Kinda lost me at "king of the bongo" but I thought this was overall quite enjoyable

Two good songs and then bluuuurgh
Jeff still fresh
Some surprisingly interesting moments early on but the rest of it kinda washed over me
Aside from a moment of questionable banter, this is a good time! Would listen again
So close to a 5 but the last few songs kinda lost me
Interesting in places but not really vibing with the vocal sampling thing here, especially in the first few tracks
Like it was written by 12 year olds, and with nothing musically interesting enough to make up for that
Solidly mediocre
Always love Benny and the Jets and, hell, even the title track, but for me this pretty much fizzles out after that
Some of the lyrics in here made me want to give this less but I gotta admit it's a solid listen
Awful
More dull than I remember The Who being... one of these stars is probably only because of Baba O'Riley
Listened to about a minute from another room and that was plenty. Absolutely not my jam
But I think Albie gives it a 4 🕺
You know what, I'm into it
Probably only gets a 3 because of my very specific Almost Famous nostalgia
YES
For a hot second this was a 3 because I really like Child in Time but unfortunately everything else is a massive bore
Title track very good, everything else less interesting
Feels harsh but I'm never going to touch this again
A classic and a Good Time
Pleasant but dull
Let's just pretend I wasn't enthusiastically dancing to "welfare mothers make better lovers" with my son. That aside, this was a good listen! Albie seal of approval
Probably more of a 4.5, but I enjoyed every song (and so did Albie)
I don't think this is my kind of jazz... feels like the soundtrack to an 80s Disney caper
I put this on in the car and Albie instantly fell asleep and I think I agree with that assessment
Quite torn between a 2 and a 3 here. Couple of good songs but the rest very meh
Bit yawny
Was actually quite enjoying the first few tracks but then it just all got quite boring beyond that
Listened from the other room and that was already too much. Blergh
Oh no I hate this too (sorry Chris)
Kinda lost me at "king of the bongo" but I thought this was overall quite enjoyable
Dull
More of a 2.5 but rounding up because nostalgia
Started off a 4 but ended up more of a 3.5
S'fine
Admittedly didn't get very far into this. The Slim Shady violence shtick wasn't funny then and it's unlistenable now
Bit dull innit
I quite liked a few of these tracks but the overall effect was a bit... dreary?
Imagine just make me think of Gal Gadot now but this is a really solid album
A couple of standouts here but the rest is a bit dull. Foo Fighters dull is quite listenable though
Definitely not for me either
Probably a 3.5 but I thought it just never quite reached the heights of the first track
I didn't hate it but it seemed kinda all over the place and some of it was really grating
I don't hate all of it
I actually kinda liked this! Hectic, sometimes a bit grating, but sometimes great
Stop it with the Bruce now
This was fine I guess, but with a rubbish closing song. I found it hard to pay any attention to this while it was on
Much more interesting than I expected
Probably more of a 3.5, but I really enjoyed this
I don't think I hated this as much as everyone else but it's definitely a one and done
Probably a 2.5 - real conflicted on this one. Wasn't vibing on first listen but picked up a lot more on second. A couple of these songs I really liked. And of course there's **that** song. RIP
Probably a 2.5 but I doubt I'll listen again
1.5 but rounding down for "I think the funky days are here again"
Oh, THOSE tubular bells
This kind of thing wasn't really my jam back in the day but I enjoyed this one more than I expected to
This takes me back to pretending to discover Pink Floyd for the first time as a teenager after actually first hearing them through my parents
All Sinatra is Christmas vibes
Prob a 3.5. Background music, but the very good kind
Fun, and the live aspect is actually beneficial for once. Also toddler approved
A classic, but not 100% bangers
3.5 I reckon
Ewww
Would've been a 5 easy back in the day, but it's still very good even if some of that is nostalgia. This is the glory days of KOL back when you couldn't understand anything they said
Prob a 2.5. I found myself vibing with this more than expected (especially I Can't Stand the Rain) but I'm not about to throw on some Tina anytime soon
Easy
Used to love that first song back when I was a yoof, but I found the rest of the album a bit too murky and unmemorable
Prob this is somewhere between 2 and 3 but overall it's interesting enough to make me generous
Couple of boring songs in the middle there but the rest elevates it. Ditto on the funeral sads front though
Really more of a 3.5 but rounded up cause the hits are still really good
So good, every song is a winner
It was a 2 and then a 3 and then very much back to a 2 again
A bit all over the place, but way more interesting than Steely Dan
Prob a 2.5, but I was bored more often than I was not
It's OK, but the singer sounds like a little goblin man and I can't get past it
It's OK? But I'm not super into the vocalist
Just so not my jam it's unlistenable
See also: the Metallica one
This is so good! Lauryn Hill is amazing
Also not my jam
Probably a 1.5 but I'm feeling unchained l uncharitable. I don't understand Costello's fame
3.5, actually
Some of this is kinda interesting but overall impression is boring. 2.5
Feels like an inferior version of other similar things
I don't hate this as much as the other one
Not my thing but still kinda fun
Heck yeah
Some fun moments, but overall like a less interesting Devendra Banhart. 3/3.5
Very listenable but just a wee bit dull
3.5 I think - started off strong but by the end I was a bit bored
Maybe it's more of a 4.5 but it hit just right
I heard some from the other room and have no desire to seek out the rest
Rating this on the strength of the track listing alone
I reckon David Palmer should do all the vocals
2.5 - not bad, just really bloody boring
3.5
3.5 but I probably won't revisit
Generally speaking, this is not my thing, but for Dolly I guess I make an exception
Enjoyed this more than I expected to, maybe somewhere between a 3 and 3.5?
Some of my absolute faves in here, but sprinkled with some just alright ones
And you're lucky you got that
Love this album, fave Bowie
Better than the last one, but only by a little
Absolutely smashed this as a young'un, and it's still solid
Yawn
Rounding up for nostalgia, I still love this
No
Tuneless vocalists often work for me, but not in this case! Dreary
Not unenjoyable, but honestly they just feel like a bunch of hacks making pale imitations of far better artists. Toddler's review: "Turn it off. Music all gone now"
Deranged, unlistenable, but I respect the weird
I thought it was neat while listening but I will never think of it again
Didn't mind the music, hated the vocal styling. Felt like a weak facsimile of other better singers
If not for the orchestra I would've turned this off immediately, so +1 for that! Stop trying to make me like Metallica please
4.5 I reckon
Prob a 3.5 - not their best but still a decent listen
Some of these songs I really liked but whyyy so many dumb interludes?!
Outside of the two everyone knows, this is dead boring
Confession: I think Nick Drake is pretty but dull
Didn't expect this to be so crooner-y? Not for me
I mean, yeah
Wanted to like this more than I did
Nope
Just couldn't really stick this one out
Cool layered vibey vibes with a few sublime moments. Very surprised this is from the 70s - could easily be now
This feels harsh but I just couldn't. I don't think I would've been into this even during my "punk phase"
TOO STRESSED
Wow these guys really suffered from the "too many bands with similar names" problem
In hindsight, this was not appropriate Sunday night mending a sweater on the couch music
Possibly even a 3.5? Enjoyed this more than I expected to
This is bad even for the supermarket playlist
I can't give that voice not a 4
Yep, I still love this
Loved some of this, enjoyed just about all of it - an unexpectedly good time
3.5 - very into the first track but I found everything after that surprisingly dull/forgettable
I was never a huge Strokes fan but this album is solid and I can't separate the nostalgia feelings of that sound
I had fun
Awful
Started strong, became very meh
3.5
3.5 - 3.75 for the obvious highlights
Probably more of a 3.5, but this makes me want to get drunk and run around
Enough with the Byrds already
3.5. Points for rhyming Encino with "why are you so mean-o"
3.5? Lovely, but so hypnotic I'd only recommend for the commute home (no driving)
I was into the first few songs and then... not so much
Not bad, but for me the vocals are really on the border between listenable and insufferably whiny
Totally unmemorable
Ew
This is...not what I was expecting
I don't really understand why most background stuff like this makes it on here, and I don't know how to rate it. Felt like I was in an 80s fantasy video game
Entirely too much croon for me
3.5, upgrading cause I still have a soft spot for The Warmth. Early 2000s me would be horrified by this rating - I was obsessed with this album back in the day, but the shine has really worn off now. The bigger radio hits are unlistenable
Not a fan
S'fine
3.5 - not at all my usual jam, but I enjoyed this
Blergh
Really liked the first song but the rest was not for me
Gorgeous
3.5 - not my fave Bjork but she's never not interesting
Love me some Devendra
Yawns all round
4.5 - very close to a 5, this one's a goodie that gets stronger as it goes along
Not my jam
I really liked this actually - took a while to get into this not-usual-Beck vibe, but it grew on me
2.5 - a bit too discordant in a way that doesn't quite work for me
I too am annoyed I have to admit to maybe liking Coldplay
Even more boring than I expected
Can't argue with that
4.5
Really into the first couple songs but it kinda lost me a little after that
Not quite the 5 I thought it might be, but a solid 4.5 - SUCH a good debut! Karen O is a legend
3.5
