I kind of went back and forth between a 1 and a 2 because it's objectively not *that* bad and has some genuinely good moments. But ultimately for me, it's just so stressful and unfun to listen to.
Just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl.
Fuck yeah QotSA
If that annoying sea shanty trend from 2020 was a whole album. A few songs I was okay with but overall just found this very irritating and I kind of hated it.

Little hit or miss, as was Peter Gabriel. Favorite tracks were 1, 3, 4.
The Beat Goes On was surprisingly solid. But, y'know.
I don't think this is really my thing, but I might try it again down the road and we'll see.
rush
Like, 3.5. Pretty good. Will probably give it another listen later on.
Not my favorite Daft Punk, but pretty good. Everything kind of sounds like this now but I imagine that wasn't the case back when this came out.
Very fine. Very accurate album title.
Pretty good. Not super my speed, but I'd like to give this another listen eventually.
Fuck yeah QotSA
Fuck yeah Iron Maiden
Fuck yeah Metallica
Yay ACDC. Their songs kind of all sound the same but I like that song.
Needs another listen but I enjoyed it. Front half more than back half but yeah.
Fuck yeah Deep Purple, buuuut I'm in the biggest fan ever of live albums.
Like, 4.5. Will definitely listen to again.
I know, I'm shocked too.
A very solid 3 though.
Not the biggest fan of folk music, but it was pretty good. It deserves another listen when I'm not working, though overcoming my allergic reaction to lyrics is hard.
Liked this way more than expected, and the production quality was very good.
Not my preferred sound, but surprising, neat, and ahead of its time.
It was fine. Sounded like the Cleveland oldies station.
Fuck yeah ELO.
Not my personal favorite, but there are some incredible soundscapes here.
Tough to rate objectively when so many of the songs are just zeitgeist now but gotta pick something, right?
Will need to re-listen to this one sometime.
Some cool bits. Some eh bits. Probably not my jam ultimately.
Simple, pretty fun. Ballroom Blitz is overplayed to death but it's still fun.
Some amazing moments, but kind of buried in there.
More like 3.5-3.75 but I'll round up.
I honestly do like the singles off this album a good bit, but the other songs are all much more minimal in terms of instrumentation and I don't think the songwriting is interesting enough to support that. Great voice though. 2.5/5 but I usually round up because I'm just that kind of person.
Bass is great. Good Times is a fun classic. Otherwise mostly whatever, but not bad at all.
Probably not super my thing, but I liked that it was more laid back.
Pretty good! I knew literally nothing about PJ Harvey going in but I overall dug this.
I kind of went back and forth between a 1 and a 2 because it's objectively not *that* bad and has some genuinely good moments. But ultimately for me, it's just so stressful and unfun to listen to.
Damn this was fun to cook to.
If that annoying sea shanty trend from 2020 was a whole album. A few songs I was okay with but overall just found this very irritating and I kind of hated it.
Not bad actually. Pretty good. Maybe like 3.5ish.
This was okay but pretty forgettable to me. I'll round up.
Really good! Loved the trumpet on this which makes sense because the artist is the trumpeter.
Best cool jazz album ever? Maybe!
Somewhere between 2 and 3, but I forgot what yesterday's album even was for a few minutes which seems about right.
Songs of Love? No, Hate!
I enjoyed the first few tracks and then I spaced and then it was over. I probably owe it another listen but I guess it didn't super grab me. Not bad by any stretch though.
I guess I like Nirvana a lot more than I used to.
Very pleasantly surprised. Occasionally sounded like Yes or ELO. I guess that'll show me for ignoring bands just because I don't like their name.
Enjoyed this a good deal more than expected. That's nice.
I would like to listen to it again but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
The brilliance of this album always seems to be lost in the chaos for me, but I'm always impressed that it's from 1967.
I don't think I need to listen to it again any time soon, but it was pretty good.
Not bad, not super my thing. I'm sure Prince has stronger albums.
Now That's What I Call Prince!
Enjoyed much more than expected for mid-2000s. This is more like a high 3-low 4 but still. Pretty cool.
Pretty cool. Would have been wild to have gotten this when it was originally intended. It's a lot but it's good.
Not a huge fan of live albums. Pretty long to listen to when I'm not...there. But this was a really good one.
Perfectly cromulent.
I'm like a 3.5 on this one but I usually round up so here you go. Not my favorite Stevie Wonder album by any stretch but I enjoyed it.
I'm surprised too.
More interesting and dynamic than White Stripes but also somehow a little forgettable? Probably deserves another listen sometime.
I'm a big fan of short. It lets me listen to your album multiple times which helps it grow on me. Which this one did actually. Probably not a big The Cure fan overall but I wound up liking this more than I thought I would. A Forest sounds like a Porcupine Tree song.
Not bad. A little long for what it is. Wouldn't put it on myself, wouldn't turn it off if it came on. Buffalo Stance does kinda slap.
Not bad. Good bass. Front half is better than the back half.
You know it's really a shame that guy went and became a Nazi.
I'd listen to this again. Sounds like a less exciting Streets of Rage. Maybe someday it'll go up to a 4. In my heart anyway - we can't edit these.
A little too much organ for me but I would still put it on any day.
He's crazy in the coconut.
Need to give another listen but pleasantly surprised by this one.
I still don't really "get" this album I don't think. It's pretty good and I like it alright but I dunno. Karma Police does slap though.
Making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Bit of a mixed bag. Very close to liking it more than I did but might listen again.
It's hard to rate an album with so many songs in the zeitgeist but I did enjoy this a lot. Also I'd never heard Ramble Tamble and it's super good.
Total all-timer. Revolution 9 notwithstanding...
I listened to this album 3 times yesterday.
Pretty sure this deserves another listen but I didn't really have time sadly.
More enjoyable than expected! Not half bad.
It was Thanksgiving so I'm sure this deserved more attention than I gave it
Really good but not sure if it ever super gelled. I think I need some time with it and some future re-listens and I'm pretty sure I'll love it in time. I was the same way about Coltrane.
Objectively the only song I would choose to put on is Big Iron but it's pretty fun overall.
I guess you could do worse for Christmas music but you could also not listen to Christmas music by choice. Especially on or around Christmas where you will frequently hear it not by choice.
Some good songs, some songs so stressful I wanted to take my headphones off.
Well. Leonard Cohen did something I thought he could never do. He made an album I liked. A bunch. Jerk.
If Miles Davis is cool, you can consider him Miles Davis.
Just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl.
Actually I thought this was pretty good and I would give it a 4 except for the one song with snoring in it that made me not want to listen to the album again.
I surprisingly really loved Speakerboxxx and found it interesting and complex throughout. The Love Below a little more hit or mess.
Would be 5 stars if there was an entire recording of Police Chief Wiggum singing Jamming.
Painful 2 stars but it just didn't do much for me. Bummer. Maybe it'll click someday.
Some of this was great and then some of it felt like filler.
Not quite my thing but pretty fun at least.
I'm sure this needs more than one listen but here we are.
That's some mighty fine crowd work, boss.
I'm starting to think this Derek guy might be kind of an asshole...
Not the biggest Elvis fan by any stretch but this one is actually pretty fun.
Not what I expected. I liked it more than I expected but still not really my personal jam mostly.
Pretty nice! Just not super my vibe.
Better than I expected but kinda overstays its welcome.
🔥🔥🔥
I checked out another John Cale album which I liked a good deal better. This one was decent with some cool stuff on it.
I could see a 4 on a different day in a different time. But today it's 3.
Bit of a lull in the middle but first and last thirds are really really good.
Was not feeling it at all to start, but I ended up really really digging it. Go figure.
Second half kinda redeemed but I would never want to listen to it again so here we are.
Started off kinda standard but I enjoyed it more over time. Doesn't take itself too seriously at all, sometimes reminiscent of Queen or ELO.
Another one that probably deserves more attention than I was able to give it yesterday.
You take your 4 stars and get out, Nazi.
Somehow you take solid-enough 3 star songs and run them for 2 hours, you get a 2 star album. I don't think this one is super meant to be listened to straight through as an album.
Starts off slow but I started to really dig it.
Better than Limp Bizkit/10
Almost the platonic ideal of a 3 star album to me, although I was really feeling it yesterday for whatever reason. Ended up vibing and running a radio station off of it after which is rare. I don't know what that means to me but it was more enjoyable than most 3 stars. 3+.
Not super my thing, but it was short and not terrible. It's something 🎉
Definitely too long. Definitely fucking ruled.
Aaaaalmost a 5. Very cool blend of psych rock and other vibes.
Is it my favorite Pink Floyd album? No. Does it contain some of the most beautiful rock songs ever written? Yes.
Opening track was super strong, but didn't quite keep up the momentum.
I kinda went back and forth on this one. I think we're rivaling Dylan for least and worst singer-singer, but then sometimes it was actually pretty lovely.
Really enjoyed this but didn't care for the production unfortunately.
I guess I don't get it.
Grew on me somewhat over time. Oddly the middle was probably my favorite section. That blues track was pretty nice.
I spaced and forgot what I was listening to and thought it was David Bowie for a sec.
Started pretty strong but not much staying power for me I guess.
Boy lots of highs and lows on this one. I guess it rounds out to a 3 at the end of the day. Some specific songs might be a 5 and some might be a 1. Or even sections of songs.
Yes Freebird is one of the most overplayed songs of all time but it's still a banger.
Not quite as good as In a Silent Way for me. Overall I would rather listen to that one. But man when this one cooks, it *coooooooks*.
Ghost Rider was very cool and what I was kind of wanting out of "synth-punk" but the others not quite as appealing.
I guess they really were England's newest hit-makers.
Bit of a slow start but really did get rolling for me. Also goes pretty hard thematically/lyrically.
Well. We had one I hated (Songs of Love and Hate), one I actually really liked (You Want it Darker) and now we have one I think is okay. I guess that's something.
A favorite of a bunch of artists I love. But it never gels for me. Maybe you had to be there? Or maybe it'll gel someday. I do love the thicc 80s drums though.
Haven't listened to this one since college and it's still some very solid power pop.
I started off kinda disliking it and by the end it actually won me over quite a bit. Maybe more listens = more good in the future?
Todd, you're an odd fellow, but you something something really good. Breathless especially, very cool track.
The first track went real hard and then it was fine after.
Cool variety. Mostly not super my thing but enjoyed the lyrical content. "Enjoyed."
Sometimes crazy, sometimes amazing, sometimes both.
Oh. So that's where the Persona 5 soundtrack came from.
I guess I really like Traffic. Not traffic, Traffic
Probably 3.5ish?
Really good, but the mix was rough. I had to adjust the balance myself, which I never do.
It's fine, nothing wrong with it at all. Just not my thing/would probably never put it on myself.
Pretty good "getting things done" music for the most part.
Sometimes very nice. Sometimes very boring. I guess it all balances out.
Objectively pretty good but subjectively really not my thing. Amazing she got as popular as she did though. Never would have seen that coming.
If you had played me this album without the title track and asked me if I thought the title track was from this album, I'd have said no.
Looking good, Rod. Looking good.
First half lived up to its promise by being boring. Second half was better.
3 for different reason than usual. Just unsure how I feel about it even after 2 listens. Need some more time with it. A little King Crimson, a lotta Genesis, but Genesis is not my personal favorite prog/art rock band. I'll go back to this one another day.
Not bad but not quite my favorite. I then learned about the same artist's other album, Afro Temple, which was much more my speed. Recommended if you liked some elements of Palo Congo but it didn't quite hit.
I can basically see the old people dancing badly in the audience if this was played today.
I don't think this *quite* reached a 4 for me, but it is a pretty strong 3.
Toy Story man can only ever sound like Toy Story to me.
Pretty good, but also pretty repetitive. Kinda rough to listen to straight through but I don't think that's really the intention.
Much better than I expected! Also impressive that it was almost a one-man show.
Some of the subject matter is... Dated. But otherwise...
Nothing wrong with it, just very not for me.
I enjoyed this but it seemed too long. Probably worth checking out again another day, but I don't think it needed to be an hour.
I think this could have gone up to 4 if it had been a little bit tighter. Felt it dragged a bit.
Well, it's no Mezzanine.
Making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel.
The playing is objectively fantastic. I just kept drifting away from it in my head and can't really imagine going back to it.
Not that into crooners, driving or otherwise.
I dunno man. Sometimes it's really good. Sometimes I'm wondering when it will end.
Really enjoyed the beginning but became a little more standard as it went. Might give it a revisit at some point.
Started off somewhat strong and interesting but fell off quickly for me before becoming a bit cacophonous.
Some songs up there with the best, but also some of what feels like filler unfortunately.
Not sure how much I'd listen to it day-to-day but interesting and well-executed.
Yeah I'm probably not gonna listen to this again but I have to give it credit for existing.
Feels like it's pretty effective at what it's trying for, which I think is neat.
Talbot: Split was really up my alley. Aside from the vocals. Also all the vocals.
Very good but I think it runs out of steam a bit as the album goes along. Still excellent, but close to true greatness.
Definitely deserves another listen for me. Weird and challenging but maybe good? Gotta bookmark it for the future.
It's definitely something alright.
I'm glad I've now heard the most patriotic lyric of all time: "Where u at?" "Over there with a bad attitude 'cause I just don't care"
Can we have fewer white supremacists now please?
Well Thomas, I liked this album, *despite* your voice. Actually his voice works okay in this one.
Sadly Genesis is one of my "I don't get it" prog groups that other prog friends love. Can't win 'em all I guess.
Feels very ahead of its time. Super neat.
Started off feeling better than I had expected, then kind of runs out of steam for me. The Kate Bush song was good though.
Probably worth another listen. Definitely some things I enjoyed.
Eh. Other than the parts that sounded like The Allman Brothers Band
Did very unexpectedly warm up to this one over the course of the album. Not really my thing in general, but I'd listen to it again.
My kingdom for fewer skits.
Mostly neat how early this is. 1966 is super impressive.
A lot of fantastic songs on here (shoutout Flower for all the workouts) but just way too long for my preference.
