Lovely indie album, memories of festivals past
Raw and un-flinching rap album, nothing sums up 80s America more than this
Classic 70s Bowie
One of my favourite albums ever, just proves that Joe strummer should be talked about more often when we discuss musical legacies, it’s how to bridges styles and ideas without letting go of what you believe in.
Classic from my travelling days….
John going full trash vocal in some parts
Bad hobo vibes
Grunge
Great 90’d Brit pop/rock
70s emo

This is an album that you don’t need to listen to
Standard 80’s album
Definitely Bruce’s best album by far
Sounds like a teen movie soundtrack in parts
My new fallout soundtrack
Nice ambient hold music
I hate jazz
Ok album spoiled by overly long songs
Two plain naan, chicken tikka and coconut rice please.
Wasn’t on apple or Spotify so 1 star from me
The best one of the Davi’s albums
Like if vic reeves club singer smoked two packs a day
Shagging music that now feels old dated
It’s ok, just not really my cup of tea 🍵
Space, time, the final frontier
Imagine every 80’s movie you’ve ever watched + simple minds album = this
The problem with this is once you allow Gilmore and co more than 5 min to make a song it all goes a bit wrong
A good intro to this band but the next two albums are the best of them
This album is dipped in double denim, ten gallon hats and a 20pk of Marlboro
Not bad
Some of this has aged well (stan, way I am & the real slim shady) but some of this hasn’t (Kim especially!). This was on everywhere back in the day so it was nice to refresh with it.
Not a patch on their debut
Forgot about these guys until now, has held up well, really enjoyed it.
One song and one song only
Pretty bland Tbh
Pretty bland Tbh
Bland mid 2000’s r&b
It’s prog Jim but not as we know it
Classic 80’s vibes
It’s not Rumours but what is?? Still a good experimental album
Mood music
Good music shame morrissey is such a insufferable prick
I mean it’s alright…
Quite surprised by this, better than I thought it would be
If you’ve always wanted to know what Lou Reed would sound like singing lost in music well now’s your chance
Mid….
Classic glam rock
Just why?!?
Very cool, chilled and beautifully sung
You stupid dumb shit god damn motherfucker!
Drug prog
Plus 5 for Johnny marr minus 2 for morrisey
Lounge lizard
A good introduction to a great metal band
A undiscovered gem of the pre punk era

It’s country isn’t it
Better than I though tbf
Oh dear god why!!
Classic Sunday morning vibes with this album but my god is it longggggggggggggggg
Like 2 girls 1 cup for your ears
Car adverts rejoice!!
Elvis Costello, the king of the average album!
It’s dad rock ain’t it, gets an extra star for reeling in the years excellent guitar work,
Skyrim soundtrack unlocked
It’s spoken word rap pretty chill but not really inspiring
Finally 701 albums in we finally get to Rumours. Is it a perfect album, yes. Does it contain some of the best songs on record, yes Does it contain stevie nicks, yes Is it a 5, yes.
Cheesy 80s synth, just the way I like it
Liked this more than I thought I would
A whole lot of funk brother
This is either a hungover or post club album, listening to it any other time just doesn’t feel right
1.5/5 not great 80s synth
I’m now wearing grass skirts and sleeping with my cousins after this….
Low grade doors tribute band
Very early post hardcore stuff, definitely inspired future bands in the the early 2000s
Sub optimal strokes
There’s a couple of great songs on here in gigantic and where’s my mind but the rest just feels a bit sloppy
Funky Afro beats
Some decent songs in which is essentially a covers album
Great background music
Yeah psychedelic rock had to start somewhere I guess
Classic ambient house which I have a soft spot for tbf
3.5 for me, Bowie saving this with his songwriting and production
Bang average rock
Yeah I mean it’s gotta start somewhere right??
Nice chilled album for a Sunday morning
And now you wanna hate me because hate is all the world has ever seen lately!! 🖕🏻
Ow off to ask the wife for a Jamaican jerk off, wish me luck!
I laugh in your face, I know you did with this album!
Like a lynard skynard tribute band playing lynard skynard rejected songs badly
Love big of ray davis
In the lord we trust!!!
I do indeed fear the jazz!
Big classic 80s punk
Mason kid 60s pop 2.5/5 for me
Nice summer time vibe with some classics thrown in
Hearts and bones is great, the rest is average at best
It’s a sin!
This is another example of why some bands on this list don’t need more than one album on here frankly
Britney ran so Beiber could walk……
Nothings shocking… and thats the problem.
If ADHD was an album
Average 60’s pop
4.5 for me, feels a little polished compared to Ride the Lighting which is the magnum opus in my opinion
I will never understand the hype of Dylan….
A handful of great tunes but overall too long to really enjoy for me
I still fear the jazz
Love a bit of Johnny cash these days, part country, part comedy show with the songs to match
Now you know why Nile Rogers is the goat
There is some really good songs on here, if only they didn’t persist with the distortion on some songs…
Sounds like a load of rejected simple minds songs.
Dads of the world unite!!
2.5 for me, some great music on here but doesn’t half drag on…
Classic bit of punk from Ian and the gang
One song does not make an album
Hey let’s all do the conga! 2.5 for me
Classic New Romantic 80s
Pioneers of rock rap
Liked this more than I thought I would. Good songs.
Ah Prince my little purple sex goblin
Another ‘why is this on here album’ I guess
All inclusive holiday jazz vibes
Probably their best album and that’s entertainment is a all time classic
RIP Ozzy, this is where it all started for many a rock/metal band. Absolutely epic
I really liked this, a real surprise for me.
My respect for Noddy Holder has increased
Generic country
Hey did you want to know what country and punk sounded like together?? No neither did I but let me warn you it’s shit.
The most 80s sounding 70s album you’ll hear on this list
Really chilled lo fi hip hop
70s Aerosmith>90s Aerosmith
Right about now the funk soul brother, check it out now the funk soul brother!
Not bad for aged psychedelic rock, the 17min magnum opus is a journey though
Brought this when it came out and loved it then and still love it now
Once you realise Kevin Rowland sounds like Vic Reeves club singer you’ll never go back!
3.5 for me, another album I’ll go back to after this is all over.
Kinda liked this, classic Bowie at the start then into the Eno synth mode by the end.
Good introduction to Miss Winehouse, beautiful voice, just a shame it’s a massive album as it does become a bit much for an hour.
4.5. Prefer the debut but this has some absolute classics on although some of the lyrics haven’t aged so well! 😂
Moody synths with some catchy tunes throughout.
Generic country 2.0
Ah Dylan. The song writing is first class but the performance is like nails on a black board. I’ve never got the Dylan hype and so still don’t, maybe I’m not old enough, sure the classics are there but if the songs are more then 3 minutes it becomes like listening to white noise due to his grating nasal tones.
Like all your favourite 70s rock bands rejected songs in one disc
This backs made two albums and they are both in this list? FML
Different to what I expected from Chicago as I just remember the soft rock 80s songs. Lots of horns and a crazy 7 min guitar solo track stand out for me
If only she had songs some Dylan songs…
Welcome back to issue 147 of why is this album on the list
Definitely hear some Zepplin esq stuff here, think Beck as a guitarist is very under rated
This is what live albums are all about
Music good, vocals bad
Just a great pop album with ground breaking production.
I love AC/DC like a fat kid loves cake
Bland
The British version of the Ramones
This is like bob dylan but with somehow worse singing
The Bee Gees needed disco….
Like a budget Duran Duran
Interesting album, although had to listen to a compilation as album wasn’t on Apple Music which is disappointing
Someone must love this, but that someone is not me!
Standard Brit pop stuff.
Like an album of two half’s that I’m still not sure on
Imagine to series indie with RHCP lyrics……
Decent set of songs
Classic early maiden, setting things up nicely for the greater stuff that was to come
Caution, speed kills!
The WKD blue of music albums
Standard 80s TV series soundtrack here
It’s 2.5 for me. Meanders along nicely, almost day dream like but ultimately forgettable
Standard late 60s rock 2.5
Not their best
So smooth you can spread it
Nice fusion of styles both musically and culturally.
Got an extra star for the lyrics being some of the most wild if heard in a longtime
813 albums in and I still fear the Jazz….
Well this is a difficult, musically he is a legend, but an asshole of a person, there is some good in here but a lot of what feels like rejected Beatles songs
White noise for art students
Classic early punk sound from one of the legends, this is what a live album should be all about, loud, chaotic and full of energy
No just not for me, sounds like the local drunk in the pub on Friday night karaoke
Good introduction to British punk
There’s a great voice in there somewhere it’s just ruined by bad production
Standards 60s pyschrock album. No notes
Nice little introduction to Indian music
This is a pioneering hip hop album for sure, like some didn’t like others but can see why it helps revitalise east coast hip hop
3.5 for me. Killing moon is a classic but the rest is a bit hit and miss. Does sound like a mash up of all those 80s goth/moody bands though
Like Ravi Shankar previously, I can see why this is on this list. It’s an interesting listen, can clearly hear the passion in the voice and why he is so revered in this genre of music
It’s an album you have on in the background at a dinner party. Someone might ask you who is it by you tell who it’s by and everyone kinda strikes their shoulders and goes back talking.
Some good, some ok
Early 200s dad rock at its finest
Just fuck off Tom Waits
Very bland 90s dance/techno I’m afraid
Some songs are still relevant today as they were in the early nineties but the ones about women are awful and misogynistic I’m afraid
Liked more songs then I thought, always an underrated band in the grunge scene
A great voice stuck behind generic 80s r&b unfortunately
I got 4 songs in, yeah I tried but no, no thank you
Liked this more than I initially thought
Really enjoyed this like if Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein had a French baby
Yeah it’s way out and different, liked some songs, found others a little too strange
Yeah well no.
“How Long, not long, cos what you reap is what you sow” A true masterpiece of a debut album, one of my favourite bands ever and stills sends a message that’s as relevant then as it is today.
I remember this album being everywhere when it came out, has some great songs on it, shame they kept making the cobain comparison.
Ok chilled electronic songs but largely forgettable
Poussee!!!
Glad I listened to this but I doubt I’ll listen again
What are those albums where the memory of it being great outweighs? The actual reality of it being any good? Three or four? Really good songs the rest of it a little bit chaotic. Did some much better stuff in the early 2000s which is probably their pinical
Kayne’s production on this is what really elevates this above most other hip hop albums, even makes Jay-z sound good. Tails off at the end but the rest is great.
Every single one of these sounds like a soundtrack to all those rom coms in the 80s
A classic hip hop album, ready or not is probably a peak 90s sample. Lauren hill’s voice takes these songs to a new level.
Lift music for lifts
Despressed shit for depressed people
This is the stuff your mum and aunties all danced to in the eighties
Nice haunting music but definitely prefer their later stuff
It’s James Brown mother fucker!
Little Richard wales so elvis could run
A classic hip hop debut
Liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Really chilled
It’s good, but it’s not great. They were better albums by Alice In Chains and Soundgarden in this era. Still don’t get the hype around Cobain and this band they never change the face of music just media hype.
This is what Dylan songs would sound like if he could sing…
Welcome to background coffee shop music vol 19
Terrible prog
Nice little post punk album
Big, loud and fun, exactly what I’d expect from Mr Cooper
Guitar sex
This is music for people who like watching paint dry
One, if not the greatest debuts of all time
Standard ska stuff
Musically significant but does sound dated now
Good solid album but why do they still put interludes and skits in there, like there is no need for them at all
Like a cross between the smiths and inxs
Great debut from an underrated band
You can definitely hear the influence this had on a lot of bands
Mediocre pop
Great song writing by the late great Ray Davies
How this is rated one of the best live albums ever is beyond me, AIC and PJ did it better in my opinion in the Unplugged series, the best song on here is a cover which says it all.
Nice folk music but at over an hour it becomes a bit too much after a while
This was a difficult listen. This is clearly someone who is talented but suffering from mental illness, it feels cruel giving him an album that just seems thrown together at the last minute in the hope something sticks but never does.
Another Byrds album! It’s ok, much like the horse
One of dance music’s defining albums
Enjoyed this album
This album reminds me of my dad as he would play this on vinyl all the time growing up. The first three songs are immense but after that it just becomes dad rock
Average Indie at best
2.5 for me. There are some good songs and ideas in there. It’s just all of it just sounds chaotic and finished in a bit of a mess by the end if I’m honest they did some better songs later on to be fair
Just divorce this motherfucker
Nice chilled house
Standard new wave stuff really
Better than I though even with all the stupid skits
Brutal just how I like it!
Title track is great but the rest just all sounds the same and monotonous
As you would expect from bjork, something unique and different
Quick someone call the Jazz police
First half, it was a one star, but the last four songs pushed it to a two
White guys playing the blues, Layla still rocks though
I remember this album went under the radar at first when I came out and I thought why? It’s so different to anything out at the time and the music is very varied, the lyrics are wild and the whole album structure is insane but I really liked and still do to this day
Some really good, some pretty average
Let me cut your cake with my knife
Baby I’m a cement mixer!
3.5 It’s not as good as the debut by far as the big songs are great but the rest are significantly weaker unfortunately but this still brings back memories from my younger days in London.
Cheesy soft rock 101
Compared to the first couple of albums this is so polished it shines like a bald head in the sun, big hits and some nice ideas but just not a patch on the raw energy of the first couple of albums.
Borderline un-listenable in parts but I made it to the end somehow
A stinking classic right here
Jeff Beck aside this is just a standard 60s rock/pop affair
Nice song writing and vocals but it’s all just a bit radio 2 isn’t it
The first few songs are great especially Waiting for a man but the album tails off soon after and the last few tracks are just noise. I can hear how this is considered so influential for it’s time but musically it’s a bit hit and miss
I didn’t mind some songs but then I read he didn’t credit any of the artists so that’s a shitty thing to do isn’t it Malcolm?
The lord giveth and the lord takes away….
We All Need to join the Cult of personality
Very much bjork vibes going on here
2.5 He’s a great guitarist and he does well at the heavy rock blues but the rest is just a bit bland and boring, which is a shame
Not my cup of tea
Like I wrote after hearing Physcocandy, they have great songs ruined by distortion, this is a million miles from that, was really surprised by how warm and uplifting this was, definitely adding this to my album list
Easily my favourite Stones album
Nice little melting pot of ideas from every sixties band you know
Fantastic voice.
I would like to thank Peter Griffin for introducing me to ‘Rock Lobster’
Lift music for lift people
The big hits are great but the rest isn’t as good unfortunately
Good introduction to a legendary band
More prince andrew than purple rain prince
It’s mellow, it’s poppy, it’s chilled it’s Abba
Firstly it’s not on apple which forces me to hear shitty Spotify ads so what I did hear wasn’t great
Personally my favorite suede album
Bland
A good introduction to a seminal punk band
There’s some dad rock I can vibe with but some, like this, aren’t my cup of tea sad to say
My second favourite manics album, song great songs on here
One of my favorite indie/rock bands, very underrated and Skin is an amazing front woman with an exceptional vocal range
Pretty dull prog.
Goo guitar work and some nice songs tbh
The effect of COVID-19 on the human brain will be studied forever…
So so
Ok now I can see where TON got their influence from.
You fuck this right off into space
10 songs in and yeah, I’m not listening to all that
It’s too long for a decent listen through, there are good songs in her but buried in amongst to much filler.
Pleasant without being offensive
Like a soundtrack to a 70s BBC documentary that’s really controversial and is banned but later re-released
The last good Brit pop album with some very memorable songs
Pretty boring 60s pop
Apart from the one big hit. I’m not sure why this is included on thei list tbh
Boring lesbian country
Wait….these songs weren’t in Toy Story….
I’m sure Devo have better albums than this so not sure why this is on the list TBH
Noise but not in a good way
More an album for who the person is rather than the music
Uninspiring beach bar music
One of my favorite hip hop albums
One of my all time favourites. His voice is stunning and his cover of hallelujah is one of the greatest cover versions
It’s country, which is all you need to know
UK was a big thing around the early 2000s with MJ Cole being one of the big pioneers of the scene with sincere the big hit here. The thing is the songs work well in a compilation or a club mix but on an album it just sounds a bit samey and bland which is a shame
Lovely collection of songs
Really wasn’t expecting much from this but I ended up liking this a lot
This is music for daydreamers
I STILL FEAR THE JAZZ
Not a bad post punk album, made me dive into their back catalogue as they are a new one to me.
Boomer dinner party music
Not unlistenable but definitely not re-listenable
Not sure the warning sticker on the album cover is about the music or the man himself…..
Summer evenings indie
Nice collection of rejected beach boys songs
Nice classic punk album
I mean it’s dolly and it’s country, they go together like cheese and onion
This is the album you watch rain run down your window to
Excellent first half, does drag on in the second which is a shame but enjoyable
Very boring dad rock.
Every now and then this pops up an undiscovered gem like this, well worth a listen!
One of the the more enjoyable U2 albums imo
Ah I don’t fear this type of jazz, very late 70s/late eighties movie soundtrack stuff
Decent live album
An album that is on this list because of one decent song, I’m sure there are better albums out there that deserve being on this list.
You can hear the influences of this album on future acts
Their magnum opus
Like a ripe banana, soft, smooth and funky
Uses the classic indie formula of quiet start, builds to a crescendo then either goes quiet again or throws in a tempo change. That said lies and wake up are good songs
Definitely better than the earlier stuff, can definitely hear influences of later artists with some of these tracks but it still sounds like robot sex to me
Classic set of covers by a classic voice and artist
Classic slice of true 80s
It’s ok, not as good as mezzanine but a solid chilled beats album
I just found this really boring sorry
Nice songwriting and pleasant music
The worse of 90s hip hop
Very weird electronic music
A absolute classic, an album everyone should own, with a message that still resonates today
It’s French it’s music
