Sure, the Lads from Liverpool, and all that, but I'm not all gaga for this like some screeching bird in her teens swooning about from heretofore undiscovered hormones.

To me this was the quintessential Beatles sound, but definitely inoffensive. Strong all around good album, just nothing that stands out and if it was a different band I’m not sure it would be on the list

This is the 7th Beatles album. It should be the last one because apparently their entire discography is on this list. Several well known songs, but the prior comments about the Beatles remain. It really isn't that good of music by itself. The album is short which is good. The songs are still poppy and not too eccentric. I will round up because it is better than a two.
The Beetles are undeniable. I grew up listening to these singles with my dad in the car. His favorite band was the Beach Boys, but he also appreciated the Beetles and spoke to the rivalry between the two bands. He remarked that their voices all sounded very much the same, and they all had the same haircuts. I think this is the album cover that he was referencing. So much of modern pop and rock have this band to thank. Endless hooks and catchy toons, its fun to listen. The well known singles are a lot stronger than the deep-cuts. Still pleasant, but more boring and meandering. I'm sure this stuff was killer in the 60s though. I noticed that all of these cuts are super tight. Nothing is over 3 min. This makes for excellent pacing. Even the more "boring" cuts are over before I can complain too much. High: Hard Day's Night Low: Tell me Why, Can't Buy Me love (the repetition is grating after listening so many times, and the same-y nature of most of these tracks). Strong 6, Light 7

There is no denying that the Beatles were the best among their contemporaries, even with plenty of fanfare to go around with the British Invasion and all. That is about it, though. The respect and acknowledgment of their success and how great they were is well-deserved, but their music is by and large over-hyped. Not over-rated, but over-hyped. Would this reviewer have preferred to miss out the Beatles? No, but the premise of this review is whether or not this album should precede death, and that answer is "no" but with an open mind there is nothing to regret here. Happy and cheerful dispositions in their earlier works such as this album are an experience to enjoy, a worthy trip into the music of the 60s where lots of change both societally and musically contributed heavily what we have today. However, that is about it, it is a good album with a shiny disposition.
It makes sense to include this on the list since this is the stuff for which the Beatles originally became famous, but it's not really what they are remembered for today—just some love songs with stripped-back guitar tunes.
This album is good, and it's hard not to directly compare it to Revolver, which is just a superior album in my opinion. A lot of good songs on this album, but doesn't feel like any stuck with me. Pairs well with making homemade pasta for your roommates Last Supper.
Lots of poppy Beatles songs. Definitely not my favorite album from them but I like it I would recommend Kevin does drugs then listens to this album
Tja, na inmiddels anderhalf jaar The Beatles op repeat vanaf Rubber Soul is dit toch wel even slikken. Absoluut goed natuurlijk maar toch minder indrukwekkend dan wat er daarna allemaal gebeurde.

I've never been a big early Beatles fan. I always feel a little guilty about it, made it halfway through this album and was just reminded that I much prefer their druggy stuff to their poppy stuff.
The hits hit, and most of the others miss... For me, anyway.

The title track was the best song by what felt like a large margin. Every song seems to be a love song. I'm guessing this is from the boy band era of the Beatles?
It was ok. The titular song is a certified banger, but the other songs sound sort of generic.

This is a fine Beatles album. It’s not too special, and it’s not too bad. It’s definitely nowhere near the top of their game, but it’s a good listen through. There’s not much else to say other than if you like the Beatles, listen through this one. If you don’t, you’re not missing out. Favorite track: Tell Me Why

A jangly guitar pop album, which is meant as a description rather than a criticism. However, outside “And I Love Her” and “I’ll Be Back” it’s pretty forgettable regardless of who made it.

Pre its creative peak, The Beatles were a great band but not half as great as they'd turn out to be. They had good pop music for the time, some of it quite good (but clearly not an album-ful). Lucky for us, their music got more complex with time.
I find most of this rather boring in comparison to other Beatles material to be honest. In terms of pop it's great but in terms of what the Beatles are capable of I'm underwhelmed.

Obviously The Beatles are very talented, however this album isn't quite the showcase for it. Even at 30 minutes, this felt like it dragged with every single track just being a rehash of romantic feelings and love and being sad about love and being happy about love and missing my love and wanting love and having love and losing love and oh my god I'm going to lose my lunch. Great performances though.
A solid transitionary album for the band as they leave teeny-bop behind and begin experimenting with slightly less radio-friendly songwriting. ‘Hard Day’s Night’ may be my fav Beatles track of all time, and though the rest of the LP does slide into homogeneity during its runtime it’s at least a pleasant one.
Second listen. Don’t have much to say about this. It’s good.

Hard to know what I thought of this. Not the strongest album, lots of sort of sexist threatening songs in this one... But I know that was telling of the time so I'll resist the urge to cancel Paul M. A few I'm glad I've heard though!

With 'run for your life little girl' and now 'you can't do that' I'm wondering if John Lennon was not such a nice guy, and perhaps had some issues... Otherwise there are some great songs, but also some filler on this. Like other reviewers, I prefer the later albums
This was a really tough album for me to review. I grew up with the Beatles, but my dad mostly listened to Rubber Soul, the White Album, and Sgt. Peppers. As I got older and developed my own taste in music, I still loved the Beatles but had added Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, and the goat, Abbey Road, to my rotation. I am a bit ashamed to admit that I am only a bit familiar with their early work. A Hard Day's Night is definitely from the boy band, pop era of the Beatles. Songwriting was overall still pretty basic but it's impossible to ignore how the good the harmonies are, and how catchy most of the melodies are. I was surprised how many songs I already knew despite only two of them being listed as singles. It just goes to show how ubiquitous the Beatles are if one can recognize most of their songs on an album that they've never sat down and listened to straight through before. All that said, how do I actually feel about this album? Well, it's not groundbreaking or anything, but it's fun and enjoyable. After awhile the songs do start to sound the same, and while I think the first half of the album is just incredible (up to "Can't Buy Me Love"), the latter half feels a bit like throwaway tunes. I'm sure I'll listen to many of these songs time and time again, but as an album, I probably won't really return to A Hard Day's Night even though I did enjoy it, which puts it in the 3 star category like so many of my "it's good, but not great" reviews. 3.5

I mean some great songs but also I just got really bored of love songs after awhile.
Obviously some great songs here because well it’s the Beatles, but it’s definitely not their best record - and I think it’s not a very good one in general.
The Beatles are a GOAT band. That's not really negotiable. BUT that doesn't mean I personally have to love their music. I've always found the Beatles a bit too poppy and upbeat for my tastes. I know not every album is like that, but this one is. just 3 stars from me
I did not expect to like it, althought I hardly see myself going back to it unless i really feel like it. It has the old school lover boy feel to it but it's a bit corny sometimes. I do like some songs and the energy it transmits really takes you back to the time where that music was revolutionary and called the "devil's music" lol. the production is a bit annoying to listen to because you have the tracks split into both sides of the stereo, classic beatles fuckery

Beatles - the early hits
My first Beatles (or Beatle related) album! Never heard this as I'm not that keen on the early stuff. Really competent 60s pop. Couple of great hits. Some filler tracks. Not for me.
Best Song: A Hard Day's Night. Up-tempo, nice percussion in the background. Paul's voice is used well here (within its limits). Worst Song: I Should Have Known Better. Most bands not called "The Beatles" would be skewered for that failed high note. Overall just a needlessly strained vocal performance. Overall: Obviously there are some well-written songs in here, but they make up at most half of what's on offer. And more fundamentally, even for the songs that I did quite like, I could think of covers that I like as much or more. So yeah, the Beatles had a knack for writing pop hits, but often those songs are better performed by others. Three Beatles albums in and I'm still unsold on their position as inarguable music gods.

Some interesting tracks aside from the well known singles but a you on the pop side for me. Good album but not my favourite Beatles album.
This hasn't aged as well as a lot of the other Beatles albums (or maybe I've just grown out of this sort of thing), it's a bit too saccharine. The opener / title track still hits reasonably hard, but any edge that had is very much filed down through the vast majority of the rest of the album. That said, it's a really solid pop album that keeps up the pace through a tight 30 minutes with a couple of really big hits, so it's a comfortable 3.

Just two or three weeks ago I raved about Abbey Road, noting that it was much heavier than I'd thought. Now this is the polar opposite of the Beatle-spectrum. So much poppier, so much less interesting, so much sappier. This album truly shows that The Beatles should always have been predominantly a rock and not a pop band. It has some really nice, fun rock songs such as I'm Happy Just To Dance With You and some of the sappiest stinkers such as If I Fell and And I Love Here. A lot of it comes down to the vocal performances which have bite on the rock songs but are extremely lackluster in the poppy love songs.
Good album. Very catchy tunes. Lyrical content gets a bit repetitive. Most songs seem to be written for young people.

A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Initial Impression: A Beatles' album I hadn't heard prior to starting this. Expecting it to be poppy. Hard Days Night - I really enjoy the percussion in the background I hadn't heard before. Classic. 9/10 I should have known better - pretty solid track. digging the harmonica 7/10 If I Feel - Meh. Just seems like an early power ballad. Not awful, not great. 4/10 I'm Happy Just To Dance With You - I don't know if the Beatles inspired the Hollies or vice versa, but it sounds like that era. Second favorite song on the album thus far. 8/10 And I Love Her - Eastern vibes - soothing. Tie for best song on album so far? (I'm a sucker for that off beat wood block ) that tasty guitar solo too. 9/10 Tell Me Why - Big Sound, love the piano. Honestly, this is an ideal Beatles pop song. 8/10 Can't Buy Me Love - Fuckin' Classic. If you don't get it I don't get you. 10/10 Any Time At All - Another of those Hollies sharedspired songs(?) Pretty poppy. Not quite a hit - clearly as time has told. Aside from the big vocals from McCartney it's pretty weak. 6/10 I'll Cry Instead - Another one I haven't heard. Kind of groovy in an almost US country way. Love the walking bass. Don't really love the song. 5/10 Things We Said Today - Eh. This reminds me of a lot of 60's music. It's not better or worse than most of it. 5/10 When I Get Home - This song feels like a Beatles building block. They take this sound and use it later and make it great, but it's still in it's infancy here. I'll bet it would be great if I hadn't heard the rest of their discography though 6/10 You Can't Do That - Copy my "Ticket to Ride" but don't make it too obvious. (I don't know which came first) 6.5/10 I'll Be Back - I like the salsa vibes. Good track to close the album out with, nice fusion of pop, the 60's sound, and then a bit of pizzazz. 6.5/10 Final thoughts: This is a great start, but things get much better from here. I'd rate this album a 6.5/10. It contributed to some classics, but far from my favorite Beatles album and far from my favorite album period. Can't buy me love is the highlight.

Gotta love a short album. I did not know this was a movie soundtrack, that was interesting to learn about, and to learn about the Beatles' inflection point from rock n roll and covers to more pop-based music here. Still not my favorite music, but I'll give it a begrudging 3.

On ne peut pas reprocher aux Beatles de faire de la mauvaise musique, c'est toujours à minima agréable. Mais cet album était comme beaucoup assez banal malgré tout. Malheureusement, je sais déjà qu'au moment ou je presserai sur la troisième étoile pour valider mon vote, le vote du public afichera lui la note de 4, synonyme pour les Beatles de présence d'un autre de leurs albums moyens au pavillon Baltard.

I think we can all agree the Beatles are one of the greatest bands of all time, right? Then we can agree this album doesn't stand up compared to their older stuff. It should probably be on here, but it's not their best by a long shot: the songs are all variations of "I love my baby" or "I miss my baby", with some descriptions of very chaste romance. Compared to their later stuff, this is child's play. Favorite tracks: "A Hard Day's Night", "Can't Buy Me Love"

goodness, "and i love her" is possibly my favorite beatles' song. it's so wonderful and tender yet simple. learning that per paul, george was responsible for the guitar riff in that song made my day. their hits on this album are undeniably brilliant. "a hard day's night" always gets me moving! the other songs are nice to listen to. i don't think there's really a bad song in the bunch. but it's definitely early beatles and i can't get as excited about it. perhaps i'm unfairly comparing to their later, more exciting music. despite that, it was a nice listen and i appreciated hearing some deep cuts.
I like this album...but I don't love this album, as a standalone or really as a piece of The Beatles' discography. It is fun and catchy, and an incredibly significant album in the course of Beatles history. That said, I would put most of the songs on this album in the "good" but not "great" bucket. The particular flavor of 60s pop on display on this album is always kind of hit or miss with me, and this era of Beatles just wasn't my favorite. I'm rating this a 3/5, but let the record show that I'd put it at like a 3.5/5, if I could.

Half a song in: "Man, this fun, Old Beatles are way better than new Beatles." Seven songs in: "Wow, all these songs are entirely forgettable, no wonder everybody loves New Beatles."
Meh, I continue to think the Beatles are extremely overrated. This wasn't bad but it also wasn't amazing or fantastic, pretty middle of the road and just okay 🤷🏼♂️

This is nowhere near the Beatles best. Many of the songs sound the same, very simple melodies. I totally understand the significance of the Beatles in music over the last several decades, so I appreciate this album for that reason. “Can’t Buy Me Love” is about the only standout song on this record. Nice to listen to, but nothing of major note.

Early Beatles just isn't that exciting when compared with the later stuff but its all important in the overall story I guess. I've never seen the film, maybe that would give the songs more context. Still well done to the lads for starting to write some original songs for a change.
An album built on a foundation of traditional rock'n'roll, but with added minor chords, pop hooks and rougher edges. Mark these boys as 'ones to watch'.

A really consistent album and easy to see why it's a classic but I think it hasn't aged perfectly. Not much staying power in an album full of by the numbers love songs.

Not the era of The Beatles that I live, or ever really listen to, to be perfectly honest but you cannot deny that this a a great pop record. There are about four songs on this album alone that most bands of that era would have killed to write

Ne znam što vi mislite o ovom albumu, ali album je sasvim solidan za mene. Hitovi su hitovi, čisti pogodak, što je zapravo već dovoljno za rejting koji bi dao. Nije ni blizu njihovim ostalim koje smatram najboljima, ali daleko je ovaj album od lošeg albuma. Preporuka svakako za svakog tko želi proći katalog Bitlsa. Odavde se može vidjeti kakvu evoluciju na puno bolje su imali.

(même si ça reste un peu guimauve) Fav : i'm happy just to dance with you + and i love her + can't buy me love C'est vraiment l'album qui résume les Beatles : très efficace, ça envoie, que des hits ou presque, mais c'est à double tranchant : ça pète un peu le crâne. Dès qu'une chanson (de 2-3 mn) se termine ça rebalance un hit.

Los Beatles eran una Boy Band, puede no gustarle a mucha gente, sí es cierto tocaban sus instrumentos, sí componían algunas canciones, sí siempre fueron talentosos... y no se hicieron famosos por ninguna de esas razones; los Beatles se hicieron un gigante porque tenían peinados lo suficientemente rebeldes pero aceptables para las escuinclas que comenzaban a generar hormonas; punto, no hay más. En realidad todo el inicio de la banda y esa época de canciones super pop de rocanrol en su mayoría covers si bien tiene su lugar siempre he pensado es sobrevalorada al extremo solo por ser "los Beatles." Este disco se siente muy como la cola final de esa etapa, aquí ya son por completo canciones suyas pero el sonido y letras siguen siendo el de hacer canciones pop para muchachitas, de hecho si comparamos este con anteriores hasta el sonido de rock que había se va un poco y musicalmente es todavía un pop más inofensivo que lo que hacían en algo como Meet the Beatles. Las letras igual siguen siendo solamente de "oh mi chica mi chica como la quiero uuuh si que romántico el amor de la fuente de sodas" en su mayoría (excepto por el poco punto de "John Lennon es un hdp" diciendo cómo va a madrearse a su novia por hablar con otro muchacho). El disco en general como mencionaba es agradable, tiene un par de canciones con puntos casi brillantes como el acorde antes de A Hard Day's Night; hay ya atisbos de que son más que la boy band, que aquí hay creatividad por explotar pero en realidad no siento que llegue a ese punto y sigue siendo un disco para masas bonito, fácil de escuchar y bien hecho para lo que es. Es un buen disco, y vendrán discos impresionantes de ellos; pero este todavía se siente como casi prefabricado en muchos aspectos.
Me costó mucho trabajo concentrarme en este disco. A Hard Day's night pone la marca muy alta y creo que el resto del disco no logra alcanzarla. Songs: A Hard Day's Night, Anytime At All
Album molto piacevole da ascoltare, nella sua semplicità. Le melodie sono originali e specialmente le prime canzoni sono molto orecchiabili. Traspare il carattere ancora giovanile della band.

I've always thought the Beatles are one of the most overrated bands of all time. It's not BAD (it's honestly pretty catchy) but it just simply isn't the high point of pop culture people claim. This album is full of cheesy 60s shit lyrics, doesn't even have the innuendo other artists SLIPPED IN to get past the smut police. It's a 3/5.

I know that there is going to be a decent number of Beatles on this list, but I wasn’t expecting to get one for number 4. It’s hard to escape hearing the Beatles if you actively listen to music, either through their songs or who they have gone on to influence, so most people go in with a lot of preconceived notions, including myself. I watched A Hard Day’s night movie one night with my dad and unfortunately, I was not a fan. I’m assuming that the Monkees TV show was a rip-off of the movie, but I feel they pulled the concept off better, possibly because of the artificial nature of the band. This has probably contributed to me to not like this period of the Beatles that much. There are one or two timeless songs on this album and if I was just rating on the dance hall beats the album would be rated higher, but I am not a fan of the lyrics at all. It could be because they are of their time or because I’m not really into love songs, but they did nothing for me. Favourite song: A Hard Day’s night Least favourite song: None

Hard to totally hate their youthful enthusiasm but it's too trite to enjoy
To my surprise, I didn’t really like this. The vocals weren’t all that polished, the sound and the lyrics were simple. And not in a simple-genius or simple-clear sort of way. More like a kids album? Sorry, I’m sure the next one that comes up from them will be better.
I stand by my opinion on Beatles. I think it's overrated and this exact album is worse than the others. I'm actually torn between 2 and 3. 2.7

I s'posed at some point I'd get another Beatles album, as if there wasn't enough already. I only really like the "white album", although I have given a 4 for "Rubber Soul". This is wishy-washy, jangly, lovey-dovey, 60s teen pop and should have remained in the 60s. A great example of why I don't really like The Beatles.
If this were any other artist this would get 2 stars. I get it's the Beatles and they are incredibly influential but it does sound dated. It's their music like this (pre-Rubber Soul) that makes me have to argue to my friends why the Beatles aren't overrated.

I have never reconciled The Beatles’ series of simple pop rock songs in the mid-60s with the scale of their success. The lyrics are Year 10 school poems (hmmm… maybe that’s why).

Not their best. Feels like the beatles before they really found their identity. probably groundbreaking for its time, but really nothing for me to come back to on here. Songwriting is solid, just hasn't aged incredibly well for a first listen.

As usual with these Beatles albums, 2or3 good songs that have stood the test of time, the rest, forgettable.
The more I listen to the Beatles the more I realise they’re just not very good
The Beatles are still in their bubble gum, pop-rock phase with this album release and had not hit the psychedelics hard yet. Not the best Beatles album by far but it is the first one featuring all tracks written by the group. That counts for something and considering this is very early in their career, not half bad. Definitely better with the movie, on its own the record is falls short of delivering like the bands later work. 2.32 stars for the fab 5 putting in a not so hard day's night on this one.

The Beatles hey, it's been a while, was starting to think that we had heard the last of them on the list..... But alas, here they are again. This was more maudlin then most of their offerings we've had. Scousers are great at being maudlin. Most of it does nothing for me. Hard days night and can't buy me love are pretty iconic, but it's so dated....

After six tracks or so, I began to lose interest. The title track and Can’t Buy Me Love aside, it all sort of blended into one. I wanted the songs lesser known to me to pique my interest more than they did, but I was left underwhelmed.

My least favorite of all their Albums
It's the Beatles so it's a solid album. Not crazy about it though.
A Hard Day's Night is certainly a fitting end for my Beatles journey on this list (minus that one George Harrison album i have yet to do) not because it's a great album but because it is more or less exemplary of The Beatles' early career. It's really boring, samey, repetitive and pretty much does nothing unique or special or that hasn't already been done. It also might be the worst of the Beatles albums i have listened to thus far because even the other Beatles albums i gave a 2 at least had one standout track, this one doesn't really have any. This album was not unbearable which is why i can't justify giving this 1 star but it just reinforces the fact (to me, at least) that the Beatles were a band that never really hit their stride until 1966. The singles are decent. Mostly filler. Later albums are much better.
Fine overall, and relatively unique for 60s standards (musically at least, not so miluch thematically: "love love love love love"). 3/5 On second listen, I really can't get past how so many songs are about love and just how repetitive they are. My 4 year old were listening with me and even noticed: "this song is about love too??". Sorry Beatles, but give me yeat/charli xcx any day. 2.4/5 -> 2/5
Bubble gum pop rock, not really my thing. I enjoyed hard days night and can't buy me love, but the rest feels like a bit of a wash of the same twangy, earnest sound that doesn't really do it for me. 3/10
This was fine. Very easy listen and only 30 minutes long. However at my core I am not excited by the Beatles. Title track slaps and some other Beatles songs do too but the rest of it I find samey. I will always respect the instrumentation, the musicality and the huge influence which the Beatles had on music, specifically pop music - but I will never go back for the listen.
the repetitive jolly nature of the first few songs had me quite hesitant. enjoyed hearing 'I'm Happy Just To Dance With You' and 'And I Love Her'. then we fell back into that merry-go-round folk feel....
I went into this one thinking I'd enjoy it a lot more than I actually did, it wasn't the worst, had a few songs I'd probably put on a 'Favorite Beatles' mixtape(A Hard Day's Night, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, Can't Buy Me Love, maybe Any Time At All) but 4/13 songs that I like and wouldn't skip doesn't really elevate the album past 2 stars for me.
I liked this more than I thought. I still think the Beatles are overdone, and I can't really blame them for that - it's just the way of things. There songs on this album were catchier and better than other Beatles albums I've tried.

This album to me sounds like the Beatles trying to become “The Beatles”. Seems they were just copying pop music (although very well) of the time and the very simple two minute love songs really are not my jam.

For years I thought I didn't like the Beatles and then I listened to Revolver, Abbey Road, The White Album, and I thought I was wrong. Turns out I has just been listening to early Beatles. Saccharine love pop songs. Well executed, and I can see why they got popular, but definitely not my thing.
Never really liked The Beatles, kinda a love hate relationship. No denying Peppers is a phenomenal album but this is just whinny, belly aching pop music. It flowed right I guess. Just not for me 2/5 stars

This is how it treats me after stopping for a while, Beatles forced upon me. They LOVE to sing about love, it's literally every song apart from the title track (which I do quite like). Tonally just 1 note, not a deep album. I'm pretty neutral on them, still am after this. You can tell Lennon and McCarthy had limited writing experience before this, it really feels like tie-in movie music.

Aggressively 60's, feels like I'm standing at the punch bowl at a prom worried about my troubadour staying up all night... Got real repetitive by the end, but each track is only like 2 minutes, so that was an odd experience. You can pick up on the greatness to come, but this one wasn't a huge winner to me.

Over the years I've tried several times to get into The Beatles without much luck. This album did not change anything for me. I guess I just don't like The Beatles that much. The album is however nice and short and there are a few decent and/or memorable songs and a few that I was already familiar with.
