The Mothers Of Invention
1/5
I have to apologise to Frank Zappa but I simply don’t get this one, random non-musical noises and vocals throughout.
I listened to this on a flight and there was a kid who shat himself screaming like he was being exorcised and I thought it was part of the album. (I wish this was a lie)

There a reason this was album 185 for me, and it's currently day 476.. 2 hours+, spotify version "about 5 hours" is a true testament to my attention span... To me seemed like liquid d&b, actually quite soothing and calm beats for most of disc1. The second disc was more uninteresting, literally just some drums and some bass (I guess that's where the genre gets its catchy name).
I don't see a situation where im like.. fuck it, put disc 3 of New Forms by Roni Size on.

Jeff beck guitar solo, songs written by bowie and mark knopfler. Pop bangers, enough for a 4/5
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
4/5
This is like modern art, it's garbage but somehow highly acclaimed. Would give it a generous 3/10, but some guitar legends such as Steve Vai and Frusciante highly praise this album. And apparently many listens are required, so I will give it a high rating and come back to it.

Fela Kuti

First time listening to Afrobeat properly. Great listen, good instrumentals with catchy melodies.
Bauhaus

Edgy and nonsensical lyrically, boring and dull musically. The riff on "Mask" is kinda cool tho ngl.

2/5
Extremely average, generic-sounding country. Unsure between 1 or 2 stars.
Venom
3/5
Better than expected..
Pearl Jam
4/5
Very 90s rock/hard rock sound, I think the second part of the album is slightly weaker with too much repetition at times, but overall still an amazing album.
The Young Rascals
4/5
Mellow album with some nice vocals, good for a scary sunday and I would say original for the 60s. 7.5/10
Sisters Of Mercy
2/5
Beck
5/5
Excellent on first listen, new and varied sounds. Great mix between hip/hop, rock, and electronic. Will definitely listen again
Funkadelic
4/5
Overall amazing funk album, track 4 and 5 can be slightly improved I think but still as one of the best funk albums. Favourite tracks: one nation under a groove, who says a funk band can't play rock.
Ella Fitzgerald
4/5
Beautiful voice, it has a Christmasy sound to it. If I pretend like it’s Christmas I give it a 4/5
Lightning Bolt
1/5

The Darkness
3/5
Need to listen again, was in deep focus and feel like I missed out on a great rock album
Bill Evans Trio
4/5
One of the most highly-rated live jazz albums for good reason. Beautiful piano lines throughout, very different compared to the other jazz I listened to which seemed to have more buildups and releases throughout.
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Better than the first album and has a strong start. Think it falls off abit and musically becomes not all that impressive. Trumpet/violin near the beginning was great though. 7/10
Deep Purple
4/5
Dire Straits
5/5
Perfect mix between rock and blues. Amazing sax on Your Latest Trick, really like the guitar work on One World. One of the greatest riffs of all time on Money for Nothing. Brothers in Arms and Why Worry are beautiful.

Nick Drake
3/5
Quite similar sounding throughout, good bit of folk.

Probably alot more going on than I can appreciate (such as the unusual time signatures). Sounds more modern than I would've expected for a 50s album and overall amazing.
PJ Harvey
2/5
Lyrics is a bunch of non-sensical emo stuff, not much going on with the instrumental. Overall quite bad and I can't decide between 1 or 2 stars. 3/10

horrific nonsense whispering and overall just strange music.
Public Enemy
3/5
3/5 for me, but worth a second listen since it's being seen as one of the greatest/most influential albums of all time..
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Nice bit of harmonica, the lyrics are questionable. Perhaps most on the grooviest tune under my thumb
Aretha Franklin
5/5
Recongised Chain of fools from a bakermat remix and instantly knew this would be a banger. This is what I think of when I think of Soul.
Scott Walker
3/5
Powerful vocals, poetic lyrics. Though the style is repetitive throughout. Probably deserves a second listen.
Pink Floyd
4/5
vintage psychedelic rock. Songs about bikes and scarecrows, but also instrumental bangers like interstellar overdrive. Would say deserves a 5 but I leave it a 4 as it's not very accessible. Probably 5 on shrooms tho.
D'Angelo
3/5
Super repetitive lyrics, though it's quite a nice intro to neo soul.
Ramblin' Jack Elliott
2/5
Extremely average blues/country licks, nothing special about the vocals either.
LCD Soundsystem
4/5
Unique sound, feels like indie with some underlying funk.
Fav tracks: Time to get away and All my friends
Abdullah Ibrahim
3/5
Have heard verter jazz, thought the last copule of tracks had room for more creativity but overall a good album
Paul Revere & The Raiders
4/5
Early rock from the 60s, yet I think has a more advanced sound to it.
Meat Puppets
2/5
5/5
Actively listened to this one, great concept album with quite unique/otherworldly themes. I like the inclusion of the more "traditional" rock and roll sounding tracks like suffragatte city and rock n roll suicide. Mellower tracks like soul love are add good variety. Starman and Moondage daydream are absolute bangers.
The War On Drugs
4/5
Usually not a fan of mood changes between first/second half of the album but this one goes from more intense indie rock to mellow/instrumental in quite a nice way. Favourite track: An Ocean Between the Waves
Scott Walker

Tears For Fears
4/5
Relaxing album, doesn’t overdo it on the synth, quite mellow and interesting. 3.5/5

Randy Newman
5/5
Beautiful composition throughout the album, has a feel of orchestral music yet with pop/rock/blues influences. Amazing pianowork and I didn’t know you can leave your hat on was initially recorded by him.
Beth Orton
5/5
Beautiful vocals - missed most of the lyrics and definitely a second listen required.
Great mix of electronic/folk in the first half of the album, then dropping down to just simple guitar and vocals.
Rush
4/5
Never heard prog metal before, feel like this is a good mix between that and prog rock. First track extremely varied, very cool
Garbage
3/5
Surprisingly different from what the name suggests. Though it is quite heavy on the emo vibe/lyrics
Paul Weller
3/5
Pretty solid alternative/indie style rock, some country influences in the guitar playing in the first side of the album (i.e. in wild wood). Lyrids abit meaningless.
Incredible Bongo Band
4/5
Very unique, a few covers but both interestingly done. Love the bongos and how they made it sound very funky
Killing Joke
2/5
Finley Quaye
4/5
Quite relaxing raegge, really liked the bass work in there.

2/5
Good scope between the songs. Other than that, nothing too special
Boston
4/5
Buena Vista Social Club
5/5
Musica cubana at its best. Never heard this kind of music, great blend between the jazzier and more instrumental pieces (buena vista social club, pueblo nuevo), bolero, and Cuban dance music. Amazing
Circle Jerks
2/5
I went to take a piss and the album was over.
The Flaming Lips
2/5
Not even sure what genre this was, some okay songs in there but overall sounds like a mesh of one very similar song.
TLC
3/5
Just all about sex, but I guess it’s quite groovy
Green Day
3/5
Beatles
4/5
Lots of catchy tunes but not my favorite Beatles album. Songs follow quite childlike lyrics and melodies, which works though would like abit more variety
The Rolling Stones
5/5
Lots of songs about heroin, but this still gets a perfect score from me. Perfect blend between blues, rock and abit of country (though not as much as some other albums). Timeless tunes like brown sugar, can’t you hear me knocking
The Sabres Of Paradise
2/5
Couple of interesting tracks (wilmot, tow truck)
Astrud Gilberto
3/5
beautiful voice, gets 3/5 cause lacks abit of variety in style (and girl from Ipanema is not on this one).
Sister Sledge
4/5
Nile Rodgers really shines through, can especially hear it in "thinking of you".
The Police
3/5
Slightly underwhelming besides the 2 classics in this album.
Jane's Addiction
2/5
LCD Soundsystem
3/5
3.5, didn’t like the last track but leading up to it with quite good. Very distinctive sound but still would prefer an older album of theirs
Nirvana
3/5
Bit too much in some points for me, and in multiple cases prefer the mtv unplugged version. Despite the poeticism of the lyrics (i.e. in rape me, milk it), this gets a 3.
Dire Straits
5/5
Knopfler's guitar blends perfectly with the vocals, classic blues rock album and such a strong debut album. Arguably one of the best guitar solos on sultans of swing but this album is much more than that.
Slint
2/5
Johnny Cash
3/5
The Fall
2/5
Tom Tom Club
3/5
Nice bit of funk but nothing too unique about it, fav track: under the broadwalk
Laura Nyro
2/5
Very jazzy voice as can be heard from the first few tracks, though I think it's utilised much less in later tracks.
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
Close to a 5/5, though the second half of the album is missing just abit of Frusciante magic for me.
Grateful Dead
4/5
Masterfully made prog rock/acid rock tracks with range of impressive instrumentals, including an organ solo on "Death Don't Have No Mercy". 'feedback' the weakest track imo but still earns a 5/5 for me.
The Smiths
4/5
3.5, political themes are quite nicely involved. Liked the guitar work on the penultimate track.
Cowboy Junkies
4/5
Felt more country and progressively got a more blues feel. Steel lap guitar and harmonica solos were my highlight
Khaled
3/5
Tbf, Arabic “imagine” is kind of a vibe. 2.5
Primal Scream
3/5
3.5
David Bowie
3/5
not my favourite bowie album so I give it a 3 but Bren the music connoisseur gives it a 5 so.. who knows. Definitely more art rock/avant compared to the other bowie albums I've listened to. Worth another listen
Lauryn Hill
4/5
Dizzee Rascal
1/5
One of the worst things I’ve listen to, I can get behind some grime but this is horrific. Boring lyrically and musically, even the production is bad it just sounds horrible. Mind opening how bad this is.
The Specials
3/5
One that deserves a second listen, upon first it didn’t seem too impressive. May have missed on the ska influences as it just felt more 60s/70s rock and roll
The Flying Burrito Brothers
2/5
Beck
3/5
3.5, where it’s at and sissyneck are very strong tracks but think some other ones try for abit of an experimental rock and don’t get it exactly right.
Lou Reed
2/5
David Bowie
4/5
500th album I rate - Lots of playing around with the rhythm, I feel like some erratic slightly off tempo bits add some blues/chaotic feel to the album. Pianowork is great throughout, second half of the album is very very good. Second listen deserved.
Prefab Sprout
4/5
Like the mix between jazz/pop, lots of harmonising that worked well throughout the album, liked the work on the keyboard to make the dreamy tone.
Mike Oldfield
4/5
Bored slightly by the first track, extremely relaxing pianowork nonetheless. Enjoyed the second track much more, range of instruments and sounds making it a classic prog rock album. Almost everything composed and played by a 19 year old makes this a 4/5 for m
Jurassic 5
4/5
Saint Etienne
3/5
abit too much trip pop for me in the last 5 tracks, before those a couple of pretty good tracks (Girl VII, Spring, Carnt sleep)
k.d. lang
4/5
Beautiful voice, used it quite uniquely for a blend between pop and jazz. Deserves a second listen since it had lots of layers and varied instruments.
CHIC
4/5
disco/dance bangers, great basslines and funky guitar by nile rodgers.
Thin Lizzy
3/5
Finally listened to it more than 2 years after.. september 2025, pretty solid album, I like the deeper notes of his voice 3.5
Roxy Music
3/5
Thelonious Monk
4/5
second track is one of my favourite jazz tunes, slightly dragged down by the last half of the album but is still a great listen.
Frank Ocean
4/5
The Monkees
3/5
3.5, some good tracks albeit very 60s/love song theme to it. (Randy scouse git, no time, for petes sake)
Pink Floyd
5/5
Perfect album
The Flaming Lips
3/5
IMO better than the other flaming lips album on here.
De La Soul
3/5
Lots of groovy/sampled tunes, another listen is needed as I didn't pay too much attention but has potential to be a 4/5. 3.5 rating upon first listen.
The Verve
3/5
On day 748, I finally get to this album. It's not bad.. I would listen to it again, though to me there's no track that largely stands out.
Abit different from the usual britpop, it has a more dreamy element to it, definitely less pop. 3.5
Prince
4/5
Great album, has slow/emotional songs as well as more fast paced, pop songs. 3.75 for me
Gorillaz
4/5
Close to a 5 for the originality and uniqueness of the tunes, highlighted in Latin Simone, Sound check, Client Eastwood (both versions). etc.
The Divine Comedy
2/5
Singer's voice and style remind me slightly of Nick Cave, though this album is really quite boring both in terms of instrumentals and lyrics. Not much variety in the vocals either, each songs feels like the same song. 1.5
Michael Jackson
4/5
The Replacements
3/5
Androgynous - unsatisfied are great tracks. Quite like the raw sound in a couple other tracks as well, imagine it would sound great live. 3.5
Neil Young
3/5
Starting to get a pattern with Neil Young albums: they're all pretty good, with some very good tracks in there. But overall nothing that's super unique/outstanding to me. Favourite track: Southern man
R.E.M.
3/5
Cee Lo Green
3/5
Radiohead
4/5
Amazing mix between electronic music and art rock. Easy to get lost in the music listening to this album, 4.5.
Ice Cube
2/5
Lyrics and flow disappointed me slightly. Nothing that stood out too much.
Jazmine Sullivan
2/5
Lambchop
2/5
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Country blues, guitar parts get slightly repetitive but the inclusion of conga + other African/south Asian instruments make for an interesting sound that’s quite unique. 3.5
The Everly Brothers
2/5
Christina Aguilera
3/5
Got this on my 23rd birthday, and listening to it more than a year later. Not as bad and dreadful as I thought..
Christina Aguilera has some soul in her voice, but more importantly, she better switch me chairs so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst.
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
Easy 5/5
The Temptations
3/5
The Velvet Underground
3/5
Felt very experimental, chaotic song to end the album, and I have a feeling “the gift” is hilarious second listen needed for that song. 7/10
David Bowie
4/5
Very lighthearted and enjoyable listen. Quite like how the backing vocals go along with Bowie's voice, great groove on the last track.
Beatles
4/5
very strong album with many great songs, ranging from random goofy songs like Rocky Raccoon to Back in the U.S.S.R. Strays away from the 'love song' theme in the earlier albums. 9/10
Kate Bush
3/5
Needs a relisten
Traffic
5/5
Amazing blues rock album with the right amount of folk mixed in. Great range of instruments including flutes and organ add a unique sound that I think is quite ahead of it’s time. 9/10 but rounds up.
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
3/5
Quite classic-indie sounding rock album. Guitar tone with the jangle and reverb that I quite define with this genre 3/5
Bert Jansch
3/5
Some very cool fingerstyle guitar in this one, adds to the folk vibe and is in some cases quite technical and groovy. 3/5
Serge Gainsbourg
5/5
The mixture of overdrive guitar funk sound with the orchestra/choir, as well as that smooth ass french voice (I have no idea what they're saying). Makes this one of the most unique albums I've listened to.
The Louvin Brothers
2/5
Don't like this country twang sound
Joni Mitchell
3/5
Mekons
2/5
Santana
5/5
Amazing and varied sounds throughout. Soothing piano on Incident in neshabur, mostly instrumental tracks sembra pa ti and se a Cabo. Then the last two tracks completely different, one sounding very 80s rock and the other very latin influenced.
4/5
Africa inspired percussion paired with the organ/guitar makes for a great sound.
Little Richard
3/5
Great bit of rock, sax throughout is catchy and has a strong presence in the album. 3.5/5
Tricky
2/5
Slipknot
3/5
I can see why this would be higher for a metalhead, but for me its a 3/5. Somehow I think I'd put this on if I was trying to focus.
Liz Phair
2/5
Terrible edgy lyrics
Britney Spears
1/5
Miss me baby one more time
Led Zeppelin
5/5
One of the best rock albums, and in my opinion probably the best from Led Zeppelin. Every song is amazing, timeless riffs and intense vocals.
50 Cent
4/5
Trying step 1) (get rich)
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
1/5
Pure garbage. The more I listen to it the more I hate his voice.
Giant Sand
3/5
almost 2 years later.. listened to it. (17 jul 2025). It was not bad, don't know why it put it of for so long.
I don't mind this style of vocals - the ones where he seems like he's singing but talking at the same time. It's low energy but soothing in a way. Feels abit like some of velvet underground's tracks.
King Crimson
3/5
Dragged down by the first track but still a great prog rock album.
The Triffids
2/5
Tim Buckley
3/5
Gypsy woman is a great song, the middle two tracks I found slightly boring. 3/5.
The Smashing Pumpkins
5/5
Every song is interesting in its own way, read that each track has lots and lots of different layers overdubbed. Great/catchy singles as well.
The Beau Brummels
3/5
Some songs gave me a job Dylan vibe musically. 2.5
Femi Kuti
4/5
Wikipedia said it's made to be an intro to Afrobeats, and it was indeed a very solid intro. 3.5 but rounds up.
Tortoise
1/5
As far as jazz fusion goes this is quite disappointing. Thought my AirPods were bugging during the first track but was just the song
James Taylor
3/5
The Cure
3/5
Boss, what was that last track all about?
Ice Cube
2/5
The White Stripes
3/5
Neil Young
4/5
Feel like most of the songs are quite simple but all work very well. Neil has a great voice in this record, will listen to it again.
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Great voice
Bon Jovi
3/5
This guy really loves his pinch harmonics. Good guitar solo on the last song, lyrics abit corny and repetitive but some great songs in here. 3.5
Iggy Pop
4/5
Morrissey
3/5
Not the worst Morrissey album, like the riff on the first track.
Stereo MC's
4/5
Extremely groovy to start off, sax stands out in "Sketch", Playing with Fire", "Pressure". Vocals nicely complemented the instruments and the funky beat, overall great album. 4.5
Stan Getz
5/5
Beautifully calming, Getz’s sax really stands out.
David Bowie
3/5
3.5/5, piano parts remind me abit of some Nick Cave albums, a good album that does the art rock/jazz rock style very well.
Happy Mondays
3/5
A good album, but slightly disappointed and was expecting more interesting/chaotic tracks.
The Kinks
5/5
Amazingly soothing, lighthearted songs. Great rock/blues sounds in some tracks too.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
The KLF
3/5
surprisingly melodic
Pere Ubu
2/5
808 State
3/5
Trippy, but I’m not tripping.
Fever Ray
1/5
Horrible, I'd see this as a soundtrack for a bad sci-fi film.
Red Snapper
3/5
Trip hop/jazz/funk/electronica all in one and they do it pretty well. 3.5. Not sure what mood I'd have to be in to put this on though.. probably just confused.
Massive Attack
4/5
Doesn't overdo the electronica aspect of it, great vocals to accompany the dub/electronica. 4.5
Björk
3/5
Liked it more than the other Bjork album but still quite average expect for a few songs imo
4/5
Innovative, rap metal pop all in one
Dagmar Krause
1/5
Got given this album in 2023, listening to it 2nd Jan 2025.
This may be a lesson that you can avoid things but the worst will still come cause this was terrible. The woman has an orchestral voice but I think just applied in one of the worst possible ways. So much more potential that hasn't been reached here, the instrumental backing is unremarkable I think and doesn't accompany the voice too well. 1.5
John Lennon
4/5
Simple, catchy and soothing
New Order
4/5
I liked it more than Closer by Joy Division, good beats and captures "new wave" sound very well
Elis Regina
3/5
Great voice, can hear jazz/funk influences especially in O Medo De Amar E O Meno De Ser Livre and Tiro Lo Alvaro. 3.5
Kanye West
4/5
Very good debut album, with entertaining lyrics with catchy beats.
Linkin Park
3/5
Culture Club
3/5
Miles Davis
3/5
First disc seemed a bit all over the place for me, sounds and themes were a bit messy and was a bit of a headache to listen to.
Second disk is quite interesting with funk undertones and an interesting mix with jazz.
3.5 (would give a 3 but its too highly rated and I'm a sheep)
Le Tigre
3/5
3.5, one of my more preferred punk albums.
The Mamas & The Papas
3/5
ZZ Top
4/5
4.5
Barry Adamson
3/5
Whole album is a giant trip. Varying range of styles - going from random funny monologue in Vermillion Kisses, to something kind of Nick Cave style in "Sweetest Embrace", to piano solos in Miles.
It's a cool album, would give it a second listen. 7/10
Radiohead
5/5
Rush
4/5
Classic prog rock sound, very grandiose in many cases. Limelight has a great guitar solo. Though I wouldn't give it a 5/5, something missing for me, or I just don't fully "get" this genre yet.
Ms. Dynamite
3/5
English R&B, yet has strong American influences. The first part of the album is quite good, definitely drops off and runs out of ideas slightly towards the end.
Tom Waits
3/5
Man took his morning voice and made an album with it
The Dandy Warhols
2/5
Unbelievably unremarkable
Joan Armatrading
5/5
Extremely soulful, powerful voice. Blues, funk, folk, soul all mixed into one album with different sounds emphasised in different tracks. (i.e. funk and blues in the last track). Overall an amazing album and deserves the 5.
Arrested Development
2/5
The Undertones
3/5
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
3/5
Last track is very cool
Dexys Midnight Runners
2/5
Living in the UK, I’ve heard come on Eileen too many times
Madonna
2/5
Roxy Music
3/5
3.5, good album, Favourite Tracks: Casanova, Thrill Of It All. Felt quite uplifting though didn't pay too close attention to the lyrics.
The Birthday Party
1/5
this is really really really bad
Joe Ely
3/5
Goldfrapp
2/5
feels like im in some fantasy movie? Not really the vibe I go for when I listen to music. 1.5
Bonnie Raitt
4/5
Nice bluesy/americana voice, perfect for the genre and overall a good album.
The xx
3/5
Think the voices complement each others very well to give quite a calming sound. Good album overall but abit basic, kind of sounds like 1975
Pet Shop Boys
2/5
This is what I think when I hear 80s synth pop, the first song is great but then seems quite repetitive in rhythm and song structure in general.
Suede
4/5
Upon first listen this has a lot of very complex and impressive tracks. Lots of sounds mixed together to create a big but not overwhelming sound. The Bowie influence is extremely obvious, especially in The Power.
Second listen is needed to better dive into the lyrics and themes. 4.5
Pink Floyd
5/5
One of my favorite albums of all time. Perfect from start to finish.
Doves
3/5
Some pretty good ambient/dreamy tones in this. Feels modern, feels like it could've been released anywhere between the 90s-now.
Oasis
5/5
Probably biased, but my favourite Oasis album. Raw rock sounds and distortion in Rock n Roll star Supersonic Columbia etc. Not too complex but everything works great, Live Forever + Slide Away + Married with children make the album more well-rounded.
Solange
3/5
2.5
Steely Dan
5/5
Jazz fusion at its very best, with instruments working extremely well together. The sax goes extremely well with piano/guitar parts. Walter Becker and Larry Carlton's guitar solos/phrasing is extremely smooth.
Dirty Projectors
3/5
The Mothers Of Invention
1/5
I have to apologise to Frank Zappa but I simply don’t get this one, random non-musical noises and vocals throughout.
I listened to this on a flight and there was a kid who shat himself screaming like he was being exorcised and I thought it was part of the album. (I wish this was a lie)
Coldplay
3/5
Peak Chris Martin, beautiful voice. 3.5
The Sonics
4/5
Very raw/rugged guitar and especially voice. He might just over use that "WWWAAAWOOOO" scream abit too much, but I still liked it as it fit in well with the album. Actually I'm currently listening to "Night time is the Right time" and it might just be too much. Drags it down from a 4 to 3.5.
Deerhunter
2/5
The Human League
2/5
These snyth pop albums sound quite boring to me, saves itself with the belter that is "Don't you want me" but other than that this album is quite disappointing. 1.5
Public Enemy
3/5
The Afghan Whigs
2/5
holy hell this guy down baaaddddd. Lyrics are too sobby which drags it down, but musically it's not too bad it has a garage rock feel to it. Last track the guitar + cello sound great together to get an ominous but big sound.
Traffic
4/5
Great instrumental to start the album, great use of the organ and keyboard throughout. Jazzy progressions with blues influenced solos. 4.5 but could’ve been 5
Motörhead
1/5
It's quite obvious at this point that I don't like heavy metal, either that or Motorhead is overrated.
Pulp
3/5
The Psychedelic Furs
2/5
Madonna
3/5
Not actually that bad, some funk/soul influences in there.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
Sorry mr Costello I was busy at work this was kind of just background noise. To be relistened.
Janelle Monáe
5/5
Playful basslines and strong vocals that cut through. Great mix of genres, including orchestral parts, rap, funk even some punk.
Sex Pistols
4/5
Ehi, noi ascoltavamo rap, lui i Sex Pistols. High intensity throughout, very influential so I’ll give it a 4. To be relistened.
Gary Numan
2/5
Another UK synth pop album, authors wildin (its not that bad, quite like the use of synth with more sustain to give an ambient sound, but still)
Ride
2/5
Mediocre, more noises than anything that makes me disconnect and gets me into the world of music. Or maybe that's just because I listened to it whilst working my 9-6.
XTC
2/5
Some parts of "Dying" remind me of early Floyd (I think?) especially with the vocals being quite dragged out and with the whiny/minor tones.
Overall quite unremarkable. I guess it tries to go for a psychedelic sound but dosen't quite get there in my opinion. Feels quite constipated throughout, lots of tension built up without too much resolution. (Just realised this is the band Karims friend, Lucy, suggested).
CHVRCHES
2/5
See the review for 2 albums below - essentially the same. More of a pop sound to this one and less reliant on the synth and more on the vocals (some nice duets), but overall not super interesting.
Iron Maiden
4/5
Insane guitar solos throughout, classic metal overdriven tone. Powerful vocals, overall a great metal album.
Tracy Chapman
4/5
Extremely realxing sound with powerful vocals.
George Jones
3/5
Nice bit of old country, makes me feel like I own a ranch in Nashville.
Todd Rundgren
3/5
Quite odd, not sure I get it
Van Morrison
5/5
One of the best live albums and for good reason. Distinct and powerful vocals throughout, great covers as well as originals. Guitar and keys on point throughout the album. Not much else to say.
Michael Jackson
4/5
Pop bangers only, P.Y.T. is feels underrated but is great. Slightly disappointment by the song with McCartney.
Curtis Mayfield
4/5
Needs a second listen with more attention to the lyrics (bleak lyrics about drug abuse) and not just the soulful voice and rhythms.
Liked the mix of instrumentals in this album, the vocals as mentioned are soulful with abit of jazz to it.
Christina Aguilera
3/5
She has quite a soulful voice, strong range too. Pleasantly surprised about this one! 3.5
Prince
4/5
Some amazing, timeless tracks in this one. Prince’s screaming vocals really stand out. 4.5, slightly let down by the non-classic tracks as they feel similar to songs like when the doves cry and purple rain just less perfect
GZA
2/5
Apparently meant to be one of the best lyrical journeys? Beats are meant to be innovative and interesting but I found it quite repetitive.
The Avalanches
3/5
Pretty good, feels good to have as background music. Has a lowfi feel to it, the electronic bits blend quite well. Some of the rap parts might've been slightly out of place.
2Pac
4/5
First 2Pac album I listen to, great album about the struggles of growing up in gangs. Also very good grooves and beats in most of the tracks.
Slightly drops off at the end but this is a very very good hip-hop album.
Kid Rock
1/5
This album gets ALOT of hate.. And I see why, it is extremely cheesy, musically uninteresting. It reminds me of some stuff MGK would make, perhaps the most generic pop-rock I've heard. 'only god knows why' is one of the worst tracks i've ever heard and only god knows why it has 70m streams.
I bopped abit to some songs and I'm quite guilty about it.. I guess I'll see you at Kid Rock's next concert, I'll be standing by the Lochness monster.
1.5
Baaba Maal
2/5
Lana Del Rey
4/5
Insane vocal range and uses it very well. Well-fitting for a cold winter day at home.
Nick Drake
2/5
Preferred the other Nick drake album, and think ones enough on this list tbh.
Bee Gees
4/5
Think this gets abit of hate for being plain. I didn't feel like it was, beautiful range of vocals, especially the high ends. A relaxing listen. 3.5
Depeche Mode
4/5
The gothic - kind of low and narrow ranged vocals somehow fit really well with the electronic beats. Very solid. 4.5
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
The Pharcyde
4/5
3.5
Simply Red
4/5
Lots of songs I would revisit, album is slightly messy in that the tone/feel is often changing. Despite this, lots of bangers which all have a slightly different genre feel to them, favourite tracks: Come to my aid/Sad old red/Jericho.
Youssou N'Dour
3/5
Pitche Mi is an amazing tune with jazz/african music blend, really enjoyed. The other tracks slightly less impressive
Supertramp
4/5
Amazing album, didn't know Supertramp made prog music like this. Majestic sound, especially in the last track that makes you feel like you're ascending into space. First 2 tracks are a good intro, the harmonic to start/end the album well used as well and in a different style that Im used to, adding another layer to the music. 4.5
Peter Frampton
4/5
Some of the songs sound very 90s despite this being recorded in the 70s. Classic live album, really enjoyed.
Radiohead
5/5
Overall great album, lots of interesting melody lines to give kind of a out-of-body vibe, some of the tracks are abit too down/gloomy for me and I didn't like the transition between house of cards - jigsaw falling into place. 3.5
The Yardbirds
4/5
The distorted tone with reverb associated with psychedelic rock and be heard throughout the album by Jeff Beck. Quite an innovative album for the 60s and alot of cool tracks.
The Residents
1/5
It's been a while since I got a completely shit album and it's come on Christmas day, excellent. From the mechanical screaming in "Constantinople", to the screeching in "The Booker Tease" and the whiny toned singing in "Blue Rosebuds". This album is truly shit there are no redeeming qualities, except for the fact that the agony only lasts 35 minutes as it's a relatively short album.
I'd imagine if a demon had a birthday they're play "Birthday Boy" at the party. I'd be surprised if this album wasn't included in a "let's just throw some pure garbage in there for fun and see if they notice" type situation.
My faith in music is once again, brutally damaged by an album on this list. Merry Christmas.
Weather Report
3/5
was expecting more, great first track but then the album gets a bit messy I think. No consistent theme to it. There was this part with some random shouting?
It's rated very highly though and I was listening to it whilst cleaning our greasy ass kitchen so deserves a second listen.
Radiohead
3/5
Don't think this is the best Radiohead album. Very trippy but after Knives out becomes abit too abstract for me to fully enjoy (maybe someone on crack will tell me otherwise). 3.5
Al Green
3/5
Classic soul album about love. Great but lacks the uniqueness and innovation for 4/5.
Elvis Presley
4/5
Short and sweet album about love, super strong voice from Elvis.
Steely Dan
4/5
Fun album, Rikki don’t lose that number, East St Louis toddle doo, monkey in your soul are all quite playful. Despite this the jazz and melodic lines still stand out.
FKA twigs
1/5
40 minutes of super high pitched/autotuned vocals sang over some wannabe acid/ambient techno?????
Death In Vegas
2/5
Pretty fun to listen to, though too many random noises throughout and overall pretty bad. Felt like they had tried to copy Nathan Fielder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6BNE62xGqE
1.5/5
Country Joe & The Fish
4/5
I found how they say “Lorraine” quite funny - entertaining/playful lyrics and a psychedelic sound to it emphasised the reverb and overdrive in the electric instruments (afterall, it’s electric music for the mind & body). Liked the use of the organ too. Solid album but misses on the 5, some weak tracks including the instrumental one imo
Justin Timberlake
1/5
Amy Winehouse
5/5
Very good mix between soul and R&B, vocals blend perfectly between genres and are quite versatile throughout the album. 4 or 5 timeless tracks on here as well. 4.5
Pink Floyd
5/5
Even though I like listening to Dark Side and WYWH more than this album, I somehow think it deserves to be rated more highly.
Amazing journey throughout the whole album (paired with the film) makes this an absolute masterpiece, not to mention one of the best guitar solos of all time. Truly a great performance by Pink, I think he'll make it big one day.
The Dictators
2/5
mid, but "I Got You Babe" is the same song as in Groundhog Day! (i'd pick a different song to wake up to every day but just noticing).
The Young Gods
1/5
Wow! This is terrible.
Honestly I don’t understand French that well but I just have an intuition that absolute cringey nonsense is being screamed at me. I also just had that black metal deep scream, especially since this is not even that genre.
The Libertines
3/5
Not a Britpop album, can hear the influences (in drumming style for example) of the Clash, as well as the Kinks in the vocals/guitars. However do think this is a very similar sound to the Strokes and is done probably slightly less well. 3.5
Grateful Dead
2/5
I'll be honest, I expected more from this album. Very average - blues-influenced dad rock. Some soft vocals which are nice but again nothing too special. Quite boring musically.
I know Grateful Dead is much more known for their live stuff so I need to give it a go.
Alice Cooper
3/5
Solid album, quite random lyrics and your typical album. The trombone, keys and guitar work extremely well in Blue Turk, and the Instrumental track to end is quite grandiose.
Simple Minds
2/5
Television
4/5
Not the strongest of starts I thought, but from Marquee Moon onwards it's all 5/5 tracks. A lot of the time feels like a jam that's turned into a song, which is great. Great guitar solos throughout the album as well.
Pixies
2/5
1 meme song (and I can't even remember the meme format it goes with).. the rest are not that impressive. Why do I even bother with the review they'll all be about the album cover anyways. 2/5
Leonard Cohen
3/5
Great lyricist, deserves a second listen. Overall a beautiful album, though I might prefer the other album of his on this list. 3.5
Milton Nascimento
5/5
Amazing vocals, can feel the emotion in the voice. Highs and lows in terms of energy throughout the album, great listen. 4.5
Sparks
2/5
it's unique, but it's bad.
Holger Czukay
3/5
very artsy
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
Enjoyed more than the come on Eileen album, especially the horns.
Aimee Mann
2/5
Some nice melodies and riffs but overall a very mid pop album.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
1/5
yo i'm atheist
R.E.M.
3/5
SAULT
2/5
Good message, boring music.
Christine and the Queens
3/5
Some interesting melodies and vocals
Love
5/5
4.5, brilliant album from start to finish. Good blend between folk and psychedelic rock. Great use of the strings throughout as well, gives a few tracks a very orchestral sound.
Paul Simon
4/5
Playful album, the lyrics are quite simple but all songs tell a story. Think this also shows Paul's vocal range/adaptability, as well as some cool guitar licks.
Green Day
2/5
Less energy and less creative than American idiot imo.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
1/5
unintelligible garbage 1.5
Elvis Costello
3/5
Afrika Bambaataa
3/5
The Blue Nile
3/5
As described, this was an ambient album. This is however one of the better ones I've heard and includes some nice vocals.
Brian Wilson
3/5
Always like listening to cool projects like these. 3.5
Alice Cooper
3/5
Second listen needed.
Calexico
3/5
trippy, feels a bit all over the place but not in a bad way. Moods and tones shift alot through the album.
Deserves a second listen
3.5
Eurythmics
3/5
strong start, but fell off slightly. Did like the use of the synth for once. 3.5
Hanoi Rocks
4/5
Pretty cool 80s rock album - the Finnish know how to rock. (plus a song dissing south London is always extra nice). 3.5
Tangerine Dream
1/5
Absolutely terrible, had to lower the speaker volume to avoid embarrassment, how do I even explain listening to these random noises...
It's not even background noise, it's worse.
Public Enemy
2/5
Sounds basically the same as the other public enemy album.
Nightmares On Wax
2/5
First track is a banger (especially with Passin' me by mixed in), but the album gets abit repetitive fast. The use of the African influenced instruments isn't done very well imo and overall just dragged on way too long (why 1hr+??). 1.5
Butthole Surfers
1/5
From the title of the album and name of the artist, I admittedly was not expecting much.
However, I was pleasantly surprised as in reality, I immediately saw the relevance of the word 'abortion' in the title; in that this album should be aborted off the face of this earth for no ears to ever have to suffer through ever again. (last 2 tracks are not horrendous but not enough to save it)
2/5
admittedly I zoned out trying to book a flight... may need a second listen.
Nick Drake
4/5
Better than Bryter Layter in my opinion, I remember correctly this one is more interesting and diverse musically. Liked the Cello Song and Three hours, do think his voice gets slightly repetitive and there shouldn't be 3 Nick Drake albums on this list. With that said... this one's pretty good.
Rufus Wainwright
1/5
NPC music - first track and some others vaguely remind me of Black Country new road. 1.5
Metallica
4/5
I was debugging code, this gave me the strength to continue. Slightly geared towards pop, not too harsh which is also nice. Strong album with a few hits.
Supergrass
4/5
High energy album with a lot of cool riffs.
Silver Jews
3/5
Decent but lyrics are pretty terrible.
Astor Piazzolla
3/5
Some vibraphone action.. Not often do you see that. Nice jazzy tunes overall, missing some of the tango energy I think.
Also not often I listen to a master of ...bandoneon. 2.5 (rounded up for respect).
ZZ Top
3/5
Reminds me alot of KISS, less bluesy elements in this ZZ top album and more high energy/pinch harmonics/strong basslines.
Nothing like 'Bad Girl' to finish off the album on International women day..
Happy Mondays
4/5
nice bit of noise, wheres the ket?
Missy Elliott
2/5
Pantera
3/5
Massive Attack
2/5
Worse than the first album I listened to, felt less interesting and more 'plain', still not too bad. 2.5.
Röyksopp
2/5
1.5
Jacques Brel
3/5
Barely understand the lyrics, yet I know they’re beautiful (I’m drunk writing this)
George Harrison
4/5
Wide range of songs going from McCartney diss to emotional songs to 3 blues jams to end the album. Very lengthy album but went by faster than I expected, many beautiful songs in this.
David Ackles
2/5
Some weird American Nick Cave. 1.5
Marvin Gaye
4/5
Perfect album to chill to.
Lenny Kravitz
4/5
Can hear:
Elements of funk in the beats,
Soul in the voice,
Blues in the instruments.
Overall a very good album, an easy listen. Perhaps the lyrics could be improved.
The Mothers Of Invention
2/5
Another "The Mothers of Invention" album... Was I excited? Curious? Worried? Anxious? The answer is yes. As my most popular negative review (https://1001albumsgenerator.com/reviews/6549b9db2a9d735a211f553c) was in fact on another album by the band.
As fate would have it, I had a flight to Milan soon after I got this album so I decided to save it for the flight to match my previous listening experience. This time no screaming babies on the flight (a couple of kids but both well-behaved), perhaps this was foreshadowing the listening I was about to have, as this album is significantly more listenable than the last one.
With that said, I don't think it's a great album, musically it's not that interesting. A lot of that twangy guitar tone I kind of associate with bad avant-garde music. A lot of random 'talk singing' throughout, most of it bad. Though I would say 'Trouble Everyday' is a very cool song, rapping over experimental rock + 2 cool solos featuring harmonica and guitar.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
2/5
Dennis Wilson
4/5
Never knew of Dennis Wilson, or his part in founding the beach boys.
Think this is a strong album, some good build ups and intense tracks, as well as some more mellow tunes. His voice sounds good throughout and has more emotion in my opinion than the lead beach boys singer.
The Monks
3/5
I heard elements that sound like the doors. Overall quite a fun album, liked the blues influence too, apparently one of the first “punk” albums.. but unfortunately not the last (especially on this list) 3.5
Dwight Yoakam
2/5
It's almost trying too hard to be a country album, if that makes any sense at all. (pls give me a good album i'm on such a bad streak)
U2
2/5
Dusty Springfield
3/5
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
Money trees rly is the only place for shade these days. 4.5
Leftfield
2/5
I don't know why but it made me anxious. Like there's build-up without release. 1.5.
Foo Fighters
3/5
2.5
The Only Ones
4/5
Pretty good, gaslit by critics into giving it a 4. But second listen for sure.
Scissor Sisters
3/5
Don’t know what I expected, but definitely not a pop/funk/electro remix of comfortably numb to be in there.. both blasphemy and cool at the same time.
Overall abit TOO upbeat of an album with very shallow lyrics (except CN but that doesn’t count). Fun listen either way.
Einstürzende Neubauten
1/5
From Wikipedia:
One of their trademarks is the use of custom-built instruments, predominantly made out of scrap metal and building tools, and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Their early albums were unremittingly harsh, with Bargeld's vocals shouted and screamed above a din of banging and scraping metal percussion.
Need I say more? This album is a cruel joke to see how horrifically bad these noises can get for people to consider it as music. This is beyond torture music, this is the music that greets you at the gates of hell, clicking 1 star pains me as this is a complete 0/10.
Sigur Rós
4/5
Pretty dreamy stuff.. could go to sleep with this. 3.5
David Bowie
3/5
More theatrical style of signing with lower range than some of his other albums. Cool
Bobby Womack
3/5
3.5
Aerosmith
3/5
David Gray
3/5
3.5, powerful vocals. Feel like it initially incorporates more electronic tones but gradually shifts to more traditional folk style singing with a guitar.
Kraftwerk
1/5
No melodies, the most robotic and repetitive rhythms with no feel or emotion whatsoever.
Seems like something a robot civilisation would play as they invade Earth.
Lorde
3/5
Strong voice with a wide range, first few songs were very good. The layering/harmonising(?) gets abit repetitive throughout.
System Of A Down
1/5
the start of the last track sounds like the start of welcome to the jungle by GNR. That's really all I have to say.
M.I.A.
1/5
You know the saying, “you can go your whole life without drinking water”, because you’ll just die at the end?
I sometimes feel that when listening to 1001 albums before I die, cause if I keep getting these dogshit albums I’m not going to make it to the end.
Adam & The Ants
1/5
Not good, I swear Im getting so many 1/5 albums algo be nice to me pls.
The Clash
3/5
Incubus
2/5
Not a fan of this emo metal, cringy lyrics and feels like losing an element of metal
Frank Zappa
5/5
Jazz standard, blues/psychedelic rock, 15 minute long jams. Everything about this album is great, it feels very advanced for when it was released.
Joanna Newsom
3/5
A nice surprise as I discovered I did listen to this already for this challenge (on youtube) and just forgot to rate it.
Remember reading it had insanely good lyrics, It deserves a second listen as I do remember some of parts, however the music it self was slightly underwhelming.
M.I.A.
1/5
Not music, so bad couldn’t finish it.
Syd Barrett
3/5
He was tripping just abit too hard when he made this, Syd is a legend regardless and you can see it in some of these tracks. But overall a bit too incoherent and messy for me.
Shuggie Otis
3/5
Gotan Project
4/5
Very interesting, deserves a second listen. Good use of string instruments throughout to give the tango feel and a strange mix between jazz and electronic. 3.5
Harry Nilsson
3/5
Aretha Franklin
4/5
As usual Aretha Franklin does not disappointed. Jazzy chords and powerful singing that takes over. 4.5
Elvis Presley
4/5
The Who
3/5
3.5
Klaxons
3/5
Very high energy, some good tracks in there.
White Denim
3/5
I zoned out for most so idk
Rufus Wainwright
4/5
Beautiful voice, can see the opera influence. 3.5
Mercury Rev
3/5
2.5
Johnny Cash
5/5
His age here adds a layer of melancholy to his voice (or maybe he's just fucking sad). Either way, this is a brilliant album, 4.5.
Everything But The Girl
3/5
Tracks are all essentially some solemn 'oh no he/she is gone I miss them' type love/melancholy tune. Some interesting accompanying rhythms throughout, especially in the second half of the album.
Amy Winehouse
3/5
Fela Kuti
4/5
Great, though I was doing leetcode so didn't listen too well. Second listen 100%. 3.5
The Slits
1/5
It feels like she’s just mumbling out of tune the whole time?? I don’t get this album honestly, and don’t like the shake/vibrato she puts on her voice.
Apparently has some Jamaican influence, I’d argue they’re not good ones.
John Lee Hooker
3/5
3.5
Terence Trent D'Arby
4/5
Elements of the vocals and drums reminds me of Prince, but has its own feel too, good album.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
5/5
Voice hits all the right notes, also notably hitting great microtones throughout the album. A great display of soothing and technical vocals. Amazing album and great discovery.
The Gun Club
3/5
Energetic and a fun listen, better than the average punk album on here. 3.5
Burning Spear
2/5
Billy Joel
5/5
Somehow only ever heard 1 Billy Joel song, despite countless pop culture references.
I see why he's talked about so much, beautiful album. Melodic piano with soothing vocals that don't get boring overtime. Songs are nice and tell a story.
PJ Harvey
3/5
Nice relaxing listen, can listen to her for ages and not get too bored. Preferred Stories From the City album, but I was hungover when I listened to that so need to second listen it. This one gets 3.5
The Beta Band
3/5
Quite unique in mixing styles - result is interesting but not too noteworthy I think. 2.5
Fatboy Slim
3/5
Dr. Dre
3/5
The 20$ sack pyramid is hilarious
Haircut 100
3/5
funky
Spacemen 3
2/5
Mostly ambient sounds and tunes, not too bad but don’t think it’s too special. A slightly improvement over purely ambient tracks
The Strokes
4/5
4.5, an extremely good album. High energy and gives me a nostalgic vibe
Buffalo Springfield
3/5
Zoned out but think it's quite good, deserves a second listen. Gives me similar vibes to Trafalgar by Bee Gees but this might be a bit far fetched.
Justice
3/5
3.5, didn't know D.A.N.C.E was from them.
The Byrds
3/5
Paul McCartney and Wings
5/5
I think this is the first band Paul forms after leaving the Beatles? Can hear the influence from the Beatles, but the album remains original, with many bangers throughout.
Jimi Hendrix
4/5
Different - more psychedelic and experimental compared to Electric Ladyland, which I felt was also more hard rock and intense. Either way has some amazing tunes and deserves a high score. 4.5.
Soul II Soul
4/5
I like the blend of hip hop and R&B, the African instrumentals keep it interesting, and the flute stuff in “African dance” is just amazing.
Keith Jarrett
5/5
Learnt from the wiki page the piano used was small and suboptimal (lacking in bass).
Does not show however in the album, beautiful piano, upbeat and intense improv runs. Liked the change in tempo and styles throughout the tracks and album/
Ice T

1/5
Imagine the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, 8.0 magnitude, unexpected, and violent; but in a room full of instruments (especially saxophones).
This is what this album sounds like, with the only difference being if exposed to the poor unexpecting province of Sichuan you'd have many more casualties than the 87,587 registered by the earthquake.
Peter Gabriel
2/5
Cheesy lyrics throughout with a lof of repetition, didn't enjoy too much. Voice is okay but doesn't carry that much emotion for me, 2.5.
Kraftwerk
1/5
This is horrific, it’s like ambient music but makes me uncomfortable instead of relaxed.
The Waterboys
4/5
Good bit of folk, I guess the Irish influence can be heard from me mostly through the violin bits (very good in the second track).
Very Dylan-esque first track, interesting take on Blackbird too.
The Incredible String Band
1/5
Incredibly shit, lots of (as I found out) North African AND Indian instruments like the sitar (too present I think) and gimbri. Trying to hard to be psychedelic/different.
Screaming Trees
3/5
3.5
Derek & The Dominos
5/5
For me this is one of the best blues rock albums. So much emotion in each song, both through the vocals and instrumental soloing. Clapton at his best, this album is much more than just LAYYYYYLAAAAA
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Amazing, still find it difficult to give longer albums 5/5, though this is a very strong album throughout. Variety and interesting riffs/rhythms.
Elliott Smith
3/5
Good, but why he whispering all the time?
Sugar
2/5
Couple of tracks in the middle very much annoying 90s pop rock sounding, which I guess makes sense since this is.. a 90s rock album.
Tom Waits
2/5
ey yo he yapping again. 1.5 just for the jazzy baselines and interesting concept - but it's still quite shit.
Metallica
4/5
Great album, and I think they were ~20 years old when they wrote this? What a joke I was learning power chords.
Germs
1/5
The Go-Betweens
2/5
Tim Buckley
4/5
Very interesting and unexpected album, combining elements of funk/psych/folk/indie/r&b. Fun mix, wouldn't say it sounds too 'serious' if that makes sense, but a good combination of tracks. 4.5
Judas Priest
3/5
Surprised to check the listens and see it's so popular. Though it could make sense as it seems quite accessible for metal, didn't impress me too much in terms of originality/uniqueness compared to other metal albums.
David Crosby
4/5
3.5
Barry Adamson
2/5
That first track + a quiet walk in the forest at night = recipe for a heart attack.
King Crimson
4/5
Epic, impressive that this was recorded in the 60s. Maybe a bit too much flute in the second track. Classic prog rock drumming throughout the album which is very prominent. 4.5
The Beach Boys
4/5
Beach boys have a wider range than I previously thought. Innovative for an album in the early 70s, feels it has components of psych rock but different than the usual 60s/70s style. Deserves a second listen.
Radiohead
4/5
Let me start off by saying I began listening to this on the wrong spin speed on the record player (33 instead of 45rpm), and it took me a full SIX TRACKS to realise.
Until then I was mostly thinking hm, strange of Thom to put this effect on his voice.. when in reality it was me listening to the album in slow motion which made him sound like some sci-fi final boss.
Why even write reviews, I'm clearly an imposter who knows nothing about music. Anyway, pretty good album!
Cypress Hill
3/5
Iron Maiden
5/5
Very good, I like this kind of metal with intelligible vocals that isn’t just someone
killing their vocal chords.
Prominent bass throughout stood out abit for me.
Ray Charles
3/5
After Layla and Other Assorted Love songs, now another collection of love songs, quite nice, slower pace. 3.5
Frank Sinatra
4/5
Gentle album, bossanova with Frank's vocals, what's not to like. Would've liked to hear more of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Elastica
3/5
Very recognisable and classic punk rock basslines, album has a more britpop feel to it at the start, especially with Connection (banger) but slightly fades out as album goes on.
Stan Getz
5/5
Masterful sax, outshines the guitar. The jazzy basslines and samba rhythms make this a masterpiece.
The Thrills
2/5
very basic american pop band sound.
Tom Waits
2/5
Ffs why is there so much Tom Waits. 1.5
Mudhoney
3/5

Richard Thompson
3/5
Grant Lee Buffalo
4/5

John Grant
3/5
Trippy stuff,
would listen again.
A melancholy filled album with some nice piano, songs go from quite dark to goofy with silly lyrics. 3.5
Hookworms
3/5
Interesting album, can't quite figure out the vibe its going for but it switches between rock/shoegaze/krautrock.
Beatles
5/5
Every song is a banger, released in 1965 it sounds way way ahead of its time. (i.e. progression in Michelle).
Very easy 5/5.
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
They're trying to look 60s with that album cover
PJ Harvey
2/5
She's just whining and shouting for most of the album?
Neneh Cherry
3/5
2.5
Malcolm McLaren
3/5
Some werid shit, interesting bit of hip hop but combined with the Caribbean influences makes it sound very unique. Cool to find out eminem samples from this. Could second listen.
Hole

3.5
Big Brother & The Holding Company
3/5
3.5, deserves a second listen. Soulful showing of Joplin’s voice accompanied by quite standard bluesy licks and solos. Overall a nice album.
Kelela
3/5
The Vines
2/5
Pretty generic rock album, some nirvana influences can be heard (I.e. last track) 2.5
The Jam
3/5
2.5
Def Leppard
3/5
Feels like British KISS (at least this album, albeit less about love).
Pop metal confuses me, feels abit commercial at times, album is overall not bad but lacks abit of originality.
Fred Neil
4/5
Didn’t know about him beforehand. Great album, last track seems abit out of place and sounds abit Middle Eastern almost.
Nice smooth lyrics, reminds me slightly of Leonard cohen but Fred’s abit more soothing I think.
R.E.M.
2/5
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
3.5, feels like the classic 80s American rock. Kind of reminds me of Neil young (I thought it was one of his albums for a sec).
His vocals are clearly talented and quite prominent throughout the whole album.
Fleet Foxes
4/5
Lots of falsetto and harmonising throughout the album, lively first half then slightly toned down. Great listen. 7.5/10
Frank Sinatra
3/5
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
Q-Tip
3/5
Cool interesting bit of hip hop. Feels like some Beck tracks where he focuses on hip hop. Lots of sound effects and such used quite well. 3.5

The Verve
4/5
Some bitter-sweet britpop.
Second listen needed.

Bebel Gilberto
3/5
Didn't know Joao's daughter could sing this well too. More mellow and less jazzy tunes compared to her father but still a good, relaxing album.
The Cramps
1/5
It’s shit, but I’m really liking covers of “Fever” by Little Wille John!! 1.5
Carole King
5/5
Incredibly nice voice, very catchy album that’s strong throughout. Good use of the piano throughout and liked the harmonising in some later tracks.
Fugazi
2/5
U2
4/5
Favourite U2 album so far
Spiritualized
2/5
Abit too slow for me, without the unique feel to their other album on this list. I don’t need a track where it’s just spacey noises.
Bad Brains
4/5
High energy, intense rock album. Short but sweet 3.5.
Leonard Cohen
2/5
You smoking too much Leonard.
Hüsker Dü

I hate this style where they end the sentence on a strong emphasis. “Blah blah blah blahblahBLAHBALH BALHHHHHH”
Deep Purple
5/5
Great quality in this live album, the energy on the stage is captured so well. Amazing organ and harmonica bits throughout, as well as improv and jamming over their tracks.
Run-D.M.C.
2/5
Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
3/5
One of the most random albums I’ve listened to. All different kinds of influences made me feel like I was changing albums constantly. Not sure what to think about it..
David Bowie
4/5
One of the Berlin trilogy albums. This one more ambient and Brian Eno was involved in the production.
Do like the more rock-style songs in the album, the ambient tracks are also relaxing but maybe the shift between the two style of songs is slightly big. Nonetheless more accessible as an album compared to Low.
The Who
4/5

The Who

Rod Stewart

Nice bit of country mixed with some pop.
John Martyn
4/5
These are new sounds to me, and I'm surprised this was released in the 70s (feel like it's not the first time I say this).
I had 'The Man In The Station" saved previously and was pleasantly surprised to find similar-sounding tracks with enough differences to keep it interesting. 4.5
The Specials
3/5
Idk what that was but it was interesting, definitely deserves a second listen. 3.5
Blue Cheer

Strong album, unique style which is labelled as reggae but clearly differs from the traditional genre.
Billy Bragg
3/5
Super Furry Animals

Not too bad, a mixed bag. From electronic to more mellow soft rock beats. Didn't like the heavy metal bits too much but did like how the piano was used together with the electronic bits.
New York Dolls

Wilco
4/5
Second listen for sure, beautifully mellow album with some heavy riffs mixed in to create a unique feel.

Not too bad, synth beats used in a quite funky and playful way. Some tracks are quite repetitive (the last for example) and abit boring.
4/5
Can hear that it's musically involved and diverse, the guitar and piano background makes for what I associate is the classic prog rock sound.
I perhaps need to listen more times, to me the instruments aren't clicking together as perfectly as I would expect a famous album like this to. 3.5
Megadeth
4/5
Face is melted.
Flamin' Groovies
2/5
Average blues rock album
Morrissey
2/5
I feel like morrissey albums are capped at average..
Public Image Ltd.
1/5
Hope it's the last issue also.
Elliott Smith
4/5
More diverse than Either/Or, classic rock-sounding tracks, I feel like I heard some jazzy chords/progressions in a couple of tracks too which is nice (might be tripping).
Bob Dylan
4/5
Bobby sing us some bluesss
TV On The Radio
3/5
a bit too messy at times, with a similar pop rock vibe to Panic at the Disco (I think, I'm not actually sure I don't listen to either).
Skunk Anansie
4/5
Deserves a second listen but the female lead does a great job at being dynamic and emotional.
Ghostface Killah
2/5
Quite boring hip hop following similar patterns of standard verses followed by high pitched chorus/riff. 2.5
Suzanne Vega
4/5
Another calming female lead, maybe reminds me of Joni Mitchell but it’s been a while since I’ve listened to her.
Sonic Youth
2/5
Fun guitar riff in the first track 2.5
Os Mutantes
2/5
Innovative, but quite shit
Siouxsie And The Banshees
1/5
cool album cover, terrible album.
Fiona Apple
4/5
This is the definition of artsy music.
Kings of Leon
3/5
2.5
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Pulp
4/5
Surprised I hadn’t heard of them before, great discovery, lots of fun tracks (need a closer listen to the lyrics apparently they’re funny). Banger. 8.5/10
Nirvana
4/5
An all time classic, gets abit too messy around “On A Plain” I think. But I do like the energy and influence this album has.
Devendra Banhart
4/5
Beautiful album, I hear some experimental aspects that differs it from other folk/chill albums. Would give a higher rating but needs a second listen 4/5.
The Fall
1/5
Ruined my morning
Talvin Singh
2/5
Don’t like this blend of (Indian?) instruments with electronic music.
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Has that country twang that I associate with early stones. IMO they don't solidify their style (the one I prefer) till later.
Wilco
3/5
3.5
Robert Wyatt
3/5
Not a fan of the vocals throughout the album - this kind of half talking style lyrics. However it has some interesting instrumental bits that stand out to me.
The Saints
3/5
One of the better punk rock albums I’ve heard on here. 3.5
Slade
2/5
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
8.5
Tim Buckley
2/5
Why so many Tim Buckley albums?? Last time I remember I gave it a 4 and got cooked because apparently the lyrics were misogynistic..
Not catching me make that mistake again (plus this one's pretty shit anyway)
2/5
Was hoping the Brazilian theme gets explored abit more. But didn’t feel a strong presence other than the first few tracks.
John Cale
3/5
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
4/5
I didn't listen carefully, so it's difficult to understand. But seems to tell a story, simply with the way the songs are sung.
Delicate and intricate salsa. 4.5
Marvin Gaye
4/5
Queen
4/5
Unique sound with Freddie's vocals standing out and arguably one of the best songs of all time on the album too.
Rock album that sounds orchestral like this is very cool. 4.5
The Offspring
2/5
Cheesy lyrics and I don't like the prolonged whining scream they do.
New Order
4/5
Chaotic and noisy, but the sounds work well together. I think new order is especially good at doing this. Solid album
3/5
Overuses abit the echo/reverb vocals, but I guess that’s the vibe this album tries to go for.
Brian Eno
3/5
3.5
Megadeth
4/5
Almost every track rips a solo that’ll melt your face
Wild Beasts
3/5
Lots of echo and reverb, lighthearted album.
Eagles
4/5
Stephen Stills
4/5
lovely album, good displays of vocals such as in the last track. But also some unique/playful tracks like Go Back Home that explore using other instruments to get its sound. (Just saw on wiki that jimi played the guitar on Old Times Good Times!)
Steely Dan
4/5
More rock than jazz compared to their other albums. Not a fan of their lyrics but a good shift from their usual style. 3.5
Soundgarden
4/5
Same sound from audioslave.. then I realise it’s the same singer. I really like the shouting/screaming vocals as the pitch remains constant and voice doesn’t break. Overall great album.
Soft Cell
3/5
Synth pop album, this list just knows how to surprise eh.
Sarcasm aside, the first 3 tracks were genuinely enjoyable, switching up styles with the sax and clarinet, plus a banger which I didn’t know was from them! 3.5
Paul Simon
5/5
Finally got around to listening to this on the record player.
Interesting blend between African and pop music, especially in Homeless. Some extremely catchy tunes like You Can Call Me Al and Graceland. Great lyrics that feel like a friend telling me about the small dramas and stories of their life. Top album.
Goldie
1/5
Let's dig into some possible explanations for the title of this album:
Possible storyline: The shitness of this album breaks the space-time continuum, breaking the laws of physics and time as we know it. All that remains is this album echoing throughout the ruins of the universe. Timeless.
Alternate suggestion: naming it Endless instead of Timeless, cause it's so long and terrible it seems like it never ends.
I couldn't finish it.
Electric Light Orchestra
4/5
Mj Cole
2/5
Incredibly average.. though I liked the few tracks with some R&B mixed in.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
Diamonds in the mine probably should single-handedly bring down the rating of this album. Overall it’s not bad but not the best Cohen album I’ve heard on here.
Skepta
4/5
Quanto British è sto album
The Auteurs
2/5
Johnny Cash
4/5
It’s like I’m in prison!
Sufjan Stevens
5/5
Listened to this beforehand on a 'music night'. Masterpiece of an album, amazing use of the orchestra to create a majestic feel to the album. I feel like I'm floating and on a journey when I listen to this.
Fun to find out the meaning of the tracks in relation to Illinois, not so fun to listen to some of the lyrics.
Elton John
3/5
3.5 I feel like any early Elton album is at least this good just from his voice.. Piano parts feel perhaps slightly repetitive but the vocals drag this up.
Sonic Youth
2/5
2.5, went by quick on a dark November morning.
Cocteau Twins
2/5
1.5
Can
3/5
First track was promising, seemed unique and a good go at experimental/ambient music.
I think it slightly dies off and the last 20min track is a slight disappointment.
Fats Domino
3/5
OG rock and roll - why is it always swing?
Black Sabbath
3/5
Cool that this was released in 1970, feels that this sound is way ahead of its time. Although I feel like they are still 'taking shape' and fully growing into their style. Still solid, 3.5.
10cc
2/5
This album was mid, idk if they just release playful songs and accidentally release a banger once in a while. 2.5
Norah Jones
4/5
Hard to get bored of her vocals throughout this album.
Frank Sinatra
4/5
Felt more like one continuous song rather than an album. A consistent nostalgic/regretful/romantic feeling throughout that pairs very well with Sinatra’s voice.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Relaxing listen guided by Mr Garfunkel’s soothing voice.
MGMT
4/5
Wire
4/5
Quite good as far as the punk rock I’ve heard so far. Quite British in terms of sound, catchy tunes. 3.5
The Band
4/5
Lead singer has some soul in his voice, it’s a good combination with the country mood of the whole album. I’d listen again, I feel like this could very well be an album in the late 80s yet it was released in the 60s.
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
3/5
3.5 deserves a second listen.
The Style Council
4/5
Fun jazzy themes throughout. Some country mixed in there too I feel like. 3.5 just because as some other comments say I think it lacks a bit of soul.
k.d. lang
3/5
Def Leppard
3/5
Don’t like this pop metal stuff (or whatever you call it). It’s like a worse version of KISS with cheesier vocals + less impressive instrumentals.
Ryan Adams
4/5
Great lyrics and solo display. will give a second listen. Good mid-energy album to have on as it spans a few genres and doesn't get boring or repetitive.
Jimmy Smith
4/5
I don't know exactly what it is but it feels more modern than the date suggests, I like it. Not the usual jazz, feels more smooth with fewer notes and scales.
My Bloody Valentine
4/5
An example of noise rock/dreamy rock I can get behind, the muffled sound pairs well with the vocals and it's not too messy for it to be unpleasant.
Also, album cover perfectly represents the record.
Ali Farka Touré
3/5
I suspect I’ve listened to it before but forgot to rate it.
The tempo is consistently slow without much changing throughout the album, they use some traditional instruments (which have similarities to Indian ones I think) too I think and manage to get a good tribal sound.
Dinosaur Jr.
3/5
Duke Ellington
5/5
Beautiful jazz, didn’t listen to the extended version but worth a listen.
Energetic and groovy, keeps you entertained throughout.
The Smiths
3/5
Not bad, feels like one big song? Maybe morissey’s vocals are just a bit distinct.
The Cult
3/5
This is a rock album.
G. Love & Special Sauce
3/5
Interesting album, though I’m not be a huge fan of the rapping style, I liked some other aspects like the use of the double bass and jazzy bass lines.
Super Furry Animals
3/5
The Roots
3/5
No idea these Jimmy Fallon fools have such a long history.. they manage to somehow sound very white, but the album is not too bad. Interesting musical bits with some varied rapping styles.
Sonic Youth
2/5
Beck
3/5
Completely different style, with this clearly being a breakup album with more sentimental lyrics (albeit abit cliche).
Liked it but not sure if I’d listen again as it feels somewhat generic
Big Black
2/5
Maybe in a crowded overheated room full of drunk maniacs.
The Teardrop Explodes
3/5
Raekwon
3/5
Apparently started mafioso rap subgenre and was very influential to hip-hop.
Quite cool, I should really actively listen more to these hip-hop albums.
Cocteau Twins
3/5
Has more streams than I expected, a good calming album, 3.5.
Beastie Boys
3/5
Whitest rapping I’ve heard, not too bad mixing in some rock influences but probably wouldn’t listen again.
OutKast
4/5
Solid listen, many interesting tracks with samples, or jazz melodies. I don’t like his voice too much actually now that I think of it, but hey it’s only a 2 hour 15 min long album. 3.5
Hole
3/5
Good to have a female lead in these type of grunge bands, and some point especially when she does an extended scream it sounds quite raspy and almost a female version of Kurt..
Lacks abit of character in the voice regardless so giving this a 3 (probably will be 2.8 worldwide)
Dolly Parton
3/5
Nice album about love and heartbreak, maybe cause I didn't actively listen but Dolly's vocals stand out by far the most. 3.5
The Divine Comedy
3/5
Not bad, imposing and deep voice throughout the album. Lyrics not that serious which contrasts a bit.
I saved the first two tracks though they’re probably least representative.
Beastie Boys
3/5
2.5/5
Todd Rundgren
3/5
Slayer
2/5
Django Django
4/5
Pretty cool style with the echoey vocals. Interesting music and instrumentals too
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
Sleater-Kinney
3/5
her voice is very indie
fIREHOSE
2/5
The Beta Band
3/5
2.5
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
2/5
heads will roll though
The Cardigans
2/5
To be honest, her voice is very annoying. And it gets increasingly bad throughout until the point you can’t take it anymore. I will give it a 2 because lovefool is just too catchy and the tracks have some catchy rhythms to them.
Marvin Gaye
3/5
Can't take the first track seriously, rest of the album is solid and classic marvin gaye. More focused on his vocals and perhaps less unique than some of his other albums but still solid. 3.5
Julian Cope
4/5
Cool mix of styles, with alot of nice buildups. Don’t know if this counts as prog but noticed some elements of it. Almost a 4.5 I’d say
The Lemonheads
2/5
Ozomatli
3/5
Kind of messy, doesn’t stick too much to one theme. Does have some Spanish hits though which was unexpected.
A Tribe Called Quest
2/5
Really dull and monotonous beats. Doesn’t feel like the bars have a lot of energy or creativity behind them. 1.5
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Not the best stones album imo. Still quite solid 3.5
Gang Of Four
1/5
This sucks, also hate when they add distortion but with no sustain to just sound like pure noise or something breaking. (Idk how to describe this sound)
Mylo
3/5
Nice bit of mellow house, like the piano’s involvement but think some tracks are too repetitive.
The Clash
4/5
Not sure what genre this counts as, but it’s a fresh listen that feels “light hearted” in the way it’s written and sang.
Great album for a weekday feeling up and in a good mood.
Grizzly Bear
4/5
Hard to describe this album, I felt engaged and felt each track had a slight different idea whilst sticking to the general feel of the album. Quite nice, could see myself putting this on during a late night
Beyoncé
2/5
Too many pauses in the music, overall abit repetitive
The Cure
4/5
Very good listen, a soothing undertone which works well with his vocals. Liked it much more than the vibe in 'friday im in love'. Think they work better with this slower tempo.
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
3/5
Accidentally started listening to the extended version (don't recommend..). Though the original issue isn't too bad, much much more accessible than Trout Mask Replica. Though this is more of a standard blues/country blues style album.
Travis
3/5
very cliche indie/acoustic sound. Feel like some of Coldplay’s songs at times.
I just googled it and Coldplay were influenced by them, so.. makes sense.
Steve Earle
3/5
Lupe Fiasco
3/5
Pop rap.. Kind of like the outkast style, I do like it but don't love this mixture of rap. Maybe it sounds 'inauthentic' but it's also unfair to say that.
Eels
3/5
I’m aware this is a band but it sounds like it’s made by one dude in his basement who has never seen daylight.
Beautiful freak is probably about the poor prisoner he has in his basement..
Good album though. 3.5
The Pogues
1/5
This is annoying, and its also shit.
a-ha
3/5
Take oonnnnn meeeeeee TAKEEEE MEEEEE OOOONNNNNNMN (great music video for anyone reading this that hasn’t seen it yet).
John Martyn
3/5
Good, not as interesting as Solid Air IMO, but some good tracks. Last song made me feel like I am the only being on earth and floating on a calm ocean away from everything.
Album cover reminds me of on an island by David Gilmour!
Bob Dylan
5/5
Amazing album, Dylans voice goes so well with the instrumentals here. Combining blues with the rock drive it sounds very refreshing. Lyrics are also great as always and deserves a second listen.
Soft Machine
3/5
1h20m.. 4 tracks. That’s you know you’re in for some weird shit. Liked it, quite unique and can see it being abit of a trip. 3.5
Bob Dylan
3/5
I think this was great, embarrassingly this was mostly background music. Second listen needed. Probably a 4 but I give 3 because I didn’t hear anything.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
3.5
The Adverts
2/5
Missy Elliott
2/5
Feels like inauthentic hip hop trying to get attention
Bill Callahan
4/5
Me too Bill.. me too.
Great voice, similar to Nick cave expect much more soothing. Last couple of tracks weren’t great but really liked everything else. 3.5
Buzzcocks
2/5
ABBA
3/5
Portishead
2/5
So boring, didn’t seem unique or catchy at all. Consistent beat with some woman whisper-singing over it. 1.5
Napalm Death
1/5
so so bad it's almost funny. The screaming is horrendous, some muffled screams instead of those in metal that actually transmit energy.
The Last Shadow Puppets
3/5
Why is alex Turner everywhere it just ends up sounding like arctic monkeys. 2.5
Alexander 'Skip' Spence
3/5
The Chemical Brothers
3/5
Nirvana
5/5
Amazing sound, production. My favourite version of Where did you sleep last night. Pleasure to listen to this album.
Madonna
3/5
I guess it makes for decent background music, constant drum beat that's quite ambient actually.
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
The Zutons
3/5
Quite upbeat indie vibe. English band but with more of an American vibe to it.. maybe English indie tends to be more depressing
Madness
3/5
That one song sounds like fever by Peggy lee
Solomon Burke
4/5
Reminds me of Martin and he introduced me to Cry to Me, raspy voice that works well with the album vibe. 3.5
Public Image Ltd.
1/5
Not good, felt stressful, alot of tension build up with missing releases.
Wikipedia has 'dance' as one of the genres of this album, im struggling to see how this is possible, unless possessed by some demons. 1.5
John Lennon
4/5
Besides that yoko song, it’s a great album. Enjoyed the mix of styles, liked the psychedelic blend that reminded me abit of sgt. peppers. 4.5
Ryan Adams
2/5
Waylon Jennings
3/5
You know what, quite groovy for a country album. 3.5
Van Halen
5/5
Top album imo, hard rock but very accessible, light lyrics and high energy.
The Doors
3/5
Good tunes, the doors have a distinct sound with the organ and vocals. 3.5
Jack White
2/5
Im not a huge fan of Jack's voice in this context. Feels like a more mellow album that his usual work but feels like his voice is overcompensating in a way.
The xx
3/5
Quite a nice low-fi feeling album. Though I don’t want to reward the soft voice with tons of reverb too much.
Pavement
4/5
Think I’m being abit harsh but I give it 3.5
KISS
3/5
Cat Stevens
5/5
Beautiful album, thought this one had already come up, but happy that it didn't. A demonstration of simple ideas (lyrics, musical composition) but beautiful nonetheless.
Tom Waits
3/5
Funky but hard to get used to and at times it’s not musical enough for my taste - as many other Tom waits albums are for me.
Brian Eno
2/5
When I saw this album was in collaboration with David Byrne I was very excited. Unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations as I found the patterns repetitive and the sampling to be abit lacklustre.
Booker T. & The MG's
3/5
Interesting to have a 'soul' album without vocals. The organ is used in a much smoother and less 'imposing' way than I would have expected. Great album. 3.5
3.5
Peter Gabriel
2/5
Stevie Wonder
4/5
Excellent album, more soul focused, nice vibrato on the vocals. Catchy singles that makes the album stand out.
Neil Young
4/5
Didn’t know Neil had the slow blues in him. Like the raspy voice and slower tempo to the songs.
The Jam
2/5
Nothing too spectacular but it’s a decent album. Also surprised that this was in the 70s considering it’s more of an 80s British punk sound. 2.5
My Bloody Valentine
3/5
pretty solid, gives me similar vibe to cigarettes after sex but more rock and more intense. 3.5
The Police
3/5
Classic showcase of sting’s style, some nice riffs and background in the tracks with his voice standing out. Murder by numbers is a good representation of this album. 3.5
The Damned
2/5
Enough punk, pls
The Fall
3/5
Decent album
2/5
Air
4/5
Super cool album, smooth and great for a peaceful setting and slowing down the oace.
Air was one of the first artists I got on this and now it’s one of the last! I do this this is better than the other album, it has more range and depth.
Hot Chip
4/5
I know them from “easy to get”, a fun discovery. Synthpop that doesn’t rely too much on the usual sounds, uses nice vocals to create some groovy bassy tracks.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2/5
Finally thought I got a good track so I went to check and see what it was, turns out the album finished and shuffle took me to some Jethro Tull track.
This album is shit. 1.5
Talking Heads
4/5
Great disco beats made funky, some tracks that I will listen to again for sure. 4/5
Rod Stewart
3/5
Solid
1/5
20 seconds in and I knew it was going to be shit.. I stopped listening after a few songs cause they’re just all equally shit. Somehow manages to be super noisy and annoying but also without any drive or passion behind the music.
Peter Gabriel
3/5
Terrible opener in my opinion but progressively improves in creativity and flow.
Kanye West
3/5
Some good and innovative tracks in here, liked blood on the leaves
Method Man
1/5
Feels like some drunk kid slurring and trying to rap. Meth man.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
A good neil young album, listened to it on the plane. Good variety, instrumentals and musicality. Listenable and accessible too. 4/5
Iron Butterfly
3/5
The tracks before In-a-gadda-da-vida are just backfill and waiting for this legendary 17 minute jam. 3.5
Muddy Waters
4/5
Very good blues album, good bits of rock can be heard in here that’s clearly been inspiration for many to come. 4/5
Steve Winwood
5/5
I really enjoyed this album, even the album cover which is calming and abstract.
He has the classic 80s soft rock sound, singing quite high but hitting lots of higher pitches that worked well with the album. Some good instrumental work in there too to create a tranquil tone. Reminded me abit of van morrison.
AC/DC
4/5
Amazing album with many iconic tracks. 4.5
Joni Mitchell
4/5
Great album again, worth another listen for sure. 4.5
Girls Against Boys
2/5
Nina Simone
3/5
3.5, great jazz voice. Wide range where in some tracks her voice is so deep while others it hits much higher notes. Cool album with a slow tempo.
4/5
First three tracks listened together is extremely euphoric, amazingly transitions with great crescendos and so on, really amazing album. 4.5
Little Simz
3/5
Pretty good voice for rap, she uses it well to generate a lowfi/r&b mix, mixing in good melody lines to balance her rapping.
Beatles
5/5
Amazing album, every song is so special. There’s classics in here, there’s experimental songs, the instrumentals create an ominous tone at times and a glorious one at others. Amazing vocals. 5/5, simple as.
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
5/5
Abit too commercial perhaps, but the songs here are just too good for anything but a 5
Miriam Makeba
4/5
Think it’s great great showcase of jazz/classical voice. 3.5
Scritti Politti

Not very self aware with the album title..
Blood, Sweat & Tears
3/5
Solid jazzy album, recommend it. 3.5
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
Exceptional guitar playing and some classic tracks. Very accessible and nailed the psych sound with the fuzz throughout the album. Also some mellow tracks like the wind cries mary which showcase good vocal
Randy Newman
3/5
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
Quite recognisable singing patterns and melodies it feels like. Overall a great feel good album, 4.5.
Aerosmith
