Very cool record. The songs feel really well structured and performed, but for me the organ really separates everything on this album from the typical ‘60s sound. 8/10

I've always been pretty indifferent to the Doors. Sure, Morrison's voice is distinctive, and they've got a few classic songs, but overall ... *shrug* I was hoping that listening to this album would enlighten me, but my opinion remains unchanged. They're fine, but my life wouldn't be any different if they'd never cut an album.

I never listened to the entire album in one go, and it blew me away. I can imagine it knocked people off their feet when it was first released in the 60s. The Doors will always remain one of my favorite bands. Incredible album.

I "discovered" them back in my high school days back when Val Kilmer was trying to embody Jim Morrison on the silver screen, listened to the morning noon and night it seemed. Today I discovered that over the decades I've gotten over it. Nice trip down memory lane. A few songs I still really dug, but overall, tastes have changed.

Really loving the sound so far. Don't really care for Alabama Song, also has some questionable lyrics. "Show me to the next little girl, don't ask why" ???? Final thoughts: Loved most of this album, I wanted to give it 5 stars but that one song kinda ruined it. I would give it 4.5 if I could.

This album still sounds cool more than a half-century after its release. Like a west coast Velvet Underground.

Fully formed, well integrated and crisp and perfectly pitched to its moment, this as good a debut album as has ever been. Unique too. “Break on Thru” and “Light My Fire” are classics for a reason but every cut has a good bit to offer and there’s not a single throwaway in the whole lot. The playing — tight and polished with smooth and strong overlaps and transitions between the players — is a perfect foundation for Morisson’s vocals and attitude. Quite original-seeming as a whole despite the obvious influences of the parts. One tries to overlook the sexist bits.

Never been a fan, possibly the lack of a formal bassist. It's fine, overly repetitive in places and corny bar music in others. Separated from Apocalypses Now, 'The End' is a boring drone, 'Light My Fire' and 'Break On Through' still stand up though.

I have no nostalgia for this album but I can still appreciate how impactful this one is.

This is a tough album to rate - the hits are fuckin masterpieces, but there's also a lot of bland 60s psychedelic drivel. I want to give it both a 5 and a 1. Oh and fuck Jim Morrison's status as anything more than some idiot junkie. I think TISM said it best: "your mysticism is a load of shit, and so are all the girls you've rooted". 3/5.

My favorite album by one of my favorite bands, led by the famous Jim Morrison, and a landmark in the psychedelic movement. The music is mysterious with hard, mesmerizing, and iconic instrumentation. Just look at the crazy album cover! It's no wonder Morrison was such a counterculture role model. The vocalist Jim Morrison displays his talents alternating between multiple personas, from calm and dreamy to a chaotic psychopath. This album is one of my most enjoyable experiences while on psychedelics, as there's so much imagery and strange moments, and it takes the cake on Sgt Pepper by being more consistent. In fact, you can hear this album as a major influence on Sgt Pepper, notably in their famous track "Lucy in the Sky". Every song is fantastic. On first listen, you will be blown away by the epic solo on "Light My Fire" and the eery unsettling mood of "The End." But on repeated listens, you will fall for so many things on each of the other tracks. In fact, many of these songs are still being played on classic rock radio, so it's already an accessible album for most people to get into. Not a single weak song. Some may say it dips after "Light my Fire", but I say those losers are just biased cause they're not standard radio plays. "End of the Night" is one of the first dream pop songs. My only wish is that "Take It As It Comes" should be at a better position, but it does serve to help the dramatic transition into "The End" compared to "End of the Night." Even after dozens of listen, I still notice something new on each song, most notably "The End." I'd advise psychedelics or very sleep deprivation to spot them more easily. Yes, I got like 7 hours of sleep over a span of 78 hours by the time I listened to this album last night following (including an extended DMT trip a day prior), so my ears were already heavily hallucinating and was prepared to go further than what 2 tabs could tell me. Gives me plenty of time to process each mysterious scene pictured.

One of the best debut albums ever. After LA Woman and Morrison Hotel, the third Doors album so far.. all 5*

For a debut album, it’s shocking how many songs became hits or at least recognizable. Nothing is groundbreaking (by today’s standards at least), but for an album released during the heyday of both the Beatles and The Rolling Stones, it shows the Doors can hold their own, even though it falls apart a little toward the end of the album for me. Fav Track: Break On Through (To The Other Side) 4/5

This album is a darkly poetic masterpiece, definitely one of the best debut albums ever. There really isn't another band who ever sounded like the Doors, but their influence is massive on countless bands who came after them. It's brooding, artful, sexy and deeply cool. Despite these songs' ubiquity in our culture over the last 50+ years, musically the album still comes off as quite adventurous, with slow burning, strange progressions and loose arrangements. Both lyrically and sonically, these songs were always about exploration and opening your mind ("breaking through," as it were) to possibilities of the mind and body, the possibilities of music. The band also is broadly appealing and just so much fun to listen to. It's music that makes you think that also happens to totally rock. Yeah, "Alabama Song" is a weird outlier that probably didn't need to go on here, but it's also kind of fun. Happy to give this a 5. Best Song: Break on Through (To the Other Side). Such an immense kickoff to the album. Showcases Morrison's unique vocal qualities, with the keyboard accompaniment that really signifies The Doors. Worst Song: The Crystal Ship. I don't want to hear Jim Morrison croon and romance. I want the Lizard King. I want noise and passion and bravado. Overall: It's good. Weird and good. It still feels like they haven't totally nailed down their aesthetic here, and there are a few too many forgettable filler tracks, but that is easily overcome by the long, meandering, drug-fueled tracks like "Light My Fire" and "The End". Morrison's simple poetry and the unique blend of backing instrumentals just work well together. Ambitious but accessible.

Not sure when I’d listen to this album. It’s not background, dinner music, not party music, I wouldn’t have it on whilst out walking. I don’t get high and I think it would probably be good for that.

Here we have another band that played some of my all-time favorite songs, and yet I never listened to a whole album of theirs before. I was happy to start with their first and was never disappointed. "Light My Fire" is one of those favorites, as well as "The End." That one will always be associated with "Apocalypse Now" for me because it made the movie perfect. I was surprised and pleased to hear some different styles from those two epic pieces on this album. "Soul Kitchen" and "Twentieth Century Fox" are delightful. "Alabama Song" (the Marxophone!) and "Back Door Man" were really interesting takes on very different classics.

I started listening to The Doors in junior high to fit in with some kids that I wanted to like me. Glad I did! Fan of The Doors. Fan of this album. The intro of every track has me going “oh yeah, this one…I like this one…”

This is one of those albums that seem to be a raison d’etre for this list. It’s every bit as good now as it has ever been for me. One of those albums that make me want to join its magical universe. The organ-heavy arrangements enchant me. The dark hooks draw me into its shadowy world. The great harmonies seduce me. Timeless perfection. "Light My Fire" is one of the best songs ever created and would earn this album a 5. But I think "Break on Through" and "The End" could as well. It was also good to hear the whole album again, because it has been a while since I have done that. If anything I think I love it more now than ever.

Many memories

The Lizard King (Was he ahead of David Icke on this one?) and his band at their subversive best, proper Pyschodelia here. A Great debut that must have got the fans and rock journalists in a frenzy with "The Next Big Thing" headlines. Love this album and some really good tunes on this one but My Favourites are "Soul Kitchen" "Alabama Song" "Light My Fire" and "The End" Suitable for this list I think.

A tiresome album from a tiresome band full of their worst excesses - Morrison’s meandering sixth form poetry, shouting and moaning dressed up in pretension coupled with Manzarek’s wailing, screeching organ solos overpowering everything else on the track (which is a shame because the rest of the band are pretty solid). There’s the famous tracks you already know, plus plenty of filler, pale imitations of better blues rock or psychedelic rock where the doped up audience really are imagining The Doors are the key to unlocking the doors of perception, man. The problem is, you can accidentally be that but you can’t set out to be that. Stop trying so hard, guys. Can you imagine being at a gig where this happens?: ‘Morrison was well known for improvising spoken word poetry passages while the band played live.’ If this is his best un-improvised poetry I dread to think what his improvised work was like. Some choice morsels; ‘ Time to live/ Time to lie/ Time to laugh/ Time to die’ ‘ You know the day destroys the night / Night divides the day’ ‘ The days are bright and filled with pain/ Enclose me in your gentle rain’ ‘Here is Jane/ See Jane run’ Dont get me wrong - popular music can be totally disposable and throw away. It doesn’t have to be deep and meaningful. The problem here is that Morrison and the band think they and their music are deep and meaningful. The album concludes as you might imagine - with a ten minute plus self congratulatory number, an attempt at some long form jazz, not so much The End as When Will This End?

Somewhat boring and repetitive. They do a good job at creating a certain mood and I can see why people like them. The keyboard solo in "Light My Fire" is hot garbage.

My first favourite band when I was a teenager, but it was only after I'd fallen out of love with them before rediscovering them about 20 years later that I *really* understood just how odd they were even for that period. Having heard a lot more late-60s music in the interim gave me a bit more perspective on that. And the instrumental section of "Light My Fire" is a trip you don't get from much other music. One of those mid-60s recordings that's really better heard in mono, too.

It is pretty incredible for a debut. Hard to imagine a world where no one had heard these sounds before. Such a great atmosphere, timeless, an easy 5 stars. Faves: The End, Alabama Song

Man I had to scroll down quite a bit further than I expected to find a negative review of this. I wouldn't say I hate The Doors but do kind of think they're for high school boys who think they're more sophisticated than they really are. Man, that's a super pretentious thing to say isn't it? Even if it is, it for sure was a pretty good description of high school me. I definitely owned the double album greatest hits collection, it was one of my earliest Columbia House purchases and I definitely bought into the myth that Jim Morrison was like a real poet, dude. Listening to this now I think I'm liking it more than I would have believed. Maybe it's the fact that I don't really listen to classic rock radio anymore, so it's not as omnipresent in my life as it was back in the day. I'm not gonna say this is dated because that's a stupid criticism, what does it even mean? Morrison is a pretty good songwriter and maybe there's a cult of personality surrounding him (maybe? Lol) but he actually is an amazing front man and really no one else sounds like The Doors musically, certainly not in 1967 anyway. They'll never be my favorites again, that Crystal Ship has sailed (sorry. Also that song will always make me think of The Dead Milkmen, iykyk) but this might be their best album. 4 stars.

Last year I finally got around to reading 'No One Gets Out Of Here Alive' and Jim Morrison was even worse that you might have thought. A truly terrible person, even when he was a kid (army family brat) Some people passionately loathe the Doors. I love them. They were such a gateway band into music and literature. They're the band that every teenager needs at that time in their life. The singer might be a total dick but his songwriting and singing is great. And the band and their songs are really interesting thanks to those jazz (Densmore and Manzerek) and blues (Krieger) backgrounds plus Morrison's poetry. They still sound like no one else.

Like being on a ride to a Californian beach in a van driven by the Manson Family.

This is solid throughout but it has some of the most timeless tracks of all time in Break on Through, Soul Kitchen and Light My Fire, somehow nearly 60 years old? Deserves a 4.

This is fab, really like this. Almost falls out of the 4 category because it does get a bit self indulgent - to a lesser extent at the end of Light My Fire, and definitely on This Is The End. It's amazing that this album is 55 years old, there are bits of it that sound so fresh, and it keeps up the quality pretty well throughout. Some really nice changes of pace, too.

Mentally I can’t get past the connotation of the Doors with every neo-hippie in my life. 1994 Ravenswood, WV and everyone else is discovering psychedelic music and pot. I’m into the music but not the pot. Every song seems about 2x long as it should be and repeats itself endlessly. There’s a cult of personality around the dead members of the great bands but nobody cares that the other musicians’ post-death of the lionized martyr art sucked. Anyways. It’s fine.

The Doors always had this air of mystique about them for me, though I never got round to listening to any of their music until now. Such an unassuming name, now makes sense knowing it comes from the Aldous Huxley novel "The Doors of Perception". Definitely has that 60s psychedelic/hippy tones in there but they come across as much darker compared to others I have listened to in this era. Some of it is almost harrowing when connected to the lyrics. I expected to like this more. Truth is, I hated the first two songs (Break On Through/Soul Kitchen) but "The Crystal Ship" was a real highlight that broke the album into something more digestible. "Light My Fire" was the first tune I recognised, researching I found that this is probably because of the cover by Will Young. Unsure how I feel about this. "The End" couldn't be a more perfect end to this album.

Morrison is a charismatic front-man, and this album has some really quality psych rock. I think this is a bit inconsistent or at least not as appealing as some of the other psych being done at the time but the doors had a really wild yet refined style to them. The singles pop out here, even the ones i didn't know were singles, and the rest kind of fall by the wayside. Not that they're bad songs or anything but from the opener to light my fire to the closer the famous songs really cast a show.

I don't care for The Doors all that much, but this is a solid album.

I'm a sucker for a good organ line and this album holds some sentimental value. The lyrics are the sort that probably sounded deep if you were high but otherwise come off as kind of silly. 4/5 stars

The Doors achieve some of their most notable and impactful tracks in this album, and truly set their trajectory as a group. Morrison's gristle and erratic temperament is measured in this album as he sings with a polish and focus.

The thing about The Doors that I have always struggled with is the noodling. When there’s a mix between 3 minute pop songs and 10 minute wig outs it all seems a little unbalanced. I love a keyboard but less a fan of a keyboard solo! Has its moments but overall not my thing

I wasn't the biggest fan of this one. Wasn't bad or anything, I just didn't really dig it. I'm just not a huge fan of the electric keyboard sound, sad to say. Not to say it never worked for me, just not super often.

Amazing album! This has got to be in the top 20 records released by an American group. They had rehearsed the album front to back at live shows, that it took a few hours to record when they got in the studio.

The Doors' debut and self-titled album is avant-garde rock, yet feels as if the album is staple among rock listeners. Really good album

Excellent debut album by one of the most unique rock bands of all time. The Doors' sound is decade-defining, and it is amazing to see how fleshed out they were in their first studio release. I really enjoy Jim Morrison's low and haunting vocals, and the emphasis on the electric organ really makes this music stand out from other acts at the time. Instead of emulating the Beatles or The Who like a lot of other bands were doing back in the mid-late 60's, they went in their own direction which makes me respect them a lot. There are obviously some very popular songs on this record (Break on Through (To The Other Side), Light My Fire, and The End), but I would say there was not a weak song on this entire album. I listened to it in both stereo and mono, and upon these two listens, the track that stood out the most to me that I hadn't already heard was I Looked at You (added it to my Starred list). While I enjoyed this one quite a bit, I will say that some of the songs do blend together since they all feature the same instruments. I still think this album is great despite this, and I would recommend any fan of rock give this one a listen. 4/5.

Great album overall. Some tracks I wouldn't have missed, some are a bit long.

Outstanding album. Fun fact: my friend and I once used The End at the end of a high school theatre sketch (could there be a sentence which more perfectly describes what I was like in high school? I think not). The first sentence of the song was met with great hilarity from the audience. Anyway, we filmed the sketch and put it on YouTube, and then it got flagged for copyright infringement. We never took it down, so it's still out there, with the audio removed.

The Doors have been one of those bands that I skip on playlists, but I think it's just because their biggest songs are so overplayed. I'm enjoying this listen way more than expected based on my history with The Doors. It's quite remarkable that this is a debut album. It's excellent.

Almost played like a greatest hits album. Incredible that all of these songs came out on one album. It is truly incredible how many great songs they put out in such a short amount of time.

I liked this better than the other The Doors album that I listened to (L.A. Woman). But still It feels somewhat stale I don't know if it's just me not liking the style or if its something else. But I will say that "The End" is a really cool song, but not enough to make it a great album for me. Overall it did not grip me and engage me in the sound. Rating: 7/10

Yes, yes yes! Break on Through muthafakkas! The Doors, consisting of the wailing, moaning and screeching of Morrison, the synthesized sounds of Manzarek’s keyboard, the thumping of Densmore on drums rounded out by Krieger’s guitar, took us on am emotional and psychedelic rock and roll rollercoaster that will never be matched. They broke into the scene with their first album The Doors. Maybe not their best but a well-rounded classic first album non the less. Break on Through and Soul Kitchen are funky, straight forward rock songs that can’t be denied. The Crystal Ship provides the first glimpse into Morrison’s often times fragile state. Right back to the rock and roll with Twentieth Century Fox, shifting back to their unique quirkiness with Alabama Song (and must have whisky, oh, you know why!). Their performance of Light My Fire on the Ed Sullivan show will live on in infamy (and is sooo tame by today’s standards, but at that time, Jim was breaking through). Back Door Man is one of my all time favorite songs, not just of the Doors. Despite there being so few lyrics. Don’t know why but just LOVE the line ‘I eat more chicken any man ever seen’. I Looked at You is probably the weakest song on the album for me. End of the Night is the first song that takes us on that psychedelic ride. Some sound advice in Take It as It Comes. And of course there’s The End with a full 11 minutes and 34 seconds peak into the psychosis that made up Jim Morrison, the intellectual, rebellious, loving, insecure bastard posing as a confidant man. Note: album was close to a 3 star rating because as I said, not their best. But taking into consideration it was their debut album, some of the specific tunes on the album along with the fact their is no 3 star rating, went with 4.

Absolutely love thinking about what it was like hearing that for the first time. It’s fun and dark and weird in all the right ways.

The album with my favourite closing song of all time

This exceeded my expectations. I had always heard that the Doors are one of the most overrated bands of all time. However, I quite enjoyed this. Maybe still overrated, but perfectly decent. 3.5/5.

Hell of a freshman outing from The Doors. This album is still on frequent rotation for me. Morrison's lyrics with Manzeric's organ fills and Densmore's drumming are groundbreaking. Wish they would've lasted longer to see what else they could've contributed to RNR.

Just a whole lot of meh here. Didn't love or hate any of the tracks. Liked Light my fire (fave track), but not in love with any of them. Mildly forgettable album for me, I don't know what it is. Just made me wish I were listening to the Kinks or the Beatles.

A classic. I listened to this a lot as a kid with my grandfather. Jim Morrison was a fucking poet. A real shame that he died so young. I really would have loved to see him churn out so much more music.

Super band, ate this up as a teenager

This is a solid album but I found myself annoyed at some of the sounds.

God, I totally don't know what to do with the Doors... Morrison is a total pretentious prat and not nearly as deep as he pretends, the band are a glorified lounge act... and yet, and yet, THIS record is surprisingly listenable. Most songs are 3 minutes or under, not enough time to outstay their welcome, and the tunes are catchy, the band can swing a little bit and their dynamic interplay is not too bad. The lyrics are not TOO dumb (for the most part). Light my fire and The End have a tendency to drag on a bit. I really want to hate the doors, but this album is kinda fun. I can forgive the band for this record. (Footnote: Alfie did point out that the opening of Soul Kitchen sounds a lot like Walking on the Sun by Smashmouth. Just sayin')

Liked the sound, but wasn't a huge fan of the lyrical styling

Absolutely fantastic. "The End" is one of my favorite all time songs ("Apocalypse Now" anyone?) Would love to blast this one on the stereo, or car with the windows down. The crazy stereo mixing actually works great, I usually hate that, but it just puts this in the time period so perfectly and the separation of the instruments is cool.

I know I should like it more and give it all the stars it deserves. It's the effing Doors. Everyone knows thm and respects them. But, to be honest, it all sounds the same and the recording quality is underwhelming. Even for their time. I could not see myself enjoying it a bit. 2 Stars

Wasn't a fan in high school, not a fan forty years later. Difficult to stay awake while listening. Light My Fire doesn't warrant the length of the song. Are people really fans of the group, or fans of being a fan?

After an endless British expedition through the desert with only IPAs to drink, 1001 returns to the land of the free and delivers a stone cold classic American record. Full of diesel, sleeze, arrogance. Every track is either perfect or imperfect and interesting. I think at some point recently it became fashionable to hate on the Doors, but that's silly. So what if the poetry is amateur. I'll stand up for you, Jim. You're the ideal brooding wild man. You have one of my favorite quotes on being fat "I was 185 pounds. I felt so great. I felt like a tank. I felt like a large mammal or a big beast. I could knock anybody out of their way." A-

“Father…yes son…I want to kill you.” I just got this on vinyl from my record club. It’s a great combo of swingin’ sixties lounge and late sixties psych. Goes back and forth between dancing playboy bunnies and general Kurtz. Jim Morrison’s lyrics might be a bit overwrought, but we can for give the ol’ king snake, all these songs are undeniable, not a bad one in the bunch. All got radio play but one, and it’s still a banger. On the backbone of catchy keys and guitar licks it really shines. I don’t revisit the doors as much as a used to, but when I do, I really enjoy. It’s fun to imagine how weird/fun Jim Morrison would’ve become had he made it to old age. 5.

This earns a rare 5 stars from me. Did either of you watch "Val", the new Amazon documentary about Val Kilmer? If you haven't, let me save you 1 hour, 49 minutes of your lives with a succinct recap: "I played Doc Holliday and Jim Morrison, everyone should give me all the best parts in all the best movies and it's UNFAIR that I don't get what I want and now I have cancer." What I'm trying to say is don't watch "Val", just listen to this album, twice.

Enjoyed listened to it properly for the first time and the journey of the highs and lows (some a bit too depressing!) of the album as a whole. Good melodies. Didn't like the plinky plonky electric keyboard. Great guitar solos.

Very fresh for its time. Some of the tracks still have a feel that’s never been imitated well others, like the Kurt Weill standard , must have give Bowie inspiration if not cover to try it himself. I’m still not a Doors fan, but this one LP holds up.

The best debut album ever? Probably. All killer, even "Light My Fire" which I forgave when I became a Doors fan.

I've listened to this album quite a few times. This like wild mixture of Jazz, Blues, rock, and a heavy dash of poetry. It slaps, hard. Break on the through, what a solid fucking intro song for a band on their debut album. It sticks with you. Also man, I wish more modern music incorporated Organs more into the sound. It's so solid.

While personally, never loved "Light My Fire," and I prefer more blues-infused songs from the Doors, each song on this album is amazing. Legendary debut album.

Lyrically, I never really know what's going on with The Doors. I don't really care, though, because I enjoy them musically. With the exception of the more "circus-y" vibe ones.

My friend Beth gave me a cassette tape of this album in high school. I listened to it on the bus ride many times, and fell in love with it. There are a few "weaker" or less memorable songs ("I Looked at You," "Take it as it Comes"), but generally I can listen start to finish and still be in awe. Favorite song: Break on Through

Having no previous exposure to The Doors I listened to their debut album without nostalgia and I still could recognize most of the tracks, that's how influential they are. Very good first album.

I guess my last review telegraphed that I'd be heading upstairs with my rating for this one. Who knew we would get it the next day. It's a solid album top to bottom. imo The End is The Doors' best song. The lyrics show Morrison as a cross between a literary intellectual and a Rock and Roll brat. An interesting perspective is that this was released before Sgt Pepps. Lennon's Tomorrow Never Knows and She Said She Said were released around a year earlier. The End is in the same neighbourhood as those two songs. I can't say that about many other songs. Also of interest is that the song was 11 1/2 min. which is long by any standard. Many long songs from back in the day now sound too long. The End has aged wonderfully and when it ends I wish it would keep going.

A terrific debut album. I can imagine buying it and dropping the needle to Break on Through. What a start! I like the way Ray and Robbie lay down the foundation for Jim’s rants. There are some real classics here and the supporting tracks like End of the Night and Crystal ship are great ballads. And it’s something that they covered Kurt Weill and Willie Dixon songs on the same album! I’m not a fan of 20th Century Fox and the keyboard solo in Light My Fire goes on a bit...

I groaned when this came up today as it was the second Doors album in as many days. But to my surprise it was much better than Morrison hotel. Even more impressive is the fact that this was their debut album. Morrison’s powerful voice and Manzarek’s keyboard playing are standouts. The highlight for me are the organ and guitar solos in Light my fire. The only song that I really didn’t like is the Bertold Brecht / Kurt Weill inspired Whisky Bottle.

Very classic Doors stuff; vocals and instrumentals work perfectly together and the length of songs is fit ideally. Nothing much to say, great album.

First time listening through all of a Doors album and it was a decent listening. I really liked the instrumental breaks and the loose feel of the longer songs and Break on through was a great song but was tempted to skip some of the album.

I think I'm getting too generous with the 5-stars, but this album is so good. "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)" is my favorite track followed closely by "The End". Then you have the hits, of course.

That Byrds album came out the same year and this is massively more interesting. However, I could probably take or leave a fair number of the tracks. The End is an iconic and great track - Is it enough for me to buy the album? I think so but I probably wouldn't splash out too much

I know that this is not a popular opinion, but man, I can't do this. It's just straight 60s with very little anything to it. As much as I've heard a few of the songs over and over, it's not something I like listening to overall.

I have difficulty separating the album from the movie. Break on Through is a great, quick track. Songs like light my fire and The End are still good for a listen now and again.

More style than substance on the Doors debut here. Some good tracks and great singles but a bit meandering for my tastes.

Great flow overall, fantastic album from start to finish.

The Doors

A lot of classics on this album. Starts off great and finishes. This is The End didn't need to be 11 minutes long.

I get The Doors were a big deal. I get they influenced a whole lot of people in their day and since. But I don't know if I can ever be so under the influence of either drugs or alcohol to make their music not be boring as hell. The organ is too fucking loud on every song. I'll round up the score to the next star for the Oedipus Complex part in the final song.
