It was okay, definitely not my favorite though.

Ein weiteres Album, mit dem TV On The Radio es leider nicht auf meine Senderliste geschafft haben.

I see what they're trying to do here, and it's not the worst I've heard, but it's not particularly well-executed either. The album opens with Halfway Home, which sounds very Joy Division-esque, but somehow less exciting. The tracks sound like gray noise until you get to Red Dress which breaks out into really what reminds me of the type of rap they try to put in Anime music. It's not good. At the very least, the songs that Spotify plays after this is filled with Arcade Fire, The Shins, and Local Natives, all of which I love. I'm just not really thrilled with this offering.

Har ett svagt minne av att TOR var högt upp på någon av Sonics årsbästalistor. Blev nyfiken på att lyssna då men det är först nu det verkligen blir av. Har tydligen inte missat särskilt mycket. Ordinär 00-talspop. Och vi vet alla att 00-talet inte var det starkaste decenniet om vi ska leta musikaliska mästerverk. Svag sång och allt för ofta trist Coldplayproduktion. När det sen ska bli funkigt som i Red dress vill jag helst av allt stänga av. Det är finns spår som inte är lika dåliga, men inte direkt några som är bra.

I couldn’t get through this one. The singing was just awful. Felt like the lead thought they could do this high pitched whinny style and then proceeded to do that the entire album. 1/10

I don’t understand why this is on the list. This was flavor of the month stuff from 18 years ago and has had no lasting impact. The listeners are much lower than other bands of the time which shows that this has come and gone.

mehhhh. only liked about 2 or 3 songs. everything else was a bit annoying. did not like the vocals. the instruemtnals and production were solid. but i dont think i'd go back and listen to this again. halfway home was my fave of the album. 3/10

Another album that simply is just not very good. So you read the Wiki page in hopes of understanding and it starts by saying how its sold a whooping 200k copies - I’m just speechless how this shit makes the list.

first three songs would all be skips for me and already make me regret this. lyrics are not hitting for me the backing doesn't sound like anything special and I have nothing positive to say about the instrumentation. I did not enjoy this album.,

Dårligt album, ved ikke hvorfor jeg lyttede det hele vejen igennem, når jeg vidste på anden sang, at jeg ikke ville synes om det.

desperate youth, bloodthirsty babes was interesting and weird but not my cup of tea, this is just some barely-more- interesting-than-average indie rock with some pretty consistently aggravating vocals

This DID NOT work for me. There were times when I heard a bad mix emo and alt/pop. Other times it sounded like a terrible Prince ripoff. Overall, I didn’t like a single song.

43/1001 Forty-plus albums in, and so far I have not been blown away by albums I have never heard of or encountered at all before. This is nowhere near as awful as some other long-players I've had to endure. Run-of-the-mill electronic indie, at its best coming off like Beck-lite, at its worst like the soundtrack to a 90s commercial which produces a one-hit wonder band you've now forgotten the name of. The vocals don't really work for me, annoying semi-rap, all fake attitude and evocative of something else already done far better by someone else. Dear Science tries to be many things, but excels at none of them, and just isn't very cool or authentic sounding. Compared to others I have encountered on this list thus far, at least there is some semblance of melodic content and interesting moments of musicality. Still only one star, and I doubt I'll listen to it ever again by choice, but by no means the bottom of the barrel.

why was this so bad?

I just don't get the appeal unfortunately. I'm all for experimental stuff and it's these types of albums that probably should make the list due to their uniqueness, but it just didn't click. I don't like the production, the synth, and hated the vocals.

The third track made me wonder if they were behind the “Threat Level Midnight” theme song.

Honestly, I thought this was pretty terrible

"Stork & Owl" was probably the most interesting track on this album. The rest didn't do a damn thing for me at all.

It was just boring, the first song lasted to long, and from there i wasn't interested in listening to the rest of the album, I did but it did not get better. I can't name any song that was interesting.

I went in with no expectations and was still let down. This is bad, just straight up boring.

2008. rated album of the year by some. why havent I hear of it? I play their best of... / most popular in descending order. nothing for me today. Tidy, atmospheric, but the vocals dont light me up. Boring boy music? So I tried not to dismiss them. I listened all the way through GOLDEN AGE. Nothing.

It was a chore for me to get through this album; not one song peaked the interest of my ears.

Terrible vocals, obnoxious shitty falsetto, obnoxious music, stupid lyrics. The songs aren't even catchy. Wow I hate this album, maybe the worst one on this list so far.

Volle Deckung! Hipster Blendgranate !!! Ein Pop Album, das nicht viel verkehrt macht, aber mich so unterkühlt zurücklässt, dass ich erstmal einen Ingwer-Shot brauche. Es ist nicht so, dass Konzept, Instrumentalisierung und Struktur per se kacke ist, ich kaufe ihnen nur keinen Millimeter ihres selbstgefälligen Pathos’ auf diesem (dritten) Album ab. Ähnlich verachtenswert ist diese ostentative „Kulgscheisserei“ beim Bandnamen, die mir zu Zeiten von „Starring at the sun“ oder „Wolf like me“ noch nicht aufgestoßen war. Und so bin ich im Prozess ihres Werdens als Follower verloren gegangen, aber Haldern bleibt solch smarten Tierchen immer treu-saftige Headliner Weide. *yawny 1.0
