I don't get Bowie and still don't. Is it 'quirky' music for the masses? Do I need to be on drugs? It sparks nothing inside me

David Bowie is massively overrated outside of his few radio hits. He’s proof that if you throw enough shit at the wall, eventually something will stick.

i always heard golden years at my retail job, never did i once think to my self “damn who sings this, its such a good song? i want to hear more.” his voice sounds short of nails screeching on a chalk board. not for me.

I guess what I'd expect from David Bowie's quirkiness and style of music. Talking heads vibes (I'm not sure who came first - that's okay) Not really my thing either.
