Child of Time is an amazing song, Flight of the Rat has some great drumming. But outside of that nothing else clicked for me.

Son of a Preacher Man and The Windmills Of Your Mind are great and the rest is fine.

It's not a great album, but for 1966 this is very impressive.

It's a fine album, but why is it on this list?

It's a nice, sweet, easy-listening album. But also, it does not really challenge the listener, or push boundaries, or do something that outshines its contemporaries. In fact, it can sometimes feel a bit derivative.

It's fine, smooth listening but nothing that really stuck with me.

It's fine, but not very memorable. Why is it on this list?

Freedom '90 is a great song and Praying for time is also good, After that nothing else clicked for me.

On a pure enjoyment level I might rate it higher than this, but it definitely is not an influential or genre-defining album. Just more of the same from Pixies.

If this was the American reissue it would have gotten 2 stars purely for Paint It Black being on it. But the original UK version truly has no redeeming qualities. Many songs are just plain and uninteresting, Jagger's voice and performance aren't captivating and often do not work well with the rest of the song. Then there are points where the album dips from bad or just uninteresting to awful, such as the bottomless pit of annoying nothingness of Going Home.

Getting real tired of all these 80s British post-punk albums

Unfocused mess. Production and sound fluctuates so much between okay at best and muddled and confused at worst. Songs that go nowhere and a vocals that are sometimes drowning in reverb or other effects to muddle it to the point of mumbling.

So close to 4 stars, nearly everything is really fun and enjoyable to listen. But only Alright was unique enough for me to think its an essential song to have heard.

The first 4 songs are good, of which Mr. Brightside is amazing. Then it goes downhill.

Has some of their best songs, sadly they are ruined by the god-awful production.

A lot of high quality songs with a great vocal performance. The last disc therefore is a bit lacking without the good songwriting and vocals. Rating this not as an album to sit through in one go, but as a compilation of works, it is quite good.

Outside of some of the "conscious" lyrics, there is nothing really noteworthy at all. Getting a "Why is this on the list?" score of 1

Now I know how people in the 80s/90s felt around "metal kids" in high school

A beautiful and fascinating album, but kinda crazy we have this album and Medúlla in this list but not Post or Homogenic.

Its highlights are better than the other Fatboy Slim album on here, but its messy almost blaring production on some tracks in the second half do make it hard to enjoy as a whole.

Sometimes the amount of streams per song on an album are quite telling. Ignoring the singles, it starts around 177k and gradually decreases until 66k. Which perfectly reflects my opinion on the album, the album isn't even that long, but holy hell does it drag on and on and on at around the halfway point.

It's not even that bad, just really really uninteresting

Yes it's repetitive and odd but it at points builds some interesting soundscapes that I could really get into. Still, yes, it is not super interesting compared to its contemporaires around 1994

At first I thought the average score on this album was a bit harsh, since I heard quite some variation in the tracks and their influences. However this album is just too long and at some point I realized that each song had a cool idea or sound and then just did that until the end with little variation. Then the last half of the album just isn't all that good.

Not even Eno's best Ambient album

Gets a 4 just because the really high highs balance out the rest of the album

While maybe a bit too long, the mix of triphop with tango and sampling is very unique and interesting. It does what it needs to and works well as music to relax with

Album sounds a bit ass to be honest

It's not necessarily *that* awful, I just wanted it to end as soon as possible and never want to hear it again.

I love love love Beastie Boys, but besides Brass Monkey, Fight For Your Right and No Sleep Till Brooklyn the rest of the songs just aren't good and not enjoyable. Especially knowing what great work they would do later.

This gets 5 stars just for how pleasantly surprised I was. I saved every track : )

+ Great beats, nice production, keeps the sound consistent for its long runtime - The long runtime, general theme of the album and ... questionable lyrics. Nothing wrong with being a bit edgy on your nicely produced hiphop record, but for such a long album AND including some pretty bad interludes, yeah that deducts some points.

It still holds all the same great qualities of Master of Puppets. However, this time the album is mixed like shit. It sounds incredibly dry. Still through this at times the great songs peak through.

Great Hiphop classic!

A 3/5 from me is high for a country album. Nice songs!

It's a 4.5/5 but giving it a 5/5 because it surprised me so much.

Could be 5 stars if it didn't feel like they got stuck in the same style of experimentation on the last 3 songs

I can respect it for establishing things that would later be improved on by others, but just on its own it is too vague and out there without really coming together as a whole.

A 90s British art-rock/pop album that I didn't know of that isn't mediocre or shit?! Surprising!

It's a little sloppy at points, primarily at the start. Where the symphony and the band do not really integrate well together, and the symphony feels like an unfitting after thought addition, but when it works it works quite well. It is also just a bit too long.

Bob Dylan vocals with very shimmery instrumentals to listen before sleep

Metamorphosis and Raghupati are great but can't save this album from feeling quite unoriginal despite being a full sitar album

Another honorary 5/5, not because it is a perfect album but because it consistently surprised me and I feel like every song has some merit or is very good.

At Least La Grange is good, the rest is forgettable and bland

I can handle ABBA when they bring the bangers, I can't really take it serious when it's the sappy over-dramatic Eurovision-esque stuff. This album is full of the latter.

This used to be my favorite album when I was 14, then I grew up and realized it wasn't as clever as I thought. Congratulations, Little Dark Age and Loss of Life are better.

Did not impress me, but I will give it its props for influencing a lot of music to come.

I am 100% biased. Growing up doing breakdance I heard tons of hiphop tracks that use samples from this album or just the tracks themselves. Even outside of its influence, this album is just great. Very danceable and creative, especially with it's fun takes on existing songs.

Really great stuff, just a bit too repetitive and not enough experimentation to make it interesting enough

It's good, but not a very unique soul record. Cloud Nine is a good track though
