Ramones by Ramones

I didn't like punk much in the 70's. Nothing has changed, all too shouty for my taste.

Pleasantly surprised by this one, not a punk fan but found myself enjoying this. Really good guitar and sax and interesting vocals and lyrics. It won't convert me to punk but I enjoyed it.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Oct 08 2025

Used to own this in the days of CDs, nice to revisit it many tears kater

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Oct 10 2025

This could come in really useful, I was fast asleep after only 7 minutes. An insomniacs dream, if there is such a thing.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Oct 17 2025

This was going well till I got to the last track which hasn't told the test of time. An anthem to coercive control. Still great music.

Private Dancer by Tina Turner

Tried to judge the music and not the artist. Failed. 1 star.

Oct 29 2025

Utter shite.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Nov 04 2025

I started listening to this feeling quite cheerful, 10 mins in I was gloomy, two tracks later I was clinically depressed. Luckily I found the off switch before self harm became an issue but it was close. All in all not for me.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Nov 05 2025

These ladies need to cheer up a bit. They are beautiful, have great voices but the songs are too depressing.

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Nov 06 2025

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this, especially Disc 2. This woman can really sing, she sort of went under my radar, I guess because Britney was so big at the same time. Some of it's a bit weird and self indulgent but by no means the worst thing I've listened to this week.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Nov 08 2025

Sadly Biggie was taken from us in 1997, just a couple of years earlier and he wouldn't have been able to inflict this vile nonsense on the music world.

Blur by Blur
Nov 09 2025

After 2 days of rap I was really happy when Blur appeared today. Then I listened to it, what a disappointment, apart from the first two tracks which I already knew and like, the rest is such a dirge. As a Mancunian I was always more Oasis than Blur in the 90's, turns out I was right.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Nov 15 2025

Funkier than The Four Tops or The Temptations, not quite up to Isaac Hayes, still this is the sound of my youth and gets an easy 5 stars for the memories it brought back to me.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis

I've tried to like jazz for years without success, this didn't help. It sounds like next doors teenager got some instruments for Christmas and keeps on practicing. If I'd paid for this I'd be heartbroken. A solid 1 star with another one on offer if he ever learns all the notes and what order to play them in.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Dec 15 2025
Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause
Dec 22 2025

Astonishing, not by any means an easy listen but I'm glad I've been exposed to it.

Drunk by Thundercat
Dec 25 2025
Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Dec 28 2025

It's amazing that at 15 minutes this is still a quarter of an hour too long. It is a real stinker, some might say it's ground breaking of its' time, not me I think it's utterly shite, lots of noise and shouting, no message, no music, no chance I'll ever listen to this hateful nonsense again.

Jan 29 2026

When I started this project I wanted to be exposed to different things that I had not experienced before, mostly it has been enjoyable and worthwhile. I didn't think I would like this. I was right. Of the 150+ albums I have listened to so far this comes a firm last. There is nothing in this to redeem it. Thank goodness it's over and I never have to listen to it again.

Jan 31 2026

Amazing songwriting, fantastic lyrics, a true poet. If that were it it would be an easy 5 stars, but that voice, Jesus it's awful. Every cover of a Dylan song sounds better than him doing it. I'm less than 200 albums in to this project, wonder how much more of this I will be subjected to.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Feb 05 2026

Thank goodness I've got to go to a funeral later, it might cheer me up a bit after listening to this depressing nasal whining.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Feb 10 2026

This is amazing. The first album in this process that I had to immediately listen to again. I don't often give 5 stars, but I'd give this 10 if I could. Full of pathos, self awareness and fantastic imagery. If all his career was building up to this it was worth it.

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Feb 13 2026

I've seen Mr Rascal in a few UK TV programmes, he seems like a very nice chap with a good sense of humour ( for my American friends, that is the correct spelling of humour ). This sense of fun obviously leaks over into his musical offerings, to present this absolute shite as music suggests a deep sense of irony. Well done. And then to make it nearly an hour long, absolutely hilarious. One star for the joke.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Mar 01 2026
Illmatic by Nas
Mar 18 2026

Nope, Rap is still boring.

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Mar 19 2026

I'd never heard of The Icarus Line before this popped up on my list. I now look back on that as the good old days. Pointless noise.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Apr 07 2026

Absolutely shit from start to finish, if only no stars was a possibility. Terrible music, worse lyrics, not a single redeeming feature. My life has been made worse by listening to this crap.
