Reviews (page 2 of 14)

I mean, this video just reminds me so much of Greer and Gilmore Girls. 'I Feel the Earth Move' is an amazing opening track and my favorite of the album. Will definitely be adding it to my feel good playlist. Every song in this album is just so good. This is a masterpiece. 9.5/10

This album was SOOOO good. So entertaining and Carole King is so talented. So many songs I didn't know were hers. She is so good and the piano work was so great. Actual rating...4.5 Liked Songs: "I Feel the Earth Move" , "So Far Away" , "It's Too Late" , "Home Again" , "Way Over Yonder" , "Where You Lead" , "Smackwater Jack" , "Tapestry" , "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"

It truly is one of the greatest albums of all time! It has a a nice, chill atmosphere to it. The piano work is just as amazing as the vocals. Truly masterful!

Gorgeous Woman, Gorgeous Album, Gorgeous Vibes, Gorgeous closing track, maybe the most Gorgeous ever made? Just Gorgeous, and a very easy 5

Just gorgeous

I'm very impressed with this album. Amazing singing. Quite barebones in terms of instrumentals, but I very much feel like it complimented her voice and the overall tone of the songs.

Plus one more.

First 5 stars on this website, a genuinely amazing album

The best

What a pleasure - ashamed to say I was not as aware of Carole King as I should have been. No notes, this will be an album I'll come back to many times.

this is one of my favourite records! i didn't expect to get it so soon but mo complaints from. i love carole king's voice, it's so calming and i relate to get lyrics. she makes me feel calm and comfortable. tapestry is a record i truly cherish.

Such pure excellent songwriting. I love the presentation so much too. Just simple arrangements - almost like demo tapes. There's something great about how some of these songs were written for others or made famous by others, but these versions are so direct and raw and beautiful.

Iconic album from an all time great singer songwriter.

Song after song after song. Genius

Beautiful .. such a fantastic voice..magical

Carole King has a good voice, tells a great story through her songs, and has amazing instrumentation. I don't know what else to say other than I loved listening to this.

Makes you want to bop around as soon as the first few notes are played! I did my chores while listening and it made the work so much more enjoyable! Every song is a hit, amazing. On the song Tapestry she mentions a man with a coat of many colors (Feb 1971) - Dolly's song Coat of Many colors came out in April '71! Crazy. Listening to the lyrics of tapestry the song - talking about all these threads - how experiences and relationships are interconnected... Convergences & Confluences 😊 Amazing album.

omigod it was soooo gooood!! "i feel the earth move" was by far the best song but it was all a master piece! carol king slayyyyys!!!!

Finally getting some bangers, what a fantastic album

Amazing vocals, good instrumentals, every song slapped, so good!

This is just an incredible album from start to finish. Tapestry by King is iconic and a masterpiece! It is very much an album where it is banger after banger. 10/10, no notes. I will definitely be revisiting this album in the future!

When to listen: crisp autumn day in the Berkshires. Another album I know backwards and forwards, all hits no skips. King is a genius lyricist and composer, stunning singer... I love her—an appreciation made even deeper after seeing Beautiful on Broadway.

Quelle voix !!

me parecio precioso. con cada cancion que arrancaba yo decía "wait, do I know this?" así que ya existían en mi inconsciente. definitivamente voy a volver a escucharlo.

10/10 album all hits. you will not be disappointed

An absolutely astounding record that is part of an absolutely astounding body of work that continues to this day. Music is beyond lucky to call Carole King a friend.

einige klassiker, die man kennt - im gegensatz zum namen. mit einer tollen stimme. gefällt!

Kannte ich nicht und dabei ist sie eine der erfolgreichsten Songwriterinnen, also eine Entdeckung.

I Feel the Earth Move - 10/10. Killer. The break at 1:00 is old-school bluesy and fun. Slick piano. So Far Away - 9/10. Some songs perfectly capture an emotion. This one captures longing. Beautiful voice, wonderful arrangement. Carol Kaye's bass is top drawer. It's Too Late - 9/10. Definitely a song that I can hear her relationship with Gerry Goffin in. Outstanding instrumentation. Home Again - 8/10. Lyrics could be better, but the composition and melody are S-tier. Beautiful - 10/10. Excellent until it hits 2:00. Then it kicks up to outstanding. Way Over Yonder - 10/10. Not the voice I would expect to sing a song of this type. But GodDAMN does it work. Another killer. You've Got a Friend - 11/10. All I have to hear is the opening chords of this song and I start crying. The song written in response to her good friend James Taylor's "Fire and Rain," it hits a place in me that I didn't know was there until a couple of people came into my life and proved that this kind of friend really does exist. A different feel than the James Taylor cover (recorded on the same day, mind you). This goes to 11 only because I won't go to 12. Where You Lead - 8/10. Excellent composition, very good instrumentation, good lyrics. Will You Love Me Tomorrow? - 10/10. A song where it's worth paying attention to the backing vocals. How often do you hear someone like James Taylor singing backup? A very different feel from The Shirelles, but another absolute banger. Smackwater Jack - 7/10. Very different, lyrically and musically, from the other tracks on the album. Not as good as the rest of the album. Still very good (hard not to be when Carole King writes it and some of the best session players in the world play on it). The closest you come to "filler" on this album. Tapestry - 10/10. Stunningly beautiful. Natural Woman - 11/10. A very different feel than the original recording by Aretha Franklin. This particular woman feels familiar, approachable, and like so many of the wonderful women I know. Beyond perfect. This one also goes to 11. Overall Rating - 4.71/5 (9.42/10). One of the greatest (and most prolific) songwriters of all time. Great voice, awesome compositions, and The Wrecking Crew backing her up (with guest backing vocals by James Taylor) is perfection. All killers, no fillers.

Such an outstanding of a singer-songwriter whose lyrics perfectly express universal emotions, but at the same time didn’t ignore rhythm and musicality. Sublime.

like a big hug

Classic album with some classic songs that everyone will know. Top listen.

Mieletön! Tuttuja hittejä joukossa.

Genial...100%

Fantastic singer/songwriter. Album was just great with no bad tracks. Will definitely listen to this again.

A few songs added to the weekend morning playlist from this incredible album. What a songwriter.

Tapestry: First album in a while that I can honestly say I loved. You’ve Got a Friend is one of the very best songs ever in my opinion. But outside of that, you have an emotionally deep album. Carole King’s voice complements the music very well, it’s not too strong and pure but there is a comfort and familiarity with its slight imperfections. Musically it might not be the most exciting ever, but the song structures vary enough to keep me happy. Just a very comforting album to listen to, memorable melodies throughout. A 9.25/10 for me today - tremendous. Fun fact - this album stayed on the Billboard Top 10 for 313 weeks, second all time! Any guesses on what album was on there longer (for 724 weeks!!!)?

Every song is perfect

Génialissime, j’ai ajouté 3 morceaux à ma playlist

King's voice is endlessly endearing, you feel every word so humanly inside your heart. The music itself is soulful and ripe, rich with American woe; like the music of a lowly bar singer that you can't help but be enraptured with, even in your darkest moments. This album is like a ray of sunlight, dust suspended in it for infinity, or for just that one small moment, when all you needed was that shaft of light to find the strength to keep trying for tomorrow. This album is a cup of tea, a plate of bacon and eggs, apple pie, the taste of life, the flavour of morning. How I haven't listened to this album until now, I don't know, and honestly I feel a bit ashamed. Spectacular.

Wall to wall

Was waiting for this one to pop up, she pretty real for this one Will I listen to again: 100%

Simply a great folk pop singer, with that classic early 70s sound.

The best so far

Fantastic album!

great- singer/songwriter, i love this album and i have it on vinyl, there are so many bangers on this tracklist, you can dance to it, chill to it, feel warm and cozy with it. this is a listen in your room kinda album

A beautiful little piano-driven romp. Carole King has a very sweet and soaring, yet soulful voice. Very 70s style to this album. A true time capsule record. Best track, according to listener history, is 'it's too late,' but my personal favorite was 'where you lead.' BANGER.

All timer

music is love

What a woman

All time classic.

Chill music for a lone driving in the early summer. Just let the wind caress your skin and enjoy the sun on your face.

The first time I heard this album, I couldn't believe that these were all her songs - I had heard them covered by so many artists. She was a songwriting powerhouse at this time, and the lyrics and progressions were incredible. A beautiful girl-next-door warm voice with a surprising range, and tasteful accompamniments. This album is like a hug from your mother.

No skips on this one. I don't think anyone would argue that this is Carole's best album, but holds a special place in my musical journey as the album that opened my eyes to a lot of the female perspective, and the fact that women can make genius level music just as well as any man. Not that I ever doubted that, but the music business (as so many others) tends to be very male-centric. This was the first album I ever heard that made me do a double take and realize just how deep and powerful female artists can be.

One of the best

uau. simplesmente uau.

pra tomar um chocolate quente naquele dia frio e se sentir ok.

Gonna have to give this one the home run. Not an artist I would often put on, but too many timeless classics here to dismiss

this is quite an serious album with adult themes that remind you about important moments in your life 20/05/26, bus from chişinău to căușeni

One of the best albums of all time and a personal favorite for a reason. Defining for its time and yet timeless all the same.

Amazingly well written and performed.

This is a great album. It drags here and there, but she's got a killer voice and some great piano chops and listening to this carries me back in time to family road trips in the late 70s, which is great.

5/5 - I’m not at all interested in the “so and so sang it better” takes. King was one of the greatest songwriters in pop/rock all-time. This album is a goldmine.

Banger after banger - both intimate and expansive. Favourite track: I Feel The Earth Move

Insanely gorgeous album. Has anyone ever said before that Carole King is a phenomenal songwriter?? Definitely underrated (/s). I had never listened to this entire album, and there were some great songs I hadn't heard before. "Way Over Yonder" stands out as especially good - listened to it about 10 times yesterday.

Hard to rate this objectively. One of the first 3-4 albums I bought on vinyl. I’ve really just loved this record for quite a long time. I wish I could be blown away by this with fresh ears again. I wish pop music was still like this. Soulful, airy, positive, instrumentally driven. The songwriting is so strong. If I had to nitpick, the production does feel a little flat at times. But as a whole, this record feels timeless. I think these songs would still be hits if released today. 4.75/5.

Nice and easy going music.

My 400th album on the list, although my written journal has 416 albums in the last 400 days. Carole King's second album. Folk / Pop / Rock. This is a great album ! Female / Male, doesn't matter. For authenticity, heart, soul, vocals, lyrics, writing etc this is fantastic. The album is just gorgeous from beginning to end. As for female artists of today and their fans, this is where the bar is set. This is the real deal !

Overall: 9/10 Omg the Gilmore Girls song is on this. I was quite surprised by the fact that I'd only heard 2 songs from this album before, because I feel like it's one of those classics I just never got around to for one reason or another. This is just a very relaxing album, not exactly challenging to listen to. Not every album needs to be a prog rock masterpiece after all. Put this one on and let Carole King soothe your troubled mind with her beautiful voice and equally beautiful songwriting. Fav Song: Where You Lead

Fantastic singer-songwriter

A really wonderful collection of songs. Difficult not to give a 5.

One of the best albums ever

Owned End to end masterpiece

Carole King steps out from behind the writing desk to perform her own songs. This is actually her second album, her initial effort “Writer” having made little impact. With “Tapestry“ however, she hits a home run. There's a reason this is 14X platinum. One of the absolute touchstones of the singer-songwriter era. If much of the rest of the decade is filled with pale imitations, that is not Carole’s fault.

This is a great album to put on and just absorb. It fills your soul.

I could describe few other albums like this, but it sounds like a warm bath, purely earnest and cozy. Every melody and note sound familiar, yet not derivative, and delivered utterly sincerely

Great opening song. What a wonderful album. Often seen it and knew a few of the songs. But the whole album is woven together beautiful. A five star.

One of the best of all time IMO

An all time great here

Fantastic album. So far away is one of my favourite songs ever.

So I knew some of Carole King’s music, and especially many songs via others covering them. I had never sat down and listened to an entire album, and I am glad this list provided that opportunity. What a banger of an album. 4.5 / 5

I really didn't have to hit play. I've heard this album enough times that there was a time that I could almost sit quietly and just play it at speed in my head. The songwriting is so immaculate that dozens of artists, from James Taylor to Aretha Franklin, have covered songs from this album. This album is so iconic, so loved, and so deserving of all of those accolades that it's hard to imagine a world where it isn't a 5/5.

Fantastic songwriting and performance. Begs you to listen on repeat and sing along. Absolute rock of an album and instantly became a classic for me.

So many songs I recognised by other artists. Truly a great songwriter.

4.5 Banger after banger on this album.

An objectively, brilliantly written album.

Carole king I wasn’t familiar with your game Really good album that and songs I knew and liked but didn’t know she wrote

Excellent songwriting! You can tell it comes from the heart.

A masterpiece. Lucky enough to be introduced to this during my first year at uni.

Genius

Another easy 5 stars without even thinking about it

If you speak ill of this album, you are a monster. An iconic album by one of the greatest song writers, a Mt Rushmore of song writers, in rock history.

Det e jo vanskelig å ikke være ganske svak for det her albumet i sin helhet, særlig med såpass mange bangers på såpass kort tid. Og stemmen til Carole King e definitivt ikke å forakte.

I knew a few of these songs coming in and I probably would have recognized Carole King's name but I had no idea what I was in for. Excellent songwriting and great, subtle production. I loved it.

This is one of those records where the achievement might seem minor at first glance. I mean, sure - a collection great (and successful) tunes. But make no mistake, that’s not what this is really about. There is so much more to it: Tapestry is bursting at the seams with songwriting brilliance - and ideas. Wow, wow, wow. It never grows stale, does it? On the contrary, it gets better with every spin. And that still holds true even after hundreds of listens.

Great album

I knew most of these songs already but this is an album I would listen to again and again. No notes.

An album Haley Scott from one tree hill could have released

Me gustó

A timeless masterpiece, everything in this album was perfect. From the lyrics to the music,it was perfect

I can’t believe I got two stone cold 5s in a row after a fairly humdrum couple of weeks. I listened to it on my drive home and then again on vinyl this evening. “So Far Away” remains my favorite track but there isn’t a single skip.

good good

What more can be said about this legendary album? Fabulous from start to finish

Great album

Fabulous

The menu at a high class song licencing bistro, where the ingredients are simple but of the highest possible quality. Take your pick. Every song is tasty. And most, if not all, have been tried by many other artists.

Okay I was surprised by this one. Hadn't heard of Carole King but I have heard several of these songs, including the theme song to the Gilmore Girls(!), and overall this album is great.

Fabulous album! A true masterpiece.

Wow this is great actually. Her voice is fantastic. I think i've always thought of this as "old-timey" and never given it a proper chance. I just went and bought the album, haha. Wow.

God this Album is iconic and gives me nostalgia of sitting in my mothers car on the way to school blaring I feel the Earth Move and awfully trying to sing along.

Warm and cozy...a quality classic.

Incredible. Full of songs that instantly feel like you're best friend is comforting you.

What a gem. 5/5

Good grief, this woman can write hooky songs. Absolutely brilliant.

One of my fafoirites

Alveg ótrúleg plata, hvert öðru betra. Óhætt að kalla þetta meistaraverk. Klárlega einn besti lagahöfundur allra tíma.

I liked it!

*1971. *45 mins. *So many hits: I Feel the Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late, Where You Lead, You've Got a Friend (she wrote it), You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman (she wrote it). *Carole is always such a vibe. RATING - 9/10

Incredible songwriting, most songs are classics and stand the test of time. Such an easy 5 stars.

Brilliant record. So many classic songs. 5 stars all day long.

Wonderful album. Excellent tone and beautiful sound. Think I listened to this three times yesterday…lovely stuff.

Solidly a 4.5 for me. Going to 5 because I can listen without skipping. Great album.

Tapestry by Carole King is a must-listen album for a ton of reasons. One, she's one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever, male or female. This album stayed in the charts for over 300 weeks. Several artists also had hits with the songs from this album, even while the album was still on the charts. She also inspired a ton of female singer/songwriters, including the current biggie, Tay Tay. I have listened to this album several times, and I could go track by track, or I can just tell you this is one of the greatest albums ever created. It'll make you happy, it'll make you cry, it'll make you think, and it'll make you glad you live in a world where art like this exists. If you’ve ever taken my dumb advice on listening to any of the previous 220 albums I've written about, then immediately listen to this album, as I think it will make an impact in your life, or at least make today a little bit better.

Me encantó, me pareció súper lindo, el piano me pareció divino y la voz de carole también.

This is a lovely album. It is one I haven't previously paid any attention to. It has a beautiful, sparse arrangement that allows the music to breathe.

An album of songs about vulnerability, uncertainty, with beautifully expressed emotions. Great songs, wonderful melodies and a great band, all playing to serve the songs

I’m so glad this one came up. It’s one of those classic albums I knew I ought to listen to and it set the mood for a rainy Friday Spring evening perfectly.

Wonder, spring, summer of fall

Fantastic album!!

I do love this album. 5 stars, 70s song writers

one of the greatest collections of songs by one of the greatest songwriters

A wonderful collection of songs. And it reminds me of George Barnwell. What more could I ask for?!

In the midst of a lot of mid or downright bad albums, Tapestry by Carole King stands out as actually being one of the greatest albums of all time. This is an album you should hear before you die.

Carole's just one of the all-time best, you know? And on Tapestry, she moves from writing pop songs for teens to writing for a more adult audience, with a whole lot of success. Soft rock often has a connotation, at least to me, of being a bit corny, but in Tapestry's case it's actually very comforting. If you can only listen to one singer-songwriter, this is the one, honestly!

From the Brill building to the roots of the Laurel Canyon fabric, this album is amazeballs!

Fav- ( you make me feel like) a natural woman 5/5

She has a really great , mellow singing voice that exudes soul. Songs are very interesting and upbeat. She can be soulful and also play a song that can get you up dancing. She is masterful on the piano.

Terrific album. It's a top three singer-songwriter album by a woman, and lemme tell ya it's not 2nd or 3rd. Even the random "Smackwater Jack" is endearing. King is a great songwriter, and while her vocals are not as strong as the singers who cover her songs, her voice on her own songs adds to the home-y, early Sunday morning coffee atmosphere. "I Feel The Earth Move", "So Far Away", "It's Too Late", "You've Got a Friend", "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "Where You Lead"... at this rate I'm just gonna name the entire tracklist. Everything is great.

Easy 5 star. One of my favorites.

iconic highlights: Way Over Yonder

This should definitely be an album everyone listens to!

I love Carole King!

banger after banger !

So *this* is what a shit load of pop comes from I'm sure there's plenty of people who dismiss this as "easy listening" so this falls squarely into my 5 stars rule (I'd knife fight people over it) Easy listening ≠ easy writing or playing, this is top notch songwriting and execution You can just imagine the creative energy when Carole King presented "Natural Woman" to Aretha Franklin Telemachus the cat is perfect

This was great! I can’t believe all these songs came from one album! Outstanding! It’s so weird to think of these songs as new. To me they are just the songs that had always been.

Anything less than 5 stars is a lie. Full stop.

Love this album full of well known songs and even the lesser known tracks enhance the album. Amazing lyrics with great arrangement and wicked piano playing.

I've heard so much about Carole King's 'Tapestry' over the years, but have never got around to listening to it...until now. And my verdict? Yeah, it's a great record, and King's vocals and songwriting sure have a distinct and original flavour, not to mention her immense skill on the piano. 'Tapestry' is one of those records where you can very quickly tell why it's as revered as it is. Hearing King's voice, you can quickly draw comparisons with Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos, Amy Winehouse and Stevie Nicks, and she did it before all of them, so the influence is profound. There's also King's quality songwriting. King wrote (or co-wrote) every song on 'Tapestry', and there's very little filler, which proves the quality of this record. 'You've Got A Friend' would become a big hit for James Taylor and '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' had already been a big hit for Aretha Franklin, so King's quality songwriting was already well known in the pop music circles, but 'Tapestry' is the first time people really started to notice how gifted King was in her own right. She wasn't just a songwriter, she was a musician as well, and a damn good one. 'Tapestry' stayed in the Billboard 200 chart for more than six years and became one of the best-selling records of all time, and with the countless tributes to this album that have popped up all over the world since its release, its legacy is self-explanatory. A true 'lightning in a bottle' moment. Best songs: I Feel the Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late, Way Over Yonder, You've Got A Friend, Smackwater Jack, Tapestry, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

I'm absolutely loving this!

A great album for my birthday. Good selection and nice to hear it for the first time. Already enjoyed a few songs on here in the past and it really sounds quite good.

All hail the King

It was like getting a hug from your mom

Masterpiece

Absolute Queen!

I know this album well and it's a true five star.

Never get tired of this album. Iconic cover with Telemachus the cat!

Amazing album. This is the perfect album for a late night relaxing in bed. Carole’s voice is incredible and paired with acoustic guitars, flutes and pianos makes the perfect mix. If I was to give this another spin, I wouldn’t skip a song. It’s to late or a natural woman are my top 2 but it’s hard to pick just 1 favourite

First listened on 18th March 2026. Favourite songs are It's Too Late and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

Loved this

Great surprise of an album. Here's another artist that, again, I had heard of before, but couldn't name a single song of off the top of my head. And the album got off to a fine start, I liked the vibe and the simple, well-produced sound she had, but nothing was blowing my socks off. Then the second side starts and it just keeps getting better and better. There are a couple of covers in here, ones that are just as potent as the original songs, but King's songwriting and sound shines through the rest of every track, saving the titular song for the practical end of the album. It's about as easy listening as any singer-songwriter album I've came across on this list, and I wouldn't hesitate to through this album on pretty much any time. Fantastic stuff from an era that I am starting to be hesitant of. Highlights: It's Too Late You've Got A Friend Where You Lead Will You Love Me Tomorrow? Tapestry (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

It’s just hit after hit the emotion in her voice is astounding and an album that really makes you feel about yourself a really great album

Hace unos años escuché este disco por primera vez, y me encantó. Es un disco con una tristeza intrínseca aún en canciones como "I feel the earth move". Dudo que en mi juventud me hubiera gustado tanto con su olor a libro o disco guardado por tus papás o abuelos. Gracias por ponerlo en mi camino de nuevo.

Classic

One of the greatest popular songwriters. Her recording of Will You Love Me Tomorrow is better than the cover by the Shirelles

Carole King is like the voice behind other famous voices. She had long lent her songwriting talents to other artists. That's fine for some but some songs just need the personal touch of the songwriter as the singer, delivering their powerful lyrics in their own voices. Surely that's the case with Carole King, hiding in the shadows until she was finally encouraged to record herself. The proof is all over this album, among the most successful albums of all time. It easily holds up as a stunning example of the singer-songwriter genre.

10/10 Вайбы лета, свободы, свежести и чистоты. Альбом для тихой прогулки в одиночестве, посиделках на веранде в прохладную погоду и запах сирени и липы

an absolute favorite!

Such a good listen. She has such a lovely voice. Those were some good times! It's weird, I wouldn't just go to Spotify and pick out this, or Joni, or some of the other lovely song writers from that time. but I'm always glad when I do.

There's no arguing with this one.

Incredible album.

a great singer-songwriter at her peak gets a little help from her friends; an essential pop classic

Wow... an album that you actually SHOULD hear before you die. Good job, Robert. Here. Have a biscuit, mate.

Nothing bad about this album. In fact it might be too good that it leans toward boring at times. Nothing to pick apart. It’s funny doing this list. This wouldn’t typically get a 5 from me, however if I put this to scale with what has been forced upon me: This is far and away deserving of a 5.

Pure genius. One of the true great albums first to last track.

May seem deceptively simple, even basic - that’s how incredible the songwriting is: pure, honest, direct with no artifice needed.

Omfg! One of my all-time favorite albums! Can't wait to listen tomorrow morning while I'm eating breakfast! Such an awesome album!

One of the greatest albums of all time

Immaculate song writing, vocal melody and catchy hooks and choruses throughout. A great album to lift your mood

singer-songwriter gorgeousness

LOVE!!!!!! One of my all time favorite albums of comfort music

not really my taste but pop off i guess

An absolute classic, featuring some of the best songs ever written. A powerful opening few songs which showcase the range of Carole's voice, beyond simply "singer-songwriter with a guitar", really leaning into her funk and soul tendencies. Brilliant album, with nice dynamic shifts and textures, to add extra depth to the incredible songwriting.

a truly iconic album - the vibe : immaculate

Not even my favorite type of music, but man, there is classic after classic on here. Carole King knows how to write a tune!

Perfect for a sunday

What a gorgeous album. Every song is stunning in its own way. A sublime voice and the lyrics flow like poetry. After a string of mid albums, this was like a breath of fresh air in comparison. Thank you for introducing me to this masterpiece! 9.5/10

honestly peak.

Loved this

Awesome songs and lyrics, I can listen time and again

Love this album, full of soul and life, just peaceful in a validating way. Carole King is definitely an artist that is emotional in her singing, genuine and so sweet. Love the upbeat and the slow songs, like 'a dance in the kitchen/living room with your partner' kind of vibe <3

Another masterpiece

A master class in song writing. No skips.

This album’s reputation is well deserved. Great songwriting that stands the test of time.

Really 10/10 album. Every one should give it a try.

(100/100)

FINALLY A LADY ALBUM. It only took thirty! (Really though. Who's going to update this album list? Mr. Dimery's choices are myopic.) There's relief in finally hearing some of my own voice in the music. I can sing along to this. Even the album cover is relatable. Barefoot in blue jeans, hanging out with the cat, seeking out the sun. Her unpolished voice is charismatic. King can claim singer-songwriter credit, and beyond that, major hit-writing credits. Listening to her music strung together in a complete album is surprisingly not boring. The songs I didn't already know were solid and the subject matter went beyond romance. In a thousand albums, this one clearly earns its place as a high point in Carole's contributions to the American music catalog.

This is nice. I like Its Too Late Listening to this I’m just thinking about how music can be a good reflection of what life was like at that time and such, captures the vibe of an era. Imagine life being so light and sweet like this? God damn, no one’s making music like this and Anne Murray in this state of the world lol. Damn there’s actually so many good songs on this album. Super good album. 70s was a solid decade for music for sure. wtf is wrong with the 80s my god, why can’t you be like the 70s? 4.5/5

Heel erg mooi album. Puur songwriting vakmanschap. Vandaag ook even wat dieper in haar muziek gedoken, waaruit bleek dat ze veel hits heeft geschreven voor andere artiesten. Ik vind het erg indrukwekkend en kan dan ook niets anders dan 5 sterren geven.

Si hay gatito, hay like. Algo más que bien

I. Loved. This. Album. Every song. This is what folk music means to me. A rich voice that belts out the joy and the sorrow.

So many clsssics that I don’t know were Carole!

Another 5.

The best 3 opening songs of all time?

So many beautiful songs on this album.

Bass lines go crazy

Yes yes yes

Carole King is queen. Songwriting masterclass.

Excellent work here, been a while since I've seen jazz elements on display in the generator, not perfect but very very good and a beautiful listen

It’s hard to believe this isn’t a greatest hits album, when it’s home to so many Great Hits. I’ll admit I’ve never listened to the album in full prior to this exercise and what a fool have I been! I’m almost lost for words for how beautiful this album is. Cracker of an opener and then Carole just hits you with sucker punch after sucker punch. There’s so much love and longing in the lyrics and the music matches perfectly. The Gilmore Girls theme song isn’t even the closest to being the best track and I still get the goosebumps every time I hear it!! Long live the (Carole) King! —— I’m back again the next day and holy hell this album just gets better with every listen.

An easy 5. Proof you don’t need the strongest or sweetest voice to create a masterpiece.

Музыка 70х прекрасна

Popular masterpiece, time machine for Boomers. As a GenXer who grew up in the 70s, it takes me back as well. Super songwriter, this is her best work.

we’ve lost the art of the song cover

очень понравилось, приятный музыкальный, мелодичный pop-rock

Hit after hit on this album. I hadn’t really known quite how many hits Carole King had. Songs that I remembered hearing as a child are now felt as a woman. A pop album with heart and soul and truth - a true rarity.

Punxsatawney Phil saw his shadow, so Spring is do farrr away... Anyway, staying on topic hear, I must admit nostalgia influenced this rating(my mom played this album while driving around when I was a kid). Her voice is sensational. She's another Joni Mitchell, except her music is actually entertaining. This album delivered, and I've began February with a bang Favorite Track: "So Far Away

Another album with bangers after bangers. Also I get why this is on this list. The influence of this album is very clear. A delight. 5/5

I love this cat! I love it, love it, love it, LOVE IT! I’ve got this album on vinyl, and it was on a display, and I saw this cat every day for several years, and I still love him. I don’t know why, but he is so cool. Somehow he looked like he’s playing bass on this album, or produced it. Very confident cat! So, this album is so good, that even cat on a cover is superb and part of experience. When THE Beatles arive to your country for the first time, and meeting with you is first thing on a list — need to say more? Great artist, great album, nuff said.

That was actually so sweet and peaceful to listen to

Loved it! I want to get this album. Def will listen to it again.

This was a beautiful album

This is one of the best albums of all time. Nothing bad to say about this album. This album feels like the early 70's but the songs are timeless. This album makes me want to listen to other Carole King albums but I already feel I will be disappointed as nothing will be as good or complete as this album. Easy 5 stars... (The ratings should be out of 10 at least... and this would be a 10. Using the current rating this would be a 10 out of 5.)

Listens to this twice over the weekend, stunning

Every song someone better than the last.

One of the greatest albums ever. The number of classics she wrote and originally recorded is ridiculous.

what a banger album. i had so much fun listening

This was glorious perfection.

Ja helemaal mooi, bangers

Amazing ! The best !

Carole King is an amazing songwriter. This is album is proof of that. It's exquisite and shines through her most well known songs as well as those that are not to popular.

Really enjoyed this. A classic.

Yup, this is an album you need to listen to before you die.

All Timer x3

Great album. Soulful, yet upbeat.

Peak. One of my favorite cover-to-cover albums of all time. I listen to this regularly and would recommend it to anybody.

This album was part of my teenage years. A very welcome reunion when it popped up. This is #1 of #1001Albums.

perfect

1971 was a pretty good year for music, all told, but this album has to stand as one of the biggest selling and most influential of the year. This was Carole King’s first solo album as a singer/songwriter and it’s pretty much flawless. It’s been tagged as ‘easy listening’ but that’s a bit misleading - there are some powerful songs here (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, it’s Too Late and Natural Woman), but they are all sung with beguiling charm and restrained instrumentation. The only slightly jarring note is the murder ballad Smackwater Jack (which is a breezy take on a mass shooting and a summary hanging - yikes!) but it’s redeemed by the title track Tapestry. This album stands head and shoulders above every other dull snooze fest from white male rockers and gangsta rappers. I just wish more of this list was like this.

4.67/5 Stars Top Songs: I Feel The Earth Move, It's Too Late, Smackwater Jack

Top shelf

So I actually listened to this album previously because of this project. Saw it was in the list, and decided to listen to it ahead of time (did the same with a few other albums). And holy shit is this an amazing album. It's one of those albums where every song I feel like I had heard before. I Feel The Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late, You've Got A Friend, and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman most prominently. Impossibly smooth, but also with the slightest edge. Easily one of the greatest albums of all time, and for me, prime up north driving/cabin music. Side note: Can't go wrong with an album art featuring a cat, haha.

Great album with classic songs that gs which stand the test of time

I wonder if Carole King and all the musicians that played on ‘Tapestry’ knew they were making one of the greatest records of all time.

really good well composed album. Has a lot of soul and Carole King has an incredible voice. Standout tracks for me were "it's too late", "where you lead" and "(you make me feel like) a natural born woman". The lyrics are evoking and beautifully convey the emotions and themes of the song. The album cover also has a very nice cat. Should be 4.5/5 but you can't do half stars so I'll give it 5 cos I think it's closer to a five then a four

One of my favourite albums of the last few decades. Been at my side for over 50 years

There is the perfect mix of more upbeat songs to sad songs on this album. The lyrics are phenomenal and real. This album really speaks to me. I could actually listen to it on a regular basis.

Did not expect anything great from this and was pleasantly surprised. Each song was an absolute bop of a song in its own right. It was upbeat and lyrically fantastic and mellow and genuinely everything. One of the best albums i’ve heard in a minute. Also had no idea “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” was on this album or by her so that was amazing to learn. going to have to listen to her whole discography at some point.

gilmore girls!

Loved! Definitely more My speed and several classics on this album!

Unparalleled songwriting, just gorgeous. And one of the best album covers of all time!

An absolute gem of an album, beautifully written and expertly played 5 - a near-perfect album

Every song is a damn treasure.

An absolute classic. I love it all. "It's Too Late" is truly great.

Absolute classic of an album!

Perfect, basically.

Genre: Soft Rock (Singer/Songwriter) One of the most important songwriters in pop music history spreads her wings on her own solo record, and makes a genuine, fun-to-listen to record, full of soft and acoustic arrangments, and just chock-full of absolute hits. She showcases versions of two songs that have already been mega-hits (Will You Love Me Tomorrow, [You Make Me Feel Like] A Natural Woman), and some new ones that are also total heaters (I Feel the Earth Move, You've Got a Friend). Her voice is great, the production is sparkling and clean, and she's truly a master at work. A really great record, sunny day or rainy day, it's just magnificent. Can't say enough good things about this one. Check it out. Hard to hate this absolute titan. 5/5

SO SO good. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this album ; best one I’ve been recommended so far. Such a beautiful voice with beautiful lyrics. Also gilmore girls mentioned!

"One of the great albums of all time... every song is a master class... a songwriter that is so good it's like showing off... she shows off by doing songs that were gigantic hits for other acts like "Natural Woman", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", and "You've Got A Friend"... and then shows off even more by doing original songs no one but she did... "So Far Away", "I Feel The Earth Move" and "It's Too Late"... songs that don't get as much play on this record would be THE big song on most other acts'... including "Way Over Yonder", "Home Again" and the hauntingly beautiful title track... again, one of the best albums of all time... the epitome of a singer/songwriter at the very top of her game... and letting you know, simultaneously, that she had been around for a long, long time before... and is still doin' it today... FIVE STARS... all the live long day."

This has been one of my favorites since I was born. It's a masterpiece - legendary for a reason.

She makes it just seem so effortless. There are no gimmicks, there is no over-production; just King and her monumental talent on display. I can either have this album on as easy listening background music or I can dive into it, along with my feels. It's a Sunday morning with a coffee and hope or a Friday evening with few glasses of red wine and nostalgia. An album for all time.

Perfect album for a rainy day

Great album, and it still hold up after all this time. Simple understated lyrics as well as the music. Just a classic wonderful album, top to bottom.

Fire. No notes.

I rolled my eyes when I saw this was today's album, and I am pleasantly shocked to give it four stars [editing this a week later to change it to five stars because I haven't stopped thinking about it]. These songs have all become clichés, but approach them on their face, and they are individually remarkable. I kept waiting to be cynical about it, but I never did. I fully gave myself over to it once I started crying during "You've Got a Friend."

She’s the poster child of responsible white liberal boomer singer-songwriting and frankly kills at it.

Alveg frábær plata sem fer með okkur í gegnum margar tilfinningar en á bakvið öll lögin er von.

One of my favorite albums, and obviously belongs on this list as one of the best albums of all time. Carole King has a great voice and is an amazing songwriter, but it's her piano playing that really draws me in time and time again.

Gilt zurecht als Klassiker. Tolle Stimme, tolle Songs (auch die Cover). Wenn man in der richtigen Stimmung für so schönen 70s-Pop ist, dann gibt es eigentlich nichts Besseres.

A timeless classic. No notes

BEAUTIFUL

Always wonderful and soulful. Timeless! 5 stars!

A year into this and this is the first time I'll give five stars to an album I haven't already heard before! While I don't love every song here it's very easy to see why it's well reviewed. The production is absolutely fantastic and the vocals, superb!

This was such a treat. God I love Carole King. Her voice is so timeless and comforting and just feels the way a Nancy Meyers movie looks. 10/10 no notes

Enough of the other reviews are novel length so I'll leave it at this: This is one of the greatest albums of all-time. If you don't think it's 5 stars get your fucking ears checked.

Great instrumentals, especially piano.

Soulful and poetic, this album is wonderful. Her solemn vocals bring the lyrics to life.

So great. Every song.

Day714 - i love reading everyone’s reviews and hearing other artists talk about the impact of tapestry. this is a 6 star album.

I used to play my dad’s tape of this on high rotation
