Reviews (page 12 of 15)

Never listened to too much Pink Floyd, but I enjoyed this. It is still very psychedelic for me, but I liked it way better than what I thought.

Джазовые нотки, духовые инструменты (саксофон), треки переходы с минусом электронных звуков. Многие переходы вообще незаметно. Похоже на Beatles. Песня Money. Спокойная Us and them. Any color you like понравилась, лайк.

Every song here is good, not their best by any means and it's not outstanding but still really good

The highs are great, but there were a couple tracks that came and went without me even really noticing.

Let's get a few things out of the way before digging into this. Pink Floyd is one of the greatest Avant-garde, Space Rock, Progressive Rock, bands out there, and like all great British bands two of the member absolutely and totally fucking hate each other. Last I head David Gilmour has even called Roger Waters antisemitic. I'm sad that one of my favorite albums Ummagumma or Meddle are not on the list of albums to listen to because it's great. Regardless I think that Dark Side of the moon is a good Pink Floyd album but not a great Pink Floyd album in any way. I think that a lot of that comes from people enjoying the idea that this syncs up with "The Wizard Of Oz". Still a good album I think it's a good transition for them on to some of their biggest albums of all time The Wall, etc.

Time hits a lot harder these days

An absolute classic, one of those albums everyone needs to hear at some point. While the importance is undeniable, it does drag and become repetitive at multiple points.

This one gets all the raves, but it's not my favorite Pink Floyd album. It's fine and there are some great songs on here, but I do think the mythical status this one has achieved is a bit overblown.

Great album.

I've heard this album playing, in part or in whole, for a majority of my life and still didn't know some of the song titles.

Knallll. Kan dog ikke settes høyere, siden flere av låtene er noe trauste. Litt flytende for min smak.

When you have 25 mins of good songs but the album needs to be 38 mins. It’s not my favourite pink Floyd album but still a great listen

Amazing. Sexy guitar I love it

Lovely vibes, love the psychedelic energy too. Felt like listening to a fever dream and I love that

I’ve heard about psychedelic music before, but I didn’t understand what it was until now. The Dark Side of the Moon is atmospheric and humongous in its sound and scope. It sings about the world, but then it offers you a doorway through to the other side of a new experience. Far out, man. This album is cool. I get it now.

Iconic, timeless, innovative album. One day I hope to listen to this in reverse to get the full experience.

Great album but Ive heard it too much.

What a great album, can't deny the popularity, there are some incredible songs on this album. Instrumentally and lyrically beautiful. It's not Wish You Were Here though.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 6. MAMI, ES UN GAS 7. honestamente la mejor canción del disco 8. ROCK 9. Deidad 10. Bien boludo bieeen

An undeniable masterpiece though a bit wanky at moments.

This is one of those you can’t deny is a classic, marred only slightly by over familiarity with the songs.

It’s a good album. I love the guitar playing. I have always been, and remain to be, lukewarm on the vocals. I like a few of their albums better, but this is great and always fun to listen to.

Another heavy hitter here this week and maybe the best album of all time? Hard not to come to this anytime after, say, 1980-and-something and find it incredibly overrated, dated, a bit cheesy, etc. My path to it featured the usual late Gen X hurdles: more into punk and hardcore so allergic to this shit, ever present musos insisting this is the greatest album ever made so why bother trying to top it, and my own personal history where I was in a German play and the director - a huge Floyd fan - set a Brecht/Weil scene to (instead of a Weil composition!!!)...Money. Rehearsing that scene over and over and over to get the blocking right has left me a bit knee-jerk cringe to every second of that song from the cash register sounds to the bass line to the off kilter timing. It’s probably a great song, I’ll never know. That aside, this became one of my favourite albums much later in life, but maybe appropriately given the thematic/lyrical content. I can probably skip On the Run and Money forever and have a splendid just over a half hour listening experience. It wasn’t the motivation to try becoming a big time Floyd head - that was The Wall when I was 13 or so - but I’m pretty sure they never got it this right again, despite protestations from the Floyd faithful. I’d go so far as to say trying to elevate Wish You Were Here or the later albums does DSotM a disservice, it’s simply that much better than anything else they ever did let alone any other album ever made.

There is no dark side in the moon, really. Matter of fact, it's all dark.

Très très bon J'ai longuement hésité avec le 5 étoiles

gay cover

Must listen to album for all rock fans. Very experimental sound. a fantastic album to listen to really understand the music that came after this and how influential it was to our modern sound

I enjoyed this!

Classic. Iconic. Hypnotic. Psychedelic. Listened to this album quite a bit growing up, it had been awhile since I have heard it again in full. It's considered one of the greats for a reason.

The Wall will get a 5

Great stuff. Still has tracks that I just don't have that much fun listening to, but the highs are HIGH!

Sweet memories of high school and seeing Laser Floyd at the planetarium.

Talented but would enjoy this better high

it's The Fucking Dark Side of the Moon deserves to be one of the 1001? i don't know, you tell me

88% Best: Time; The Great Gig in the Sky; Money; Us and Them; Brain Damage Must-Hear? Sure

us and them is amazing. so cohesive

Highlight Song/s: Time, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like and Brain Damage One of the things that are most interesting about this album to me, is that they put some experimental stuff within the first couple songs on one of the most sold albums ever. Just going off of other top sold albums, you'd think they would put tracks like Time and Money first on the album; songs that have that popular or commercial sound to it. But NO they don't do that. I love how Eclipse transitions into Speak to Me, so the album only really ends when the listener decides it does. Amazing lines on this album: "Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way" (Time) "And after all, we're only ordinary men" (Us and Them) "And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes" (Brain Damage) "And everything under the Sun is in tune" (Eclipse) and probably the best line ever "I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" (Brain Damage)

Yeah people are right, this one rules. I know it might sound crazy, but yesterday was literally the first time I’ve listened to this album ever, lol! It actually wasn’t what I was expecting? I thought it was much more traditional rock - but this was very vibey and instrumental and experimental. I dug it bigtime. Listened to it three times, it was that good. Can you believe it? This album that everyone considers one of the best ever WAS amazing??

5/5 for it's time, it's a bit dated now but u can still appreciate the musicality and how it helped shape a generation and a half

the 1st song sounds like a spooky film hahaha i like the guitar, is funkeh. love when it goes "weUhhhhh" i wouldnt mind being on whatever these guys are on, vibes innit. Time was like an assault to my ears at the start, don't hate it though hehe I guess I can see why they still sell shirts with this album cover on lol' i liked the album but wouldn't really go back to listen to it???

Needs more listens. More 3.5 in rating.

It's been a long time since I listened to this whole album all the way through. This is a really good album, but I don't think it's their best. I feel like The Wall and Wish You Were Here are both better albums. For this one, you kind of have to be in the right mindset to really appreciate it. And I don't mean you need to be high, although that's probably how this was intended to be experienced. I mean all the parts of this album are there - guitars, bass, keys, vocals are all great. I think that it's biggest weakness is that because of the feel that they were leaning into with the whole album, it feels a little lazy and sleepy. But again, that's probably the point. Not a prefect album by any means, and it is certainly overrated, but it is still a great record. 4/5

Pink Floyd. One of my favorite band. This is one of their best album. Still tripping on their music. Great album.

It's a very nicely produced album with a big emotional swing; and I can see getting lost in it. But, I don't think individual songs really work by themselves. It's a great album but I wouldn't go back to listen to any individual parts of it for entertainment, and couldn't put it on in the background either, as its too interesting for other things to be happening during it, unless you're alone and not doing anything else.

I knew this was an important album coming into listening to it. I really liked it - I must admit it’s maybe not fully my thing, but I really appreciated the craftsmanship of it and the musical journey it took me on. Very well produced and put together.

Strange but actually really enjoyed it

Already heard this one nice to see it pop up 4.5 stars

Probably one of the best production jobs ever. AOR gold, etc. No original thoughts about this one I guess.

overstimulated turns ascended, i’m always surprised at just how popular a band as experimental and politically radical as pink floyd got, always a fun listen and it just gets better as the album continues good stuff

A journey !

Deserves points for managing to be a compelling album despite having a number of tracks that aren't conventionally-structured songs. On the other hand, at least two tracks are outliers that don't fit in as well as the rest: "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Money", the latter of which breaks from the other songs thematically and musically sounds like it wandered in from another album.

A little daddish. I liked the gig in the sky. Will isten to again

Money!

I’ve been meaning to listen to this for years, and it did not disappoint

It would be 4.5 stars, but I think they have better albums so I cant give it the highest rating.

Not something I listen to very often, but undeniably a great album.

I listened to this once years ago and wasn't impressed. This is the album that everyone claims is immaculate? Years later and now 450 albums into this challenge, I see it differently. I do like it, I think it's well done and flows really nicely.

It’s often said that this album is impossible to evaluate, such is it’s status in rock history. Of course this is not true; at the end of the day it’s just a record and you listen to it like you do any other. The biggest disservice to it is probably done by those things over hype it beyond reason. Drop the hype and listen honestly and it’s still an amazing record. Part of the achievement is leavening the prog excess with some decent pop songwriting (Money and Time are pop songs, despite the production and the odd freaky time signature). Is it perfect? No, mainly because of what are unquestionably filler tracks, On The Run and Any Colour You Like. Is it good? Yes, very. The trick is not too overanalyse it, and certainly to ditch they hype which doesn’t help the album and which it can’t live up to anyway. Just enjoy the accessible pop moments and immerse yourself in the soundscape; think of it as a sound sauna with great production.

Lo re mil escuché varias veces. Un gran álbum con el que no dejo de sorprenderme. Nota: 4.2

Incredible album. Duh

Great album. There are some good songs by themselves, but so much better when played in order.

Classic

Че пидоры чтоли 8/10

There is an undeniable perfection to this opus however its artistic grip is suffocating and creepy. My main reaction is not wonder but avoidance because I feel like “I get it”.

Never really fully got into the Floyd. Whilst undeniably good sonically, I think I prefer the backing vocal to the lead - The Great Gig In The Sky is amazing. The lyrics don't really resonate with me either plus this is to blame for far too much prog rock on this list

Perfect album to listen with closed eyes. It goes by very quickly.

Prime cut—album as Event. Best create a calendar hold; PF requests your undivided attention.

Angsty beautiful. Swings between deep drama and dark poetry

Revolution

This is a big one. Almost 200 albums into this and this is the first Pink Floyd slab of music I’ve really exposed myself to. Obviously I’ve heard many a Floyd song (look at me shortening band names), but I’ve never dove into a full length project of theirs. This is the one that I am not fully sure if it will hold up, or if it’s the album cover that dragged them this far. Hell, I had dark side of the moon pyjama pants when I was like 10. I had never heard this thing. I just thought prisms and light refraction was cool. With that tragic admission, let’s take a tab and try to forget I said that. Down the rabbit hole. Speak to Me - Perfectly dramatic intro. Like a portal to a mystical realm. Overhearing the last voices you’ll ever hear. Breathe (In the Air) - Errm what else am I supposed to breathe? Oh. Probably some sort of burned narcotic. You rascals. Excellent melody. I like this song a lot. On the Run - this sounds like the afterlife if it was made for a Sega console. Not a song per se, but the infinite black is palpable here. Time - I wonder if this song will be about Clocks. OH AHHH OH GOD AHHHH. I was almost asleep. I should’ve never chose to invoke squatters rights in this cavernous grandfather clock factory. They’re just so well made. It’s been years!! Is this another great song, or are my ears still ringing? The cacophonous blast of time measurement tools, to the cosmic soup, right into a laid back and meaningful rock performance that still maintains the darkened atmosphere. This is incredibly lush and that “ever year is getting shorter” refrain is so incredibly beautiful. The Great Gig in the Sky - The melodies are so haunting. I wouldn’t think that this bombast would fit in the cavernous realm that has been constructed thus far, but they do. This track has taken me out of it ever so slightly, but it holds up as an individual track and keeps the flow going. Especially as it fades. The angelic roadies need to pull up all that fuckin wire. We may be in the sky, but you still gotta plug those amps in. Money - The song that was the most accessible to young me, and one I can remember loading onto my iPod nano to impress my Dad, and to enjoy the rock n roll tones. Nostalgia colours this emergence, but it’s still an excellent rock song. A lot of energy, and a criticism of the money hoarding that has only gotten worse with time. Us and Them - Who is the Us and who is the Them? Sure I’m part of the us if I’m saying it, but I didn’t say it, they said it. But to them, they are us, and perhaps to them, I am them. This is a real head scratcher. I don’t know how to review this song. I like the saxophone. It feels very ethereal. Like you crest the horizon and feel the infinity of space stretch out before you. Hovering weightless. Any Colour You Like - Fuschia. No wait uhhh. PURPLE. yes!! When does my colour show up? I suppose we were due an extended guitar solo song. Brain Damage - Who are you calling damaged? I’ll have you know my doctor said I’ll make a full recovery from that time I accidentally got shipped airmail to Azerbaijan. Don’t ask. What a summer. I will say those crates are NOT handled with care. The inside of that thing looked like an explosion at a Smucker’s factory by the time I landed in Baku. Eclipse - The songs transition so seamlessly, that I can barely finish my inane ramblings before I am once again confronted. Wow. I made the mistake of looking at a lot of the online discourse surrounding this album beforehand and it made me feel ill. This album is so talked about, and so famous, that the discussion seems to be regarding anything but music. I’m very guilty of that in every review (including this one) but I do tend to listen to these albums for me. What do I think of them? How do the songs occur to me as that first listen? Then you get a raw (see half-baked) thought, and I move on. I will say that the eternal shared quest of 20-something white males to be the smartest guy in the room has ruined conversation around this album because it’s excellent, and I think the new “intellectual” take is that it’s overrated. This thing was enthralling at the start. The sounds are so lush and the atmosphere is all encompassing. I found myself visualizing space frequently and just tuning into each bizarre line of dialogue or beautiful melody. I was more distracted near the album close, as it felt the atmosphere was lifting. Almost as though we were ending our journey by crashing into the sun. Dark Side of the Moon takes somewhat mainstream rock and looks at it through this cosmic progressive lens that leaves us with something truly unique. Don your technicolour solar radiation blockers and breathe in the rarified air. We’re on the Dark Side of the Moon. Which moon? Brother, I don’t even know what galaxy we’re in. 4 HIGHLIGHTS: Breathe (In The Air), On the Run, Time, Money, Us and Them

In the past I listened to loose numbers but was never very impressed. After many stories that this album is so great I gave it another go from a high quality source, this time listening in one piece. I like it better now, although i dont consider it one of the best albums I have heard. Anyway, I’ll keep trying… four stars

I’ve tried several times, but I can’t bring myself to give this 5 stars. It’s a great album, of course, and there are many bangers on here. But this album also has On The Run (I hate that song). But the production is awesome, and the overall sound is incredible.

I don't like it as much as Wish You Were Here but still a pretty damn great album. Favorite: Breathe (In the Air), Brain Damage Would I listen to it again: Yes

jako dobro, shvaćam zašto je ljudima prejebeno itd.

I'm gonna be honest, I've never listened through a full Pink Floyd album before, I hadn't really considered myself a fan, past the one or two songs I knew. However, having sat through this whole thing now... it was one of those albums I wish I could experience again for the first time. I definitely see why it's considered one of the most influential albums of all time. Besides the songs I already knew, Us and Them was probably my favourite, that one felt like a religious experience.

du rock comme on en fait plus, a ecouter d'une traite ou rien

finally an album that deserves to be on this list 100%

Boomer music, sounds great for the 70s so the high rating on global reviews is justified. I recall listening to this album just because of its high praise 1-2 years ago for the first time, and I just thought it was neat for having the tracks to blend and mesh into the next. Personally its not my favorite, so I'll give it a 4 on production quality and notoriety.

Pretty cool

++*: The Great Gig in the Sky ++: Speak to Me, Breathe (In the Air), On the Run, Money, Brain Damage, Eclipse +: Time, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like 7,9/10

Really freakin good. Met or exceeded pretty much all of my expectations. 4 stars.

I listened to this like four times, and didn’t fully pay attention any of those times cause I had things to do. I’m a working woman, gosh. So I may have to come back to this to fully appreciate it but it seemed to me, really good but didn’t quite hit the level of hype I’ve heard on this album. I mean it’s the best selling record ever right? And I’m not sure I get that yet. Nevertheless it was a good album

absolutely obsessed with how each song transitions into the next the whole album feels like one long song in the best way. favorite song: time

Great album. Classic!!!

Really liked: 'Breathe (in the air)', 'Time', 'The Great Gig in the Sky', 'Brian Damage', 'Eclipse' Did not really like: none Interesting songs: 'Speak to me' I really like this album, there are some great songs in the album. I think that this album deserves all the love it got. My favourite song is 'The Great Gig in the Sky'. My mom and dad went to a cover band of Pink Floyd not too long ago. I already knew the album and some songs of it.

A classic for an effin reason. Gorgeous listen. Definitely not the first for me.

Great listen

Fuck... i finally understand why

"All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be” Hmmm… not much to say about *the* great existential music album, though I must say it didn't quite hit as hard as I expected given that I haven't listened to it in its entirety in years. Conservative 4-star it is (I will regret this in a few months).

Has more pop elements than i remembered. Some “experimental” sampling but way more “normal” than I recalled (or maybe my ideas of pushing limits in music has expanded?). Very lush and layered and melodic. Overall, enjoyable.

Det är vad det är. Men lite överskattad utöver brottarhitsen?

Fantastic album. There's a reason everyone likes Pink Floyd.

Really good album - probably my favourite ? 8/10

Probably a top 3 selling poster/t-shirt image, everyone knows this album even if they haven't heard it. Lots of interesting tracks that jam on for a while. Money is maybe the most recognizable track.

I love so much of this album and also think it smells its own farts too often as well which just stops it from being a five star album. If they tightened it up and rained it in for parts it would be an amazing album for me.

It’s an undeniable classic

I actually listened to this not long ago. What needs to be said

No need to listen....

nice vibe aber muess mer glaub eher als album lose wöll so experience style

Assortment.

A classic album. Not my favorite, but very good never the less.

Masterpiece

Excited to get this one! I listened to this album many years ago and really liked the songs "Time" and "Money" but outside of those two - they're the only songs I remembered. Listening through this masterpiece again, it still absolutely holds up. Pink Floyd seems to weave progressive rock and jazz elements flawlessly. What's even more crazy to me is this album's proximity in time to "Tommy" which I listened to about a week ago for the first time. This album was made 4 years later and seems to pack a lot more sounds and interesting studio techniques than I would've expected for 1973. I absolutely love the use of saxophones in this one! If I have one criticism it's that some of the tracks seem to be a little filler-esque and don't really do much to add to the totality of the album. That being said, this album absolutely holds up to the first time I heard it almost 10+ years ago. Standout tracks for me are "Time" and "Money again. Some other standouts to return to would be "Us and Them" and "Eclipse".

So yeah this album is great n all but it is just a bit overrated. On the run is a pointless track and actually quite annoying.

I like. best songs - great gig (obviously), brain damage(dev) 3.5

Interesting. Concept album.

Joe has threatened divorce over this rating but it’s just not a 5 for me. Very solid 4 though!

Standouts: • On the Run • Time • The Great Gig in the Sky • Any Colour You Like • Brain Damage • Eclipse

Firstly, I like Pink Floyd and I like this album, but is it one of the best of all time? The album is beautifully designed, there is a theme and the songs flow together seamlessly and collectively it elevates the quality of the album. It is another of those albums that is pretty timeless and I totally get why people rave about it. The music is solid and some of the songs are really good. The guitar work and the female backing vocals are especially good. On the downside there are no absolute killer tracks that you would expect from a top album and a couple are a let down. I think Pink Floyd have better songs and potentially better albums. Was toying with a 5 star but the use of the saxophone losses them a mark!

They replaced better songwriting with flashy accoutrements. Very good. Not their best. Rating: 8.75 Favorite Song: Time

Very original. Better than I gave it credit for. Big fan of "time"

Sit back and enjoy the ride. I don't know where you will end up, but the journey is the reason.

Some awesome songs, but a few which drag towards the end

I actually liked this quite a bit with the star being Us And Them. Chill album that I'd listen to again on a relaxing Sussday

looked up the summary of this one on wikipedia while listened since i knew most pink floyd albums have a good concept behind them. this one did not disappoint, and knowing the concept certainly helped! i would likely give this a 5 on a relisten.

I’m back bitches (probably just for one day, but still) I happened to listen to the whole album in the airport which was actually very fitting. Breathe (in the Air) made me melt, On the Run had sick airplane sounds, Money made using my delayed flight voucher at McDonald’s feel very cool, and The Great Gig in the Sky made the middle seat almost romanticizable. This album experience brought to me by Pink Floyd and easyJet was everything I could’ve hoped for—dreamy, fun, tens at some points and euphoric at others. All in all NICE VERY GOOD

the band, the myth, the legend gay triangle mitem grosse entrance ih mis lebe nachere längere absenz vo de busy streets vom rocky rock album klöpp - und was füren entrance dases da anelegged han mich nie gross mit de pinke brüedere usenandgsetzt welli als skorpion und underdog lover natürlich eh abneigig gege zu bekannti sache entwicklet han (kei gueti eigeschaft!) drum bini umso meh froh hani mir das stück mal chönne ih voller längi gönne und was sich scho nachem erste lose klar ih mim urin abzichnet hett isch de fakt das das album en grosse re-listen wert mitsich treit sogar en überraschend elektronische touch hani da vernoh und woni den gmerkt han das disc no. 2 eifach sgliche isch aber live (ih mine auge sehr skippable für en ihstiger) hani mich umso meh gfreut und mirs normale album (disc no. 1) namal gönnt drum gits vo mir min lieblings farbruhm für das schöne album -> C M Y K

The Dark Side Of The Moon is the 2nd Pink Floyd album generated in the two weeks I’ve been on this musical journey. I like it quite a bit better than The Wall. Greatest of all time is a bit far-fetched, but it’s up there as Pink Floyd’s best. Top 3 Tracks: 1. Brain Damage 2. Time 3. Us and Them 8/10

Somehow I have avoided hearing this album in full until now. It's a subtle masterpiece upon first listen. You can hear the care that went into the sessions and I really enjoyed the second listen. It's a bit TOO gentle for me to go 5 here, but absolutely a 4.5.

It’s a defining and seminal work of art, a true masterpiece that flows, peaks when it should and feels head and shoulders above its peers of 1973. It has a bit more saxophone than I’d wish for and Clare Torry’s vocals are… a lot. I can already feel myself going back and forth with my future self questioning if I was trying to be too objective or contrarian here but if I’m putting on a Floyd album, it’s more likely to be Wish You Were Here or The Wall, and I probably even prefer the less abstract concept of Animals. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest albums ever made by one of the most exceptional bands to walk the earth, but to me it’s sat in (the very top of) the second bracket of my personal favourites.

The word "iconic" is an adjective that describes something widely recognized and highly representative, often serving as a symbol or embodiment of a particular concept, style, or era. It goes beyond mere fame or notability, carrying a sense of cultural or historical significance that makes it immediately identifiable and memorable.

Abstract, almost feels like a precursor to modern techno thru 3 songs. “Time” spiked my anxiety Fuck Pink Floyd for that song. Second half carries the album to me. Feels innovative but very random/haphazard. The chaos of some of these songs combined with a structured album loop is interesting. After reading the description much of the nature makes sense. Great album, not seeing anything memorable enough to deserve some of the hype.

Not sure why, but Money just annoys me. Otherwise great album.

Given the time at which this came out, it gets credit. I like the use of sounds relevant to the respective song titles.

Of course I had to try it. The band denies it, but the infamous “Dark Side of the Rainbow” synced up with The Wizard of Oz is strangely aligned at multiple scenes. It’s like an art rock experimental experience…enhanced if done with recreational substances. But even without doing the rainbow experiment, the album is worthy and a classic for good reason. It just sucks you in from the first note to the last. Another one where it’s rating may be slightly lower since I like a few other Pink Floyd albums just a bit more, so I give it four out a five stars.

Favourite song: Us and Them Other favourites: - Time - The Great Gig in the Sky - Money - Brain Damage

It's a consistent album throughout -- maybe the best songs aren't quite great enough to earn a fifth star -- but groundbreaking.

Iconic album cover art, solid concept album.

8/10 Highlights: Time Us and Them Brain Damage/Eclipse

8/10 Highlights Time Brain Damage / Eclipse

Classic for a good reason, and incredible flow from song to song that captures a vibe no other album can do so easily.

B+ Speak To Me 3 Breathe In The Air 3 On The Run 3 Time 4 The Great Gig In The Sky 5 Money 4 Us And Them 4 Any Colour You Like 4 Brain Damage 4 Eclipse 5 One of the all-time greats. The Great Gig In the Sky and Eclipse are two of the best ever.

Actually thought this was super varied and interesting

Low 4 star, mainly bumped up to that to indicate that I like this better than The Wall. A little more to the point and the songs might be a little better.

This is chill. I think I might like Pink Floyd.

5/1089 - I understand how well this album is constructed and respect that it was state of the art back in the 70s with all the stereo effects/synthesizer manipulation, musique concréte techniques, and dark all-encompassing subject matter with reminders to "Breathe" (hence the return to the 1 to 4 soft-rock vamp throughout the album) but at the same time, I don't "get" the album. For whatever reason it hasn't clicked for me the same way Meddle or Wish You Were Here do. I still think this album is incredibly enjoyable and "Breathe," "Time," "Money," "Us and Them," are all fantastic songs. I'm not convinced by "Eclipse." It sounds like a perfectly logical ending song with the bombastic descending chords, all-encompassing lyrics, and the fade into the heartbeat. Maybe it's the lack of surprise? I'm not sure. For now, I think this is the best 4 star album.

classic. banger. etc.

Such is this record's omniscience that, despite never listening to it front to back before now, I recognised every individual track. As a tribute to technology in music, it stands apart. No surprise that Alan Parsons had a fair hand in the production. As music? Yes. It is atmospheric, spacious and trippy. It all proceeds with the stateliness, pomp and self-importance of a Lord Mayor's promenade, but it's Pink Floyd - warmth isn't on the menu. Kraftwerk sound more human. Still, it's got ballast, and oodles of fat neck pub bores think this is the greatest thing since beef Wellington, so there's that.

It has a slow start, but it picks up towards the end. Really nice album.

Live version was better than I expected

Classic. Not much more to say. Classic, classic rock.

Not Floyd’s biggest fan but listening to this album as an adult may have changed my mind.

This was perfect to listen to to drown out the sound of my neighbors taking out his frustrations with a hammer through construction. Better than his new baby I guess? In all seriousness I actually liked this one and would listen again.

Grat album with some amazing tracks on it. Breathe, Time, and Great Gig are all fantastic and "big" music

Fantastic album. Absolutely a classic

Six words: Laser light show, Hayden Planetarium, baked.

Are. You. Kidding. Not my favorite PF album but fully deserving of all the praise it's earned. 5 stars

Loooooooove

First listening to the whole album. Love Time and Money, but as an album I found it more boring than I thought I would.

A classic.

8/10 blah blah blah “greatest album” something something “wizard of oz” something something “who up floyding their pink” blah blah blah ok. You get to a point where you’ve seen this album cover as much as the McDonald’s symbol, and truthfully society is much better off having a piece of art this universal to be permanently etched into the canon of music. I can’t pretend that they aren’t letting their nuts hang on this album, it only makes sense that an album like this would maintain such a big reputation. We can talk about how maybe its acclaim is overblown or that they have better albums, but I ultimately can’t bring it down too much. Go to a Walmart and if you’re not seeing this on some zoomer’s shirt, a boomer’s shirt, a shirt on the clothes aisle, on 5 posters, on a cashier’s water bottle, enough vinyl copies to stack straight to heaven in the electronics aisle, you’re living on another planet, for a 50 year old “overrated” album, pretty impressive. Anyone have weird the urge to watch Paul Blart Mall Cop 2?

Wish you were Wish you were here

I am so sorry ... I know this is one of the most iconic albums of all time and I was really excited to listen to it, honest, and I now I am supposed to excitedly give it 5 stars ... But ... best I can do is a 4

This is the sort of album I wanted to stumble across on this list. I have had about as much exposure to Pink Floyd as I have the actual dark side of the moon. (The actual moon, not my anus- which I've found I can expose myself to plenty with two vanity mirrors and a strong stomach), and so I didn't have any real expectations going into this. I thought the concept was engaging, and the way the album meandered, flowed and jolted through different emotions was alright by me, and very different to what I expected. Again the absence of lyrics allowed for a more introspective listen- which was made all the more fun with the psychedelic and atmospheric tones running through the album. 4 stars, despite not even knowing if I really enjoyed the album, or just found the novelty weirdly captivating. Anyway, enough stalling, I'm off to have another look at my hemorrhoids and think about where exactly my life is going wrong.

It's Pink Floyd. 👍

Great album with amazing engineering.

I must say, I was a bit of a hater on this one. While I still don’t think it’s as good or as interesting as “The Wall” or “Wish You Were Here”, I forgot how great these songs were and how well the album is sequenced.

This one was new to me - gaping hole in the musical education. Not as drop dead amazing as I thought it was going to be, but pretty good still.

I accidentally listened to the wall because I wanted to watch the movie version to have my first listen. I then listened to this over the wizard of oz, which was fun. I don't entirely get the hype. It's good music. That's for sure. But it's also just a vague anti-government message that can seemingly be applied to any ideology.

Classic

If this had been asked of me 45 years ago an easy 5 stars. 10 years ago a more grudging 5 stars. Today it strikes me as a little slow, a little plodding and maybe a bit pretentious. Favourite song; Eclipse. 4 stars

Uma construção poética maravilhosa como poucos saberiam fazer. Muito bom ver o álbum crescendo conforme vai passando o tempo ouvido.

I like DSOTM to the Mona Lisa hanging in the Louvre. Often held up as the magnum opus of the entire industry. And it's really good for sure, but I think the prestige that is placed on it, and entire wall devoted to it, lights perfectly positioned, the number of people jostling to get the perfect look at it, adds to the value and praise placed on it. When you strip all of that away and look at it in the cold light of day, it for sure diminishes in stature slightly. The good points are it is a really solid album. Some cracking songs. Breathe and Time being too absolute stand outs, and I absolutely love that they ended Time by going to a Breathe reprise. Never heard another artist brave enough to end a banger by stitching another verse from the previous banger into it. And I wouldn't mind keeping it like that. Now, the narrative points. There's not many actual 'real' songs on the album. A fair chunk of it is made up of segways. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't give the album as much to come back to as other all time classics. The fact the best song, Time, is started by 1 minute of an honestly annoying intro, that makes it impossible to put in to any communal playlists without jarring everyone listening. The fact that some tracks that sound great upon first listen, eg Money and GGITS, do get tired after 50 listens, nevermind the 100s 5* album should be able to last. All in all, very good album, but not an all time great.

Damn good album.

Excellent. I loved how so much of the album flowed from one song to another, wonderful vibes, very atmospheric

Kinda hard to come up with an original thought about this having heard so much about it for so long. Overall, I liked this more than the other Pink Floyd stuff, and would maybe ranking this higher had I jumped on the bandwagon and become very familiar with it.

Piosenki poprzeplatane plumkaniem i płynącą wodą. Tym nie niej ciekjawe przezycie. 4/5

nostalgin var sjuk, har nt lyssnat på väldigt länge

If it’s nice play it twice. Have never listened end to end, I think that is the best way to enjoy it.

Classic. I know this album deserves 5 stars, but I always forget about the few weird tracks that are just sound effects. I was also stone sober when I listened to it. So, 4.

Well, the album cover is one of the most iconic covers there is. Almost everyone knows it. That said, the songs are nice to hear, but nothing that really stood out.

Weirdly enough I think it's cool but I don't really like that many songs on here. The ones I do like are admittedly a little boring. 'Breathe' is a vibe but it's not that moving of a song. 'Time' has great lyrics but outside of that, it's not my cup of tea. 'Great Gig in the Sky' is not at all a great song on its own, and it kind of ruins the flow. 'Brain Damage' was weirdly relatable, which I find to be both funny and concerning. The transitions from one song to another were fantastic, and I feel that is what makes this album truly a must-hear.

I do find this preferable to Wish You Were Here which I found... middling. Breathe is beautiful, and once the saxophone hit on Us and Them I knew it would be my favorite of the bunch. Some songs lose me though, Money especially. I'm sure there was novelty in the sampling of a cash register at the time, but it's lost on me and frankly it felt out of place. There is a wonderful review on RYM from a user who experienced this album for the first time while deployed in Vietnam. Imagining that setting gave me a much deeper appreciation. I read much about co-founder syd barrett and it lead me to their earlier discography, which feels more raw and truthfully more interesting. 3.5/5

Great album

Classic album. Really no notes.

Good music

Ah, the classic Pink Floyd album. Classic cover. Classic prog rock. Two classic singles: "Money" and "Us and Them". It’s as good as I remember as a kid and I’m not even a Pink Floyd fan.

I prefer "Wish You Were Here," but I decided not to go against almost 16000 people on the site. It's indeed great, just not the best.

I don't get the wow feeling but there is certainly a lot to enjoy on this album.

A classic that has not fully listened through. I'm guessing would be better stones, or at least not listening to first thing in the morning.

bardzo dobry album, nietypowy, lecz wciagajacy. przejscia pomiedzy poszczegolnymi piosenkami zrobily na mnie duze wrazenie.

B side is flawless. Smoke a J for track one, settle in and enjoy the ride.

Better then i remembered. I'd still need to be in the right mood to put it on.

I gasped when I saw this - this is exactly the kind of unquestionably classic album I wanted to listen to from this list. I really liked the first Pink Floyd album I got on this list - The Wall - which I gave a 4, but this was better. This was only my first listen, however, and it didn't connect with me as much as other new-to-me albums have (which admittedly have mainly been jazz, soul, and funk), so I don't feel comfortable giving it a 5. But it's a truly stellar album and I will definitely be listening to this again.

Wouldn't be particularly close to the top of my list, but is good

It's immediately evident that Pink Floyd are brilliant at soundscape building, however the first three songs on the track make me feel as though I've fallen asleep on the toilet, only to be suddenly awoken by the rude ringing of alarm bells. Post-awakening I am carried onwards and upwards by a wave of amazing guitar and vocals, hitting the aural thermals that elevate this album into five star territory. By Money, you remember why 67 year old men stretch this iconic album cover over their pot bellies, and why alternative 15 year olds still buy the t-shirts from HMV for that faux-vintage feel. Sadly the album lost me towards the end, dipping back down to earth and back down to 4 stars.

Not my favourite Pink Floyd

in my early years as a music listener, the beatles set my appreciation for conceptualizing albums that are eclectic and "messy", and pink floyd set my appreciation for conceptualizing albums that are clearly unified wholes. the LP format in general as itself a Method Of Expression is probably floyd's most consistent strength in their peak period and certainly one of the central ways in which they built their Legend...the music is un-flashy and un-show-offy esp compared to the genre prog rock landscape, so a lot of what Blows Peoples Minds really is the Structure, which is something to think about and is also p personally vindicating lol. i tbh dont have a lot to say ab this...it was nice to revisit! and nice to make a little more peace with my past self. but atm this is pretty in the realm of Pure Functionality for me...i deeply admire the flow and the sonic palate but where Wish You Were Here was still surprisingly stirring, this washed over me in an enjoyable but slightly cold way. could be at least in part a function of mood ill admit, and it is hard to not feel Something at "you missed the starting gun" and the cathartic bursts of volume in great gig/us and them/brain damage. i tbh wonder if the wall will be a bit more exciting to me whenever i get to it...some theatrics and melodrama might bridge the gap a lil more for me

Only missing 5 stars because The Wall is slightly better, but this is still one of the greatest albums ever

not as prolific as I remember

Jag ser varför folk älskar det här albumet, men jag tycker det är lite överhypat

This album is something everyone should experience. The lyrics are perfect and relevant even after 50 years, futuristic sound and transition between every song are amazing. One bad thing for me are the filler songs where there is just music like there may be some deep Message behind it but im simple human and even the sounds are amazing i dont enjoy it as much as when they sing. Overall 7.5/10

Obviously a bonafide classic. I think it perfectly balances accessibility with the space rock and prog rock tropes. Truly epic at points and truly catchy throughout. 8/10

Wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did!!!

an unparalleled musical experience. truly one of the most important albums ever recorded. i don't think id seek out listening to it regularly. very nearly 5 stars

going into this project, i was not a big fan of pink floyd, but i had never really gotten the chance. early on on this journey, i was given 'wish you were here' and was a little bit blown away. this album, however, is one that i was already a little familiar with - and how could you not be? it's one of the most famous albums of all time. but because of its notoriety, i had written it off and was always annoyed by the songs from it as they came up on the radio. well, what did i think about it this go-around? i liked it. i don't know that i think it is as good as it's always made out to be, but it's good. it gets a little proggy (like, Yes proggy) at points, but is a pretty fun, straightforward album. hands down my favorite moment of the album is the closing combo of 'brain damage' into 'eclipse' but there's nothing truly bad here either. one thing i will say is that i'm not entirely fond of roger waters' melody style and that's true here too. a lot of times his melodies are sort of sing-songy in a way that i find a little incessant. but yeah, good, solid album.

Pretty great. I've never been in love with them though.

03/10/24 For a classic album, it didn't hit me like I thought it would.

Heartbeats, literal epic soundscapes, and choral accompaniments I now cannot detach from the Dune 2 trailer.

Love the punk synth vibe

Liked this quite a bit more than I thought I would! Really cohesive and modern! But guys.. I was watching Oz the Great and Powerful when I put this album on…. And I couldn’t hear the damn movie! 🤦‍♂️

Never really enjoyed this on previous listens but this time it really hit! This project is forcing me to reevaluate my grumpiness!

I liked it better than i thought i would! like the ambient-y chill vibes that we fall into sometimes

Very smooth and psychedelic. Awesome album. Notable tracks: Breathe, Us and Them, Money

Solid prog-rock album, 4/5. Time and Us and Them were my favourite tracks. I will now be writing about Dire Straits. I think Brothers in Arms is the album on the list that I regret the most undermarking. It is excellent. So Far Away sets the tone for the rest of the album, lovely vocals and instrumentation. Money for Nothing is great - jazzy, and builds to crescendos. Walk of Life is pretty good, of course, and I Love Your Latest Trick, definitely my favourite song on the album. Unlike many other albums, I don't think the quality fades - and my hatred for long songs dissipates with Brothers in Arms. What an incredible record.

Solid album. Very theatrical.

Terrific album and soundscape. Not too much singing but poignant

This was really good - finally I’ve listened to Pink Floyd! Time is 5/5

brother... speak to me- i believe this heart beat also plays at the end of this album? so its cyclical. 6 breathe in the air- I FORGOT THE INTRO SOUNDS LIKE SPONGEBOB SCREAMING. 7. im not stoned enough to listen to this album. on the run- 5 time- 6 or 7. no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. the great gig in the sky- 7. this song reminds me of tiktok slide shows. money- 4 or 5 us and them- 4 or 5 any color you like- 5 brain damage- 7 or 8 eclipse- 9 unfortunately, the album is good. does it deserve the hype? i dont know but i do know that the meat riding is crazy

Never had listened to this album in order, from top to bottom, although I had listened to many of the songs individually a thousand times. Tells an interesting story, and is very descriptive when consumed in order.

I’ve gone back and forth on this album for years. It’s good, but sometimes feels a little slow for me. 3.5/5 Might listen again

Grand classic.

Great vibes and good classics

already listened to it, my favourite of theirs

I find the first half famous without being all that good, then the second half of the album just whips all the way throughout. Us and Them, Brain Damage, Eclipse. C'mon, man. Incredible. I wish the first half didn't verge on annoying.

p302. 1973. 4 stars. The only hippies you can trust. Does meander a bit though.

I don't know if I believe everything everyone says about this album but it's definitely very good. Probably just about breaks into the 4s.

Great album to chill and listen to, bit slow but flows perfectly

Pretty cool that half the time this album just goes beep boop beep boop wuh wuh wuh wuh wuh and humans were like this will be the album we all own

Speak to Me 4 Breathe (In the Air) 4.2 On the Run 4 Time 4.5 The Great Gig in the Sky 4.6 Money 4.4 Us and Them 4.5 Any Colour You Like 4.3 Brain Damage 4.4 Eclipse 4.4 Score: 4.33

Хороший альбом который мне чуть-чуть надоел, но я не думаю что это переоцененная пластинка просто хороший альбом

Ah yes, the first album so many teenagers listened to while high. Or listened to it when it was synced up The Wizard of Oz...while high. Not as mind blowing now as I thought it was when I was a kid, compared to newer psych rock I've heard in the last 10 years. But I appreciate the great sound engineering done for the album, where you can hear each distinct instrument on their own and hear how they all combine so well in every track.

While I did not have the chance to listen to this album under the influence, this album is stacked. The whole thing flows together so well and really does take you on a journey. This was my first time actually sitting down and listening to it all in one go and it was well worth it.

The biggest album on the list so far! Iconic. From the cover of the album to the last song. We should definitely listen to this one through again together at a party or something again.

This is the first album we’ve had where I need to be wearing noise-cancelling headphones and just disassociate for 45 minutes. I wasn’t in the right environment for this one, so maybe I’d rank it higher than a four but it’s a solid four.

It's honestly nuts that the 1-minute intro to this album, consisting primarily of cash register noises, a droning generator, and a heart-beat/kick-drum metronome has over one hundred million streams on Spotify. It proves how holistic and iconic this album is, separate from its specific songs. 'The Dark Side of the Moon' is about the album experience, which makes sense, Pink Floyd has always had a knack for conceptually driven albums. It's to the point where it feels like every song before 'Time' is an interlude. It's the main reason why I'm more partial toward a 'Wish You Were Here' or 'Animals', where each song is so defined and secluded. From my taking also, I feel like this album's concept is far looser, and simultaneously not too eagerly indulged in. While the interlude and gimmicky moments might've been impressive and unique at the time, they only ended up bogging the album down for me. The "full" songs here though, holy, they're as good as Pink Floyd songs get. The three-piece 'Time', 'Great Gig in the Sky', and 'Money' are bluesier and more soulful than what I'd typically associate the band with. The former's existential leanings and mid-way explosive guitar barrage never fail to bring me unmatched joy. The 'Money' bassline, no matter how many times I've heard it, still fucks. 'Us and Them' is such a powerful song that keeps giving with these meaty, luscious harmonies sprouting throughout the song. It's a tear-jerker with a message tackling the unwavering nationalism and close-mindedness of global conflict opinion. Following it is 'Any Colour You Like', which is probably my favorite 'interlude' moment here - especially the messy, yet flourishing synth melodies that kick the track off. Going back to the idea of "song streams", has there ever been another band or musician in history who built an identity out of making "longer than usual" songs, yet still managed to achieve this unmatched level of popularity? It speaks to their quality. Everyone can love Pink Floyd, like everyone, there's not a single soul who can listen to this music and not like it to some degree - it's, historically, a popular music constant.

A classic. Second best Pink Floyd album. Many good songs.

Really good, not exception and perhaps the hype was too much. But really good. Would have been groundbreaking at its time.

did not expect to like it as much as i did seeing as this was the first time i listened to anything pink floyd!!

That was nice. I wish I had been there for the cultural phenomenon as I don't get all the hype, but it was still a good listen.

A Classic.

My second Pink Floyd this week! I actually ended up listening to both this and "The Wall" back to back because I hadn't gotten to "The Wall" yet from earlier this week and had already been planning on knocking that one out today. This is the better of the two albums. Much shorter, tighter, and more intentional. I like the prog rock elements a lot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pink Floyd is legend. The second album in my 1001 journey was Pink Floyd, and here we are again as I near 100. This is an iconic album with iconic songs. I enjoyed the album overall and will be coming back for more.

Rating: 8.5/10 Great album overall. The production and performances from all of the members is amazing, the atmosphere and sound on this album is truly unique. The standout songs are incredible and iconic like Time, Money, and Us and Them. My issue with this album is some of the other songs: On the Run should not be 4 minutes long, Any Colour You Like is forgettable compared to everything else, and Eclipse feels like an underwhelming closer. Although great, this album falls short to the band's best work (Wish You Were Here and Animals) which I think are more ambitious and interesting than this. Favorite songs: Breathe (In the Air), Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them. Worst song: On the Run.

Not my favorite PF album, but definitely a classic.

89/100

Great album front to back. Such interesting recording. Can definitely hear the influence on Radiohead - love the atmospheric stuff pulsed by more straight rock songs like time and money. Can see myself listening to this again sometime, but less relisten value only because I would need to pay more attention than just listen passively.

Have to be in the mood for this one but it is hard not to acknowledge its greatness. 5 stars if I was on the psychedelics.

They have 3 other albums better than this, yet this is the one people praise to the moon and back, pun somewhat intended. Still a great album, I love every song except Money. That one's obviously here to have a radio single, and it ruins the flow of the album. The conundrum, though, is the fact that the concept of the album demands a song about money. So I guess it can keep its lame boomer radio rock track, as long as I get to keep Us and Them.

It turns out sometimes, when everyone says something is great, they're actually right

It's a great album, of course it is, but I don't listen to it any more. Or any Pink Floyd TBH. I don't feel they've aged as well as some of their contemporaries.

Alltaf rugluð

Believe it or not it’s good

I know I'm supposed to think this is the greatest thing ever, but I just don't. It's good though. 4/5

If you’ve never watched the version of Wizard of Oz that is synced to this album, go do it.

Overall really good but the sounds at the start would get boring with multiple listens

had some great songs but was just weird at times

obviously a pretty great album. not as good as animals or wish you were here imo but its pretty easy to see why its considered one of the best. strong 8/10

Great listen while stuck in Boston traffic! Seemed liked they never took a breather in the live portion of the album- impressive.

Classic

What a great album for letting the mind slip away from whatever earthly nonsense is in one's head. I saw PF live once, and that was enough. This is not the driving rhythm that I like for live music. It is music for headphones. I use Floyd to set a tone or mood. Maybe 3 or four times a year.

i have a long history with this one already

Art, but not for every day

Classic. Mind stretching. One of the all time greats that my dad had in his collection. A worthy listen.

Come on.. it’s Dark Side of the Moon. No review needed, but I do hope Animals is on this list

I mean how can you not have a special place in your heart for this album. Sixth grade me syncing this up to The Wizard of Oz before I had even smoked pot…wow. Memories. Pink Floyd definitely has a reputation, but I mean come on. It’s good rock and roll. And any band that writes a song in 5/4 gets immediate points in my book. Sorry not sorry. I like this album.

Solid album. Favourites- breathe, money, time,

Nothing is more of a classic album.

There's a lot of weird on the album that makes it a hard listen sometimes, but clearly a classic.

Classic Pink Floyd. I didn't listen to this one until the mid nineties. It holds a special place in the annals of music history, and I appreciate its influence. I have to be in a mood to vibe the whole album start to finish. My favorite is US and Them.

It's a classic for a reason.

It's crazy that saying this album is anything but perfect is controversial, but if anything I think it speaks to the overall quality of Pink Floyd's music. This is absolutely worth listening to all the way through. Sometimes albums feel like random compilations of songs, and this is the complete opposite. Every track flows into the next, there's a good balance of ordinary and out-there music, and the production is second to none. All that said, there's personally not enough to satiate me here; the album seems to end before its ideas have fully concluded. Maybe that's an artistic decision, but if it wasn't intended, there's something missing. Again, I'd listen over and over, but for me this album could be improved, it's just hard to articulate how.

I've listened to this a hundred times, I'm a Floyd fan, seen them a few times. "There is no dark side of the moon really...." 4*

I almost feel a little bad that I am giving this album a 4. I can see on paper why it should be a 5 and totally understand why it is for so many. However I decided I would only be giving 5's to albums that really resonated with me and has no (or minimal) skips. Dark Side of the Moon is unquestionably good, but either because of where I am currently in life or just my taste I had trouble really connecting with most of it. It's one I would definitely consider revisiting though. A few songs definitely stood out to me (Money, Any Color You Like, Brain Damage, Eclipse). The others, while I acknowledge as interesting or good, just didn't make me feel much other than a detached interest that appreciated the construction of the music. I will also say the duo of Brain Damage and Eclipse as a finisher is very powerful and so perfect it almost made me up it to a 5.

One of the greatest bands out of the 70’s, 80’s. One of their best albums. Every song is good. Rarity for a album of any kind

Like some of the songs (Breathe, etc). Would like to give it another go before adding songs to my playlist. Overall, not bad, but not up my alley.

An interesting listen and I can see why it was groundbreaking.

Atmospheric sounds with great solos from Gilmour. Great Gig in the sky is amazing and there are a few other classics. Flows very well overall.

Well, Its my second Pink Floyd album after The Wall and that album is The Dark Side Of The Moon. And i will definitely say, This album is quite a bit better than The Wall. Everything about this album feels more progressive and unique than The Wall was. I'm not saying that The Wall didn't have its progressive and unique moments because it did, I just feel this album has more of them. I also found the songs here to be quite a bit more memorable here (especially when you consider that there is less of them). It is not perfect, some of the song transitions could have been better, but beyond that, This album really is a great album and is currently my favorite Pink Floyd album. Best Song: Any Colour You Like Worst Song: Speak To Me

When I was younger I woud've rated it higher, but luckily I'm not that depressed anymore.

fucking amazing

Best Song: The Great Gig in the Sky. I have always loved the emotion of this track. It feels like a vocal Maggot Brain. I only wish that it was bookended by tracks that were more complimentary. Worst Song: Any Colour You Like. It's just the most uninteresting on the album, dominated by a guitar solo that's just okay. Overall: Expansive and creative. I wish that it were a touch more cohesive as a singular concept, and that they dove more into experimental tracks like The Great Gig in the Sky, but it remains a fun and interesting album nonetheless.

Often regarded as the greatest album experience of all time. Whilst I don’t think it’s the best ever, let alone the best by Pink Floyd, I do think it is absolutely sublime. Some may say that songs like On The Run are filler, and indeed they blend with the rest of the soundscape. But this is not at all a negative, as the aforementioned soundscape is utterly transfixing. Truly phenomenal.

Really not a Pink Floyd fan but I'll say that The Dark Side Of The Moon is the best piece of work of theirs I've heard. It has a really interesting sound throughout, has creativity in abundance, creates a remarkably atmospheric experience, and doesn't actually go on too long at all which is incredible for Pink Floyd. Didn't think much of the first four tracks but it then gets going with The Great Gig In The Sky, Money and Us And Them, which are all really good but the third of those is brilliant tbf. Stuff that has too many sci-fi influenced sounds like Any Colour You Like really don't do it for me though, just a stylistic choice I hate and also I don't think works so well even in the context of this album. I think it gets a 4, which I didn't think I'd be saying coming into this.

The second Pink Floyd album and the second one I've enjoyed. Probably liked it slightly less than Wish You Were Here, but the highs (Time and Great Gig In The Sky) were very high.

Pretty definitively no-skips. Little replayability imo - the tracks are better within the context of the whole project

Yeh good album, some weird bits in there but it works 8/10

This is definitely an album. I never really gave this the time of day because it was labelled as prog rock, which made me think of Jeremy Clarkson type characters with beer guts hanging over Ill-fitting stonewashed denim, tucked in shirts and leather waistcoats. I liked the Asian Dub Foundation version, and I felt that gave me a sense of what the album was all about, while still being cool. Having listened to it in full (twice now), I totally get why this is on so many lists of definitive albums. It’s very complete, conceptual and probably quite groundbreaking for its time, in terms of the production.

It's pretty damn good, but not even pink Floyd can live up to the hype this album holds in its 'legendary' status. I wish someone had told me it influenced cowboy beebops soundtrack alot, I might have listened sooner. Favorite track was the great gig in the sky

Jaja aber nicht mein lieblings

Definitely a solid "album" in the sense that all the songs flow together extremely well. The album is just a bit too slow for my tastes.

This album still resonates today. I cannot believe I listened when I was in highs school and when I taught high school. Teachers, leave those kids alone! Ironically, I listened as the world waits for the solar eclipse.

Love the songs but too much random stuff in between, on the run freaks me out lol, breathe in the air fav track, tho time and mone, also bang, so does the great gig om the sky, us and them

Is it true about Dark Side and The Wizard of Oz? If so, was it on purpose? So freakin’ cool. These guys are amazingly talented, but I find their music so sad. Money is a complete banger, but the rest of the songs are depressing. I have to be missing something. I’m sure someone will fill me in at some point… Low 4

Have I heard this album before? Yes Highlights: Breathe, Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage, Eclipse Rating: 9.5/10 I’m a big Pink Floyd fan and I own this one on vinyl, always love a chance to spin it. Some of the moments on this album really send a shiver down my spine; the solos on ‘Time’ and ‘Money’, the vocals on ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ and the climax of ‘Eclipse’.

i get why they all say that about this album! it is quite good!
