Feels like the last album he did for quite some time with obvious flashes of himself - Bewlay Brothers; Quicksand (both amazing) - in there, rather than whichever persona he had created. It's quite open about his influences, and it also feels like he's still trying on lots of different styles to see what fits. So you get some early glimpses of glam like Oh! You Pretty Things, and a VU homage/parody/rip-off, straight acoustic songs, show songs and all sorts of other stuff chucked into the mix. Also casually in the middle of it all one of the best songs of all time, and it opens with another all-time Bowie classic. Don't much care for Fill Your Heart or Andy Warhol, but I love everything else. It's a 5 alright.
Love it

Easy listening lounge covers for while you're waiting for your main course: Mike Flowers Poppadoms
Dabbled before and didn’t much like it. Emphatic confirmation that they’re not for me.
Great fun
Neither nowt nor summat.
Five all day long. Can understand those who don't like his voice but to write songs of the lyrical power of Masters of War; Hard Rain; BITW at what must have been 21/22 is mind-blowing. Impressive and depressing in equal measure.
Mehdy Waters
Shite.
Really enjoyed this. S&G style harmonies, great vocals.

Si
Signs of greater things to come.
Teenage Kicks plus some others.
Shite.
I mean, it's possibly Bowie's best album. Of course it's a five.
Still not for me.
Nah, you’re alright.
It’s taken me a long while to realise this but Led Zeppelin are overrated.
Love Bjork but somehow had never heard this. Flashes of Low and Hounds of Love. Sweet.
Used to listen to The Who quite a bit in a greatest hits sort of way. But the more I hear of them the less I like them. And boy do I hear them on here.
Pretty dull, innit?
Love Bjork, somehow hadn't really listened to this before, loved it too.
Used to really like this when it came out. Despite not listening to it for at least 20 years, turns out I still do.
Man, I love The Smiths. Probably their best album. Gotta be a 5.
5 for 4; probably their best
Came in not expecting very much and that's exactly what I got.
Insipid shite. Runny Crevice.
Now this is more like it! Great decorating music: my painting has been 43% more aggressive and efficient.
Lucky leppard.
Now I understand why I only know Love Shack.
Wasn’t sure what to expect and yet it all seemed familiar. Didn’t know he’s the lime in the coconut guy. All ok I suppose and yet I’ll never deliberately listen to it again in my life. So I guess I can live, if living is without it.
Will get No Other listens. Awful lot of country/hip hop/R&B filler in here isn’t there?
Goes on a bit doesn't it?
Loved the King Crimson album but not a fan of this noodly wank.
Not for me, Clive. Well, at least not sober at 10am on a Wednesday.
The more I listen to The Who, the less I like them. I think I prefer them as a singles band rather than their albums, which have a lot of filler.
Always liked this. Still do, it's great.
Nice, but what’s with all the horses?
Nearly up there with Blackstar as an end-of-life sign-off.
Obviously a 5. Desolation Row is a 5 on its own ffs. Think that was the one he said he could have continued writing verses for it "more or less forever". Then Thin Man, Queen Jane, title track, Rolling Stone etc etc
Ganz gut, innit?
Has to be a five. Brel is a top ten artist for me, love him :)
Between a four and a five. Leant the generous side due to its influence on Tranquility Hotel. And to mildly irk Myfanwy.
Love it
Not his best, is it? No, 'cos that's Vauxhall & I.
Alright, but I preferred Ingénue, which I also found through here.
