A bit dreary. No bangers, other than Lovesong.
Nah, not for me thanks. Musically ok, lyrically and vocally sub-par. Very 80s, which is not a compliment. Far from the worst album on the list (still Nico) but a long way from the best.
Ehhh. Ok. Not my type of music but maybe if your in the mood. Dark room needed.
I have listened to a few songs by The Cure before, so I was expecting to really enjoy the album. Just felt very uninspired/bored by a lot of this album. Some songs feel way too long, not much variation in general. First two in particular were hard to listen to without wanting to skip. I feel like by the first verse I basically know the entire song, not sure if it's something I would want to actively listen to again. The Cure will probably remain a band I just listen to a few singles I like for. Favourite Tracks: Lullaby, Fascination Street
Lacking in direction and focus compared to 'Pornography' before it, this LP unfortunately succumbs to the ostentatious, blown-out orchestration that was common to 80s albums as the decade came to a close. At its best when it opts for the tight, chorus-drenched guitar, this album instead opts for grandiose synth numbers that feel bloated and tend to stretch track lengths well beyond their logical run times. Chop 30 minutes out and you have a solid Cure album, but in its current form 'Disintegration' is much too long and melodramatic to leave a mark.
Oddly mellow sound. Not bad as background music until you realize how depressing the lyrics are. LONG tracks. Poetic nature of lyrics is interesting, just wish it had a different focus.
Not somthing great. 80's vibe, kinda boring overall
I will admit that I was not excited when this album came up. I may be biased but I really dislike this genre and vocal styleand the cure is no different. I gave this album a listen but its just not music that I can enjoy. To each their own.
I feel like the entire album sounded pretty much the same. A little too whiny for my tastes to be honest.
The cure have a couple of good songs but this album is dull as.
Boring
Can't remember everyone's opinion but I think we rated about a 2.
Why the heck is everyone so whiny?? Maybe I just have trouble with this genre in general…
It's not really for me, I don't mind this kind of emo pop stuff but I find the songwriting on this album very dull. It's just uninspired generic chord progressions
Started boring and ended boring. Not a fan unless I want to fall asleep. The only good/great song is Lullaby. I understand why The Cure is an influential band but, they are not my cup of tea. Meh.
-Ayyo they really titled "Plainsong" accurately cuz this song do be plain -"Disintegration" is like one tick up on the intensity scale -Overall it's like not bad and it is rock but it is mega boring and the songs all just sit in the same musical area that isn't very interesting to me
Not my cup of tea
Better than the other Cure albums on this list. Why are there so many Cure albums on this list!!
Ei kelvannut kyllä lääkkeeksi mihinkään. Lullabyn ja parin muun biisin lyhyiden hetkien ansiosta välttää ykkösen. Tylsää maalailua 95%
Есть интересные музыкальные находки, но не голосовые.
Meh
Eh
There's nothing wrong with this but I do not vibe with it.
gaaah glödme :S 2a va?
Única música boa foi Lovesong
Don't like The Cure - just sounds sludgy, a bit like his eyeliner
Esse album salvou a minha vida 3 vezes. Estava quase indo me matar e dai a musica acabava.
02/15 - Yesterday I worked on adding wall coverings behind all process equipment that has a loose hose attachment, adding the Train B Buffer Prep Platform Room into the model and adding corner guards around the Train B area. I also tagged all the items listed above in the elevations. I thought this album was okay. I am quite peculiar about the voice behind the song and this was just not doing it for me, although I though there were some really awesome beats.

Bueno... Todo el mundo entendido de la música dicen que son buenos. Para mi, tienen alguna canción chula, pero poco más
I'm not sold on this album or the band's sound. Yea its tone goes out of its way to be the most over the top sad thing you could think of. Bleak, washed out guitar tones makes the whole thing feel like a gloomy rainy day in March or November. Fascination Street is actually my speed though. Growling bass fills a more harsh and aggressive soundscape. Yep this is teenage angst turned up to 11.
Robert Smith is a great guitar player, so many cool guitar licks and synth parts to the album, but it’s too long, becomes boring, repetitive, and I don’t think life is as bad as this guy is selling it. Especially considering he was probably a rich rocker at the time of this album’s release. Not my type of rock overall.
eh, too whiney
Way to bring down the mood
I like the pop stuff but had to turn this off, too drab and moody
The cure sucks and this album did nothing to change my mind.
2.5/5. Found it kind of boring, not necessarily bad or worse than other albums I've rated higher, but just not very compelling music for the most part personally. Standout Tracks: Lovesong, Prayers for Rain, Disintegration
not a single memorizable melody. poor songwriting. good for a sleep playlist or just some background noise
Ugly tranny
boring
Horrible
I kept waiting for something to happen.
No, the original was better!!!
The album covers looks so cool but the music is so boring.
Me pareció extraño, valoro eso, pero me aburrió mucho. Le faltó una vuelta de tuerca, algo que impacte. No traduje las letras, lo haré.
Tried really hard to see anything in it but everything blended together into one homogenous drone and for the longer songs I was begging them to either do something or just end. The music and the vocals are competing to see which one can be more nothing. Lovesong makes a little playful attempt at being listenable but it can't drag out the one good idea for a whole 3 minute song. You would think the title song would at least be good but when they should be belting out the crescendo of the song the singer just sounds bored and whiny. Pray for the WW2 veterans who were being psychologically tortured by watching their daughters gag over this guy's shitty joker cosplay and had to endure his music on top of it. (He's fine as hell in Lovecats though I love that song)
nah
Disappointing album. I always enjoyed the music at the beginning of each track, but it would outstanding it's welcome and the vocals never dit it for me. Probably 1.5.
When I clicked on the apple music link... 3 hours 36 minutes. Nah... not going there. Might cure my insomnia.
What a slog. The songs are all half light and airy instrumental and half with dull uninspired vocals. I don't even know if I can tell the difference between the tracks. And why are these tracks so damn long? 7, 8, 9 minutes? You could condense them all down to 2 and still lose nothing. I'd heard Friday I'm In Love and Tainted Love before, so I was curious to hear their other songs. Well, not anymore. Best song: Prayers For Rain
Did not want to listen to this. Track 1 - Plainsong - not bad, still not absolutely gripping me Track 2 - I hate this type of singing, perhaps hate is too strong a word but I just dont find any of these kinds of songs interesting. It is not bad per se but not my liking Track 7 - Fascination Street - better than the rest so far I still maintain I am the type to like ALL music, all genres and everything but this for me is not a MUST listen to. It is fine. That is how I see it.
I was surprised not to know any of the songs. And not very fond of what I heard. Not for me.
All instrumental. Not my thing. All songs were so long
I alr know this album and i hate it. I hate songs like this that are now used to perform some sort of personal autenticity by people that lack it.
Very lazy songwriting. Pick a sound and drone on it. Maybe the lyrics were good, but honestly I couldn't be bothered listening to them.
Not a fan
This album features loads of plodding, overly-long numbers played in a lazy generic-Cure style that barely wavers from track to track, as though the band had calcified by this point. Nearly every song has the identical chord-change-unfailingly-on-the-downbeat structure that makes listening nothing less than tedious. Robert Smith wanted to make some kind of monumental statement with this record and ended up with a bombastic, overblown snoozefest that lacks any of the humor or spark of the band's more upbeat work.
The Cure is just not for me. 1 Star
Getting The Cure two days in a row was something. Certainly cured me from the desire to kick back and relax with an album listen. I gave up on the 3rd track. It's never going to be my vibe. Repetitive effects, samey-samey vocals, and not a singular moment of inspiration on the guitar or drums. Goths apparently do not riff. I read the wiki and went back to listen to Lovesong as the most popular track. Yes, it's a bit of a jam. It's not boring like the rest of the mood, someone add synth tracks, and it's very pop-y. It's also the shortest track in this album, like 25% shorter than the other tracks on average. So you can imagine rest of the album is a pure slog. On the very next track, I gave up again.
This might be sacrileigous but I found this mind-numbingly boring and DNF'd
Thought I was going to hate this and actually only dislike it. It's all a bit dull teen angst from the 80s with far too many monotonous instrumentals.
This is the 141st album I’m rating. Right now I want to listen to some Fiona Apple because I know I'm going to hate this. Adding to my Playlist - Plainsong and Lovesong. Not Adding to my Playlist - Pictures of You, Closedown, Last Dance, Lullaby, Fascination Street, Prayers for Rain, The Same Deep Water as You, Disintegration, Homesick, and Untitled. Plainsong - Nevermind. This shit's really good. I'm sorry to The Cure. Pictures of You - Nevermind. This is shit. I hate The Cure. All in all I liked 2/12 songs. Pretty shit album. I did not need 71 minutes of this.
EN lo personal nunca he sido muy fan de The Cure. Este sería like mi 4to intento to get into them 1. Muy dreamy for me. 2. Not bad, not catchy either. 3. Gay-ish, didn't like it. 4. Gayer, not enjoying. 5. Muy su época lo 80's-y de la guitarra con efectos largos. Not enjoying tho', skipping el ending. 6. Lullaby. Me gustó, nice beat, whispered lyrics. 7. Tuvo nice, pretty solid. Nothing too amazing. 8. Mid, not a huge fan. 9. Zzzzzzzz 10. Como chilla Smith, diojmío... No, que ladilla. 11. Homesick. Ladillísima. 12. Maloso. Solo me gustó el ending tipo Jagermeister Pie de Beck.
Not that good!
honeslty couldn't make it through. like individual tracks but not my bag
straight ass
I went into this album with an open mind, trying to enjoy it because this is typically not the type of music I listen to. Honestly I did not like it and couldn’t wait for it to be over.
Best Song: They were all boring Worst Song: Literally nothing stood out
Ick, goths. Weller-hating goths at that. Pass.
That album was really boring.
Moody but catchy. The album balances just on the line for me. I like a few songs but can't really listen through some of the others. I'm conflicted on how to rate this but since I don't think I will listen to the songs again or add them to any playlists I can't give it a high rating.
I really don’t understand why people fawn over this band so much. Awful.
Boring drivel. Was expecting so much more!
It’s the cure. It’s distinctively 80s.
Not even sure what it is I’ve just listened to but it’s terrible
I keep seeing people call it “self indulgent” and hint at it being complex, but on first listen most of it is extremely boring
I can’t…I just can’t…anything but The Cure.
I have never heard an entire album by the cure before this. Admittedly they never grabbed my attention and part of me really wanted to enjoy this, to finally ‘get’ them. Alas, that did not happen and I am firmly in the ‘not a cure fan’ camp.
Annoying whining singing, flat bass and loud repetitive flat drums with the odd super song thrown in
Did not listen
Didn’t like this. Even tried having it on as background music and couldn’t take it.
I spent a whole hour waiting for something interesting to happen. The Cure surely had appeal as a cultural phenomenon, something relatable for teenagers as we went through some existential shit. As a band, on this recording, they show a remarkable commitment to a single approach to songwriting: Robert Green is sad and all we do is play little phrases four times between his earnest yearning. At the same tempo. In the same key. With the same timbre. I can't believe there are 12 songs on this album. If it was a police line up, I'd throw my hands in the air and say "Fuck it, let them all go free". There is no way to tell which is which. I never got into The Cure and I wasn't sure why until now. Now it's clear that I just didn't notice them.
muy turbio bro
Not for me this. Too slow, weird and gothic for my liking. Couple of songs weren’t half bad. 1.5
Drones on a bit
Nicht mein Geschmack.
Barely got through listening to the album and wouldn’t bother ever trying again. “The culmination of all the musical direction…” led to a very narrow course. Every song sounds exactly the same. Boring. Robert Smith’s droning voice does the songs no favors either
"Disintegration is the eighth studio album..." the scary thing is that there are 7 more of these
Boring melodies. Whining annoying vocals. As expected from The Cure.
1.5
Very 80s - amazed it's 89 as it feels older. Almost like muzak or the crap music played by a prom band in a late 90s high school comedy. Don't think I'll get through the whole thing to be honest
Found this very boring. Borderline annoying. I guess I don’t like the Cure. 1 star.
1 good/well known song
I hate his voice so much; 1.4/5
ojalá sigas eso, se ve re bueno
According to Wikipedia when this was written the guy was on drugs, and to be fair you can tell. The whole album consists of whining/talking over some dead demo-track sounding guitar and drums. I don’t know how this peaked in the charts. The only explanation I can think of is everyone was collectively depressed that year and felt like being edgy. Well you’re not being edgy, you’ve just got not taste in music.
Not very good
eh
Just terrible. I liked the instrumentation on a couple of songs (Prayers For Rain, for one) but I can't stand his voice and the lyrics were either inane or whiny, and the attempts to be deep were embarrassing. 1.5 stars
Thought I might like The Cure album more than I am, it's far too morose and repetitive for me, though I did like Pictures of You.
Blech. This was bad for a Cure album.
Ganska jättetråkig.
Feels dark. Haven't pay attention to the lyrics. Is kinda relaxing and depressing. LauraSad I guess.
