyed the sound of this album and some of the songs, I have to reduce my rating. 2 Stars.
Not really for me. I liked “Warrior in Woolworths” and “I Can’t Do Anything” the most. 2.5 Stars.
I like it. Not as much as I like the Beatles, but I like it. 3.5 stars, but I’ll round up.
“Tainted Love”, “Where Did Our Love Go”, and “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” are all good, but the rest is just kind of meh.
I like Michael Kiwanuka’s voice and guitar in a lot of these. You Ain’t the Problem, I’ve Been Dazed, and Hero were the standouts to me. 4 stars.
RHCP is hit or miss for me and the majority of this album is a miss. I like the guitar and some of the vocals in I Could Have Lied, but it’s just ok. I can't express how much I hate Suck My Kiss and Give it Away. Under the Bridge is good, but not enough to save this album. 1 Star.
She has a nice voice and I like early 2000s R&B. 3.5 Stars.
I liked the vibes of this album and I’m a sucker for some good banjo. There weren’t any songs that jumped out at me in particular, but I would listen again. 3.5 stars.
She has a nice voice, but this wasn't anything special.
I don’t think I had heard any of these songs before, but I do like Queen. 3.5 Stars
The album cover had me worried, but it actually wasn't too bad. 3.5 stars.
Kind if made me think of Coldplay at times. Deserves another listen as I was a bit distracted. 3.5 Stars
“Psycho Killer” is very good. I also enjoyed “Pulled Up”. 4 stars.
I dig this a lot. 4.5 stars.
This feels like it would be the soundtrack to a grungy, early aughts cybercrime/action movie or a PS1 skating game [positive].
Masters of War feels very relevant still.
I liked the album as a whole, but I particularly liked the intro song. I wish that vibe had carried out through the rest of the album.
I know people really like Elliott Smith, but this wasn't anything over the top for me. 3.5 Stars.
When your mom says “We have The Beatles at home”. 3.5 Stars
Didn’t really like “Rich” through “No No No”. “Pin” isn’t so bad.
“Maps” is great.
I liked “Y Control” through “Poor Song”.
3.5 Stars
I like the vibes overall, but nothing really stood out. 3 Stars.
3.5 Stars - deserves additional listens
3.5 stars. I think it could improve on further listens. I like “Alright” and some of thr other songs towards the end.
Well, that was…something. I’m too much of square for this kind of psychedelic/avant-garde music. 1 star
The perfect voice for an album as tender and romantic as this one. The standout songs for me were Don’t Know Why, Come Away With Me, Turn Me On, and Painter Song. I wish there was a bit more variety and range in the songs, but it’s a solid album overall.
I hadn’t heard of this band before, but I did recognize Our House. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
Not good, but at least it was short.
C’mon, like I’d give this any other rating.
My bad, but bland, which some might say is worse.
There’s just not really anything worth listening to here. She Talks to Angels is probably the best song on the album, but that’s not saying much.
It’s not a bad album, but I don’t think I’ll listen again.
Not really my style, but I did enjoy Going Out of My Head, First Down, and Michael Jackson.
I liked aspects of several songs, but overall most made me feel impatient. When it felt like we should be moving on to the next part of the song, it would just repeat the same sequence again.
Good vibes. I like. 4 stars.
There were aspects of songs I liked, but overall, not a fan.
Not too bad. I like Sunday Bloody Sunday the most. 3.5 stars.
Gee cousin Louis, you're doing real good!
I don’t think I’ve heard of this band before, but I like their style.
Metal isn’t really my thing, with a few exceptions. This wasn’t one of them.
When I think of Black Sabbath, this is pretty much the sound I imagine. I wasn’t expecting a rock balled or acoustic interlude to be on here (“Changes” and “Laguna Sunrise”, respectively), but I was pleasantly surprised by them. Overall, I would say the album wasn’t anything special, but I did think it finished strong with “Under the Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes”. 3.5 Stars
It’s not bad, but nothing is really speaking to me.
I enjoyed this album. Previously I only knew Loser, but I can see myself listening to this album again. At the very least, I’ll listen to the handful of songs I saved on Spotify. 4.5 stars.
I find it difficult to rate albums like this, when they are so clearly inspired by and/or emulating another band, in this case The Beatles. And while it’s not bad, I am more likely to just listen to the Beatles instead of this. Some of the songs do break from the Beatles mold a bit and have a generic classic rock sound, but there-in lies another problem, it’s just generic rock. All and all this isn’t a bad album, it’s just not good enough to stand on its own.
I couldn’t focus on this album, nothing special.
Let’s Get It On is a classic and while I liked the sound/vibes of the other songs, none of them really stood out to me. 3.5 Stars
I don’t think I’ve ever really listened to a Willie album before, but I was surprised by how much I liked his voice.
There were parts of songs I liked and I enjoy Tankian’s singing voice, but overall I’m not fan of metal.
Not my favorite of Missy's, but it was just the beginning.
I didn’t really care for the storytelling/talking singing in this album. The parts that are actually sung are an improvement and, while I did like some of the instrumentals, they overall just felt the same between songs.
So nice, I listened twice 🤘
While I still prefer the original version, I appreciate that they made their cover of Comfortably Numb their own. 3.5 Stars.
Thirteen is the Big Star of this album. 3.5 Stars.
It's not bad, but it was just background music to me. I'm not that into Jazz.
I do like Big Poppa. 3.5 Stars
3.5 Stars (and that half star is mostly because of One)
This album has the textbook sound of 90s pop rock, in the vein of Collective Soul and Dave Matthew’s Band. However, unlike those bands, this album was unremarkable and forgettable.
I get that this album may have been influential or had a new sound at the time, but I think there are better The Cure albums to put on this list.
For some reason I couldn’t find this on Spotify as it’s titled here. However, I did find a self-titled album from 2002 that has all of the same tracks (minus one), but in a different order. The missing song, “O Que Foi Feito Devera”, I listened to separately.
All that being said, I loved this. Excellent vibes all around.
I don’t even have words. This guy out here sounded like a whiny Shaggy, complaining about how nobody likes him and trying to seem edgy by seeing how many times he can say “fuck” and “chocolate starfish”. Grow up.
I like the first three songs, but the rest was kind of boring.
The explanations of how to play the sitar are cool, but it’s not for me. 3.5 stars.
Major ick with that first song. And several other songs, really.
Reduce the tracks on this down to 50-75% of their current runtime and I could vibe with it.
3.5 stars - I liked the lyrics to several of the songs, but overall the album felt a bit repetitive in its sound.
I’m just not that into jazz. 3.5 stars
Since he’s a self-proclaimed Nazi, this only gets 1 star.
To briefly separate artist from the art, I’d say this album is at a 3 for me. I liked Dark Fantasy and All of the Lights, plus some of the samples and featuring artists in other songs. Kanye was probably the worst part about all of the songs and his ego and misogyny are a major turn off.
It’s not for me. I hadn’t heard the original version of Hurt before, so that was fun and I did enjoy it. However, I felt like that song, as well as some others, had issues with the volume. Parts would be really quiet and others would get super loud, I had to keep making adjustments.
The music/instrumentals on this were alright and I even liked some of it, but I just couldn’t deal with the vocals. It was tolerable when they were soft spoken, but otherwise it was giving Cookie Monster and Scuttle from the Little Mermaid. Unsurprisingly, my two favorite tracks from this album were the instrumentals.
Not necessarily bad, but very generic and forgettable.
It’s not bad, it’s just not what I enjoy listening to. I think if it was more of a traditional album with a couple of these thrown in, I would appreciate them more.
Instrumentation: 4 stars
Vocals: 3 stars
Lyrics: 2 stars
Scar Tissue, Otherside, and Californication are alright, but the rest are not great.
Not terrible, but it all sounds the same
