Reviews (page 13 of 14)

A really consistent album and easy to see why it's a classic but I think it hasn't aged perfectly. Not much staying power in an album full of by the numbers love songs.

Lot of Beatles songs I've never heard before. Fun.

Obviously a good album. Some great songs highlight the potential ability of The Beatles but there are also a few skippable and non-memorable tracks.

Beatlemania! Älskar också McCartneys Things We Said och Lennons If I Fell och I'll Be Back. Finns några svagare spår, som I'll Cry Instead, When I Get Home och You Can't Do That. (Bästa refräng (ever): Can't Buy Me Love) Bästa låt: And I Love Her.

Classic Beatles, though I greatly prefer Revolver onwards. Some new tracks in here for me.

The lesser known songs are better. Good background

Not the era of The Beatles that I live, or ever really listen to, to be perfectly honest but you cannot deny that this a a great pop record. There are about four songs on this album alone that most bands of that era would have killed to write

An alright album before they hit their creative stride. Good for the 60's though and some moments of brilliance.

Contains a couple of great songs and the rest is all fairly likeable stuff

Quite a fun listen but I don't see the appeal of early Beatles; every song is about love and doesn't really sound too dissimilar from other artists of the time.

Solides album, Beatles halt

Chipmunk

A Hard Day's Night

A few I've heard before but a lot that's pretty forgettable and repetitive.

Just got a chance to listen to it, i could jam to beatles tunes make me wanna do the 1960s mash potato also see how they influenced load of current day stuff 2 beatles out of 4

Must of absolutely slapped at the time, the similarities to modern pop are pretty crazy, but rating it as an album outside of its context, not something I'd revisit. Highlights: I Should Have Known Better And I love Her Things We said Today

I’m not a huge fan of old Beatles stuff

A good album but quite a few filler tracks and now sounds dated.

The Beatles before they became less experimental and interesting (IMO). Nicely crafted pop songs.

Schlanke 2.8

3.5 beatles is weird, i can tell there is something good in there but I can't quite appreciate.

Classic record, certainly not my favorite Beatles record, but a great one from their early era.

Gotta love the Beatles

Songs: A Hard Day's Night, Anytime At All

uh oh. the beatles are in their feels again

Still not sold on the Beatles

Need to have another listen I think. All the jealousy and insecurity got a bit much at points - you blokes were the biggest band in the universe for goodness sakes

Fav Song: And I Love Her

Et par evig bra klassikere, men mye love love love - mer platt enn senere Beatles

Too ballady for me but the big singles still slap

1964. Key Songs: A Hard Day's Night, Can't Buy Me Love, You Can't Do That

I've always thought the Beatles are one of the most overrated bands of all time. It's not BAD (it's honestly pretty catchy) but it just simply isn't the high point of pop culture people claim. This album is full of cheesy 60s shit lyrics, doesn't even have the innuendo other artists SLIPPED IN to get past the smut police. It's a 3/5.

Alright this was surprisingly one note kind of interesting to see them before getting weird with it

Not my personal music taste. But surprisingly alright. All music sounded the same?

They're catchy but I don't understand why it's a must-listen. I don't think they're anything special.

Would you look at that? ANOTHER Beatles album

I s'posed at some point I'd get another Beatles album, as if there wasn't enough already. I only really like the "white album", although I have given a 4 for "Rubber Soul". This is wishy-washy, jangly, lovey-dovey, 60s teen pop and should have remained in the 60s. A great example of why I don't really like The Beatles.

If this were any other artist this would get 2 stars. I get it's the Beatles and they are incredibly influential but it does sound dated. It's their music like this (pre-Rubber Soul) that makes me have to argue to my friends why the Beatles aren't overrated.

they're cool and all but they're not all that, will never understand beetlemania, some of them ugly af, women HAD to have been enchanted under spells. and they've had better albums, nothing too memorable in this one

this should be listened to when at a barbeque. you should be eating a hot dog with too much ketchup. there should be a football that keeps nearly hitting you. you should talk to a neighbour you never thought you'd have anything in common with. you should dance with a child who you're not sure belongs to. you should have a home made apple ice lolly.

I have never reconciled The Beatles’ series of simple pop rock songs in the mid-60s with the scale of their success. The lyrics are Year 10 school poems (hmmm… maybe that’s why).

Not for me.

eh. not a fan

301/1089 Didn’t need to listen to this one before i die i fear… at least not when The Beatles have so many entries on the list and all that i’ve heard so far are better than this 45/100

Not their best. Feels like the beatles before they really found their identity. probably groundbreaking for its time, but really nothing for me to come back to on here. Songwriting is solid, just hasn't aged incredibly well for a first listen.

A few good tracks

I'm not much of a critic, but I think it was a very mellow album where each song sounded like they were looking for comfort somehow. It's not my type of music but I enjoyed one song, "And I Love Her"

The Beatles before they got good.

i did not enjoy

A destacar: Track 1 - A Hard Day’s Night Track 4 - I’m Happy Just to Dance With You Track 8 - Any Time at All Track 10 - Things We Said Today

I'm sorry Ringo but you are not even trying. 2/5

As usual with these Beatles albums, 2or3 good songs that have stood the test of time, the rest, forgettable.

The more I listen to the Beatles the more I realise they’re just not very good

The Beatles are still in their bubble gum, pop-rock phase with this album release and had not hit the psychedelics hard yet. Not the best Beatles album by far but it is the first one featuring all tracks written by the group. That counts for something and considering this is very early in their career, not half bad. Definitely better with the movie, on its own the record is falls short of delivering like the bands later work. 2.32 stars for the fab 5 putting in a not so hard day's night on this one.

Tell Me Whyyyyyyy We Need Seven Beatles Albumsssssssss (sorry)

Really dont see that this AND "with the Beatles " needed to be on the list. 7 albums. Good lord.

The Beatles will always be a classic group, but this isn’t my favorite album unfortunately.

some of their least interesting music to date. i think they were just asked to make a bunch default ass beatles song for some movie and that's exactly what they did. these feel so uninspired, not a fan at all

I DONT LIKE THE BEATLES THEY HAVE 4 GOOD SONGS IN TOTAL AND TAHTS BEAING GENEROUS WTF

All the songs sound the same sorry

The Beatles hey, it's been a while, was starting to think that we had heard the last of them on the list..... But alas, here they are again. This was more maudlin then most of their offerings we've had. Scousers are great at being maudlin. Most of it does nothing for me. Hard days night and can't buy me love are pretty iconic, but it's so dated....

So good!

I respect the classic value of this album but this is too pop for my taste. Easy listening with familiar songs but still not hitting me.

Nothing crazy imo

Echt geen fan van beatles

I knew it was coming. While I respect their place and influence on the music world, I’m not a fan.

Ehhhh… not a big fan of the early Beatles

Some songs were good just not my taste of music

disco de la cancion "it's been aaa haaaaard daaaay's night" tiririririiii-like a doog. tipico beatles, sin mas, 2 o 3 de 5

82. ok

A hard days night, tell me why, and can’t buy me love are amazing, and the rest of the album sucks. Can’t remember thing from any of the other songs it might be at three, but I’m rounding down to two because the Beatles are overrepresented in these kinds of things.

I know it's sacrilege but I didn't grow up listening to the Beatles and I didn't like this

Just really don't care for the Beatles

Kinda everything I dislike about the Beatles with a little bit of what I like about them

After six tracks or so, I began to lose interest. The title track and Can’t Buy Me Love aside, it all sort of blended into one. I wanted the songs lesser known to me to pique my interest more than they did, but I was left underwhelmed.

Es gab wirklich zu viel 'I love you' in diesen Songs.

It's a Beatles album.

fav song - and I love her

I'm not a fan of the Beatles. I appreciate what they have done for music but can't really get into them.

I did not enjoy:(

this album is fine. i feel like i would like it more if i listened to it 20 more times but i don’t think ill ever do that lol. some good songs here and there but i don’t really care for them. they have better songs in other albums. their early stuff is okay. 5/10

My least favorite of all their Albums

It's the Beatles so it's a solid album. Not crazy about it though.

A Hard Day's Night is certainly a fitting end for my Beatles journey on this list (minus that one George Harrison album i have yet to do) not because it's a great album but because it is more or less exemplary of The Beatles' early career. It's really boring, samey, repetitive and pretty much does nothing unique or special or that hasn't already been done. It also might be the worst of the Beatles albums i have listened to thus far because even the other Beatles albums i gave a 2 at least had one standout track, this one doesn't really have any. This album was not unbearable which is why i can't justify giving this 1 star but it just reinforces the fact (to me, at least) that the Beatles were a band that never really hit their stride until 1966. Best Song: You Can't Do That Worst Song: If I Fell Side Note: Since this is my last Beatles album (by the whole band of course) here is the rankings of them: 1. The Beatles (The White Album) 2. Revolver 3. Abbey Road 4. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 5. Rubber Soul 6. With The Beatles 7. A Hard Day's Night

this album put me to sleep

Ugh. Look, I'm a Beach Boys guy.

The singles are decent. Mostly filler. Later albums are much better.

Fine overall, and relatively unique for 60s standards (musically at least, not so miluch thematically: "love love love love love"). 3/5 On second listen, I really can't get past how so many songs are about love and just how repetitive they are. My 4 year old were listening with me and even noticed: "this song is about love too??". Sorry Beatles, but give me yeat/charli xcx any day. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

Bubble gum pop rock, not really my thing. I enjoyed hard days night and can't buy me love, but the rest feels like a bit of a wash of the same twangy, earnest sound that doesn't really do it for me. 3/10

This was fine. Very easy listen and only 30 minutes long. However at my core I am not excited by the Beatles. Title track slaps and some other Beatles songs do too but the rest of it I find samey. I will always respect the instrumentation, the musicality and the huge influence which the Beatles had on music, specifically pop music - but I will never go back for the listen.

the repetitive jolly nature of the first few songs had me quite hesitant. enjoyed hearing 'I'm Happy Just To Dance With You' and 'And I Love Her'. then we fell back into that merry-go-round folk feel....

I went into this one thinking I'd enjoy it a lot more than I actually did, it wasn't the worst, had a few songs I'd probably put on a 'Favorite Beatles' mixtape(A Hard Day's Night, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, Can't Buy Me Love, maybe Any Time At All) but 4/13 songs that I like and wouldn't skip doesn't really elevate the album past 2 stars for me.

I liked this more than I thought. I still think the Beatles are overdone, and I can't really blame them for that - it's just the way of things. There songs on this album were catchier and better than other Beatles albums I've tried.

There is better Beatles

And a half. Some decent

One good song. I’m sure this one was blazing all sorts of trails and such, but this era of music just feels *so* antiquated at this point.

This album to me sounds like the Beatles trying to become “The Beatles”. Seems they were just copying pop music (although very well) of the time and the very simple two minute love songs really are not my jam.

3/10 great album but there's much more on this list that I enjoy more.

This was kinda boring and repetitive with this weird vibe on romantic relationships.

I find the Beatles boring and outdated.

Overrated imo. It sure is a milestone and a perfect representation of pop music back in the 60s, but only some songs are actuslly good (personally I'm Happy Just to Dance with You is a favorite of mine). Other classics are the title track, I Should've Known Better, If I Fall and Tell Me Why

For years I thought I didn't like the Beatles and then I listened to Revolver, Abbey Road, The White Album, and I thought I was wrong. Turns out I has just been listening to early Beatles. Saccharine love pop songs. Well executed, and I can see why they got popular, but definitely not my thing.

Never really liked The Beatles, kinda a love hate relationship. No denying Peppers is a phenomenal album but this is just whinny, belly aching pop music. It flowed right I guess. Just not for me 2/5 stars

Basta Beatles

banalno, dosadno, bezveze

Ok pop songs, but not much more than that.

It's the Beatles doing thier least impressive stuff. Go listen to something more fun, don't be obsessed with 60s boy bands

I don't like the Beatles :(

fine and fun.

This is how it treats me after stopping for a while, Beatles forced upon me. They LOVE to sing about love, it's literally every song apart from the title track (which I do quite like). Tonally just 1 note, not a deep album. I'm pretty neutral on them, still am after this. You can tell Lennon and McCarthy had limited writing experience before this, it really feels like tie-in movie music.

Not my favorite. 2.5/5

Aggressively 60's, feels like I'm standing at the punch bowl at a prom worried about my troubadour staying up all night... Got real repetitive by the end, but each track is only like 2 minutes, so that was an odd experience. You can pick up on the greatness to come, but this one wasn't a huge winner to me.

I prefer their later stuff

Over the years I've tried several times to get into The Beatles without much luck. This album did not change anything for me. I guess I just don't like The Beatles that much. The album is however nice and short and there are a few decent and/or memorable songs and a few that I was already familiar with. Added to Library: A Hard Day's Night Tell Me Why Can't Buy Me Love Any Time At All I'll Be Back

Boring !

I’m sure this was very influential but in 2025 this is pretty mid.. Meh

1964 I've said it before: I get it, they're important and influential. It seems an obvious thing to state, but it sounds really dated. As an album, I've heard the important stuff before, and the tracks that weren't singles?Whatever. Heard before ✅️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ For Mums ★★☆☆☆ (4/10)

Nights be hard

It's an old album, only important as an artifact. The music doesn't hold up today. Sorry Beatles lovers

The songs are all bland and forgettable and, unfortunately, what i think of every time I think of Beatles music. Even though I KNOW they get better later on. The fact that the fans like this is keeping the band from ever beating the "grossly overrated"allegations

It’s the Beatles being very early Beatles. Hella simp. The Things We Said Today might be the highlight of the album. Never was familiar with it!

Sound of the 60s. A bit samey. Not the best from the Beatles.

Outside of the "big 2", all a bit dreary

Good but the boy band version of the Fab Four.

This album is 60 years old and it shows. It’s old fashioned, dated and passé. The vocals are kinda annoying and the melodies are all pretty similar. Other more forgettable albums on this list got a 3 because they were merely fine, but “A Hard Day’s Night” actively bothered me. It’s not awful, but it deserves no more than 2/5.

I dont like old Beatles music that much, really feels bland and without soul, like normal standard rock music from the time. I did like a couple tracks but not much more

This is the kind of album I think of when I say I don't really like the Beatles. "And I Love Her" is the only song on here I somewhat enjoyed.

I may actually like the more rock'n'roll-y Beatles more than their later material. Being confined by the conventions of their early style hinders a lot of the more annoying things I dislike about the Beatles. However, it's still the Beatles and they can't help but push me away with both hands. Some decent tracks, but mostly boring ones. Better than Abbey Road at least.

Good just not for me

Well crafted pop songs individually but found it a bit of a boring album. This era of the Beatles never really did it for me. I understand it's to do with when it was produced but love song after love song gets a bit trying.

Hot take: The Beatles, as a group, are massively overrated.

Not a fan of the Beatles

I want to like Beatles albums a lot more than I do. Singles only.

Not their best...

I know many Beatles fans might say it's sacrilege but upon this recent re-listen I unfortunately could not give this a very high score. "If I Fell," "And I Love Her" and I'd say "Hard Day's Night" are all of course iconic, but not enough to save the album for me. I understand this was still a very early stage for the Beatles but there are other albums and artists from around this decade/genre that I wanna listen to way more than this. Variety is not something you look for in the early Beatles albums but unfortunately I like it too much to give this higher than a 2.

⭐️⭐️ 1001 ALBUMS- # 61 The Shitty Beatles, are they any good? They Suck! Then it’s not just a clever name 🤣 Oh the Fab Four…I was hoping to avoid receiving any of their releases on this list for a while longer, however after merely 60 albums here we are. Not a controversial take to call these guys vehemently overrated, more so than any other band in the history of music. Yes they crafted catchy pop tunes and were great songwriters, however also commercially manufactured by record company marketing machines that molded an image which turned them into mega-stars overnight. For all the acclaim they receive for being in a league of their own during this era, I challenge you to listen to a much more interesting group that pioneered garage rock punk during this same time, at least a decade before any pretentious rock writer coined the term- The Monks, Black Monk Time, was the true standout record of the 60’s, miles ahead of its time. However let’s pay credit where it’s due- A Hard Day’s Night stands as a landmark in The Beatles’ early career, marking the first time the band released an album consisting entirely of original compositions. It captures the infectious energy of Beatlemania while simultaneously showcasing the group’s growing sophistication as songwriters and musicians. 🎧 Classic Track: A Hard Day’s Night 🎧 Deep Cut Gem: Things We Said Today 🎧 Personal Favorite: And I Love Her Lyrically, the themes are largely centered on love and longing, but there is a noticeable evolution from the more simplistic boy-meets-girl formulas of their earlier albums. Tracks like “If I Fell” and “I’ll Be Back” offer emotional nuance and vulnerability, reflecting the maturing perspective of Lennon and McCartney as lyricists. The album also serves as a part soundtrack to the film of the same name, which is something I also take exception to. The well crafted songs aside, artistically this would’ve garnered far more respect from me if the music excluded tracks from the film. 🖼️ Album Artwork: Here’s a story…of a Beatle Brady… Much of these early Beatles releases are structurally simple and lyrically basic, especially by today’s standards. Must everything these guys put out be fawned over??

So glad this album Is only 33 minutes. They made some good music later on when they were tripping, but this album does nothing for me.

*Did not like this at all. *Only 30 minutes - 13 songs, ~2 minutes each. *Bubble gum poppy and boring. *Fave Tracks - Can't Buy Me Love and Hard Day's Night RATING - 4/10

Most Beatles are mediocre and have not aged well

A few recognizable hits, but that’s about all that’s good about these early Beatles releases.

Sounded like a barbershop quartet or something. Music barely audible, mostly just vocals.

Hey, at least it's only 30 minutes long.

A generous 2,

I adore the Beatles, but this album does nothing for me.

Feel bad saying this, but skippable! Easy listening, and understand why it was influential, but no standouts for me.

This is what I mean when I tell people The Beatles are overrated. This is not good.

Not for me

Like the Beatles this album gets better the longer it goes on, and there are flashes of what The Beatles would become, its just not enough to be an enjoyable listen.

As someone who has never listened to much of the Beatles, and this being my first full-record listen, I'm feeling like it's incredibly one-note. This is perhaps the band I'm coming into this project with the highest expectations for and while the bangers are obviously undeniable, I can't help but feel like I was just waiting to get through a few of these tracks. I don't know what it means for my feelings about the record but, I guessed and later confirmed that this had to be an earlier album in their discography. It was fine - I think there's almost certainly more interesting works from The Beatles than this record.

So much better after they took drugs

This is my second Beatles album in 29 days. I know that there are more to come and I welcome them. I have heard the singles on this album many times. This album sounds great (I listened to the 2009 remastered version) and I appreciate that at least. There is nothing on here that I need to hear again. 1.75/5

Blah. Not a good album. Still on the fence about this band...

Hate this band but found some bangers

I can respect their impact on music but the Beatles bore me to death.

Well, that’s the sound of the Beatles. Next!…..

I'm not a fan of the Beatles. This album is to me, one of the lower ones. I can dig their later work, this is a dud for me.

John is on form here that’s about as good as it gets

With the amount of Beatles worship I’ve had to listen to my entire life I expect every one of their albums on this list to blow my tits off. And yet…

There are a lot of really good Beatles albums. This isn't one of them. A couple good songs, but otherwise, just mediocre love songs. Usually, their music will save a song even when the lyrics are middling. Sadly, that isn't the case for most of these tracks. Give me Rubber Soul or Revolver!

I can just never get into the Beatles

I've never seen the movie, so maybe I'm missing something, but this was a hard one to get through. Of course there are the mega hits, "A Hard Day's Night" and "Can't Buy Me Love," and I know several other songs from "Across the Universe" (the movie) — and I'll be honest, I like the soundtrack versions better. This album just sounds kind of rough. Their voices/harmonies aren't as tight as they should be, a lot of the songs are the sappy, generic love songs they were known for in the early days, and a lot of the music sounds similar to the point that the songs become almost interchangeable. Not a fan. 2/5

i get why this is on here but like everyone else who has a less than 5 score for this says, not the beatles best. womp womp. if you’re in this not for music history but purely musical enjoyment (which is not to say music history adds to music enjoyment, duh) this album is juuuuuust fine. also why was Paul the cute Beatle its obviously George.

Listened to the full album but it’s just not my type of music

it's an early Beatles album and you know exactly what you're going to get and it should be rated so..... it's not that good, the later stuff IS better

I only made it half in and it started to grate. Not saying it's bad, definitely a recognizable sound that has its style, but nothing I'd put on by choice.

Landfill Beatles

Compared to their later work, the songwriting here is quite basic, and unfortunately, there are no songs written by Harrison. However, the album features some memorable hits, including the title track and my personal favorite, Can’t Buy Me Love.

Fuck, this was dull.

A classic, but just not my style.

Every song is about being in love with a young girl. Kinda boring (and weird). Early Beatles is bland.

Not all Beatles albums are created equal, some are quite forgettable.

My parents own this record, so I’m fairly familiar with it. That said it’s not my favorite. I skipped around a bit, but nothing stood out or caught my attention. Regarding our last album: I must have left the room when Gang Bang came on… WTF? that song made me uncomfortable.

Ok fine, I will listen to yet another Beatles album, but I don't have to like it. Yeah, I listened to it. It was OK. I will never in my life make a deliberate choice to listen to a Beatles album on my own -- none of them excite me in any way.

Not my favorite kind of Beatles. Good singles but rest is meh

Early album. Solid, but nothing special nowadays

Just not for me, but I get how others would love it.

Pre-Rubber Soul Beatles records are pretty meh to me

Meh, boring Beatles. Sorry.

I tried really hard to appreciate the album through the lens of 1964. Sure, 60 years later all the songs sound trite and insubstantial but is that just because their influence is so fundamental to modern popular music? The answer I have arrived at, for myself anyway, is 1) no and 2) even if that’s the case, the songs really do sound trite and insubstantial. This was apparently the first Beatles album in which the songs were entirely written by members of the group and was a very rare thing at the time. I appreciate that. But the lyrics especially are just so elementary and boring, and the instrumentals aren’t much better. The standout is “And I Love Her”, which has always been one of my favorite Beatles songs. It’s beautiful and sounds like it doesn’t belong on this album at all. In fact, the context of this album made me like it slightly less. But it’s still a great song. One star ⭐️ for writing their own songs, even if they all kinda suck, and one star ⭐️ for the single song that doesn’t suck.

Very poppy and outside of the well known tracks pretty forgetful

This is a protest 2 star. We don’t need this many rock albums from the 60’s! This is simply insane! I don’t care if it’s the Beatles or a one-hit-wonder! It must be stopped, even this record is not that essential!

This is the sugary Beatles. Yes, even what they did in their early days became very significant very quickly (coming from playing rock 'n' roll covers), but for me, the Beatles started to become interesting around the time of Rubber Soul/Revolver.

Meh. 2/5

It's not my type of music, so i dont like it

I could have it playing in the background, but not something I would actively listen to

I still don't get it.

Boring, but not completely unlistenable. Not much to say about it.

Not their best

So I knew: A hard day's night I should have known better And I love her Can't buy me love Songs I didn't know: I'm happy just to dance with you If I feel Tell me why Any time at all I'll cry instead Things we said today When I get home You can't do that I'll be back This reflects side 1 being a soundtrack. They were the bangers of the album. It feels like an alien world where songs are less than a minute. The lyrics to You can't do that haven't aged well. Beatles don't really do it for me.

Early beatles does not do it for me. I guess it's alright music, but "hard day's night" is the only song I actually enjoyed. The rest they're just kind of generic boy band songs about holding hands. Can't believe this band went on to make rubber soul a little over a year after this

That sure is a lot of love songs.

Any individual song was decent but as an album it felt monotonous and bland. It seemed like they found a formula to make a love themed pop song and were just pumping them out, riding the wave of their popularity rather than pushing any creative boundaries. Favorite songs were 5. And I Love her - I like the acoustic melodies backed by the 12 string guitar. 7. Can't Buy Me Love - catchy, upbeat and fun. 4/10

Never been a fan of the Beatles so was not that excited for todays choice. But that's the fun of of this generator, not only finding artists I have never heard of, but listening to artists that I have heard of, but have not really listened too. You cannot deny at all that the Beatles are very talented, but I just find it all so boring.

Maybe I'm being a hater, but I did not enjoy this.

As it happens, I’ve listened to every Beatles album in the past 2 or 3 months. This is my least favorite. I like the title track and I really like “can’t buy me love.” Other than that, some songs are ok and some are bad. Oh god, are the Beatles about to be a “controversial artist” for me? It’s like the opposite of Neil Young (a couple bangers, a lot of dreck) with this album being the one “miss” in the Beatles catalog.

If this experience is teaching me anything, it is that the Beatles didn't make a good album until 1965.

As a guy who really messes with the Beatles, I'd be lying if I said any album before 'Rubber Soul' resonated with me at all. Funnily enough, this album sounds like what people who don't know what the Beatles sound like would think the Beatles sound like exclusively. I find the writing here bland...inoffensive, but aggressively poppy and lowest-common-denominator appealing. While the fun bubble-gum poppy songs here certainly stand out, like 'A Hard Day's Night', 'Any Time At All', and 'I'm Happy Just to Dance with You' - I tend to want to skip through most of the songs on the albums. Some of the guitar playing borders on interesting, like the subtle strumming of 'Things We Said Today', but these moments are few and far between. The Beatles are actually really good, genre-bending, and genuine pop-music visionaries...just not yet. But then again, if it weren't for these earlier easily accessible songs, the Beatles would've never broken out in the volcanic way they did - so there's that.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I just don’t get the Beatle love. I think you had to be there, although I know it has appeal to some young people. It just sounds dated and nothing I’d just throw on.

Nouvel album des Beatles généré (le troisième). Morceaux connus : A Hard Day's Night Can't Buy Me Love Mais pas convaincu par les autres. =>2/5

not bad, but the beatles :(

i legit dont have any thoughts just britpop i guess its just bland im sorry my favorite song: a hard days night

Alright, so I guess it's time for another early Beatles project. I maintain that aside from "Yesterday," the Beatles weren't doing a whole lot pre-Rubber Soul. Yes, they were making a name for themselves and driving girls wild with songs about, let me make sure I'm getting this right, "love is more than just holding hands." We get it, you guys got laid before this album. Still, the music is very rote, bubblegum pop stuff, and if I wanted that, I'd want it from, frankly, better singers. Like the Everly Brothers or the Supremes or something. Sidenote: are the Supremes even on this list?? I listened to "Where Did Our Love Go" recently, has to be one of the greatest pop songs ever concocted, better than every track on here for what it's worth. I liked two songs, the rest on here were boring and bland. I get that it's important to their evolution and "story" or whatever, but I don't have to like it. Favorite tracks: Hard Day's Night, Any Time at All. Album art: A collage of the lads' faces. Very much late '50s, early '60s pop style. Keep it moving. 2.5/5

this sucks

im just not into it

They have not arrived yet. But they are coming. They are so young. And they sound and sing it. The songs float, unweighted. Lots of hand-holding, but it does not anchor them.

Didn’t realize it was such bubblegum pop. I have a lot of love for the Beatles but it’s kind of funny thinking about the older Beatles and the 16 year old pre Beatles fighting in Liverpool and listening to this album list of “I love you” songs. I’m out on this one

Hard days shite more like

Wasn’t a big fan of the Beatles back in the day

An alright album from the Fab 4. Nothing to really wright home about unfortunately.

Not a fan

Don't like The Beatles at all

I’m more of a fan of the later Beatles stuff, but this is still a good listen.

Usual Liverdull fayre.

This was my first Beetles album on the playlist and I have to say I’m disappointed. I’ve not listened to a lot of their stuff so I’m hoping this album is the exception not the rule, but this was so underwhelming. For a band that gets so much hype and credit for shaping the musical world, this album came off as cabaret at best. There were some interesting songs and some cool musical ideas here but nothing that lives up to the reputation of this band.

First Beatles album I listened to actually I acknowledge The Beatles are a good band despite my personal mild disliking of them 🤟🤟

This is mediocrity as an album. People rating this highly don't season their food.

This might be my least favorite Beatles album so far. This is pretty uninteresting musically, and I don't care for the chorus vocals with the whole group involved. Fav tracks: N/A

A standard rock pop album but nothing special. Favourite song: "And I love her"

We get it you love her

As I've said about every other Beatles album, overplayed. Not gonna listen to this one more time. 2 stars because you know it's epic.

This is fine. I've always preferred the Stones to the Beatles, but I don't dislike it. I'm sad I am not the Eggman though. Or the Walrus.

Early-ish Beatles, some pretty good, others so so but culturally obviously very important in it's time.

i dont get it

One of the “worst” Beatles albums still not terrible tho a couple decent tracks overall a high 4/10

Nobody would care about the Beatles if this was their only album

of all the Beatles i don't like, i don't like this Beatles the most

It is only the familiarity of these songs which would cause me to listen to them. I have, and will, never listen to these songs because I like them.

Well I’m glad they kept practicing.

Not their best. some of it was annoying and has cheap rhymes.

Horny little losers

I kept catching myself frowning while listening to this album. This did not land well on my ears. Much of it sounded like wailing to me. I can understand why many people liked them in the day though. I disliked the songs but I can tell they are catchy.

Tandon Scale Rating: 2 Standouts: A Hard Day’s Night, Can’t Buy Me Love, I’ll Be Back Foot Notes: 1 they have some early iconic ones on here but this album has mostly duds for me Would I Listen Again: sorry but early Beatles are hit or miss for me Album Cover Rating: (1-5) 2.5 Album Name Rating: (1-5) 3

I liked two songs on the album. All of the lyrics and music were the same. Boring.

It's ok. Not their best stuff.

Tylsää vanhaa rockia aina vain.. Näitä on ihan liikaa tarjolla.

Boring-ass album, have heard better stuff from these guys

It’s the Beatles. Sadly overhyped. I got pretty bored with this one

Another case where the album doesn’t really do it for me. It sounds like 60s Schlagermusik. Sure, I know ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love. Don’t know the rest of the songs and don’t care much about them either. The one Beatles song that I’ve come to really love this past year is ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. None of these songs on this album come anywhere close for me. I’ll add to it that I even prefer that song covered by others, like Girl In A Coma, more than by the Beatles. It’s just hype pop music of its time and that kind of boy band sound is way past its time for me.

Boring really 😭 and honestly overrated

All seems to roll into one.

the beatles fall into a category of foundational, influential inspirational media where i consumed everything it inspired before i consumed the media. boring, but i don't hate it.

Meh. I don't see why it's necessary to include *every* Beatles release in this list. Some of these olders ones are still very rough and not indicative of what the band would eventually become.

Better than I expected, you have to go into this album thinking about where music was at the time, which was mostly bubble gum pop and love songs. Can’t believe this album came out in 1964 then Revolver came out 2 years later. Quite a change.

Pretty early rock. Flashes of the sound to come, but very 50s esque sound. If this is their first album I wouldn't be surprised. Actually kind of surprised this is a must listen album

You know, before I heard this album, I thought love was a wonderful thing - but this album is seriously making me reconsider that premonition. It's like the 13 songs on here are competing for which one can annoy me the most. With the exception of "And I Love Her", which was actually kinda decent. 2 broken hearts out of 5 💔💔

Pretty boring. There are far better Beatles albums.

They're getting there but it's not for me just yet

This was surprisingly dull. Yes, there were a few big hits from the film, etc. but the rest of the album was just packed with the same, short, rather obnoxious songs that sounded incredibly dated and shallow. I can appreciate the Beatles, but their later work was far superior to this.

the night that i listened to it was indeed hard as most songs on here sound kind of the same. not terrible, just boring

Seeing this sitting at nearly a 4/5 average while an album like Hounds of Love barely pushes 3.5 is pretty depressing. Sometimes I just want to grab a Beatles fan by the shoulders, shake them and ask "Why do you all like this album so much?!", and you aren't allowed to talk about it's "influence" or anything like that. Just what are you hearing in this music that I'm missing, it's just the most plain uninteresting pop music you'll hear from the 60s. I'll never understand.

A quickie from the Beatles, not bad not great

Perfectly fine. Not really a style I'd listen to much on repeat, but I enjoyed this while it was on

05.06.2023

I've spent a lot of time saying that The Beatles that I don't like is the psychedelic stuff because I thought that was true. I also don't like this. I just don't like their voices. Or the music really. They have some songs I like, but none of them were on this album.

Look. It's ok. Enough beetles.

This album sounds a little too friendly. I subscribe to the idea that every song on this album would be perfectly suited for a breakfast cereal or coffee commercial. This album isn't for me. I like later Beatles albums better.

boring!!

These songs are largely so familiar that it's hard to have any objective opinion about them. I guess this was the start of the band trying to break out of their boy band mould. Some okay songs here, but nothing I would choose to sit down and listen to out of choice, unlike some of their later work, and certainly not their best set. Quite like the cover though.

This album kind of annoyed me. Plain music about insecure, controlling lads

I listened to this one many times as a youngster and this was the first time I realized that I dont really like it 2/5

Catchy tunes, cringy lyrics

A hard one to rate. It doesn't have the genius songwriting and production of their later albums, so the handful of great songs on it aren't enough to make me want to go back and listen to it today.

I get no joy out of being proverbially “that guy”, but. I just don’t like the Beatles much, especially their early stuff. 2.5/5

Album 99 and first from the Beatles. I know this is the first of many. I am sorry to say that I’ve never really liked the Beatles. We’ll see if that changes as I go through the rest of this project. After Hard Day’s Night, my opinion hasn’t changed. I did like I’m Happy Just to Dance With You. Maybe because it’s Harrison singing lead. I’ll have to pay attention to that. Lennon and McCartney’s voices have always annoyed me. Maybe my lack of appreciation for the Beatles is simply that. 1 = bad 2 = average 3 = good 4 = great 5 = outstanding

Honestly, a pretty middling album. This is probably only included because it's a Beatles album, and while I think the Beatles were really important, it doesn't make their earlier work any more enjoyable.

Not really my cup of team. Was OK, few known hits but not much else apart from that

A couple of OK tracks, the rest being average to bad pop music. Why are they so highly rated? I don't get it. I suppose that if you write and perform enough music some of it is almost bound to be good (There are exceptions to this - looking at Frank Zappa). Once again, this falls way below expectations given their reputation

ok, after a long hiatus I'm back on it. Saw this Beatles album and had a hard time starting back up. It's not that I hate 60s bubble gum pop but it's just really hard to get excited about. There are some good songs here but still.

Not a fan of the earlier Beatles 2/5

This is boy band Beatles. Terrible

Personal taste, but I just don't really enjoy anything pre-Help! 2.5/5

Not my favorite or go-to Beatles album. There are some decent songs, but not enough to make it worthwhile. Thankfully not a single song goes past the 3-minute mark.

Technically gifted saccharine pop that was ultimately rather unsatisfying. Interesting only in the sense of showing how far they traveled.

My relationship with The Beatles is weird. I nothing them. I don't mind a lot of songs, and feel nothing about most others. Just very middling stuff that doesn't provoke much emotion from me.

Early Beatles do nothing for me. Songs are boring and repetitive. If it wasn't for 1966 and on – essentially, Revolver – I don't think I would like the Beatles at all.
