Reviews (page 8 of 8)

Kinda of everything I dislike about classic rock manifested into an album. I found it quite boring and bland, but at the same time it’s very much not my kind of music. 3/10

There's something wrong when my best argument for this being one of Stewart's best albums is that its the shortest at only 35 minutes. We all know the classic rock hit "Stay With Me" but even that I don't think is particularly noteworthy. You have a good diversity though, with the first few tracks being hard rock, funk boogie rock, a ballad, then Dylan-esque roots rock. It's decent. We got some generic rockabilly solos... I'm not feeling any personality or soul in these tracks.

fucking shite without steve marriot like

Set fuzz box to full badger's arse and rock out, preferably in some spit and sawdust pub. Quite enjoyable but a bit one-dimensional.

a pub rock band fronted by a leopard

Like Rod Stewart's massive train set, this album is well put together with good attention to detail, but there is nothing original going on. It's enjoyable enough to play with for half an hour, but pretty dated and not worth a second trip around the tracks. 2.5/5

Generic 70s music. It was good background music but nothing that great.

I didn't love it but I think I just need a break from 60s-80s rock at this point.

I hate seventies

Instantly forgotten

This seems pretty generic and uninspired. There are barely any professional reviews on it either.

4/10. On the low side of meh.

Proto cock rock, but played well.

Blues rock band featuring Rod Stewart as the front man. Smart and tight performed, this gives good vibes with a blues sound. Stay With Me is pretty gross, mainly because it puts the image of Rod Stewart having sex in my brain, which I could do without.

Great title! Dull and predictable album.

Think I'll pass thanks.

Ehhh. It just doesn't work for me. Not a huge fan of being essentially screamed words at.

Boring as hell

Prefer my southern interpretations without Rod Stewart

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Stay With Me Cutting Edge: Overall Notes: I read that Faces were considered a really good live band, but the only place I really felt their energy was Stay With Me (which I really liked). Outside of that song, the rest of the album kinda dragged on for me. More power to you if you liked this though.

pretty basic blues rock from 70's, nothing wrong with that but also nothing entertaining about this too!

Was ok - wouldn't listen again.

I didn't find myself enjoying this album much, played it in the background and barely noticed it.

Decent for Rod Stewart

Very predictable, but has some enjoyable moments

A Nod Is As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse?

I don't like rod stuart

I have similar feelings to this as the previous Rod Stewart album. Gonna give this a 2 to balance both out to a 2.5

Näe ganska så himla dåligt, 2/5

Rod Stewart

An ok record. Not something I would go back to.

Forgettable

Better than I expected but got bored quite quickly. Some nice musicianship too but not being able to keep me entertained with only 9 songs is a weak effort. 2*

Helt okei, litt kjedelig

Okay southerny album

Rod Stewart’s band. Never liked Rod.

1971: Stay With Me, Debris

As a teenager I loved this album, and the Faces, as a band, were incredible, Ronny Lane and Ian MacGlagan in particular But Rod Stewart’s racism, particularly towards south East Asians, his support for Enoch Powell has made this album unlistenable now. Are people forgetting Rock against Racism was started because of musicians like Stewart and Clapton.

This is heavy boomer album Will I listen to again: 0%

"Itchycoo Park" aside, I never particularly cared for the Small Faces. And now that they've cast aside all that psychedelic stuff and become normal-sized Faces, I dislike them even more! I didn't hate the cover of "Memphis", but that's still obsolete compared to Berry's original, and there's not much else of interest here. British people thinking they can boogie is truly one of the most dire things in existence...

Despite Rod Stewart only having 2 solo albums on the list, the number of albums from Rod Stewart projects that I went into not knowing it was him is astounding. I do not like this man's music, it's soulless and completely generic, not to mention how he just can't sing at all. This album is everything I would expect out of an album from him, and I swear if I'm tricked into listening to one more goddamn Rod Stewart album....

Crazy old 3 songs in, lwk trash Stay with me was semi decent

I can’t stand Rod Stewart’s strangulated honk of a voice.

This was shit

I just found I really wasn't very interested. It just seems to be very mediocre blues rock and I feel like I've heard enough of that. There are some incredible musicians involved for sure - I just wish they would do something I care about. I must admit my bias against Rod Stewart - I've mostly grown up around him being a novelty figure, but I recognise that he was once credible

God, for someone who wrote (maybe) my favorite song of all time, Rod Stewart largely makes really, really, awful music. Boomer slop at its sloppiest... 1.5/5

This album sounds so country and the instruments sounds good, but the melody is not that unique. It sounds generic. Kinda of bored me and the vocals is not serving either, it's not the worse, but it he did sound hoarsely annoying. However, I think the album shines on slower paced songs, which is surprising because I usually prefer upbeat/messy/loud songs. Liked songs: Love Lives Here Jan. 22, 2026 - 7:20PM

I'm sure it's grand but with that voice I just couldn't stomach it.

Boring blues rock that doesn't even have the benefit of Rod Stewart's good bad voice - he just sounds normal.

This album sounds like if someone bought the Rolling Stones from Temu. Or if I tried to explain the concept of blues rock to someone but actually hadn’t listened to any of it myself

Rod Stewart’s voice makes me want to scratch my skin off and jump in a vat of rubbing alcohol.

This album really didn’t do anything for me at all. Besides for debris, I thought it was super boring and wanted to listen to something else instead. Definitely not for me.

Not my jam. This ain't blueberry, foo'

It was okay. Expecting a little more. Nothing felt particularly memorable. Would not listen to again.

There was really nothing enjoyable about this. The songs were so basic and tasteless. Not a fan. 1.4/5 - 1/5

Just so unremarkable

I'm hard-pressed to find words of my own that convey my feelings about this better than a review here that already exists. It reads as follows (slightly abridged): "This is music for your aunt. [...] This album has no legacy, it has influenced nothing noteworthy. It's stale white bread in a cabinet that smells faintly of mildew and is lined with a tacky layer of faded orange and green plastic sheeting. This is an album that was meant to take up space at a Goodwill or a Salvation Army in between Barry Manilow and a six volume Christian music box set that's missing two records and the vinyl is warped. Once you have heard Neu! you never have to hear this album." As such, it's a perfect representation of anything Rod Stewart has ever recorded.

I couldn't make it through this lol

Identitetslöst och inte minnesvärt alls. Varför är det här med?!?! Någon enstaka habil låt, men annars svagt, mesigt och basic. Kommer lyssna igen : nej Bästa spår: Love lives here (d/dw) Betyg: d - 2 av 10 (1 av 5) D2: 3 av 10 (1 av 5)

absolutely deserves a spot on the list, being as notable as it is for its uhhh well, it's bluesy, and you see, um, ronnie lane does a bit of a bob Dylan thing with his voice on track 2?

This album left no impression at all on me. I listened to it and completely forgot what it was. That’s how uninspired and boring it was.

This is the plot of Sinners

che pacco

Is so ass", и я хотел бы доверять себе. Лучшая песня - Too Bad.

More boomer shit that did not need to be listened to before I die.

Bland and generic, this was a really dull album. stay with me was alright, definitely the best song on the album, but still a dime a dozen. 1/5 stars.

More from the era of British guys attempting blues. Surely fun for them, not so much for me.

Fuck off

Not for me. Never have been. But I listed to the whole thing

Stay with me and then some songs I've never heard of...

It's alright, but not the best British blues rock album I have heard. D

Now I’m a man who loves a wink but this nod is not good

So I had an LA confidential style Lana Turner moment with the first track: "Dude's trying way too hard to sound like Rod Stewart." Oops. Unfortunately, that was the high point of the album.

Pretty tepid stuff. I guess it proves that ripping off the Stones isn’t as easy as it looks. People love Rod Stewart’s voice, but, I don’t know, to me it’s pretty grating, to say nothing of Ronnie Lane who can barely sing a note. None of these songs have anything interesting going on musically or lyrically (except maybe the one Chuck Berry wrote), and the end result is just about the most watered-down boring blues rock I’ve ever heard.

✨boring✨ and ✨uninspired✨

bleh .... old ass rock

I hate every version of Rod Stewart, but I tried to give this a fair listen. The piano and instrumentation of Love Lives Here makes Stewart's singing bearable. Debris was a pleasant listen (despite Stewart's backing vocals). The rest of the album is skippable.

What a boring album. There was nothing remarkable about it. I found myself counting down the songs until it was all over, and it wasn't even a long album. Just absolute boring boomer music.

Not a fan but rod’s voice is great. Standout track: Miss Judy’s Farm

Boring classic rock without even the classic aspect? I've never even heard of them. I am ready for the boomers to go away so music like this is forgotten.

Very standard rock n roll? Miss Judy's Farm - like Rod's voice. Not that interested 2. You're So Rude. Nothing novel/ innovative yet? 3. Love Lives Here - much prefer 4. Last Orders Please. Stupido. kitsch. dumb 5. Stay With Me. Not registering. dumbo 6. Debris. Another Ballad after love lives here. these are better. a different singer from rod? No need to listen to this ever again? just turn on a classic rock station 1/5

Ännu en rockskiva från 70- talet

Doggy poopoos

No son we’ve got The Beatles at home. Couldn’t wait for it to end. 1/5

I heard a song by Faces a while back and was surprised that it was good, because I’ve always found Rod Stewart to be quite boring. I think it was Stay With Me, which is on this album. It bodes well, so let’s listen! Songs I already knew: Stay With Me Favourites: Stay With Me For the sake of fairness, I’m full of the flu so didn’t exactly go into this with a cheery disposition. This album was just so boring. Stay With Me was the best song on it, but that song isn’t exactly an exciting song anyway. Rod Stewart is obviously a very successful guy, but I just don’t get it. It’s the most boring, generic rock music out there. I have no intention at all to come back to this album because it’s the audio equivalent of watching paint dry.

This album was painfully boring in my opinion. I tried to like it, but just nothing stuck out to me. I thought I liked the last song in the album, but it turns out it was a song by a completely different artist that Spotify had recommended at the end of the album.

Never heard of Faces, nice album title, shit cover, let's go! Seems this band has two lead singers, the raspy-voiced simpleton sounding Rod Stewart, who strikes me as an asshole by his lyrics (the part about kicking a poodle on the first track didn't go down well, and he never recovered). The second is a mellowed-out dollar store Dylan sounding Ronnie Lane, who honestly should have been featured on more of the songs. The music is (surprise, surprise!) bluesy rock played by a British band. Pretty average overall. Most of the songs needlessly accelerate the tempo towards the end that just turns them into a sloppy mess. Noticed that Memphis is a Chuck Berry cover (who inexplicably is missing from this list, and not for being a sex offender and pedophile, as there are plenty of those on here). Gave the original a spin. My god, they managed to take ALL of the nostalgia out of the song! Tried hard to find a redeeming aspect, but couldn't. Into the 1-star pile you go.

utterly forgettable, not sure why this is interesting

Took me like 3 attemptsjust to finish it. God this is awful

No Rod Stewart pls

Cock rock at its worst (or best if you like that sort of thing). Hard to believe this was 3/4 of the the Small Faces. WTF happened? Oh yeah, cocaine became the drug of choice instead!! I think I would rather listen to Nico over this. Then again......

Fuck. No.

Truly an bad album. I felt nothing but annoyance listening to it, anxiously waiting for it to just be over. bad bad bad.

Yawn...

The only way I could do that was if you wanted me too I could come and pick it out for me if I want it done I just have a couple of days off so I’m just going home to do that I can get my ynails and then I’ll go get the money out and get my hair and get the rest and get it out and get my haircut tomorrow morning I have a couple things I have a doctors note that I’m supposed for the day so I’ll be out there by then but I’m just not going out to get my haircut today I don’t want so I’ll have a lot to get my nails and I don’t have a haircut and I don’t want it to get my haircut and I have a hair cut tomorrow so if I don’t have a little more money to go get it all day I have a little something else to do that I have a lot to get it just to make it I have a little extra time I have a lot to get it doesn’t make it to the store I don’t have a good night and then I’ll see if I don’t want you to live.

LOVE this folksy rock-n-roll vibe. Super duper super into it. Had an “omg” moment when Stay With Me came on and I realized I knew the band. Had another one when I went to the bands page and realized I’ve previously favorited some of their songs on Spotify. And then another one when I realized it was Rod Stewart as the front man 😂 duhhhhhhhh Kelsey.

not my type of music, vintage and i listen to a lot of old songs but this was not it
