Liked Higher ground and maybe too high. The rest were ok.
Never thought I'd enjoy Michael Jackson.
Good album but won't be revisiting.
This was great. Really enjoyed it. I can see it's influences in lots of bands that came after this.
Better than the beach boys
Not a Cure fan but this was great. Really enjoyed the album and loved how it sounded. It made me want to be a whiny moody goth.
Really liked the sound of this album. So it gets a 4. I hope this pisses off the snobs.
Objectively, this is a very good album. I don't know why people have issue with it. If you want to listen to the same shit you've listened to thousand times then maybe you shouldn't go through this list.
Had heard some Tom Petty songs. I had no clue they sounded so different to all the rock that was coming out in the 70s. Definitely a must listen.
Very 80s sounding. Some interesting things going on. Paul Revere was a cool song.
Was going to give it a 3 but it sounds good and has enough experimentations to get a 4.
Definitely a must listen but not a great album.
They had a song about stock market LOL. 'nuff said.
This was an interesting listen. I am glad I have now heard it. A bit preachy and dramatic. It was definitely lacking some RAGE. It felt like a protest music you could make love to.
First time listening to Elvis. Enjoyed it.
This was better than the other album.
Great party album. This simpleton loves it.
Another dope 90s boom bap.
Interesting album. Definitely belongs in the list.
Grandaddy of pop punk albums 🫶🏼
Never really listened to 2000s indie rock. Thanks to this project I got to check out this album and it is very good. Nothing groundbreaking but this album is full of well composed and catchy songs. Mixing on the other hand - not so great.
It sounds like a soundtrack to a final fantasy game. Not my cup of team but enjoyed it.
Enjoyed listening to this album but won't be revising it.
Nothing stood out for me but it was a pleasant listen.
As someone living in the UK I neither get it nor understand it. It does sound decent though and it didn't bore me to death. Dry your eyes is a good song and I remember hearing it when it first came out. So it gets a solid 3.
Good album with 2 great songs and couple of good songs.
This was very relaxing and pleasant to listen to. Really enjoyed it. It's definitely made me want to check out his discography.
I thought this came out in the 80s based on what it sounded. There are better sounding hip hop albums that came out before and around the same time. Rapping was a bit dry. It was a decent album but I didn't find it very interesting. The only song that stood out was - Music and Politics.
Sounded like a rock music with a country singer.
A good album with 4 great songs and the rest are just fillers. Yes it is an experimental album but it doesn't sound fully fleshed out. Vol 4 feels like a stepping stone to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Out of the first 6 Sabbath albums this is definitely one of the weakest ones.
I wasn't blown away by this but it was very interesting to listen to. It might not be my kind of music but I can appreciate the work that was put into it. It was an interesting mix of folk, indie and orchestral shit.
I am not sure if this is a must listen album. It might be the product of its time that I just don't understand. I just couldn't see it's impact or how influential it was. It sounds decent though.
I think my IQ level just went up.
Turned out to be quite good. Solid 3.
The Doors are one of those bands that I'm not into but somehow I end up enjoying their shit.
Not sure how influential this was but it sounds good and fun.
I don't remember anything about this album.
One of those albums that started as a 5 but ended up getting 3 after repeat listen.
There are quite a few albums from 60s and 70s in this book that could be dropped. I think this is one of those albums. I don't know if this a must listen. Sounds alright and nothing to write home about.
Definitely a very influential album.
Reading the reviews on here I thought I was in for a bad ride. This is actually pretty good. Not sure what these people are smoking. It may not be Dark side of the moon or the Abbey road but its definitely a must listen.
Maybe 2112 was a career defining moment for the band but I did not find anything special about this album.
It was enjoyable. The last five songs were a bit of a dud.
Hot damn. This was fucking amazing.
Unique but got uninteresting pretty fast.
Wolverhampton's own. It was fun. Enjoyed it.
Having listened to old John Lee Hooker, this album is different. The Santana collaboration was a bit meh. Apart from that it's decent album. I guess its a good introductory album to JLH and probably the reason why it is on this list.
I had heard 3-4 songs in the past without knowing it was them. Kinda surprised.
Absolutely loved it. Thug life, my man.
Not sure if this is essential and also too long.
Why is this an essential? Maybe the concept was cool at the time. Maybe it was influential at the time. I just didn't find it special.
I think this is a pretty decent album. But, why are the songs so long?
One of the greatest. Riffs galore
This album sounds pretty dark. Can't decide if it's a 4 or 5 for me.
I think I'm going to give it a 5.
Panama and Hot for teacher alone is worth 4 stars. The rest of the album is not just good, it's fucking good. So it's a 5.
This is a long album. But, there are way too many songs in here that are 4s and 5s. So this album is a 5 for me. Definitely a must listen.
First time listening to this album. I didn't expect it to be so heavy. Linkin Park definitely has a unique sound that has to be appreciated. Including this album in the list definitely helps one understand the early 2000 era. I totally agree with this album being here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Never knew Queen went so hard.
I don't know how influential it was but it was fun
It was pretty good but got a bit boring
Enjoyed it but nothing too special
Man's a genius in a fucked up kind of way
This was fun. Two massive songs and the rest were pretty fun to listen to.
Ok I've been through few salsa and samba albums now. I listened to every one of them all the way through. And I've concluded that - yeah this shit is not for me.
Enjoyed it more than all the salsa and samba albums I had been getting. In my book, this album is a 4.
What can I say - this album is the GOAT
ay-ay-ay, ay-ay-ay
them a tell me you
huggin' up a big monkey man
Interesting production. Few good songs but it didn't seem too groundbreaking.
It's a good album but a slog to listen to.
I'm not mad about this album being included in this list. But it's slow as hell. Sounds nice and good but just too damn slow and sad.
Started great then it was just meh
Listening to Abbey Road for the first time and I can see why it is considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
Definitely a must listen for sure. Now that I've heard it I won't be listening to it again. 😂
Regardless it was interesting listen. It didn't feel pretentious and was kind of playful. So I think it's a 4 in my book.
Like Radiohead without much variation. Probably made sense at the time it came out but it's too sad sounding.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this album at all. This is a fantastic album. Absolutely loved it.
A lot more fun than Bossanova
Not a fan of the sound. Appreciate Bruce singing about the struggles of the common people and the album definitely sets the mood. But I just found it a bit boring.
Very mellow and nice sounding album. Compared to Bruce Springsteen's acoustic album I got the day before this sounds way better produced. Enjoyed it.
Unique sound which has to be appreciated.
I understand why this album is in the list from the historical standpoint. I just didn't feel like it's something that has to be heard before you die. All in all it was OK and I did not hate it.
Nice hip-hop + r&b album that sounds funky as hell. Better than the Destiny's Child album.
Strong start but the rest of the album was aight
It really piqued my interest at the start. After the 4th song it became pretty average until Lead a normal life came on. Then Biko came on and not really a fan of it. All in all it was a good listen. Whilst I appreciate the influence it had on the 80s music this is just a high 3 for me.
Wow this album sounds so fresh. It doesn't sound like it was made in the 70s at all. 100% essential.
I was expecting a fast and furious hardcore punk. I wasn't expecting a weird mix of punk and hard rock with R&B, funk and pop. I can see where Turnstile got their sound from.
Wasn't expecting it to be a fun one
Bjork is weird as fuck but her albums are always interesting to listen to. Enjoyed this one too. I don't think I'll be buying her albums any time soon though.
Yo, this is aight. A lot of the reviews here sound personal. It's like Nico did something to these people or they just live to hate lol.
Is it great? Nah. Is it perfect? Nah. It's rough around the edges but its 100% a must listen. I enjoyed it and liked how it sounded. A bit arty-farty but pretty unique shit. 3 solid star.
Very 80s rap sound. Fun though. Made history with rap/rock fusion so a solid 4 for me.
Neil young album I can get behind
Haters gonna hate. This is a great album full of bangers. All these haters will never sell as much albums as Metallica has. Eat shit, mofos. 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
This one was better than the other Morrissey albums.
One of those rare cases where I agree with the reviews here. I don't think it would have made any difference to the list if this album was left out. Anyway it was a decent album and not a bad listen.
I am really impressed by the cure since I started this project. I know they are a huge influential band but I've always dismissed them as sad whiny goths. Objectively though - their sound is so uniquely them.
This album seems to continue in the same vein as Seventeen Seconds. Maybe a bit more polished. I still prefer Seventeen Seconds. That album just sets the mood differently and probably a bit more groundbreaking than this one - sonically and thematically. Anyway this is a solid album if you solely focus on the sound and the uniqueness.
They can play but they can't sing for shit. Still love it though 😂
Some interesting things going on in the album. Not to forget that it also influenced one of the biggest bands of the 90s. So I get why this album is on the list. Solid 4 for me.
