Reviews (page 13 of 13)

If I never hear stairway to heaven again, I will be totally ok.

Legendary album that has been played to death.

It's ok. Can sound a little twee at times

I liked it, first half is better in my opinion & the last song feels kinda weird with the rest of them but overall a good album

This album always seemed way overrated to me. Its not bad, its just not all that amazing.

Some very good parts

Pretty solid rock album.

Not for me

Sparkles at times, drags at others and my indifferent relationship to Led Zeppelin goes on.

Yeah, it's fine. A few great tracks, and The Greatest Song In The World, but others ramble on a bit.

This is fine

Theoretically this should be something that’s right up my alley… but there’s just little bits that annoy me… I like the rock but I’m put off by the hippy. Stairway is a dull song.

Classic rock. Would probably give it a 4 if I didn’t hate Robert Plant’s voice.

Faktiskt rätt bra

Ehhhhhhh. I like a lot of old-school rock, but I wasn't feeling this one. Except for "Stairway to Heaven" because of those amazing guitar solos and I love long rock songs. However, it was definitely not bad. I think if I was in the mood for it I'd love it and at the same time I don't care for it and don't particularly want to listen to it when not in the mood.

Obviously great in places but very dated in others.

Loud, amusing, almost mind-bendingly competent. A very complete album. Compact and muscular like corned beef. It misses something for me though - some guts - relatability - vulnerability - life something like that. In the end though, I just think the album was made for someone else.

As good as ever. Black Dog the killer track.

Not much my taste, but nice

This album is insanely front-loaded.

A great big slab of rock. Rating: 3.5/5 Playlist track: Stairway to Heaven Date listened: 05/12/22

Jimmy Page carries every album

not a very good zeppelin album. its got a couple of biggies on it but the rest of the album doesn't make use of the ridiculous talents of jones, bonham and page. i used to listen to zeppelin in awe of the ability of the guitar bass and drums, these days when i listen to them i struggle to get past plants wailing.

The best Led Zeppelin album. I can't really do Robert Plant, but this one is alright. Not sure what the "baby" count is on this one, but he's still an enormous nonce. Loves babies. Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, Baby, baby, baby, baby, Baby, baby, baby, baby, Baby, baby, baby, baby, Baby, baby, baby, baby,. Nonce.

I could really go either way on Led Zeppelin. It's good, but for the most part, not my thing.

All three stars are for Going to California

Classic.

Good good

Three really good songs. The rest are pretty mellow/zone-out songs.

Classic.

Not really my thing tbh

2.8⭐️

This band is so ridiculous and over the top, and Black Dog is maybe the most ridiculous opening track I have ever heard on a album. 20 seconds in and I don't know how anyone has a reaction other than "what am I getting myself in to here." The ballads and "When the Levee Breaks" is what makes this album, the second side of the record is very solid. Although "Stairway" is a classic, I probably never need to hear it again. Too many people have tried to argue to me that Led Zeppelin is under rated, but I think they might be the most appropriately rated band ever. I struggle giving this 4 stars, 3 seems right.

A decent if somewhat overlong in parts rock LP. At its best when it keeps things simple and tight like bravado-filled opener 'Black Dog,' but tends to stumble later on with dragging one-note ideas or overstuffed tracks (yes, this includes Stairway).

IV to the floor

Led Zeppelin IV >>>>> Teretana za žene IV

Heard this way too many times.

I get that this is a classic album or whatever but I'm not a big fan of this kind of rock. It will always just sound incredibly dated to me. Usually anything by Led Zeppelin will always sound a bit uneventful for me.

p241. 1971. 3 stars. Got to be honest, I have never cared for Robert Plant's voice, it strays too close to a hysteric shriek. He sounds like Roger Daltrey with added oestrogen. This is a schizophrenic album - a competent rock band with some good tunes that can't decide whether to play blues, be rock'n'rollers or folkies. And it suffers from the usual early 70's wankage which means a lot of the songs outstay their welcome. Didn't do it for me. Jimmy Page seems like a quite good guitarist though.

Great album. Dig the mandolin Black dog Rock and roll Stairway *Going to California* When the levee breaks

medio gede pero tuvo buenas datas

less nerdy than expected...

Got some bangers, pretty bloated though.

stairway to heaven is beautiful but other than that, thats it. not my type of rock

Definitely interesting and fun. “Stairway to Heaven” was good as it started off slow and chill then built up to a more rocklike style. I added “Immigrant Song” to my rock playlist.

Sorry, Zeppelin fans. I just don’t get the appeal. Lots of boring, endless repeating riffs here, most of which aren’t very good. I’m told Misty Mountain Hop is the worst song on here but most of the album sounds just like it to me. The only song that broke the mold and that I found actually interesting was When the Levee Breaks. I have no idea how Stairway to Heaven became the breakout hit when Levee is right there doing all the same stuff but better and with lyrics that have actual weight instead of just vague spiritual gesturing

So not as good as I thought it would be. A lot of bluesy/country style music which I know is their big influences but not what I consider Led Zeppelin

Didn’t love

Drr, I suppose I should be a fan of Led Zep but for some strange reason they do not move me...

Fine for OWG music. Like the hits

Never got along with classic rock, but led zeppelin somehow gets away with it. I’ve never understood why everyone gets so excited about stairway to heaven. I am also not a Tolkien guy. That said, I enjoyed listening through this, and I can appreciate why it’s considered one of the best of the genre.

No es una banda que me agrade mucho led zeppelin, rescato obviamente stairway to heaven y descubrí going to california que me gustó.

Not a big fan of the album. Didn't scratch the itch I was looking for in terms of rock uniqueness.

rock is not my thing...?

I usually like classic rock but this just wasn’t hitting for me unfortunately. Kept checking if I was on the last song. 2/5 Favorites: Going to California (by FAR)

Not my favourite Led Zep.

First time listening to Led Zepp ever. Like Battle of Evermore and Stairway to Heaven. Levee ok. Don't like Tolkein or screeching though. Headache land

I got all surprised and excited to discover I really like the rawness and energy of Led Zep II after all the years of rejecting it. But turns out IV hits me just the way I remember it, irritating. I really hate Plant's singing and hearing Stairway to Heaven a couple hundred times doesn't help. Rock and Roll is one Led Zep song I've always liked though, and I don't remember When the Levee Breaks at all - that's a keeper.

childhood memories where internet was a weird thing in my country so my father would download a few music videos from ares, he would play black dog nearly every day to me. Likes: Black dog -

Was hard to geht through

Can't believe I'm rating it this low, just didn't enjoy listening to it.

Songs I saved: Going to California When the levee breaks

Pretty good - couple of songs seem lengthy, ended up, skipping. Thinking there are very good at doing something that has been done before to the point where I only hear the blues. I don’t really hear their voice.

Mochte ich. Stairway to Heaven ist toll.

I felt similarly about this and the Rush album, except that I liked Rush a little more. I don't know, I don't hate this and I certainly don't think it's bad. On a musical level, it's good; I just don't care. All the songs blended together and I didn't enjoy listening to it. Maybe I'll try again someday but for now it's 2 stars since it's not the worst but I don't really like it.

Going to California

ugh idk didn’t listen kinda boring

No for me

I struggle with Led Zep, I really do. Between some truly great songs, there are a lot of "why am I listening to Lord of the Rings fanfic set to music" moments. I'm glad I listened, but I won't return to this.

Not a big Zeppelin fan, it's kinda exactly how I thought it would be

not my cup of tea

don’t think it’s my cup of tea, it was great quality but not my vibe.

I thought Zeppelin were all time greats but I was mis-Led

I liked some songs but it is probably not my genre

I knew this band would come around, I’ve not listened to much LZ I must admit for someone in their 60s, I have one track from this album on a playlist “Going to California” which I heard some years ago, and honestly I don’t like this album……

#42 A couple of bangers, expected a heavier sound overall, too much acoustic for my liking

I used to love Led Zeppelin. I was ready for this to be done before it was over.

Instrumentals feel weak, and the vocals are pretty annoying.

Maybe, probably not.

I liked this more than Physical Graffiti but I really don’t think they’re a band for me.

Another overrated album.

When I first heard Led Zepplin on the radio, I just wrote them off as head-banging music and kind of just ignored most of their work, until "Stairway To Heaven" came out. The song was just so radically different than most of their work aired on the radio, that I actually liked the song, but then I would hear, "Black Dog" and again I would kind of ignore them, so I can state that this was the first full album that I've listened to in their repertoire. Most typical song: "Black Dog" Most known song: "Stairway To Heaven" Worst song: "Four Sticks" Song I was most surprised about and liked the most: "Going To California"

Overrated

Too loud without sense

Stairway to Heaven

No Stairway. Denied.

More like Zed Leppelin, am I right?

This album cover represents my feelings about seeing "Led Zeppelin IV". O, the burden I'm about to bear. I do like the cover though. Yes, I know 'Black Dog'. Yes, it's a unique guitar part. No, Robert Plant is not Robert Smith. Yes, I wish he were. Why couldn't Johnny Cash cover this instead? Yes, I know 'Rock and Roll'. I know all the genres. 'The Battle of Evermore' made me laugh because it's like the 5th LotR-related song on this list. Guitar guys 4 Gandalf. Yes, I know 'Stairway to Heaven'. If only I could take it to get away from this song. I always considered it part of a natural class with 'Candle in the Wind' and 'Knocking on Heaven's Door', though it's the worst of those three, or maybe just the most overplayed. It does have the least annoying singing on the album so far, but is still very long and slow. 'Misty Mountain Hop' is a Hobbit reference!? You can't make this stuff up. (You gotta copy it from Tolkien.) I also know 'Going to California', which is one of the more pleasant tracks on here, being acoustic. I wonder if the Mountain Goats (who have a whole 'Going to [place]' oeuvre) made it to this list (or at least the user submitted list). I only know A Perfect Circle's cover of 'When the Levee Breaks', which has very little in common with this version (sadly). Whew, we made it. This album might have more hits than their other ones, but it's still a prototypical Led Zeppelin album, with all that entails. Fingers crossed there's no Led Zeppelin V. Highlight: the lines "it's been a long time since I rock and rolled", "you know, sometimes words have two meanings" (I do know)

Pretentious wank, tho the guitar certainly elevates.

More hippy shit

I listened to all of this.

Stairway to Heaven is incredible but I just don't fuck with this band.

I’d never listened to a full Led Zeppelin album before. It’s not like it was bad but they are kind of in the same realm as Bowie or The Beatles to me, obviously talented and influential but I don’t care at all.

Really not my cup of tea - the heavier stuff piques my interest and the performances are good, but I'm not so into the vocals and it didn't compell me much

Never liked them too much. Music is fine

Stairway to heaven is the only one that truly stayed with me, otherwise a bit meh? 2/5

Not sure if I had really listened to the non-hits before. Battle of evermore is more interesting than the overplayed stuff.

It’s not bad, but it’s not my favorite.

You know, I think if they were an instrumental band I wouldn't mind them at all, but Robert Plant's voice is just nails on a chalkboard to me so another dud from Lep Zep for me

For such a revered album this was kind of a dud... Without nostalgia, the acoustic songs did nothing for me, and the rest sounds like sports bar music -- "boomer anthems", as one reviewer put it. Stairway To Heaven is good but really doesn't live up to the hype, or even to its 5 minute buildup. I haven't lost hope for Led Zeppelin though. This last track is awesome. 2.8/5 Standout: When The Levee Breaks

Wanted to like it.

"Album number four still ain't got a title yet From now on, I'm into Led Zep It's '70s rock, the very worst you can get That's why I'm into Led Zep" - TISM

Going to California made it worth the listen

surprisingly mid. a lot of the songs blended together until “stairway to heaven”. which, granted, is a really good song. will relisten at some point because i got a lot of hate from friends with my take on this album. 2/5 for now.

Stairway to Heaven sits alongside Freebird, Hotel California and Shine On You Crazy Diamond on my inverted Mount Rushmore of music. Really do not need a 6 minute song about a battle from Lord of the Rings in my life too. I did find myself humming along to one song and thinking this is really good. But it turns out the album had ended and Spotify was automatically playing George Harrison's Wah Wah.

Round four. I'd rather let a different round inside my head tbh. Even my irl friend that decided to do 1001 quit after he got his second Led Zeppelin album. It most likely wasn't the reason, but I'd still like to believe it was Stairway to Heaven gets a pass tho

One good song. Rough reality but I speak it like I see it

I always find it telling than an album/artist is over rated when the best thing on the album is something I already know. This album is particularly hard to rate as I already was familiar with 6 of the 8 tracks. The two I didn’t know were horrendous. Stairway to Heaven sucks, and you can’t convince me otherwise. The rest was mid at best. Giving this a 2 only because I see some value in Misty Mountain Top.

Its weird

Meh, Zepelliney

he kinda right, school is out

Honestamente no fui fan, tampoco mucho que resaltar Rating:5

I can appreciate the interest here. But it's just not my shit. Dungeons and Dragons with guitars, innit.

Not for me. Obviously Stairway to Heaven an all time classic

These songs are so overplayed. You hear them everywhere. I'm so sick of this band.

Not the genre I’d usually listen to, but I appreciate the catchy guitar riffs and gritty vocals. And of course Stairway to Heaven is iconic.

my semi-recent re-exploration of the led zepp catalog reveals that on the whole i do like more of this band's material than i dont, which was a slight surprise but not an unwelcome one. there Is something to their capacity to create a song or a whole record that is more than the sum of its parts,,,the tendency towards structural and even melodic vagueness was not super appealing to me as someone getting into music through the beatles and pink floyd, but their best stuff has a lot of atmosphere and room to breathe that can be v powerful when things line up just right. which makes it all the more baffling that on this, their most famous record, the famed peak of their Mystical and Grandiose vibes, i constantly struggle to have literally any reaction at all. this isnt my least favorite led zepp (this is certainly a lot easier to tolerate than physical graffiti, and im not gonna pretend like coda is super worthwhile lol) but its probably the least vivid one, the one that leaves me most confused as to what the overall vibe and takeaway are supposed to be. in their self-consciously ambitious recording sessions in those old estates, they made something less like an album and more like a greatest hits collection (often literally given how famous most tracks here are, but mostly structurally). ive heard this record so so many times, but it always feels like it makes less sense listening to it than it does thinking about it. and if it Is just a collection of songs, i really only get any reaction from the last two, a lovely little duo of pastoral beauty and thundering apocalypse. intellectually i can imagine that for many people, that dynamic Is what defines this record , or otherwise some type of eclectic grandiosity, but for the former id take III any day and for the latter id take houses of the holy any day. i kinda just dont get it, dont care for the songs, and the record feels transitional more than a bold statement. a lot of words to say very little on my part, sorry!

Not my cup of tea.

I tried liking this, but the more intently I listened the more I just started hating it. I really think this band is highly overrated. Talented, influential, sure sure. Not that good to me though. Everytime a song was starting to click with me Robert Plant would make a sound so utterly stupid that my enjoyment just ended. Not a 1 star level album though, because there are some cool parts to these songs, but I can't put this any higher than a 2. I really hope I am almost done with the Zeppelin on this list

Still struggling to get the love for Led Zepp. This is a very average album which only pulls above mediocrity for a few tracks and feels very disjointed throughout. Thought about 3 stars, but concluded it fails to even get there.

No. No. No.

Not my thing

Dad rock in it's most plain boring form

Led Zeppelin IV often gets praise for its focused tracklist and it’s clear why. The album benefits from its shorter, more direct songs, which generally avoid the excesses found in some of their other work. Tracks like Black Dog and Rock and Roll offer solid, high-energy moments that keep the album engaging. However, it’s not without its flaws—some of the longer tracks, including Stairway to Heaven, can come off as overly self-indulgent. For those who might not be fans of the band, this album at least provides a decent introduction to their sound without overwhelming. NUMBER OF BANGERS - 3 STAND OUT TRACK - Rock and Roll

OVERRATED 🤢

An ok album

I'm such an anti Led Zeppelin-er for no reason man. This album popped up today and I was like "mannnnnnn". I'll give it an honest listen and report back. No way this is beating Sabbath Vol. 4. Yeah nah, still can't fuck with Zepp.

Black Dog +++ Stairway to heaven +++ Reste bof

Not listened yet

This, somehow classic, album starts of rough for me. After a couple tracks of rock-rock, it turns to some kind of kitschy medieval knight-rock. This includes STH, which is admittedly kind of good, but also corny as hell. Luckily it picks up a bit towards the end, and the last couple of tracks are pretty good. 2.2

Alltså de va nog mäkta tråkigt. Ja förstår inte. Gilla nästsista sången

My vote for the widest gap between the good and the bad so far. The iconic songs are iconic, the ones that aren’t are nigh unlistenable

i skipped most of Stairway and i WILL NOT apologize I actually really like Black Dog

FAVO: Stairway to heaven

Nei takk, hækkar um eina stjörnu fyrir When The Levee Breaks trommusoundið og svo aðra fyri John Bonham almennt.

Ekki meira Led Zeppelin fyrir mig.

The community average for this one is so high, too high. Realistically this could round up, but I know there are at least two Zeppelin records I like a bit more, so I’m leaving space for them. Misty Mountain Hop is a cool song, especially when Plant isn’t going “OoooOOOOOh Yeah!” I do like the rhythm section in the band, too bad how overshadowed they always are.

overplayed and overhyped. not my favorite group so bias against all they produce.

Don't think I'm a led zeppelin fan. Obviously stairway to heaven is great but not keen on the rest of it.

It’s ok

I've listened to this album again and again over the years in the hopes that this time i'll finally understand the universal critical acclaim around it, and it never happens. I still think half the songs on here are solid (first two, stairway and levee) but the rest are passable at best. 50% is a pretty atrocious score for supposedly one of the best rock albums of all time. 'Rock and Roll' is such a good song, but the energy of the album just gets sucked out after it's done until 'Levee...' suddenly pops up at the end.

Meh, 4/10

it wasn't bad! some of the lyrics were really beautiful so maybe i'll just listen to this album by reading the lyric sheets from now on

Can't dig this band at all

Basically the lord of the rings of music, overhyped and mystical and people who like it need to wash. Lost another star for jimmy page being a nonce.

First few songs very samey and repetitive. Song 4 a little different but meh. Stairway to Heaven is not all that. Around minute 7 has a bit of personality but nah.

Overrated record. Overrated band

crazy how much led zep im getting. i just get led zep ll a few albums ago. I think I liked this one better, but not by a lot. i thought the album cover was interesting though. wanted to know why they chose it.

Not bad, not great

blech. its fine but -1 star for being too famous.

chapu je to klasika ale neni to uplne muj vkus uz. stairway to heaven still hoes hard tho

2.5 pretty dope, some top songs

Heb hier geen zin in vandaag.

Didn't care about any of those songs. not even the popular ones. Didn't hate them

Favorieten zijn "Stairway to Heaven" en "Going to Califironia". **

When the Levee Breaks is a good track, the rest of this album is pretty bad. Stairway to Heaven is one of the worst songs to get constant air play on classic rock radio.

These guys are pedophiles

Unfortunately, I am not a Zeppelin fan.

Every so often I'll listen to a bit of Led Zeppelin to see if I still dislike them as much as I think I do. Yep, they're still massively not my thing.

FFS…Tom. Not the very worst of the LZ albums thus far but very close, I shudder to think how many more there will be to endure. One star.

Not for me. At all.

Yuk, I can only hear a gross child kidnapper and his close friends

« When the Levee Breaks ». Huit minutes, huit interminables minutes. « There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold… ». Des tentatives de folk acoustique (« Going to California », « The Battle of Evermore »).

3 is so much better

I would rather listen to howler monkeys this guy

Never liked them and never will.

easiest 1 ever. one of the worst vocalists ever, with some godawful fucking lyrics. i wish they ditched that shit and made the band instrumental

Fuck Zeppelin. Overrated bunch of theives. I used to say Misty Mountain Hop is the worst song ever recorded, but this whole album is filled with songs that are equally as bad. If you're gonna rip off other bands, pick better songs.

Not a fan 😫 I'm so sorry music lovers

Dread Led Zeppelin. It's the earnestness. All those guitars. The riffs. The ridiculous singing.

Just not my cup o tea

很棒

shut up.

I'd believe you if you told me this was the demo for an album that would eventually be good once they worked out all of the myriad issues, I'd skeptically believe you. Best compliment I can give is that nothing on IV is offensively bad, but I will not concede that it is good. Some glimmers of greatness, pretty much all contained within Stairway. Infliencial sure, but we should normalize Led Zeppelin as being a very mid band. All that said, I do like When the Levee Breaks.

Simply not into metal. Started 1st song & disconnected.

kiddie diddler

Lol. No. An album of car commercial OST. Song thieves. And worse.

Unerträglich

Ehrliche, handgemachte Rockmusik.

Last song of the night, ladies choice and no funny business out there! Probably would reach for a number of other releases from this young up and coming band but I understand why this is here.

white man trash

Led Zeppelin sucks. The fact that you started with this dreck does not bode well for this project.

Thank god Bowie and Ferry happened to save us from these lot of rip-off, thieving hippies

Not a fan of Zeppelin, never have been. I really wanted to turn this off.

Led Zeppelin are the biggest thieves in musical history. Stairway to Heaven is stolen. Taurus by Spirit. Look it up.

Nope Stairway to heaven beginning is decent but gets worse 1/2 out of 5
