Reviews (page 13 of 13)
It just sounded like noise to me. I really don't like when the vocals are too chill for the amount of noise I'm being subjected to.
meh, made very little impression
This just does nothing for me. A lot of the reviews note that the Foo Fighters helped folks get over the loss of Nirvana. Well, I can appreciate that, but whereas Nirvana were cutting edge and interesting and different, this is generic and same-same. I didn't like them when they first came out and changed the radio station when they came on, and I still feel that way. 2/5
Not as rocky or fast as I remember. 2 stars
Mr. Grohl seems like a great dude, and I do feel bad about the heartbreak he's endured, but to my ears his bland-ass butt rock may as well be made with dog whistles.
A little puzzled by its presence on this list. There are a couple of standout tracks here, but this isn't even one of the best Foo Fighters albums, let alone one of the best albums ever. It's a blueprint of better things to come, sure, but hardly essential.
no lasting impression
Not crazy about it. Hopefully some newer FF albums turn up on here. Or I could just listen on my own initiative, shocker. Standout track: Good Grief
It’s alright but probably won’t be re listening to any of the songs
Nirvanesque - manque un peu d'identité, certains morceaux cools.
Too rowdy for me.
Just not my thing. 4/10
A dad band is born. I actually quite like Foo Fighters but I find this record repetitive and underbaked - maybe would have been a better EP, particularly considering it’s a one-man-band feat.
I had never heard any of these Foo Fighters songs before and never care to hear them again
Kinda crazy that he recorded the whole thing on his own. Not a big foo fighters fan, definitely an “every song sounds the same” band for me.
Was never into grunge Listened to a few songs then shut it off
Same song with 10 different titles.
Not quite as awful as I thought it would be.
It’s aight I guess. Was a little intrigued by it being the bridge from the grunge era, and the fact that Grohl did everything on it. But I just wasn’t hooked.
Still not really into the Foo Fighters
to stjerner
Pretty uninteresting but at the same time fun?
i mean…. it was ok
Great album in “the story of grunge” historical/sentimental way, but lyrically very scattered and unintentional, admittedly so by Dave Grohl. Lastly, a rather poor recording quality.
I’ll stick around is very bare bones grunge/alt rock - bit too basic for me. Enjoy Big Me more than the opening 2 tracks Alone + easy - not into it Good Grief - hate this one lol Floaty - nah 3/10 - not for me
I like Dave Grohl as a drummer in Nirvana. As a one-man band, however, he is... impressive. The energy in Nirvana is here in its raw form. But let's be real, this is kinda bland. I understand why it can be cathartic after Cobain's death, but it sounded like grunge is lost and is finding a new direction here.
I've got to admit that I've tried this album quite a few times over the past decade and a half...but I've never 'got' it. You're started with a wall of noise, but the album rapidly becomes less than the sum of its parts. It just doesn't hang together as an album, despite many of that tracks on it being quite good. I understand the legacy of it. But it doesn't fit together. And that's a shame.
I was familiar with some of the songs. The album really wasn't that good and it reached a point when it needed to end. I may revisit one or two of the songs again, but that is unlikely.
It’s perfectly average, doesn’t do anything for me. Glad it exists but I’d be alright to not go back to it.
I don't think Foo fighters really does it for me. I wasn't really giving them an honest listen as the volume wasn't high. Their affect on music is significant but not so much on me.
i respect Dave; but a bedroom solo album from him isn't my bag
2.5. Average
Never a fan of the band. A bit disappointing after how amazing Nirvana were.
Sounds like very generic rock music. I liked some of their acoustic stuff on in your honor disc two. Seen them live twice which was actually pretty fun.
Had a couple good songs but the bad definitely outweighed the good. I am very torn between 2 and 3 for this one but I think 2 is my final answer.
i don’t have many notes on this album, like yesterday it’s not really my style. i prefer more upbeat or feel good music. something a little more feminine. this was too grungy and not very exciting to me.
I like Dave Grohl. I don't like Foo Fighters
I thought I would totally hate it, but mostly found it fairly inoffensive with a couple songs that I thought were good. Gotta love Dave Grohl as a person of course, but Foo Fighters has always been a little generic sounding for my taste
Incredibly dull, 3rd-rate late-era REM b-sides sung by someone with a voice better suited to silent movies. I get Dave Grohl is a "great guy" but this music is terrible and their popularity is so perplexing. Most songs would be rejected by a high school garage band - but this is not even awful enough to be distinguished as a one star album. Go away
Always felt this album was a bit overrated. I like future Foo Fighter albums a bit more than this one. I do find it amazing that Dave Grohl is such a talented songwriter but never tried anything in Nirvana. 2.5/5
poo fighters
Has been.
I was bored late one night in Austin, and I went to Wal-Mart and bought this CD. I reckon it only took me a week or so to sell it back to Sound Exchange. It's pleasant, I guess.
I always wish I liked the Foo Fighters more based on the seemingly fun personalities of Dave Grohl and the other band members, but they are just not for me. I am consistently underwhelmed, especially with the vocals
Meh
this album fucking sucks
It was fine I guess? Surprisingly bland for the debut album of such a massively succesful band. Not terrible, but really all blended together into one mush.
not my vibe
First song is great. The rest of it isn’t.
I thought I would enjoy this one, but about 10 mins in I gave up on it, I just found it unimaginative and kinda dull
like, okay. not much to say, did not really do much for me.
The 90s were like this....edgy with a decent back beat. Today was not a 90s day.
It's the foo fighters... Sounds like the foo fighters
Inoffensive generic rock and roll, with vocals that Dave sings 3 octaves too high. Nothing "bad" but most certainly nothing "great". Highlight Tracks: 2, 7, 9, 11
Definitely not the best Foo album
Very bored.
It's allright but not for me. Perhaps the best song is "This is a call".
I own this, do I need to listen again? It was fine when it came out, but horrendously overplayed. "Good Grief" still holds up though.
Bah never liked these guys
Average rock album lol
I feel Foo Fighters should be right up my alley, but they just... aren't.
it's the foo fighters, but not my jam
hmmm
This is very rock. Nothing I'd listen to today. Trying to listen to it in the context of coming out one year after Kurt died. Big Me bringing the nostalgia big time. :) Like I wonder if Nirvana fans were like "....wut...." the first time they listened to this. By Wattershed I was ready to stop listening to this album.
Meh.
noisy
Good in parts and a pretty easy listen from start to finish. But overall a bit bland and mostly forgettable.

Really see the Nirava, good but a little too grunge for me
Singles band, and a painfully generic singles band at that. Basically every song on here is indistinguishable from one another and from a lot of other rock of the time. Also Dave Grohl is a huge piece of shit
Not for me
Kako loše, ne mogu. Ne znam tko sluša ovo aktivno, evo stvarno ne kužim. 1/5, 1/10
I can obviously imagine why Grohl decided to record this album entirely by himself, but it does make every song sound like a demo; a sketch without any of the energy or chemistry between players that would go into a solid rock track. But to be fair the songs themselves, putting all that aside, are also lifeless and shit.
No me gusto
I like the Foo Fighters, but this album was so meh. Surprised me. But I still like the Foo Fighters.
Ugh this is so dull.
There are worse 1 stars but it’s just not for me
The album sucked, I rlly did give a try at first and it was bad, then I gave it another and it was awful. It was so bad I had to turn it off and go for a walk.
Foo Fighters are rock with a lower case R. Generic and mostly boring. Had a hard time making it threw da hole bit.
Dave Grohl loves to be like “I never even took music lessons” yeah buddy we can tell.
I'll tell my children this is what the music from the Bronze sounded like
a little too aggressive for my tastes. struggled to find a winner track. actually .. ick... hated it. I know there's at least one Foo Fighters song I like but not here.
This sucks ass
Who could have guessed at the time that the Foo Fighters would one day become the most popular milquetoast rock band in the world?
Surprisingly not that great. I like their other songs but never listened to their first album.
Okay, there's something about the foo fighters that i distinctly don't like. i don't know what it is, I don't really know why. I'm so ready to be done with this but im gonna give it a couple of chances and listen to a coouple of songs. 1. Lame, noise. I don't think dave grohl is such an interesting singer, his voice is forgettable. 2. noise noise noise 3. Okay this one is kind of like a bit of beatles thing? It's not terrible. okay, they've bought themselves one more song. 4. ugh, just noise again. Im giving up, i hate this band. The blonde drummer was hot but thats the only saving grace SORRRRYYYYY
i just don’t get it
Listenable but it feels like music meant to be forgotten about: background music.
Not good.
no
I do not care for the music of the Foo Fighters. Just so mediocre. They belong in the same category as U2. Just a waste of resources. The same way AI making music is a waste of resources. They are a fine bar band that no one outside of a 50km radius needed to hear about.
Budget Nirvana. And given that Nirvana were a budget version of US hardcore and heavy rock, this sounds like a bit of a race to the bottom.
nej tack
not a fan
I enabled editing just it go back and give this a 1. In hindsight, it’s insulting for this album to be among the others in this list. It’s boring while masquerading as hard rock. I usually would not want to judge someone for the things they enjoy, but if someone told me this were their favorite album, I would have a lower opinion of them and not trust their taste in anything. I just… hate this.
An important album for the legacy of Dave Grohl, great songs but nothing groundbreaking. 1 - shouldn't be on this list
too much noise that just doesnt sound good together. their music is blunt, especially in this album. they have some pearls like "everlong" and "the pretender", but its not much. their not the typa band to listen their whole albums.
Never listened to this before. Never will again
Butt rock
Not really my kind of music
Foo Fighters are a singles band. Foo Fighters are made for festivals. Every album has a few hits and that’s all you need. Here it’s the first three tracks. It is impressive Grohl did everything on the album and I like that it’s less polished than what follows, it’s very 90’s indie/grunge. I don’t think this album or this band should be one this list.
Meh. Weenie Beenie is it.
Did not like, just noise
Why is this on here lol
more like the Boo Fighters
2/10 Foo Fighters have always left me cold - listening to them just makes me feel like an old man baffled by how this music could be popular with anyone, despite it being a product of a year before I was born. Only the slightly slower numbers really demonstrated any semblance of musical merit to me: 'Floaty' and 'Big Me'. Even then, I'd happily never listen to any of these songs again. Listens: 1
This album wavers between being so incredibly bland to borderline unlistenable. All songs sound the same.
I’d like to give this a passing score, but I just can’t. This seemed sloppy, and disjointed. Vocals were completely drowned out on many of the tracks. If the production was better I would consider this more. Since it’s not, I’m giving it a
Very 90s. Very alternative. Very not for me.
Dull
Nice guys making nice music. Barf.
Nah. Some good moments are good, but bad moments are all over the place and so annoying and neutralizing anything good about listening experience.
Eh. Not my cup of tea.
Great high school band!
I've just never liked the Foo Fighters
Oh my goodness. Tedious, bland, sophomoric. Sometimes it sounded like boring Nirvana. Terrible guitar work. Almost gave up during ‘Exhausted’ and I thought it was finally getting good… but it was just Spotify auto-playing Blink-182.
It’s giving high school talent show
I never liked the Foo Fighters and this album changed nothing about that. They're a soulless, mediocre rock group that have long since overstayed their welcome. No track on their debut has any flair, nor any personality. Just some screeching guitars and distortion. Nothing interesting. With tracks sounding so similar, I even found it hard to distinguish between songs
I hate it.
I have never listened to this album in its entirety before but I know almost every song on here, entirely against my will. Just derivative beige song after derivative beige song after derivative beige song. I hate it so so much.
I'm not a fan of the Foo Fighters. I can't think of any song they have had out I think is worthy of a listen. It isn't they are bad, it's just I find them average. I forgot Grohl recorded this entire album on his own playing. It's too long, sounds like rehashed Nirvana, and generally fairly bland. I suppose there could be a great FF album to be on this list, but I definitely don't think it's this one.
One good song.
Half of the songs just sounded like whining to me
Фу
Dreary, tuneless dishwater stodge. Unless you have run out of melatonin I don’t understand the appeal at all.
Foo fluff meh
Washed out, dragging, boring Garage Rock.
gotta be one of the worst albums i ever heard
Not for me.
booooooo
eh, def feels like 90s grunge, though this was a bit lacking in punch and depth - like a c-tier nirvana
Ok I missed this one but having a cursory listen it’s not for me!
'this is a call' - catchy. great chorus(es). vocals a little grating but typical for the genre. whinier than expected, only really enjoy that in skramz/emo. 'ill stick around' - MUCH better. catchy guitar riff in the chorus, and much better lyrics. 'big me' - a little boring, but i do like the airiness of the track. softer guitar. getting a weird beach boys vibe from this? 'alone + target' - ok this is a little better than TIIAC but these songs are starting to blur together a little bit. 'good grief' - the start intrigued me far more than anything else has so far. dear god i actually like this. a lot more fast-paced, maybe a little punk influence in the guitar. i think i just hate this guys singing 'floaty' - this track is if jeff buckley kind of sucked a little. meh 'weenie beenie' - everything is blurring again. theres only so many times you can have a chorus of the same thing. this was much more aggressive and yet felt so soulless. 'oh george' - okay now this is better than the previous track. im ignoring the realisation that it sounds like something directly off the sonic adventures soundtrack. much more solid. 'for all the cows' - man what. 'x-static' - by this point im already sighing by the time the next track plays in this album. get away from the microphone. this album smells warm and damp. 'wattershed' - Ugh 'exhausted' - no comment. Ok. thank god its over i am never listening to this again
Foo Fighters is actually pretty lame. I think they accidentally made Everlong, like it was good by mistake, and then every other song they’ve made is dorky.
I remember this album from middle school. Or high school. Whichever. Pretty stoked that Nirvana's drummer was going to carry on and the first single was pretty decent. Then the next single wasn't. Then there was the kinda cute video aping the Mentos commercials but the song wasn't really all that great. Borrowed the album from a friend and was pretty disappointed altogether. Maybe they just needed to get the bad stuff out because the next album was pretty great.
Liked one song
Fav: Good Grief Least Fav: Weenie Beani Supremely boring and generic, was very happy for this to end. Dave Grohl can’t sing
Not great. Could not get through it.
nirvana wannabes...not even close to the talent.
Heavy rock band. One hit wonder. Not impressed with most of their music.
Not as good as I thought it was going to be. Nothing to draw you in.
i just dont like foo fighters
It’s mid. Honestly the story behind the album is very neat, with Grohl performing the entire album himself, but it’s a little needlessly noisy and generally uninspired imo. I won’t come back to it, and it’s neat only in novelty
To me it all sounded the same. There was one song that I thought was ok - but not worth my time / effort to find out which one. I never got the whole Nirvana 'grunge' thing at the time (in my opinion all the songs sounded almost exactly the same) and this was, to my ears, just a slightly heavier version of the grunge sound. Good work on Grohl for doing it all himself - I'm just not a fan.
Never liked them; still don't
Not an album I wanted or needed to listen to

NO! Grunge
1 Star (2/15)
Reminds me of how I need to live a Live Mas Mentality. This is Josh. No stars.
Sounds awful, loud/tin-y, the last track has consistent buzzing noise/interference noise which is unbearable
I really didn't enjoy this. I expected going in to like it given that I've enjoyed some of their later work but somehow none of this gelled with me and just sounded kinda noisy.
A travesty. Dave Grohl should be skinned alive for the fucking Food.
I’m glad Dave did well for himself.
If Rock and Roll was a color, Foo Fighters would be beige.
ugh...generic store brand rock. But hey some people really like Dr. Thunder.
God, I can’t stand Dave Grohl’s voice. I don’t know why. He’s obviously a great drummer. This is just nothing. It does nothing for me. I don’t hear a hint of originality. I’m sorry.
Awful
Actually really enjoyed the experience of listening to this with the knowledge of what comes later. Like a little silly fun album. Apparently he wrote the lyrics twenty mins before recording, love it. Just dudes being bros making some songs. Anyway, shouldn't be on this list.
Did not listen, very biased by my own personal experience listening to the radio and other reviews.
I don’t like Foo Fighters
dave fucking grohl. what a weapon. he's the type of guy that would give himself the tagline of nicest guy in rock. i still to this day can't understand why no one has noticed that he's just really american. stick a tv camera in front of most americans and they instantly know how to do an interview and be generally nice and positive. now he's got the nickname its part of his sales pitch and self preservation to ham it up. i've got his number though, i can see through it. he's just a straight up bell end. he worked out the formula for generic rock and has churned out the same shit ever since. he's the american Bono. this is my impression of a foo fighter song. gonna sing some quiet now gonna sing some quiet. shout, shout, shouty shout shout shout. heeeyyyy. i bet you did that in his voice. this album is as good as it ever got for them. i could probably have listened to it all the way through if there was a diferent singer but i just can't fucking stand his voice.
Still no
