Reviews (page 13 of 13)
Kind of a Leonard Cohen type, just not taking himself as seriously.
Maybe it is simply not for me. I can see the album being extremely cosy and nice. But to be honest, it bores me.
Not my jam. Sounds like if I was in a hipster dive bar and was trying too hard to be slightly punk or rockabilly.
I just don't care for Lou Reed's music.
Album 3/1001 Best song: I’m so free

Spotify suggests this album to me constantly. I listened to it. I do not understand the praise this album gets. Not the worst, but not good, IMO. Looking forward to seeing what other people think.
Wasn't feeling this. Had to stop and listen to it later over the weekend.
Like a 2/5. Walk on the Wild side and Vicious does a lot of heavy lifting. He just isn't a good singer
Lou Reed puzzles me. The man CANNOT hold a tune to save his life. And yet he is held up on such a high pedestal. You listen to John Lydon, and the Sex Pistols' music is... not super-melodious. But you let it slide, because it's punk. It's not Sinatra, it's not the most croon-y. But you hear "Walk On The Wild Side," and most of the time he's not really holding a melody there. But it fits the song ok. But other songs on the album... doesn't fit as well (i.e. "Satellite of Love," "Goodnight Ladies"). Really needed to have someone who was really able to hold a tune. The two songs of Reed's everyone knows are on this album, and I will give him that. "Perfect Day" and "Walk On The Wild Side" are great songs. But other songs on it are real head-scratchers (I'm looking at you, "Andy's Chest."). They are just total nonsense. And maybe that's from Bowie's suggestions, turning this more into a glam record. Lou Reed's inability to keep the tune just really puts me off on most of the songs. Anyone else sings these tunes with this level of ability, and they're laughed at. Reed does it, and he's a genius. I just don't get it. But I'll give him 2 stars for those 2 classic songs, but that's all you get from me.
Perfect Day Walk On The Wild Side
What a bore
Like Neil Young but slightly better voice and slightly worse songs. I hate Neil Young.
Boring. Velvet underground 2 days ago and now lou reed... come in generator! Generate me something good.
For me, it was a forgettable album. The notable exception was take a walk on the wild side glass track. I like that one overall two out of five.
Only a 2 from me. I feel a bit bad about this actually since it's so famous, and for real Wild Side and Perfect Day are both great tracks. But somehow the rest of the record feels like a bit of a joke haha a throwaway. I think this whole 'glam rock' thing doesn't hit a bullseye with me in general.
Lou Reed was never my favorite.
Wasn't shit but quite boring to me
Did not like this, quite boring to me
This is totally from my past, many years ago, 2 stars
Pretty sure I only knew two Lou Reed songs before this. I've never particularly cared for "Walk on the Wild Side," and I actively dislike "Perfect Day" (at least in part because Hollywood uses it ironically during scenes of chaos and destruction so fucking much it makes me want to scream), but I was hoping an entire album of Lou Reed would change my perception of him. It did not. Is it just me or is he kind of dorky? I don't know, but this isn't for me.
I have two of my very beloved songs on this album, so I have some expectations. … It didn’t live up to my expectations.
Favoritas: -Perfect day -Wagon Wheel -I´m so free
"You have a hairy minded pink bare bear"! The lyrics don't make sense too frequently here, the music is OK, but not outstanding. There are iconic songs (Perfect day and Walk on the wild side) that will always be popular, but the rest is no more than OK.
It was an eccentric album. I did not particularly get into this album. A couple of the songs were familiar. It was relatively short. No need to revisit
Just can't get into Lou. There was a few decent songs but overall just didn't like it.
meh
Alright.
Eh.
Iconic songs but can’t get past some grating issues
going to need someone to explain this to me.. besides take a walk on the wild side (which isn't ageing very well tbh) its a pretty boring album.. maybe if i was hanging out with all the other cool kids like andy warhol i might understand should lou reed be cancelled for slut shaming? i don't know, i didn't say that..
I only knew one song.
I just don't think Lou Reed is for me. Something about his music just doesn't do it for me. Walk On the Wild Side is great and all but I didn't really enjoy half the album. Will return for another listen if my moods different but its a 2/5 at the moment.
Jello shots and mario party and a banadana hunt
Not bad, very monotonous but that's just how Lou Reed rolls
This is apparently Glam Rock. It's an odd genre since it seems to be more about what you wear than what you perform. That being said, it does seem to feature an almost dead pan singing style. It's rough for a whole album. I can't get behind it. It does have Walk on the Wild Side, which is great. It shows the dead pan approach can work, but it's not enough to save the album.
The Bowie-Ronson influence in the production and instrumentals is very obvious and great. However, the elephant in the room is that they're working around a bad singer. They cover for it well in some of the tracks (Perfect Day, Hangin' 'Round, Walk on the Wild Side, I'm Free), but he honestly just sounds bored on most of the other ones. Favorite track, non-Wild Side division: I'm Free
This album just felt like his stuff with velvet underground but worse in every way. Took a perfect formula and got the wrong answer. I’ll give it a two. If I ever revisit this album I hope I am able to enjoy it.
A few songs of interest but not particularly great
Não gosto de Lou Reed
I like velvet underground so I was surprised by how much I disliked this album. If it weren’t for walk on the wild side, this album might’ve been a 1 cuz songs like Andy’s chest were awful
Sixtysish weird pop music. Misogynistic and racist. Has the one song that “can I kick it” sampled
My first Lou Reed album. Really enjoyed the guitars and piano, vocals a bit bland, and overly ordinary, though with interesting and poetic lyrics. Production reminiscent of Stooges meet Bowie, but lacking the edge. Really feel like I'm missing some edge here. Vicious and Satellite of Love are possibly the best tracks. Would be rated higher, but gets significantly weaker towards the back-end.
Nah, not for me. Perfect Day was better as a cover by loads of different people, none of the others are particularly memorable
Almost gave this a bonus star just for making me laugh
Didn't like the whole album, just a couple of songs.
Well, I tried. I just do not get Lou Reed whatsoever.
Unimpressive vocals, odd subject matter for the lyrics, his “hits” I liked but his non-hits were big misses for me.
the superhits are pretty great - Perfect Day, Walk on the Wild Side. But, in general, this album is just kind of annoying to me. Part of me wants to be generous and give it a 3 for those classics. But I won't
Ik trek die zang echt niet, maar voor de rest best ok.
This second album from Lou Reed is an influential piece of the glam rock genre. Most of the songs on this album have become Reed's most popular ones. I did not find this album to be moving, but it was a fun listen!
It was ok. Meh+
Transformer for the most part is a well-balanced album...Undoubtedly, some credit can be tossed to David Bowie (producer). The album exhibits some deep cuts along with some seemingly breezier tracks. Worth a listen to, but would never be my go-to.
I know Lou Reed is a big name in '70s and '80s rock and roll, and his guitar work is pretty solid, but listening to this felt like a chore more than any of the albums so far (even Smashing Pumpkins). He sounds like he's been forced to record this and could not care much less about any of it.
Not for me
1 good track, the rest was weird
yeah not my thing....
ok 2
2/5 quite forgetable :\
I only really knew 'Walk On The Wild Side' before listening to this one - and reading the Wiki, I'm not surprised that it was produced by Bowie. It feels like a dirtier, less polished Bowie/glam rock. I definitely prefer Bowie, this felt like it needed a lot more fine tuning for me. But I can see how it was key to the glam rock scene. My top pick is 'Satellite of Love'.
Wasn't a big fan of this album, unfortunately. It just didn't really appeal to me. But I did like a couple of songs - like Vicious and Walk On The Wild Side.
2 good songs (walk on wild side and perfect day) rest is blah
I think I remember Lou Reed being one of the greats but I can't remember. Just like I won't remember listening to this album after I'm done and more focused on the actual better albums that came out this week in 2021. Some of these were entertaining but for the most part I found him a little creepy and it wasn't just because of the album cover.
'Berlin', sein drittes Solo-Album, hat mir ja überhaupt nicht gefallen, dieses hier finde ich besser, und 'Walk on the Wild Side' ist natürlich ein überragender Song. 'Perfect Day' fand ich noch nie so besonders, der Rest ist auch eher so meh bis ok.
Never been a huge lou reed fan. I haven’t listened to any of his or VU’s stuff in a long time so I figured this would be a good opportunity to re-evaluate my feelings. Turns out yep, it still sucks.
got berlin some time ago. first song: still dislike his voice. music is not awful but it does nothing for me. really, really want to emphasize how much i dislike his voice and monotonous delivery. on the second song now and i appreciate when he sings a little bit louder with a little more power cause at least it's giving something, can't stand his murmuring. 'walk in the wild side' is surely a song, seems like the most popular one but i can't say i've ever heard it. huh 'satellite of love' sounded familiar, there's a remix that i still hear on the radio. i do like the remix so kudos to him for providing the base for it, hopefully it can be on spotify someday. so, i'm done. really don't dig his lyrics, which i guess is the main appeal for ppl that do like this. it gets a 2 solely because of satellite of love.
Never liked this album.
Eh, it was alright. His voice has never bothered me as I like the velvet underground but most of the songs were just a bit naff
I’ve lived with Lou Reed music for most of my life, due to the musical tastes of my father (and I assume my opinion on any other kind of 70s-90s rock or new wave albums on this list will be influenced by it), but even knowing the three “hit” songs on the album, _Perfect Day_ (made famous via _Trainspotting_), _Walk on the Wildside_ and _Satellite of Love_, this wouldn’t be an album that I would want to listen to. I think some of the songs are also jokes?
Solid rock stuff, walk on the wild side is a classic for sure
the kind of lazy, workmanlike rock drudgery that i find totally uninspiring.
not for me
I am just not a spoken word-ish singing guy.
Vicious - 3 Andy's Chest - 1.5 Perfect Day - 3 Hangin' 'Round - 2 Walk on the Wild Side - 4.25 Make Up - 0.5 / what the hell is this song Satellite of Love - 3 Wagon Wheel - 2 New York Telephone Conversation - 0 / what the fart I hope I never hear this again I'm So Free - 2 Goodnight Ladies - 2.5 Not my favourite album, I don't really like his voice. Walk on the Wild side is a highlight.
Despite a few outstanding songs I didn't enjoy the album as a a whole. Reckon you would have to be more invested in the artist to appreciate the art in this one.
I liked a couple of songs, meh album. 2/5.
Make Up is the only one that doesn't sound half-arsed to me idk
i kind of hate and kind of love his voice. i didn’t like this album.
Booty
Imagine what the cultural zietgiest would be if Make Up was the one that made it into the public conscious instead of Walk On The Wild Side. Also Lou Reed is kinda terrible at singing???
This sounds so generic the 2nd track sounds like ahh It was so bad my spotify started not working to save my ears from this horrid creation. But sadly I had to finish it. Over all 1/5 Would much rather listen to whatever katseye is putting out.
what is this.......
Sleazy glam rock and art rock built from loose guitars, piano-driven arrangements, understated rhythms, and dry conversational vocals drifts like wandering through neon-lit alleyways at 3 a.m. with a poet who’s equal parts detached observer and provocateur—stylish, decadent, and unevenly fascinating. At its best, it feels effortlessly iconic.
Pre Listen: Yet another band, album, and artist I have no knowledge of off the top of my head. No expectations going in on this one, absolutely blind. Notable Tracks: Viscous - The best song I heard on this album. I say best, but I wasn't really a fan of anything on here, it's just this was the only song that wasn't absolutely terrible. Satellite of Love - I quit listening to the album on this track. Trash. Post Listen: So I guess this an early example of Emo Rock? Half the time Lou Reed's vocals make him sound like he's about to fall asleep. He looks positively bored in the album cover. The music they've produced left me bored as well. They sound like a Walmart-brand amalgamation of The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and a hint of the Kinks, but without any of the fun, creativity, or raw talent. Songs about sex, drugs, and other adult themes without any talent in the actual sound of the music or lyrics might've been unique in the 60's and earlier, but by the 70's it's so played out. I guess they could be applauded for some positive themes about queerness in a time when that kind of thing could get you exiled from your community, but their music sounds so terrible, it may have contributed to LGBTQ hatred unironically. This will be my first album I couldn't finish because of how grating it sounded. 1/5 Stars.
I like it. Was not familiar with Lou Reed before this and tried to kept it that way for the initial listen. This might be one of my favorite voices that I've heard. He really shines in Perfect Day, which was easily my favorite track and probably one of my favorites from every album we've gone through so far. Unfortunately kind of an okay album altogether. The b-side was not good (I don’t know what New York Telephone Conversation was trying to do but I don’t care I didn’t like it at all). I’m So Free was probably the strongest track here but it didn’t stop the second-half of my listen from feeling like a slog. EDIT: Actually never mind this was some trash dude.
I'll just take a walk on the wild side
Not my vibe
Nico was the best thing that ever happened to The Velvet Underground. What a shame that Lou Reed et al. were terrible people. I will never be a fan.
Not only was this annoying to listen to but he was also kinda a terrible person and it bleeds though here
That might have been interesting from a music-theoretical perspective back then. But I don’t understand why anyone would listen to it today unless they’re a music historian. I had to struggle my way through most of it.
ngeke bafo Maybe i just did not get it but i was not impressed at all. White mediocrity goes crazy! I was not impressed by the instrumentals, the singing was horrid. He does this sing-talking thing. How this album is apart of this 1001 albums is beyond me! sies
I wish I could see what everyone else loves about this album but I can't sadly. I do like David Bowie so I thought I'd like this one but nope, not for me
nursery rhyme melodies with the most boring voice reading awful lines over them
.eh
Walk On the Wild Side was interesting
Weird and didn’t get through it all 1/5
Not a fan
not my thing
Terrible 1 good song 1/5
Don't find interesting
Sux
Not for me
2/10 i didnt enjoy this album, i wish the vocals were higher or more clearer. i did not add a single song from this album to my playlist.
I hated it
not my thing. it was alright.
I wish Lou Reed would transform into something more expressive and interesting. Fuck this is boring.
Honnêtement, j'ai vraiment pas aimé. Je me suis vraiment ennuyée, les mesures à trois temps avec le trombonne c'était super kitch. J'avais envie d'écouter autre chose dès la moitié de l'album.
Not my kind of music 1/5
Ärligt talat, jag orkar inte se lou reeds nylle nått mer, jag gillar inte hans sång, jag gillar inte hans texter, jag gillar inte musiken, jag gillar inte produktionen.
Demon.
hmm kinda slow, idk, not a fan
Not my style
Nah.
Possibly the most boring collection of songs I have ever heard
2.5
It's like Lou thinks he can sing, but he can't. Then everyone else thinks he can sing too, for some reason, so he made a bunch of people like him, and all he does is ramble on with music going on in the background.
Just not crazy bout his voice
Apart from perfect day and walk on the wild side there is a lot of clunky wobbly voiced shenanigans on this record. It would be trendy to say this is a great record. It really isn't though. Reeds voice is enough to set a thousand car alarms off. A mercy killing would be to pick up the lp and throw it against the wall. Its a 2 song album.
This sucks. Never heard of lou reed before, had zero expectations. But the album cover evoked the feeling this would be very boring and it was right. This man isnt singing, hes just reading the lyrics to the rhythm. With a very soulless voice, might i add. Theres just something annoying and creepy about his voice. At every song i was asking why anyone would make this music. What was the vision, please tell me as i cant see it. Now that i am familiar with lou reed, i know to avoid him like the plague. Thank you, 1001 albums I would give a 0/5 if i could.
Nope. Not for me.
This is album is masterfully produced and recorded. This is the conclusion of anything good I have to say about it. The only worse album I have encountered on this list was a Velvet Underground album. There's a common thread here, and it's "Lou Reed fucking sucks." The Velvet Underground album, I wish I could have rated zero stars. Since this one is better than that, it has earned the one star I'm giving it ⭐
Bit too old and not really my taste
Some boring white guy talking over guitar
it’s annoying i’m sorry, i’m not in the 70s rock and roll phase anymore and his voice is quite grating. struggled to get past the first song. unable to appreciate it 2/10
Basic ass lyrics, maybe it was before my time. Best song is Walk on the Wild Side. Will probably lever listen again. If anything ATCQ made Lou Reed more famous.
We’ve listened to a ton of artists so far on this list, lots that I’ve enjoyed, many more that I’ve found to be unenjoyable for one reason or another. I’ve yet to find another vocalist that I despise more than Lou Reed. His vocalizations are just unreasonably annoying. I can’t even put my finger on why, but something about the way he enunciates words in his music is absolutely infuriating. From a songwriting perspective this album is vapid, bland, and frankly just fucking bad. Musically it’s boring, predictable, and just simple in the worst way possible. I don’t ever want to hear Lou Reed again. You should know that my 1* rating is incorrect, as it being above 0 implies some sort of redeeming qualities, but there just isn’t any. 1-5* rating is a mathematically flawed system and this album deserves negative stars.
Are you kinda curious about this whole “music” thing, but find it overwhelming and scary when people use words with more than two syllables? Do you think singing is overrated, and that simplicity doesn’t always need to be elegant? Do you think controversial lyrics are a good substitute for something approaching a point? If you answered “yes” to any or all of these questions, this might be the album for you! With such titillating lines as “the funny thing is what happened to her nose / it grew until it reached all of her toes / now when people say her feet smell, they mean her nose”, this album has the nutritional value for mind and soul as some oxycontin-laced children’s cereal poured with rotten milk.
more like Boo Reed
Practically noise
"And the colored girls say Doo, doo-doo, doo-doo [you think this album is kinda bad]?"
Track 1 (Vicious) Didn't care for it Track 2 (Andy's Chest) Flop Track 3 (Perfect Day) isn't bad - not going to listen to again Track 4 (Hangin' Around) Didn't care for it. Track 5 (Walk on the Wild Side) Had its moments, mostly boring. Track 6 (Make Up) I don't care for Track 7 (Satellite of Love) Best track so far, might save Track 8 (Wagon Wheel) Actually this might be the best track... still mid Track 9 (New York Telephone Conversation) Feels like an ok "glue" track, not really sure what it's gluing together... Track 10 (I'm So Free) Too long, don't care Track 11 (Goodnight Ladies) Too long, didn't care for it Struck me as minimalist. I didn't care for the musicality. I didn't care for the choice of instruments or mixing. I'm not a super fan of these intentionally "low-effort" styles of singing, especially when it's an entire album of that. Maybe the message was important back then... but that doesn't mean I have to like it today. This album is already on the shorter end, yet I felt like most of the tracks were overstaying their welcome. 1/5
I don't like this song because of what he is saying . I don't like any of the song I do not recommend it .
the first song started off weird I don't like it just from hearing it in the first few lyrics its buns why are the lyrics like that they is weird cs why is it saying hey babe or smth idk its bad I would never want to hear this song again. this song is buns I don't like this type of music js to lyk its really bad don't ever play anything like this again.
Nope. Absolutely not. This is considered good music?
I don't really like this. Not terrible but not for me.
I pretty much hate this. Mostly what I dislike has to do with his vocal performance, which I understand doesn't make sense with my status as a big fan of The Strokes, since everyone thinks Reed and Casablancas apparently sound alike? I see it a little bit in the delivery but Casablancas actually legitimately sings. Reed doesn't, even when he sings intelligible notes. I was really surprised to recognize two songs. I would maybe listen to one of these songs again. The only song I truly like his performance on that I've heard is "Some Kind of Nature" by Gorillaz. And after hearing the Velvet Underground and Nico and now Transformer, I'm feeling like that must've been autotuned or otherwise digitally altered. If nothing else, there his voice is surrounded or carried by much more lush instrumentation (and Damon Albarn's voice) than anywhere else.
Not for me. 1/5
Boring album. Did not like at all.
Fun Fact: this album is completely unavailable for streaming on any Chinese music apps. I had to use YouTube instead. I would like to think this restriction has nothing to do with the trans symbology of the cover, and is simply because this album is so bloody boring.
"Walk on the Wild Side" Today's Democrat theme song. Way ahead of its time. Sorry Lou. The Glam Rock genre did not move me.
Didn't like
70’s
Weak vocals, forgettable songs, and severely dated lyrics rendered this album embarrassing to listen to. Some good instrumentals keep it afloat (Perfect Day is a great song, and the last minute of Satellite of Love is really hypnotic), but I could get better versions of these experiences on a David Bowie release. And the colored girls go: "Meh, I'll pass." 1.4/5 -> 1/5
At first this sounded alright but the more it went on the more irritating I found it. Some of the lyrics are absolutely shit and Lou Reed was a right mardy twat.
Not for me
It bored me to death. That's all.
No likey.
Perfect Day and Take a Walk on the Wild Side are by far the best thing about this album. Weirdly sounds like either Bowie or show tunes for the rest of it. Vicious for the former, Goodnight Ladies for the latter. Not sure how I feel about it over all. If it wasn’t for the two classic songs, I think I’d hate it - his voice grates. In fact, this has made me dislike the only Lou Reed songs I already knew. 3/10
I hate Lou Reed's singing, makes every song either instantly more boring or like you have slugs in your ears. Whatever salvageable song this album may have is immediately followed by the most annoying slimy garbage it's a shame really. Stand-out: I'm So Free
How is Lou Reed as popular as he is/was. This is awful
Can't stand the vocals. The only songs I could stand to listen to were Perfect Day and Take a Walk on the Wild Side. TaWotWS is only listenable if I can block out the vocals. Love the groove and the sax solo. The rest of the album was painful to listen to. 1 star, bumped up from 0 stars because: 1) This site won't let you give 0 stars, and 2) those
I actively hated the lyrics of every song on this album. I wouldn't mind listening to instrumental versions, though.
Not great. I was not a fan of his voice. A few recognisable songs but overall did not enjoy
OHHH WALK ON THE WILD SIDE IS SAMPLED BY A TRIBE CALLED QUEST still don't like it
meh
the most interesting thing about this album was ATCQ sampling walk on the wild side and i think that says enough
i do not like it :/
Uncomfortable to listen to
Nicht meine Art von Gesang
Not my thing
Interesting but really annoying
I've never understood the appeal of Lou Reed's campy lyrics. Transformer has never struck me as being the seminal albums many people bill it as. The songwriting is basic, lyrics are amateurish, the recording quality is mediocre, and there was much better music being produced at the time. How this ever made it to release is beyond me.
Some ok instrumentation but awful singing.
Might be my least favorite album ever.
Not a fan… couldn’t make it all the way through the album lol
One song. Don't really care for Lou otherwise.
Not so much a music album, more like talking style poetic lyrics. Songs out of tune really because it came across more like talking vs singing.
oh my god this shit is so boring lmaoo
Not a fan. Lyrics in "Walk on the Wild Side" turned raunchy.
Whew. Not a fan. I'm not a fan of his voice, which made getting into the lyrics difficult. But even at that, I wasn't very into the lyrics either :). Instrumentation was ok, but not necessarily in my wheelhouse. 1 down, only 1000 more to go!
Just odd....the tunes were somewhat catchy....but the lyrics were dark. Nothing really got me excited. Sorry.
I'm really not sure why this album made the list. It honestly sounds like it was made by a local band in a small town. Unrefined. Singing and lyrics are cringy. Not a fan.
Sleep inducing
bleh
So far this is not something I am enjoying listening to. The singing seems lazy and it's not very catchy. Maybe it's just not my style of music? Overall this just isn't very good music, lyrics, or singing. It all sounds lazy and is not very catchy at all. Nothing is drawing me into it. Pretty amazed at all of the high reviews and praise. It's like my ears are hearing something completely different. 1 out of 5 is being generous.
I think I liked Bob Dylan better.
Walkin on the Wild Side theme from Dewey (Malcolm in the Middle)
Meh
Didn't grab me.
Boring
At the time I rated this, the average rating was 3.74. That's 3.74 too much. This is a piece of garbage. I can't think of anything positive to say about, except Walk on the Wild Side has a cool bass line. People stop fooling yourselves. This is not good. Least hated song: Walk on the Wild Side.
Not again... As bad as I expected!
might be one of the worst albums I have ever heard "new york phone conversation" or whatever the album was called was so fucking dumb I wanted to singe all my nerve endings
Don't like Lou Reed. I think he's an annoying, pretentious ass.
Not for me
I don’t like Lou Reed
Meh…
I can't definitively tell you that the Velvet Underground is the worst music I've ever heard. But I wouldn't argue against it. I'm still angry that I got 2 VU albums in one week last month so getting Lou Reed today makes for a frustrating morning - but let's go, surprise me, Lou, you jackass. I knew the big hit of course but nothing else. Fortunately the album isn't nearly as awful as the sonic sewer of VU (how could it be). The music here is just fine at best - nothing totally unlistenable [yes my bar was extremely low this morning] but also not really ever interesting. And of course now we have to talk about the vocals - I'm never going to get around the double feature of Lou's dry (and fng terrible, just 100% terrible) vocals with distractingly-weird and awful lyrics. Having said that...if you're someone who really zeroes in on unorthodox / unsettling or weird lyrics (e.g. drugs, sexuality, etc.) - I could see the appeal here on that level. For me I'm always going to connect with the music first and it's just not enjoyable. So yes - this is not anywhere close to what I like in rock music and another 1 for Lou. If he's on this list again at all let alone anytime soon I'm calling the editors. 2/10 1 star.
Lou took a Walk on the Wild Side before it was hip to do so. That was one of my favorite so many years ago. Different piece of work can’t say I was impressed, just different🤔 Album cover is so boring… he should have followed his “wild Side” theme and done something way out there.
could not tolerate. Not music
my account
What a piece of trash! The awkwardness of the band trying to play a nice tune while the lead singer is raping the microphone is too much. At the start of each song he seems to pick a note and just sticks with that, barring half a note up and down once in a while. The Beastie Boys made horrible music, but at least they didn't claim they could sing - they just had a fun time recording. This dude is so much worse in that he had potential of producing nice music, if only he would shut the flip up and let his band play. Disliked, unsubscribed!
One of my fave albums. Satellite of Love ranks in my top 5 songs.
Samey, but fun I like some of the jazzy instrumentation. Reminds me heavily of Pavement's Terror Twilight, also Strokes-y. A sort of apathy/ wry look at the everyday with a combination of an appreciation of the good/ beautiful parts. Fav. Songs: Vicious, Perfect Day, Take a Walk on The Wild Side, Goodnight Ladies Least Fav.: Satellite of Love, Wagon Wheel, New York Conversation.
