coisas que eu não senti saudade nenhuma nesse site: bob dylan
This album is very long! Perhaps I wasn’t in the mood but found this a real slog.
Too much harmonica for my liking. I like rock but this isn’t up to my alley, can appreciate and jiggy to it a little though, but something about Bob’s enunciation… I can’t get around.
Veit akkurat hvor jeg vil putte det jævla munnspillet
I’d rather chew tin foil for 1hr 12mins
haven't even got past the first song and the tambourine can't even stay in tempo, wtf?
I did not like this album because the lyrics was weird, and i did not like his voice.
Sick of bob dylan. Two BD albums in one week is too mandy
This is one of his more annoying sounding albums
Pre-listening thoughts: oh brother here we go again. I’m about to get sick of Bob Post/during listening thoughts: okay so this solidified my previous opinion that we don’t need more than one Bob Dylan album on the generator. They all sound. The same. Like nearly freaking identical. That stupid ass organ and that fuckass harmonica just will not go away 😭😭😭. I’m about to give this a two just cause I’m mad that this took up a spot on the list. 4/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: NO Fav tracks: I want you Least fav tracks: any time that stupid stupid harmonica made an appearance
the least offensive dylan
"I Want You" feels like Bob Dylan doing a Neil Young song. IDK, overall I'm a Dylan fan but this was a grind today aside from Memphis Blues Again.
Sorry but not sorry. This is boring as fuck
the harmonica is not my instrument of choice
Hate Dylan's vocals. Never understood the appeal. This is a modicum better than some of his more acoustic folksy albums but still nothing I ever want to listen to again if I can avoid it.
I'm having trouble standing his voice but I did like Most Likely You Go Your Way (and I'll go mine).
Har klart meg heile livet uten

NO
chato pra caralho
I like alot of the Bob Dylan songs, just not these. These seem very early in his career (Not sure if they are) but they sound very whiney. Not a fan
Nee.
The most impressive part of this album was the harmonica work, not my favourite Dylan.
Not my cup of tea 😔
It's just too much Dylan for me
I really like fun, upbeat Dylan. I'm hit or miss on slow Dylan. I absolutely hate mid-tempo, drawn out word, list of random things he happens to be looking at when writing the song Dylan. This album has them all, but not enough of the fun songs to make the others worth it. There's probably a single album's worth of material here that would get a 4 from me, but the double gets a 2. drawn-to-listen-to: many covers of Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again (Grateful Dead, North Mississippi Allstars, Old Crow Medicine Show, Cat Power, so many more)
Pre: I know this album, it's a classic, probably a 4 star review. Easy. Post: "Bringing It All Back Home" and "Highway 61 Revisited" are WAY better Bob Dylan albums than Blonde on Blonde. How in the world did I think this album was so good. The only song worth mentioning is "Stuck Inside of Mobile..." and the fact that Al Kooper's Hammond organ playing is so damn good throughout this album. Not nearly as memorable as I'd thought. One to skip if you're not a huge Bob Dylan fan. Go check out the other two albums instead they both hold up quite a bit better than Blonde on Blonde
Sorry the voice and harmonica doesn't do it for me
Sok szájharmónika, nem tetszett az éneklése
Blonde on Blonde is OK. I think the more complex instrumentation actually takes away from the core of Dylan's ability -- strong story telling poetry over a guitar. Two star.
I can’t stand Dylan’s voice and strange inflection he uses when singing. It takes what would be fine songs and drags them down in my opinion.
I don't believe in Dylan...
I 've always though Dylan was way overated. I even went to see him about 15 years ago in Beijing and hos total lack of generosity toward the public made me dislike him too as a person. Well what he's recognised for is songwriting, poetry (not sure his litterature Nobel prize is deserved though, but Ombama got the Nobe Peace...). And he sure does write some very good texts. Some very good songs too. Look: All along the watch towers (Hendrix made me love this song), Like a rolling stone, Knok on a Heaven's door.. great songs when they are played by others. Because what I am not found of is his orchestration and his voice (and his ego). Songs like I want you is nice, because the melody is backed by the guitar; taking over where the voice should. I won't listen the whole album again. Well a bit harsh on the monument, but only because it was built too high in my opinion.
The icon who, for some reason, represents boomer’s pinnacle of musical poetry. Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Only two octaves to his name and a damn harmonica he somehow manages to play without using his hands. Where most hear the “rock era” of the master, for me only “Stuck Inside of Mobile…”, “Obviously Five Believers”, and “I Want You” (which my hippie aunt used to blast on loop when I was a kid) ever managed to break the weak blues and folk monotony. I’ve managed to reach the end of Blonde on blonde without too much suffering.
Knowing Bob Dylan is so well known, I was expecting a lot more. Definitely feels like a product of its time, and maybe if I grew up with it I could appreciate more, but the signing is just tedious. some good instrumentals but the singing is just too distracting.
Dylan croons nonsense over soulful harmonica.
2.5
Listened 4/7/2025. Not into the folk stuff and his voice.
Not my thing. Didn’t associate bob Dylan with that voice, guess I’m disconnected. Will have to research later about his importance; a bit too grassroots and redneck-y for my taste but I’m sure he paves the road in some way for what music is today
2.1 I don't get it! I just don't! With those touted the 'best ever albums' I usually understand, if not ultimately agree with, why they've been selected. But this makes no sense to me. What's particularly confusing is that I actually view The Freewheelin' as one of the best ever albums. Then after a few years he just spun off into pretty underwhelming rock/blues, with his voice almost a caricature of his younger self. And yet it's these albums that get all the acclaim. Make it make sense. It's shite, it's bloated, it's rambling, he sounds like a pissed Bob Dylan cover act
Yeah I don't think I like Bob actually.
I know. I get it. I'd probably enjoy an all-covers version of this album. But maybe not that much.
Some attempts at fun but there's a smugness in those efforts as though he's above it.
Гармошка)
If there was just one Bob Dylan to check out before you die it would definitely be Highway 61 Revisited or even Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan over this one. It has some cool songs like Visions Of Johanna but also the painful circus fanfare of Rainy Day Women #12 & #35 which opens up the album in spectacularly horrid fashion and the album over its course does drone on a bit and is very padded. A lot of samey, below-par tunage such as Pledging My Time and nearly all of sides C and D in fact with the stompier Obviously 5 Believers the only real keeper. Overall, obviously not 5 stars.
Generally not a fan of the type of blues-rock-country style of music that's predominant on this record. I found the overt use of the harmonica quite hard to listen to and Dylan's voice took some getting used to. Once I got past the first 3-4 songs I could appreciate the album a bit more. The vivid storytelling and wordplay on 'Stuck Inside of Mobile...' stuck out the most to me throughout the album. In general the lyrics I picked up on while listening seemed like the most interesting part of the record, although I have to admit I didn't spend too much time properly reading them. I know this is supposedly one of the greatest albums of all time, it just doesn't seem to catch me.
I’ve tried. I just can’t. Bob Dylan does absolutely nothing for me. I’ve had this album on CD for decades from an earlier attempt to understand the “greatness” and I’ve simply never been impressed. Next!
Ugh.
Almost a 3 but too many bob dylan weird lyrics and bob dylan singing...
It's hard for me to evaluate this one because there's just nothing in this album that appeals to me. No hate to Dylan's writing or vocals, but I don't care much for them; and the instruments are... there... I can't say there's anything offensive about Blonde on Blonde (aside from maybe the occasional ear-piercing harmonica parts—not all of them are, just most...), but there's also nothing I love about it. There are a couple of songs here that I would consider decent (namely, Memphis Blues Again, which is quite good, actually), but apart from that, It's a bit of a slog and pretty underwhelming for me since my music taste is too far from this. 5/10
why does he sound like that
Certified not a bob Dylan enjoyer
First? 3 /5 Again? 1,5 /5
Best Song: Visions of Johanna. The kind of evocative songwriting and delivery at which Dylan can excel. Worst Song: Leopard-Skin-Pill-Box Hat. He's just talking over a standard blues progression. Overall: He's really bluesy here, which isn't a great look for him. Maybe I've grown fatigued of all the Dylan, but I find it difficult to get excited about anything on this album.
Звучит как американское кантри. Мне не понравилось. Для меня это была слишком медленная музыка, а губная гармошка действовала на нервы.
mid
I've always liked his name most about him. Not my favorite Bobby D album
How much harmonica can a person endure?
not my cup of tea, but a good start
**A boring album, most tracks sound alike. Vocals raspy and horrible.
I think where Bob Dylan truly shines is in his lyricism. He evokes a lot of beautiful and memorable imagery in his songs. It's just a darn shame that his voice gets a bit on the nerves after listening to over an hour of it, and some of the songs on Blonde against Blonde felt like they were stretched out unhealthily. The country vibes are not for me.
Well that was pretty boring. His voice sounds like Thomas the tank engine grew up, got drunk after his wife left him, and decided to record an album.
over the last 30 years I've tried to get the Dylan mystique and it has not happened. Is Dylan a better vocalist than famously anti-singer vocalist Leonard Cohen? no. Is Dylan a better songwriter than Leonard Cohen? debatable, but I like Nick Cave and Jennifer Warnes covers of Cohen better than any non-Hendrix Dylan cover i've heard. Maybe I'd be more sympathetic to Dylan's schtick if Brel, Cohen and Scott Walker didn't exist, but they do, and I still don't get why this dude became the standard bearer instead of, I dunno, Mimi Farina.
The first few songs are a crime against my ears. Kinda mid after that. Leopard-skin pillbox hat is funny. 2 stars, but only because there are a few decent songs
It feels like the entire album is just one long song with very little variation. I can take Dylan in small chunks.
Something is off with this album. Bob needs the lo-fi aesthetic to blend better with his vocal abilities. That way it’s easier to focus on the intent of the song. This album had a high fidelity sound which did not compliment his voice. Couldn’t be taken seriously and would need multiple listens to break through this listening barrier.
Honestly I can’t get past Dylan’s voice… no mistaking the instrumentation quality though
Man sings like he’s walking on uneven ground blindfolded.
I thought I’d recognise these songs but I did not.
Honestly shocked at how much I didn't enjoy this. I've always known his name but never really dove into anything of his. I don't enjoy his vocals and the use of the harmonica is super over powering.
I don't really care for Bob Dylan. I think he's a good songwriter, but I don't love listening to his stuff performed by him.
Eto. 2/5, 3/10.
not a big fan tbh
I just can’t with Bob Dylan and I almost feel the need to apologise for it. He just goes on and on and his voice does nothing for me. Another one in the ‘would have made a great poet’ brigade’ for me along with Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen
harmonica, plz stop
OK, I guess. Not his greatest hits.
This album has a lot of potential as the instrumentation is genuinely very good and the lyrics are mostly good wirh a few notable exceptions. Bob Dylan’s voice however is borderline intolerable for most of this album. He is somehow never fully in key and the three songs I saved are ones where his vocal range is the narrowest and his glaring deficiencies as a singer are masked.
A lot more rock and roll than I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise, but the album is too long and I won’t actively seek out any of the songs to listen again.
Probably my least favourite from Bob so far
2/5 voice wasnt for me
Will this be the first Bob Dylan album to not get 3 stars??? Yep! 2 stars this time! It’s so boring. Who cares if the lyrics are great if the music is unlistenable. I’m sorry but there’s a difference between a songwriter and a poet. Bro is the latter more than the former. Because he’s fucking bad at writing hooks.
I enjoyed the instrumentation, minus the harmonica on some songs. That's it for the positives; Bob Dylan's formulaic song structure, meaningless lyrics, and drone-like delivery left me longing for a majority of the songs to end. Glad to be through with this one.
I just can’t get over his annoying voice tbh. It’s like Beatles if they couldn’t sing and had a harmonica 2/5
Unimpressed :/
65% Best: I Want You; Just Like a Woman; Absolutely Sweet Marie; Obviously Five Believers Must-Hear? Uhh no, I'll pass. Dylan is overrated AF
Not for my trainings vibe yesterday
Pretty one dimensional album and not gonna lie 'just like a woman' is a pretty rough song. Also, way too long and all sounds the same.
I couldn’t get past the third song or so. I just don’t think bob Dylan is for me
Bob Dylan made important contributions to music and he was very talented, unfortunately his music really isn’t for me
I feel like I’ve come a bit full circle on Mr Dylan. Having never listened to an album before this list and with a general assumption I didn’t like his music. I’ve been won over by ‘Bring it back…’ and ‘Blood in the tracks’ was OK. However, this one just sounds exactly like what I thought he sounded like before this whole exercise began, and I don’t care for it. Just all a bit slow (and some songs just too long) and samey, and with too many of my least favourite vocal inflection traits. I’m guessing there will be another one on the list. Guess that’s gonna decide my long-term view…..
Oh no... not more Dylan. I wonder if his moaning, disguised as singing, has peaked on this record? 'I Want You' is a very good song, and the 'Stuck Inside The Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again' is good as well, but the rest is... ok I guess? If it wasn't for his crappy singing this would've gotten 3 stars, but that just drags it down for me.
So much harmonica
Alright. Pretty chill. Very story teller vibes.
If I wanted to like this artist I probably had to have been alive at the time. Lyrically quite talented and realized. Everything else is meh at best. I've seen him live and felt the same way. I wish I could see what so many others do because I have to admit that they seem to find him captivating.
Albumi #104, 09.11.2024 Bob Dylanin suuruutta etenkään levyttävänä artistina en ole koskaan ymmärtänyt. Muutamia hienoja kuolemattomia biisejä, mutta laulajana Dylan on yhdentekevä. Blonde On Blonde on Dylanin seitsemäs albumi vuodelta 1966 ja samalla yksi parhaimmaksi arvioitu. Ei vaan tipu mulle. Ei vaikka miten yritän.
not a Dylan fan
Harmonica is officially my least favorite instrument.
I just can’t with this man.
I can't get over his weird wheezy voice. The music itself seems well constructed and thoughtful, but I will never be a fan. Sorry y'all.
Less revolutionary listening to it now compared to when I listened to it the first time when I was 16 or 17. Still some good Dylan at least. Couldn't decide between 2 and 3 stars. Settled on a 2 since I felt like I probably wont listen to this again for another 20ish years.
Mid
I can’t. I just can’t. I barely made it through two songs. I’ve tried Dylan in the past. I can respect that his music has spoken to many people, but I’m just not one of them. I don’t get it. Never have. Never will. Next, please.
Listened to this while playing Isofarian Guard. I am just not a Bob Dylan fan. I did particularly enjoy the song about eating ass...but that might not have been what he actually said. A double album of Dylan is a bit much.
It’s okay I guess if you can channel some inner crusty artsy hippiness and ignore the hideous harmonica every other song. 1.5 good songs on here but I’m pretty much never in the middle for this kind of music.
I should give Blonde on Blonde a 1/5 but I am going to give it a 2 because I didn't actually like any of the songs but I do like his weird grating voice and his songwriting
loved the music and liked the lyrics when i could actually bear to listen to them delivered by dylan’s herky-jerky singing style. his voice put me in a bad mood. overall the album felt like being dizzy, faint and sweaty in an antique store but you can’t leave because your friend wants to look at every booth
Man, Bob Dylan. A prime example of right person at the right time.
Not for me, I've never been a Dylan fan. I appreciate some great lyrics and the message he is putting across in some songs. It's all the same; vocals, harmonica, vocals, harmonica. You would have thought he could have paid a session musician to play harmonica whist he sang at the same time! I notice some of his biggest hits such as Blowing in the wind and Times they are a-changin' are not on here so I'm guessing there are more Dylan albums in the 1001 ffs! For me the best track was Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands ....... because it was the last one
Hm, dafür das der Typ so berühmt ist, fand ich das Album jetzt nicht so pralle
Meh
Singles were excellent but general sounds don’t do it for me.
Sounds exactly like you’d think it does
Sounded like Mr Boom falling down the stairs
I wasn't a big fan. Didn't really like his voice, couldn't get into it much.
Yeah, no matter how much Bob Dylan you push down my throat, I am not going to like it. At least in a few of these songs he sounded like he wasn't depressed.
I recognized a few songs. That’s about it. Never been a huge Dylan fan and listening to this album did not change my mind.
I just don't think I'm a Dylan-type. I liked a few, but I think he's an acquired taste.
Vittu tää äijä kyl rakastaa huuliharppuaan. Alussa se oli hauskaa, keskivälissä vähän puuduttavaa ja lopussa olin jo et vedä bob viel yks huuliharppusoolo. En myöskään pystyny lopettaa sen ajattelemista et timothee chalamet tulee näyttelee bob dylanii ja i hate to admit it but i kinda see it....
Not my favorite. Can’t get into Dylan
I can appreciate Dylan but I can’t enjoy him. It just doesn’t grab me
Bob being himself I fear...
Nyt selvisi se, että en voi sietää Bob Dylanin lauluääntä.
Bob Dylan gives me the creeps and his music sucks
People rave about this, but to me it's incomprehensible. I Want You is probably the most typical Dylan song for me, i.e. stuffed with imagery that makes no sense, huffed out in his unique but imitable style. Although I would like to be wrong, I really think the emperor has no clothes.
Welp, I guess it's about that once a decade point in time where I try out a Bob Dylan record to see if I finally get it. I don't.
Honestly I had trouble focusing on the lyrics or melodies because I was so distracted by Bob Dylan's weird vocal style. The twang at the end of his lines is probably an acquired taste and maybe if I force myself to hear him sing like this over and over I could tolerate it.
This album is not really my vibe
Folk Rock isn't exactly my thing, but I think that the music is okay. The rest, that is Dylan's lyrics and his voice and the way he sings, especially on this album, is between boring and annoying.
I said it once and I'll say it again: I'll like Dylan when he respects women in his lyrics.
Just reminded me of Neil Young, in that the music itself is nice but the vehicles are very distracting and unpleasant. The songs have a interesting structure and the lyrics seem probably artistic and meaningful. Most of that was drowned out by Bob Dylan sounding like a caricature of himself.
Gonna catch flack for this but i don’t like this era dylan much at all.
Not great
harmonica
Didn’t like it
2 Sterne. Lieder zu lang, und der nuschelt so
My least favorite Dylan album so far. It's felt less like storytelling, and more like rambling nonsense
Alright well I listened to about half of it and I’m unsure of if I’ll listen to the rest later bc I’m sorta busy but like. Look I get these are all good albums and I acknowledge that. I ain’t saying this is crap music. But I didn’t really enjoy listening to the first half of this album. It wasn’t for me.
I still really do not get most of Dylan.
This harmonica is killing me. I liked the lyrics a lot from the first song. I cannot with this harmonica though. Why does he love it so much? The rest of the songs are pretty mid when they aren't killing me slowly via harmonica.
Długie, podobne do siebie i nie jarające mnie. Może 2 piosenki fajne. 2/5
Not great Bob
I just could never get into Bob Dylan. Never did it for me and this album was no exception
"What the hell is this song about?" I sure would like to love Bob. I really would. Wait...no...I DO love Bob. Sorry. I got confused for a minute there. huh. Here's one of the albums of all time.
Not my favorite Dylan album
Hope you like harmonica. There was actually a song I was unfamiliar with, and I actually liked it. Most Dylan songs are better when covered by other people IMO. This being the third Dylan album on this list I'd say it seemed like the covers are better because of the lack of passion in Dylan's delivery. This album actually was performed with some feeling. So that was a welcome change. Still, it's Dylan. PS This album cover won best cover of 67 (I believe). The other covers must have been utter garbage.
Didn't hate it as much as I expected
I am really trying here. I swear. But I really can’t get into Dylan’s stuff. There’s too many of the things I don’t like: harmonicas and his voice. That said, this is probably the most I’ve been able to sit through. But, just when I thought it might be the end, turns out it was only the 4th song. Send help.
4.5/10
Lyrics go over my head. Sounds OK. Whatever
I don't get Bob Dylan.
I don’t know. It was alright.
Не. До сих пор не фанат Боба Дилана. 4/14 = 29%
2/5
If Bob tried with this girl as hard as he was mewing this album wouldn't exist. What a sacrifice.
I'm starting to get a little Bob Dylan'ed out after this 3rd album given to me. I'm afraid of how many more I have to go. I think I enjoyed his harmonica the most on this album compared to the other two, but this one definitely dragged on too long.
First time through. 1.5x.
Part of me wants to like Dylan more than I do, but I find him quite boring overall.
It's Bob Dylan. I've heard Dylan described as one of the worst harmonica players. There is a lot of harmonica here. The rest is pure Dylan.
Another Bob Dylan album and another one where I can't stand his singing. This time, it's a little better, but the harmonica always makes me want to stop listening. It's a shame because some of the music itself isn't actually that bad. 2/5
Ugh
I get it, I just don't love bob's voice and his mostly amateurish harmonica playing. I like some of da Bob songs but none on this album.
Я ничего особо о нём не думаю. Ну бобдулан чё с него взять. Ну ээаа
2,5
Would have been better if it was shorter. The quality and effort is so much better on the b-side.
My main problem with this album is that it would be better if someone else was playing the harmonica and WAY better if someone else was singing, or nobody at all. Al Kooper on keys and Robbie Robertson on guitar completely carried the production. Upon further research I found that the only other thing Bob did for this album was the mixing which is also just not great. I found myself enjoying the intro to most songs and would almost become depressed within one measure of a Bob lyric or harmonica cacophony. HOWEVER, just like I said to Kerri about the Beatles, you have to suspend some judgement and appreciate how it was made almost 60 years ago, it made way for improvement. Bob Dylan tripped so Billy Joel could soar. I was happy to find out where leopard skin pill box hat comes from.
Bob can be egregious with his rollercoaster vocal pitch change on some vowels (yooOOuuUUuu) but other times his unique style works well. Harmonica was often too loud. Not many standouts in either direction, it's consistent. Made me wanna listen to Dr. Dog. Thought I would like this more but the vocals got on my nerves a bit. Top songs: Visions of Johanna, I want you, Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis blues again
The music was great, but I’m just not a fan of his singing style. Sorry Dylan fans 🤷🏻♀️
Dylan doesn’t do it for me. I want you Ok Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis blues again Bra Just like a woman Ok
Am I the only person who finds Dylan a bit creepy? Just Like A Woman is at the very least patronizing and at worst infantalizing and misogynist. It's also badly sung. The squealing harmonica and droning organ on most of the songs made this album a bit of a task to listen to. Yeah, I get it, he was a big deal back in the day. But I don't really get the hype.
El título me hizo imaginar un cúmulo de cadáveres de mujeres rubias
Not my typical genre but enjoyed most of the album, especially a few songs. Just not sure how often I’m listening to this.
Great songwriting, landmark album for Dylan and for rock in general. Not easy to listen to, harmonica is always too high in the mix. Not an album you can really enjoy listening to without knowing the backstory and context.
Not my fav of BD.
It was alright. Bob Dylan is very talented but it felt like a lot of the same without variety. This album is lacking compared to others in my opinion, but it is a simple listen
I can appreciate, but I will just never be into Bob Dylan.
I just can’t get into it
Folksie-Rough-Rock
Yeah still can't stand his voice. I tried. Again.
Bob Dylan is fine, but his style gets so cloying. I've had to listen to his songs done by the Byrds and the Fairport Convention, and it's always the same disjointed mess of lyrics. I'm a lyrics guy at heart, and there's just not enough here sung with meaning and purpose for me to enjoy.
Lose about 30 minutes and you'd have a perfectly decent single album that I'd score at 4.
Never could get into Dylan. Always felt he was overrated. Too folksy for me. WAAYYY to much harmonica. We get it dude, you're deft with the jaw harp!
One of the most praised artists of all time, and one I simply never get. His singing is less grating on this record than most, but it's still a punch to my eardrums when listening for an extended period of time. All the songs sort of blend together for me, there isn't much change in cadence or speed. I don't understand much of the lyrics, so maybe that impacts my review...I don't hear story telling as much as rambling. Shrug emoji.
Der nölige Gesang, stets im gleichen schmalen Frequenzbereich, die unangenehm durchdringende Mundharmonika, die schleppend langsamen Rhythmen - nein danke.
There are a couple of good songs on here, but damn, the ones that irk me drive me up the fucking wall. Rainy Day Women makes me want to choose violence.
i don’t think he’s that good a singer lol and a woman would have never gotten away with that kind of performance
I am a big fan of Bob Dylan's hit songs, none of which were in this album. This album was honestly quite boring and I felt like it dragged on for too long. Maybe its just me, but I felt that the music was a bit too wordy and his singing voice started to become irritating about halfway. I recommend a listen only to those who are fans of his or folk rock in general. Favorite Song(s): N/A
I like a lot of Dylan's work, but this album is too much of the stuff I'm not as interested in.
Bob Dylan sucks. And why would they cram that suckiness into two 7 minuter and an 11 minuter? This album does have a couple of recognizable songs though
Over rated. I don't get it
I like a lot of Bob Dylan's stuff but this album is incredibly annoying for some reason. I've always been cool with the fact that he had a terrible singing voice - that's just part of the package. This album, though... I don't know if it's how it was recorded or if he was just pushing his voice even harder than usual, but it's incredibly grating. I prefer the Dylan of yore (Freewheelin', The Times, Bringing it all back home, Highway 61.)
I just hate Dylan....
I got really stoned and coded a discord bot.
Der Junge mit der Mundharmonika. *Schnarch*
Not for me but I appreciate what it was
Damn. I saw that album cover and for a moment I thought Tom Baker had made a record. But no, it's Dylan again, the man with the most irritating voice in music. That long, piercing harmonica on Pledging My Time all but guaranteed a one-star review before I'd even heard the rest. Having said that, I'd like this album a lot more if you could cut out Dylan's vocals and that flipping mouth organ of his. Let's pretend any of this matters at all and add an extra star to the review, for the band.
Does not age well. The harmonica is over the top.
It was fine. I can't stand the sound of Bob Dylan's voice. I understand his cultural significance, but his music is just not enjoyable to listen to and sounds all very similar. This album is too long and repetitive.
Fun psychedelic acoustic hippie vibes. Band sounds great, but imbalanced production with vocals being a little too hot. Some songs really dragged on for a long time. Some great folksy tracks sprinkled in. Harmonica kind of made me wanna hurt myself. Really talented guitar. I can see how, with the help of some psychedelic enhancements, this album lead the mid 60’s
Not to my taste
Wildly overrated everything made it seem like it was supposed to be some deeply profound work the songwriting is mid at best and good lord his voice is agonising to listen to for more than 15 seconds.
like the harmonica, guitar, and piano.....just not his voice. or his lyrics. or the 11 minute long song at end of album
Boring and long.
With a voice like sand and glue...and a blurry cover of the album too. Yeah, I know Blonde On Blonde is a must listen. And yet the Bob Dylan of this album has never been my vibe and I don't (solely) blame the harmonica. I have friends who stan for Bob Dylan in ways inconceivable to me who would rush to the defense of him and this record. And yet, I say give me the Dylan of Masters of War and the Dylan of Hurricane you can leave this record at home.
Ugh more Dylan F
I didn't enjoy the first Bob Dylan album suggested to me by this list and I didn't enjoy this one either. I guess Bob Dylan just isn't for me.
Ugh. I don't like Bob Dylan. The best I can say about this record is it's inoffensive. I won't give it a 1 as it doesn't completely ruin my day but I don't like it.
fav song: one of us must know
Droning on and on
This album is distilled Bob Dylan. Each song is distinctly in his voice, a bit too much to my taste. I found the tone of the album on a whole to be really monotonous and uninteresting. I can appreciate the songwriting talent, with a colloquial and rhythmic playfulness throughout, on display, but this was not for me.
Never listened to bob dylan before, was alright, got tired of his voice by the end
Known Before: Artist Standouts: No 4.5
I have immense guilt for ranking Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" as a 3 stars. It should have been 4, but I can't figure out a way to update my ranking. As for Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde," this was a particularly underwhelming album. For the famous American singer-songwriter, this folk rock album missed the mark and was not Dylan’s greatest work. This album was slow, long, and boring. If anything, this reminded me of the lazy vocals of Randy Newman with loud harmonica.
Decent but dated
Not my cup of tea, felt like the entire album sounded the same and didn't feel like this was Dylan's best work
I’m not a fan of Bob Dylan, and this didn’t change that. Musically well put together but just not for me.
Nou Bob Dylan, ben benieuwd I guess? Nog zo'n artiest die altijd bovenin de top staat wat betreft muziek/albums gemaakt maar ik denk niet dat ik veel van hem heb gehoord. Rainy Day Women#12 & 35 vind ik echt herrie.
It’s not really my thing.
I feel like there's something wrong with me while listening to this, because it's Dylan, and I should like it, right?! Well, I don't. I guess I'll just have to stick with some of his other albums. But don't worry, it's not him, it's me. The recording is of fair quality, but the rawness of the performance makes me wonder if this would land better as a live album. It's almost as if I can hear the shape of the music coming from inside a club, but I can't feel it while I'm on the outside of the foggy window trying to look in. I picture the people inside having fun. I imagine their laughing and clapping. I get a sense that there's a strong exchange of energy between the audience and the band, and yet I remain outside—experiencing it for myself remains out of reach. Thinking of it another way, the album strikes me as something I might feign liking, to impress a woman, timing the playback for while I'm doing dishes right before she comes in the door. I think the music probably deserves at least a three, but a two in my scale indicates, “not for me, likey won't listen again,” so that's what I'll give it.
Part of me wants to like Bob Dylan because he is legendary as a lyricist, everyman poet, etc. I just really did not like anything about this, the instrumentation, his voice. Some of the lyrics were striking, but that’s it.
Bob Dylan is just not for me apparently
I'm just not a harmonica person. Or a slow-guitar person. Or a Bob Dylan person.
:/ not for me
vaut pas blowin in the wind
I’ve never been a Bob Dylan fan.
boring af lots of harmonicas
Not a fan of his signing… sorry lmao
I’m convinced the harmonica is the worst instrument of all time
Sorry music critics bob dylan is boring
I really, really tried to like this. I did not succeed. Some of the backing tracks I kind of dug, but overall this was another Dylan slog to get through.
Look. I respect Bob Dylan. The man is a poet, has a lot to say, and is a good songwriter. But this shit is just not my bag. I don't find it pleasant to listen to. Not a fan of the bluesy folk and harmonica and just general loudness of this. Dug the slow jams though. At 1hr12mn, it's also the first album in this challenge that I didn't listen to all the way through. 7-minute folk songs are absurd. The two stars simply reflect my enjoyment, not an objective rating of the music's quality. Please give me an album I'll like listening to next, mr robot algorithm.
Not my cup of tea, but I can see why it's important
I think there's a lot here, this has potential. Replace the singer with someone, who can actually sing and this might be a 4. But my god can Bob Dylan just not sing... Had to stop after 45 minutes, it's just too much.
I have always thought more of Bob Dylan’s songwriting than his music. This album has done nothing to change my view. It was a smooth, consistent listen and I feel that I would enjoy this album equally well as soft background music while performing another task, or simply reading the lyrics like poetry.
The harmonica on this album evokes feelings that I experienced as a child on a long car trip with my family where a younger sibling was allowed to weild a kazoo, uninterrupted, for hours on end. If you are able to get past that, your ears will be rewarded with the incoherent ramblings of a person who mistakes being high for actually having a personality. Like a fly in the house, Dylan some how manages to be both boring and annoying.
Rainy Day Women is super, and a great opener. It just jumps right in. Although I'm guessing most people know it as the Every Body Must Get Stoned song. Rest of the album is meh. Also didn't anyone ever like women? The song Just Like A Woman is terrible.
Rainy Day Women #12 & 35: 1 - you really should be stoned for this tbh. Pledging My Time: 2 - someone please shoot that man on the harmonica. Visions of Johanna: 6 - would've been a 7 without the harmonica. starting to sense a trend here. One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later): 5 - so infuriatingly close to being good that it actually makes it less enjoyable. I Want You: 4 - things are starting to blend together. Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again: 3 - I know Bob Dylan is supposed to be an amazing songwriter and all that but I can barely focus on the lyrics because everything else annoys me so much. like why couldn't you just write some poetry and leave it at that? did you really have to start singing it all?? Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat: 3 - wow how shocking. it sounds exactly like every other song before it. Just Like a Woman: 4 - his voice is starting to make me want to throw up. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine): 5 - at least it's kind of interesting? Temporary Like Achilles: 4 - yawn. Absolutely Sweet Marie: 3 - maybe I'll just give up on making comments. Fourth Time Around: 4 Obviously Five Believers: 4 Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands: 6 - did it have to be 11 minutes long tho?
Not bad, but not particularly fresh or interesting. Recognize a lot of influence that this has had on other musicians (Sixto Rodriguez).
Wasn’t massive on this one
I listen at work so I miss lyrics and that's where Bob Dylan shines. Just not my cup of tea so much musically
2.5 could’ve been higher if his singing wasn’t SO bad
This does absolutely nothing other than annoy me. For the voice of a generation he sure doesn’t have anything coherent to say.
Not the biggest fan of Bob Dylan.
Wow. That’s a lot of harmonica. Clocking in at 73 minutes I figured more songs would sound different. Apparently I was wrong.
il fait exprès d'être le plus chiant possible en chantant et je trouve pas ça correct ????
Ei
It doesn't sound bad, but for me is like a giant book of poetry with some guitar and some more instruments. A little bit boring
I don't know Dylan that well, his iconic songs are great and I've always wanted to dig into his catalogue a bit. This album wasn't really for me. It was too long, not very interesting and his voice was starting to annoy me by the end. I assume this was an early album and he hadn't settled on his sound yet? Some flashes of good stuff in there but I'm hoping for some of his bigger albums to come up.
I had not listened to much Bob Dylan before, it had a lot more harmonica than I expected. As people rave about Bob I felt like I needed to give this a proper listen. For me it almost hits that middle ground where I can appreciate it but not enjoy. However, his voice is so whiny and annoying it loses a star just for that. Highlights: Rainy Day Women Most Likely You Go Your Way Obviously Five Believers
Bob has his place for sure but I can only handle his singing for a couple songs before tapping out. I also feel the same about harmonica in a song sooooo...
Really not a fan.
Obviously I'm missing something here, but it does absolutely nothing for me. Hopefully the 6 other Bob Dylan albums won't be this excruciating.
bob dylan meh
Bob Dylan the songwriter, lyricist and poet: immaculate. Bob Dylan the performer, singer and guitar player: amateur at best. That's a shame because most of the underlying themes are strong. The problem is, no one but Dylanophiles can fully understand what he's saying and the music, while tightly played, sounds ripped from many blues takes and classics. In my opinion, a product of the time, and a classic for those who already have it in their rotation.
His voice becomes cumbersome after like 5 songs.
I don't get it. I think you must have been there when it was new to fully appreciate it. Favorite song: I want you.
his vocal cadence always reminded me of a child trying to explain his crayon drawing to a group of adults
It was good just not my type of music
it's ok, too much harmonica. does this list really need 5 Bob Dylan albums? Was almost like a parody of folk music, however i guess this is the guy they parody. 2
Still don't like Bob Dylan
Great songwriter, but really have to be in the mood for Dylan. He's difficult
Que les gens qui aiment Dylan viennent devant ma porte demain matin pour que je leur renverse un sceau de pisse depuis le premier étage.
Dylan je vais te foutre ton harmonica dans le cul tiens le toi pour dit.
I’m finding that the book of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die is far too heavily saturated with Bob Dylan. I understand that people like his music, but do we really need so many different albums? None of his music has blown me away so far, so I’ll admit going into this album already somewhat exasperated. Songs I already knew: none Favourites: I Want You That has probably been my favourite Bob Dylan album in terms of the music itself, but my least favourite for the vocals. His strange talk-singing is so very annoying on here, seemingly more so than the other albums I’ve heard. I’d probably have quite enjoyed this if it was purely instrumental, but his voice ruins it for me. And for that reason, I’ll likely not be returning to this again. Musically, it’s fun. Vocally, it’s hellish.
I’m sorry Jared its just too much harmonica sometimes 2.5/5
I tried. I mean I really tried. Trust me I tried. I tried so hard. But I just can't get over that voice. Sorry Bob.
I tried but I can’t stand Bob Dylan
*on listened up until track 10* Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: Yeah, he’s a charming and brilliant vocalist, just a shame for me me personally that he needs the harmonica ever present in his production Favourite song: Track 9 - Most Likely Go Your Own Way (and I’ll Go Mine)
I guess this is supposed to be Dylan's opus? I generally like Dylan but found this almost a chore to get through. This is the fifth I've reviewed in the first 200 albums. I didn't find this to be remarkably different than his other albums.
- 2.5 - Moderate vibes - A little long, but enjoyable enough to listen to
- Sometimes his singing is more like a strained version of spoken word - Strong storytelling - blues rock that makes you want to tap your foot
Was a struggle to get through. Nothing to excite you and each track is needlessly long
But I thought this was meant to be good? Like one of the best albums ever?
Two stars for Visions of Johanna but a ton of skips
A couple of good tracks, but most are just a whining Jewish-American intellectual.
Ugh. Why is Bob Dylan doing a dodgy Bob Dylan impression for this whole album. It reminds me of sitting around in a campsite with my mother's tedious hippy friend.
Score: 30 Album art: 50 I want to fucking die ThIIIs albUuum sUUUcks. If you're annoyed at how I typed that sentence then congratulations, you know what listening to this fucker sing for an hour is like. As much as I love hearing completely off key vocals set to endless verses with harmonica mixed at the fucking top of the mix, I'm very glad it's over. First couple songs are terrible. The faster paced songs liked the death grips one and obviously five believers are actually pretty decent. Especially on the latter song, Dylans singing actually matches the song and it isn't bad. Any slower, ballad type songs had me frantically searching my surroundings for a loaded gun. I cannot stand the constant ebb and flow of his vocal volume. He also never shuts up, and almost no songs have a chorus. The song will end the same way its starts regardless of length. If you aren't here for lyrics or harmonica, well then that's too bad. Not really related to this album but I'm also pissed this loser takes up 1% of this entire album list. He ain't that important, let's get some more variety please. I want to give this album a 1 but I wont because I know it's not truly that bad. The writing is interesting, and if you're here for that I can see why you could enjoy this more. But this isn't for me.
I like harmonica, but whoa, cool it dude. Okay, so the BIGGEST issue with this is his voice, it is absolutely hilarious to me. Maybe if I had been listening to this since 1967 I would have gotten used to it, but this is my first time listening to a Dylan album in full. I already knew what to expect with his voice, but having it constantly in my ears for over an hour is really hard for me. I had better get used to it though, cause I know I have another 100 Dylan albums to get through on this list. I enjoy blues, the lyrics seem well written, and this is supposedly one of the greatest albums of all time... but as of right now I cannot rate this higher. Also, the last song may be used as a form of torture in some countries.
I recognize that Dylan is probably one of the greatest songwriters of all time (if not *the* greatest), and taken together with the bluesy sound he explored on this album it works really well together. The thing is, though, (a) it's too long, both in overall length and the length of the individual songs, which drag like crazy and (b) I can't fuckin' STAND Bob Dylan's voice. Especially on this album where he sounds almost like he's doing an impression of himself. The question, then, is what to rate it? I think it would maybe be a 4 star album if his voice was less annoying. Given that I had to force myself to listen to this, I don't think I can rate it higher than a 2.
Bob dylans voice is constantly swinging and i do not like it. it doesnt sound good at all. its so fucking gross tbh, 1 good song (sooner or later)
Not a huge Bob Dylan fan, the ups and downs in his voice are kind of annoying. But I do really like the music other than that.
Dylans moan-singing was exhausting. Like baby trying to explain why it's crying.
I feel bad but I really really don't like this. I'm going to sound like every other hater but I don't like his voice, and his music is just so boring to me. Maybe one day I'll be able to appreciate it. :/
Immer das gleiche Gequäke. Außerdem viel zu lang. Wenn er bloß darauf verzichten würde, selbst zu singen, Gitarre und Mundharmonika zu spielen, wäre der Welt ein großer Dienst erwiesen.
MMMMMM L'unica che mi prende è 'Obviously Five Believers'
2 sterren
Ugh. All the songs sound the same. Sure he's got a way with words, and has some great songs - Hurricane comes to mind. But generally my favourite Dylan songs are ones performed by other bands - and they won't be on this album.
Whiney...
It’s fine I like I want you But just find it does nothing that makes me want to return to it
Never really understand the mystique behind Bob Dylan. Perhaps as a lyricist, he finds ways to resound with listeners but musically and vocally, he leaves a lot to be desired for that complete experience.
Honestly did not like this album very much but it wouldn’t be the worst thing to have on in the background.
Good lyrics, but not much else. Very surprised I didn't love Bob Dylan but may just not be for me
Skrrt skrrt
I just don't love Bob Dylan
God, man. I think that a lot of my issue with this has the potential to be the Seinfeld Syndrome. A lot of jokes on that show seem cliche and dumb to a first viewer now because they established so many of those cliches. Maybe because Bob Dylan pioneered so much, maybe it sounds shitty and derivative on a first listen in 2022. Maybe I’ve always hated Dylan’s voice and no matter what I do I can’t get past it. There are other vocalists worse than him that I can listen to…there’s something about him that just really gets me. Look some of these songs are certainly written very well, but some of the rhyme schemes on this album feel like My First Singer-Songwriter Record. The intro track has one of the worst sprees of simple one syllable rhymes I’ve ever heard. Maybe we’ll get another later Dylan record on this and he can redeem himself in my eyes, but until then I’m happy to shelve this one.
Apparently, it doesn't really matter whether the album comes from some obscure, niche band I've never heard of, or from Bob Dylan. This genre of music is just insanely boring.
I only hate his voice and his harmonica... So...
Really can’t get on with his nasal whinging
Never listened to this album before. While there are definitely some Dylan songs I really like, I did not like all on here.
Not a fan of Bob Dylan but like a woman is good. Preferred the second half of album. Voice is annoying.
