It was a pretty generic, but some songs were really good. N.Y. was my favorite 2.5 /5
Not really what I had in mind for the top 1001 albums
Nothing more rock n roll than marrying your 13 year old cousin at the age of 22
I can hear how this influenced bands I like today which is cool. Didn't know this was the Come On Eileen band. 4/5
If I took a hit of acid and put on Aumgn there is no telling where I would end up. 5/5
I can see how this is a seminal album in the hip hop genre, but its not my favorite. There is a style of hip hop just after this in the later 90's that I like more. The beats are simpler and more jazz influenced and the rap has a little more rhythm. Shut em down was my favorite on the album. 3.5 / 5
It was really good, probably ahead of its time, but too mellow throughout for me. 3/5
Liked the album and it's fun to hear where all the post-punk bands I regularly listen to come from. 4/5
It's an interesting amalgamation of genres, but it made it hard for me to really get into it. 2/5
So relaxing and easy to listen to. 4/5
Jazzy beats, playful laid back lyrics. Ali Shaheed Muhammad is a legend. Needs more Phife Dawg. 4/5
I was going to give this 2 stars because they tried, but then I remembered I gave The Band 2 stars and they are way better than this. 1/5
Pretty good. Sounds like a precursor to Britpop. Album cover would give Marco Rubio a conniption which is a plus. 3/5
Solid rock / punk rock. 3.5 / 5, but I can't round up to 4 on this one.
Have to be in the mood, but if you are its awesome. Giving it 3/5 because while I like it the times I would listen are limited.
Its hard for me to give jazz albums more than a 3 because my setting is key to my enjoyment, but in a on-the-laptop-at-work context I'm loving these jazz albums. 3/5 except when at work 5/5.
Pressed play assuming it was going to be 3 stars, but I forgot how much I liked this album back in the day. Some classics on here. Shame the rest of their career is meh. 4/5
One of the few QOTSA albums I haven't listened to. Pretty good, but compared to my staples, not one of their best. 3/5
I want to like it, and sometimes I do. 3/5
If I was on a farm in Sonoma County I think I would be into it. 2/5
This album could have come out yesterday. Sounds fresh and I love the variety of songs. 4/5
I'm a little torn on this one. I really liked it, but is it a 4? I want to say its like a 3.8, but at that point might as well round up. 4/5
This album is very nostalgic for me, but lets be honest, its not great. 3/5 for the memories
Trippy album cover, awesomely weird music. 4/5
Like it a lot more than I expected. Would I put it on again? Unclear. 3/5
I like the new direction Blur went on this record. This along with Parklife are probably their best albums. I would say something like 3.7 but gonna round up because Blur is awesome. 4/5
There are bands I listen to today that have this same rambling style such as The War on Drugs, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Courtney Barnett etc. Never listened to a ton of Bob Dylan, but its cool to hear his influence on music I listen to today. 3/5
I liked it. It wasn't as interesting to me as maybe it was intended to be. 3/5
Pretty raw rock n roll which I an appreciate it, but really not that interesting to me. 2/5
I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting. Some of the songs on this album are so smooth and infectious. The songs People Everyday, Natural, and Washed Away really stuck out to me. That said, some other songs don't hold up to father time. Thinking of Children Play With Earth thru Give A Man A Fish. 3/5
Love The Smiths. The latter part of the album is not my favorite, but the rest more then makes up for it. Great album to go out on.. 4/5
It was fine. In my limited exposure to jazz this is not my favorite 2/5
As far as country goes it was good. 2/5
Love this album and its clever use of samples. Ground breaking stuff at the time, but it just drags on a little too much for me in some places. A Different Feeling into Electricity is the best part of this album. 4.5 but cant get to 5. So 4/5
I was confused by this album. The rhythm seemed to be all over the place. Maybe it was a case of the wrong place wrong time. I’ll listen to it again in the future. 2.5 / 5
Hits front to back. Classic album. 100/100
Good live album. There were some songs I know and like that I would have never guessed were Peter Frampton, but maybe thats just me being music illiterate if it came before the 90s 3/5
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great album, but for its genre. Not what I expected from 1001 albums 3/5
I mean, it's a solid album, but nothing groundbreaking. 3/5
Ehh not for me but not as bad as UB40 2/5
I'm glad I didn't grow up in the 50s 2/5
Maybe if it wasn't a double album. I liked most of it, but some parts of felt languished 3/5
Not really my style of hip hop, but extra points for Oakland 3/5
Liked it more than I thought I would. Some pretty interesting stuff in this album
I dont know, I was kind of bored? Music was good, but nothing really grabbed my attention in two listens. Maybe future listens will change my mind 2/5
I dont know maybe Portola has ruined me for a bit, but I thought this was just fine. 2/5
I dont know, it was fine. I wont listen to it again, but I enjoyed the hour 2.7/5 so I'll go 3/5
I really liked this. Might be a time and place thing, but her piano play and emotion in her voice really stuck out to me. I would put it at like 3.4, 3.5, so I'll say 3/5
I was excited after listening to Joshua Tree but this is meh. 2/5
Seems fine. Do people like Led Zeppelin or something? 3/5
Great beats that all kind of sound the same and not my favorite lyrics or style of rhyme. But, It's heavily influential on the hip hop I love and listen to regularly so thats worth an extra star. 4/5
I really enjoyed that. Based on the rock music I listen to today this felt like a melting pot of genres. 4/5
It's hard because I love this album but I hate who Kanye has become. I'm just gonna be neutral and say 3/5
Again, I think I like it? Not as impressive as the last one and way too long for me to make it all the way through. 2/5 because I lost interest before the end
Often overlooked because of Kid A, but a great album in its own right. Some Radiohead classics on this album. Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, Knives Out, I Might Be Wrong. 4/5
I can't. Not as bad as ub 40 though. I liked Cajun Woman 2/5
It was good. Didn't seem that special, but I also didn't read about it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 3/5
Dont make me like you, Flaming Lips 3.5/5 so 3/5
Great start to the album but kind of petered out toward the end. Overall was pleasantly surprised. 3.5 / 5 so I'll go 3/5
Couldn't get through it. Cool guitars. 1/5
It's like arena rock meets punk? Kinda weird, but there is enough there for me. 3/5
Extra star because Smoke On The Water was the first riff I learned to play when I was learning how to play an guitar and then bass 3/5
Yeah, I get it. His voice is not for me 3/5
Kinda sounds like a bad version of good electronic music 2/5
I really liked this. It was fun, interesting, and every song felt like its own unique piece of a larger puzzle. 4/5
It's incredibly uninteresting 1/5
Yeah good. The singles are obviously the best songs, but overall pretty solid 90's rock 3/5
Its like Britpop meets Shoegaze and I'm here for it
It was a pretty generic, but some songs were really good. N.Y. was my favorite 2.5 /5
Music that I like while not being all that interesting. 2/5
Heard this album in Rs500 and I'm not going to do it again. It was fine, a little dull, with some really good parts. 3/5
Some good, some not so good. I would give it 2.5 if I could 2/5
I watched the tik tok video and enjoyed myself. 3/5
Not my favorite smiths album, but still pretty good. I want to do 3.5 or something, but I'm rounding up in this case :) 4/5
I really enjoyed this. I think jazz has been my favorite genre discovery while listening to these albums. 4/5
I think I liked it? The record was over and I didn't really have thoughts either way 3/5
Liked it more than I thought I would 3/5
Little too early in its development as a genre for me, but I can see how this influenced James Murphy's earlier work 3/5
Listened to this in RS500. I thought it was good, but nothing really blew me away 3/5
Met Guru randomly on the street at SXSW. Someone in front of me recognized him and a few us took turns saying hello. Really nice guy and awesome music. One of my favorites from this era 4/5
What a journey through many genres all at once. 4/5
I dont care if people think its repetitive and boring, this music is awesome and it came out in friggin 1977! 4/5
Love The Chronic. Runs a little long for me, but cant deny its impact on west coast and rap in general. $20 sack pyramid is my favorite skit 4/5
I really liked this. Interesting song writing and mix of genres. I would probably say 3.5/5 3/5
Love this album. I'm going 5 because there was a period of time where i listened to this once a day 5/5
I thought I liked it but then it became background noise 3/5
It really wasn't that interesting and the orchestra wasn't providing a ton to the show 2/5
Delightfully odd 4/5
I enjoyed listening to it, but I wont be playing it again 3/5
Not my favorite but extra star for playing Walon in The Wire 3/5
It took me a second listen, but I actually really like this. The song writing is interesting and reminds me a little of early Radiohead 4/5
I tried and I wanted to like it, but I could not
I've heard of Jeru, but never listened to him before. I really like this album and it's another sign of how good the 90s New York hip hop scene was. 4/5
Very pleasant listening for a rainy day like today! 4/5
Way more of a jam than I was expecting, but I really only knew their huge singles before this. I would say 3.5 if we could give half stars, but I'm going to settle on 3 stars because its unlikely I listen to this more than once or twice 3/5
A really good album with some instant classics. I'm a blond guy though.
Enjoyed listening and she is clearly talented, just not something I would listen to daily. 3/5
Probably dont need 2 hours of this, but a great album nonetheless. I had listened to this once before and it didn't stick, but a second time through proved to the sweet spot 4/5
This album is proof The Roots can do anything, but it doesn't hit the same heights as their best work. 3/5
I really like this album. For whatever reason I haven't been able to get into more U2 than Joshua Tree, but I always enjoy listening to this one. 4/5
Credit for trying something new and paving the way for future generations, but this was a little too raw for me 2/5
Probably good for a country album, but not good to my ears. 1.5/5
This was a pleasant listen and something fresh from the normal albums on this list 3.5 / 5
The c the h the e the m the i the c the a the l the brotherrrrs! 5/5
It was ok. I couldn't make it through the whole record, but the first half or so is decent 2/5
Some amazing highs, but a little bloated for me 3.5/5
It was good. Good tunes and overall enjoyed my time, but nothin more than 3 stars 3/5
