Reviews (page 2 of 13)

This is an absolute gem of an album. Willie having Booker T work with him made this album so much richer in style.

Willie's voice on this record is the best it ever sounded. And a good reminder that Willie can really play the guitar.

Brilliant 5 stars

Bangs.

Georgia on my Mind banger. Jai laissé tourner cet album plusieurs fois tellement il était agréable à écouter

A collection of calm and inspiring renditions of classic pop standards that helped me type out my dream journal onto my website I'm working on. A pure vibe.

Je donne 5 pour ne pas offusquer mon frère. Il doit avoir genre 50 vinyles de Willie Nelson. Je préfère d'autres albums de Willie que Stardust.

Perfect blend of happy and sad songs. Somehow Willie can stop time for the listener and have them take notice.

very good for work

I enjoyed it and it was fun to hear Willie do Sinatra type standards. Willie has an amazing array of talents and he deserves a 5 for this album and the extraordinary work he has produced in a career that tops 70 years.

sin pensarlo

Man what a musician Havent listened to a whole lot of Willie Nelson, but was more familiar with the outlaw sound he’s most synonymous with; I was pretty surprised by the vibe and content of this one. It’s very emotional and punctuated by some truly amazing vocals. I saw that all of these songs were covers, and think he does a pretty damn good job at arranging them. Georgia on my Mind is a classic and he absolutely does it justice. I don’t think there’s really any misses on this one, though if I had to come up with one critique it would be the lack of variety. It’s a pretty short album, so I’m willing to overlook that for the most part. Haven’t listened to a whole lot of country albums front to back, but this has to be pretty close to the top. Probably on the lower end of 5s, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one

im copying spencer on this one

I weirdly love the sad cowboy music. All of Me is such a great song. I started this album a day thing thinking that I hated country music, and then I actually like listening to the country albums that come up and this album is fantastic to listen to.

Definitely never heard these old standards played by Willie. What’s not to love?

Beautiful covers album - I often dont know how to feel about these sort of compilations, but Willie always brings something new to each song he interprets. He reimagines them, makes them his own. Makes them feel like something completely new. Never thought September Song would make me feel so nostalgic and life-contemplating. Passes right through you, makes your heart ache and yearn. Magic. Moonlight in Vermont is what I believe summer nights in Vermont must feel like. Connects directly to the album cover... everything makes sense. Art from a different lifeline, a different point in time.

The perfect album to soothe a fussy baby like me.

flawless

One of my favorite albums of all time.

Very soothing - feels like a lazy day sitting out on the porch watching the world go by. Great collection of songs. Found myself really slowing down with this album playing and just being for a bit. Takes a good album to do that!

10 out of 5.

Tres bien. Semble etre que des reprises

Esse disco é um espetáculo auditivo!

It’s a great album you’re looking for some old-fashioned standards to enjoy

What an introduction to Willie Nelson's vast catalogue. Of course, this isn't standard Willie, consisting of seemingly heartfelt renditions of American standards in pop and jazz from the first half of the 20th century, but that doesn't stop it from being incredibly moving. You can feel that Willie's just doing what he wants to here. The songs are almost entirely familiar to me, but I wasn't thinking at any time that I'd rather be listening to the originals, which is about the highest praise I could give a cover album. His voice may be divisive, but I'd through on this album and just chill out any given night. Highlights: Stardust Georgia On My Mind Blue Skies All of Me September Song

So excited to listen to this one! Willie Nelson is one of the greatest. Also, I love this album cover, probably my favorite so far. Perfect title track! His voice is just so perfect. The arrangement of Blue Skies feels so modern, but I absolutely love it for this album. All of Me is such an adorable song! Another winner for sure. I'm loving the overall tone of the album. The title being Stardust and then singing songs about love and the sky is so perfect. September song - "these precious days I'll spend with you" Final Thoughts: This album is perfect! Not too long and not too short. A great mix of songs, all beautiful, easy to listen to, and full of beautiful lyrics and melodies. Willie Nelson's voice is one of the best ever. A delight!

what a lovely album. a few of these songs are so pretty and wonderful, some of them faded into the background a little. I'm gonna have to give it a 5, but I think it might be more of a 4.5. it definitely could grow on me because I'm gonna listen again, I'm sure.

This album brought forth a vision of a little dive bar in the middle of nowhere and it seemed like it had the most immaculate vibes of any establishment ever. Willie, along with John Prine, has been a staple of our family vacations for all of my 29 years of life, so there’s no way I wasn’t going to love this.

After a long run of underwhelming albums, I was starting to lose some faith in this site delivering good albums with any consistency. Hearing Stardust for the first time restored that faith, however. I’m an absolute sucker for anything Tin Pan Alley–related: American classics by legends like George Gershwin and Irving Berlin, and Stardust is a wonderful love letter to that tradition. Nelson covers these songs with clear affection, singing beautifully over modern arrangements of electric organ, harmonica, and, of course, acoustic guitar. At just 37 minutes, the album is short, sweet, and one I’ll certainly return to.

Such a sweet soul Willie Nelson finally made me like country. The songs are all very sweet and sung with perfection. Some make you sit in silence, thinking about nothing, while some make you happy and joyfull. The variation works great.

I listened to this while driving a camper van through the Kaimai Range, New Zealand. Boy was that an experience. This is a masterpiece.

#256/1001. The second Willie Nelson album in 4 days, and that can only mean one thing... but no, he is not dead. When this started to play I was so sure this would be some 2000s let's go back in time and do some classics, you know everyone from Paul Anka to Johnny Cash to Vesa-Matti Loiri doing "old crooner crooning pop songs" type of thing, exact same thing except Willie Nelson doing pop standards. But what the fuck, 1978? The previous album from 1975 was basically the man and a guitar as-country-as-you-can-get album which blew the bank and made him a star (after 18 albums it was about time). This is so un-country at times that I think the 1001 project curators included this one to piss every country fan out there - or perhaps not since Georgia on my Mind won a Grammy... And I can not but smile about the fact that In 1979, "September Song" peaked at number 15 in Billboard's Hot Country Singles. I can hear Kurt Weill rolling in his grave... But this is something I really love: songs which would fit Sinatra (and most likely which he also sung) interpreted by Willie Nelson. Here his voice doesn't begin to annoy. Fuck, a 5.

These standards are classic, well-crafted songs. Willie's unadorned voice brings a fresh sincerity to music that can often be a little overwrought.

Amazing!!! Had no idea they were all covers but Willie definitely made them all his own with the help of Booker T. Jones. Has just the right amount of restraint and color where it needs it.

Loved this one. Was not expecting to like it! Never listened to Willie Nelson before. Felt soothing to the brain. Great Sunday morning album

Courtney: really nice covers. Good work music Craig: lovely!

Willie doing country jazz versions of standards with his lilting vibrato and trigger whining out some lovely gypsy jazz?!? I mean come on, so good, what a brilliant move from Willie

Pretty great cover album from Willie Nelson

um i loved this? did not expect this sound from willie nelson

Lots of low key bangers on this one. Light up a doobie and chill to this

So pleasant

One song in and I can tell this is going ti be a five star. I suspected as much because I love Willie but oh my god. Five stars, a thousand stars this is going to be my new go to album

Beautiful.

Sweet sweet tunes <3

Finally, an album I was already familiar with! I went through a brief phase last year where I mainlined “Stardust”, so it was nice to listen to the album in its entirety. Unsure if this is common knowledge but I was a diehard Michael Bublé fan as a teen (and still have quite a fondness for him to this day!) so that was my baseline for a lot of these songs. I think this is such a beautiful album, excellently curated. Willie Nelson just so perfectly encapsulates the yearning and longing that often comes with being in love (requited or otherwise). “Georgia on my mind” is a forever fave and he knocks it out of the park. This album well and truly had me in my feels and that’s how you know it’s a goodie.

Initially apprehensive but I totally get the hype now. I am now a Willie Nelson fan Georgia on my mind, blue skies, September song, don’t get around much anymore are all phenomenal The best album I’ve heard so far. Love his playfulness, story telling ability and the depth/vibrato of his voice.

i aint never heard willie nelson before, tho i have heard of the man willie nelson before, and i wish I had heard this wonderful music sooner. probably 4.5/5 if im being honest to myself, tho i find it hard to give it the bump to 5 i must.

Honestly the first song made me stop everything and just listen. I haven’t been pulled into music like that in a long time!

Another album I have not listened to in a long time. Boy, have I missed out. Nothing sounds smoother, sweeter, or more real.

so beautiful what an honest man he lived a good life what great country blues, i really hate melancholic albums but you know what he gets a pass

10/10 all of me 12/24/25

Produced by Booker T, Willie Nelson’s American songbook covers stand with the greats.

I normally don’t listen to country artists at all but I actually really liked his voice. Very nice covers!

Love this album! My parents had this on heavy rotation when I was a teenager. One of my favorites and not a bad song in the lot.

A fantastic album blending delicate jazz and country in an immensely enjoyable way. Excellent blend of slow songs and enough soft energy to make this album very well rounded. Great performances as well

Favs: Stardust, Georgia On My Mind, All of Me, Moonlight in Vermont

My all time favorite Willie Album. I love the jazz elements in his music. I think this is his best song writing.

Outstanding. Top 10 country album of all time for sure - and it's not even country.

Great covers album

This is the second of Willie's albums that I've listened to fully, and it goes even fuller to cement my opinion that he is completely original and incredible. This album is fairly mellow (same as the last one I listened to) but less lamenting than Shotgun Willie. It's poetic and beautiful, the right amount of gruff and sense and beauty. I will definitely be coming back to this as soon as I can.

I sit here writing this, trying to gauge whether it's a strong 4 stars or worthy of the full 5/5. I'm going for the full five stars. Such an easy, relaxing, calm album. Classic covers from the Great American Songbook performed perfectly. Fits a rainy day or a snowy night. Fits a Sunday morning drive or a 5pm commute. Truly a great album. Nelson's almost conversational singing brings ease and familiarity. Doesn't try to outshine or impress, but settles into the song with warmth. The instrumentation, everything from the guitar to the orchestra, is really tasteful. A great country album, and rightly regarded as one of the best.

I love this album. I was familiar with most of his covers on it already but had just never listened to this album in its entirety. This turned into such a cohesive , simple, beautifully arranged work of pared down standards that it's just great music. Different vein, but similar to one of my other favorites, the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. Very strong 5.

Great album. Mellow and laid back, but full of bangers and interesting songs.

Willie makes another left turn and makes an album of American Songbook Standards. Moving from a brilliant songwriter and performer to an impeccable and unique interpreter of song. Also, Trigger sounds amazing.

Awesome

Willie is one of the greats, in my opinion. Great singer songwriter. Melodies are lovely. Perfect for the time.

Willie is a national treasure. This album showcases him as the vocal talent he is, not just an outlaw country artist. Blue Skies and Georgia are particularly excellent. Re-listened on the last leg of a lengthy drive on a rainy night. Perfect.

Willie Nelson, other than George Jones, has the most expressive voice in all of country music and one of the most expressive in any genre. With what would seem like little effort at all, his voice oozes soul. All of these classic songs get the Willie Nelson treatment and they become the better for it.

I love this project for bringing me albums like this -- unlikely gems that I had no idea existed. Willie Nelson singing old Broadway and jazz standards? It works, and in fact, it's magical. Every one of these is a tall cool drink on a warm breezy day, gentle and soothing. If the old standard songs aren't your thing, this album probably won't convert you. But it's unique, and gorgeous.

Epic album

EDIT: not at any point did I realize this is a cover album. brother I don't know any of these songs *Stardust: so I've never actually heard Willie Nelson and about thirty seconds in I have to admit that I was not familiar with his game. dude has a beautiful voice. this song is stunning *Georgia On My Mind: the actual sound of this album is insane, it's so warm and so lush even though the arrangements are relatively sparse. it feels like he's not even trying, just effortless *Blue Skies: can't believe this album is nearly fifty years old, it holds up amazingly well. if some indie country artist dropped this record today I wouldn't blink twice. cute song *All Of Me: love this one, charming lyrics and I dig the chord progression Unchained Melody: it's fine but it doesn't hook me immediately. sounds great though *September Song: those drums are cuntttt, so delicate but they hit crazy. the mix in general is insane, I love the tone of the piano a lot. the instrumentation feels fuller here even though it's a slower song On the Sunny Side of the Street: bass is thick. the rhythm switch-up in the chorus is sweet *Moonlight in Vermont: good song, but has the tough luck of being the third track on the album that sounds exactly like this Don't Get Around Much Anymore: it's fine *Someone To Watch Over Me: really like this one. not much to comment on that hasn't been said already, but his voice sounds especially nice here this album is like what Lou Reed thought he was doing on Transformer. it's effortless but still soulful, it has solid songwriting throughout, and it sounds absolutely incredible (probably the best *sounding* record so far). my only real criticism is that it's relatively one-note, but...it's a great note, so fair enough. I kept hoping to be surprised in some way and even though that never really happened, that's not the end of the world for an album that's this consistent straight through. __ SCORE: 8.5/10 ADDED TO PLAYLIST: Stardust, Georgia On My Mind, Blue Skies, All Of Me, September Song, Moonlight in Vermont, Someone To Watch Over Me

Lovely voice - so soothing

Willie Nelson - Stardust (1978) A soft and profound voice that makes me drift into a relaxing mood. The sound of the harmonica feels very familiar to my ears. I get a nostalgic feeling every time I hear country music. Maybe I was a cowboy in another life. This is easy listening, so I enjoy it every time I choose to dive into a country mood. Willie Nelson is undoubtedly a master of the genre. My picks: "Georgia on My Mind," track number 2, although not an original song by Willie, is a beautiful version with a very soulful and heartfelt interpretation. It is not as famous as Ray Charles's rendition from the 1960s, but it stands out in its own way. Track number 8, "Moonlight in Vermont," is a classic song from the 1940s, and Willie Nelson’s rendition brought the classic to new audiences within the country genre. The harmonica is so cool.

Willie Nelson's voice is one of my favorites, I hang on each of his words, especially the ending of Blue Skies... so good. His guitar playing is kinda like David Gilmour in that less is more and that it's just as much about the space between the notes as it is what he's playing. I think each of these covers are made distinctly his and I would recommend this to any friends who may still feel that an album of cover songs shouldn't be a 5/5. Strong 5/5

Don’t realise how much I actually like Willie until every time I hear him. His bare presentation with these songs in my mind shouldn’t work but it’s shear brilliance, it’s deceptively basic but it’s hardcore. 5 Star

Classics by a classic !

beautiful songs, love it

Classic easy listening

Delightful and relaxing album.

This is such a lovely and sweet album! It’s a collection of covers I was vaguely familiar with, but all of them are so gentle and soft. It kind of reminded me of a grandparent in a way? Like a nice little old man who sat you down in his house and is showing you pictures of him and his wife traveling in their youth. I’m going to have to revisit this one again here soon.

A covers collection that Willie makes his own.

so perfect so charming so quaint

Caught me at a perfect time - work stress is nothing against Willie

Tykkäsin tästä! Sopi erinomaisesti aamuun - ihanan rauhallinen tunnelma.

I hate that I've never listened to this album. The lyrics are poignant, his voice is beautiful, the backing instruments are soulful or jazzy or smooth depending on the song. Love, love, love.

This one was a winner. Front to back heartfelt country takes on jazz standards from ol willie. Tess mentioned how his voice makes anything feel nostalgic, and I will echo that sentiment. Will be relistening and buying the vinyl if I see it around.

an album of jazz standards from a country artist?? no idea this could exist. It was a lovely collection. I enjoyed the addition of harmonic throughout the album. The whole thing is very nostalgic to me.

The most perfect country and western album

тепло, уютно, спокойно, красиво. идеально подошло осенним пасмурным пейзажам за окном электрички

Willie ran into Booker T. Jones on the beach in Malibu one day and the rest is, literally, history. The link between Tin Pan Alley and the rest of American music has rarely come through this clear - I hate to be the guy who tells you to focus on the notes that *aren't* there but, you know, *do that*. And I love the Eagles as much as the next guy but this album represents the real Road Not Taken for El Lay country - respectful, serene, centered, edibles rather than powder. "Blue Skies" sounds like a prayer. They all do, actually.

I said I would give this five stars and I'm sticking to it. BUT...this is kind of awful. In a great way? I imagine that while he was high with his buddies, someone suggested kind of jokingly that he should go into the studio and record his take on a bunch of sometimes-forgettable standards, and he was like..."why not?" And so this totally harmless album was recorded and yes, it's totally fine. And terrible. And great. I don't know why this needs to exist. Anyway, it was just what I needed at just the right time. Willie is a good guy.

Best album so far!!!!

So pretty.

Reminds me of my childhood

This was amazing! I love how Willie sounds like he’s having so much fun. I’ll be listening to this one again

Great!

Absolutely beautiful-best cover album ever.

Amazing record. Let's get an outlaw country Texan weed smoking lifer to cover classic urbane and cosmopolitan American songbook standards. The arrangements are gorgeous, Willie is a brilliant interpreter of these songs, and it's beautiful. Reminds me in a way of Ray Charles' R&B soul covers of country songs. These kinds of crossovers make me miss America, or at least, the one that these great records exemplify.

Liked it.

Oh, so Willie Nelson is the good parts of country distilled down to it's barest essence. More of this please.

Already know and love this album. Have it on LP. So fabulous.

I was caught of guard by how beautiful this was. It is cozy and sweet. Each song choice is great and this versions all feel unique and comfortable at the same time

Fire on ice

I have heard songs off the album especially Georgia on my mind, but I have never listened start to back. I didn’t realize these were all covers. Super cool. Great covers.

Great album! His voice supports these standards as well as anybody ever.

Willie's voice works perfectly with this set of old standards. Such a mellow album, with a short runtime, a consistent vibe, and a cover which captures that vibe exactly. 4.5/5.0: Excellent

Really amazing album, I always forget how many good tracks Willie Nelson Nelson has. A beautiful voice, I forget that he sings a lot of the classic standards, every song is fantastic. Five out of five.

Lovely and relaxing even if you dont like folk/country I believe you can enjoy this one. Awesome covers, no skips. loved it

Yes, absolutely. Play this shit at my funeral.

Day581 - how much courage did it take to make an album of standards at the peak of your career? willie is an icon and these songs will be with us forever

a nice album with Willie's interpretations of classic songs

4.5 rounded up :-) highlights: stardust, all of me, moonlight in vermont (mar 14 2026)

Tenía muchas ganas de escuchar un disco entero de Willie Nelson. Por Dios, qué clase y qué calidad.

I think Ill give it a five just because it has a feel to it. Very easy to listen to and really probably is only country for the fact Willie is singing. Also feels like album that belongs in a collection.

This was a superb cover album. It is not any easy thing to do a cover album this well but Willie killed it. Normally I’m kinda lukewarm about Willie but this was really, really well done. Would very much like to listen to this again on a cool fall day out on the front porch.

I should listen to Willie Nelson more. Perfect slow rainy Friday music while sitting in a hotel room getting ready for a wedding.

These classics are smoothly done by the red headed stranger.

As an austinite, I am legally obligated to give any Willie Nelson album 5 stars. Loved this one!

Beautiful Sound. Cold nights are starry and warm here

"I love this record... i know it intimately... as a teen boy i had a lot of trouble falling asleep... and late at night, there were two albums i could put on and not disturb my parents... "Days of Future Past" by The Moody Blues, which i'm SURE will be on this list... and this one... Willie was at his peak in my opinion... he had done "Red Headed Stranger" (which WILL also be on this list)... and "Waylon and Willie" (ditto)... the arrangements... the song choices... and the VOICE of Willie Nelson... "Stardust" by Hoagy Carmichael starts it off in a very hauntingly beautiful way... then comes the ONLY version of "Georgia On My Mind", not sung by Ray Charles, that i ever want to hear... Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" is next and is done to perfection... "All of Me" and all the rest of the tracks, sublime... every song a STANDARD... and every performance a tour de force... "Someone To Watch Over Me" closes this GEM... probably one of the best "cover" albums of all time... FIVE STARS forever..."

Familiar songs. Vocals and guitar. Easy listening

Almost entirely composed of solid bangers

Beautifully arranged and performed pop standards. Willie's delicate voice shines!

I gotta spend some more time with Willie. Both albums have been fantastic.

Been too long since I’ve listened to this one! Needs to be in regular rotation

This album was already one of my favorites of all time, I was stoked to get this one.

Its Willie Nelson at his best, no notes, nothing. Just sit back and take it in

One of the first albums I bought on vinyl. Just a great showcase for Willie’s voice. The definitive version of Moonlight in Vermont. I love this album!

Albums like this make me glad I'm going through this list because I honestly would have never listened to this myself. So many reasons for me to enjoy this: I love cover albums, I already like a lot of these songs, and I like these interpretations! Would totally listen to this again on a drive or a quiet evening.

I love this one. I bought it when it first came out. Over the years I've had it on cassette, disc, and have it downloaded. It just gets better with time.

One of Willie’s 3 best albums. Sure, it’s a covers album, but few people can consistently improve upon a cover song like Willie!

Loving the sound of this, it’s perfect of its kind. At various points I’ve listened to lots of the kind of songs he’s covering e.g. Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, Gershwin, so it’s all sort of familiar but also distinctive with Nelson’s vocals and guitar.

5* What am I, fucking stupid?

Classic songs done with Willie's signature style. Beautiful.

This was absolutely great easy listening great voice absolutely loved this

The best cover album IMO.

An album that proves (if proof was needed) that great music is great music and great artists are great artists. I can still remember just how crazy it seemed that Willie Nelson of all people, Mr. Country Outlaw, had done a record featuring romantic standards from decades past. But every song and performance here is amazing. You can not like the type of music; that's just a matter of personal preference. But what can't be denied is the quality and beauty of the performance.

Just saw him play a week ago. Hearing his voice and listening to these songs that he made classic is an amazing experience. There's so much that goes beyond just the song writing. There's this odd, longing melancholy that is woven into his songs that make them feel so personal.

Willie Nelson has a strong place in my music history and this is an amazing album, this man is a story teller, I have listened to this album four times today.

I love this album. It's filled with covers of standards, and although Willie has never had an impressive voice, he still manages to infuse each song with poignancy and emotion. His version of Unchained Melody may be my favorite.

Heerlijk om mee wakker te worden in de bus naar werk!

What a long day. I'm so tired. But this album? Totally worth staying up for. I fucking love it. Pretty much every single song. I first put Stardust on this morning while getting ready. Then on the drive to work. Then on speaker in the office kitchen while everyone was grabbing coffee, because it’s just that good. And a few more times after that. It carried me through the chaos with grace. The covers are legendary. Elvis? Ella Fitzgerald? Louis Armstrong? Gershwin? Hoagy Carmichael? Duke Ellington?? Ray Charles?! This tracklist reads like a syllabus for American musical greatness. And somehow, Willie makes each one his own without losing the soul of the original. There’s something about his voice on this record. It’s direct and evenly paced, never rushing. That bit of vibrato on the longer notes? Just enough to feel it. He’s never in a hurry to get to the next word, and that patience works. His delivery feels like ease. Like peace. Like sitting on a porch swing, letting the light shift while the sun hangs low. Making an album of mostly covers can be risky. But Stardust proves that if you have the artistry, the taste, and the sheer soul of Willie Nelson, it’s not just possible. It’s genius. These aren’t just renditions. They’re interpretations that stand alone. Everyone should love something about this album. It’s warm. It’s masterful. It’s palatable on so many levels, and absolutely brilliant on others. It’s a quietly perfect album, timeless in its simplicity and essential in its place among the great American recordings.

Love Willie. Saw him in concert multiple times. My only complaint is Willie has way too many songs and has like 100 albums or some such. But this one is a really good one. Georgia On My Mind and Blue Skies are phenomenal. And then add in Unchained Melody and it is just a really awesome album. That being said, I am not sure why THIS album is more deserving than some of his others. It is his 22nd album and hardly groundbreaking even though it had some bangers. I do think it is hard to pick just one album of his though since he has so damn many. But yea, it is good stuff.

Very nice album

I wasn't sure going in that an album of standards should be a must listen, but hearing them without the big band, Broadway singer style is a necessity. Each of these tracks is fantastic. Keeping this one in the back pocket for if I ever do need to lullaby a baby

You know, when I tell people that I'm not really a country fan, I have to specify that I'm talking about modern "bro-country" that plays on the radio for two main reasons. Reason 1 is that that's what most people nowadays (at least from my experience) are familiar with. I need people to know that I fucking hate Morgan Wallen. The second reason, and the relevant one for this review, is that classic country has some great stuff within it. I am of the belief that there is no such thing as a bad genre, and albums like this prove it. I love this album. Willie Nelson is one of the most legendary names in the country genre. You know what? He deserves it. This album's outstanding. The context behind it is pretty interesting. Willie was largely known as an outlaw country artist, with albums of his like Red Headed Stranger (which also appears on this list) being standouts of the genre. So, of course, he decides to make an album covering a bunch of pop standards of decades past. Why? Why not! It paid off, didn't it? I think it did. After all, the album has sold over 5 million copies. The album's also really good. Willie's singing is nice. Its undeniably country, but it also feels earnest and not like a Southern caricature. The instrumentation is just beautiful. It really is. It's fairly simple, but oh so effective. This is largely thanks to Booker T. Jones's excellent production, which works wonders with Willie's style. The songs themselves, as stated earlier, are pop standards from the likes of Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, and a number of others. Let me tell you, these are some excellent renditions of these tunes. I think I read a review of this album that said something about how the covering of these standards was a good decision because it simultaneously appealed to people who grew up with prior version of them and introduced these great songs to a new generation. That's the beauty of a good cover, isn't it? All of these songs are great. I especially love the first three songs on the album, though the 7 after "Blue Skies" are still excellent. Overall, this album is the kind of thing that just sits right with me in so many ways. It's an endlessly pleasing and utterly timeless listen that deserves recognition on a list like this. It also might just be the best country album I've listened to so far. As far as I can remember, I have yet to give a country album 5 stars. Welp, that changes today! Low 5/5.

Sweet and calm. Just the perfect songlist for relaxing. I could already imagine myself playing a u-bass with friends during a camping trip.

Big surprise-- really nice

Georgia on my mind is a big favourite. Really enjoyed hearing Willie Nelson sing all time classics. Shouldn't work but does.

Wonderful ballader!!!!

Stardust is a truly beautiful album. Willie Nelson's distinctive, some might say limited, voice is sympathetically surrounded by superb arrangements from Booker T Jones. These interpretations of standards are wonderful. Nelson sings in a leisurely, laconic fashion, is rarely on the beat, anticipating at times, catching up at others, and always sounds completely in his element like he was born to sing these songs. They are uniformly excellent but special mention to the final two numbers, "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" and "Someone to Watch Over Me" which are close to definitive, amazing given the great voices that have sung these songs over the years. I don't listen to this anything like as often as I should; it is a delight and makes me smile every time I hear it.

Willie’s songwriting and guitar lines are great. Interesting chord structures and soft, relaxing voice.

10/10 Another buttery smooth album by Willie, this time focusing on how his lover makes him feel. He discusses feelings of being blue while she's gone and happiness while she's there. Also, he only wants her to watch over him, despite how other people may want their SOs. All this over lowly guitars and drums

Really liked this. The songs are timeless and he sings them very well. There's something about his voice and the atmosphere of his recordings that's very soothing. A surprise 5.

Gil stuff from the past.

cowboy done right

This and stargazing in a field until you can barely stay awake This and dancing around the kitchen This and catching up with old friends at a cocktail bar This and reminding me that life can be beautiful

Really nice album

My favorite Willie album.

A collection of covers, but willie's fragile voice makes them his own, and Booker T's minimalist arrangements keep it grounded without sounding corny. A timeless album.

Wow! I expected a record full of "pop standards" to sound cheesier than this. I think a combination of Nelson's earnest singing and Jones's production and arrangements counteract this. It is 100% charming—definitely a record to pick up when you see it at the thrift (and you probably will, given its sales numbers).

I listened to this three times over the weekend. All hits.

It was the first time I listened to this as a full album. It’s beautiful.

I’m drunk in the afternoon on vacation in Hawaii and this album is hitting the spot. We don’t deserve Willie

Stardust is Willie Nelson's twenty-second studio album, and a departure from his previous work. This album is a collection of a covers of pop standards. Nelson won a Grammy for his cover of "Georgia on My Mind." His versions of "Blue Sky," and "All of Me" were remarkably well received, as was the rest of the album. Willie's warm, gentle voice, and simple guitar accompaniment made elegant versions of these classic songs.

Awesome!

10/10 Willie is so important to American music. I really enjoy that he took the opportunity to sing songs that meant something to him and give it his signature flair. Is he the best singer to ever sing these songs? Never. But the feeling he gives these songs give them a different feeling only he could provide. Furthermore, I think he benefits from picking some of the best songs ever written. This all star cast of songs features tracks from hoagy Carmichael, Louis Armstrong, not to mention the countless legends to cover these songs first. Along with this the production of Booker T. Jones can be felt throughout. Getting a booker T and the MGs take on a Willie album comprised of some of the best songs in the American songbook is really a perfect overlapping of my interests in a way that’s hard to explain. Favorite Song: All of Me

An amazing album. Very Peaceful.

Fav: September Song Least Fav: Don’t Get Around Much Anymore I cannot believe I’m giving a country album a 5/5 but here we are. This list is def making me rethink my biases against the genre for sure

Willie does the hits. Great album!

Willie Nelson is just great to begin with, and to hear him do intimate versions of some of the biggest songs, and put his own spin on them, was such a treat. Almost the entire album went into my cover's playlist. 5/5

Melancholy

This is the 66th album I’m rating. I don’t really know what this is but I know it is country. Adding to my Playlist - Stardust, Georgia on my Mind, Blue Skies, All of Me, Unchained Melody, September Song, On the Sunny Side of the Street, Moonlight in Vermont, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, and Someone to Watch Over Me. Not Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. All in all I liked 10/10 songs. This was a nice calm soothing album. Willie Nelson is pretty cool.

Willie doing other people's songs. Great stuff and one of my all time favorite albums.

Amazing. Willie is always ana amzing songster, but I never knew about this cover album of classics done with a Willie twist. Some of the best of country.

this album would bring a tear to a glass eye - beautifully sentimental, richly emotional, with wonderfully economic playing and singing. great arrangements, too - by Booker T. Jones ! (yes, from Booker T & The MGs!) Willie Nelson's timing is singular - late on every note, increasing the tension, with a beautiful flow and a glorious voice. this is one of a handful of the LPs in this adventure where I listened to it a second time immediately after the first listen

Great album, the layed back nature of each track was great after a long day, I have no problems at all with this album, I can’t say I’m familiar with the original song he chose to cover for this album but I imagine without a doubt he did them all the originals some justice. Favorite Tracks: Stardust, Blue Sky, Moonlight in Vermont, and On The Sunny Side of The Street

What a beautiful surprise, since I am not American, country music is not deeply rooted in me, but this album really is a masterpiece, well recorded and beautifully arranged.

Lovely

Pre-listening thoughts: hooray album 200! Sadly still on the stretch of no female artists but this should be a nice change of pace from the loud 90s rock we've been slammed with. I almost don't care if it's dogshit. It's something different, and we haven't gotten a ton of country so far. I also have never listened to any Willie Nelson songs. We shall see about this one! Post/during listening thoughts: this is just really solid cover work. 22nd studio album is already crazy but then I learned he has recorded a whopping 102 studio albums thus far. But anyways, he really took all these songs and added a very homely/cozy quality that you don't get much with big theater and jazz standards like these. It's like a warm blanket of an album. When you can get a sense for an artist's identity on an album of purely covers, that's how you know they've really carved a place for themselves. 9.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: lowkey yeah. Everyone should hear how standards can be reimagined like this Fav tracks: yeah I enjoyed all of this sue me. I love any cover of September Song I can get my grubby little fingers on so that was obviously my favorite but Least fav tracks: none

Oh so lovely, sweet Willie.

As soon as that easy organ/wurlitzer? keyboard hit on the opener "Stardust" I knew I was in for a soft, sweet treat. Willie has that Leonard Cohen ease to his delivery, it's so simplistic and surehanded. Like a nice warm hug. I got a lot out of "All of Me" for the square-dance-meets-lounge-music combination. Probably my highlight of the record. I was ready to turn my nose up at a pretty simple cover of "Unchained Melody" and there is fair reason for that - I dont think Willie's voice is cut out for those few high notes he reaches for. But man, all the same, the soft beating heart finds it's way to shine through in Willie's gentle delivery. An earnest cover. It's at this point in which all listener's have realized that they've been lulled a first half full of pleasant love songs. Another moment worth holding on for is when Willie adds a little muscle to his voice when counting of the months on "September", to then have it followed by a romantic plucky acoustic guitar solo. A true sign of a generational musical talent is an artist who can make the transition from their breakout sound to something more poppy, while still preserving what made them identifiable in the first place. Willie Nelson puts on a masterclass on how to do just that. We are lucky to hear it done with such ease on Stardust. Good Sunday listening that will put a smile on your face and help you breath a little easier. I was gonna go with a strong 4/5 stars, but this is undeniable - a total pleasure from beginning to end.

Well this was a nice surprise. This is amazing

this is a fall listen. unfortunately it's spring but I loved it nevertheless

this is an all time favorite

So calming.

Willie Nelson has a way of taking the familiar and turning into his own thing. being biased as I am because I think the Great American Songbook is some of the US's best contributions to popular music and with this release, some 20-50 years after the genre's peak (depending on how you want to define it thanks to the resurgence in the 70s), in wanders this long haired cowboy with his wonky guitar and turns songs like Unchained Melody into a heartbreaking song of solitude. 5/5

Second Willie Nelson album on the list so far and that’s 2 times 5 stars! Just straight up beautiful! 💆‍♂️

An exceptional album by the great singer/writer Willie Nelson. It highlights the clarity of his unique sound, love by many. A great collection of classic songs, performed brilliantly.

Willie Nelson was formative in my development of an appreciation of country and folk music, turning me into the closeted country lover that I am today. Growing up, my exposure was mostly through compilation albums promising "The Very Best of" that my parents would play on road trips. I don't think I realized just how many came from this single album.

songs to sob in the bus to

Loved it

I feel like a bit of a fool having dismissed Willie's songwriting and singing for so long. While there are a couple of tracks here that feel a bit cliche', his understated performance still makes them a really good listen. This was a really good album.

It feels country but beyond the genre. Blues and other elements contribute and i love this album

Beautiful, classy country music, great album

I've looked forward to this album because I have enjoyed every song I had heard prior. This is not an "exciting" Willie Nelson and I can see why his record company did not want their outlaw country artist to start singing Moonlight in Vermont and Unchained Melody. It works though. This is a wonderful album and Nelson's voice perfectly fits these songs. He's like other country artists who have not gotten their due as a crooner. Just because they don't try doesn't mean they can't do. I think if you don't like country music then you will still like this album. Some standard albums feel like they are aiming for the heart of the old timers just to sell albums, Stardust does not feel that way. Wonderful record.

This album almost made me cry. I listened in the car while snow was falling down. I love his voice, its simplicity and lack of straining. I love the care you can hear. I loved unchained melody.

Wholesome as whell

Finally a great country

Classic!

I really loved it. We all know these songs. And we've heard a million versions of them. Every other well-known artist has brought their own unique sound and meanings (mostly through their vocals), be it grandiosity, overwhelming longing or endless pain. But Willie Nelson has brought the serenity and acceptance of your fate. No hard feelings. Nelson's vocals are so calm and tender. So are the instruments. There is no storm of emotions but it doesn't mean there is no emotions at all. It's just about having this modest inner strength and not making a big deal of what your life brings. Perfect album for a demure autumn day, which is what today is. 08.01.25 update: it's been 3 weeks now and I find myself returning to this album very often. It calms and comforts me.

Fantastic album. Willie breaking from the country mold and making something soft and sweet. An intimate set of sweet songs that feel like you’re listening in a small quiet coffee shop on a calm and breezy Sunday morning.

Wonderfull feeling.

5 stars for blue skies alone

Very pleasant listen. Would make a great album to have on vinyl

Excellent cover album! Gave me a warm feeling inside. Hard to choose a least favorite track.

OMG I loveeeed this album!😍 I got this nostalgic feeling and all the songs reminded me of my grandparents. This album would be perfect for a late-night road trip in the summer. I loved the vibes and especially the harmonica!🤩 The cover is simple but cute!

Beautiful. All of it. Everything about it.

I'm not much of a country fan. But this one is a real gem! Is it country? I'm not sure. For sure it's pop. And it's not complex and not challenging to listen to, which is - I guess - typical for pop music. But it still has something special. Maybe it's because it has songs of the 50s, which did not tend to the exaggerated simpleness of today pop music. I'm not sure, but I love it.

Am I stupid this whole time I didn’t realize it was just pop covers

On the one hand, I imagine this might be a bit of an odd Willie Nelson album to start with. I don't know him for much (mostly "On The Road Again"), but if there's anything I would expect... It wouldn't be pop standards. "Georgia On My Mind" and "Unchained Melody"... Heck, it's even the return of the Gershwins, which my group last tangoed with when Ella Fitzgerald spent three hours covering their entire songbook. And as I said in that review, I do quite love me some pop standards. When they're interpreted right, they can be amazing. It's just that I imagine for someone like Willie Nelson, you'd wanna hear more of his traditional outlaw country to start with. Get a sense of what he's more and mostly known for, y'know? That said, consider the other hand: I'm actually really glad that this was my first Willie Nelson album. I feel like it was a good chance to experience Willie as a musician first before considering him as a country artist, and, well... To put it in short: oh, these were all interpreted so right. These are just incredibly beautiful, plain and simple. So much credit has to go to Booker T. Jones, of Booker T. & The MG's fame, for producing and arranging these. I just... Had such a big, happy, peaceful smile on my face. And of course, Willie sings these beautifully — and really, the fact that he defied the expectations of his record label to record this, and it came out as beautifully as it did... Jeez, I have nothing but respect. And I can't give this album anything less than a 5. Jus'... Damn.

While just being some regular standards to begin with, Willie just gives 'em this certain magic with both his voice and the instrumentation of the backing band which elevates them. 4.5 bumped up to 5.

Just perfect. Willie is the GOAT.

Brilliant album Willie seems to be on his peak best listen so far

Very good cover album. Love Willie’s spin on classic music.

My dad introduced me to Willie Nelson when I was a kid and really .....The red-headed stranger what's not love about this man... He sings these standards like the professional he is.

I’m really glad this album was on the list. Willie Nelson is one of those guys that I haven’t really gone out of my way to listen to, but his music has been really hit or miss with me. About 20 years ago, I had a CD from him that was from the late 90s, and I loved it, but than everything else that I heard from him, just wasn’t the same. Wasn’t even the same style of country, but this album is the same style as that CD than I once had, and I’m loving this one.

This was wonderful. Willie's voice is so distinctly soothing and his song choices and vocal melody choices are so perfect on every track. And the instrumentation and performances are top notch. Very, very timeless and a great listen. I listened to it twice. Five stars.

Big fan

Really chilled out album. Lots of classic songs throughout. Laid back. Very enjoyable listen

Honey sweet vocals, smooth instrumentation and deep nostalgic energy

Kermit's stoned cousin sings Nat King Cole. Beautiful.

I usually don't listen to country, but this was beautiful. Got me tear up a little.

Loved this, soft and beautiful

yeah this was crazy - worth the hype

Old school. They don't make them like this anymore. I love the production - close mic'd. Quality songs, superbly performed and arranged. Never heard this before. A pleasant surprise. Blue Skies is sublime. Great cover art.

All time classic

Music is powerful. This is a favorite. It evokes sweet memories of my Dad who loved this one.

What can I say, I love Willie in all forms.

Beautiful through and through

This was so beautiful I cried.

Bloody lovely

za zanr vrhunski

His voice is truly one of the few that needs no back up music. His version of these old standards is just beautiful. I also love how he chooses to change the cadence of his vocal delivery throughout every single song and it sounds flawless.

One of country’s greatest songwriters covering standards in his unique style. Magic.

By god Willie Nelson. What a fantastic album. So peaceful, and filled with insane guitar work

5/5 songs 5/5 performances 5/5 production About the songs... I know many of these because they are old standards but I don't really care for how they have been performed before. Willie's voice is perfect.

This is a terrific album. I had listened to this years ago, but I forgot how much I really enjoyed it. Willie‘s voice and the guitar playing just brings a different dimension. I think to the songs that are so familiar.

Willie!!

I love Willie's voice. It's so soft and warm, but also conveys so much emotion. Maybe it's the selection of songs, but it feels like he's from a much earlier era like the 10s or 20s. Beautiful record though, and I'm keen to listen to more from him. His version of blue skies is an all time favourite. 4.5

Just lovely. I put this on while I was working and didn't expect it to be so relaxing. I think on another day I might have found it boring, but instead I just found it deeply peaceful

Could listen to this every day

A touchingly beautiful album. To start, I am now exactly 2 months away from my wedding where Paweł and I’s last dance will be to Moonlight in Vermont, in Vermont, so it is an emotional listen for me to say the least. But the rest of the album is equally beautiful.

Never listened to this one before but I absolutely love it. Willie-fied pop standards are incredible.

I hate country music so this getting 5 stars from me is shocking

Hadn’t heard this album or most of the songs, but it puts you in a really pleasant mood.

Love Willie. Love standards. Two great tastes that taste great together.

Willie Nelson is such a great songwriter that I forgot what an original interpreter of songs he is. That he has an affinity for these songs is clear, they way he sings them it feels like he's sung them without anyone recording a million times. Some of these songs I'm unfamiliar with and I only know they are covers because it's a cover album. Georgia on My Mind, Willie vs. Ray...like Ted Lasso's arm wrestling match up. Just an old sweet song....that's as good a theme for this album as there can be. Blue Skies by Willie is the definition of wistful. There's like a country-jazz-blues thing that he just nails with this album. That's the best Moonlight in Vermont ever. This album feels like a Willie Nelson album, that's hard to do when it's all someone else's material. This is a masterpiece of performance, an all-time great singing some all-time greats.

These are all remakes but he does an awesome job making them his own. Willie does not have a traditionally amazing voice, but he has so much feeling and passion in his voice. I felt happiness, sadness, love and everything in between.

Now THIS is how you do harmonica. This was such an enjoyable listen. Normally I’d dock for it being a cover album, but Idc I’ve never heard the originals.

Was Willie Nelson ever on Sesame Street? I can totally imagine some of these in a duet with Elmo or Kermit. And me crying. Not my cup of tea, but screw that, some songs are marvellous and beautiful. Goosebumps on Georgia.

The is a beautiful collection and rendition of classics. Willie’s the best.

Having spent my teenage years listening to and trying to educate myself about a lot of jazz instrumentalists, it took me far too long to work out that some of these songs were melodies I knew INCREDIBLY well that I was just hearing with words for the first time. That being said that was the first time I listened to this and there have been MANY repeat listenings since as Willie Nelson is just one of the supreme calming musicians. Nothin can be truly wrong in the world in the moment in which he is singing. The version of Moonlight in Vermont particularly makes me feel this way on this album it paints it's picture so vividly and you really imagine he's picturing it alongside you. Cool asf

First Willie, and it's great :). Beautiful record, absolutely will revisit. Title track is fantastic 👍

Never listened Willie Nelson before but I loved this! The songs are kinda simple but that’s part of what makes them so good. Smooth voice and sweet lyrics without straying into corny town. It’s all very nice and I enjoyed it a lot.

relaxing, lovely country songs. willie is the sweetest little country musician i've ever had the pleasure of listening to, and a lot of tracks just make me feel all safe and content. it's just so... it's just nice. so nice. even people who hate the genre would listen to this once and go "oh gosh, isn't this nice?"

1. Georgia on my mind 2. Stardust 3. Unchained Melody / Moonlight in Vermont 4. Blue Skies 5. September song Someone to watch over me All of Me On the Sunny Side of the Street Don't Get around much anymore

Know him and a lot of his songs. Always amazes me that such a sweet voice comes out of him.

Lovely

Wonderful

Country is my least favorite genre of music. That being said, this album is the only c&w album I've purchased in my life. Back in the late 80's when everyone was converting their collections to CD I picked this lp up for $1 in a swap meet parking lot. Simpler times. This album's a classic and an easy 5 stars. After I'm done listening to this one I'm going to listen to Willie sing They All Went to Mexico with Santana.

It surprised me! Absolutely loved it! 5

I love everything about this!!!

A gem of an album. Exquisite craftsmanship that reveals a depth of artistry the world didn't know Willie Nelson had (or Booker T Jones, for that matter). If this wasn't the album that enabled Willie to get stoned at the White House, it should have been.

"Stardust," the iconic album by Willie Nelson, released in 1978, remains a pinnacle in the country music genre and beyond. Nelson, already established as a revered figure in the industry, took a bold step with this album by deviating from his traditional country roots and delving into the timeless classics of American popular music. Here's an in-depth review, focusing on lyrics, music, production, themes, and influence, along with its pros and cons. **Lyrics:** Nelson's approach to interpreting these classic songs is nothing short of masterful. Each lyric is delivered with sincerity and a deep understanding of the emotional nuances embedded within them. From the yearning in "Georgia on My Mind" to the melancholy of "Blue Skies," Nelson captures the essence of these timeless pieces, infusing them with his own brand of heartfelt storytelling. The simplicity and universality of the lyrics allow listeners to connect on a personal level, regardless of their background or experiences. **Music:** The musical arrangements on "Stardust" are exquisitely crafted, showcasing Nelson's versatile talent as a musician and his keen ear for melody. Whether reflecting on the passage of time in "All of Me" or seeking solace in the face of heartache in "Unchained Melody," Nelson navigates the complexities of human relationships with grace and empathy. The overarching theme of nostalgia pervades the album, transporting listeners to a bygone era and evoking a sense of wistful longing for simpler times. **Influence:** "Stardust" has had a profound influence on both the country music genre and popular music as a whole. Nelson's bold reinterpretation of these classic songs paved the way for future artists to explore new musical territories and push the boundaries of genre conventions. The album's enduring legacy is evident in its continued relevance and influence, inspiring generations of musicians to embrace their creativity and embrace the timeless appeal of Americana. **Pros:** 1. Nelson's emotive vocals breathe new life into classic songs, imbuing them with a sense of authenticity and depth. 2. The musical arrangements are beautifully crafted, blending elements of country, jazz, and blues to create a unique and captivating sound. 3. The production quality is top-notch, thanks to Booker T. Jones' expert guidance behind the scenes. 4. The album's themes of love, loss, and nostalgia resonate with listeners on a deeply emotional level, transcending the boundaries of genre and time. **Cons:** 1. Some listeners may find Nelson's departure from traditional country music jarring or unexpected. 2. The album's slow pace and contemplative mood may not appeal to those seeking more upbeat or energetic music. 3. While Nelson's interpretations are undeniably heartfelt, some purists may prefer the original versions of these classic songs. In conclusion, "Stardust" stands as a timeless masterpiece that showcases Willie Nelson's immense talent as a musician, storyteller, and interpreter of song. From its heartfelt lyrics to its exquisite musical arrangements, every aspect of the album is crafted with care and precision, resulting in a work of art that continues to captivate audiences decades after its release. Whether you're a longtime fan of Nelson's music or discovering it for the first time, "Stardust" is an essential addition to any music lover's collection.

Just great. So relaxing. Love 1001 albums for this kind of discovery.

One of the greatest albums of all time, by one of the greatest writer, singers of all time. A classic that will live on forever.

He really can do whatever he wants, legend

One of the quintessential Late Night™️ albums. Given its construct, it’s hard to tell where the term “pop standard” ends and the term “country cover” begins, but maybe that doesn’t matter much anyway. If you walk in hating country, you’ll be okay, because it’s never so twangy that you can’t hear a pop tune, but then, if you don’t want to hear traditional pop standards, well, these are closer to a bar singer than Frank Sinatra, so you’re going to be okay. Some of the cuts here are the best versions of the song ever imo, regardless of genre: “Blue Skies,” “Unchained Memory,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.” And the other versions aren’t too shabby, either. There’s a couple songs here that I’d only play during a full listen, mainly “Moonlight in Vermont,” but at a tight 30 minutes, this is an easy full listen, and an obvious “play it back again” record. Nelson’s voice is just so gorgeous, like it feels factory calloused, worn out and patched like an old flannel, but somehow has this model-esque quality, too, with striking blue eyes that would make your lip quiver and your spine shiver if you stare too long. I think that’s the most compelling element here. His voice is just so amazing, and it begs you to revisit each song as soon as it’s over. Absolutely a gorgeous record that has more depth behind it than you’d initially assume. Not flawless because not every traditional pop song holds water, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if my least favorite songs are someone’s favorites, and vice versa. Honestly need to dig into Nelson’s own music now just to hear more of that golden voice.

I have not previously heard a full song of Willie Nelson. Although I knew of his legendary voice. Stardust is an amazing dreamy album to listen to and will definitely listen to it again.

Great album, love Willie's voice and was not expecting as much blues. Maybe I should listen to more Willie Nelson if that's news to me.

Willie Nelson took a risk here by recording standards and it certainly paid off. His voice and sparse arrangements give these songs a delicacy that they don’t have in their big band versions. The result is full of emotion and subtlety.

fuck, man. this hits me right in the feels. sometimes, simple is beautiful. 5/5

Thank you willie nelson for being a cutie and keeping me company while I read my old stories. I'll try to walk on the sunny side of the street <3

Had not heard this perfect CD of ballards country style. Such great renditions and what I usually feel is a tiresome voice works in this album perfectly. Perfect length. I dislike country but this CD which I had not listened to since 1993 when i High School, when for some reason my dad got a hold to it, he would play it on my way to drop me to school and I hated it, listening to it now its just a beautiful masterpiece we should all be able to enjoy. For context not one single country song is played in Puerto Rican radio stations, not then not now. So its a wierd genere to me.

Great takes on a lot of classic songs. Really well done.

# Playlist track - Stardust # Notes - Willie tells how it is from the very first second. It's cool, and crafted and it takes it time. Sit around and enjoy. Look at the sky for a while. - It's a pleasant, soothing ride all along. - When "Unchained Melody" comes up, I dread for a second. It's a very cheesy, overplayed song. Will it break the album? Nope. - 7/7 Stars

All timer baby. Love this album before it was generated for me

Amazing arrangements

I’m really glad this album was on the list. Willie Nelson is one of those guys that I haven’t really gone out of my way to listen to, but his music has been really hit or miss with me. About 20 years ago, I had a CD from him that was from the late 90s, and I loved it, but than everything else that I heard from him, just wasn’t the same. Wasn’t even the same style of country, but this album is the same style as that CD than I once had, and I’m loving this one.

Somehow had never come across this. Some really lovely covers, and a really interesting story behind the whole album’s impetus.

Beautiful sounding album.

This was so lovely.

Opening song, 'Stardust' is beautiful. Loving the harmonica everywhere. Surprisingly, Blue Skies is meh for me compared to the rest of the album. This album is just so beautiful. I always pictured Willie Nelson as a much more typical honky tonk country guy.

Album 362 of 1001 Willie Nelson - Stardust Rating : 5 / 5 Favorite Track : Georgia On My Mind A really enjoyable album that could appeal to most anyone. Was already familiar with all songs, so it was a pleasant revisit. Found myself thinking of the club owner in the Purple Rain sequence from the movie who was indifferent at first but then nodding his head in acceptance by the end. That is kind of how I feel when this album ends. Just an agreeable nodding of the head.

First time I enjoyed the harmonica— lot of soul in this.

Solid album

God Bless Willie!

Willie has an amazing voice and he really did justice to these classic tracks

I'll be honest, I only really knew 'On The Road Again' and 'Crazy' by Willie Nelson. Of course I knew who he was and his activism but musicaly, i just thought another Country icon. I listened to this album twice and have downloaded it. A voice like a comfy pair of slippers, a charisma that is timeless and a singer on a par - though different - with Sinatra. The songs may be standards and all sound similar to 'Crazy' or 'On The Road Again' but a discovery made many years too late.

A whole vibe.

Such a delightful voice, listening to this in the morning made me feel very peaceful. I would honestly compare it to Sinatra, only a country version, you can see the influence.

I love this album. Can't believe it was just his second release.

All these tunes are part of the American songbook. Classics. Willie has his own interpretation, which I appreciate. I liked it.
