Merry Christmas to the generator! These definitely didn't contain the best or my personal favorite renditions of the songs that were featured, but it did good enough of a job, it got me in a nice mood, and come on, it's Christmas. Can't be too hard on this one

No te pierdas, expándete. Feliz Navidad.

This would have hit much harder if it was on our actual Christmas which in this part of the world is on January 7th. I appreciate the attempt though! Also, as someone who *doesn't* like Christmas and its festive songs, I really liked the music and singing on the album.

Could have done without the Phil Spector monologue at the end, but so many classic versions of Christmas songs on this one.

Happy Birthday Santa! Definitely not random! I wonder what happens next Xmas? This sounds great! Next!

Best Christmas album there is

7- GOOD

These are mostly songs I don't like but in the best possible versions. That makes it tricky to rate. I'm guided by two considerations: i. I'm going to have to hear these songs anyway, so they might as well be done well ii. It's Christmas Go on then... 4 stars

Yes, you have to turn it off before the last track but it’s still the sound of Christmas

Love the arrangements especially the drums in a lot of the songs. The wall of sound, the Christmas standards, a great time. The one thing, listening to this critically is maybe the shout singing, but I haven’t made up my mind if that’s necessarily a bad thing

Spector aside, this is a banging Christmas album. Cheerful renderings of classic tunes, lush and big sound. Wonderful mixing and layering of great vocal performances. Darlene love kills it (not as much as Phil though oof, fuck him it’s deeply unfortunate this is very good)

Tää oli ihan letkeä, tähän aikaan sopivaa joulumusaa...

Absolutely marvelous !

Can't imagine getting this at any other time of the year. I'm listening to this on the 25th of December, and it's very lovely.

It doesn't get any better than this!

Great album of Christmas classics. Super creepy to hear Phil Spector talking over silent night at the end given what a profoundly awful human we eventually learned he was. But I’ll definitely honor these great musicians putting out some all time great Christmas music.

For little old me?

*All time Christmas album. Would be a 5 if Phil Spector didn't turn out to be a monster.

A fantastic Christmas album. Forget Spotify's Christmas playlist, just put this banger on.

Every Christmas I used to make a background playlist for the chaos: preparing vegetables, debating whether the ham was actually cooked, stress levels steadily rising as the planned serving time approached and parents and in-laws arrived hungry, helpful, and offering far too many cooks in our small kitchen. The easy part of the playlist was around the classics I already loved, or knew had to be on there: John & Yoko's political classic (also produced by Spector), Mike Oldfield's unhinged guitar workout, Mariah wanting everything, and more recently, Paul McCartney's strange synthy money-maker, which I've gotten a recent appreciation for, after seeing it performed live last year by Macca himself and a choir of schoolchildren. But the playlist would always run out. I'd be nowhere near the stereo by then, too busy rescuing the brussel sprouts or checking the cooking schedule (and checking it twice). Spotify would take over, the Christmas songs would keep coming, and before long things would get repetitive. Well, I realise now that all I had to do was put on this album to save myself a lot of effort. With only a couple of exceptions, one of them a spoken thank-you message, every track here is a Christmas classic. I'd already heard them everywhere: soundtracking the Late Late Toy Show, turning up in TV Christmas specials, blaring from tinny supermarket speakers. These songs have been part of the Christmas atmosphere since childhood. I just never realised they all came from the same album. Giving traditional Christmas songs an early-60s doo-wop Wall of Sound treatment was an inspired move. It works so well that almost every track went on to become a seasonal standard. As we listened, each song after another an undeniable classic, we kept joking about how obscenely rich this album must have made Phil Spector. Of course, it's impossible to listen without thinking about the darker side of him: the gun fired into the studio ceiling during the John Lennon recording sessions, Ronnie Bennett effectively imprisoned in her own home, putting a gun to Leonard Cohen's neck, telling him "Leonard, I love you", to which Cohen replied "I hope you do, Phil", keeping Dee Dee Ramone from leaving a studio session early by, you guessed it, pulling a gun on him, and ultimately the murder conviction. So when Spector speaks over "Silent Night" at the end, it leaves the album on an unsettling, uneasy note. But let's forget about the madness of Spector, and concentrate on the album itself. I mean, it's Christmas after all. The music here speaks for itself. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" stands as the lone original, yet became another eternal Christmas song. More than that, the doo-wop sound itself is now inseparable from Christmas, largely because of this album. Next year, I won't be stressing over playlists. I'll just put this on and let it do the work. Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄

The irony of me struggling to find a Christmas album to open presents to yesterday and I hadn’t checked this site until Boxing Day…

A very nice collection of Christmas classics

Christmas classics - what more is there to say?

Absolutely gorgeous collection of Christmas classics. Throw this on and brighten any holiday party. Favorite track: Sleigh Ride

MerryMerry. c

Classic early 60s girl group sounds, singing familiar Christmas favorites. Unmistakable who's singing what when you know the artist(s). This is warm, comfortable and nostalgic.

This album does exactly what it sets out to do, and it does it loudly, confidently, and without apology. The Wall of Sound isn’t a bug here, it’s the whole point. Sleigh bells piled on sleigh bells, choirs pushing everything forward, pop songs treated with the same seriousness and excess as teenage symphonies. If you’re open to that aesthetic, a lot of this works really well. There are genuinely great versions on this record. When the arrangements lock in and the performances hit their marks, it feels joyful, kinetic, and alive in a way that a lot of Christmas music never manages. It earns repeat listens, especially if you already like holiday records and don’t need everything stripped down and tasteful. What keeps it from being a five for me is consistency and restraint. Some arrangement choices miss small but important emotional beats, and a few moments feel more like production bravado than definitive interpretation. The highs are real, but they aren’t uninterrupted. This is still a very strong Christmas album and an easy seasonal staple. It’s fun, historically fascinating, and often fantastic. Just not quite untouchable. A solid four stars: one I’m happy to return to, even if I wouldn’t call it flawless.

I assume this is the best Christmas album ever, because it sounds like it.

Strong-armed this onto the living room speaker system for a soundtrack while the whole family did the Christmas morning gift unwrapping routine/accidentally invited the damned "separation of the art from the artist" conversation back into the household re: Phil Spector's murder conviction/got my sister's boyfriend signed up on this website. Merry Christmas to all. Ring-a-ling-a-ling-a-ding-dong-ding

Its christmas music. great for 2 months of the year.

Feel like several half cooked songs

Basically had finished Christmas by the time I listened to this, so was kind of over Christmas music at that point. Despite that this is a good album all the way through. Sleigh Ride and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) are two absolute classics that should be in any regular Christmas playlist. The rest of the album holds up and makes it a decent listen, except for the final track. I don’t need Phil Spector talking to me and I didn’t need to learn that he sounds like a knock off Ira Glass

A classic. Perfect album to celebrate a very merry Christmas :)

Lovely way to start Christmas Day! Not sure I’d be giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️if I got this in July, but I guess that’s the whole point of a Christmas album 🙂- Merry Christmas ⛄️🎄🎅🏼

This is actually really good, but, well, it's an album of Christmas songs, there is nothing to actually hate about the content. So, nothing outstanding but for sure it is quite nice. Though I wouldn't listen to it out of Christmas time. Sure, today is Christmas, so, Merry Christmas everyone! Let's see what's tomorrow's surprise...

Some real bangers on here.

Merry Christmas 🎄

180/1001 :: Phil Spector - A Christmas Gift for You Heard before? ✅ Would I revisit? ❌ Rating: 8 Listen before you die: Every Christmas I had heard a bunch of these songs before but I didn’t realize they were all on the same album. And frankly now I’m wondering; is this the greatest Christmas album ever made? I think it’s in the conversation. Also Darlene Love smoked these songs, wow. Phil Spector might have been a killer but that lunatic also slayed this album.

Listened to this on 12/23 and around twice the year before including a radio broadcast segment about this album. Some great Christmas and movie hits are in this one but the damn last track is just weird. Shut up Phil

don’t really like christmas songs but these ones are wholesome to listen to, reminds me of a different time

Merry Christmas 🎄❤️

I had heard songs from this album played for years but I never knew they came from one place. This has new been added to my annual holiday rotation.

Darlene Love is a goddess.

Perfect gift on Christmas Day - in this regard a 5 - but not very applicable any other day. 4/5

This album is a classic for a reason. Great songs, the Wall of Sound production, and it just gives that holiday spirit. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is one of my absolute favourite Christmas songs.

Great fun and incredible artists. I look forward to listening to it next Christmas.

A fave!

A Very Special Christmas 3 is my personal favorite Christmas album, but this one's in the top 5 for sure. Did Phil Spector murder a woman 40 years later? You betcha. Does that make this any less of an album? Nope. Influence 5 (pretty sure this was the first big various artists holiday album). Hits 4. Quality 4. Intangibles 3 (I'll dock him a point for the murder here). I really like non-traditional Christmas music 5.

Classic Christmas album, essential holiday listening

A solid slice of girl group/soul and most tracks are still endearing after sixty years

I'm going to ignore the Phil Spector of this and just focus on the music. When my children were young, there were three Christmas albums that got played as we decorated the house. The most beloved was A Very Special Christmas, which should be on this list if it's not (I guess I'll find out next year?). There was A Charlie Brown Christmas. And there was this record. Darlene Love is the star of the show, and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is one that I'll save to a playlist and never skip. This is all around fun to listen to at this time of year and brought back many fond memories of holiday seasons past. Also, I do love the random generator sometimes not being so random. A perfect choice for today.

I love Christmas music, and listen to plenty of it from Thanksgiving through Christmas. This is good, and a couple of these might just make it to my personal Spotify Christmas play list. Darlene does a nice cover of White Christmas, but that song is Bing's. Love this cover of Sleigh Ride. 4.0

I thought this wouldn't be too great of a album. Because Christmas songs... but Christmas songs aren't bad when not exposed to the overplayed ones and especially these soulful, Wall of Sound production technique renditions of the classics. The Ronettes songs defintely stole the show, when it comes to the band selection Highlight Song/s: "Frosty the Snowman", "Sleigh Ride" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"

some good, classic Christmas music

Sheer festive joy. When Phil Spector’s wall of sound plays behind Darlene Love, it’s like twinkling fairy lights coming on. This is my all time favourite Christmas album. In retrospect, Big Phil probably should have stuck to slaying Christmas anthems.

Proper Christmas classics here (1963 release).

I listened to this in May to see if it was still good. ANd you know what, it is. There are better versions of a good chunk of the songs on here, but that doesn't mean these are bad versions. The only bad song might be Phil Spector's stupid version of "Silent Night" which is a lot worse once you know about Phil.

Received on Christmas Day, my first since I started…Album #261! Perfect for today, obviously.

It’s such a shame that these legendary acts had to work with such a tormented, yet supremely talented, producer. I wish I would’ve been given this album in July… hearing it on Christmas Day when I’m already so sick of Christmas music is skewing my opinion. Fuck Phil Spector, but long live these amazing acts.

Christmas songs are weird. You know all the lyrics, but the voices and arrangements are different. Then you come across albums like this where you know it. Like it's ingrained in your head and you had no clue it was because you didn't own this album but you have heard the songs on the radio, or in a store or at a company party. Like you know them so well but you would remember Spector being in the title. So you know it wasn't that you owned it. Christmas songs are a weird cheat. So many bands have a Christmas album that you don't know about. So many songs are simply missed yet years later you stumble across it and go how do I know this?!?!

Best Xmas album ever.

For such a violent and weird psycho that Phil Spector was, he sure knew how to inspire The Ramones... They are not on this album though.

Glad we had a Christmas album pushed on us, but I put my list on pause so I only got around to listening to this at the end of January which kind of fucks the vibe a bit. I’ve heard this before though, and it’s a solid Christmas album made better by Phil Spector’s production, even if the man himself was a worthless piece of shit.

Happy Holidays🎄🎁🎅

Good old school Christmas album! Lots of classic tunes!

I got 2 problems with Phil Spector, 1. Some of his production is atrocious. 2. He literally killed somebody. Putting all that aside this was a nice Christmas album. 4 stars

Slaps...for a Christmas album ofc

An excellent Christmas album. Almost all of the Ronnettes’ and Darlene Love’s contributions are brilliant and Sleigh Ride and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) are among the greatest Christmas songs

Fun covers of classic Christmas tunes.

un clasico, lleno de bangers

251223 18:04 4

Very on brand for the holidays. Well done.

I don't like Christmas music, but good gravy is this almost perfect. Mostly because of Darlene Love. Also, double infinity fuck Phil Spector.

Didn't realise so many of the most well known renditions of xmas songs were on this album. Didn't need the message from Phil at the end. 4/5.

Well I fell off the wagon on my 1001 albums challenge back in December and playing some catch up today. And that's why I'm listening to a Christmas album on Valentines Day. Well, these are definitely some of the classics that I like to hear during the holiday season. Ronnie Spector's voice is divine. But it's a various artists Christmas album and it's hard to give it a full 5 stars. I'll go with 4.

A pretty solid Christmas album with a lot of the classics. A couple of variations from the norm but overall good.

certified Christmas Classic, except for the part where it's "from Phil Spector". can't beat a Motown standard though.

I mean it’s Christmas music.

Definitely one of my favorite Christmas compilations now

Leuk zo voor de kerst. Kan dit wel waarderen.

Perfect timing haha. Just an half hour album, rocky christmas songs, some to hum or sing along. Would'nt listen to it more than onve a christmas tho.

buon natale

This album has an absolutely cursed history for a happy jolly Christmas album. From being released on John F Kennedy's assassination day, to the producer being a convicted murderer and apparently a nightmare to work with. Anyway this album absolutely slays and has iconic versions of classics and a very good original. Minus one point for the literal slaying.

the classic sound of Christmas. shame about the murder.

Anytime I hear a track from this album it makes me feel Christmassy. It's a beautiful soundscape that is the music essence of Christmas.

Look I hate Christmas music and I hope Phil Spector is burning in Hell right now But if you have to give me Christmas music, I'd happily stop being a total scrooge for an hour or so and listen to this. I think this is exactly the place where the wall of sound is unquestionably the right production choice. It can't be 5* because it's Christmas music but it gets a 4.

Instant Christmas classic with Spector’s orchestral production.

For a Christmas album, probably second best (after Vince Guaraldi). Gotta love the wall of sound

Such a great Christmas album - full of classics. Great arrangements and vocals throughout, and delightful to catch up on even in mid-January.

Genuinely surprised me just how much iconic Christmas music is crammed onto this!

Classic Christmas Songs from one of the best producers of all time. Classic wall of sound production and some of the best studio musicians ever, the wrecking crew!

Discazo. Participación de grandes artistas. Voces hermosas.

Fun covers of classic Christmas tunes.

Christmas!

This is the first non-random album. It's a Christmas compilation album. I don't know how to rate it. Well, it's a really good compilation of holiday music. Some of them are classics, some of them sound like something that's playing in the malls. It was unexpected to get this album today, it's a real good easter egg. This album was released on November 22, 1963. The same day JFK was assassinated. What really went on between Marilyn Monroe and the Kennedys, and who really pulled the trigger on JFK? — Special Agent Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks So, a Christmas Gift that we deserved, I guess. Ironically, Phil Spector killed someone with a gunshot in the mouth in 2003. 4/5🎄 —————————————— No liked songs

It's fucking Christmas

Was it the best Christmas album, no. Will I play it at Holiday functions in the future, yes. While Phil Spector is a gigantic piece of shit, he was one hell of a producer and the wall of sound he's known for comes through on this album.

4/5 - Christmas bangers all the way through

it’s like. THE christmas album

christmas is a good time for the wall of sound

I always forget that Phil Spector shows up on Silent Night. Not a comforting voice to hear. But what a mind! Ten years ago, we felt so free to live without the spectre of impending doom. Now we have no SOPHIE, no Phil Spector, and no MF Doom! Genuinely great assembly of Spector's various girl and pop groups. The definitive Christmas albums that isn't just timeless piano ballads. All due respect to The Beach Boys and Bing Crosby (& Ringo Starr), this is the Christmas album to end all Christmas albums and it needed a Jewish man's vision to make that happen. Best Tracks: Sleigh Ride, Winter Wonderland, Parade of the Wooden Soldiers

"A Christmas Gift from Phil Spector" would be an awesome postmodern horror movie. Keep this album as the soundtrack. It would be bananas.

It’s Christmas

If you can overlook the dodgy, not to mention criminal, background of the producer (but hey, which of us is perfect) it's a great Xmas listen. 4*

Not as good as the rat pack Christmas album but very enjoyable

Randomly generated my ass.

Poptastic, creepy, oof, oooh!

It’s truly amazing how many classics came out of this one album. I knew most of the songs without ever seeking out the record. But even so, there are overlooked tracks that deserve a little limelight. Personally, I’ll be singing “A Marshmallow World” for seasons to come.

A timeless collection of Christmas tracks tainted by the name of a toxic man. Every track by The Ronnettes is perfect. The rest are quite good too, but that Frosty The Snowman rendition always brings me back to goodfellas…

If more Christmas music were like these, I think I would suffer Christmas depression less. Also, I believe, all Christmas music should be recorded with wall-of-sound technique

Highlights: White Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus

One of the best Christmas albums, gives us possibly my favorite “ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ding-dong-ding” in any version of Sleigh Ride.

Listened on the way to PA a day before getting this as the album draw. I love Phil Spector, the Ronettes, Darlene Love etc and this style of music, many of these are THE version of Christmas songs…not sure if his pervy, self-indulgent over the top speech on “Silent Night” adds to its charm or is a demerit but I’m happy to give a 4. Tis the season

Great holiday. Will play it every year moving forward

Great Christmas album, banging production. Shame he's a murderer.

4/5 for christmas music, 2/5 for everyday listening tunes. unwrap the score and see what it got! 🎁

Fuck you Mariah Carey and Wham. This is what the real Gs listen to on christmas. (Nothing against Mariah and Wham, I was joking. This is still better tho)

A jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra, Blue Christmas med Elvis och The Phil Spector Christmas album (som mitt exemplar utgiven 1987 heter) är de enda julskivor jag behöver. Darlene Loves Christmas (Baby please come home) är klarast lysande julstjärnan i den här samlingen, men också hennes båda andra nummer (White Christmas,Winter wonderland), The Crystals Santa Claus is coming to town och The Ronettes Frosty the snowman är värda sina fyra skumtomtar.

Up from 3.5, in the holiday spirit. The Darlene Love stuff is amazing; much of the rest is good, but the Bobby whatever wasn't. And I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause is still unbearable.

An extra point for landing on Christmas Day. A fun Christmas album from some greats.

Classic, the song of Christmas and Good Fellas.. The spoken bit of weird, knocks a star off

I have an urge to watch “Home Alone”.

Heard so many times. Definitely up there with the Beach Boys Christmas. As weird as Phil Spector is, he knew what he was doing. I feel like I can't give it a 5/5 for a few reasons, but it's a strong 8/10

Phil Spector talking about the magic of Christmas at the end low key ruins this

Great selection of songs from some great artists. You could say this album “kills”…

Who doesn’t like Christmas music? But honestly when this came on the list I missed it but I probably would have been over it by that point because I had been listening to Christmas music for a month and a half at that point. But not in March it’s great. All the classics.

Alot of iconic songs but wouldn't listen to this on any other day than Christmas. 4

4 stars based on production and recording not the actual songs

Excellent, ground breaking, original yet charming.

All good fun and appropriate for the day. Im sure there is a better example of the Wall of sound though.

Decent and appropriate. Merry Christmas!

Solid 4 - the best Christmas album I’ve ever heard

The original Christmas album which inspired countless compilations and covers. Almost every song here is the progenitor to a “classic” version of the same song but a couple of songs still survive as the ultimate version on deeply unoriginal Spotify playlists. A handful of oddities (most notably A Marshmallow World!) stand out for no reason other than the fact they do not have the world-beating fame of the other songs surrounding it. And it stands up! It was the best party record in our household this Christmas.

Y'know what, hell yeah. I think that 60s Christmas music was the peak of the genre, its only declined since, and you cant ask for a much better sampling than this collection, even if it does get a bit one-note. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is easily one of the best secular Christmas songs ever

Say what you will about Phil Spector, but my God did the man produce probably the most irresistible Christmas album. So many songs remain the defining version, “Sleigh Ride” in particular, but I could listen to Darlene Love and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” every single day and never tire of it.

All of the Christmas classics. Just got this on vinyl two weeks ago.

I am so behind on the list.... today is the 7th April. I think actually though enough time has passed since last Christmas for this not to be that hard of a listen.

If we ignore the Phil Spector appearance at the very end, this is a delightful collection of Christmas tunes by some of the greatest girl groups to ever do it. And, unfortunately, Spector's trademark Wall of Sound production does shine through excellently on here.

I don’t think I’d like an entire album of 12 straight Christmas songs from one singer, cuz I feel like that would get old, but I like how it was a collection from different singers, all of whom I enjoyed. A lot of them I knew already, but some I didn’t and they were still solid! This would probably be like a 4.5 without the final, completely unnecessary addition from Phil Spector. *reads closer* wait, he KILLED SOMEONE?

Good classic ‘50’s Christmas

For a XMas album it's solid AF. Played this on repeat while cooking yesterday

Some of my absolute favorite renditions of the Christmas classics. It's rare that I put on "an" album of Christmas music for the holidays, but this one can absolutely be spun start to finish without ruining the vibe. Merry f'n Christmas!

This was a difficult one. I hate Christmas music. I hate American Christmas music. And Phil Spector is obviously an odious murderer. And I listened to this in grey mid January. But even I was surprised and couldn't deny how much ubiquitous Christmas music was on this album. Ignore Phil Spector's involvement and dare I saw I enjoyed it?

1001 has regifted this album to me. Glad the music is good.

While I get some people hate xmas music and especially hate Phil Spector... I was floored by how many of these recording are THE definitive versions of these songs. The only bad songs here are their version of Rudolph and Silent Night doesnt really work as a shout out track Favorite Songs: Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Hard to give a some what "objective" review on Christmas. Is good.

christmas album with ALLL the classics - so like... this is just so good. merri christmasu

Must have made so much money from royalties. Basically every song on this is the version that I know through movies, retail stores, tv specials, etc. apparently this guy murdered someone

If I have to listen to these songs, I would probably always choose these versions

Holiday magic. What else can you say?

Peak Christmas music

SO GOOD!!

Good christmas album

Just a delight. Energetic and sweet.

Love me a classic Christmas album, great!

This Christmas album contains the definitive versions of a few classics, like I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus. This could be a very divisive album considering that some people flat out hate Christmas music, but Christmas music always makes me think of my family and all of the good times that I've had with them. A good holiday album.

Sounds fantastic. It’s dated, but in the best way. They don’t make them like this anymore. The vocals and drums are all especially great. Merry Christmas!

yay christmas! some nice classics on here

A good collection of Christmas music

One of the better Christmas albums I've heard. Glad I listened to it, obviously won't listen to it until next year. Made me think of the restaurant scene in Goodfellas, but in Christmas form. I've never quite understood what the "wall of sound" is, but I know a Phil Spector produced song when I hear one.

Not even a Christmas music Grinch like me can grumble much about this album. There are so many classics in this album. Weird one to rate and rank, but heck, I'll give it a 4/5.

Darlene Love will always be the Queen of Christmas.... despite the fact that her producer is a convicted murderer

"Killer" (8/10, 4/5 on this scale and a Happy Holidays to you all)

4 stars It’s difficult to think of this as an album because it’s not something you’d listen to year round. It is so tied to the season. And it is not the work of one artist, unless you count Phil Spector. But this truly is perhaps the best Christmas record of all time. The songs are timeless- although they are also clearly a product of their time. It’s brief but it gets right to the point and doesn’t linger. It’s one song of another of Christmas pop tunes that are in and out.

Nice fun holiday album! 7.1/10

A decent Christmas music! I'll have to remember this next year when everyone wants to listen to Christmas music and I'd rather do anything else.

Really great christmas album

definitely a good xmas album, but xmas music is only good once a year

It's a solid christmas album 3.75

Well there’s a reason these are all staples on the radio come Christmas time. The wall of sound displayed with devastating effect.

Delightful.

Some great Christmas songs on here. What's not to like.

8/10 Great Christmas album, great feels

Nice christmas songs, better energy than Mariah Carey. I like the power in "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".

The soundtrack to every Scorsese movie.

very sixties but amazing for Christmas day

not listened

Christmas bangers

Listening to this cheerful album while realizing that it has been made by a murderer is kinda frustrating.. This album is good. It's a Christmas classic, but I just can't get over this "phil spector" situation. Anyway, Fuck Phil Spector

didnt listen

classic, brilliant

Get this album on a Chrismas =) Fine background music for holidays, but nothing special in 2025.

Classical Christmas songs, I guess I'm so used to listening to them in movies that they've lost their enchantment.

Christmas classic. Sounds like Xmas with my parents

8/10 so many classics and so fun and jolly

Genre: 60s Jazz Christmas Rating: 8/10. Classic Christmas album, makes me feel like I’m at grandmas house for lunch. Favourite song: White Christmas

It felt very cozy to listen to it

AMAZING!!! BEST XMAS SONGS ARE ON THIS ALBUM!!

Vintage christmas excellent for the season, like the soundtrack of a hallmark christmas movie

it was good but idk i prefer some other chirstmas songs

It’s the best Christmas album ever wow

I think I’d heard like 1-2 tracks from this one before but had never heard of this as an album and was unaware of its status as a classic. Really solid!

A good collection of classic Christmas songs.

perfect for christmas and loved the vintage sound of it

the perfect chrstmas album im ngl. had a wonderful time listening to this with my fam 10/10

Classics duh esp since i got this ON christmas day Amazing i love it

I love Christmas music that is not overplayed. It has vibe, sets Chistmas atmosphere and it is catchy. My second favourite type of music after victorian carols in this time of the year. Such an iconic Christmas songs i didn't even know are from this album.

Very good Christmas Album with all the hits. Favorites are Sleigh Ride and Winter Wonderland

i loved that it’s 1963. 10/10 Christmas vibe

veldig gode sanger for julen

Great Christmas album

nostalgia class

Lots of Christmas classics covered by artists who give a fresh take from the traditional.

this album reminds me of being a kid and watching "elf". i miss being a kid

Nice little old and cozy Christmas album, so many classics in there.

Buen clasico

This christmas was going rough. I had exams and just didn't feel the magic overall. But listening to this album made me feel so good and nostalgic.

classic christmas album that laid the groundwork for christmas songs to come. lovely listen!

Perfect for Christmas

Great Christmas vibe

Great timeless Christmas album I had never heard before. Will add to the rotation

I dont have proof but this feels like the Christmas album that started the Christmas music industry. Full of classics.

classique

p good, queen really got it like that huh

Hit after hit, this album is a staple for Christmas.

Damn you Phil Spector. Horrible man, some amazing albums.

Holiday must have

Just a fun collection of christmas songs

A great collection of Christmas classics and a very worthy addition to the many versions of those that exist. Not the one I grew up with but I might keep some with me

En juleklassiker ❤️

sehr positiv überrascht, tolles Weihnachtsalbum

This collection found me on Christmas so it was perfect - curated and classic. I think I am just drawn to classics.

i mean come on this is like the pioneer of christmas music

Sounds great. Too bad it is from Phil Spector

Classic Christmas Pop! Can’t go wrong with the Wall of Sound. Too bad Phil Spector is an evil man. The music is great, though.

Solid Christmas classics, some I'm less familiar with, some are the standards, some are solid renditions

Ho ho ho

nice way to break out the same old songs from the past month

Some great Christmas classics on this

Horrible man, great Christmas album

The quintessential Christmas album.

What a great Christmas gift 😁

Totally enjoyable Christmas album. But can never beat my own classic tastes

Delightful Christmas album. Favorite songs: I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Winter Wonderland, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

Really good up until the point Phil Spector beefs it at the very end by coming on the record and wishing us a Merry Christmas and thus not allowing us to try to forget that he was involved with this.

Classics with classics

Fitting Christmas album LMFAO. Yeah man exactly what you need to get into any Christmas mood you want, sad, happy, whatever. Phil Spector really knows how to get that sound, that's what he's known for. 8/10, Merry Christmas

Didn’t realize how many versions of classic Christmas songs were from this album specifically, Phil Spector is scary but the songs are good

Fantastic Christmas album. I've already listened to this a few times this year, absolute classic. 8/10

The OG rock Christmas album, so glad it’s on the list.

Obv Spector was a very bad man but boy oh boy could he produce an album

All the classics and the perfect day for them!

Solid Christmas album, can't listen to more than a couple weeks a year but this one definitely will be played next holiday season. 8/10

very good compilation

Theres a reason theyre classics

Really fun christmas album with Spector's shadow hanging over it

A banger of a Christmas album. I'm not into Christmas music but at least I now know an album to throw on if someone asks for some.

Had no idea about this, overall thought it was cool! I did recognize that christmassssss baby please come home song from the radio, but idk if I'd ever heard anything else from this album.

It's fun to listen to, you know lots of songs, very appropriate for this time of the year. 4/5.

Pretty decent holiday surprise. Great Xmas album even if Phil Spector is a murderer.

Surely this can’t be a coincidence, getting this album on Christmas Day?! Some classic Christmas tracks on here, with the Wall of Sound style featuring prominently.

Almost as if the album generator knew it was Christmas. And it does apparently as everyone gets this album on their first Christmas. Over the years I’ve heard a ton of Christmas albums. I remember my dad in particular playing Christmas records on Christmas Eve and Day - the only time they were played. It made it seem special as a kid. As childhood turned into adulthood, Christmas albums lost their charm as the commercial aspects and corniness grew thin. Listening to this record brought back memories of those childhood Christmas songs. The vocals are of course superb with Darlene Love, The Ronettes and The Crystals taking center stage on these lovingly produced songs. Other than the Spector soliloquy at the end, this is a perfectly realized Christmas record demonstrating how the Wall of Sound could contemporarize Christmas classics. These versions still hold up well today.

Yep it’s a classic christmas album. No complaints on christmas!

Such a bizarre mix of huge Christmas songs that you hear every year, and then less popular versions of the songs that you hear every year (with one or two unknowns). It was a strange listen, as I had to listen to it in April when I'm catching up on old albums, and sure the hits are great and everything has that Phil Spector touch (lots of sounds) Hey Phil Spector you murderous piece of shit, good job producing this one.

Immaculate production and some of the best renditions of these classic tunes. Laughed at the now-unintentionally ominous ending

Girl groups and Christmas aren't two things I ever associated together but it's wonderful! On Christmas Day no less! The final message from Phil is a bit creepy, especially given his penchant for abuse and murder. Oh well, happy Christmas to all!

I'd heard of Phil Spector and the Wall of Sound, but listening to this album while reading those Wikipedia pages helped me put both in perspective. Unfortunate that such an influential person did such awful things to the people around him. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" is an unimpeachable classic. The other songs on this album are also done well, particularly those done by Darlene Love and The Ronettes. When comparing to other Christmas albums it's a 5, when comparing to other albums generally I'll give it a 4.

It really matches the holiday mood. Lots of memorable songs that will never age. Merry Christmas 2025!

Merry Christmas you filthy animal Phil

The legendary Christmas album from producer Phil Spector. I'm not a fan of Christmas music, mostly because i'm sick of the same old recycled songs and that it's apparently impossible to create anything new. Sia did an incredible job with her original Christmas album, which deserves a 5/5 and more recognition, but that's neither here nor there. This is a great album because the musical groups involved did such a great job of creating a classic, upbeat version of all the songs. I enjoyed The Ronettes most of all, but they all did a great job. It's the kind of album you can put on during Christmas and not feel horribly depressed. As far as Christmas albums go, if I have to put on an album of the classic Christmas songs, this is the go-to. But if it's just me, i'm listening to Sia's or Kaskae's Christmas album.

Ya know, I'm so over certain versions of the Christmas classics this year. I've been listening to lots of death metal and stuff to cope. Fortunately, this album doesn't really seem to include any of those versions that I'm sick of. Good old perfectly decent takes on Christmas classics that are mostly fresh for me. I've definitely heard the Ronettes' "Sleigh Ride" and Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" - pretty much the definitive versions. Nothing wrong with them at all. "It's a Marshmallow World" is completely new to me I think. That's a fun one. Darlene Love's "Winter Wonderland" is a nice take. "The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" isn't bad but it's a low point of the album. Probably why I don't really remember any version of that song (I'm sure I've heard the original classical instrumental). I could also do without the 90-second Phil Spector monologue on "Silent Night". They all sound pretty much the same because of Spector's production but most of these versions are fresh enough to me that I enjoyed listening to the whole thing. Good choice for a Christmas album, I guess!

Stocked to the brim with Christmas classics, a fun and timeless record!

This album is literally the sound of Christmas. Most Christmas classics after this point emulated this sound for a reason.

my bitter and collegiate leftist bias against cultural christianity can take a break for this one. it's about as good as christmas can get. thank god Phil Spector is dead, eh? nothing but guilt-free listening here. deserves to be one of the 1001? yes

Maybe my new favorite Christmas album. Actually definitely my new favorite.

Good classic, but not annoying Christmas music.

Awesome Christmas album definitely getting this for my collection next year

This one is in my rotation every Christmas

Solid Christmas album

Thank you Darlene Love, The Crystals, The Ronettes and Bob B Soxx & the Blue Jeans for putting me in a right Christmassy mood. It's great that these versions of the songs are standards in themselves over 60 years after release. Would, and maybe should have been 5 stars, but it has to lose one for the Elephant in the Room, sitting in the corner with a gun in his hand, controlling the knobs and levers.

For an X-mas album it slaps.

this is a hard one to rate or make comments about because this is classic christmas. the ronettes, darlene love, the crystals. phil spector (despite being a very questionable person) did a good one here.

This was the first album I listened to where I really understood what Phil Spector's Wall of Sound exemplified. I really wish he had at least one extra bass player in there because it is really hard to hear. I think this is an iconic album. Aside from William Shatner's Christmas album, I think this is the best Christmas album released by humans. Obviously there are some cartoon and puppet bangers out in the world. -1 stars for Phil Spector as a person, which I feel will become a common theme as I listen to more albums.

So many bangers, would have been 5 stars if it was all Darlene Love and Supremes songs

Christmas classics

Decent renditions of some classic and some new Christmas songs. A twist of blues and R&B gives the songs a unique flavor, but I didn't feel that any of the songs exuded wintery or Christmas vibes.

AMOOOO músicas de natal AMOOOO sleigh rideeeeee ringa linga dinga ding dong ding
