Went back for a second listen
Just a bit too much of it
More panpipes than I was expecting
Effortless voice. Still a bit boring though.
Went back for a second listen
His voice surprised me with every new track.
Happened to get this as I was watching the mass ascent of about 60 hot air balloons. Needless to say, 👌
Couldn't finish
I love rock and I love metal but I think I can admit that I don't like Metallica. Is it even heavy? Or if it is heavy, it isn't anything else. Still, better than some of the nonsense on this list
Here we go :)
I get that it's kind of inconsistent but - Brit pop: good. Glam: good. Rock: good. Psychedelia: goooood. What's not to like?
Went back for a second closer listen.
Eh...
Hmm. Fun music, not fun lyrics.
One of my favourites. Just lovely
He feels like a serial appropriator. A hard and embarrassing listen, reaching new lows with Only God Knows Why.
Great music, weird interludes
New to me: surprisingly fun
Better than ...And Justice For All by a long way.
This one was a struggle. The Sex Pistols was an experiment that worked. This was an experiment that didn't.
Sounds like 90s films. Better than most singer songwriters I've been given so far
Great fun
Surprised by this :)
It's just cold and dark and rainy enough for 3 stars
Didn't realise I liked the Pixies :)
Probably not different enough from real blues to be good.
Bit of an endurance test, but pleased to have listened to it through
Pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to be sadder to enjoy this
The horrendous misspellings are a key part of this album's charm
I hadn't heard this before. I enjoyed it
I wasn't sure what to expect from a band I'd heard of but never consciously listened to, but I think I'd thought I'd like it more.
There's better punk
Not what I expected from the Bee Gees?
Desperately dull. Almost angeringly so
Nice to find that weird doesn't have to mean unlistenable, unlike most of the experimental albums on this list
There are some really boring Americans in the reviews who seem to think that 'British' is its own genre that only has room for a few bands. This is great
Too long and too country
Not my favourite vocal style these days but good metal
Darlene Love is great, and I'm glad I didn't have to listen to this at a different time of year, but it's still Christmas music
New to me. Really liked the chilled, groovy experimentalism
More American nonsense
Obviously excellent
The guitar solos are pretty good but they don't fit with the rest of the song
No fun
New to me. Great fun
Clearly a fantastic time, worth being a live album
Some bits were a little too weird, but mostly awesome
A nice opportunity to listen to something through properly
Really enjoyed this
Sure
dnf
Sounds like films from the early 2000s
Cool and unusual. My first time hearing New Orleans R&B psychedelia
These songs have no business being 5+ minutes. The best thing about it is some songs sound like the end of a rom com
Weird and cool
Really liked some of it but definitely not all of it
Streaming platforms love giving me Stepping Stones. The rest of the album is pretty good too
Definitely the best solo Beatle album I've heard, but also definitely a bit too long
I remember feeling confused and annoyed when Arcade Fire headlined Reading. I still feel vaguely confused and annoyed
Abrasive beat, not my kind of music
Just gorgeous
I guess I can see why it was influential but dnf
If one of my friends had had the CD to rip, I'd have been listening to this for years
Bit jangly but not bad
Bit boring
Just classics, all the way down
Not great for the interval run I was doing. Was going to give 2 but then that last song really drove it down
Couldn't do it
More enjoyable new wave than lots
Sounds like Swindon
My husband: 'there's better post rock...'
Not completely my vibe but clearly a banging debut
Obviously this is pretty flawless
Not good enough to be this long
Had lumped Jane's Addiction in with the boring indie from that time but nice to find it's better than that
Great stuff
Honestly it sounds like Elvis wants to be here about as much as I do
Had fun with this
Completely new to me and excellent. Love the extra horns
Some of the more listenable weird 80s on this list
I think Kings of Leon might have suffered somewhat from the excessive success of Sex on Fire. Rather liked this album
Not bad, if you're in the right (sad) mood
Apparently a good example of a genre I don't like. Extra star for that
A great genre improved by this band
Nice
Quite enjoyed the weirdness of this one
It's just so good
I didn't listen too hard to the lyrics of Sex Dwarf, but I'm not completely sure about it. Sounds quite like a parody album (Memorabilia particularly fun), so up a star for that
Truly dreadful. The Rescue Blues is a proper misnomer. Honestly embarrassing
More boring than I expected? Disappointed
Good weird
Surprisingly interesting
Not bad
Lovely for a warm May evening
I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't an Iron Man cover. Obviously it's nothing on the original but I didn't hate this as an album
What a good day :)
Not usually a huge hardcore fan, but this is clearly pretty good
Sounds like a 90s heist movie
I enjoyed the music but not really the lyrics
Enjoyed this much more than when I first listened to it
Pretty interesting actually
A bit more variety than I expected from Joni Mitchell
Loved this!
Gross. Boring
Glorious
Surprising and great
Not my usual genre but I think this is rather good. Surprised it was 2020 - felt 90s in a great way
I really like the Rolling Stones but the misogyny is rough...
Went to listen to this only to realise I already listened to it two days ago... Which isn't a good sign
Still not a Joni Mitchell fan
Good fun
Really enjoyed the bluesy punchiness of this
Sonic Youth are the real find of this list for me
Great for running
Just flawless Janis
