Started off good, but then ran out of steam. Sort of generic and not worth a spot on this list

Hippy butt rock 6/10
Screaming Trees
2/5
Not really what I had in mind for the top 1001 albums
Jerry Lee Lewis
4/5
Nothing more rock n roll than marrying your 13 year old cousin at the age of 22
Dexys Midnight Runners
4/5
I can hear how this influenced bands I like today which is cool. Didn't know this was the Come On Eileen band. 4/5
Queen
5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed. 5/5
Can
5/5
If I took a hit of acid and put on Aumgn there is no telling where I would end up. 5/5
Public Enemy
3/5
I can see how this is a seminal album in the hip hop genre, but its not my favorite. There is a style of hip hop just after this in the later 90's that I like more. The beats are simpler and more jazz influenced and the rap has a little more rhythm. Shut em down was my favorite on the album.
3.5 / 5
Air
3/5
It was really good, probably ahead of its time, but too mellow throughout for me.
3/5
The Band
2/5
Just not a folk guy. 2/5
The Fall
4/5
Liked the album and it's fun to hear where all the post-punk bands I regularly listen to come from. 4/5
Living Colour
2/5
It's an interesting amalgamation of genres, but it made it hard for me to really get into it. 2/5
Stevie Wonder
4/5
So relaxing and easy to listen to. 4/5
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
Jazzy beats, playful laid back lyrics. Ali Shaheed Muhammad is a legend. Needs more Phife Dawg. 4/5
UB40
1/5
I was going to give this 2 stars because they tried, but then I remembered I gave The Band 2 stars and they are way better than this. 1/5
Roxy Music
3/5
Pretty good. Sounds like a precursor to Britpop. Album cover would give Marco Rubio a conniption which is a plus. 3/5
The Replacements
3/5
Solid rock / punk rock. 3.5 / 5, but I can't round up to 4 on this one.
Miles Davis
3/5
Have to be in the mood, but if you are its awesome. Giving it 3/5 because while I like it the times I would listen are limited.
Bill Evans Trio
3/5
Its hard for me to give jazz albums more than a 3 because my setting is key to my enjoyment, but in a on-the-laptop-at-work context I'm loving these jazz albums.
3/5 except when at work 5/5.
Gorillaz
4/5
Every genre all at once. Love me some Gorillaz. 4/5
Coldplay
4/5
Pressed play assuming it was going to be 3 stars, but I forgot how much I liked this album back in the day. Some classics on here. Shame the rest of their career is meh. 4/5
Queens of the Stone Age
3/5
One of the few QOTSA albums I haven't listened to. Pretty good, but compared to my staples, not one of their best. 3/5
The Flaming Lips
3/5
I want to like it, and sometimes I do. 3/5
John Martyn
2/5
If I was on a farm in Sonoma County I think I would be into it. 2/5
Isaac Hayes
4/5
This album could have come out yesterday. Sounds fresh and I love the variety of songs.
4/5
Dexys Midnight Runners
4/5
I'm a little torn on this one. I really liked it, but is it a 4? I want to say its like a 3.8, but at that point might as well round up.
4/5
Linkin Park
3/5
This album is very nostalgic for me, but lets be honest, its not great. 3/5 for the memories
Big Brother & The Holding Company
3/5
Solid rock n roll
Animal Collective
4/5
Trippy album cover, awesomely weird music. 4/5
Frank Zappa
3/5
Like it a lot more than I expected. Would I put it on again? Unclear. 3/5
Blur
4/5
I like the new direction Blur went on this record. This along with Parklife are probably their best albums. I would say something like 3.7 but gonna round up because Blur is awesome.
4/5
Bob Dylan
3/5
There are bands I listen to today that have this same rambling style such as The War on Drugs, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Courtney Barnett etc. Never listened to a ton of Bob Dylan, but its cool to hear his influence on music I listen to today.
3/5
Jethro Tull
3/5
I liked it. It wasn't as interesting to me as maybe it was intended to be. 3/5
Turbonegro
2/5
Pretty raw rock n roll which I an appreciate it, but really not that interesting to me.
2/5
Arrested Development
3/5
I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting. Some of the songs on this album are so smooth and infectious. The songs People Everyday, Natural, and Washed Away really stuck out to me.
That said, some other songs don't hold up to father time. Thinking of Children Play With Earth thru Give A Man A Fish.
3/5
The Smiths
4/5
Love The Smiths. The latter part of the album is not my favorite, but the rest more then makes up for it. Great album to go out on..
4/5
The Doors
2/5

2/5
It was fine. In my limited exposure to jazz this is not my favorite
2/5
Dolly Parton
2/5
As far as country goes it was good.
2/5
The Avalanches
4/5
Love this album and its clever use of samples. Ground breaking stuff at the time, but it just drags on a little too much for me in some places.
A Different Feeling into Electricity is the best part of this album.
4.5 but cant get to 5. So 4/5
Todd Rundgren
3/5
I think I like it?
3/5
SAULT
4/5
Thoroughly enjoyed this album. 4/5
Traffic
2/5
Not really my thing
2/5
Neu!
2/5
I was confused by this album. The rhythm seemed to be all over the place. Maybe it was a case of the wrong place wrong time. I’ll listen to it again in the future.
2.5 / 5
The Smiths
5/5
Hits front to back. Classic album. 100/100
Peter Frampton
3/5
Good live album. There were some songs I know and like that I would have never guessed were Peter Frampton, but maybe thats just me being music illiterate if it came before the 90s
3/5
Grizzly Bear
3/5
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great album, but for its genre. Not what I expected from 1001 albums
3/5
David Bowie
3/5
I mean, it's a solid album, but nothing groundbreaking.
3/5
Gillian Welch
2/5
Ehh not for me but not as bad as UB40
2/5
Buddy Holly & The Crickets

3/5

2/5
Donovan
2/5

2/5
The Police
3/5
I dont know, it was fine. I wont listen to it again, but I enjoyed the hour
2.7/5 so I'll go 3/5
Nina Simone
3/5
I really liked this. Might be a time and place thing, but her piano play and emotion in her voice really stuck out to me.
I would put it at like 3.4, 3.5, so I'll say 3/5
I was excited after listening to Joshua Tree but this is meh.
2/5
Led Zeppelin
3/5
Seems fine. Do people like Led Zeppelin or something?
3/5
Run-D.M.C.
4/5
Great beats that all kind of sound the same and not my favorite lyrics or style of rhyme. But, It's heavily influential on the hip hop I love and listen to regularly so thats worth an extra star.
4/5
Funkadelic
5/5
What a delight to listen to. I loved it.
5/5
Black Sabbath
4/5
I really enjoyed that. Based on the rock music I listen to today this felt like a melting pot of genres.
4/5
Kanye West
3/5
It's hard because I love this album but I hate who Kanye has become. I'm just gonna be neutral and say 3/5
Guns N' Roses
3/5
Some good some bad.
3/5
Todd Rundgren
2/5
Again, I think I like it? Not as impressive as the last one and way too long for me to make it all the way through.
2/5 because I lost interest before the end
Radiohead
4/5
Often overlooked because of Kid A, but a great album in its own right. Some Radiohead classics on this album. Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, Knives Out, I Might Be Wrong.
4/5
Arcade Fire
4/5
Fairport Convention
2/5
I can't. Not as bad as ub 40 though. I liked Cajun Woman

3/5
Mercury Rev
2/5

The Flaming Lips
3/5
Dont make me like you, Flaming Lips
3.5/5 so 3/5

Beatles
2/5
Not a fan of the earlier Beatles
2/5
Talk Talk
1/5
Couldn't get through it. Cool guitars.
1/5
Manic Street Preachers
3/5
It's like arena rock meets punk? Kinda weird, but there is enough there for me.
3/5
Deep Purple
3/5
Extra star because Smoke On The Water was the first riff I learned to play when I was learning how to play an guitar and then bass
3/5
Tom Waits
3/5
Yeah, I get it. His voice is not for me
3/5
Tears For Fears
4/5

Kinda sounds like a bad version of good electronic music
2/5
Beck

I really liked this. It was fun, interesting, and every song felt like its own unique piece of a larger puzzle.
4/5
The Black Crowes
1/5
It's incredibly uninteresting
1/5
Garbage
3/5
Yeah good. The singles are obviously the best songs, but overall pretty solid 90's rock
3/5
Spiritualized
4/5
Its like Britpop meets Shoegaze and I'm here for it
Doves

Listened to this in RS500. I thought it was good, but nothing really blew me away

4/5
Frank Sinatra
2/5
I tried and I wanted to like it, but I could not
Jeru The Damaja
4/5
I've heard of Jeru, but never listened to him before. I really like this album and it's another sign of how good the 90s New York hip hop scene was.

Very pleasant listening for a rainy day like today!
4/5
Talking Heads
4/5
Lovely stuff
4/5
The Temptations
3/5
Way more of a jam than I was expecting, but I really only knew their huge singles before this.
I would say 3.5 if we could give half stars, but I'm going to settle on 3 stars because its unlikely I listen to this more than once or twice
3/5
Frank Ocean
4/5
A really good album with some instant classics. I'm a blond guy though.
Amy Winehouse
3/5
Enjoyed listening and she is clearly talented, just not something I would listen to daily.
3/5
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
Probably dont need 2 hours of this, but a great album nonetheless. I had listened to this once before and it didn't stick, but a second time through proved to the sweet spot
4/5
The Roots

This album is proof The Roots can do anything, but it doesn't hit the same heights as their best work.

2/5
Ute Lemper

1/5
Justice
3/5
I gotta say, I find Justice a little overrated. They apply the same formula to basically every song on the album and it wears on me after a while. That said, lots of great tunes on here. Album is a tad too long and bloated for anything higher than a 3

The Rolling Stones
3/5
I dont know its fine. Probably high 2s

Supergrass

I like it, but is it really an album I had to listen to?
3/5
The Black Keys
3/5
I could have done coke with the black keys once at a festival. My sister knew one of the organizers and opted not to go hang out with him that day. Afterward he told her of his experience with the black keys backstage. What could have been.
That said, I've never been a big fan. 3/5
