Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Bit boring and unmemorable. A shame, cos their other album on here was decent.I won't return to this.

I was not previously familiar with the artist or the album. I would say this is lush indie rock. There's a lot going on here. I feel like it's not particularly accessible. I did not really enjoy this, and I doubt I would come back to it.

Came and went pretty unnoticed

Never understood why everyone thought these guys were hot shit.

Noise.

I just don’t think this was very good, sorry.

Some songs start interesting but putter out. STAY OUT OF MY TERRITORY. Overall this just kinda pisses me off

In terms of lyricism, I thought it was pretty good, and therefore I understand why it's on this list. However, “Family Tree” was the only song that stuck with me.

2+ Stars (6/15)

Lost interest but liked Family Tree.

Mukavaa rytmikästä meininkiä. Koneääniähän nämä suureksi osaksi tuntuu olevan, syntikkaa ja sellaista. Kelvollista kuitenkin.

Albums I listened to yesterday that were better than this… Widow City by The Fiery Furnaces, the OBC recording of Company, and It’s Martini Time by Rev. Horton Heat. Put them on this list.

Yeah😂😭

Starts off okay but quickly becomes redundant. With the exception of "Dancing Choose" there wasn't much that the music sounded different than the rest and all the lyrics are nonsensical ramblings. It just feels like a theater kids trying to be cool and failing miserably

Het album begon heel sterk, maar zwakte daarna meteen weer af. Die nasale stem in combinatie met al die herhaling valt nogal snel uit de toon. de instrumentatie vind ik best wel interessant maar het is niet bijzonder ofzo. Favoriet: Halfway Home, shout me out, lover's day Minst favoriet: Crying, Dancing Choose, Red dress 2/5

Мені не дуже сподобалось не дослухала навіть

This didn’t grab me. Good background music though. I didn’t dislike it but when I actively listened it didn’t work for me.

Like the last TVOTR album, the start of the album gave me hope, but it quickly degenerated into boring swill. I don't need to hear any more TVOTR albums before I die.

# Album Name: TV on the radio # Artist: Dear Science # Rating: 2/5 # Comments: One decent song. Rest were meh # Top Tunes: # Would I listen to it again? No

A couple of good songs, but the rest irritated me. I'm not sure if it was the dissonance or style of singing, but it felt like a bad OK Go album. Halfway Home ★★★★☆ Crying ★★★☆☆ Dancing Choose ★★☆☆☆ Stork & Owl ★★☆☆☆ Golden Age ★★☆☆☆ Family Tree ★★★★☆ Red Dress ★★☆☆☆ Love Dog ★★☆☆☆ Shout Me Out ★★☆☆☆ DLZ ★★☆☆☆ Lover’s Day ★★☆☆☆ Average Album Rating: 2.5/5.0 ★★☆☆☆

This was fine, I don't know didn't really do it for me, feel like there are a lot of other bands that have a better sound than this but in the same lane

Ok. ★★

I love DLZ, and some of the others are fine but too many funky bad ones.

Not a big TVotR fan, but I did find many of the arrangements on here to be very interesting. Some of these songs are quite good, but also a handful of clunkers.

I listened to this one yesterday and slept overnight before doing this review. I remember absolutely nothing about this album besides that it wasn’t actively terrible.

Back half absolutely makes up for the unremarkable front half

i didn't super enjoy this one. i think a few of the later songs like Red Dress and DLZ were aight on their own, but as a whole album this didn't give me a ton of enjoyment.

I did not like this guy's voice. Pretty disappointed with this album.

This album is really bland and uninteresting. It has some nice arrangements, but there is nothing that really blows my mind, and the songs are not good at all. Some are nice, but others are simply insipid. So, well, it's not that bad to get one star, but it's not a good album. I would never highlight it.

4 minutes of non-musical silence is so nuts

Some of the songs were very nice to listen to, however in my personal opinion, the overall album has missed potential, and lacked a few aspects.

Pretty same same wasn't it

Bad surprise with this one. The first two songs seemed decent. Nothing amazing but at least worthwhile. Then it keeps going sadly. I truely hate the vocals. I dont know what it is but it rubs me the wrong way bad. And if thats not bad enough I dont even like the music backing him up. It feels so robotic in a bad way. Loops shouldn't feel this bad. I dont know if I really care for them all that much but maybe I just hate them too. Im not sure but I hate it here at the very least. And if I dont like the music or the singing I dont know what else is left for me? Nothing really. Its not completely offensive but I was very happy when the 50 minutes was up. Like I said those 2 first songs were at least semi enjoyable. Just a record shouldn't skydive into bad town the rest of the way.

de luca wird sich freue! und s albumcover isch e ABOMINATION halfway home isch easy I guess? poaah easy nervig hahaha so quirkyyyy family tree sött glaub e herzigi ballade sii aber chan nöd vill demit ahfange oke hans nomal glost und ich glaub ich cheggs scho, d striicher sind na schön aber es isch scho sehr es warte bis s album fertig isch de schluss vo shout me out findi jz actually no cool! DLZ KINDA POB?? WTF direkt us boppelse (wie bin ich nie vorher druff cho?) OMG ENDLICH FERTIG

Didn't love this. Not terrible, nothing at all that really grabbed me on it either. Probably not going to revisit (although it is, again, not a _bad_ album), and slightly inauspicious start to this whole thing.

Completely forgettable 2000's rock.

1.5 stars I couldn’t remember why when there was a lot of hype on this band I never really listened to them. But right away into this album I remember giving “Return to Cookie Mountain” a try and finding it underwhelming and not getting it. I felt similarly about this album. It had its moments, but overall I felt like it was music that I may have pretended to like in pseudo intellectual conversations with hipster teens in the 00s, but would never have had any genuine interest in or experience authentic joy in listening to. I wanted to feel differently, but in the end it fell flat for me.

Average Indie Band.

Quite a bit of variety, but all pretty bland.

Don't see the appeal. Logorrhea for lyrics, subpar singing, mystery meat music. The few tunes I found catchy got sidetracked by at least one of these things.

TV On The Radio coming out of leftfield with Dear Science. I think I’ve heard of this band, but didn’t recognize any of their songs. It’s a decent electronica rock album with some interesting lyrics; DLZ and Red Dress as the best tracks. Death’s a door that love walks through… (2.1*s)

Цей гурт дуже любила музична преса і цей альбом зокрема. Я що тоді, що зараз не викупаю його.

This isn’t bad per se. It's just very lifeless to me. Love Dog is ok.

Halfway Home is a banger, but the rest is a mish mash of genres, and I didn’t really enjoy any of them. This isn't an innovative album, its not even an interesting album. Its not essential listening and i hope i dont have to listen to it again. Halfway Home is still a banger though.

Too irritating to be enjoyable. Not as bad as some albums on this list so 2 stars.

Annoying music, can't work to it. DNF.

Tenker TV kan holde seg unna radio

Extraordinarily forgettable. As of this writing, it has been 13 years since the album came out, and from my perspective, has had zero impact on later art or culture. Not offensive, but not really worth talking about much either. ⭐⭐.5

A few things here I enjoyed. But I feel like everything this did good there's other bands that do it way better

Do people like this?

Что здесь вообще может восхищать?

Didn't care for this one as much as I did "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes". This sounds kind of like OK GO if OK GO came from Temu.

I am honestly not sure why this album is on the list, it was not a bad listen just doesn’t sound very influential to me. Like background music, songs I would listen to again are: DLZ, Halfway Home and Lover’s Day.

I really didn't enjoy this. Ghoulish and winey vocals with uninspired backing instrumentals. Everything was listenable but I think I'd skip every song if it came on the radio. 3.5/10 (1.75/5)

girl i dont think anyone has to listen to this before they die

One or two ok songs, but overall too annoying, nervous and farfetched.

Different in beat and tempo. Wouldnt say it was good

По всем параметрам моя музыка, которая прошла по большей части мимо меня. Возможно, если я послушаю этот альбом через * лет, это будет мой любимый альбом в истории, но пока э. Лучшая песня - DLZ.

Here again, I'm hearing noisy rock. Disappointed.

Nothing special, and certainly not something I needed to hear before I died.

The first AI band ever recorded

Simply ok. Never really gripped me. I have no complaints but I have no positive feedback either. Not bad.

Very conflicted listen. There's a lot of elements and fusion that I think work together strongly in theory. But the album in practice just feels very disconnected and has a very harsh production that does not blend the individual parts well at all. Could be better with better production, but there are moments where it does click. Top tracks: Golden Age, DLZ

I like indie but this just wasn’t it

Good to know I wasn't missing anything by waiting to listen to this for a month or two

I like a couple of songs on here, but it just doesn't amount to much for me and blends in with a lot of alternative/pop that's out now (it's probably more of a 2.5)

Why is this album on this list??? It's listenable but absolutely bland and forgettable. 1.5/5

I found it very boring. 2 stars.

The middle of the album was pretty good. The first few songs were awful and the last few songs sucked. I almost put this in my library because with the strength of “Red Dress” I thought that would revisit the whole thing to see if I was missing anything. Then, it was one crappy song after another.

to be honest, its a really mid album fro me; i didnt care about any song in particular (except maybe DLZ but whatever). i wont rate with 1 star because it had this techno vibe that i liked but i wont rate it better than 2 stars becuase it was so meh. its an album that id listen to in a very specific occasion/mood

I’ll never, ever call Coldplay boring again… Just like The Beta Band, TV on the Radio have two albums om the list. Just like The Beta Band, there is no reason whatsoever, that TV on the Radio should appear on the list at all

Not bad, not great. Has some hints of Falming Lips and David Bowie, but not in an exciting way

Oh boy, was this long and dull.

What could I say about this one? Nothing. Probably nothing.

Why are there 2 of their albums on here?

It feels like this band could’ve been so much more instead it’s boring in every way

I don’t know how to call this. It was like a mix between nostalgia and riding in a car at with wind blowing in your hair with classical music intertwined. But also energy.

Found it kinds.boring

There are two TV On The Radio albums on this list and neither of them are "Return To Cookie Mountain" which is arguably their most significant work. If there needs to be a TV On The Radio album here it should be that one in my opinion. Doesn't really sense to me but it certainly isn't the only choice that confuses me on this list. Anyways this album is fine. Extremely average indie bullshit that was being mass-produced during this era. NEXT! Favorite track: Dancing Choose 2.5/5

this is very new to me and kinda cool?

A couple of sort of interesting things but mostly just boring and somewhat pretentious. I don’t get it. Not sure why this made the cut

This is mostly junk - there is a small bit of musicality.

This album says nothing to me (nothing good, nothing bad). Just perfect for the elevator in a stylish hotel somwhere in the world.

Nearly every song is far longer than it needs to be, it just felt like everything would be much better if it were a minute shorter.

A few good moments, but if this album came up again I’d turn it off

The vocals killed this for me. It sounded like someone trying to copy the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, a band I despise anyway, but extremely forced. This tension of "the vocalist literally can't sing" lasted the entire album, making it a pretty traumatic experience. This album is almost perfect for describing to people what I don't like in music; generic, cheesy, nothingness, talentless, bland, hipster music. I was petting my dog when "Love Dog" was playing, which gave me just enough of a smile to lift this up from 1 to 2 stars.

hipster AF

This album never really hit the mark of what it was going for in my opinion. At least that's the way my inexpert opinion feels about it.

They seem to throw everything at every song, and still something is missing. Can't explain why, but this band does nothing for me.

DLZ is a huge banger!

Noe kult men den cyber-jazzen kan du beholde ass goddamn. Hvorfor er dette et mer viktig album enn, la oss si, hvilket som helst Jungle-album? Eller Tame Impala? Eller typ Outkast? Getouttahere

Is early 00s Indie Rock the new 90s BritPop? I've had three 'current' groups pop up and I couldn't tell the difference from one to the other. 2/5

Dont know how to rate this. There were shades of great and garbage here.

este álbum no tendría que estar en esta lista ni en pedo

I'm ok never listening to this again.

No thanks

Unimpressed, a couple of lovely tracks but overall lacked cohesion

This is a spastic amalgamation of styles without any real throughline.

Defiantly interesting, but i really can't stand the indie rock vocals here, kinda hard to understand why you would need to listen to such an average piece of indie, when there are way better bands out there.

Eh, its ok. Works as background music, but nothing that strikes out at me. Dancing Choose, Golden Age, and DLZ were kinda fun though. Best song: Dancing Choose

what is a melody?

Eh. I didn't really see how it was made for this list. The artist was new to me at least, so was neat to explore new stuff.

A good listen but nothing earth shattering

First listen. Ok.

can't rate albums ai cannot listen to.

I dont get it, lots if accolades for this but I cant get on board, the drum tracks are too fast and this whole album seems like an adhd nightmare. Shout Me Out in particular was awful. Pretty varied though, I'll give it that.

Pleasant to hear, but pretty forgettable. The songs did quite differ from one another but still feels like 2010's landfill indie to me.

radiohead on clearance.

I thought I was going to like this, despite never having heard of the band. And for some songs, I did quite like it but then there were a few random songs with weird almost rapping in it, and I lost interest. So my dilemma, do I like it enough to give it 3, or am I disinterested enough to give it 2….? Answer above ⬆️

Didn’t catch my attention. First couple songs turned me off. Skipped through after that. I’ll give it two stars bc I may like it in some settings idk

Somehow sounded very generic, like background music in a commercial

I think this just isn’t my genre. Very average. Decent background music but nothing stood out. I don’t imagine I’ll be listening to this again.

iwie nichtssagend

I think the album lacks direction and a unified sound, and the quality of the songs varies a lot

I’ve listened to the album and struggling to tell if I liked it or not. By that assessment it warrants a 2

I find something slightly over-produced about this. It's alright. Couple of good tracks. I'm feeling stingy with the score today

not my cup of tea

Kinda fun and jaunty. I guess I'd call it aughts comfort folk. It just doesn't really seem like much to get excited about.

Repetitive. Skipped thru most songs. Not interested.

No standouts, but not angry at this

Pretty time appropriate indie-rock. I'm not sure why this one is on the list exactly, it doesn't really sound very different than others at the time or seem to be doing anything new. The music is decidedly _fine_ but nothing stands out as particularly special to me. The biggest sin of the album is that it feels very forgettable. I've listened through 3 times now while working, and if you played me one of the songs next week I think I'd still say I've never heard it before Standouts Lover's Day 2/5

From an album perspective there is no direction here. Songs are mixing up various styles. Some of them hitting an interesting atmosphere, some are just weird. After a while I am getting bored

#275. Unremarkable may not be the right word, but it is the first one that comes to mind. There's not even one song really that really stands out as being slightly better than the rest. There all just kinda there. 2/5: somewhat boring.

Can't even really remember it

Forgettable.

you’re gonna make me what!!?!!??

Fine but very forgettable. If I heard one of the songs again I would not recognize it.

This npr rock is a bit too weak sauce for me.

Rating: 5/10

wut o.o?

I'm not sure what I was expecting but this was not my favourite. Red Dress was a solid track but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it. Not bad just not my vibe.

1.5 - I thought this one was gonna be better than their other album, and I think it sounds a little different if I remember correctly, but it still pisses me off. I really don't like the vocals. It's pretty boring too, which gets annoying after fifty minutes. There were some songs I actively disliked parts of. It's not one of the worst albums of all time, but damn, did I not enjoy my time with it.

I respect these guys and what they're doing. I generally love sonic-collage type sounds. But where, say, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot's collage produces a resonant, lush sound, these guys' sound is flat and tinny to my ears; to the point where it quickly becomes grating. Moreover, I don't find enough coherence between the melodic ideas within each track. I bought this album when it was released - back when people did that - and I listened to it several times back then. Coming back to it, I had no memory of any of the individual tracks. Ultimately, while I respect the effort, I just don't find the music engaging.

I’m not saying instrumental albums can’t be good but this is essentially 50 mins of early 00’s action movie dvd menu music.

I need to be in a different headspace for this.

Boring

Who is this for? It’s like techno-infused rock that doesn’t make you wanna dance.

I didn’t like this. I find that I judge albums with a lot more scrutiny when they are from a genre/time period I’m more familiar with. And 2010s alt holds a very special place in my heart. I’m not sure how or why this album is chosen to represent that time and genre. This album also confuses me, because the first half is full of shrill, screechy sounds. And then the second half of the album sounds completely different (and much more listenable).

This didn’t make my jaw drop or anything, but it’s a nice sample of the better side of 2000s indie rock. I remember listening to cookie mountain years and years ago, and not enjoying it much. Did like this one just fine.

Kinda boring. Didn't chime with me when it came out and didn't this time

# 157 : Who? What? Why? - Unremarkable and forgettable Indie rock. It started off ok but after that it just melded together into sort of a nothingness. Really didn’t see what was so special about this album. I Had to skip a track or two to stay awake… Fav Track : Golden Age.

Seemed inoffensive at first, but got really annoying by the end.

Lyrics 4 Music 1

Was familiar with Half way home. I like that one. Struggled with the rest of this. I think this came out around the time I started to become an old bastard and that has a lot to do with it.

Love TVOTR but not this album.

With the exception of DLZ, this album doesn't really do it for me.

2.2 - listened 2x

First of all “Shout Me Out” is a good song, not great, just good. That’s the highlight of the album. You know when you are discussing music with friends and there is always one a**hole who picks the most obscure, pretentious band he can come up with because he heard about them from his cousin in New York. This is that band. If you like Pink Floyd you should listen to TV on the Radio. How about no. I know what you are thinking , dude you don’t get it. You are right, I don’t, and I don’t want to. Then the guy will say something like “they are redefining the genre”. Well if there was ever a genre that needed redefined this is it. Whatever you want to call it alternative/indie/electronica. I call it boring and pretentious. Next album please.

One of those albums that is so derivative of other (better) albums, that it implodes on itself. Every song had me going "Hey, this sort of sounds like [___], I sure wish I was listening to [___] right now!" ... Except for that one song that had me going "Hey, this is from Breaking Bad!!"

Not for me at all this. Can appreciate that it is well-made, but too many bells and whistles and daft noises.

Whatever genre mix this is (ethereal + ?), I don't like it. That last track can go straight into the trash. It's also all pretty forgettable. I think there was one decent sounding song, but looking over the track listing, I can't for the life of me know which one it would have been.

5/10 Should be my kind of music but the vocals are meh and already forgot every song. Does feel like it could grow on me if I listened to it again. Highlights: Halfway Home Family Tree

Dear TV On The Radio, please start playing better tunes or shut the fuck up.

46/100

What? I wrote notes on this while listening and 1001 deleted them. Annoying. Anyway, my notes on this were basically that it didn't seem to settle on any one sound and I felt like the band was playing around with different genre exercises more than they were writing songs.

A little bland.

I don't like it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. It does belong on the list. A perfect example of that horrible 2000s electronic indie sound. A warning to not ever make music like that again. Favorite song: Dancing Choose.

mittelmäßiges Songwriting kaschiert durch alle String Audio Libraries die aufgetrieben werden konnten. Fühlt sich komisch entkernt an

So bad i couldn’t Get through it

ok-ish, pretty uninteresting

Meh. 2 good songs, the rest ok. 2.75

Don't wanna give too detailed of a review, because it would date the listening time more than usual (based on current headlines vs. lyric content). But it wouldn't have been higher than a 3 regardless so I'm not that pressed.

Alright 2000s rock?

Painfully late 2000’s.

3rd song in and I feel like I'm still waiting for the album to start.

Excited for this one, a few good songs but pretty bland album overall.

some electronic, nothing special to be honest

Decent to listen to, but I have no idea why this is on the list. Didn't seem notable in any way.

Perfect example of an album that I’m sure is technically perfectly good but just isn’t my taste. I found the music mostly boring and the singer mostly annoying.

Got 3 songs in and was bored.

hated it for a while but it took a little turning point for me around Heroic Dose (the song, not my own) 2.5/5

This is a band from my era that I always ignored. After listening to this, I will continue to ignore

Reminds me of loads of other stuff - !!! most notably. The opener sounds like someone's been listening to a lot of Beach Boys. Hard to know what to say about this - it's pleasant enough, but doesn't feel like anything new. Good, but not great.

This started off sounding very cold, then the soul arrived on track 2. There was even a punk lite edge to some of the songs. It gets a little Coldplay crappy in places, then launches straight into some Chic funk on the next track. I can't be doing with all the genre bed hopping tbh. Not really my kind of thing.

It was fine but didn’t really strike me as anything special

Not the style of music that I like, wouldn’t listen to this album again.

Ok, it’s hard to know what will make the canon. Important stuff fades. Obscure stuff gets noticed. And some stuff starts a the top and stays there. So I might be wrong. But while pleasant enough I don’t see this as a must listen. Or even a yeah, might listen. I might be wrong. This might go on to be a beloved album listened to for half a century. But I doubt it.

"A bombshell: as good as it undoubtedly is, this record isn't going to change your life. Nor will it be considered an OK Computer or a Velvet Underground & Nico in ten years' time. Did it ever promise to be? Some people seemed to think so, and many still might." - Rob Webb, Drowned in Sound. It's ten years on, and I think his prediction has become true. This was the flavour the year, 2008, but do we really still need to listen to this record? It sounds great, it's smart and approachable, even if little short on real hooks and energy. 1001 Albums; I suspect this was a relatively fresh album when putting together whatever edition this went into, but I'm willing to bet it will be cut from the next edition. Just my little prediction there.

It was whatever, just one of those things that sounds like the rest of the bands but I guess they were first to do it

Musically this album is absolutely solid. Vocally though, it is awful. There were so many times it sounded like the singer was singing to completely different music and his voice overall is pretty bad.

Meh - trying to be all things to all audiences.

This album didn’t move me one millimeter.

Didn't really click with me for now. + Love Dog + Shout Me Out (reminded me of Bombs Over Baghdad, the drums, for whatever reason) Kept thinking of Flight Of The Conchords and Damon Albarn.

Not the genre I typically listen to, a few great tracks though!

2.5 This reminded me of Depeche Mode a bit with the first song, but then shifted into much more of a heavier-electronic direction (though I feel like I heard some Coldplay in there at times). Anyway, I walked away with mixed feelings on this. This style of electro-rock is generally pretty hit or miss with me, and I found that to be the case with most of the songs on this album. Sometimes it does some cool things, but other times I thought the electronic emphasis was a bit much or a tad repetitive, and honestly, I think that made the album feel kinda long. That being said, I really, really liked DLZ, both in regards to the intense, musical atmosphere it builds and from a lyrical perspective. In particular, I loved the line “But this is beginning to feel like the dog wants a bone” to close out the verse and kick off the chorus - it’s a cool line that just feels like it fits the tone of the song perfectly. Don’t have a ton of specific comments beyond that, though I will credit Lover’s Day for comparing love to cannibalism - that was a new one for me. So, that all said, this one kind of balances out to middle-of-the-road status for me.

I liked it more than I thought I would but not enough that I’d listen again.

Not interesting, meh

eletronica chatão

Just can’t get into these guys

Ugh. It's an indie album. I didn't skip any songs but I didn't really care for it. I will round up

I don't get this one at all, does very little for me.

Generic indie. Nothing memorable. Why is this album on this list?

ну как-то не туда, не сюда... не знаю что еще сказать ттцаэоащпрэыкпотпрщщырпломтрпшгыэдопщшщерщшкрпооаикпщр

The only album so far I genuinely didn't enjoy listening to (only just started this challenge). Bad vocals , some songs have good ideas but execute them in the worst way possible.

I liked Family Tree. The rest wasn't really up my alley.

þokkalegt, gæfi tvær og hálfa stjörnu ef hægt væri

Still not dead.

I’m not sure why this was on the list. Felt like it was trying to be too many things. Not awful, but not good enough to be on the list.

Not great, there was one or two songs that were ok but the rest was not my style. Seems like another experimental album with jazzy themes and strange lyrics

Good background music, not much more to say though

Very much a product of its time, but I found the melodies to be very much outdated and at times borderline annoying. Not really something I would gravitate towards and there wasn't a single song that stuck out to me. I knew one TV On The Radio song before ("Will Do") and was perhaps expecting something similar in sound, so I was a bit disappointed by this.

This had all kinds of random stuff in it. Some danceable grooves. Vocals not much to speak of. I didn't look these guys up but I'd guess...British?

Not terrible but not memorable either. I just have to shrug and wonder why this album would be here. It's nothing special to these ears.

I’m already tired of this albums generator making me listen to a band’s album that isn’t even their best album. Feels pointless. Band is good, album is mixed for me.

tja, ikke det beste førsteinntrykket kanskje

08/15. It's not bad, but it's also not special and a bit boring

Like the electronic style drum and beats, mix of dance and rock almost. Really dislike the vocals however.

no me encantó

Never heard of this, or them. About a third of the way through I'm thinking "does this fella want to be Bowie?" About a third of the way through I ponder if that he would perhaps prefer to be Prince. Then it started being pompous and orchestral, which demanded that I look up and find out if it was from the mid-2000s and yes, it just about was, released in 2008. Which is a shame. ... But hang on there. Red Dress. This is a bad song, but it is at least not the dirge/bilge of mid-2000s post britpop wankery. I don't think I am the target demographic for this album. I can find very little to redeem it. It doesn't engage me, I'm not blown away by the production and it seems pretty derivative.

Couple good songs. Lost me though.

Onpas outo. Alkuun ei herättänyt oikeen mitään fiiliksii, mutta sit ainakin Red Dress tuo ihan kivaa funkkia tähän kaiken puuduttavan indien päälle. Kaikenkaikkiaan tuntuu että bändi ei oo oikeen tiennyt mitä tekee, tai ainakin mulle kuuntelijana tää levy ei näyttäydy oikeen minkään laisena kokonaisuutena, vaan sekavana kokoelmana yksittäisiä biisejä. 2/5

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: a little? Some nice indie elements on a few tracks but not ultimately something I’d actively seek out and listen to myself. Favourite song: Track 4 - Stork & Owl

It was ok, nothing memorable on it.

Suosikkikappaleet: Crying, Dancing Choose, Love Dog

Soft Rock Melodies, sounds fun.

Boring

I can hear the inspirations but i'm also, just not super moved by it

Good band but this isn't their best.

2/5 couldn’t get into it. Reminded me of bad version of Radiohead

This album was all over the place. Only a couple of songs really stood out to me. Most of the songs felt very boring. The album doesn't seem to have a solid sound or idea its going towards and the song writing isn't anything to write home about. Some songs are pretty catchy and fun but overall the record feels bland. Favorite Track: Stork & Owl Least Favorite Track: Dancing Choose

Ok - but not sure why it in the too 1001

Ok, Non Musical Silence threw me for a loop. I thought I hit the end of the album and the next song made me jump a bit. I feel like my son would appreciate that one. Unfortunately, the silence made more of an impression on me than anything else. Every time I paused, I had "Mothers Talk" stuck in my head. Figure that out.

Dear Science is American rock band TV on the Radio's third album. It's an indie art rock album with funk and soul vibes. This album received widespread acclaim at release and was popular among critics, which surprises me since I haven't heard of either the album or band before. The music was good, but didn't engage me much. This genre or the band's signature sound must not be my cup of tea.

-meh -got boring and kind of lost interest in between songs

One of the most derivative albums I've ever heard. Very little thinking for self going on here

Never got this band and the hype, it's not bad but it's sounds at times like a bad Prince cover band.

Not my style, too edgy for me

Listened Before? N Mehhhhhhh. Not my style. Also, another generic British electronic/rap/modern rock mashup? I'm good. Added to Library? N Songs added to Playlist: DLZ

Rarely post-punk on the few guitar-centric numbers, but often the songs are overwhelmed with syrupy strings and superfluous horns.

Yay, more weirdness from the 00s, originality not entirely absent but this is nothing really new either. I thought it was going to be something more interesting because Halfway Home is a good opening track, loud and full of intent. Where did it go? Also, the lead singer can't sing, it gets annoying. 2/5 because it's not terrible.

Art-rock, indie, eksperimenterende

ive heard of em but i think i didnt like it? not realyl fair

Some potential here, but not grabbing me on first listen.

just bland

meio fracão

It was fine. It didn't do anything for me though.

Not my speed anymore with the exception of a track or two. Good walk down memory lane though

First time of listening. Not greatly impressed, got a feeling of Wayne Coyne/Flaming Lips light here. Can't see why it is on the list and wouldn't own it myself.

Coldplay lite but with really heavy loud drums

Not bad but not good. Painfully average.

ew 00s indie rock, and even worse it has pop touches. 2/5.

One or two good songs but ultimately not for me

Forgettable

Meh. This one didn't really do a whole lot for me. I didn't HATE it, but nothing on here was very memorable either. I guess it was pleasantly forgettable, but definitely didn't blow my mind. Fave track: Stork & Owl. Artsy, fun, and a vibe. Enjoyed that track a lot. Normally I rate "meh" albums with three stars, but I'm subtracting a star punitively because having an entire album track that just consists of silence is insufferably pretentious, in a first-college-boyfriend sort of way.

Couldn't get into this. Little stood out.

I hate rating systems cuz i always change mine and compare too often ie. If so and so got a 3 then this isnt as good should get a 2 yadda yadda.. so from now on its gonna be 1- bad, 2- ok, 3- good, 4- great, 5- classic. This is a 2. Theres some good stuff and some really not good stuff.

Enjoyed it. Nothing special idk

No le encontré pies ni cabeza. No me gustó el sonido y en general este disco no me enganchó para nada. 1.5 estrellas que suben a 2 porque no es horrible, tampoco fue una tortura, simplemente no me gustó.

I like “Wolf Like Me,” but it’s not on this album. DLZ is ok. This sounds like low-rent Prince or something. Also, the mix sounds off. Like I’m not hearing all the instruments.

Initially this does not seem like my type of music

Pretty dull

TV On The Radio's Dear Science is more of an indie/electro/rock style of an album. Not sure why it was classed as the best album of 2008 by a number of major publications, considering things like Kanye's "808s & Heartbreak" and Kings of Leon's "Only by the Night" were out the same year. Best: Family Tree Worst: Lover's Day

So so, happy idiot and wolf like me rocks as #SINGLES

Good but probably wouldn't listen to again.

Meh...fine as background music but nothing particularly notable or exciting

It's almost good. Not the type of music I'd listen to again... I could see it working as background music.

Liked the music. Didn’t care for the Volga list or the lyrics

Top Pick: Crying This one wasn't really my jam, only listened to the first half. I enjoyed the instrumentation of a couple tunes and the backing band were pretty tight but I didn't really dig the singer's vibe.

Not very good! I could maybe see some parts of it being good if the singer could sing worth a damn or if the songs were recorded in a style or something but to me, a lot of this album was unsalvageable. Pretty bad. Mostly. I don't think I needed to hear this before I died.

First Listen. Never heard of them before. Definitely a sound I like. Very enjoyable album. I'll listen to this one again. 2/5 for now.

‘Shout me Out’ has really grown on me after 2/3 plays but most of the rest feels disjointed & unharmonious, & the songs phase very awkwardly. 2008 must have been a very thin year if this was one of the top albums

This fucking sucked to be honest. There was nothing interesting or enjoyable about it. Not sure why it is on this list. 2 stars.

Didn’t really do it for me.

There were a couple moments on this album that I enjoyed, but it generally wasn't for me and I felt like it was about a third too long (maybe I'm spoiled by the length limit of the old LPs we've been dealt the most so far, where they're all coming in at under ~45 minutes); I had to take a break in the middle of this album (sometimes I do that anyway) and listen to some Disney tunes before coming back to it LOL

just because it's more palatable than most post-punk doesn't mean it's any good.

I really enjoyed the instruments in this album. However, I really did not enjoy the vocals in it. The singer mainly just "say-sung" through most of the songs. It didn't match up very well in my opinion. However, on songs he was actually singing on, it sounded great. Favorite track: Shout Me Out

A bit too Prince lite at times but some of the more indie focused numbers are interesting listens. "Stork and Owl" is great.

New band to me, not my cup of tea either, too heavy on the programming.

opener is very 2008 skins, decent but does nothing for me and I can't even remember hearing this which I undoubedtly did at the time but I do like the mostly instrumental outro like the music but nothing special "While Zion's behavior never gets mentioned" but this lyric could be from any decade in the last 70 years i feel i would love these songs in a film score on on a tv show more to give them more meaning they lack on their own the band should be called music on tv not tv on radio. i do like the music, violins, cellos, keyboard/piano along with usual guitar, bass and drums. good music, innovensive vocals and lyrics and appreciate it for the use of cello/violin strings which is not overly common in pop music especially of this era Family Tree is probably the best song and if I heard it as the backdrop to a film/tv show about a black couple or a gay couple etc it would probably pop more but still a great song. Red Dress I wish the album was more like this "When the man cracks the whip And you'll all shake your hips And you'll all dance to this Without making a fist" 2 - not for me but doesn't hurt my ears but could possibly be a 3 as I might listen again as the later part of the album intrigued me a bit

not my style at all.

I’m giving this a 2 just because they are one of my all time favs and this is my least fav album of theirs. Starts off great and then they try too hard with the spoken word rapping bits. Beautiful horn instruments throughout tho.

Didn't like it that much... it was okay. 2/5 stars.

You dont have a friend in me

Very nothing special

OK. Didn't hear anything special.

Surprised this on here.

Agree with Andy and Sean. Seems a little all over the place.
