This album is the musical equivalent of that modern art piece where the banana is taped to the wall. Critics will Ooh and Aah, and discuss the statement the banana makes and the commentary of some such or other they've pulled out of their arse. While the rest of us stare and say "It's a fucking banana". Granted, this album is probably for aspiring musicians and music producers who push forward the craft, rather than the typical music listener. I can't rate an album highly when critics' note "After I listened to the album for the 6th time, it made sense" as it's 80 minutes of experimental and a-rhythmic jargon. Not a fan, I will never listen to it again as it's not something I would actively choose to listen to. I'm sure it's a vital piece of music creation and influenced many, but one of those many isn't me.

Fantastic album.
The second best Stones album of their golden era. No track misses.
Amidst this double album is a single album length's worth of good tracks, but the padding brings it down from the heights those tracks reach. Maybe a Manassas Selects would earn 5 stars. Standouts include Both Of Us, Colorado, How Far.

It's Iggy Pops Band and featured Search and Destroy. May grow on me over time.
A pleasant Bossa Nova album that unfortunately reminds me of my oldest brother.
Smooth country rock listening, a good album.
Background music, quite good
A very strong album from Common.
A good album for it's time, but I'm partial to The Beatles and Rolling Stones.
The New York Dolls appeared alongside The Stooges and Velvet Underground with a proto-punk sound - there are some good tracks in there.
Very strong debut from Black Sabbath - a fan
A decent album but ultimately not for me.
Strong album.
A few good soons but ultimately weaker than their debut.
A few good songs but held back by some odd choices.
A few good tracks
Nice artist, good vibe
A Perfect album.
Great album.
Good album.
Quite good.
Great album of a band who brought the lead guitar back to the indie rock forefront, alongside The Pixies
Some good tracks but ultimately just okay.
Too fast paced and arhythmic for my taste
A few good hits.
An okay album that deserves 3.5 because the good tracks are really good.
It has oh baby on it. Very good album.
Strong album.
Some good tracks but not for me. Very instrumental.
Good album before Bjork launched her solo career.
Not for me.
An influential album I wouldn't choose to re-listen to.
Last 2 tracks stop this from being perfect.
It's a good album, but not quite as good as the hits of the album: Somebody to Love, and White Rabbit.
A few tracks in the second half stop this from being a much deserved 5 stars.
There's a good sound here but I'm a little indifferent to it.
Some good tracks but a sound I can't get immersed in.
Near flawless album.
Standout Stones sound with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood in the 70s
I just couldn't get into this album. Something was off about the sound, then I found out the guy is from Edinburgh, not Jamaica, and recently he headbutt a guy with cancer because the guy said Game of Thrones was more relevant than him. Aside from that, the sound isn't for me.
Nice 50s sound that's brought down by the cowboy theme which cheapens listenability. A sad yeehaw.
Good sound here but I don't think I would seek it out.
Good tracks here and there but nothing too special.
Last two tracks stop this from being perfect, but it's still very good.
Good album but I wouldn't choose to listen to it.
I understand the sound was influential for later but I couldn't get into this one.
There are a few good tracks here but this is held back by some like "Onie" "The King Is In The Counting House" and "Toonerville Trolley" that come across a little goofy. The good tracks are great though.
It's Led Zeppelin, what do you expect?
Not a jazz fan, but I am now.
Good album but generally not my style.

Good tracks here but I'm not a metalhead.
Not a soul fan, but there are great tracks here.
A fun Latin American album.
There are some great tracks here but the lyrics of some hold it back from being a 5.
This one is for me.
A great album, but Arctic Monkeys takes the edge for me
Wu-Tang forever.
A good album held back by Free form Guitar.
Good album but it's in German so I can't regularly rotate it.
It's the Carpenters, absolutely for me.
Interesting album whose musical decision of long solos prevent a higher rating or daily rotation.
Country Road, Fire and Rain, and Suite for 20G.
Surprisingly great sound here
Very strong album.
There's some good lyricism here.
Never listened to Oasis before - I get it now.
A very good album.
While some tracks don't quite hit the mark for me, and lyrics at points are too on the nose, there is something magnetic about this album.
David Bowie brings an interesting sound here that becomes klmore ambient in the second half.
Not a prior listener to the Bee Gees, but nothing stuck out for me here.
Good album.
While the second half becomes experimental and instrumental, this is still a great album.
The issue with live albums of artists you haven't heard before is that you can't tell where the original track ends and the embellishments begin. An avid fan already has that familiarity with the track and so appreciates the additional stuff performed during concert. But it's all new to a new listener, so when those embellishments start and tracks can last 20 minutes, it can be hard to stay engaged. This album gets 3 stars because I do like what I've heard, but I'll need to visit the studio versions to see if Deep Purple are an artist I'll follow.
Not a bad sound here, it's the Come On Eileen album.
A great live album striking the right balance between tune and embellishment.
A few good tracks here - and I like their hits - but I don't think Depeche Mode's style is for me.
Some good tracks here, but I'm not sure I would regularly rotate this. Ms. Lauryn Hill is a standout however.
Strong tracks here.
Some strong beats and lyricism from Chuck D, brought down by the second half which wasn't for me.
There are a few Radiohead albums on this list, and I'll be keeping an eye out for them. Never listened to them before - I get it now.
This is a good band I'd like to explore more.
This is a surprisingly strong album with 'School's Out' being the weakest track of the 9.
A few good tracks here.
Recognizing my Bob Dylan bias, this isn't a perfect album but if you like that sound it comes very close.
Interesting 15 minute punk rock foray.
Not my sound.
Fun instrumental album.
Another strong album from Stevie Wonder.
A few good tracks here.
Serviceable Punk album.
A strong album held back by moments of screeching.
Good tracks here.
Not my sound, but the opening track is the meme.
Some great tracks here.
Not every track hits here, but this is a strong rock album from CCR.
A few good tracks but not my sound.
There are a few good songs here, with "Love is Here to Stay" being a personal favourite for its sentimental value, and I like the style - but the lyrical content of the songs is less appealing to me.
Very strong easy listening. Standouts include Mother & Child Reunion, Run That Body Down, Me And Julio, and Paranoia Blues (Unreleased).
An okay pop punk album with a few good hits in Teenage Kicks, Family Entertainment, and I Know A Girl. Not a huge fan of the undertones on a lot of these tracks however.
Not generally my sound but Human Behaviour, One Day, Aeroplane, and Play Dead are standouts.
A very strong live album where the audience is well-integrated. Standouts are Folsom Prison Blues, Dark as the Dungeon, Cocaine Blues, The Long Black Veil, Green Green Road Home, and Greystone Chapel.
Exceptional album. Standouts are London Calling, Spanish Bombs, Lost in the Supermarket, and many more.
A strong album from Elton John with standouts in Tiny Dancer, Levon, Madman Across The Water and All The Nasties.
A surprisingly strong punk album. Standouts include I Am A Cliche, Identity, Cigarettes, and Germfree Adolescents.
Phenomenal album with standouts in Respect, Drown In My Own Tears, and I Never Loved A Man.
Avant-garde Jazz that was not my sound at all.
Soft and whimsical listening. Not really my style.
It's not my style generally but I recognise this is a good album with standouts in Clocks, God Put A Smile On Your Face, Daylight, and a Rush of Blood to the Head.
The first half of this album is fantastic with standouts in Cult of Personality, Middle Man, I Want To Know, and Desperate People. However the second half loses that rock centre and opts for off lyricism and an uneven funk feeling.
Not really my sound for its lean towards metal
For my taste, I just can't get into how angry this album gets although I am a fan of the slower songs. Standouts include Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, and Nothing Else Matters.
Despite liking the opening track "Message in a Bottle", the rest of the album just isn't for me for its overall sound and reggae infused vocals.
A sombre album from Ray Charles with standouts in Let The Good Times Roll and It Had To Be You.
Reggae sound that's not really for me.
A strong funk 80s album. Standouts in Favourite Shirts, Love Plus One, Nobody's Fool, and October is Orange.
With the exclusion of the final track Endless, Nameless, this is a perfect album. Personal standouts include Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, In Bloom, Lithium, Something In The Way, Polly, Drain You, Lounge Act and Stay Away.
There's potential here, standouts in Play for Today and In Your House.
Not my sound for leaning too heavily into Metal, but of the 28 tracks, Standouts are Tonight, Tonight, Zero, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, 1979, Thru The Eyes of Ruby, and Stumbleine.
The Neat Neat Neat Band - A fun short punk album that's not so much my sound. Standouts in Love Song, Machine Gun Etiquette and Anti-Pope.
Not my sound.
What an interesting sound. Every song on this album is a standout.
A strong album with standouts in Novocaine for the Soul, Rags to Rags, and Splunky.
A strong album by R.E.M let down by it's second half. Standouts lie in Finest Worksong, Welcome To The Occupation, Exhuming McCarthy, and Disturbance At The Heron House.
An interesting album that I don't think is really my sound. Nonetheless, standouts lie in Summers Cauldron, Season Cycle, and Dear God.
Not my sound, although the album features This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us.
28 1-2 minute very heavy death.metal tracks. Not my sound.
What a tremendous album from the Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Album standouts include Love The One Your With, Do For Others, Old Times Good Times, Go Back Home, Cherokee, and We Are Not Helpless.
Not a bad post-punk sound.
Not my sound.
A strong album with standouts in Shapes Of Things, Let Me Love You, Let Me Love You, and Ol' Man River.
Noise rock, not my sound.
Strong 7-track album.
Not really my sound, but Rio, Hungry Like A Wolf, and Lonely In Your Nightmare are good.
Not for me.
A 60 minute piano improvisation that never felt forced or incohesive. A very strong change of pace from the typical sort of music I listen to.
An easygoing album held back by my inability to understand the lyrics.
It's Jimi Hendrix.
A few good tracks in Fairytale of New York, Turkish Song Of The Damned, and Thousands Are Sailing but that's all.
It's good music but the musician is too problematic.
This is not my sound, but it is interesting.
This is a good album - I'm coming around to Coldplay, at least their early stuff. Standouts include Shiver, Spies, Yellow, and High Speed.
Not a bad album, standouts are Take Five, Three To Get Ready, and Kathy's Waltz.
This is a strong album with Standouts in You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket, Mary Jane, and Not The Doctor.
Not a bad sound. Standouts include Quiet Heart, Was There Anything I Could Do, and Dive For Your Memory.
Wouldn't regularly rotate, but it's good for ambient background music.
Not a bad sound. Standouts include Step In The Arena, Execution Of A Chump, and Check The Technique.
Not quite as good as At Folsom Prison, but it ain't half bad on its own. Standouts include Wanted Man, Wreck Of The Old 97, I Walk The Line, and Folsom Prison Blues.
Strong album with a Standout in Paper Tiger
As they moved into the 90s, R.E.M starts producing a sound that I don't think is for me. It's the Everybody Hurts album. Standouts include Ignoreland, Monty Got A Raw Deal and New Orleans Instrumental No. 1.
I can understand why this album is so heralded - It seems I'm a bigger fan of Speakerboxxx than The Love Below, as I think most of the standouts come from Big Boi.
While there are standouts in Age of Pamparius, Zillion Dollar Sadist, and their cover of Bowie's Suffragette City for great guitar work, unfortunately the crass lyrics hold this group back.
Each track of this 8 track album is a standout. Free Bird especially.
A classic. Standouts include Out In The Street, I Don't Mind, My Generation, I'm a Man, and The Ox.
I am not a Swiftie - My wife made me rate this album 5 stars.
This album isn't bad. Standouts include Into My Arms, West Country Girl, and Idiot Prayer.
This isn't a bad album but I'm not sure about regular rotation. Standouts include I Don't Remember, Family Snapshot, Through The Wire and Battles Without Frontiers.
A very cohesive and strong album. Standouts include But I'm Different Now, Set The House Ablaze, Start!, Boy About Town, and Scrape Away.
I'm starting to think Massive Attack isn't for me.
This is a fun album with Standouts in Re-make/Re-Model, Ladytron, If There Is Something, 2HB, and Would You Believe?
What an album. Every track is a standout and altogether a very cohesive piece.
Not a bad album with a few standouts in Kamera, Jesus Christ Etc, and Heavy Metal Drummer.
What else would you expect from the King?
What a refreshing and brilliant Jazz-funk album.
Not a bad album. Standouts in Sail Away, Lonely At The Top, and You Can Leave Your Hat On.
Every track is a standout.
Another strong album, with standouts in Freddie's Dead, Ma and Pa, One Day, and Slow Bus Moving.
What a truly tremendous double album from one of the greatest bands of all time. Standouts include Back In The U.S.S.R., Glass Onion, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, I'm So Tired, Blackbird, Birthday, Yer Blues, Mother Nature's Son, Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey, Long, Long, Long, Revolution 1, Cry Baby Cry, and Good Night.
While I have a soft spot for Kim Gordon, this album proves a little too noisy for regular rotation. However, the standouts and exceptions to that notion include Teen Age Root, The Sprawl, and 'Cross The Breeze.
This took a few listens but it's a strong album. Standouts include Badlands, Adam Raised A Cain, Something In The Night, Prove It All Night, and Darkness On The Edge Of Town.
Fantastic album.
Not for me. For how great Bjork can be, this feels like an atonal mishmash of sound.
This album isn't bad, but the sound doesn't particularly grip me either. This album has Tears of Rain, The Weight, and I Shall Be Released on it.
Not bad for an atmospheric play.
Not my style, but catchy.
Not a bad sound. Standouts include Dance With Me, Latifah's Law, and Wrath Of The People.
This album has Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City, and Sweet Child of Mine, but it's a sound I can't fully get behind.
This is a strong indie album, that predated that Sean Lennon sound. Standouts lie in Speed Trials, Alameda, Between The Bars, and Ballad Of Big Nothing.
A decent 80s rock album. Standouts include Jump, Panama, and Drop Dead Legs.
Buffalo Stance is good, as is Kisses, but the rest doesn't really strike me
While slightly more vocal, Femi Kuti is clearly following in the footsteps of his father, Fela Kuti.
This album just didn't do it for me.
While Song 2 and M.O.R are great tracks, I don't think this album would be regular rotation for me.
I'm British.
This album is a clear concept rock opera album that's quite strong. The album includes Pinball Wizard.
This isn't a bad album, but again it runs into the issue of being unable to recognise where the track ends and embellishments begin.
How could a band ever follow up Rumours? Tusk doesn't quite exceed expectations but it's still quite good. Standouts include Over And Over, The Ledge, Sara, Sisters Of The Moon, Angel, Tusk, and Never Forget.
There are some strong tracks here, but the genre doesn't really suit me. Standouts include Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, and Lovesong.
This is a good dream-pop ambient album, but wouldn't be regularly rotated by me.
This is my first encounter with this type of music, and to my surprise, it's not bad.
Nice easy listening.
I'm a fan of this genre, but the album itself doesn't quite hit that 5 star mark for me. Standouts include Cloud Nine, I Need Your Loving, and Gotta Keep On Trying Till I Win Your Love.
It's not my sound, but Longview and Welcome To Paradise are great tracks.
This is a strong album, but doesn't quite hit the 5 star mark for me. Standouts include This Is A Call, I'll Stick Around, and Big Me.
A great album that I don't want to forget.
This album has made me curious as to what the rating metric for this project is, because this is a far cry from Costello's debut, and doesn't even rank highly across numerous ratings boards. So why is it on here?
Strange Brew, Sunshine of Your Love, Brave Ulysses, SWLABR, Outside Woman Blues? Classic/10.
There's a lot of strong tracks on this album, such as Good Times Roll and You're All I've Got Tonight, but Just What I Needed knocks it out of the park.
This album just doesn't do it for me. I have a lot of appreciation for Deep Purple and recognise their classic and influential status, however the only tracks of this album I enjoyed were Smoke On The Water and When A Blind Man Cries.
I like Lou Reed, but this album didn't quite do it for me.
Decent pop album from the early 00's - Standouts include Señorita, Like I Love You, Oh No What You Got, and Cry Me A River.
Chris Cornell, man. Tremendous album with every track standing out in its own way.
A generic indie pop album with standouts in Keep The Car Running, No Cars Go, and My Body Is A Cage.
Nice funk sound. Standouts include Can You Get To That, and Hit It And Quit It.
Sonic Youth inspired, but not really my sound.
Easy listening hip-hop.
Very strong and accessible Blues album, with Standouts in every track.
There's a good sound buried in here that gets caught up in the punk aesthetic. Standouts include Rich, Date With The Night, Maps, and Yeah! New York.
While guitar heavy at points, the majority of tracks are my sound. Standouts include Prowler, Remember Tomorrow, Running Free, Phantom Of The Opera, and Strange World.
This is a live album where the embellishments - with exception - are lean, and the concert setting enhances the music. Each track is a Standout.
Crass lyricism meets a few good beats.
Good for a certain mood and to play DOOM to.
Very easy listening Indie Pop, where every track is a Standout.
Strong pop album with an 80s sound and standouts in Tonite, This Town, We Got The Beat, and Fading Fast.
Indifferent.
Costello is becoming an artist I'm conflicted about, as his debut album was brilliant, but each album of his I've heard since has struggled to reach the high of My Aim Is True. Shame.
Solid sound, but not my genre.
While not a fan of each track, those I am are really strong. Standouts include Father To Son, White Queen, Some Day One Day, The Loser In The End, and Seven Seas Of Rhye.
Fantastic album with Standouts in Breathe, Time, The Great Gig In The Sky, Money and Eclipse.
Exceptional album, with Standouts in Rainy Day Women #12 & 35, Pledging My Time, Visions Of Johanna, I Want You, Stuck Inside A Mobile..., Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat, Most Likely You Go Your Way, Fourth Time Around, Obviously Five Believers, and Sad-Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands.
To my surprise, this is a strong album with Standouts in every track, but it's not my genre and for specific listening settings.
This isn't a bad album, and I think I may be becoming a Radiohead fan, if but all the tracks didn't sound so similar.
This album is nice, but I'm not sure there's anything about it that would make me return to it.
Strong album with Standouts in Changes, Oh You Pretty Things, Life On Mars, Quicksand, Song For Bob Dylan, Queen Bitch, and The Bewlay Brothers.
Not bad, standouts include One Nation Under A Groove, Into You, Cholly, and Maggot Brain (Live).
The first half of this album is feral egoism; works for the gym. However the second half doesn't quite have the same energy.
This is an interesting album that I'm unfortunately largely indifferent to. Can't say if I'd regularly rotate, despite many tracks being exceptional. Standouts include O Stella, Victory, Sheela-na-gig, Plants and Rags, and Water.
This is a great slower album, with standouts in Stories Of The Street, Suzanne, Master Song, So Long Marianne, Hey That's No Way To Say Goodbye, and Teachers.
Entertaining background music, but not my style.
Beside Anderson Paak's track, this sound isn't for me and the lyrics are too on the nose.
He's the King, what do you expect?
Not a bad sound, but I'm not sure it'd get regular rotation. Standouts include Goodbye T'Jane, I Don't Mind, Candidate Y, and Man Who Speaks Evil.
The instrumentals here are great, but the vocalist and the lyricism really hold this one back.
Generally not my sound, but there are good songs here. Standouts include Breaking The Law, United, Living After Midnight, and The Rage.
Not bad if you're in the right mood.
Accessible techno music that the right mood would serve really well.
It's not a bad sound, but it's not for me.
Strong album, with Standouts in War Pigs, Paranoid, Planet Caravan, and Iron Man.
Having listened to a few Depeche Mode tracks growing up, I never got the hype outside a few songs. Having listened to Violator, now I know.
An interesting one that's highly rated and critically acclaimed. But I just can't get into it - in this genre, I'm a bigger fan of The Carpenters.
A few tracks here would make for decent Gym music, but the album isn't anything spectacular.
Instrumental Sitar music with a cover of Jumpin Jack Flash and Light My Fire. Not for me
Despite a Standout in Witch Hunt, this album leans very heavily into instrumental work that just doesn't resonate with me.
Despite liking the genre, this album didn't resonate with me.
Not for me.
Nice easy listening with Standouts in Punchbag, Angry Man, Sunshine, A Minha Menina, This Town, Sweet Like A Champion, and Sky Holds The Sun. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because of how fatiguing listening to the album cover to cover can be.
Strong album with Standouts in I'm Just Looking and Geno.
A strong sound with Ginger Baker that doesn't quite hit the high of his Zombie album.
Strong album with Standouts in Stan, The Real Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers, and Drug Ballad - but the album is held back by occasional off-putting misogyny.
There's a few good tracks here, such as Heart-Shaped Box, Dumb, Pennyroyal Tea, and All Apologies - but this album doesn't quite reach the heights of Nevermind.
With the exception of Ace of Spades, this sound doesn't quite resonate with me.
I like the vibe, but most of this album doesn't resonate with me. Standouts include Don't Worry About It, Breakout, and Maybe.
A very strong album with Standouts in every track.
With the exception of I Might Be Wrong, this album from Radiohead doesn't really do it for me.
While the last few tracks lean too heavily towards distortion and screaming, this is a strong album.
Strong instrumental tango with Standouts in Milonga Is Coming, and Laura's Dream.
A fantastic album with Standouts in Just A Little Lovin', Son Of A Preacher Man, Breakfast In Bed, The Windmills Of Your Mind, and No Easy Way Down.
Phenomenal easy listening with Standouts in every track.
A fun Christmas album that suits the Festive period.
Too heavy metal for my taste.
With the exception of DLZ, this album doesn't really do it for me.
There are a few good tracks here, like You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead Or Alive, and I'd Die For You, but the album doesn't quite resonate with me.
Not a bad sound.
A more acoustic sound from Zeppelin than their debut, that remains a Standout.
70s ska isn't my sound.
Very strong album with Standouts in Walk Away, Fighter, Infatuation, and Dirrty.
Not my sound, but Where The Wild Roses Grow isn't bad.
Nothing special, but Feeling Called Love is a Standout.
A few good tracks here and there, such as Mannish Boy, I Want To Be Loved #2, Jealous Hearted Man, and Crosseyed Cat.
This album starts with promise, but the same sound with little variety overstays it's welcome.
Not for me - atonal, a-rhythmic, and pretentiously Avant Garde.
Not my sound.
Strong album from The Smiths with Standouts in almost every track.
A few good tracks in The Rockefeller Skank and Praise You, but besides that - nothing special here.
Queen are such an essential and iconic group - and their biggest hits hit big - but this album just didn't do it for me. '39 is a great track, as is Bohemian Rhapsody, but the rest didn't grab me in the way I would have wanted to give it a higher rating.
Nothing special here.
Near every track here is a Standout.
Walk On By and Other Woman are great, but the other tracks are far too long to warrant a higher rating.
Strong album from Nick Drake with near every track a Standout.
This is a lovely country album from an artist ill definitely look into further. Standouts include The Pearl, I Don't Wanna Talk About It Now, Red Dirt Girl, My Baby Needs A Shepherd, One Big Love, Hour Of Gold, and Boy From Tulepo.
Listening to this album showed me that while Nirvana will always be Nirvana, Courtney Love isn't anything to scoff at either. Hole proves a pretty solid alternative rock sound.
Not a bad sound, but nothing particularly special here
Fun sound but nothing special here - More Than A Feeling is the Standout here.
Disc 1 earns a 5-star rating, but Disc 2 holds it back for getting Beatles weird.
Standouts include Dumb Waiters and Pretty In Pink.
Nothing special for me here.
A sound reminiscent of Fela Kuti, that doesn't quite reach those heights but is still pretty good. Standouts include the first five tracks.
I can see why this group is so heralded. I need to hear more of them. Standouts include Piggy, March Of The Pigs, Closer, and Hurt.
With Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, and Pretty Young Thing, I understand this album's place. But MJ's sound isn't really for me.
Nothing special here.
Despite Standouts in Young Americans, Fame, and Who Can I Be Now? This album doesn't hit the mark for me.
Avant-garde but not for me. I'm sure it's influential but I wouldn't listen to it again.
Despite Walk This Way, this album didn't grip me.
While The World Is A Ghetto and Beetles In The Bog are great, the album itself doesn't warrant a higher rating.
This would not be regular rotation for me.
A great album, each track has merit, but Deacon Blues is my favourite.
The opening track, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Mother Nature, and Do Your Thing are the Standouts that earn this album 4 stars.
Occasional on the nose lyricism holds this back for me, but this album is stellar. Standouts include Baba O'Riley, Bargain, Love Ain't For Keeping, My Wife, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won't Get Fooled Again. This deluxe edition also has a second disc that offers a strong live collection of songs.
An incredible pioneering sound reminiscent of The Velvet Underground - Standouts in every track.
If The Beatles went country, they'd be The Byrds. A decent country album with Standouts in Hickory Wind, One Hundred Years From Now, Nothing Was Delivered, You Got A Reputation, Lazy Days and Pretty Polly.
Bossa Nova Bliss.
While the Beastie Boys fall into the same trap as Nirvana - wherein all the tracks start to sound the same - this album is still incredibly strong.
There are a few good songs here, like Turn To Stone, Across The Border, Starlight, Believe Me Now, Standing In The Rain, Summer and Lightning and Mr Blue Sky - but this album doesn't quite reach the height for me.
An incredibly smooth album, that can be listened to anywhere.
The Thrill Of It All and Bitter Sweet are good, but that's about it.
Iconic but aged. Standouts include Straight Outta Compton, Fuck The Police, and Express Yourself.
To get wasted to this was a white boys wet dream upon release. Standouts include Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Andy You're A Star, and Midnight Show.
An impressive showcase of guitar playing - but a disappointing album.
I have tried several times to get into Kendrick given how iconic he has become in recent years, but he's just not for me. This album is generally heralded, but for me it's just okay. Standouts include Sherane, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Good Kid, Mad City, Real, and Compton.
Proof that concept albums aren't always good.
Generally enjoyable acoustic pop music. Standouts include I Should've Known, Fifty Years After Fair, and 4th Of July.
There's quite a lot of Costello on here, eh? Fortunately this one isn't too bad. Standouts include Tokyo Storm Warning, I Want You, and Battered Old Bird.
This album, surprisingly, doesn't quite do it for me. Although Father And Son is the Standout.
After Supper is the Standout here. Great album.
Stones-lite with inflections of the early Beatles, not bad. Standouts are Have You Seen My Baby? And Whiskey Woman.
An amalgamation of a variety of sounds with instrumentals that strive to be Portishead. Standouts are Keeping The Pigs Together, and Belladonna.
Despite a slight lean into instrumentation in the third quarter, this album is spectacular. Smooth funk, where the Standouts are Inspiration Information, Island Letter, Aht Uh Mi Hed, Strawberry Letter 23, and Freedom Flight.
Very nice talented jazz on display here. Standouts are Black And Tan Fantasy, and Skin Deep.
A very concise and smooth, early rock and roll album. Great, if it's your style.
A sound that veers too heavily into the atonal, but strikes gold with Cliche, Forced Love, and Think.
Despite being a huge Beatles fan, this album just does not do it for me. Working Class Hero is the Standout but I may be biased for its lean into Dylan.
You're kidding, another Robert Wyatt album?! This sounds like something a kid would make when using a piano for the first time. "You just don't get it man, real music is arrhythmic, aimless, and a-tonal." Fuck off.
Strong album. Personal Standouts are Southern Man, Don't Let It Bring You Down, and When You Dance You Can Really Love.
The Beatles are a seminal and iconic group - I love them - but this album just doesn't do it for me. The first track is phenomenal, but the rest just isn't for me.
There are a few good tracks here like Konnichiwa, Man, and That's Not Me - but the rest of the album really falls short for weak lyricism, and base themes.
A fun punk sound, with Standouts hard to choose.
When I first saw this album listed, I thought "Another one? Really?" But upon 2 listens, there is actually something captivating here. Standouts are the first four tracks.
The sort of thing hackers in the 2000's would listen to in the movies. Standouts include Breathe, and Firestarter.
Truly tremendous. A brilliant collaboration of sounds, tinged with Marvin Gaye and Hooverphonic. Standouts are You Ain't The Problem, Rolling, Hero, Solid Ground, and Light. Kiwanuka has a new fan.
What else can you say? It's Hendrix. Standouts are Little Wing, If 6 Was 9, and Bold As Love.
Perfectly serviceable indie pop. Every track does the job.
A good sound here, it's Kiss, they were iconic for a reason. Standouts include Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, and Shout It Out Loud.

Strong hip hop.
Not bad. Back In The Saddle, Lost Child, Combination, and Home Tonight are the Standouts.
Average - Standouts include Ballad Of Mott The Hoople, and Rose.

What an album. Tomorrow's Dream, Supernaut, Snowchild and the opener and closer are the Standouts.
Strong mostly instrumental Latin Jazz. Standouts include Black Magic Woman, and Oye Como Va.
Strong British Folk sound, with the Standouts being Matty Groves, The Deserter, and Tam Lin.
Inspiration for Jurassic 5 deserves some recognition, but the overtly sexual subject matter gets old after a while.
Good gym music, with Standouts in Gematria, Vendetta, and Psychosocial.
R.E.M. is becoming one of my top artists. Every track here is a Standout, with the title track in particular.
A fun at times country infused indie album with Standouts in Sunken Waltz, Quattro, and Black Heart.
A fun instrumental album that still holds up today, with Standouts in Part II and IV.

Fun funky album, with Standouts in Sign O' The Times, The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker, Slow Love, Forever In My Life, and I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.
Not my sound.
Great album here, but I don't want to jump the gun. Suppose it's only fitting that someone who adores Faces like Rod Stewart too. Standouts are every track.
Strong Folk album with Standouts in American Pie, Vincent, and Empty Chairs.
Great album with Standouts in Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and Red Hill Mining Town.
Fantastic album filled with simmering anger. The Standouts are Sleep To Dream, Criminal, The First Taste, and The Child Is Gone.
Perhaps it was just the right album at the right time, but this one doesn't resonate quite as strongly as their 90s foray. The Standouts however are If I Am, and In Another Way for Butcher's vocals.
Despite occasionally deviating into a sound that just doesn't resonate with me, these 4 tracks make up a strong funk and jazz sound.
The second album on this list from The Flaming Lips doesn't quite reach the heights of the former. Standouts include Yoshimi Fights The Pink Robots and Are You A Hypnotist.

A fun album with Standouts in I Remember When, Simon Diamond, and Waiting For The Heartache.
An indie album that really doesn't resonate with me, with the exception of Your Protector.
With Clint Eastwood and 19-2000 in tow, the album struggles to reach the heights of its hits.
The second best Stones album of their golden era. No track misses.
Mingus is one to watch. This is the type of Jazz I want to listen to.
Ambient and catchy Senegalese music.
Easy listening background music, with Standouts in Railing, Brown Paper Bag, and New Forms.
What an album. Standouts include Supervixen, Queer, Only Happy When It Rains, As Heaven Is Wide, And Stroke Of Luck. But really, all the tracks are fantastic.
A few great tracks in Honey, Porcelain, and Natural Blues but the rest of the album doesn't quite reach the same heights.
The One You Love and Peach Trees are good, but the rest of the album isn't really to my taste.
Background music that isn't really my sound.
Revolution 909, Phoenix, and High Fidelity are the Standouts here for a genre I haven't given much attention to before.
When I saw another Nick Cave album, my first thought was "Not again!" But then I listened to the album. And it's pretty good this time. The entirety of Disc 1 is phenomenal, with tracks such as Get Ready For Love, Hiding All Away, There She Goes My Beautiful World, Nature Boy, Abbatoir Blues, and Fable Of The Brown Ape. While Disc 2 slows things down considerably, there are still some very strong tracks here too i.e. The Lyre Of Orpheus, Supernaturally, Spell, Carry Me and of course - O Children. A great album really. Caught me off guard Mr. Cave.
I wouldn't really class myself as an Aretha fan, but then I listened to this album. Yeah, that's changed. This album is phenomenal, and definitely a must-own. In conjunction with her 1967 I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You, I see now why she is the Queen of Soul. Good God.
Not bad, but not for me. Standouts include Stolen Car, Pass In Time, Stars All Seem To Weep, and Blood Red River.
Cool to see Bowie and Iggy collaborate, but the album isn't for me. Standouts are China Girl and Dum Dum Boys.
While Paper Bag, Human, and Pilots channel a Portishead-infused Hooverphonic sound, the rest of the album doesn't live up to that. Horse Tears isn't a bad end note however.
Blowin' In The Wind, The Girl From The North Country, Masters Of War, A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall, Don't Think Twice It's All Right, Corrina Corrina, and I Shall Be Free? Dylan shows the world he has potential.
Shake Your Rump, Johnny Ryall, and Shadrach are the Standouts here.
Not my sound. Pet Shop Boys' West End Girls is noteworthy however.
The only thing stopping this album from being a one is Slightly All The Time proving serviceable jazz.
Not bad, but generally not my sound.
Vibrantly energetic, but non-resonating.
Wow.
The string arrangement on Lionsong is cool, but someone really needs to give Bjork a hug.
The opener, Afterglow, and Song Of A Baker are fine, but I prefer Faces.
It's the Beatles. Standouts are Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, In My Life, and Run For Your Life.
What an incredible voice partnered with another sad story from the 70s.
So this is why The Cure is so popular? You bloody misanthropes 4.5 Stars
Synth heavy Depeche mode inspired 80s music. Standouts are Souvenir, Georgia, and Gravity Never Fails.
A little too much like Captain Beefheart with it's atonality.
It's not terrible, it's just not for me.
Not Bowie's best for my ear, but Wild Is The Wind is beautiful.
Easy listening Samba.
This feels like an suitable album to mildly appropriate.
We all miss the old Kanye, don't we?
Cool breeze country without the twang. Slow Burn, Lonely Weekend, High Horse.
Curse of the live album embellishments.
Not for me, but this album does feature that famous We Want The Funk song.
Another that's not for me.
Wow. He's The Greatest Dancer, Lost In Music, We Are Family, One More Time.
Solid indie rock. Under The Pressure, Red Eyes, and An Ocean In Between The Waves.
It's Kate Bush, but it's not really my sound - Jig Of Life is good though.
I agree with the top review of this album; it's not for me. Yet, there is appeal in Children Of The Damned and Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Strong first impression betrays plain 80s Britpop that overstays it's welcome. Not for me.
The tracks here - than the Standouts of Money for Nothing and Brothers In Arms - grow on you after a few listens but it still wouldn't be regular rotation (Your Latest Trick excepted).
I mean come on, it's Velvet Underground - Classic/10. I'm Waiting For My Man, Femme Fatale, Venus In Furs, Run Run Run, Heroin.
There's a good sound here falling just shy of 5 stars. Standouts include Feel, The Ballad Of El Goodo, In The Street, Thirteen, Watch The Sunrise, and Give Me Another Chance.
Pretty standard Bollywood stuff, but infuses the best elements with that of Western tropes of the time.
Fun late 60s addition by The Kinks, with the Standouts being Village Green, Picture Book, Last Of The Steam Powered Trains, and Wicked Annabella.
Punchy punk rock that's far too staccato for my taste
Blue Orchid is good, but the rest of the album doesn't reach that height.
Serviceably funky 80s Synth pop.
Fun, easy listening soft rock - with Standouts in While You See A Chance, Arc Of A Diver, Spanish Dancer, and Night Train.
Dre heralds the death of introspective rap with an album that ages like milk.
Amidst this double album is a single album length's worth of good tracks, but the padding brings it down from the heights those tracks reach. Maybe a Manassas Selects would earn 5 stars. Standouts include Both Of Us, Colorado, How Far.
Bogstandard Punk.
A strong folk album. Astral Weeks and Young Lovers Do.
The band name and occasional lyricism hold back strong beats here.
Come on now.
Not a bad sound - sit alongside The Smiths and Cure.
Good soul - Caught Up In The Rapture, Been So Long, Same Ole Love.
Early 00's British Institution.
Don't be ridiculous.
Soundtrack to a 00's Heist Movie that finds itself on the Nostromo. Decent Background Music.
Easy listening House album.
I imagine this is what John Marston was humming to himself in Red Dead 2 in those 20 missions before American Venom where he just builds a house and looks after his wife and kids. 5 stars.
Strong sound of the 2010's Band with Standouts in Hail Bop, Default, and Wor.
This just works for me.
Mm, not quite. There are a few songs here that aren't that bad, though.
Serviceable Bossa Nova Cafe Jazz.
Come on.
Nothing special here.
Boys Better, Minnesoter, and Orange.
Fine ambient music with blues infusions towards the end.
Too arrhythmic for my tastes
