Eh, punk.
Teenage Kicks plus some others.

Enjoying some of the rock aspects, but the punk vibes often take away what bits I might otherwise like. Unfortunately it makes many songs feel samey and this retracts from lyrics or feelings I might like normally.
I mean, okay. It's fine. Solid punk album. One of (too) many solid punk albums on this list.

Jag ville verkligen inte tycka om detta. Och för det mesta hade jag rätt (såklart, för jag känner mig själv efter 26 år på denna planet). Men ibland, när jag zoonade ut och fokuserade på annat, insåg jag att. ja. det är ändå lite bra.
Intolerably boring. Obviously, I'm not the biggest fan of punk. I've heard more unpleasant noises, but never such boring noise. By the second half of the album, I couldn't even get through most of the songs. The Ramones at least had the decency to impart enough "oomph" that you'd have something to listen to, love it or hate it.
I can see why this is on this list. The vocals feel very 70s rock, as do a lot of the instruments, but there are pockets of the chaos that comes with 80s rock. I won't listen to this album again and it's not my cup of tea, but I respect it.
This is nice proto-pop-punk, pretty accessible to the masses with decent energy and catchy melodies. These guys remind me of a blend of the Buzzcocks and the Ramones. Lead singer Feargal Sharkey went on to do more commercial material with the Assembly and Yazoo. Google "Never Never" by The Assembly if you want to hear how far he strayed from his punk roots. But the Undertones straddles the angry sound of the Sex Pistols and the more accessible pop punk that was yet to come.
Enjoyable early punk rock record without a whole lot to say. Seemed derivative, but I'm no expert. The single was catchy.

I can hear their influences in a lot of the later New Wave bands. The songs are easy enough to listen to, but nothing that will stay me.
Anodino. Solo destaca Teenage Kicks.
Mostly it sounds like a not so good, poppier version of early The Clash.

Nothing too special here. It seems the importance of this album comes from being a early punk rock album. The album has td moments of angsty lyrics and hard guitar and drum sections. The choruses on a few songs felt a bit annoying and repetitive. The album was short but with 16 songs it felt like rapid change. 4.8/10

most of this album just merged into one song. I didn’t even notice when the next song came on. I like ‘Teenage Kicks’ but that’s pretty much it. the second half had a bit of range but I’m still bored. 2.5
Pretty average, nothing out of the ordinary
Very much a poor mans sex pistols. The Irish were never very good at copying the English. I mean they are ok I guess, but Michael Barrymore was ok and he ended up with dead gays in his pool. I may have a doll hand but I don’t kill the gays in my pool

Before my time, so I missed this era of three chords and 2 minute songs. I'm told it's all about the being there, and the attitude. To me it sounds, like young lads with limited musical skills, having fun, And no more. They seem to have the uncanny ability to write 90 second songs, that outstay their welcome. Pink Floyd it ain't.
Teenage kicks is good the rest is boring
Its not bad, but again not great, its just a simple London rock band which has nice songs but many of them seem repetitive and mundane,
Not really for me, although it did grow on me. The lyrics / motifs were short but pretty repetitive, and I'm usually not fond of the fast-drums fast-riffs style of punk rock. Would go to a live show with friends though.
I really hate punk, so of course I didn't like this one. But for punk it wasn't all too bad. I guess it didn't sound as angry and chaotic as most punk. More pop-punk than punk-rock as well. So anyway, 2 stars is a good rating for a punk album from me.

As short as this album is there’s such a sameness to so many of these songs. (Especially lyrically; good Christ, if there was a drinking game to the word “girl” you’d be legally dead before side B…) I really liked some of the guitar tones though and can see the appeal to a teenager at the time of release. Unfortunately, every time the singer broke out that goat boy vibrato I just wanted to rip my headphones off and give them to the homeless. Just cannot deal with that. Why did the rest of the band let that slide? Could no one have said, “Hey, you sure you want to sing “Jump Boys” like that? You know you’re going to have to do that every time we play this. Every single time.” Somebody should have stopped him. Anyway, is this pop punk? Genuinely curious to know what the hardcore punkers thought of this band at the time.
Pretty average. Production isn't that great, the nasally singing is quite annoying, the instrumentals feel hollow

like a bad version of the buzzcocks. unenjoyable. irritating. too many songs. generic. basically the same song in slightly different formats. that being said true confessions was my favorite
I listened to it once. That was more than enough. There's no imagination in this - as bland as can be.

I think that the only new thing this band brought to the passive, boring, pop punk formula of the late 70's was not finishing their songs.

After looking at the album cover, my first thought was "here we go again with another British never-were that was forgotten in the dust bin of music history for a reason." After hearing the first track, and the disgusting lyrics about a family; my second thought was that the first thought was very much confirmed. Every song is the same boring punk power chord arrangement. This is not exemplifying anything important or new from the period that anyone needs to hear before death. I applaud them for discussing the personal instead of The Troubles, but gee whiz, do it with more creativity than power 3 chords. The Police, The Pretenders, Blondie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Joy Division, Joe Jackson. They all did it better. None of The Undertones belong on this list. They just sound like another bandwagon punk band from 1979.

Of all the self-titled debut albums released in 1979, I prefer "The B-52's," which I happened to draw from the list just yesterday. This is a fine album, but it suffers in the comparison. Favorite track: "Get Over You," maybe

Punk is not my thing, but happy overproduced sing-along punk is the worst. This what I imagine a punk album by the Monkees or the Partridge Family would sound like. It’s very annoying and earns a 1.
What I'm starting to realize is I really don't like this genre very much
Hard to get past the overly nasal affected vibrato of the vocals...plus the solidly amateur musicianship...this works out to a loud clunk for me...

Man i hates this album. Only like 1-2 tracks i enjoyed. Just seems so corny and “drake and josh.”
This bleary-eyed listener thought the album cover was a piece of carved flint for the duration of the first three tracks. Didn’t take anything from the music.

This did nothing to change my opinion of late-70s British punk. Not a fan. Nothing here for me. 1 star.
After a year or so of receiving these albums I need to hear before I die, a handful have been actually great albums. Sadly, the majority of recommendations are not standout works at all—rather mediocre or outright poor albums are the norm, it seems.

Until the lyrics started kinda thought it was Blondi . Nothing too exciting here. Maybe over “there” it was a big deal.
The very first song is about incest?! Uh…no.
Nothing really stood out for me here. Wasn't a single song where I looked up to see what the song title was so I could listen again later.
Couldn't get through all of it. Feels like you're listening to the same generic punk rock song over and over again. 26 songs of that... nein danke. 2/10
