Great start but with a lot of disappointing songs after the first three. Definitely not nearly as great as other radiohead albums

Really didn't like the mixing on this album, could barely hear anything except a wailing guitar. Possibly listened to the wrong (Bowie) mix. There's probably something enjoyable here, but not with this mix

Fun rock album, not very deep and they don't seem to take themselves very seriously. Some stinkers on here but also some definite classics like back in black and you shook me all night long.

Classic plunderphonics album. It feels like going on a journey/cruise. You go to different places, different emotions and feelings. Paints a beautiful picture

I had quite some fun with the album but it felt like a lot of the lyrics were quite outdated. All of the names in songs weren't familiar to me at all and I felt like i missed the messages they were going for.

Fine rock album, pleasant listen without many bad songs. Nothing too inspiring or revolutionary though

Felt like a huge breath of fresh air, surprisingly experimental for a pop album. Really enjoyed the opening songs and the overall concept of someone being so bothered with being ordinary that they're going off the deep end with everything. Very British. Some songs toward the end do drag on a bit much for my taste and get instrumentally less interesting

Beautiful instrumentation, extremely unique voice. Felt like it belonged to a medieval times. Not perfect, but its not possible to give something 4.5 Stars so it gets 5 from me

A lot of really amazing hits, the deeper cuts dont always reach the same level but the hits are amazing enough to the point where it doesn't matter much

Pleasant as background music, active listening made me think of better versions of songs on here. The live version of no woman no cry really beats the album version. Had a decent time, but i know there is a lot better reggae

I saw a review describe this album as 'penis music' and its oddly descriptive of the feeling of listening to this album. I had a weirdly good time with it, even though I wouldn't necessarily call it good

I didn't really like the album the first time i listened to it, quite experimental and unique. Then i listened to it a second time and it fell into place quite well and I enjoyed it a lot.

From the other reviews it sounds like this was a 'you had to be there' type of album where it was really good and influential at the time. For me it was a relatively boring album with a couple of highlights such as 'broken English' She definitely has a unique voice, but everything surrounding it was nothing special

One of the best disco albums with hit after hit. It's honestly impressive how many huge songs are in here. There's not a bad song in here and the highs are incredibly high.

Very enjoyable, great grooves and female vocals. I can imagine this being a huge success in clubs around this time. The raps on certain songs are definitely very bad, but are at least very funny. Back to life is an incredible song

It's not bad music, and there should definitely be a huge audience for it, but it's really not for me. It sounds a little bit like 'radiohead at home' without the huge peaks and experimentation, giving me quite the genetic and boring listen. Songs like bittersweet symphony and the drugs don't work are definite highlights

The first half of this album is honestly not bad and definitely overhated. The scientist and clocks are decent songs and the album has a good vibe to it. Then it just keeps going needlessly. I feel like this album could have been quite good if they were able to cut the fat from it.

Pleasant to listen to and doesn't overstay it's welcome. Putting Frank Sinatra over bossa nova was a great decision. It does feel quite dated/like music that would be played in a retirement home

It's probably really good piano playing but I'm not a musician so i feel like i dont have the ear for it. The random audience noises are hilarious

Not the best tribe album but still really excellent. Great beat selection and fun bars, absolute classic

Very distorted and beautiful album, something to zone off to, rather than actively listen. Songs do blend together a little bit, but to me this enhances the experience

Amazing riffs in this album, very interesting and dark sounds. Honestly just loved jamming out to it, even though that probably wasn't necessarily the intention

Eerlijk gezegd had ik meer verwacht van dit album. Het was zeker goed en de grote hits zijn echte highlights, maar veel van de deep cuts zijn niet echt mijn ding. De vaak onbegrijpelijke teksten en opgeblazen instrumenten hitten niet altijd. Ik heb het gevoel dat ik misschien gewoon niet angsty genoeg ben, of gewoon geen puber meer ben die zich identificeert met de teksten. De highlights zijn wel echt heel goed though dus alsnog 4/5

Ijzersterk begin, de eerste 3-4 tracks gaan heerlijk in elkaar over. Het voelt alsof ik naar een erg goede DJ set luister en in het publiek sta om mee te genieten. De tweede helft heeft gevoeligere en rustigere nummers, hier zit een goed nummer tussen, maar de meeste zijn helaas teleurstellend

Ik heb eerlijk gezegd niet veel gedachten bij dit album, het is niet per se slecht maar wel heel erg forgettable. Ik heb het album nu meerdere keren geluisterd en herinner me nog steeds bijna niks. Alles voelde decent maar middelmatig, geen echt uitblinkers en wel een aantal slechte nummers zoals space beatle

Een album met oprecht goede instrumentale nummers, vooral de lange nummers zijn highlights. Persoonlijke favoriet is 'the sound of someone you love going away and it doesn't matter' Ik was van plan dit album een 4/5 te geven maar de zopf tracks zijn aanzienlijk minder in kwaliteit. zopf milk was zo slecht dat ik het een punt minder moest geven. Het klinkt ergens een beetje als muziek die k/ms zou maken

Classic rap album, heel veel verschillende geweldige samples, zo enorm veel highlights op dit album. Je kan horen dat ze gewoon aan het genieten waren met alle skits en vage nummers. Misschien niet voor iedereen, maar zeker wel voor mij

Komisch album, leuke stukjes ertussenin alsof het een vaag radiostation is. Oprecht een aantal goede nummers hier en zeker niet slecht voor de tijd. Erg creatief ook met nummers zoals 'tattoo' waar hij een tattoo zet om mannelijk te zijn en vervolgens trots is op zijn vrouw met tattoos. Het was eventjes wennen maar ik vond het uiteindelijk nog best goed

Very fine album, it's short and sweet and doesn't drag too long. The songs don't get too repetitive either, but for the time I'd rather listen to other artists. The sound also sounds quite dated unfortunately, though I'm sure this was amazing if you were there for it

It's maggot Brain, already loved this album way before starting this and enjoying it even more while listening to it. Maggot grab brain is an 11/10 song for me and the rest goes very hard too. Incredible stuff, loved it

Who Let Mickey Mouse into their band in the first song... Past that there were multiple moments where the band felt like a punk version of 'acdc at home' It really wasn't for me, even though musically it's probably not terrible

Easy 5/5 Geen slecht nummer in het hele album en verschillende geweldige nummers. Er zijn goede redenen dat dit gezien wordt als een van de beste albums ooit.

Another classic album, my personal favourite Michael Jackson album as well.

Dit is een volwassen man die gepassioneerd als een tiener zingt en voor tieners/pubers schrijft. Welke volwassen man is nog steeds geobsedeerd met edgy woorden/high school. De mix/productie is daarnaast vrij slecht waardoor alle instrumenten modderig en onhelder klinken. Ik wilde dit oprecht niet nog eens luisteren, kon ook geen goed nummer vinden hier

Bizar album eerlijk gezegd, Zwitsers Franse industriële rock met orkest samples. Toch heeft het me wel gepakt op bepaalde momenten, de viezigheid en het oncomfortabele gevoel dat sommige nummers je geven is erg uniek en waardeer ik zeker. Ik denk dat dit nog hoger uit zou kunnen komen met meer tijd. Ook moet ik zeggen dat de latere bands deze stijl echt perfectioneren, waardoor het moeilijker is om dit album te waarderen voor wat het is

Best een prima album, een aantal highlights voor mij zoals im glad en call on me. Tegelijkertijd is veel van het album best verouderd zoals de zang op bepaalde nummers. Ook is de productie niet geweldig en kon ik zelfs met mijn koptelefoon niet altijd alles goed verstaan. Begrijpelijk voor de tijd, maar alsnog genoeg voor een minpunt

Really enjoyed this, took me on a journey and i'm sure this will grow on me even more as I keep listening to it. 4/5 for now, but probably will reach 5/5 when I get a chance to really listen to it a lot

Veel nummers hebben potentie maar halen toch niet het niveau wat het lijkt te beloven. Weinig uitblinkers, veel relatief gemiddelde nummers.

Really debating between 3 and 4. There's definitely good stuff on here, but none of it reaches the same highs as any later beatles albums. Oh Yoko puts it down to a 3 I think. Also 'how do you sleep'is just such A weak diss by today's standards

Het is niet per se slechte muziek, maar aan het einde wilde ik het album niet nog eens luisteren. Het was zo genoeg Ryan Adams voor mij. Misschien is het gewoon echt mijn smaak niet, misschien is het gewoon saai. Daarvoor zou ik het opnieuw moeten luisteren, maar dat wil ik niet :)

Erg goede live recording, glasheldere sound. Er zijn niet echt nummertjes die heel erg uitblinken, maar het is een prettige luisterervaring

Goede productie en gevarieerde instrumentatie. Ik ben niet de grootste fan van zijn stem/stijl van muziek maar moon dance was echt erg goed. Vooral de latere nummers vallen tegen in verhouding tot de eerste 3-4 in het album

Originally really didn't like it, until i gave it a couple More listens. This album is surprisingly experimental for the time and I can definitely imagine this being the start of a genre. Still not my favorite album ever, but definitely enjoyable and some sold tracks here

I tend to really like progressive rock albums a lot, however this one seems to be an exception. A lot of this album is 'just alright' and not as experimental or progressive as a lot of the classic albums of this genre are. especially the longer songs really suffer here and are a slog to get through. Still not bad at all, just not as great as it could've been

Definitely understand that this was incredibly influential and inspiring for a lot of punk bands afterwards, and it definitely has quite a lot of qualities. A lot of the riffs are Solid, the drums good and the general energy very effective. That being said its also just really not the type of Music I currently love. Might enjoy it more later, but 3/5 for now

Most songs on here have something to really love, an enjoyable bass line, good drumming or a funky moment with the sax. That being said, most songs also have something I actively dislike, a weird chorus or strange word choices. In the end an oddly enjoyable but middling experience, I really feel like this could have been amazing but falls just short time and time again.

Hiphop albums are underrepresented and overhated on this app. A lot of classics get tons of bad reviews from rock/pop fans. Unfortunately this is one of the albums that really didn't pass the test of time. An album I'd recommend for hip-hop heads who want to know about its origins, but never as someone's first. Some alright songs, and solid for the time, but really dated. You can hear where later acts will do better

I really love the opening tracks on this album, but afterwards it really drags for me. Even though the album is short, it still felt like it kept going

It's an interesting double album for Pop standards, though i personally preferred the first half over the second. The first half has great production and incredible vocal performances. Her vocal abilities however, tend to be both a blessing and a curse, a lot of songs would be a lot stronger if she held back a little bit and let the song speak for itself. The second half is a lot less my taste, and becomes less enjoyable for it.

Surprisingly great reggae album, a lot of solid ideas and great guitar work on multiple songs. Great stuff

Excellent album, topics are still relevant and the little skits in-between songs encapsulate the general responses to his music. It's quite ironic that a lot of the reviews on here mention things like the swearing/violence making then dislike it

I don't really love the stones much and never listened to one of their albums. Surprisingly nice sound and decent songs. Surprised at how American the sound is of this album, though I don't mind that at all.

Very enjoyable progressive rock album, though yes van certainly do better with later albums.

If this was an instrumental album I could have maybe given it a 4, but I really can't take the vocals seriously. I had a fun time but every time the singer opened his mouth I couldn't help but laugh

An album that feels quite outdated by today's standards. It's possible this is a Beatles/beach boys situation where their sound is copied so much that it doesn't sound as special anymore, even though at the time it created the opportunity for sounds like this to exist

Close to perfect album

Most songs have moments of greatness which are quickly ruined by the next transition or next lyrics.

A decent listen with some fun samples. It's an album that most people wouldn't mind hearing, but not one people will love

Has a Couple of great moments but also a lot of aged ones. Nooit my favorite Beach boys album and they're not my favourite band either. This album is one whose story is more interesting than the album itself. Also an incredibly fitting album for the day Brian died. Musically i might give this album a 3/5, but for the story and the respect for the artist is a 4

A lot of improvements compared to the debut album and a lot more enjoyable. Still feels like a bit of a relic of its time.

Every song has things or choices to enjoy/like and there is a lot of variety on here. That being said, almost every song also has a completely baffling choice in it that makes the song significantly worse. Still an overall decent experience

Live albums are difficult to rate when going through an experience like this. Normally when you discover an artist, then you only listen to the live albums when you already love the albums before it. The familiarity with the music makes the live performance amazing as you can tell the quality of the musicianship more at times. However through this challenge a live album gets thrown at you without any context of the previous albums. Meaning that is you listened to and loved the previous deep purple albums, you'll love this. However if you didn't, you probably won't get what this is about For my experience it was mostly new music with some familiar tunes which were excellently performed. In general the album is very solid and the recording is quite decent for a live performance. If i was more familiar with the band's discography I would have probably loved this, but since I'm not it was mostly just good with some real lows (did we really need minutes of drum solo on the mule)

Surprisingly did not like this much at all. I normale quite enjoy anything Jack White, but the marimba and weird choices in songs caught me off guard constantly in a negative way. You can still appreciate the talent, but it's not for me

Honestly very overrated on this app. It's a decently enjoyable punk album where they get noisy on quite some early songs. Punk isn't really a genre i generally enjoy so i didn't love it, but that doesn't decrease any quality of it

I enjoyed it quite a decent amount however its really not the music I prefer from them. Audioslave does a lot of these themes a lot better in my opinion. The strongest tracks for me are the slower ones like black hole sun

Pretty fun blues rock live album. You can tell a lot of the people in the band are having a great time. In general this is quite successful except for the guitar player that takes up too much space regularly.

I didn't hate the songs as much as i expected. There were some solid ones in the, even though i generally don't like U2. I was going to give it 3/5, but the 2008 mix/remaster is genuinely horrible. The drums are muddy and barely audible. I might've liked it a lot more on CD

Not bad, but also feels dated for the time period. Supposedly her first self written album, which makes me wonder why she was popular until now

Perfectly passable music that gets little emotion or feeling from me

It's a perfect album to me. It does exactly what it wants to achieve, with no choices that don't fit it's goal. You might not like it, or feel it's too challenging, but you can't deny how it manages to make you feel, or the way it portraits mental illness. Past that, this is a seriously groundbreaking album, the intensity and mix between rock/industrial sounds/ambient music/techno is really interesting. An album people should experience, though many will say it's not for them

A theater kid who is a big Radiohead fan. Not something for me honestly, it often feels very very derivative and when it doesn't it sounds insane

Not the worst thing I've ever heard, but man was i happy the album was finished

There's some occasional talent to buy found by the musicians on here, especially Eric Clapton. The vocals are quite weak and the drumming is mediocre (don't get me started on the drum solo) The songs in the beginning sound unique and fun, until you realize that that's how most of the songs sound

Quite some fun, la grange is obviously an amazing song.

Beautiful voices and sweet and vulnerable lyrics. Quite some highlights on here on the lyrical front. That being said, im not too familiar with the two artists outside of dolly Parton, and I wasn't able to properly recognize who was singing.

Couple of great songs in here with tiny dancer and rotten peaches, but everything else mostly melds together into one for me.

Very unique album, feels like a theater kid's dream. If listened to in parts it's very distinct and enjoyable, especially act 1 and mr Blue Sky stood out to me. But it you listen to it in 1 full go, the songs start to blend together into eachother and the album starts feeling very long

Good songwriter and interesting lyrics, really pulls you in. Just really not what I want from music and not for me. I can imagine that if you're really into quality songwriting over sparse instrumentals that you'll love this.

I really didn't enjoy this much at all. The instrumentals were mostly fine and relatively enjoyable, but the vocals were really not too my taste. I struggled to finish it, though that's also due to me not loving this type of music

Perfect opener with some mind-blowing transitions between songs. There are some duds on the tracklist, who really stand out because the rest is so good. Still an essential listen to anyone who likes electronic music/house that's a little dark and gritty

You can really tell this is early work from a band that hasn't really found it's groove. I feel like they're trying too many things at the same time, but not all of them are really working for me.

Definitely very solid, with some nice vocals and soft instrumentals. Still it doesn't leave much of a mark on me personally, though I can appreciate quite some of it.

It feels, like many rock albums in the 60s, cursed by the fact that the Beatles were as huge as they were. A lot of songs on here would stand out, if it wasn't for the fact that I feel the Beatles are just better at everything they do. It makes it harder to appreciate the album for what it is. To me it seemed like a reasonable album, some good songs but nothing outstanding

Very solid debut. No real bad song on here, Although i will say that they get a lot better later on.

The Beatles influence is extremely audible but the talent is often lacking a little bit. They get some of the melodies, but miss the songwriting chops. Overall still not bad at all, just a bit derivative.

Certainly avantgarde, a lot of really bizarre choices that just don't work on first listen at all, but when it goes on for a little longer i appreciate it a bit. Still not my favorite, but a fun album to listen to once, definitely deserving of this list

Very solid production choices, especially this early in his career. He seems to already have a very solid understanding of his tone and relaxed flow, a distinct Style which will grow iconic a lot later in his career. Lyrics leave quite a bit to be desired. This is absolutely a sound over substance record, and the sound is great, but i dont necessarily see myself returning to this record regularly, even though its great

Groovy, aged very well with a great band and excellent voice

Honestly extremely lovely. Incredible voice for the time and a fun and varied album. There are barely any, if any at all, bad songs on this album and multiple greats. The clicking song is great fun, but also slower softer songs go great. Not at all what I expected, but I loved it

Not the most unique sound, although that might be because this became very popular later. Some great stuff at the beginning, but especially their slow songs or percussion heavy songs leave a lot to be desired. At the end of the album i love it a lot less than when i started it

Goes to play a live performance in a prison, nice and uplifting for the prisoners... Al song are about being stuck in prison or getting the death penalty. The prisoners seem to love it, it's a wonderful time to listen to it, then trying to make him laugh is another great touch.

Honestly thought this would be a lot worse. Extremely intense drumming for short songs with often unintelligible lyrics drowned out by the drumming. It's intense, abrasive and surprisingly punk. Not necessarily what I would listen to myself, but I didn't hate it at all

It's not necessarily bad or anything, but to me it just really bored me very quickly. I think it's a combination of how old it sounds and how limited the instrumentation is most of the time. Just really not for me

Generally great music with a singer who sings just a little bit too over the top many times.

Damaged Goods is an incredible song and the influence of this band is really clear. Its just something i dont see myself coming back to as a full album experience.

There's just not really any misses on here at all. Everything flows together well and it forms a very complete package. Nothing to really dislike

It's Abba trying to be more artful and less poppy, but to me it mostly ends up being quite drab and boring

It's still quite good, what else would it be, but I feel a lack of cohesion in this album and a slight lack of quality control. The sex noises definitely weren't required for me. But with a single like 1999 you really can't go wrong.

Ccr stays excellent in their later work. Though its missing soms hits for me it's still very good

Paint it Black is really great, however every other song afterwards fell flat for me. There were a lot of questionable lyrics and odd choices. I can imagine it was really good at the time, but nowadays there's just so much better out there

Honestly just didn't really draw me in in any way.

It's a solid groovy time with decent tunes, but it feels very derivative of other bands and sounds. A more southern/stones inspired 'the strokes' is what it sounds like to me. Not bad at all but it wears it's influences a little too close to its sleeve for me

Great raps, Classic feeling production with unique Japanese movie samples. At times is missing some punch for my taste but overall extremely solid record

Honestly felt very classic in sound. A lot of timeless songs that still sound good today. I knew about eruption and knew that it was very famous, but honestly didn't like it that much on this album. I'm sure that if you're a musician/guitar player that it's very impressive and cool, but as a more casual listener it's a bit too much

If I heard any of the songs in isolation I'd probably think that they were quite decent, but as a whole package it doesn't do much for me. Songs blend together a little bit and generally don't ever Wow me

Some really nice slow instrumental buildups here. They create nice soundscapes and build on them very well. That being said, the lyrics and vocals often ruin what i like about the production and instrumentals

It's quite interesting that they're making music whose lyrics fit an earlier time in US history, made me think when it was made. But in regards to content it didn't really amaze me much, especially after hearing similar albums for the last couple of days

Quite enjoying the British folk music compared to the American folk albums we've had so far. However it didn't make me feel like returning to it later.

Layla was great, the rest was a lot less good. The singer was also missing some vocal ability to really make the songs on here work

A nice change of pace, but not something that drew me in much. I dont think i would seek this album of over other similar pop albums of the time

Very fun and enjoyable first half, and then you get to a gospel where a white guy in the late 80s starts rapping poorly. From this point onwards the album tries a lot of different things, but to me never really reaches the highs of the first half

Enjoyed this a lot more than I originally expected. It didn't necessarily grab me a lot, but in general it's a very pleasant listen.

Absolute rap classic. Great ear for production and incredibly lyrical ability for his age and the time. There are not many better rap albums out there. Saw some reviews mention how the album is too violent for them, which is bizarre to me as there's relatively little violence in here. The lyrics portray an image of a gritty and dark New York, and doesn't glorify it in any way. It feels closer to either a description of the world around him, as a cautionary tale, or as a political album, inspired by Malcolm x and MLK. This album is not more violent than any political punk or metal album. (Which the same reviewers often rate highly)

Wonderful kanye production with some thoughtful lyrics. Songs like be and faithful really speak to his mind, culture and things he's seeing i around him. I've always really appreciated it. That being said, at times the production feels a little dated which makes it a little less repayable

Quite some fun instrumental climaxes on multiple of the tracks here, but many others keep a very slow and nothing vibe. Not a big fan of the singer in general, and when the instrumental is sparse it really feels like nothing much is happening. Has some good moments, but as an overall product it feels lacking. 2,5/5

Probably my favourite stones album so far. Everything here sounds really solid and cohesive.

Seems very influential to be, but also something that has been so far surpassed, that it aged somewhat poorly. Still a decent listen, but most likely not as impactful as it would've been when it came out

It's difficult to describe this album properly. It's quite beautiful at times, but at the same time there's quite some choices i do not understand at all. I think i would understand a lot more with multiple future listens, but for now I'm not too sure what to give it. 4 stars seems fitting, not because of how much i necessarily enjoyed it, but because of how much I want to listen to it more

This is not my favorite Kanye album, its also not perfect (breathe in breathe out is not as great as many others and the skits get tiring on multiple listens), but it's still an amazing time. Incredible production, innovative bars and tracks. This album paved the way for so many new rappers that wanted to tell different stories. Honestly most kanye albums should be on this list due to influence alone, but im Happy that at least this one made it

Although i had heard of this album and have heard the big singles plenty of times, I was surprised how pure of a hiphop experience a lot of it is. There is a solid mix of different styles, with generally very Minimal production. Though I dont love all of it evenly, its stil a classic with the big hits. It would get a 4.5 from me, but since that isn't an option I'm rounding up.

This album feels extremely dated. All of the sounds here have been so influential in the years after and have since been refined further. Especially the first half is a tough listen if you compare it to anything from the late 2010s. That being said I can appreciate the influence enough to give it its flowers.

This album honestly surprised me a lot. I never heard anything about it so I had no expectations. This album is gritty and harsh with a lot of ambient loops, constantly giving you new ideas to listen to. I can completely understand anyone who doesn't like this album, as the consistent loops get really grating if you didn't like it the first time around. That being said, it's a beautiful journey if you can appreciate it.

The only thing worse than bad music is completely average non-descript music. At least with bad music you can enjoy how bad it is and have a laugh. With this album I was just bored the whole time.

This album flipflops between 'hey that's pretty decent'and 'who listens to this pretentious crap' constantly. It's honestly hard to rate as maybe I just don't really get it yet, but after many listens I'll learn to appreciate all the weird elements. But for now I thought it was decent.

If you love Bob, you'll love this. If you hate Bob, you'll hate this. I personally feel pretty neutral about Bob, it's my first album of his, and I feel pretty neutral about this album too. I generally liked disc2 better, but the whole experience was very neutral for me

This album was a solid part of the soundtrack of the world around the early 2010s. Definitely needs to be in this list for just how huge it was. In regards to my personal enjoyment, I thought it was fun to notice now how American and blues/folky she can sound on here. I had a good time, but it's probably something I'm not going to go back to any time soon

Shake it off and black space are fun, but this album really didn't necessarily age that well. A lot of themes return in modern pop songs which just do this more interestingly

Honestly a lot more fun than expected, i can easily see a lot of the riot grrl bands being inspired by this band here. The lyrics are often a bit hard to understand due to the way they sing/processed her vocals but it doesn't take away much of the quality of the album.

It's a difficult one to rate as nothing else matters, enter sandman and friend of misery are some of the best songs they've ever recorded. Unfortunately though quite some of the other songs really mesh together and don't stand out as much. I can see myself regularly returning to songs from this album, and I enjoyed my time with it, but I don't see myself wanting to listen to the whole album again.

In contrast with many albums on this list, this album is feels backloaded, with the second half being a lot more enjoyable to me than the first.

This might be my favorite U2 album yet, which isn't really saying much given that I don't really enjoy U2. Quite some solid hits though and even the deeper cuts are still very passable

I never really got Depeche mode, too boring and one note for me. This album really connected with me in a good way and I quite enjoyed it. The dark moody atmosphere with electronic additions to the classic 80s sounds were a lot of fun to listen to

A lot of energy with songs that generally have a good vibe. The production doesn't sound the greatest to me as instruments sound a bit muddy on plenty of songs creating a same-y vibe to a lot of songs that I suspect wouldn't be there live.

Very solid production and rapping over a lot of neo-soul and R&B tracks. Q-tip proves that he's very skilled outside tribe called quest as well. Although I prefer most tribe albums, this is still a very diverse and entertaining listen

Wonderful, dark, trippy and groovy. Some huge highlights on here that carry the album. This is an excellent start for triphop, though the genre certainly gets better after this album. 5 stars because of the influence and importance

Although filled with some of the best Beatles material, there's also a lot of filler in this album which detracts quite a lot. If this was a leaner album, I'm quite convinced it would be their best, but as is I'm not too interested to listen to it again. I'll just look for the hits I enjoy

Funkadelic keeps on being amazing, no dud in this tracklist with constant highs. The live version of maggot brain is amazing as expected. We want the funk!

Wow! The hits on this album are absolutely amazing, Mark Ronson really had an ear for really good production. I think we can certainly consider this album a modern classic

It really feels like the band is constantly in a contest of who the best artist is which hurts the songs that are otherwise perfectly solid

Some really nice stuff on here, with an amazing voice as expected. There are also some really weird transitions and some songs where it's clear that she hadn't really found her own sound yet. Past that it's perfectly enjoyable

I've been debating on the rating for this one for a while but really shout and everybody wants to rule the world are just amazing songs that should be listened to. The rest of the albums didn't reach the same peaks for me, but was still perfectly enjoyable and good

Difficult time rating this one as a lot of it feels like it's trying to be a bit in the 2000s and feels quite aged because of it. Still enjoyable though with quite some decent songs

There were some solid highlights on here, but I felt like it paled in comparison to their bigger albums. A lot of moody backgroundy/ambient sounding songs which just don't hit me as hard as their other work did

So dated that the lyrics are almost worse than the idiocracy that incels throw around in their circles. Tried to like some harmonies and songs, but the lyrics made me want to turn off every song the first chance I got

Had a terrific time with this album, feels quite modern still with its pop-punk blend of styles. Never heard of garbage before but almost every song here really hit for me. Nothing absolutely blew me away but almost every song is just very good

Though the hits are filled with nostalgia and mostly still sound great (even with the mediocre mixing and mastering), the rest of the album falls quite flat. That being said there are a lot of hits on here as well that I'll want to go back to, though it won't be another full album listen

Weaker beginning for me with a great midway point, very much sticking the landing as well. Reggae doesn't really get better for me

Seems very influential for psychedelic funk afterwards without losing its own value. Decent songs that unfortunately feel surpassed by everything the genre has to offer after it.

Though certainly filled with quality vocals and solid instrumentation, it never really managed to leave much of an impression to me outside of 'its pretty good'

Where other rappers of this time focus on cautionary tales of the gangsta/poor black experience, eminem focuses on the dark side of poor white Americans. The drugs, sex and gruesome acts that are discussed and done in trailer parks. With this he sounds completely different from other rappers in the same time period, also because he takes everything way further. This creates a unique listening experience which really isn't for everyone and shocks on first listen. He's constantly gruesome, oversexualizing everyone and being just generally a bit too edgy. With this you can respect his rapping ability and beat choices. The fact that he doesn't rap too fast really helps with this too, as it allows you to actually understand what he's saying. That being said, this album aged a little poorly in my opinion, and just sounds a little to cringy at times, making it hard to rate it a 5/5

Though Sinatra's voice is still pleasant as always, the instrumentals this time didn't vary as much and didn't particularly age well, nor did they vary enough for me personally.

This album is quite amazing even without context, with some of J Dilla's first production on here, while simultaneously working with the roots and d'angelo in the same studio on their albums. All albums coming out of this era are amazing in their own right, but Mama's gun shines as a post-breakup album. Following the public breakup with Outkast's Andre 3000, she aims to show the world (and herself) that she's over him and living life to the fullest, while not compromising on her social and political commentary. This album blends the two sides together wonderfully, moving from political songs like the opener to love focused jams like 'didnt cha know' and slow ballads like orange moon and in love with you. The closer 'green eyes' really takes the cake for me personally, displaying her whole emotional journey surrounding her breakup, going from being 'fine' to jealousy, depression, pleading "just make love to me" into slowly accepting that the relationship is done. The emotion in her voice is incredibly, really taking you on a journey with the instrumental guiding you along beautifully. A must-listen to anyone into (neo)-soul

On first listen I really didn't like any of the first half of this album, something about the instrumentals just really bothered me. Then the second half was a lot nicer to the ear so I tried the first half again and noticed it was quite decent, it definitely is growing on me

Fun Irish songs, though there's some stuff in here that's pretty hard to listen to

I would just much rather listen to a Beatles record

It's like they tied to combine the stones beatles and the who and failed at doing any of it good

I love this, the ambient accents in this drum and bass album really generate a vibe that makes me want to experience a club night like it
