Reviews (page 14 of 14)

I just couldn't do it. I tried but it's just soooo.... Obnoxious to me. His voice... His harmonica... Just not for me dog. I appreciate the newness it gave for the time, and the lyrics in a writing sense. And some of the moments of music is nice, but all together in the same pot just ain't it. Like putting cheddar cheese over brownies. each good, together fucking bad

Expected some classic singles on here but none to be found. Another album I recognise the cover off but none of the tracks are stand outs! I don’t know how this made it on 1001 list.

No need to waste time here either. Electronica followed by this, just brutal. No more Dylan.

Nope. Not for me

DNF. I’m sorry but there’s no way I can listen to this guy for over an hour.

Harmonica is nice but talk like singing tone is awful.

Tylsä af, en tykkää yhtään Dylanin äänestä/tavasta laulaa

I don't like Bob Dylan's voice, so it's difficult to enjoy any of his stuff.

I don't know why I keep on doing this to myself - hopefully this is the last damn Bob Dylan album on this list. I can't do this, I'm sorry Bob.

All sounds the same. There are much better Springsteen albums around!

A lot of these lyrics are really fucking off putting and creepy/egotistical at best. The delivery is one of the most irritating things ever put to record. I retain as a child and don’t get Dylan at /all/. What a fucking slog persisting with this this was. Absolutely dreading him coming up again.

NO, NO, NO! Not Bob Dylan, AGAIN!!! Bunch of noise! One star is too high.

scheiss harmonika. hated it

Completely insufferable

No. Fuck you, Bob.

Definitely not a must

Listening to this album made me want to kill myself. Bob Dylan's whiney talk-singing and the shrill harmonica made my ears bleed.

Get the fuck out bob

I really wanted to find what people see in this. I didn't find it. Why is he singing like a hillbilly if he's from Minnesota and lives in NYC? I may even hate him after reading: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/books/story/2022-10-27/bob-dylan-philosophy-of-modern-song-book-review

I was hoping to be offered a few truly great albums before being hit with Bob Dylan. The blues is a genre that I've never particularly "got", and Dylan's nasal drone starts to grate after a couple of tracks. Even the opening track, "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" feels like it should be a B-side. There are a couple of decent tracks here, "I Want You" is the stand-out for me. Without the vocal and the constant harmonica (what an unpleasant instrument!), this would be much improved. Pretty much all the songs sound the same and it just goes on forever. Still 2 more to go...

I can’t do this for an hour

Warum finden alle Bob Dylan so wichtig? Ständiges Geleier der Stimme und Mundharmonika. Gibt besseren Blues.

First couple of songs completely turned me off of the whole album DNF

Sorry bob that was poop

I've never liked Bob Dylan. I still don't.

Not my thing at all.

Voice annoys me Love the cover mogging

This voice. It's terrible

One hour long drive home, and Dylan’s voice never got any better. It was difficult to tell the songs apart from each other. I don’t think he would make it to top ten in American Idol today.

From what I have read, Bob Dylan is one of the most influential singer songwriters ever, producing outstanding lyrics, capturing true poetry in his songs. From what I have experienced in any of his albums and this one especially, Bob Dylan tries to compensate his subpar singing voice with a singing style so obnoxious, that I can't even listen to the lyrics at all. My mind is too occupied with getting angrier and angrier, waiting for the next unneccessarily eloHOngated and overly pronOUnced slurred syllables. Couldn't finish it. Give me collapsing buildings again.

Auto 1 star. Cringe singing as always. Don't need 7 albums of his on a list..if

every song sounds EXACTLY the same and its all bad

wasn't good at all, all the songs sounded the same

after a small amount of research i found that historically, lobotomies could be performed in under 10 minutes. with that information in mind i wonder why mr Dylan decided to spend 72 minutes lobotomizing me

#56, the first of seven Dylan albums. I would want to put some rambling about this list and its curation process here, but I'll get to the point: I tried it with this guy, really, but I just can't. The point of music, to me, is: music. It's not words. And so a vocalist's performance is mostly sound, timbre, a layer in the music's soundwaves which hit my eardrums and in the process excite the auditory nerves to generate a, hopefully, pleasant and/or interesting sensation. All of music is about that. Dylan's soundwaves are shit. Firmly sitting in the space between grating and boring. And I'm not going to pretend otherwise, in order to be able to discover potentially good song writing. I know it's there, at times, but it wasn't Dylan who has shown me, but among others Melanie Safka (😢), Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez, The Byrds, heck, even fucking Guns 'n Roses or U2. I don't understand why I would want to listen to this man. [copy/paste to a Notepad file, for the remaining six] This album? Yeah, boring. Grating. Occasionally, it brings about a hint of a nice vibe (Visions of Johanna) but any redeeming bits are nullified by how many more of the 72 minutes do - at best - nothing for me. Blues Rock Sonic Garbage that irritates me more than what his session musicians here eventually did as "The Band" (album #28) three years later and that was a 2 from me.

It's just harmonicas and terrible singing. Absolute garbage

Que niña tonta

Munspelet

The style of this Bob Dylan not preferred

I really don't want to give this a one star, because Bob is a great guitar player, and the harmonica work is excellent, but I absolutely hate his voice, and it kills everything for me. The intonation sucks. His vocal embellishments are cringy. The vocal strain is bad. It's just bad.

I still haven't forgiven him for picking up an electric guitar. Was something people said. Meanwhile, this dude got obsessed with the harmonica. This album sucks. And Bob Dylan is a shit poet, singer, and songwriter.

Not my thing at all. Hate his voice. You can hear the conceit and cynicism

It's hard to find words to describe how discomforting this music is to me. I cannot imagine — like I literally cannot comprehend — how Marianne hears this and feels drawn in and turned on. I listen and try to hear it, catch what I've missed before, and it just makes things worse. And the one-star rating isn't posturing, I'm genuinely aggravated when this is playing.

Sooo much harmonica and way too much organ. I don't enjoy his vocals. What else can I say?

Dylan.

Deze man weet heel veel fijne muziek te verpesten met zijn gelal. Halverwege moest ik even pauze nemen.

not a Bob Dylan fan. Too much harmonica.

Not a Dylan fan

Unlistenable.

I suppose it’s a good album but I’m done with Dylan now.

Ta de la vrg no me gustó

It's such a shame Bob Dylan can't sing. Allegedly, his lyrics are quite good. I can't make out a word he's "singing".

I honestly think the amount of comical takes on Dylan have ruined any chance that I would like his music. He sounds like a muppet and every time the harmonica starts in it triggers my fight or flight, I can’t stand it.

just can't get a along with his voice, DNF

I know he's a legend but I've always found Dylan repetitive and eye-stabby

Just straight up painful. Every song sounds the same, every next minute sounds exactly like the last one. Jesus Christ this is depressing to listen to. Bob Dylan? More like Bob Skyplan cause I want to skip every song after 15 seconds. Significant 17/44 Liked 7/44 Added 1/44 *a long, howling scream*

Literally one of the most overrated acts in history. Bob Dylan may have inspired some talented artists, but man...

I really really didn't like the harmonica, I didn't even finish the album.

Not a Dylan fan, tried so much to make it work but I can’t. Sorry

Dull…….

I could see this hitting at a bar but nah

Oof. Clearly the instrumentals are great here. I just cannot vibe with his singing at all. What an incredibly annoying flair, he gives to his notes. And some texts that I dare say come way too close to sexist. You could say that it's a product of its time, but then I say, well, that was a shitty time. All in all, not gonna listen to this album again.

Absolutely annoying beyond measure. This is one of my first times actively listening to Dylan on my own volition and I'm not sure I believe any actual adult human could seriously get into this album. If I was there in the 60s? Sure. If I grew up with this music? Maybe. But now that I've lived my whole adult life hearing his voice meme'd and parodied I cannot for the life of me take it seriously. Worse yet it seems like his cliche Dylan vocal melodies are in FULL SWING here. They drive me crazy and I can't help but think of all the people who have since done this joke to death.

Man, I know Bobby Zimmerman is fucking legendary, but damn! I just can’t figure out how this shit got any listens. WTF!? A woman with a mustache who can’t find her knees? Did he say vagina somewhere in there? Is this a fucking joke?!?!?! Sorry folks. Poetry is one thing but this is bizarre. I listened to as much as I could but know I’m re-enlisting in the Marines and going back to Helmund province to atone for this clusterfuck.

Fucking. Harmonica.

Fav Songs: Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again Least Fav Songs: Most of the Album

One star for the music sans harmonica. I can't fathom how people listen to Dylan's voice and go "Yeah, that's the shit." I'd rather set fire to my face and then try to put it out with a fork than have to suffer through his voice again.

Hate bob Dylan

new meme dropped: a cat paw on the back of bob dylan's hand. it's time to stop playing the harmonica. george harrison did a better cover of "absolutely sweet marie".

I've lost count of the number of Dylan albums I've heard on this project. Still don't enjoy him. This particular album was a harmonica-filled fever dream.

I regret checking how many Bob Dylan albums are there. This one is slightly better than the previous one (still insufferable)

dislike

Dude, willst du singen oder sprechen? Entscheide dich! Das hat mir nicht so gefallen und die Musik war auch nichts besonderes.

I didn’t like this at all. The harmonica or whatever instrument that was at the beginning put me off. Skipped the all the songs at the beginning and hadn’t had the will to continue to listen…I’m sorry

Boring old man chats

...and I'm back to feeling my bloody boil every time I hear that damned harmonica!

Not a fan of Dylan.

Fuck Bob Dylan. This was just awful. For an hour and 12 minutes ffs. 1/5.

While I appreciate the blues roots this album takes its inspiration from, three nonsensical verses tied together by a chorus repeating the same sentence does not a song make.

Too one-sided and too much harmonica

First of all, why is it called rainy day woman? I like how it feels like it was recorded all together. Maybe I don’t like harmonica anymore? Oof these songs are long. I know his lyrics are meaningful and sometimes political but I have a hard time following the story. He sounds like he has a crazy speaking accent who even says the vowel a like that? Stuck inside of mobile is my favorite. This whole exercise sucked. Next album please

lotsa harmonica, i’m not a huge fan of that or of his singing tbh. i know he’s iconic but just not really for me. by the end of the album i hated it a little less

Sorry, Bob Dylan, I just can't get into your music...got halfway through the album and couldn't continue because of how boring the album is to me.

no more bob dylan

No le pillo

Nunca me a latido éste vato y lo mantengo

Still can't stand his voice. This was unlistenable for me this time around.

Sounded very dated and his voice was annoying. I usually like older music, but couldn't get into this.

Boooo.

I have never understood Dylan's popularity. His voice is dreadful & he sounds bored & boring. This album illustrates this completely

Didn't really know any Bob Dylan, but this was even worse than I expected. Every song sounds the same. Nothing melodically or rhythmically interesting at all, annoying harmonica and dreary vocals.

Bad voice. Pseudo-intellectual lyrics. Music for another generation.

Amazing

Bobby D is the best!
