Hadn’t heard this before (grunge tended to pass me by), but it grew on me. Splendid production too, as bass heavy as you would expect.
Very much of its time, and later times too seeing how much it's been sampled since. Quite muddy production values?
Not quite my generation, but still
Better with repeated listenings
Some great songs, for sure
New to me, but impressive
One of my favourite albums for over forty years.
Their swansong, and not too bad either.
He’s an artist, a pioneer
Not as good as I remember.
Better than I remember it
Springsteen’s Woody Guthrie album
Very musical, albeit pretentious
Still great after all these years
Are we halfway there yet?
Not as you might expect. Rather quirky, in fact
Still magnificent, albeit recorded in mud.
Good in parts, but overlong
Not really me thing, but not bad
Quite good, if a little Coldplay-y at times
Still not really my thing, but yeah, Waldo was indeed a schmuck
I did the Wall Street Shuffle, and it was ok.
Really quite good. Surprised.
Still not really my thing
Still very satisfying stuff from the Muswell Hillbillies
Meet the new boss etc etc
Not his best, but definitely not his worst
Still crazy after all these years
Not really punk, but definitely quite daft
I love a bit of Willie, me
Is Sheena still a punk rocker, I wonder
I talk to the wind, don’t you know
Not their best, but still …
One off for the language!
Rather lovely, in its way
Groove is indeed still in the heart
Didn’t really do much for me
Better than I was expecting
Pretty good still, despite Roger
Well, I tried to check out, but …
Not bad, but it does go on a bit
Not bad, but a bit repetitive
Plus one for Riders On The Storm
Not as dark as their reputation might suggest
The dog left the room when this was on. Everyone’s a critic.
As others have said, yee-haw
Back to first principles, and all the better for it
Moral: do not shoot anyone in Reno, or elsewhere
I know she’s highly regarded, but I’ve never really got PJ
Like Led Zep, but louder.
Not my favourite of Tom’s
Just about rates 3, pretty ordinary teally
New to me, and quite good
He’s a pinball wizard, donca know.
Better than Thriller, imho
One of the greatest recordings of all time.
Spaced out hippies making noises? No ta.
A bit like an American Divine Comedy
A bit too gloomy for my taste
Quite spacy, but not too shabby
Somewhat self indulgent, really
Really not my thing at all
One star off for the whole domestic-abuse-sexual-assault-murder thing
I had my hands in the air the whole time
Three tracks that would mean five stars all by themselves. One off for The Girl Is Mine.
Surprisingly competent. Was this before he went all odd?
It’s OK, but a little dull.
Not as punchy as I remembered it
A little bit misogynistic …
Like updated New Order, and great for it.
A bit disappointing, really
Didn’t really do much for me
The first Joni Mitchell album I ever heard, and forty-odd years later, still amazing
Rather pleasant, if a little goddy
I know it’s a classic, but it’s never really got to me like some of his other stuff
Is this an undiscovered Bowie album?
Rather long and self-indulgent
Pretty good. These chaps should go far.
Divorce album. Never pretty.
Pretty fly. I kept from going under, anyway.
Quite the period piece, but even so
Really not my thing at all
Quite good, but one off for the misogyny
Didn’t really do much for me
Unexpectedly accomplished
Exactly what it says on the tin
It’s ok, in an Icelandic epic sort of way.
Good in parts, but overlong
A couple of decent tracks
Yee haw. The CND songs at the end were a nice surprise.
Still pretty ok, especially the title track
Not surprised Pink Floyd thought they could get along without him …
Pretty amazing stuff, really
One extra for the title track
Two decent tracks, the rest a little infantile. But they are just boys.
Grows on you. Like a fungus.
Not too bad after all these years
Pretty good, even the bits that sound more like U2
It’s like The Kinks have mated with King Crimson
Ok, in an ordinary sort of way
Not quite my thing, but epic nevertheless
Its ok, if you’re high, I suppose
Didn’t really do much for me.
Not usually a fan, but this rocks
Cult classic. Unlistenable, in other words.
OK, but a bit monotonous after a while
Not really my sort of thing
Too long, too self-indulgent.
A little indulgent, maybe?
A bit patchy, but the supreme example
of Trevor Horn’s production style
Not really my thing, but not disastrous
A bit of a mess, frankly, but with some high points
Not my thing, but competent
Classic 80s white boy soul
Pretty neutral on this, frankly
Patchy, but Gabriel’s genius is still there
OK, but not really for me
Wasn’t expecting to like this much. I was wrong.
Two or three epic tracks, the rest a bit meh
I was only ever going to give this five stars
Who could have foreseen from this?
How did it feel? Still mighty fine.
Will still love it tomorrow
Its actually held up rather well
Quite the effect on its day, but a little ordinary now, perhaps.
Better that the polemics might suggest
Great songs, and quintessentially North London
Better than I was expecting.
Better than I was expecting
It’s not bad, but not as good as the other one.
Still not really my thing
Not at all bad, considering
Better than expected, but not much
Better than I was expecting
Some moments that don’t require drugs to appreciate. But not many.
It does go on a bit, does it not.
Better than I was expecting
Not really my thing, but ok in its way
It’s ok, in a Blurry sort of fashion.
Still some glorious moments
An extra star for being only 21 minutes long
Quite the barrel of laughs
Yeah, not really my thing, but ok
Liked this a lot more than I thought I would
Better than I was expecting
Glimmers of Back to Black, but that’s all
Still holds up after all these years
Not quite as good as I remember
It’s ok, albeit a bit dull
It's OK, but I have had more than enough Sonic Youth for one week
Made me sweat. Made me groove.
Talking Heads do this better
Better than I was expecting
Much better than I was expecting
Couldn’t get into this much at all
Never got into Dylan, but this is very good
Pretty good for a lazy Sunday afternon
Didn’t really do much for me
Still awesome after all these years
Live fast, die young and leave a cracking album
Never seen the attraction
Not bad, despite the whineness
Better than I was expecting
Warming to this, after only about forty years
The things that dreams are made of
Weird, but in a decent way
Stands up OK, but only just.
A bit dull, surprisingly.
Melon well and truly twisted
She doo-wopped that thing, yeah
Better than I was expecting
Not her best, but still better than most
Not their best, but still …
Interesting, and growing on me.
Classy, but a bit … sombre?
One star off for the slight ick factor
It's OK, but a little dull
Very much his strongest album
Very much of the same mould as Talking Heads, surprisingly.
Pretty good, even if it is missing Spirit of 69.
Better than I was expecting
Even for Björk, this is weird
It’s got something, I just don’t know what
Not unpleasant, but a bit dull
Pretty good example of it’s type
Thought this might be a bit better
Dylan goes to Nashville. Again.
Two stone cold classic songs, plus
Still, ironically, unironic
