Destiny's Childholy heck, ladies are talented....... BUT there's a whole lot of typical late 90s self-hating internal misogyny going on here.

Glitter specks of truth and humor shine through the moody, smokey noir. Definitely a guy whose been through things, and is in the middle of another hard thing; the end of his life. Reminded of Sam in the Lord of the Rings : "There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high
Love this album.
Can't believe I've never heard this before, and like that it clearly has 60s influences... but that is only a part of the sonic cornucopia, not the whole thing.
Short, angry, with moments of wtf humor while going after america's commercial culture juxtaposed with feelings of depression and loneliness.
Immediate love! I had heard Fela Kuti before, but not really listened ( which, like??). Fantastic.
Fantastic. Mellow, rich, full, timeless. The cover art completely mislead me into thinking this was more trendy, something that wasn't going to hold up. It's pretty awesome.
I wish I had heard of this earlier. Weird in a good way.
Always thought this was a 70s band.
had never listened to this whole album, but was happy with it.
it's talking heads. unmistakably.
So smooth.
wordsmith. recently saw the movie, so it's a little hard to not picture chalamet singing.
Very operatic, dramatic. RUUN FOR THE HILLLLLLLS RUUN FOR YOUR LI-I-IFE
obviously early Stones, showing they can do what was popular at the time while also adding grit and swagger.
a classic.
Good to listen to. Put this in my permanent collection.
some interesting social commentary with a lot of - maybe too much - sultry vocal fry. might try listening to it again later
GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS (also the first album in almost thirty recs by a woman artist......)
B-52s doing B-52 stuff.
Fantastic!

Delightfully weird and funky jazzy surreal. Obviously lets a number of genres into his soul.
mix of classic rock and new.
great beats...... date rape song wtf
Songs for the working class..... joy, desperation.... trapped but with some glitter of magic
So, I kinda dug this when it came out..... but now when I listen to it, it's super repetitive in both themes (hey....did you know I'm a loud redneck pimp*???) and yelling. *if you have to keep saying it, you aren't. Also..........he was not a redneck, as his father owned auto dealerships, so this guy grew up privileged.
I can see how this influenced a lot of electronic music in the 90s.... bringing a light nature into things while still having a dance beat.
happy.
trange..... definitely felt like occupying someone else's head. Theatrical.
Absolutely outstanding. Listened to Gillian Welch radio for the rest of the day.
he liked horns. not just employing them in music, but also being poetic about them.
Smooooooth
Sounds like classic Aerosmith.....except for that one song that sounds like Led Zeppelin.
This is what 2003 alternative sounded like............... feelings. kinda hippy.
OMG ANOTHER DYLAN It turns out I like his earlier stuff better.
classic AC/DC...... being tough, having women, 3 chords.
Gritty nightlife with glitter fun rock.
Loved this when it came out... still love it. Jeremy - shocking to me at the time - seems to have foretold the rise of school violence/shootings.
beautiful, haunting.
masterfully weird.

Sublime.
surprisingly not like the Beach boys I am used to. depressingly topical even after 50+ years.
Loud Soft dreamy we love this album, always have
he's at his best when he's rocking out joyfully. his softer, slower songs seem like wistful dirges, always accompanied by treacly strings and a disembodied choir who only seem to echo what he just sang.
Glassy joyful weird in a good way.
SO PEACEFUL REFLECTIVE
the first song and title of the album........................................oof Drop the big one is darkly funny
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING THE SMOOTH JAZZ I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED.
