Reviews (page 11 of 12)
Started off strong with Spellbound, then devolved into a tuneless, caterwauling mess. I appreciate their influence on other bands I like much better, but they are not for me.
Meh.
Monitor was the only track I enjoyed. Lacking depth and was eventually a grating listen. Got more distorted, more psychedelic sounding and lost the beat the longer the album went on. Lacking vocal midrange but I guess that’s post punk hallmark…
Will definitely check out their other albums but didn't care for this one. It was too brooding and found a lot of their songs outstayed their welcome. I did think 'sin in my heart" was a tune though.
naja, ist halt tlw. punk
Another punk British band - we need more variety!
Was kind of interesting at times but I expected to find more in it. Gave it 3 listens but didn't have anything stand out enough.
There is potential here. It is just off of clicking for me. So close. The production isn't doing much for me and the track lengths can be too long.
Decent
Not for me
Usually I like dark haired brooding chicks signing, but this one, im not really sure about...
Nothing special
honestly, not impressed. Kinda tinny and whiney.
Did not enjoy at all!
I listened to the original release (nine tracks), not the later release with three extra tracks. Siouxsie has a good singing voice for this genre. The songs are ok, although none of the tracks seemed memorable for me. When this album was released in 1981, punk rock was just becoming popular here, so if you were reviewing the album at that time it may have been fresh and different. But it is 2025 and to me it is dated and mundane.
**An ok album, many tracks sound alike (same beat, different words)
Many energetic performances here. But. it’s too much of the same thing — and that thing is angsty-anger. They have a particular sound and it’s a lot.
- war alrighty, aber hat mich jetzt auch nicht umgehauen
Honestly ... eh. It's weird, because I know that a huge number of musicians - including musicians I like - cite SATB as an inspiration, but this was a very meh album to me.
Meh
Its Okay, probably need more listens to truly process it all. Nothing pops out to me.
Cool tom beats 2.5
I like the idea of Siouxsie much more than I actually like the output
One of those albums I can't remember much of the next day.
Definitely not for me
Didn't fully click with me. I got the influence it had the specific gothic mood it created which was unique for the time but it felt a bit messy and the formula was improved greatly over time
The perfect music to play from a cassette while hanging at the mall on a Friday with the besties
Probably not for me. I could not appreciate the instrumental choices which was possibly the biggest factor for not being able to even complete this.
hurry for belarus. they are here. they are here now. you know what happens next.
zamn thats mid
First track was okay but I couldn't sustain interest in this alas.
Good voice, bit same-sounding across the album though. The album didn't light any fires in me.
Another longer album with an interesting album cover! Spellbound feels like I’m riding a speeding train - what an interesting song. Into the Light was alright. Arabian Knights was weird and funky but I kinda vibed with it. Halloween wasn’t really my vibe and neither was Monitor. Night Shift was an emo rock song which is not something I listen to typically, and for good reason. #depressedafterhearingit Sin in my Heart was more of the rock I’m used to and the quiet electric guitar in the background was sick. Head Cut and Voodoo Dolly were weirdddd, not my vibe. Voodoo Dolly was especially unsettling… Felt similarly about Spellbound and Arabian Knights 12” versions as the first songs, though I loved the percussion added to Spellbound in this version a lot. Fireworks was alright. Overall this album had a kooky vibe and it didn’t really hit for me. Thus I dub thee 2/5 stars. Fave song: Spellbound 12” Version Least fave song: Voodoo Dolly
I can see why it might have been quite influential but not really my cup of tea
Not my cup of tea sadly. I like Siouxsies stage looks though...
Bisschen anstrengend. Würde ich mir nicht nochmal anhören.
Too emo. From an era that should just be left to rot in its grave
Not really for me.
No, boring
Liked the first 2 songs, then same same
I don’t see any reason why this is a must listen album
80er Punk, etwas zu elektrisch. Liegt so zwischen 2 und 3 Sternen.
Meh
That's not my taste in music.
Nja....
Shrug
I heard it while I was at work sitting in front of my desk. I don't know how to explain it, but it made me want to kill myself more than I'm used to. Not my cup of tea, it sounds gloomy and sad but shallow and pretentious. Didn't even pay attention to the lyrics, but I think, with titles such as "into the light" and "voodoo dolly", combined with the overall gloomy vibe, you don't need to pay attention to know what they're talking about. Didn't like it, won't give it another try. La canción Halloween me dio alto cáncer
I kept waiting for something to grab me on this album, but it never happened. Everything here blends together in a haze of reverb and post-punk moodiness, but there’s just not much substance under the style. The songs drag, the melodies feel recycled, and the whole thing comes off as more try-hard than groundbreaking. If you’re really into the brooding, gothic vibe, maybe you’ll find something to like. For me, it was just repetitive and dull. I could barely remember a single track after it ended.
Langweilig.
Just OK. Probably would not listen to them again tbh
I didn't really care about this one. It was just kinda boring background music.
S'okay. The instrumentals were great, but I couldn't get behind the vocals. It felt at times too repetitive between tracks.
5/10 One of those “I respect it but don’t like it” records Punky gothy rock that certainly was an influence on grunge 10 years later. Well produced, well sung. Got a vibe going. But that vibe was almost all that it had - this began to feel like variations on a very small theme, and the vocal style got one-note. Not for me. Best: Voodoo Dolly
I remeber the singles but this was very Toyah and gothy. I guess it probably influenced The Cure and the Cult.
ehhhhh
BOGUS
I feel very conflicted about this album. It definitely had moments of excellence, but is really hampered by inconsistent song quality and very shaky production on most of the songs. Dark and brooding proto nu-metal is mixed with tinny and shrill production that only leaves me slightly disappointed this wasn't better. Top tracks: Monitor, Night Shift
Weird chittering instrumental, screaming vocals. Not my thing.
not my style, but do appreciate the trivia around using Ebow in Sin in My Heart...
Eh
Not my jam but some moments I could almost enjoy.
While I can understand the historical importance of punk, that doesn't justify how ridiculously often it appears on this list. And albums like this are just about the most archetypal examples of why it shouldn't. Siouxsie's vocals aren't very appealing to begin with, and they sound even worse when double-tracked. It's gives off a very unprofessional and messy feel. McGeoch's guitar playing is similarly inaccessible, mostly avoiding any particularly good hooks or solos, and instead playing experimentally in a way that hasn't aged well since the early 80s. I'm very surprised that these were the two musical aspects most praised by critics, because they bring the music from decent, energetic rock down to near-unlistenable dreck. I do feel that I'm giving Siouxsie And The Banshees a little too much flak here. Some of the songs are genuinely pretty great – namely, the two opening tracks, Spellbound and Into The Light (the latter of which should've been the second single instead of Arabian Knights). Spellbound was an immediate hit for me and the rest of the album never quite reached the same energy. Great drumming and bass playing here too. Monitor is also a solid track, containing a simple yet elegant chord progression and a prog-esque textural journey. But the remaining six tracks... man, they're just not engaging at all. Really makes you wonder what was going on in Dimery's head. 2/5 Key tracks: Into The Light, Monitor, Spellbound
I really appreciate music of this era (and atmosphere). That being said, this one didn't grab me as much as others have. 2/5
trivial creep rock, her voice makes every song sound the same
I found the song writing to be mixed, to the extent that I don't want to listen to the album all the way through again. The better songs are decent and I'd happily return to them, although won't be adding to any particular playlists.
Cool to hear this sound this early, but in the context of “does one need to hear this before they die?” No. There are better examples from when this sound was further developed.
Pretty good
I saved Arabian Nights
Too much rhythm; not enough melody.
Post punk, lidt gothic
Couldn’t get into it
Growing up, all the cool alt kids were into this. I’d never heard a song of theirs before, but when I saw this pop up I was happy. This is the sort of thing I wanted to learn from this project. A band I would never listen to but for this. I will not be listening to them again. I’m old. This was just noise.
I can see the appeal. But it’s not my favorite!
To put it bluntly, I was not impressed by this album. The not-quite punk, not-quite rock genre with an early '80s feel is decidedly not for me. There's not much to dissect here, it was more or less annoying to listen to.
Gear: Hifiman Arya Artwork: 🤔🔎🤢 Mix (2006 Remaster): 📉🤷♂️🤏 Musik: 🕸️🚫😕 Wertung: 🗿🗿(🗿)/5
The guitars here were very interesting, and the vocals feel very representative of the era in which the album was released. Overall though, this does not leave much of a lasting impression. 2/5
I don't like Souxsie's vocal delivery, it grates after a while. It's not really 'singing', it's more a sort of controlled shouting. Some tracks are very good, but I can't stand to listen to a whole album.
Well it’s definitely post-punk. I was gonna give this a 3 until I realized it took like five tries for me to drag myself through this album.
Started out with grungey sound that I was enjoying then lost me towards the end with what sounds like exhaustion by the end of it
Not good really. I enjoyed a little bit but that's about it.
Probably not fair this came after disintegration on my list but still didn't do anything for me
Bit boring
Nichts besonderes.
Not really for me this to be honest. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Totally nonplussed by it.
Bit shouty
No
I wanted to like it but I kind of just didn’t. There were bits where I thought this is almost good and it would be turn into some of the worst singing and music playing I’ve heard. 4/10
Didn't care for it.
Nothing I would play again.
kind of interesting, glad it was on the list and worth a listen, but probably not going to listen again.
I’d give this a 2.5. I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it either. I don’t think there’s anything innovative here, but I could see why people appreciate it in its time.
Well, it's similar as with Blur by Blur. You know a song, never had the chance (or simply never thought about) listening to more songs or an album by this band. You expect something you like. And you are let down. Generally the band has some turns, liked the song "Monitor" but did not like anything else on the album.
I gave Susy a try, but no.
It feels like this would belong to a genre that fits me well, but after listening through the record I can't name any songs that I liked. I wasn't y cup of tea at all somehow. Phaser-like effects on... basically anything, are usually something I am extremely fond of. But here I find it extremely overused on the guitar. I am not sure that I like the singer either, too much wailing and moaning. An interesting thing I found after skimming through it again is that the first few seconds of the opening riffs are usually pretty interesting, but then they loose it for me when everything else is added. Good examples would be 'Night Shift', 'Sin In My Heart', and 'Arabian Knights'. Anyways, didn't like it, it'll have to be a 2 tops.
Different
2/5. Almost like Sonic Youth with the female singer. Thus album did not really resonate with me. Just didn’t click.
Rock, Pop, NewWave, 1981 -> 2
2.5 A little gothy, but I think that’s mostly because of her voice. I enjoyed the beginning of the album but felt it got a little tired at the end. Not the worst thing I’ve heard by far.
Okay gothic-punk album. 2/5
Regular
All in all this album was o.k. I can see how it pioneered certain indie esthetics down the road. However, in the grand scheme of things, it seems like this will migrate off of this list as many of the tracks are underwhelming or forgettable. 2/5
80s Rock similar to Blondie/Pat Benetar. Not my favorite style.
Ok.
⭐️⭐️very Florence & the Machine with a goth vibe. It was ok
Grand
Meh
Not a fan of punk!
The music sounded good for what it was, this type of music just isn't for me.
Okay punk rock
Guitar music very representative of the 80's in what I at the time called "college music". This album is not for me though.
Unique, but not my style.
Was excited to see this one pop up but didn’t think very much of it. Nothing special and this exact thing has been done better by others.
sad xmas :(
One of the best Beatles albums.
Echoey punk, not too harsh
This band goes hard.
It's pretty much exactly as you'd expect and didn't do much for me. I'd maybe buy them a tuner and tell them to knock off the deliberately slightly out of tune nonsense.
Meh. Favorite track: Fireworks
So much MEH. Btw yesterday I was confused and reviewed the album from the day before again. The punk one was ok. I wasn't quite in a punk mood
Started off well, but just got repetitive.
Sucking on dat Juju 4/10
They have some high-energy tunes that I liked, but their range is very limited. After a while, it all started to sound the same.
Wasn't my thing.
Post-punk, goth rock from the 80's. Nothing particularly attractive, same monotonous style throughout the entire album.
Not bad, not really my vibe tho
I can't take this much Siouxsie in one sitting. It's too discordant.
It was fine. Nothing stuck with me, don't need to return to this.
Boring. Not bad, the sound is solid, but the Israeli Witches did it better.
I've listened to this album a lot today and really tried to get it because I think it has a really cool sound. I can understand why this music is really important and significant and I know some people love the anxious atmosphere this creates but I just don't enjoy that! Musically it is really good and the sound is very cool, I really like her bold unusual vocals, but just overall I don't like how it makes me feel and that blocks me from experiencing the lyrics and the message.
Well, that S(io)ux
Not bad, not great. No need to relisten 2.4
Monitor is my favorite song I’ve heard from them. I know they’re influential, but I’m not that enthralled.
Decent. Not my favourite, but not terrible.
Not into it.
Woman singing with guitar, bit too conceptual for me, I don't like her singing and random guitar in the background. 2/3***
1/8, 13%
mixed feelings with this album. LOVE the instrumental/background sounds but thoroughly dislike the lyrics//the sound of the singer. the constant repetition of the lyrics jumbled with the off-putting sound of the singer gives a very weird experience while listening to it that im not too sure i enjoy. also thinks this album would be so much better w transitions. ‼️‼️ that was NOT arabian nights ‼️‼️ fav song : night shift
I just don't get it. After seeing all the 4 and 5 star reviews, I'm honestly a bit surprised. There's this dissonance in the double-tracked vocals that I just don't like at all. It's got a decent attitude and beat at least.
kivaa rokkia, ehdoton postpunkkiklassikko välittömästi, sillä niitä ei montaa ole heh... naisvokalisti aina mukava kuulla rokbändin keulassa( 6 jalkaa btw) respektfullia kakkosta lävähtää. ilonaihe, ei surun. (tässä kohtaa paluu könöseen saliin heh, tulevaisuuden lukijoille...) six in my heart
Spellbound and Arabian knights are good. Other than that, mid.
Didn’t like most songs, as not into that genre. Sounds similar to Florence and the Machine. When mixes started replaying I thought I liked it since I recognised it (Spellbound / Arabian Nights).
background fight night music?
It's not exactly a summer smash of an album. This takes me back to dull winter nights and trying to find some escape from all the mainstream bullshit of the time. But sometimes you need a little joy. Especially on a Monday morning. This dragged tbh. Spellbound has some great guitar work, but it wasn't enough to give me the boost I wanted. Something of a timepiece.
Meh
Didn’t really grab me
Too much like everything else back then
Every indie female fronted band (and most indie bands, for that matter) from the 2000s to now owe a lot to Siouxsie. But, I'm not a massive fan, so I see the value of them on the list, but for me, it's still only a 2 star.
Eerie and cool guitar work and band interplay, but with a useless vocalist making a mess of every single song. A very dated sounding album too. The 80's was fucking weird.
God I hate post-punk
This album was ok, but nothing really going on. I do like the song monitor as it creates a real loud and exciting feel to this album which is what i expected for the rest of the project.
сначала показался интересным но потом всё-таки какая тоска, нет, не для меня
Ja had wel zen toffe muziekskes maar ik ga het hierbij laten denk ik no snelle revisit
Almost back to back here. Still a lot of noise but there are probably a lot of influential components.
Meh, nothing really stood out here for me.
Oh no. Post Punk/Goth.... Like Joy Division? Fuck. That is exactly what this noise is, except not so depressing, and with a singer who can actually sing. This music sounds like the B-52's if they became depressed goths. It is very dark and brooding. Siouxsie Sioux does have a very good voice, it's just the dark, dank mood that this type of music spins (kind of like Morrissey in that they just need to cheer the fuck up). This is probably good music, it just really did nothing in the way of connecting with me today. This album is definately stacked heavier on the front half. The back half descends into this trashy goth vibe. Voodoo Dolly is literally 7 minutes of fucking noise and nonsense lyrics. Seriously? Favourite songs: Spellbound, Arabian Knights, Halloween Least favourite songs: Voodoo Dolly, Night Shift, Monitor 2/5
Lo escucharia de vuelta, pero no me gusto mucho. La voz es un poco inbancable
Could not get into that at all
2/16- Driving to penn hills
This wasn't bad, but seemed to drag on after a while. Like many albums I didn't get much time with it and wish I could give it another spin before having to move on. I feel as though I was tiring of Siouxie's voice as the album went on. I don't see this as something I would listen to regularly. 1 - bad 2 - average 3 - good 4 - great 5 - outstanding
Not really my genre, I guess.
Not a top pick for my tastes. Could only listen once.
It was exactly as expected. Suck. 2/5.
Eh
Decent but wouldn’t listen again.
- If I closed my eyes and you told me that Willow Smith was singing some of these songs I’d believe it
Goth rock from the 80’s. Different but not my favorite
Eh fine
Decent. 2.5/5
Wat een gejengel, je wordt het snel zat.
Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: yeah it’s decent, quite a distinctive style and work of synths mixed with great vocals on a lot of tracks here Favourite song: Track 1 - Spellbound
Repetitive. Sounds like one long song.
Just not at all into this sound. It's annoyingly noisy. I want to turn it off.
Aye, it's a novel and unique sound, but would I listen twice? Nah. Just reminds me of how bland some of the music of the era was
I Can appreciate this album as being good for what it is but also have a hard time listening to it for very long. Just not my preferred style of music.
Was hoping for better. It was OK.
A bit repetitive with not much grunt
One of mams favourite. I didn't get it...
Not my favorite
Since (post) punk isn't my thing, I guess I shouldn't rate this album...
Another reviewer mentioned that if you like the Siouxsie sound you'll love this album, but if not, this album will be grating. I'm totally in the latter camp. In the early 80s when punk was rapidly fading the post-punk/goths bands came out of the woodwork - The Cure, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy.... etc The only one that caught my attention back then was the Cure. Flash forward 40 years and their vocal stylings, drum and guitar work all sound so dated today, their sound was very trendy at the time, but not made to last, all except for the Cure which sounds surprisingly fresh and listenable today. I wasn't a fan of this band back then and I'm still not a fan today.
2/5 ok 4/5 arabian knights
Moody, dramatic goth rock. I didn’t totally dislike it but it didn’t do much for me. Reminded me of seeing an opening act for a show, waiting for the headliner. Afterwards you think, ‘That was kinda cool’ but then you never listen to that band again. “Monitor” is a cool one. Sounds way ahead of its time.
The first track, "Spellbound" is cool. I like how it pretty quickly grabs you and gives you this energetic guitar and percussion driven piece. It's a fun opener track for an album. There isn't much that blows me away though. This album came out in 1981 and the sound is pretty early ~1970's ish. I think the lead singer has a cool, slightly shrieking voice but I don't really think it's anything too amazing. The production really leaves a lot to be desired. In the second song, "Into The Light", there's some great weird synth-like electric guitar parts that come in a little before the 1 minute mark but the production sounds really like flimsy? on these instruments. I listened to the remastered & expanded version of the album and it sounded pretty dull production-wise. Sort of flat and uninspiring. I wonder if the remaster was done only a short time after, maybe a few years? Some remastered albums I hear are done decades after the initial release and end up sounding much more modern than this one did.
Eh, it was OK
I like this band. I like their sound. This was a good listen, but there wasn't anything that jumped out at me.
Haven't been able to get into post punk much and this album was ok. Nothing really grabbed me. A few of the guitar riffs were really cool but overall I'm not coming back to this album.
Started strong but fell off about half way in 2/5
So much of the music was tuneless, but I liked the eeriness of some of the songs.
Not for me.
Neither then nor now am I able to connect to this music. I don’t know exactly why, but it always made my think of saws.
5/15/2022 - ALBUM #109 Today's Album: "Juju" by Siouxsie and the Banshees - This album is really sort of just okay to me. I really like the general style of it, the vocals work well for what they're trying to do, the production feels decent for a group like this, and the songwriting overall is pretty decent. However, it just does not really catch my attention very much outside of having a pretty cool 80s psychedelia aesthetic to it. The highlights on this record really do show how talented the group is and are quite enjoyable, but there are some really stinky tracks on here filling out the track list like the fairly awful Halloween and the generally boring Head Cut. Overall, the vibe of this record doesn't really fit well into a casual listening scene and it doesn't give me enough to enjoy an in depth listen either, so it just feels like this kind of stale experience that's trying to be more than it is. Maybe just give the highlights of this album a listen because the most of it rubbed me the wrong way and the highlights just barely made it worth giving it a play at all. Highlights: Arabian Knights, Monitor Score: 5.5/10 2 good tracks and a lot of hazy and uninteresting garbage
The music is interesting. I don’t care for Siouxsie’s voice, especially affects she uses. I disliked her voice less on a second skim through the album though still not much.
I loved these a long time ago, now, they sound like a long time ago.
Not a big fan of punk music but this album was alright. Definitely need to give it another listen
Intéressant mais relou à la longue.
comment se motiver à écouter un ablum de country après la série maudite de cet après-midi
Turhan kasaria omaan korvaan, ei jatkoon.
Boring, generic sounding punk
2022.01.12
Dark, goth-rock
2 1/2
Nothing special.
This isn't my personal favorite, but it is cool to think that this is ~40 years old. It doesn't sound that old to me.
15th December 2021 Listened while getting ready to go out for dinner with all the wedding crew. I liked bits of this, the grander bits rather than the grungier bits. Know mark kermode is a big fan which is where I first heard of them.
Just because this Dimery character was unfortunate enough to be born in the early-mid sixties, means I have to listen to a fucking post punk album at least once a week. Discordant cat wailing. The instrumentation was decent though.
Wrapping up this week with an unknown UK band. Confirming that last week was in fact an anomaly that I pray visits us more frequently than Haley's Comet. This wasn't a bad album, and I feel like I keep saying that this week. "Not a bad album but not great". And then mentioning that those shouldn't be words used when discussing top albums of all time. I did save the first song on here, the singer reminded me of Rush a bit with hints of Led Zepplin but the music was sort of bland. The album cover is cool but I won't see it ever again.
I didn't HATE it, but please don't make me listen to them again.
Not for me.
Saved Prior: Spellbound Off Rip: Monitor, Sin In My Heart Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: It's embarrassing when I have to admit that an album that means a lot to a lot of musicians I greatly admire did not click for me. In order to protect my musical ego I'll therefore say that idk what's wrong with THEM this is meh.
This was alright not my favourite
Not my cup o’tee
It started off fine; the first song wasn't that bad. However, as the album progressed, it just got more annoying. The instruments weren't that bad generally, but the singer's voice and the odd effects they use within the songs got grating since they were more artsy than enjoyable. Favorite track: Spellbound
New one. Not my cup of tea. Boring.
Sorry, Mohit. Iz ass. // Favs: – Score: Decent 2
não gostei
Female vocals punctuate this Art-rock album as well as the unique guitar chords and minor embrace of electronics. It was a little grating outside of the main singles.
busy punky-goth with an 80s production feel, all a bit serious - can't imagine when i would ever listen to it
Promising start then rapidly became boring
These were ok but I didn't get a lot from them
Ik vind het behoorlijk chaotisch!
Meh
Hvorfor er ikke Into the Light mer "kjent"? Det er jo den desiderte beste låta på dette albumet. Ellers kan det jo bli litt i overkant flatt og gotisk for min del.
OK in general, but difficult to listed to more than several songs in a row
Pat Benatar, but punk
Not really a fan.
80s synth pop
Nothing stuck with me
not for me
2.5/5. Uptempo punk rock with stringy electric guitar and epic vocals with lots of tension. You can imagine every band member with their eyes closed *feeling* all of their hooks + solos. I'd happily participate in this gothy moshpit if I find myself in 1981, but too stressful a listen otherwise.
Really boring :/
5/10, Seinfeld effect, ahead of its time, but done better by it's progenitors. Some standout tracks, but not enough to save it
Fun, loud, but not really my style. I liked the oldies sound to it, but the album kind of blurred together.
Her vocal quality wasn’t my favorite and she put too many effects on it. I also thought the chords were clashy.
I had never heard of Siouxsie and The Banshees before, and so coming into this I was excited for this to be something new and interesting, perhaps opening me up to new musical avenues not yet gone down. This album was a pain to sit through. Its the only album that I've felt a real pull to just turn it off halfway through, and upon finishing I have very little good things to say about it. Instrumental wise, they are obviously very talented, and their was some cool ideas being conveyed in each song, but I felt no effort was made to expand on any of these concepts past the first stage. It felt similar to Zombie by Fela Kuti, except that the monotony in that project is at least broken up by interesting solo pieces, soaring backup vocals, and Fela own unique and fun vocals that kept me interested. This album has none of that. But if this album were all instrumental, I wouldn't feel nearly as strongly as I do about my dislike for this. but sadly it is not. Siouxie's vocal performances on this record are downright god awful in my opinion. The lyrics are stale, uninteresting, and evoke no sense of emotional resonance from me. Her lack of interesting melodic timbre does nothing to justify her incessant wailing throughout every single song, which evokes the feeling of babies crying. Ugly babies. 1/5.
Not my cup of tea Didn't like the singer or instrumental
Not my vibe at all
Não curti. Não sou chegado a post punk britânico, com essa sonoridade meio reverberada da guitarra, sei lá. Não me apetece tanto.
Not even close to being their best and should not be considered for this list
They can’t keep getting away with this
Never heard. That's OK and I'll keep this.
3/10 - not the worst punk music I've heard but definitely not first choice on the record player
Spellbound, spellbound, spellbound, spellbound, spellbound… Spellbound! Yuck. I didn’t enjoy a minute of this.
Hasn't aged well.
Got worse the further I got.
Ugh. Couldn’t stand most of this.
meh
Could not get into it at all.
Boring.
Just weird
no hear
Très rythmé, très rock, avec une batterie assez rapide, une voix insupportable, type gothique, post punk. Je n’ai pas du tout apprécié cet album. Groupe post punk, percussions saccadées.
A band I have no familiarity with whatsoever. This album didn't really do much to convince me to change that. Couldn't really find anything worth latching onto here.
Didn’t really like
Couldn't get into it. Each song sounded the same, and at least twice per song I debated if I should just turn it off. Not my cup of tea
Boring drivel not worth listening to
DNF Really not a goth rock fan. Had a hard time finding any connection to this one TOP 3: N/A
Ur kidding me
Painful to listen!
i cant listen to it
Lowkey might be a bad opinion after another but I didn’t like this album either. I don’t love this genre of music like the cure. This album was annoying
Nicht mein Genre
Not for me
admito que não é mt o meu estilo, mas até me impressionou com o começo de spellbound. dps disso achei meio monótono, a cantora n fez mt a minha vibe. ia dar um 2, mas as ultimas 2 musicas até me incomodaram.
Didn't like
I'm starting to think that someone is messing with me. Somebody thinks this is a great album? I bet even Siouxsie doesn't think this is a good album.
Bad
This album gives me hope for the future - I don’t think even AI would make this music and think it should go out to the world.
1/5
hella mid. monotone and every song sounds like a generic '80s song.

Awful
Niet mijn ding
dogshit
Absolute garbage. Every song sounded the same, and not in a good way.
Trick or treat baby. This was not pleasant to listen to.
Hiç beğenmedim amk yeni nesil kabile şarkısı gibi 0 verebiliyosam vericem
This was quite a boring album sorry
So annoying
Terrible
The Cure vibes bare mere kedeligt. Er ikke imponeret, synes ikke der er noget specielt/originalt over det tbh.
Not for me at all.
I wasn't a fan of the lead singer's voice and was disappointed with the instrumentals. A lot of bands during this time sounded similar and Siouxsie and The Banshees failed to stand out or really differentiate themselves (at least in this album.) Very reminiscent of Kate Bush.
meh
Previous review of the Banshees still applies: atonal and screech noise.
unnerving
Fuck this shit
Not. a. fan.
Ich mag die Stimme nicht.
ts lwk ass.
Annoyingly noisy and screamy Post Punk with dissonant, double-tracked vocals and weird chittering instrumentals.
Not for me. 1/5
Meh
I know I'm going to be the outlier here, but this album has cemented for me that I just really really don't like 80's vocals. I had the same issues with Kate Bush's Hounds of Love when I did this album-a-day trial last time. Loved the instrumentals for the most part. There are certain tracks where I can get behind it, too. For Kate Bush it was Running Up That Hill, here it's Monitor. But on the whole? I will just have to be glad you all liked it more. Fav Track: Monitor Least Fav Track (by a mile): Voodoo Dolly
