Soul progresivo. Me ha gustado. Un 4.

Great vocals and lyrics. What's not to like?

You know it’s good I like the soul and funk aspects honestly felt like it might be the turning point for more experimental funk and soul.

Wonderful. I will listen to this many more times

solid 3 or 4. Upbeat enough and innocent enough, that although i didn't feel anything I also wasn't too annoyed by it.

Score: 9,5

Really enjoyed the funk songs but didn't care for the others

Very good. I heard it through the grapevine

Extremely funky and soulful. Nice soul rock vibe

Soul progresivo. Me ha gustado. Un 4.

Solid 4.5 out of 5, I was excited to draw this one and it didn’t disappoint. My favorite was Gonna Keep On Trying

Not quite as good as "All Directions", but still solid stuff. Fave track - "Runaway Child, Running Wild" - love the bit where the guy manages to sound like both a crying child and a police siren at the same time! The title track is great too....

Once you've heard Marvin Gaye's or even CCR's I Heard it Through the Grapevine, this version seems very tame. They've got soul, they've got passion, they're The Temptations for goodness sake.

So much richness of soul in this, which can feel like a lost chapter of the '60s. The production feels a bit rough and muddy, it's music to take seriously, even as one is enjoying it pretty deeply.

Nice Soul album. I enjoyed it

First half is funky, second half is more generically Motown, but both halves are solid throughout.

Nice easy listening soul album

First half of the album is amazing, second half has some boring songs. Love it overall.

Great Motown album

So much amazing energy, but the song subjects weren't doing it for me as much. I even want to give it a 3 for that reason... but... it's such powerful music. Makes you feel alive instantly.

Another band I've listened to just incidentally but never really sat down and focused on an album from but it's really great. Breaks out of the traditional soul formula and does a lot of cool progressive stuff with it.

Ok so first thing’s first. When I saw it was The Temptations today, I somehow mixed them up with The Foundations and was wondering if Build Me Up Buttercup would be on this album (what a great song). Obviously, it isn’t. However, I still look forward to hearing The Temptations! Songs I already knew: I Heard It Through The Grapevine Favourites: Runaway Child Running Wild, Why Did She Have To Leave Me This wouldn’t usually be my kind of music, but what a fun album! The bass singer has a fantastic voice, and it was always a treat when he’d get a solo line every now and then. The music stays exciting throughout and it’s easy to find yourself bobbing you head along without even realising it. It didn’t exactly melt my face of or change my life, but not every album needs to. An easy recommendation for anybody who just wants a fun album and nothing more.

It was an interesting listen, as I had heard many of these songs covered by others first.

classic

Love the Temptations, but not my favorite album. Still, excellent music.

Serviceable motown stuff, nothing crazy but it gets the job done.

I'm usually not wild about old R&B, but this hits differently. Really liked it!

Groovy

Good morning music

i like cloud nine and runaway child running wild ! the other two didn't stood out and the tracks : i heard it through .... love is a hurting....hey girl .. i need you loving .. don't let him... gonna keep on trying... weren't available on my spotify

Like the music, puts me in a good mood

Oh hell yeah. The first side is a massive jump forward from the classic Motown sound into a "psychedelic soul", the source material for the funk sound of the 70s. Poignant lyrics, great instrumental compositions, and harmonies and vocals as good as ever. The second side dials it back a little with more subtle touches of the experimental first half, which IMO, weakens the record. Still a great album though.

Very soulful!

Nice happy album, a lot of the songs aren't on Spotify but the songs that are, are nice

8,5/10

Really liked it, sounds older than '69 tho.

Love it

Enjoyed this.

Enjoyed the songs I could listen too, half of the album had been remove by Spotify

Only four tracks on Spotify but decent

very funky

Wish it was all there

Overall, I'm very impressed. Feeling a 7.8 to 8.

It's rather good is the short answer. Cloud 9 (the song) feels like it's birthing 70s funk and soul, absolute tunes. The rest of the album is less bold, but still giving me ten great soul tunes. Annoying it isn't on Spotify, though.

True, some of the songs sound an awful lot alike, but when its this good, thats alright baby!

Great Temptations album.

The album sweeps you off your feet with its energy! The life itself! I'm still struggling with funk and other "fun" genres, but I really liked this one!

So great

Bello funky, 4.

Classic /10 4.2 ish lol I need ain't to proud to beg

Funky nice

Pretty cool

Easy to listen to. Lots of really modern sounds that really surprised me for an album from 1969.

All class.

You cannot go wrong with Classic Soul Music.

Fun bops, great harmonies

super hilled and really enjoyed

Fabulous on a sunny afternoon - that 9 minute song in the middle was a surprise and slightly creepy with the kid on !

So funky, I love it

Awesome album! I absolutely love the cover. Almost a 5, the love songs get a little stale

Love the temptations some filthy, funky tracks on here

I like this one more than the last Temptations album we were sent. They were testing out the fusion of psychedelic and soul which must have been exciting for them. They made the new genre work and Cloud 9 is an excellent example of this. They also had a new singer after an acrimonious split with the last guy, so they must have been particularly motivated to make an ass kicking album. They succeeded.

Some fun soul, it's quickly becoming my highest rated genre on this

Pretty fun!

05/06/2022 This was a nice one to get on a Friday. A week full of bullshit ending with a smooth funky album like this was nice to go out on.

Flawed but brilliant. A side is more psychedelic soul than the B side and although both sides are great in their individual ways, the songs on the B side, whilst being nearer to the original Temptations' sound are not as good as those earlier songs.

A true classic

Enjoyable Motown Soul

A very uneven album, but the funky tracks are so fire that I don't even care. Best track: Cloud Nine

Psychedelic soul!

Early temptations were good but they got better for sure

The album is good, I liked it a lot. The title track is a really awesome and Runaway Child, Running Wild really surprised me for how good it was, I loved the lyrics and instrumentation of these two songs. The rest of the album is also good, I liked the fact that a good amount of the songs in this record are about losing the woman you love.

Solid album great for background music while I prepare breakfast. If you are a fan of Mowtown R&B Funk it's a great album. Also, perfect length @ 35 min total it wasn't too short or too long.

Listened to on 2/1/22 3.5/5 Favorite Song: I need your lovin Super fun album with jazz influences would listen to again

Very solid album through and through but not a ton I would personally listen to over and over on my own playlist. Potentially closer to a 3.5 but earned a 4 for me on the strength of the whole album.

Nice, classic with a psychedelic twist. A little different and I usually like Motown and soul anyway.

Happy, lighthearted upbeat vibes, enjoyable music, but nothing really stands out to a 5 star level

it was good stuff

Un bon moment

Du bon son.

je crois que j'ai bien aimé mais je me souviens presque de rien, la pochette est trop belle cependant

Days since I heard music that is so fun and full of life: 0

I really love The Temptations. Heard it through the grape is just a solid piece man. It's always been interesting to me, I grew up near a vineyard and we'd pick grapes and blue berries from to time. And It rings so true lol. You can't see anything through it, so you just kind of have to listen. Super makes sense once you've been in the situation. But nah it's this interesting mix of Funk meets motown and It just fucks man.

This was a lot more funky than I was expecting. Still a few old school Temptations songs on it but mostly a different vibe than I'm used to with them. I hadn't heard most of these songs before but still really enjoyed the album.

8/10 pretty cool, i don't expect albums of this genre to have 9 minute songs, and this one did it well.

8/10. Liked it

Disco cool, la pasé muy bien, no conocía nada de los temptations, según yo. 8/10

Groovy shame I couldn’t listen to the whole album

Dejlige toner, dejligt funky - Feel good for alle pengene

Not too bad at all!

Tremendous

The first half of the album is amazing The second half is solid

A good departure from thier older stuff. Not a big fan of this version of grapevine but I like the dip into psychadelia.

Smooth soul meets earthy funk. I liked this a lot.

Side one is kinda revelatory...what if The Temptations worked together ... the song Cloud Nine might just be the result. Next is a great take on Heard it Through The Grapevine and the 9 minute closer is another funky, introspective freak out that packs a real punch. Love side one. Side two gets back to more familiar territory, silky smooth vocals, lush production with plenty of strings...syrupy sweet. This is a great album for someone who wants a taste of the classic Temptations sound and a glimpse into their experimental side. 4.25 stars

Soulful

A classic. And it's a classic for a reason.

Psychedelic soul! Gotta love it. 4 stars.

Psychedelic soul is a super interesting genre and something I have not explored with the Temptations. There are experiments that don’t quite work, like a cover of ‘I heard it Through the Grapevine’ but there are some really great sounds on this album. ‘Runaway Child, Running Wild’ is a standout for me and a great jam. Of course this is still a Temptations record and so we still get those lush harmonies for which the group is known

Couldn’t find this actual album but great tracks and live this period of the Temps.

Yes, I've heard of the Temptations but I couldn't list any of their records off of the top of my head. Yes, I've heard "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", but I haven't heard this version. Maybe I've never heard the Temptations' version of the song. I think all of the tracks on this album were new to me. This was a good album to listen to. "Cloud Nine" has a great intro, and was a great way to start the album. I'm sure there are tracks that deserve a second listen to get a full appreciation of the album. I'd listen to this album again.the tracks on this album were new to me. This was a good album to listen to. "Cloud Nine" has a great intro, and was a great way to start the album. I'm sure there tracks that deserve a second listen to get a full appreciation of the album. I'd listen to this album again.

Fantastic.

Love that Motown beat. Unmistakable sound. Cloud 9 - This is way funkier than I associate with the Temptations - no big band sound. Just guitars and drums. There's an almost live sensibility to it - lead vocalist comes off the mic. I am guessing this was recorded live in studio and not produced and pieced together. I Heard it Through the Grapevine. Now, I associate this with Marvin Gaye or Gladys Knight. Was this a Temptation song first? Apparently this is a cover, but it's good. Run Away Child, Running Wild - Back to that funkier, rock sound of Cloud 9. This is a surprisingly fresh and rocking album. Not the way I think of The Temptations, and I like it. "I Want My Mama" scream is jolting and terrifying. Quite a message, and then the instrumental jam that follows is impressive! Love is a Hurtin' Thing - Much more produced with that backing horn section and strings. Soulful song though. I like it. Great album! Hey Girl - Another soulful song - simple lyrically, "Hey Girl, don't go away." It's more about mood. Probably the worst song on the album. Just meh. Why Did She Have to Leave Me - A better version of Hey Girl. More story, more vocals. Side A of this album is definitely the side to listen to. Side B is more derivative, but it's a great sound! I Need Your Lovin' - More don't leave me. I was wrong, and I'll fix it stuff. I think the well is drying up. Don't Let Him Take Your Love From Me - Interesting spin on the old familiar. The broken man who is being left is pleading with her to not let HIM take her from him. Crazy. Typical Temptations song. simple drum kit snare/closed cymbals with horns and a guitar. Decent rhythm, but this side of the album does get repetitive. I Gotta Find a Way to Get You Back - How many girls leave this guy and send him to a desperate plead to get her back. Got a little saxophone on this one though! I do like this song's vibe more than the others on this topic. Gonna Keep Tryin' Til I get Your Love - Bass line is super reminiscent of Sugar Pie Honey Bunch I can't Help Myself, which was a Four Tops song. Interesting.

28th July 2021 Listened on my phone in the morning and finished the morning after cos Spotify didn't have all the songs. Had to finish on YouTube which was annoying. Yeah they're pretty legendary and have some amazing tunes

The whole album wasn't on spotify so it might be higher or lower than a 4. I loved it

Funky goodness

Really dug the motown soul. Good music to drive to. Reminds me a bit of Otis Redding.

Great example of soul/motown! Love the basslines and vocal harmonies!

I loved it! Specially Cloud Nine, Runaway Child, y I need your loving

Oh thank God, what a palette cleanser after the last album. This is great. I don’t have a lot of thoughts about it other than it’s great. Soulful, fun. Favourite track: “Don’t Let Him Take Your Love from Me”

This album is a total whip. The temptations always provide just what I need.

Great album.. can’t really go wrong with the Temptations.

Pretty soulful.

Great background / working noise

As to be expected by The Temptations, this album was fantastic. Not perfect, but still amazing.

I mean it's the temptations!

Pretty nice. Classical soul infused with funk and jazz elements. I particularly liked Runaway Child.

Groove and soul

Vrolijke liedjes, leuk om op de achtergrond te zetten bij zomers weer

Some great songs, some not so hot covers

good, but not the best of motown

Classic love/heartbreak album that seems to be timeless.

Take me to funk town, I vibed really hard with half of the songs, the more ballad like ones I didn't enjoy as much

Really enjoyed it!

No es su mejor disco pero también es bueno

Hey look, an album from '69 that I actually liked! Recommended season: Summer

Good upbeat early disco/mid-funk vibes, and a completely new version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine".

Groovy. Cool soul vibes.

i love the temptations

Great album! While I've heard of The Temptations never really gave them an actual listen and super impressed!

Love good mo-town, and this is a great collection of songs! Highlights: -I Heard It Through The Grapevine -Why Did She Have To Leave Me -I Need Your Lovin

Old school funk from the old school Temptations. Lyrics in this sometimes seem to harken back to slavery, or at least that was what I was feeling. No doubt they were politically charged people in their day.

Didn't hit me as hard as the prior offering by the Temptations, though I think the album version I pulled up may not have been the best mastering, the sound seemed a little muddy. Still great.

Psychedelic Temps!

I like the kind of psychedelic instrumental arrangements. I think the vocals sometimes keep it from being a real favorite for me, but every other part is really good.

The dudes voice is FRIED on this record, but it makes it even more smooth somehow. Classic Motown basslines and instrumentation here. I mean, it’s the Temptations, cmon man. Favorite track: Cloud Nine Least favorite track: Love Is A Hurtin’ Thing

A bit of a departure from their previous albums but still holds up with the new sounds they were looking for

Not my thing, I can appreciate it though.

I've never heard this version of "Heard it Through the Grapevine."

extremely groovy.

OH! FUNKY!

Some great, dark, a psychedelic soul. Shame had to listen on YouTube on my phone.

Didn't expect this to be so funky! Really liked it

groovy!!!

I feel the only weak spot here is their version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". Rest of the album is some classic soul and funk, along with some excellent story telling. Favorite tracks: "Runaway Child, Running Wild", "Don't Let Him Take Your Loving From Me"

Awesome tracks in the first half but there are some fillers at the end

Nice, kinda samey but I like it

Not really feeling this, didn't have any songs that particularly stood out

Heard of them, not this album though. Psychedelic soul, something flat and boring about the whole thing. Side 2 is bit better, more what I expected of the temptations. 3 Heard before? No Owned: No, 92/346 (26%) Will I get: No

Pleasant listen while walking the dog. Randomly heard one of the songs hours later in the airport

this is good but not my vibe

It was OK but nothing special stood out

Not too bad but not quite as good as some of their albums.

Soem of the songs I rlly liked, and I like the groovy vibes of the album, but some songs didn't grab my attention. 3.5

I was quite bored by this but it's a pleasant listen

Good soul

𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘦 captures The Temptations at a fascinating turning point, as they move beyond their classic soul sound and embrace psychedelic influences. The album is ambitious, adventurous, and clearly willing to take risks. While I can appreciate that ambition, the album never fully comes together for me. There are plenty of inventive arrangements and strong performances, but it often feels too scattered to leave a lasting impression. By the time it’s over, very little has stayed with me. I understand why 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘦 is regarded as a landmark of psychedelic soul, but I admire it more than I actually enjoy listening to it.

Fun listen overall. Obviously influential.

The kind of music that's fun for the whole family and won't upset grandma!

A very top-heavy album. Really enjoyed the first few tracks, felt a big drop-off as far as energy is concerned in the remainder of the album. Some moments here and there but I'm not big on Soul music to begin with so it's likely just not for me. Runaway Child is fantastic though the crying kid noise in the middle were not necessary. 3 stars

Pretty good album. I just think I had really high expectations for this one so it didn't really live up to them. Still quite decent. 3.5/5

I prefer George Harrison cloud nine.

Album was fine, nothing crazy and no takeaways, but definitely not bad!

It was better than the one before, but nahhh Also boring bro If it gives me some ahh album like that again from 19th century imma jump out the window

I'm not so big on the psychedelic soul portions of the album. The back half of solid Motown soul is what you expect from the band. Having the kid crying for his mom in the middle of "Runaway Child, Running Wild" was a decision, and made me just wanna scoop him up and hold him. The cover of "Heard It Through the Grapevine" lent a gravity that took it away from the fun Marvin Gaye tune into the department of "why you wanna do that to me?". Not a bad album, but I won't be back. My Rating: 3/5

Pensé que me iba a flipar y solo me ha gustado

I don't NOT like it, but it didn't hit for me like I expected it to

It’s not one of my favorite temptations albums, I’m sorry to say. And I really hate the title track

I thought this was enjoyable but I don't feel compelled to go back to it any time soon. I don’t know what it is with “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and covers that are 6 minutes too long.

Ну по сути красиво, ну ладно

Surprisingly disappointed

Frankly, Motown alumni and their work are starting to get tiresome. Soul, soul, and more soul. Northern, Southern, Detroit, New Orleans... Basically, that's the studio's bread and butter, the problem is that it all sounds the same to me. Even the songs on different albums can be the same — the band takes a standard and reworks it in its own way, and does this several times. This album by The Temptations attempted to stand out from the crowd a bit — for example, the first side is clearly inspired by Sly & The Family Stone, and the band ventures into psychedelic funk territory (just look at the long "Run Away Child, Running Wild"). However, while they wanted to attract new fans, they were afraid to alienate the old ones, so the second side... Yeah, it's the same old three-minute soul songs, a sure bet. In short, it's a three stars for the effort, but a light one.

felt kinda bland at the begining but then it finished strong

Mye kult her, særlig i starten og særlig "Runaway Child, Running Wild". Ellers ispedd litt svisker jeg kunne klart meg uten. Men for all del smooth.

Pretty good. Nice short album, and I really love how balanced all of their voices are. No huge standouts from the songs specifically, was not expecting a 9 min adventure in the middle of it but that was fine.

Some strong songs in here, with an overall easy going vibe that makes you feel happy and energised

Decent psychedelic-ish soul stuff. I liked the first three songs but the rest is also pretty good

First couple tracks are pretty good, the rest was fine. 7/10.

The Temptations sing about love for 10 tracks straight but that's pretty much par for the course of the 60's. Thankfully the music is groovy and enjoyable for the most part.

This version of Heard It Through the Grapevine' was disappointing

The title track is dynamite and the rest offer diminishing returns, but I still enjoyed this. Good vibes and great vocals all round.

I could have done without the nearly 10 min Runaway Child, Running Wild especially with the creepy child voice midway through. The Heard it through the Grapevine cover was also pretty terrible. The album improved dramatically when they get back to the classic Temptations vibes

is the Curtis Mayfield song referencing this? "little chiiiiild, running wiiiiild". love the interlude on this song ok the music is good, and the songs are classics, but the post-doowop a cappella(-ish, obv there are instruments here) just isn't my favorite style. i'd rather listen to the Supremes covering the Temptations. next on my queue is their collab album. the front vocals are impeccable, it's the background that i'm not a fan of. i dunno, we're sitting in a 3.5 range here. i'll decide tomorrow how to round it.

A fantastic opening to the album but they didn't seem to be able to keep it at that level. Still, a remarkable group and overall a solid album.

fun, there must be better Temptations records ahead in this list

I love this bridge to Disco. Very funky but interesting subject matter. And I would love to do the bass parts.

This is enjoyable enough, though not really something I’d ever go out of my way for. 7.5/10

I listened it fully like once or twice only ? Couldn't pick up a track I enjoyed 💔 I identified that it wasn't bad, but I didn't really vibe w it.

Solid enough :)

Love the Temps but not a lot of their very best here.

Lovely vibes and a strong opening but didn’t hold my attention in the back half. Would have enjoyed it more if I was off my gourd dancing with a skinhead lass I’m sure.

This did not do much for me. Sure it had good beats and rythems, but I didnt actively enjoy it. Wasn't bad, didnt dislike it, just didnt do a thing for me. I'm rating for enjoyment and how much I liked it, as I always do, so it just scraped a 3 I think. Ik its a good album. Just not for me

O tipo de música que toca quando o protagonista de um romance está apaixonado. Disco divertido de ouvir.

Great stuff! Soul is a genre i dont delve into much so it was a pleasant surprise. the instrumentation was top tier and their voices were (obviously) soulful.

This was way stranger than I was expecting.

Good upbeat soul album, I’m never gonna love this kind of thing but it’s harmless and fun in places.

This album was a classic 1969 album for me. Low tempo, chilled out and all about love. The vocal performance is awesome but I think it's just a little too slow for me. I also would've liked to hear about something other than love but that is kind of the concept of the whole album so hard to fault it for that. Fav song: Why did she have to leave me (why did she have to go) Least fav: N/A

No need for me to listen to this - Motown was the soundtrack of my childhood and then the Beatles saved us. Thanks to the gods for rock 'n roll. This pablum dance music was fun enough until we learned better.

Coolio

Me gustan mucho las vibes, aunque no sé si como para ponérmelo en casa

runaway child

This is a very “low ceiling high floor” album. It’s like drafting Derrick Henry in 2025.

not my style but good

Interesting enough, but not enough to bring me back again

Not my thing but perfectly listenable.

Too singy for my liking, but pretty fun and not boring. I won't go back to it, but if you like it you like it, nothing bad to say about it.

nice sound

Flipping between early funk pioneers and run of the mill Motown . Unfortunately not enough of the former

A solid start with Cloud Nine and Heard it Through the Grapevine but then while it is still pretty good it becomes less funky and loses a bit of its interest. Favorite Songs: Cloud Nine ; Heard it Through the Grapevine

Favorite track(s): Cloud Nine, Runaway Child, Running Wild

Personally one of my favorite genres. Big fan of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Gonna Keep On Tryin’ Till I Win Your Love hit a prime spot as well. If I could give it a 3.5 I would but just a tad too repetitive for me to give it a 4.

Pretty dang good. I liked keep gonna tryin…

I enjoyed this for what it is.

I I like the album. A good album to tie early 60s Motown and Gaye and wonder of the 70s

The Temptations are iconic. Never sat down and listened to a full album before though. This one is very well done, with only a few misses. But also, none of the hits they're known for. On balance, it's a 3

two albums from the temptations within 2 weeks of each other made this feel a bit repetitive.

Don’t know if they have mummy or daddy issues tbh

Somedays you just really need The Temptations! Reading up on this album, it seems this Grammy winner pissed off a lot of their original fan base by funkin it up a little. I say good for them. One of the most annoying things, to me, in music is when "expert" listeners get angry when their artists take their art in another direction. Like, they're personally attacked or something. Switching things up to remain relevant or reach more people is a wonderful thing if done correctly (of course it can backfire). But in this case, it did not backfire, and it was very enjoyable.

Decent listen.

Pretty solid all round

Blue, country, and what wikipedia tells me is "roots rock". This feels like a slimmed-down version of the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" album; a reviewer apparently once called them minimalist and I agree.

great music! impossible not love

Solid album. Bunch of great tracks. Sounds a little dated in the production, but overall it's a very enjoyable listening experience.

The Temptations' first album that goes beyond the group's typical Motown sound does so with mixed results. The opening track is the clear highlight, a funky-yet-depressing soul cut that makes good use of the group's vocals. The nine-minute "Run Away Child, Running Wild" is the clear attempt to try something psychedelic, with the varied production and long instrumental breaks. It ends up feeling weirdly empty though and is only sometimes interesting. The second side is fairly straightforward Motown soul that is good but not great. The group went onto move adventurous things than this, and while it doesn't really stand out from the 60s soul pack it's at least a pleasant listen.

Fun enough. ★★★

Not for me, which is thought was strange because I love soul and rnb

Unlike most albums, I felt this started weak and ended strong.

Crying child on 3rd track very disturbing.

6.0/10 Thought this was pretty groovy.

Bien, bien setentoso.

I heard it through the grapevine didn't sound like the version I'm used to; the overall album was pretty mellow, not quite the upbeat Temptations I'm used to.

Really like the sound, the album was solid.

A fun album with some good funky jams.

It was a'ight

Wish I liked this a little more.

es como el bringing it all back home de dylan pero del funk y soul

Calm album. It's decent, a bit boring.

The album is alright not really my sort of music but can be appreciated just nothing that stood out for me

That can't decide whether they want to be gritty or sweet. There's a couple good tracks here and some generic second tier Motown

Are ALL of these dudes having a hard time getting a girlfriend or something??

Decent soulful harmonies. I enjoyed it as much as I can for Motown music.

Weird album it’s like the temptations trying out different genres to see what sticks to the wall. I love soul music listen really hit for me.

waffling between 2 and 3. I think thats the difference for me, I prefer bands for vocalist groups. And here the band feels like an accessory to prop up the vocal performance....for the whole album. Not my cup of tea. That said, its too competant for a 2.

Leuk. Begon sterk, later wel wat saaiig

The acapella was great Liked how the first few songs had a instrumental intro They sounded all unique in intro but somehow in the middle of the song its hard to find out what makes each story stand out I liked why did she have to leave me, Cloud nine, i need ur lovin' Need more listens to properly judge

Cool and funky, with those classic choppy guitar riffs and bubbling bass lines from the Funk Brothers. Smooth harmonies and lead vocals delivered with conviction. 'Runaway Child Running Wild' is epic.

Solid.

it’s hard to hate the temptations

A solid entry—it just gets rather monotonous for me. The best element is all the backing vocals. The writer is how they rely on the same tricks over and over again. Also: is “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” the song that appears the most throughout the entire list? I think I’ve heard it 3 times during this project.

Supremely easy to listen to but nothing really jumped out as me as incredibly memorable. Very much a background listen for me.

Pretty damn cool! Funky vibe to this. 3 for me. Glad I’ve listened to this one.

listened while cleaning my room. enjoyed.

Starts and ends strong, which really works in the album’s favor. It has a nice funky feel with great energy… but the songs around the middle and a little after lose that feeling and that did stick with me even when the energy came back. I enjoyed the album overall. Favorite Song: Hey Girl Least Favorite Song: Why Did She Have To Leave Me (Why Did She Have To Go)

Très fan de Love is a hurting thing, le reste plus basique j'ai trouvé. Dans le genre, l'album Makings of you de Curtis Mayfield est vraiment bien même si c'est plus symphonique

It's good. Fine, even. Not really my vibe, but it's hard to go against the Temptations.

3 - decent

Mogla bih sve prepisati što sam rekla za njihov prošli samo se bas manje ističe pa je ovaj ipak malo lošiji.

Rather enjoyable. The child crying on Runaway Child was a bit uncomfortable to hear.

Side A is pretty great but side B is pretty standard. They average out in my book.

This started off very promisingly even despite my pet peeve of a cover song. Track 3 was good. However, it trailed off into derivative soul/motown. One of the better of this style I’ve had though.

overall feel good album!

Júst as funky as the last album, kinda the same vibe

This one’s okay. I liked I Need Your Lovin and Runaway Child. All the songs about getting the girl back were kinda samey.

Cozy soul music. The B side is clearly stronger. 6/10

How to ruin a good song: step 1) add the vocals of a screaming child.

easy listen

Me gustó pero tampoco me pareció tan destacable.

Fun and soulful, I especially liked "Hey Girl"

Bonitas vozes, estilo bonito, tranquilinho. Me lembrou uma vibe alegre dos Jacksons 5 que eu curto. Trabalhei na mó paz aqui. Nada mais o que falar, só achei bãozinho mesmo.

Good but I feel like there are better Temptations songs?

I love the Temptations but this album didn’t do it for me

Past their prime?

I love how they can be a Motown pop group one minute, and funky, psychy, experimentalists the next - they seem to cover both ends of the spectrum on this record. I found it a bit meandering and aimless in places, but the world’s a better place for them.

I was looking forward to this for a change of tempo and sound, but found it a bit lacking. I wanted to be thrilled by that motown popness, but it seemed to lack sparkle somehow. Not helped by the slightly lacklustre version of Heard it through the grapevine (which I know was a Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong penned tiune) but I don't think this was the first version?? A fine album just not what I hoped for.

album #21 every track name on this made me giggle because of how it reads as more and more desperate as the tracks go on LOL. 3/5 because it's the temptations and they have a very clear influence on music and also their bass lines fuck. ꩜ album rating: ★★★☆☆ ꩜ number of albums left to review: 1,068 ꩜ number of albums from the list that i agree with being on the list: 10 (+1 Cloud Nine) ꩜ albums from the list that I would consider on my list: 3 ꩜ albums from the list I won't include on my list: 14

it's ok but nothing particularly outstanding for me

Sounds like receiving a haircut from a butt naked man. 6.5/10

Funky but catchy. As lil siddy said, “ Ts sounds like getting a haircut from a naked black barber”

Good album! With very instruments and the voice is rlly cool!

Very interesting record, dealing with some „pulpy“ topics. The music mirrors this and gets darker and experimental, well at least in the cosmos of the Temptations. :D Fav: Runaway child, running wild
