Reviews (page 14 of 14)

I am not exactly certain what it is, but there is just something I don't like about Radiohead music. 2 stars or D+.

I know a lot of people really like Radiohead, it's just never clicked for me.

Pourquoi pas mais pas mon délire

Fine..not sure why this is on the list.

It’s not bad but I don’t get it. People speak about Radiohead like they are one of the top 10 bands of all time but I’m also not sure I’ve ever met anyone passionate about Radiohead.

This album was full of what I think of as movie soundtracks. I'm sure many of the songs were in movies but I didn't actually recognize any of them.

1. telez - 1 2. bendz - 1.5 3. high - 2.5 4. Fake -1.5 5. Bones -1 6. Dream - 1.5 7. Just - 1 8. Lung - 1.5 9. Bullet -1.5 10. Star -1 11. Sulk - 1.5 12. Spirit -1.5

MORE Radiohead?! This is the SIXTH Radiohead album I have had on this list. THIS IS TOO MUCH RADIOHEAD. I HATE RADIOHEAD. STOP MAKING ME LISTEN TO FUCKING RADIOHEAD. If was going to get anything out of a band or not, three albums of theirs would be more than sufficient for anyone to know if they had heard enough of them. More than that would be pushing any band, even someone like The Beatles I think you could have heard enough to form an opinion after two or three albums. SO WHAT ARE RADIOHEAD DOING WITH SIX ALBUMS?! Oh my God, I am so sick of this shit. Take a moment to think of three or four other albums you would like, personally, to put on this list, and then think that The Bends, Amnesiac, In Rainbows, Kid A, Hail To The Thief, and OK Computer are taking up six fucking places. Forget Elvis Costello, Radiohead are for my money the most overrepresented artist on this list. Anyway, after all that, my opinion of this album is actually pretty mellow: This is a lot more rocky and mainstream than anything else I have listened to from them. I still didn't especially like it, but it didn't grate on me in the same way as the rest of the albums above, and Thom Yorke is actually singing instead of doing the weird falsetto moans he usually does. Maybe if I listened to the albums in release order I would hear the progression to the more avant-garde and for me unlistenable style. But I'm not putting myself through that, no way. The last few tracks on this album (from Bullet Proof... I Wish I Was) seem to be going in the direction of the now-classic Radiohead sound anyway. Please, please, please... no more Radiohead.

a little sub-par for me, not all that listenable but I did make it through the album without saying, "Jesus, what is that" If I could give it a 1.5 I would.

Was hoping I’d like this better then i did when it came out. Nope

Büro, Heidenheim, Deutschland. Radiohead einfach overrated.

People really listen to Radiohead on purpose? Of course they do. Just about every piece of art out there appeals to someone or other. Still, I'm looking forward to getting the remaining three Radiohead albums from the generator so I can be done with them. I've seen a lot of people say it took repeat listening to start appreciating them, but I think I'm going to be okay going the rest of my life without giving myself some kind of sad British guitar Stockholm Syndrome.

I’ve never been a big Radiohead guy so this is the first full album I’ve ever listened to by them. I’m sure three or four of their other albums will be on here so I’ll reserve judgment on them as a whole until then. But this album was just ok, nothing really special about it to me.

Not a fan of Radiohead. This album was slightly better than the previous ones. At least, Thom Yorke had a little more power in his voice. The album still sucks though.

I just realized I don’t like this album. Radiohead are among my favorite artists but here their sound oscillates between a self-loathing Nirvana clone and 90s balladry interspersed with post-rock elements. I forgot that I only liked Radiohead after they found their unique sound with Kid A

Radiohead all in all is really hit or miss in terms of my Musictaste. 2 Songs were pretty good tho

Not for me…depressing.

Not my thing

Idk, man, Radiohead are just so boring to me.

quite chill

Meh, fine. Radiohead just isn't my jam

Why is this so dreary?

Solid album but just can’t love Radiohead overall.

Sad rock:( is not the vibe

I had no idea that this is what Dan Le Sac sampled for Letter From God To Man. What a great song that is. Started this album so strong and I was finally giving Radiohead a chance. And then the rest of the album played. The day that I found out that the worst song by my favourite band was a Radiohead cover I pissed myself laughing because suddenly Street Spirit (Fade Out) being so much worse than anything else they put out finally made sense.

Stay up all night, slam 4 beers, then as you're falling asleep, slur the random thoughts in your head while harmonizing with a yowling cat. I know... but I just can't get into RH.

Bored. Even the familiarity of some songs doesn't help. All just too serious

Ugh. I hope this is the last Radiohead album on this list. I don't mind a sad song or even a sad album (shout out to Jason Isbell's Southeastern). But Radiohead always come across as whiny to me. And the albums are so relentlessly, self-indulgently long for how repetitive they are

Not a big fan of this band but it was an OK album

JFC! Another Radiohead album? Give me a break! I wish their music actually did something for me, but I cannot pretend. I like 1 album and 3 of their songs. Unfortunately none of those are on this album. This band feels way, way overrated.

This is the album where they almost lost it. Bit dull meandering , fake plastic trees and street spirit in my opinion were always massively overated. It was only 'Just' as a song that kept it interesting. Tbh was about to write the band off at the time but what came next was well.

maybe 3 good songs, the rest were complete snoozers

Radiohead are a great band sometimes. Thom Yorke is an unbearably whiny singer who can’t carry a tune. Gets worse after this. Basically unlistenable.

bof pas mon style

Maybe the least worst of radiohead

Helt ok

Pas assez accroché aux chansons

Too jammy. Prefer other Radiohead albums. Liked a couple songs

Overrated trash. Has like 2 actual good songs on it. Mostly noise. Oh sorry, I meant “It’s so ingenious, man.”

Why does every fart this band ever made receive such adoration from the makers of this list? At least this album isn't as much of a downer as the later ones. That still doesn't count for much in my opinion.

Not my type but the guitar was good

Something happened on the day he died Spirit rose a metre, then stepped aside Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried: (I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar)

really why -- this does not need to be here at all.

Bisserl fad

Street spririt ( fade out ) has a little appeal to me, but the other songs has little appeal to me.

There were a lot of bands like this about, I think it was in the early 90's, though it might just as well have been 10 years later. Anyway I find it difficult to tell the difference. They were all much of a muchness to me, and this album hasn't changed my mind. 2, as it is not something I actively hate, but can't say I appreciate it.

They’re really not my cup of tea

Not as offensive as the previous Radiohead album, but still not my jam

The consensus is that their first album Pablo Honey is the outlier and everything from The Bends onwards is the true Radiohead. But I think that's the wrong way round. The middling indie rock with one big tune of Pablo Honey was the true essence of Radiohead but they weren't satisfied with being that. And ever since they've been trying to get away from themselves. Trying to hard to my ears. From Thom Yorke's strangled choir boy vocals to the 'is this cool?' guitars. This is the one that is the absolute midpoint between U2 and Coldplay.

We’ve got a couple of radioheads and a couple is enough. 2 stars on general principle. This is a good album and I think that radiohead are a very consistent band in their output. One or two albums is enough. To be fair this and OK Computer. But since I’ve already heard a couple of others - 2 stars.

Just OK, no better.

Idk man ..... I just don't get it. It's boring and the vocals are annoying. I have tried over the years to see what it is I'm missing with this band and I still don't understand.

Radiohead isn’t my favorite, but the album wasn’t awful. Just not for me.

I pull the same face as the dummy on the cover when I bust.

I like some the songs……but I do not get all of the love they get.

not for me.

2 stars

Better, but Scott Tennorman must still die

can't get over the whiny vocals, a couple of decent songs

First repeat artist. I still can't understand a single thing Radiohead says. Not a fan. High and Dry was ok. The rest were just kinda eh. Nice Dream had him repeating "nice dream" over and over again, but I didn't even realize he was saying that, it sounded like "my string". The music is great, many songs have some nice guitar work. I just can't get into the singer's voice though. Ends on a good note though, Street Spirit is fairly nice. Best song: Street Spirit

My truth is that I don't get Radiohead.

I think I have heard more Radiohead on this platform than I have in my entire life. I now have a love hate relationship with them. Some songs I enjoy some I really don’t. This album didn’t really do anything for me. None of the songs really stood out as great or bad. His voice was a bit more whiney in this one than previous and that annoyed me somewhat. Hopefully this is the last Radiohead album I get on here because anytime they pop up now I get PTSD. 4/10

Way more mellow than I expected

Static Noise: The Album

FAVO: High & Dry

Nope. Still haven't the first clue why they're a highly rated band.

I didn't care for this album too much.

I've tried this album before. Sorry Radiohead, you don't do it for me. Your songs sound derivative and not memorable. Knowing how popular this band is with critics, I'm guessing I'll be sitting through more of their catalog as the list reveals itself. Oh joy.

Never really listened to Radiohead. Had the impression they were overrated. I was right. Ok, nothing special.

They got considerably better. It's not terrible ("Fake Chinese Robert Plant" is the standout track), but it's far from great.

Radiohead songs all sound exactly the same to me.

Well, let's see how this goes. I typically don't mind a Radiohead song but their albums are beatings. At least it isn't Elvis Costello again. Planet Telex: I kinda like the soundscape that's created, but it isn't completely capturing me. The Bends: I actually kinda like this one. Feels more like the 90s stuff that I enjoy. High And Dry: This sounds like the 90s stuff I don't like. It's got that generic acoustic guitar and ultra-repetitive lyrics. He even did the thing with the last line that every 90s band did. Fake Plastic Trees: The lyrics feel relatable here, feeling rundown and surrounded by fake stuff. Bones: Sounds like an Oasis song. (Nice Dream): I think I've hit my limit of Radiohead Just: I've hit my limit of Radiohead. Thom York's voice is starting to annoy me. His voice is one of my least favorite things about Radiohead. My Iron Lung: The intro guitar is actually pretty cool. Props for that. Bullet Proof: this is an example of why I can't listen to a full album of this. I'm trying really hard to listen to this whole thing for this project. Black Star: Sulk: Street Spirit: cool looping guitar part.

Not the worst Radiohead album but still not a fan.

he always sounds like he does NOT wanna be in the studio

Why are these guys so popular

Fell asleep listening to this at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Friday

Ho hum. Zzzzzz

Good sound something missing

I love Kid A and OK Computer and Amnesiac is pretty great too. I've listened to The Bends six or seven times and don't find it at all compelling. After this listen I wondered, "Do I even like this band?" If Radiohead hate is based on this album then I kinda get it. The vocals drown out all the music, which seems compressed or smooshed down by distortion and makes it hard to notice anything interesting, if there's anything there. It's just boring.

Used to listen to this a bunch when I was younger and remember quite liking it. This time I'm not so sure... something about it dragged, something about felt whiny in a way it hadn't previously. I do think it's a good record, just not for me at this point in my life.

I've tried before but I'm just not a Radiohead person.

So whiny. 2.42 per track.

I actually made time to listen to this on my way home from work and found myself zoning out, with only a couple of songs striking me as listen-worthy. This can't be the Radiohead that everyone raves about. Planet Telex lyrics are vague and open ended at best. allowing the listener to draw and put their own meaning into the nonsense lyrics. I feel that it's hard to capture what he is actually saying over the instruments, a sentiment I carry throughout the entire album. Who the hell produced this album? Again, What the hell is he saying in the bend? The guitar in the middle there is a great attention grabber probably to make up for the unintelligible nonsense song that Thomas Yorke just put us through. High and Dry gives Yorke a chance to redeem himself by showing off his vocal range on those high notes, along with a kind reminder that he is capable of writing something that can provide the listener some sort of personal significance. I think it's funny that he doesn't like playing this song since it's one of the few redeeming ones from this entire album. Well, I zoned out again and Just happened to catch my attention once again. The mix of soft instrumentals in the back, a catchy chorus. I am actually a big fan of the guitar in Iron lung as well. Wow, Black Star started off so strong. He is an amazing vocalist with a pretty great range, but damn why does it sound like I am listening to music for mice? Why is it so low, why is there so much mumbling. Why shy away from your high and dawn out notes that seem to be your forte. Why did you choose this genre that doesn't fit what you seem to be be capable of doing?! I can't say that I am a fan of this album, although I do enjoy Radiohead, and have a lot of nicer things to say about them when listening to OK computer. The Bends just fell so short of my expectations for the band

More whiny alt rock. Just can’t get into it

After hearing Planet Telex I thought I was finally in for a good Radiohead album. But then they followed that track up with more pretentious rock.

Previously rated: In Rainbows (1/5) Hail To the Thief (1/5) Kid A (1/5) ************************* Since this album was five years before any Radiohead album I've listened to previously, I had hope it would be better than the others. And it is! Does that mean I like it? No. It has a few moments where it starts to rock. The singer does ruin it most of the time. But this album actually has melody, something I usually prefer to hear in music. And for that, I'll give it an extra star.

dont like the voice tbh

not my fav

It kind of feels like proto-sensitive scumbag music. I like later Radiohead better

Ugh. The Bends is better than a usual Radiohead song. Too many of these are just boring and drone on. Just is good as well.

Thought this would be cooler bc I remember getting this tape from Big Mike. Couple really good songs but I'm never gunna revisit this.

Not bad but a little boring.

Etwas duselig

I still don't like Radiohead but at least this is better than the other album I heard. My Iron Lung and Fade Out suck. Bullet Proof is ok

Don’t like radiohead

I had it on the background, recognized some of the songs but did not actively listen.

Not my groove

Cross between 80's heavy guitar, grunge angsty-sound, and bit of the 90s singer soundwriter. Fake plastic trees seems almost out of place on the album.

Another meh.

It was ok. I listened to the whole album. I certainly didn't find anything I must listen to again, but equally nothing on there that forced me to stop listening. All a bit 'meh' really.

It was fine

- My Iron Lung - Street Spirit 2.5/5

Could listen to it if it was playing. Nothing I would seek out though.

Just meh. Didn't love

Moderate. Starting to tap more into the vein of what I like, but wasn't a huge fan.

Never been able to get into Radiohead

too much noise

It wasn't bad. The problem is that it wasn't really anything at all. "My Iron Lung" was the standout, but that's not saying much. I just don't get the hype surrounding these guys and the fact that the guy cannot sing.

Its ok. Some of the guitar riffs were pretty good but overall not really my style.

Are Radiohead the coldplay of soft rock?

its radiohead

Lots of songs that I skipped. It has elements that I like, but nothing fit together into a song I actually enjoyed.

overall, i liked some of the songs, but most of them were not my favorites. some songs in the album felt way too loud, chaotic, and overwhelming, probably because i just don’t like hard rock. black star and sulk were not bad though. but i did really like the more acoustic vibe of high and dry, fake plastic trees, and street spirit (fade out). those reminded me of coldplay.

Though it reached number four on the UK Albums Chart, The Bends failed to build on the success of "Creep" (Radioman's only good song according to factual sources) outside the UK. Just, Fade out Also that album cover is cheeks

🤡🤡🤡 2.5/5

This album is dense with songs that the true faithful close their eyes and and sing along to. The stuff that used to annoy me doesn’t annoy me so much nowadays. The lyrics are still a mash of abstract platitudes, but they work as dumb, anthemic refrains. Irony, often falling to sarcasm, slapped on with paint-roller, both in words and mock heroic guitar - “My Iron Lung” is archetypical, with a guitar that switches between sneer and sonic “blah blah blah”. Their sarcasm might be sarcastic, a put on. Recursive affectation! Slightly annoying! But the instruments sound nice, if busy. Two.

not more Radiohead.. this is just one dull indie tune after another, although the shitty whine vocals suit these better perhaps e.g. Bones than their try-hard wanna be avant garde later crap

More overwrought bullshit from Radiohead. At least there's one slightly tolerable song on this album.

Nuoruuden into kuuluu, ei liian siloteltua tai leffamusiikkia (vrt. Thom Yorken soolot). Ei herätä intohimoja, toimii aamumusiikkina.

I mean it's ok, Radiohead are the equivalent of Matt Le Tisser. Highlights are incredible and will be all time classics played for years. While the majority is beyond mediocre. This album is mostly mediocre.

melodico demais

Thom sounds very sad here that Nirvana are no more. I didn’t realise at the time just how influenced early Radiohead were by the US Grunge wave. A style that passed me by at the time, and still leaves me cold now. I am not a fan of Thom’s whiny voice, and the heavy rock feel of a lot of this doesn’t do it for me. A couple of okay tunes, but they could have used a bit more subtlety in their execution.

Beetje saai eigenlijk. **

Some alright songs but a bit depressing like. Wouldn’t choose to listen to it again but wouldn’t change station if it came on the radio.

not a fan of radiohead

It’s okay

Demasiado calmado y tranquilo para mí

As usual, this rating is out of principle. The insufferable frontman outmatched in insufferability only by band's own fanbase. Petty? Maybe. But a petty act of a small man for mankind, a big act of pleasure for a man.

absolutely love this album, but i won't separate the art from a group who vocally refuse to stand against genocide.

This is my third Radiohead album and the knowledge that there are still another three to go fills me with rage. They aren't that good. No one artist should have six albums on this list. I'd like to propose a maximum of three per artist. All the extra spaces should then be allocated to artists who are not represented at all. Labi Sifre, Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, The Dubliners. All examples of artists who deserve at least one album on here but languish on zero while I am told to listen to yet another fucking Radiohead album.

Not for me. Skipped after the third song. Their sound kinda just makes me depressed and have a headache.

Total crap , the most overated band in the history of Rock , they paid the critics cash to rate them cant expalin otherwise

Please no more.

If I wanted to wallow in self pity I can think of so many albums I'd rather listen to, where I wouldn't have to listen to Thom Yorkes droning voice. I don't understand how this is so highly regarded, maybe I'm missing something? It's just boohoo poor me incel music which I suppose has its place but it's not even vaguely interesting boohoo poor me incel music. The only song that stood out for me was 'Just' but I'm not even sure I like it or if it was just slightly better than the rest of this snoozefest.

zionists

I do not like Radiohead.

Not a fan

I didn't really like it. Felt like something is sucking my energy out of me.

radiohead is overrated and fucking sucks

In a bad mood and nothing cut through my thoughts except the acerbic stuff. Dads favorite album.

No thanks

Never liked it

Even my daughter who enjoys Radiohead is not a fan of this album…

FUCK. On a Friday? I have to listen to more of this terrible band? No, I'm not going to do it. Skipping thru songs, I find it's less art pretention and more sounds like what other bands were doing in 1995. BUT, it's still this stupid band and I've been tortured enough by their stupid fucking catalogue on this website. I really can't even be slightly objective anymore. They're a trash band with a trash front man and they'll continue to be trash as long as I have to rate their trash albums. (only one star because I can't give 0)

Didn’t listen.

i hate radiohead

1001 albums that are mediocre listens before you die.

Pretentious, drab and pseudo-intellectual, its pretty bland. Thom Yorke sounds like a nasally dying cat mumbling through songs and everything is produced to sound to be played at a funeral. It sounds like a bunch of college students trying so hard to be relevant, and they just aren't. The songs present themselves as sentimental & moving but there's no matching emotion behind it. Happy people love this, but I'm sitting there asking... why?

Just another one that’s not for me. I find this stuff so boring. Nothing catches my ear. I’m sure the problem but it’s just so bland to me.

honestly just not for me in the slightest bleh songs all round

Pretentious songs presenting pretend problems; a guaranteed way to make a bad day worse. (I apologise for previous Radiohead reviews where I claimed they had one good song - upon hearing it within its intended context I can only conclude that ‘Just’ is not their only good song, as they have none.)

Not a Radiohead fan!

Maybe when Thome York stopped being a zionist.

I know why I stayed clear of Radiohead for almost 30 years.

First listen

I regret that I originally gave this album 2 stars based on only half-listening to it. That was unfair. But now that I've had the opportunity to give it my full attention, I am pleased to report that I fully hate it.

I'm sorry, but I don't like Radiohead. I never liked Radiohead, and I never will. The first thing that always catches my ear is singer Thom York's voice, and I'm totally annoyed. That whiny, whiny sound, unbearable. The rest is easy to explain, insignificant! I've never understood the hype surrounding Radiohead and consider them one of the completely overhyped bands.

Very boring and the singer had a whiny voice. Not enjoyable at all.

This is the 14th album I’m rating. I haven’t listened to any Radiohead outside of Creep, I think. However, I hear Radiohead is pretty good so this better be one of my favorite albums ever. Planet Telex - Not Adding to my Playlist. On a different day I might like this. The Bends - Adding to my Playlist. This sounds pretty good. High and Dry - Adding to my Playlist. I think I heard this before. Maybe I’m thinking of that Rolling Stones song. Fake Plastic Trees - Adding to my Playlist. This is pretty boring but good. Bones - Not Adding to my Playlist. This sounds kinda basic but maybe its because it was really influential. (Nice Dream) - Not Adding to my Playlist. I feel like I’ve heard this song a bunch of times before. Just - Not Adding to my Playlist. A bit too long in my opinion. All of these songs feel pretty similar. My Iron Lung - Not Adding to my Playlist. So far it isn’t looking good for The Bends. Bullet Proof … I Wish I Was - Not Adding to my Playlist. This isn’t particularly memorable, interesting, or fun. Black Star - Not Adding to my Playlist. Maybe I’m not paying enough attention but this all feels identical. Sulk - Not adding to my Playlist. This is boring and annoying. Street Spirit (Fade Out) - This album is not that good. All in all I liked 3/12 songs. All of this was pretty similar and boring. It isn’t the worst thing in the world. However, it is pretty boring and the third worst album so far.

Meh. Noise and whining. Might have been OK for one song, but I was trying hard to keep listening to the drivel by the fourth song. To quote Beavis and Butthead" This sucks! Change it!"

Shit like everything of theirs I've ever heard. How the hell they got so big amazes me.

A "1". I dont like Radiohead; a whole album=ick for me. Speaking into the void and hoping it doesnt speak back: - so many Radiohead (and Beetles and...) albums says a lot about the author(s) the list, and how 'experts' can get stuck in small recursive ponds, this material is weary, bleak and plaintive. I can do weepy melancholia is small doses, we all can, but this does it in a way that really grates for me. Does a fine job evoking/capturing abject shades of emotion, but other than providing soundtracks for breakup scenes/pathos/bathos, why oh why?

Lovely voice, unexpectedly. I find the music unmoving, unmusical, as if it’s being made up as it goes.

This bored me

Very mid to be honest. I was not a big fan of this. I listened to this on my hike. That probably wasn't the greatest idea since I like to connect with nature on my hikes. Listening to this only took me away from the present moment. The instrumentals were too crazy. It felt like I was being abducted by aliens.

Nicht meins

This is the 3rd Radiohead album that is on this list... People are morons.

I never really got into Radiohead. The one song I know is Creep and I prefer the J Church cover of that.

Oh my fucking god. More Radiohead?!?! WHHYYYYYYY???? I’m so sick of how over-esteemed this crappy band is. I’m not listening to this record because I already know what’s on it and I hate Radiohead and they suck. But let’s get into shall we? They’re cold and disaffected and inaccessible in a way that isn’t cool or even mildly intimidating; there’s no danger. And their detachment isn’t felt in a hipster superiority way either. They just seem like they know intellectually what it is to feel, yet none of them have ever felt anything genuinely at all in their detached weirdo fuckhead lives. That’s why I hate them so much. Their music is cold and impersonal and I suspect made by aliens doing some kind of a 3rd Rock From the Sun anthropological project on our planet. Stop pretending you can feel and making gobs of money off of it! I can see through your shit, Radiohead. I don’t want this. I don’t want any more of this non-human soundscape crap.

Love this one, heard it before
