Another band that I have never heard of before today. Good classic music, easy to listen to and enjoy. I'd listen to their other albums. This one was merely ok, I may listen to it again but I'm happy to have heard it at least once.

Don't think I'll ever be much of a Rod fan, but this blows the shit out of his 71 solo effort Every Picture Tells a Story, that seems a lifeless pile of junk in comparison. Shows just how talented The Faces were to make Stewart sound as good as this.
Best Song: Stay with Me. It might be just because this song has a hint of familiarity, but I think Rod Stewart's otherwise frustrating voice works here. Worst Song: Love Lives Here. I absolutely despise these kinds of "look how much I care" ballads that seem so popular from this era. Overall: There is something about Rod Stewart's voice that I just don't like. To me, it sounds "flat". Like butter scraped over too much bread. It feels like it's missing some resonant, bass-y quality. Beyond that, the rest of the album is your pretty standard classic rock. Nothing to hate, nothing to love.

I don't enjoy Rod Stewart's music, so I felt the same way about this. Not bad, just boring to me.
I feel like I just got tricked into listening to Rod Stewart. And, you know, I was mad about it at first. But then I just resigned myself to fact that I was in for an album full of growly, overly-dramatic vocals. And you know what? I really enjoyed the album. It's just solid, middle-of-the-road, rock and roll. Nothing super unique or surprising but everything was just... good. Even though there was a ton of Rod Stewart singing. Go figure.
I liked the heck out of this. Stay With Me is the high point, but I listened to this twice through and didn't get tired of it. Even the stuff that hangs in the background still has enough meat on it to keep it interesting. Simultaneously sounds old-fashioned and cooler than a lot of newer music. Funny thinking Rod Stewart was once not middle-aged.
Even at its hokiest and most derivative, there is a strain of 1970s rock that is still very listenable because it has a certain groove and feeling behind it. 'A Nod's...' falls squarely in this category, although I'm doing it a little disservice as some of the material is strong - 'Miss Judy's Farm' heaves and sweats, 'Stay With Me' is rollicking good fun, and the ballads are generally done well. Also in its favour are two distinctive vocalists, which add a little variety to the mix. Overall, the tumbledown charm mitigates against hearing yet another uninspiring minor pentatonic blooz rock riff being squeezed out for the umpteenth time. This album is like an arm thrown boozily around the shoulder by some reprobate mate as he leads you to another bar - even though you had originally planned for a quiet pint or two. Good fun!
Eh, fine. "Stay With Me" is a good time, but on the whole I spent most of the record wondering why I would choose to listen to this over anything of the similar era from The Rolling Stones. I think the answer is that, in most instances, I wouldn't. So the headline here is, "New Faces album isn't The Rolling Stones." Which isn't fair, really, but it's all I got.
Imagine being the co-vocalist in a band with Rod Stewart. While Ronnie Lane is a great bass player, often underrated and overlooked among the other classic rock players, he’s not that great of a singer. Ringo Starr was generally allowed one song on each Beatles LP, and while he’s not that great of a singer either (especially in relation to the other lads in the band) at least he’s in on the joke, and certainly not taking himself very seriously. Everyone knows that Ringo knows that he cannot sing like Paul McCartney. More importantly, the ‘Ringo’ song never interrupts the movement of the whole LP. ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ still sounds like the Beatles and Sgt Pepper’s. I wish I could say the same about Ronnie Lane’s singing on 'A Nod Is As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse'- ‘You’re So Rude’ or the boogie-woogie ‘Last Order Please’ or even his best of his three, ‘Debris,’ set to the accompaniment of Allman Brothers sounding acoustic guitars. They’re not bad songs, just songs badly sung. Lane’s lead vocals are only average, and that’s being generous. The joy of a Ringo vocal is utterly absent from Lane’s repertoire. And allotting more than one song- a third of the album- does interrupt the movement of the whole. One listen to a Ronnie Lane lead vocal followed by a Rod Stewart will tell you all you need to know. Lane clearly needs to stick to bass duty, and singing back up only. Rod Stewart’s voice is just too unique, too good, the perfect rough and ready but at the same time melodic style befitting a swaggering early 70s British rock n’ roll/soul band. And the Faces do know how to put the roll in the rock on the Stewart numbers: the loose, ‘Miss Judy’s Farm’ or the Stones-like ‘Too Bad’ (actually, badly in need of a Mick Taylor lead guitar solo) or especially the rollicking ‘Stay With Me,’ this LP’s big hit. This is quintessential Faces. But, alas, this rock n’ roll train stopped in too many stations, even derailing on Chuck Berry’s ‘Memphis.’ I’m not generally a fan of a guitar played through a Leslie effect, not finding the sound particularly pleasant, no matter how well it’s played. This is not a knock on Ron Wood, who is more than competent on his guitar. He’s in his comfort zone all over this LP, opting for mostly rhythm, interspersed with lots of nice chops and hooks, rather than scorching, flashy leads, very similar to the technique of his good mate, Keith Richards. Oi, it’s good ol’ fashioned, down and dirty, early 70s pub and cock rock. Hoist a few pints along with this listen, maybe attend to the bathroom or have a smoke outside during the Lane numbers, and don’t take it too seriously. Save your intense listening for the next Stone’s album that followed, 'Exile On Main Street.'

Enjoyed Rod Stewart’s songs
This started to sound interesting but slowly felt like a very basic rock album. I'm not sure why they are on this list, the music wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything new or fresh compared to the hundreds of rock bands on this list. I've never heard of them before.
Eh, not doing much for me. This is Rod Stewart's band I guess? I've never been a fan of him either. I can't say this is bad, it's just middle-of-the-road, serviceable rock music. Two songs I enjoyed, the rest was a nondescript blur. Maybe I'm the blind horse. I'll forget about this one posthaste. Favorite tracks: You're So Rude, Debris. Album art: Picture got me worried this was a live album. I do think the album title is clever, but nothing inspired or inspiring to look at here. 2/5

This album is a revelation. I<ve listened to it three times and each spin has been more enjoyable as the one before. The band cooks and Rod Stewart is in fine voice throughout. THe band rocks so hard that at times I<m thinking this is as good as or better than any Stones album. 5 stars

I think learning about the band was more interesting than the album itself. Love Lives Here, Stay with Me, and Memphis were the standouts.
So fun! I had not known of this band; always thought 'Stay With Me', the only song I had heard before from this album, was a song Rod Stewart did on his own. I didn't even know who was in the band when I clicked 'play' to start it up. Side Note: as the first track opened, I immediately thought of The Black Crowes' 'Jealous Again'. I like The Black Crowes and I like that song, and I'm not at all suggesting they copied that track. Nearly every rock song can be connected to so many that came before it, and those all can be connected to old blues songs that came before them, so I don't get too hung up on "originality" in that context. (For what it's worth, I find originality in music for me flows more from sound, style, melody, how they interpret and apply all those things, etc.) I'm not a huge Rod Stewart fan -- don't dislike him, just never been all that interested -- but this is a good album. Ronnie Lane's voice reminds me a little of Velvet Underground's sound. Ronnie Wood is a fantastic blues-rock guitarist and I can really hear it here. Hearing Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones in this band is great. Ah, the things I learn from this project!

Third Thought: Oh no, this guy sounds totally different on song 2 I must have imaged it Stay with Me is a banger, it's cute that Rod lets the other guy sing every other song, though you'd think he'd be more focused on putting out a good album. Seems like Rod's songs are all awesome, and this other dude is just dragging things down a bit. Was originally planning to give this a 3, but the last batch of tracks from Stay With Me onwards was pretty solid so I'll bump it to a 4.

Entertaining bluesy rock album, not shaking trees but a bunch of decent musicians finessing their craft.
A straight up rock n' roll landmark. It's not complicated, but all the parts come together perfectly. The highlight is Stay with Me. Sure, the lyrics are horrible and misogynistic, but damn if it doesn't rock. I think if I had to pick one song that best embodies the spirit of rock and roll, this would be it. 4 stars.

A Nod's As Good As a Wink... to a Blind Horse was the first time I'd heard of Faces, then to find out that in it was Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood was a nice surprise. A very succinct album that hit all the right notes for a country/blues rock album. Best: Stay With Me Worst: Last Orders

Je ne connaissais pas du tout ce band. Bien sûr je connais Rod Stewart et (un peu moins) Ronnie Wood, donc j'étais bien curieux d'entendre cet album. C'est un blues rock pas mauvais, mais à part Stay with Me, et la guitare sur That's All You Need que j'ai bien aimée, pas rien de très mémorable ici. Je trouve quand même que le style de voix de Rod Stewart fonctionne très bien ici. En lisant un peu plus sur l'album et sur Rod Stewart lors de l'écoute, ça m'a permis d'apprendre que cet album est sortie la même année que le gros succès qu'à eu Rod avec sa chanson Maggie May. Ça permet de contextualiser l'époque et de réaliser que j'aime mieux le Rod Stewart qui rock, même si Maggie May reste une bonne pièce. Bref, je suis content d'avoir écouté cet album, mais je ne crois pas y revenir.

There's something wrong when my best argument for this being one of Stewart's best albums is that its the shortest at only 35 minutes. We all know the classic rock hit "Stay With Me" but even that I don't think is particularly noteworthy. You have a good diversity though, with the first few tracks being hard rock, funk boogie rock, a ballad, then Dylan-esque roots rock. It's decent. We got some generic rockabilly solos... I'm not feeling any personality or soul in these tracks.

I liked this album. Stay with me is a classic and knew of the faces prior to this. The whole album is pretty good. It’s relatively short but brings plenty of energy. It’s fun and the instrumentals seem good. Rod Stewart is a classic musician. 7.2/10

If you like The Black Crowes then Faces is for you.
From the opener, a refreshing blues sound with great mixing. A pure blues rock record. Towards the end of the record are some great instrumental cuts, interspersed with vocals. I liked hearing the steel drum in the final track. The guitar sound is nice and crunchy, and it’s obvious these guys know how to play.

First exposure to the band with this album, the lead vocalist was strangely familiar. After a little research, it is somewhat surprising to learn of Rod Stewart, seeing that his solo career sort of puts a damper on the impact of Faces as a band, asking people to instead see how its individual members fared. The album is a solid 70s rock album. Rod Stewart as a rock vocalist, as long as one can ignore that it is Rod Stewart, can still insist that this album is a well-done, and consistently good production. While none of the songs stand out in particular, this actually may be a good thing. Start to finish, the album is what it is, and that is a solid 70s rock album. An honorable mention is the end track "That's All You Need" --- because that is what this album seems to give.
Set fuzz box to full badger's arse and rock out, preferably in some spit and sawdust pub. Quite enjoyable but a bit one-dimensional.

Like Rod Stewart's massive train set, this album is well put together with good attention to detail, but there is nothing original going on. It's enjoyable enough to play with for half an hour, but pretty dated and not worth a second trip around the tracks. 2.5/5

Moving on from the mixed response to their early work and still under the shadow of their bandmates' earlier incarnation as the Small Faces, Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood penned this nine track album together. It seems to have been carried by the momentum of its hit single, "Stay With Me": most of the rest is solid, if unremarkable, 70s rock. The line-up and musicianship here is fairly rudimentary with a few chances for each member to shine: there's a heavy blues inflection to most of the songs (including some harmonica), no shortage of distinctive guitar licks from Rolling Stone-to-be Wood, and welcome interjections from Ian McLagan's distorted electric piano and organ. Drummer Kenney Jones is reasonably restrained, playing in locked beats but often letting loose towards the end of some songs. When he leads the band in letting rip slightly more (the accelerandos towards the end of "Miss Judy's Farm" and "Memphis") it's a good time, but not transcendent. "Stay With Me" is of course the high watermark here: the band's biggest hit and no doubt the reason this album is on the list. It boasts a riff dripping with bravado, a concise chord progression, and Stewart's trademark rasp in full singalong mode. The rest of the strongest moments are in the album's second half: "Too Bad" is the biggest rocker on the record, with a big Stones vibe in the trebly rhythm guitar. The closer "That's All You Need" is the closest the band get to matching Zeppelin, with its Delta-blues style slide riff. It then kicks off into a rollicking rock number, shooting for "You Can't Always Get What You Want" style epiphany with a bit of an underwhelming steel-drum coda. While it's perfectly enjoyable and often great rock music, the main problem I've had with this album is that with every passing track, it becomes impossible not to compare Faces with their litany of contemporaries who have stood the test of time and attained "legend" status. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, T. Rex, Deep Purple… the list goes on. Comparison is often an unfair beast, but it's hard to avoid when the curators of this list insist on piling in so many early 70s rock bands (many of whom also worked with producer Glyn Johns and produced much better results). Up against the towering work of their peers, Faces come across as ready-salted, meat and potatoes, vanilla rock. "Love Lives Here" is a run-of-the-mill ballad, "Last Orders Please" is a hokey blues shuffle and "You're So Rude" is so plodding it almost runs itself into the ground. It also has to be said that the songs with Ronnie Lane on lead vocals suffer for a lack of Rod Stewart (and I never thought I'd write that). It's good unabashed rock, sure, but I'm not going to die grateful to have heard it.
Found a cool new slower song I didn't know of
I've always found Rod Stewart to be particularly difficult to like, but it works on this early, glam, stomper of an album. It nips along and doesn't outstay its welcome, but feels a bit meat-and-potatoes. It's kind of a steady plod from start to finish.

everyones favourite singing nan. he's looked like a bingo regular for the past 40 years. The small faces were a tremendous band so its a bit of a shame they turned into the rod stewart backing band. I'm not really that arsed about Rods singing voice so its nice to hear some flashes of the old small faces every now and then.
I once nodded at a blind horse and ended up being married to her for 15 years. What a 'mare. Had I winked, I'd have been much better off, so I dont agree with the sentiment one bit. The Faces performed at my son's bar mitzvah. He had recently been diagnosed with leukaemia and wasn't in the best of moods. Ronnie Wood tried to cheer him up by flirting with him and boasting about how much mashed watermelon he could eat in an hour. We all sat around watching Ronnie jamming melon in his gob like it was going out of fashion, which of course it was at the time. After the hour was up and nothing short of 38 watermelons had been consumed, Ronnie and the rest of the band got on stage and performed their hits. You could see Ronnie was struggling and his bowels eventually gave way. He shit all over the stage and decorated the front row of 13 year old boys in fizzy brown pebbles. We all fell about laughing and renamed them The Faeces. My son died of leukaemia later that evening, but what a send off it was.
The thing about faces is every one is unique. The fact that Rod Stewart decorated his with an expensive mullet is his perogative and should be celebrated for the majestic beast it is. He has a great voice too and should get drunk and do cup draws more often. Better than Kurt Zouma kicking a cat.
Is Nigel going to freestyle on A Nod Is As Good As A Wank To A Blind Horse? Almost certainly. This was fine. Nice, safe, comforting vaguely bluesy rock n' roll. Although I do wonder if it already sounded retro / dated (delete as appropriate) when it was released as it does absolutely whiff on the '60s.
Ah, Rod. This would be pub-faire blues rock without his standout rawkish voice. Album was never a success but it did give us "Stay with me" which in immense. An enjoyable 35 minutes.

Instantly forgotten
Listen: Things turned out pretty well for Rod Stewart. I'd argue that he ultimately ended up with the career he wanted (unless I'm way off here, and he was a frustrated soccer player, but I think Rod's association with soccer and his love for "football" was just part of his carefully crafted image). But I wonder about some sliding door moments where either the Jeff Beck Group or Faces broke through in ways that the Stones or Led Zeppelin did, and then maybe Rod would have been a lesser Mick Jagger or Robert Plant. But that's basically who Rod Stewart is. He doesn't have quite the front man charisma of Jagger. He definitely never had the soaring vocal skills that Plant had back in the day. And I think Rod Stewart knew this about himself. He still has (or had) one of the more unique voices in rock and/or roll. And some of the songs he sings lead on for the Faces (especially Bad 'N' Ruin) and the Jeff Beck Group are balls out classics. As are a ton of his early solo songs. But Rod Stewart's persona and ego were too big to be hidden as "just" the lead vocalist for a band. Not to mention having to give up lead vocals to a Ronnie Lane on certain songs. And Rod has a point there. His voice is so much better than Lane's, and you end up wishing Rod was the lone lead vocalist here. The material itself is decent. It's just not Zeppelin or the Stones. And maybe Rod Stewart knew that better than anyone.

A lot of the tracks are well-paced, good originals, but wears out a tad before it's conclusion. The 5-minute Chuck Berry cover in the middle seems to come out of nowhere.

Blues rock band featuring Rod Stewart as the front man. Smart and tight performed, this gives good vibes with a blues sound. Stay With Me is pretty gross, mainly because it puts the image of Rod Stewart having sex in my brain, which I could do without.

Say what you want about Rod Stewart's career, but he in fact was a great blues and rock vocalist with the Jeff Beck Group and when he and Ron Wood left to join some ex-Small Faces to form the Faces. This was Stewart and Wood at their best (I prefer Wood's guitar work with the Faces than with the Stones) and A Nod Is As Good...was a high point for the band. The band was drunken and sloppy live, but their studio albums were classic records. Wood's guitar work is exceptional on Nod and Stewart never sounded better. The same band would also record on Stewart's early albums, so in reality the Faces produced a lot of great, memorable albums.
Cock rock at its worst (or best if you like that sort of thing). Hard to believe this was 3/4 of the the Small Faces. WTF happened? Oh yeah, cocaine became the drug of choice instead!! I think I would rather listen to Nico over this. Then again......

Why is Rod pretending to be american 'Tenn er see' I ask you? This album reminded me of the time I was waiting all night for a taxi whilst locked in a half full wheely bin with only a deranged incontinent blind cat for company. Sure the piss kept me warm as it ran down my back and the noxious smell of the half composted rubbish was a comfort as it sent me into a hallucinogenic state. But what really pissed me of was the 10er that I had for the taxi got soaked from the seeping mass of decomposing detritus. The taxi driver refused to take it and I had to walk home anyway.

I wasn't too familiar with Faces, but knew Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood had some sort of connection, so this makes sense now. The album was alright, bit dated and lacked consistency (of the band's "identity"), it was either "this is a Rod Stewart song" or not. Stay With Me is a good old sing-along.

my one and only fun fact relating to this album: one day back in the early 00's, out of nowhere rod stewart followed me on twitter. i have no idea why, but when i checked a good while later, he was still following. apart from that, the only experience i have with rod stewart is distinctly not liking his music. so this has been fun. on the other hand, i have a thing for covers - and i have always loved the song memphis, which i knew via johnny rivers (see: https://open.spotify.com/track/5QqdnAVnNCfWp9CZ3pi5a0). the original is, of course, also fantastic: https://open.spotify.com/track/3UYtylPa55RqHS1YDGZoLs and...ok, fine, the guitar tone on that's all you need is pretty damn nice. i am a sucker that growly slide thing, and homey rips it up on that track but i still don't like rod stewart, dammit.

Album caratterizzato dalle sonorità rock "classiche" che si sposano bene con la voce quasi gracchiante di Rod Stewart. La mia preferita è 'Miss Judy farm' e trovo molto simpatica, anche nel testo, 'Memphis'. Al contrario 'Last orders please' mi sembra fuori contesto. In generale molto godibile, anche se forse non memorabile.
Fine for what it is but could not get past two songs. Just not my cup of tea. Very 70's style white people rock.
Pretty fun bluesy rock album. Unfortunately I immediately compared it to Led Zeppelin in my brain and it just doesn’t hold up to that comparison. 3/5

I had an epiphany last year, listening to Every Picture Tells a Story for the first time: Rob Stewart was actually great, and EPTAS is a masterclass. So, I'm delighted that A Nod... is The Faces in exactly the same groove as EPTAS. What I wanted was more of the same, and it seems The Faces were in accord. Of course, saying one album sounds like another doesn't really say anything much. So, this album is a laid-back, rocking, laddish, boozy, bluesy, rogueish yet softhearted paean to both the raucous Saturday night and the dog-rough Sunday morning. Just don't think of The Stereophonics and you'll love it all.

This album was right up my alley. The blues-rock genre is already something I really enjoy, so this fit right in. The production of the album overall felt very genuine and laid back. I'd point specifically to the track Too Bad as a good example of this. Every instrument has it's place and each stands out so clearly that I feel like I'm hanging out in the room with the band playing around me. I was also pleasantly surprised by the clarity and grit of Rod's vocals. Overall a fun listen and a band that I'm curious to hear more of. and I was pleasantly surprised by the grit of Rob Stewart's vocals.

I was not at all familiar with this band. It's good stuff. Reminds me of classic Aerosmith, but a lot groovier. I'm going to dig into this band a little bit more. I like what I've heard.

This album rocked my absolute shit and made me into a fan of Rod Stewart, a feat heretofore deemed impossible.
Old-school rock'n'roll, liked the hard panning. The problem is I don't like rock'n'roll.

The funny thing about The Faces is that I do not like Rod Stewart...as a solo artist. Most if not all of his solo stuff just rubs me the wrong way. However, I like everything I've ever heard from the Faces. That, to me, shows the power of a band. A band is not its front man. He's the voice of the band, but all the components elevate the music to something great. This is also the vibe and fun I needed after Alice in Chains. "Memphis" is an example of a worthwhile cover. They give homage to one of their influences and role models, but they also make the song their own. Ronnie Wood's Rolling Stones sound is on full display on "Too Bad." I'm so close to a 5/5 on this one. All comes down to the last track. "That's All You Need" is like Rolling Stones meets Van Halen, and that's a good thing. This is a solid album worth regular listening, and I will definitely seek out live filmed performances of these songs. They'd be fun to watch.

3rd September 2021 Listened on my phone, had my first class at Nuffield and went to see Tim key in the evening with woody. Sounds like Ross Stewart is having a blast.
I really don't understand this list. I feel like the authors haven't done a very good job of living up to the title they chose. Why must I hear these boring-ass Rod Stewart albums that keep getting generated before I die? For every one of these bland, forgettable snoozefests, they could have populated the list with more cutting edge jazz, fascinating avant garde, challenging heavy music, or statement-laden singer-songwriter pieces. This is music for your aunt. It sounds the an ashtray full of Parliament light cigarette butts smells. This album has no legacy, it has influenced nothing noteworthy. It's stale white bread in a cabinet that smells faintly of mildew and is lined with a tacky layer of faded orange and green plastic sheeting. This is an album that was meant to take up space at a Goodwill or a Salvation Army in between Barry Manilow and a six volume Christian music box set that's missing two records and the vinyl is warped. Once you have heard Neu! you never have to hear this album. It offers nothing. Throw in that punch bowl, tupperware, and Garfield mug you found a few aisles over and maybe you'll break $5.
I was a groomsman in a wedding where a song by Faces was played as we walked down the aisle. That's the first time I heard Faces and Rod Stewart's rockier side. It's great. Love it. He's such a great singer. This record is cool but listening while working it just sort of blends together. Nothing stands out. But it's excellent.
I feel dumb that Ive never heard of this all-star band, but I’m glad I know about them now. Solid album - like discovering each of these guys again.
Putting the roll in rock n roll, these guys sound they had a blast rolling through these tracks. A fun album that could’ve easily been recorded at a party for how fun it sounds.

Man I really dig this album. I’ve always loved Rod Stewart, and have heard some of Faces more popular work, but to dig into their deeper cannon feels pretty cool. I really enjoyed this album.

Non ho faticato ad ascoltarlo e mi ha divertito. Ma allo stesso tempo non mi ha conquistato del tutto a causa dei limiti dovuti agli standard di quei tempi. Opinione personale: a me non piace troppo come viene suonato il piano in quest'album, ovviamente non saprei fare di meglio ma se immagino lo stesso album suonato oggi in una chiave un po' più Stoner sicuramente mi sarebbe piaciuto di più.
Parliamoci chiaro, che gli puoi dire a un gruppo che negli anni 70 faceva marimba punk rock? Questo gruppo è stata una piacevolissima scoperta! Nonostante sia un gruppo rock '70 a tratti suona come un gruppo dei giorni nostri che si ispira ad un gruppo rock '70. Certe influenze mezze punk sarebbero forse audaci pure oggi, il cantato è molto sfizioso e ci sono dei pezzi che sembra quasi un graffiato mezzo hardcore, le chitarre sono davvero creative e raffinate e gli intrecci pure con il piano elettrico sono davvero notevoli. Non metto cinque solo perché purtroppo l'album nel complesso soffre un po' del problema dell'epoca, non c'è molto una visione di insieme ed è un po' una raccolta di pezzi, alcuni che magari ravvicinati risultano simili. Comunque bello!
Ad oggi questo disco suona un pò come un ottimo gruppo da pub, ovviamente a 50 anni di distanza l'effetto non può essere lo stesso di quando è uscito e pochi pezzi stupiscono e sorprendono. Generalmente è anche divertente ma per me è un 3 abbastanza scarso.
'Stay With Me' had me moving, but other than that, the album felt rather bland. Good for some background listening.

LOVE this folksy rock-n-roll vibe. Super duper super into it. Had an “omg” moment when Stay With Me came on and I realized I knew the band. Had another one when I went to the bands page and realized I’ve previously favorited some of their songs on Spotify. And then another one when I realized it was Rod Stewart as the front man 😂 duhhhhhhhh Kelsey.

Rod Stewart's band? 1. I love how this starts. Great chugging distorted guitar and bass---sick tone. Honestly went a little bit downhill when Rod's voice came in though. 2. Feel-good song. Sounds familiar (but I don't think I've heard it before) 3. Ballad. I actually like Rod's voice here. Some nice organ, a fun riff. Chord changes are meh. 4. Honky tonk. 5. Famous song: Stay With Me. Fits here. It is a highlight. 6. Another ballad. Sounds like Wild Horses. 7. More honky tonk, but better. 8. Upbeat. Familiar sound. Pretty ok. But the piano jam at the end is kind of fun. 9. Nice guitar tone---sounds like ACDC at the beginning. Once it gets going though, it sort of sounds like they're confused about the song's key? Nice guitar solo in the middle, sounds like Jimmy Page. Woah---steel drums??? This is actually probably my favorite song on the album because it's so weird... Not really sure if it's actually good haha. Score: 3. good, solid effort.

Глянул, чем альбом вообще примечателен должен быть, пишут, мол типа для своего времени вообще панк дохуя, смелые идеи, яркие решения. Sex Pistols мол респектовали, батями признавали. Ну вот у нас есть уже Sex Pistols, важно ли знать корни? Важно ли глядеть на груду кирпичей, когда построен пиздатый дом? Да не очень. Не, ну если груда кирпичей там как-то по дизайну, по fengshui пиздато разложена - то можно глянуть. Развалена ли пиздато куча кирпичей под названием A Nod Is As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse? Да не сказал бы. Складно, симпатично, кто любит груды кирпичей - зайдёт. Но всё же рассматриваю список как совокупность альбомов, от которых можно кайфануть вне рамок собственных предпочтений. А тут тупо скучно. А я заебался уже понятным и скучным альбомам тройки ебенить. Кто-то может подумать, что вообще заебался, ибо рецухи просрочиваю, но не, Я ЗАНЯ-Я-ЯТ, У МЕНЯ ДЕЛА-А, У МЕНЯ БАТЛ С БИГ БРЕ-ЕЙНОМ.

This album reminded me how different recoding styles have changed over the years. How looping and re-recording vocals wasn’t a thing because you basically had one take. And a lot of the time, the instruments were in the booth with you when they were being recorded

A cracking wee album, focused and tight. The guitars sounds fantastic, Rods voice is, we’ll Rods voice and some really good songs on here. Not sure there are any really ‘great’ tracks and couple of duds on here too so it s 3 for me

Wow, not familiar with Faces. Didn't realize this was Rockin' Rod. The initial impression is great bluesy rock. Definitely some similarity to the Doors. I like it. It will be interesting to see if all the tracks are like this.

So far four songs in. It’s... ok. Definitely not bad. But not mind blowing yet. Surprised how rod stewart only sounds like what I think of rod Stewart occasionally. Ok “stay with me” is pretty solid. I think I’ve heard it before. But yea cool song. “Debris” is pretty cool. Maybe the second half of the album picks up. The vibe I’m getting from a lot of this album: if I was still going through my classic rock phase or if I was around when this first came out, it would be a very top notch album. But I think I’m just kinda “over” classic rock a little. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great genre, but it now takes a lot to blow me away within the genre. Pretty dope slide guitar on the last track though.
Rod's early stuff just doesn’t hold a candle to Do Ya Think I’m Sexy. lol What a great band. While Rod eventually descended to great heights, every one of the other musicians and the producer ended up playing, and in Ronnie Lane’s case co-writing, with either the Stones or the Who. That says all that's needed about the quality of these musicians.

Another album that I would never be exposed to were it not for this website. I think the songs that Rod sings on are vastly superior to the ones featuring Ronnie Lane. Stay with me is most definitely the killer track here with a raucous bluesy guitars and piano.
This made perfectly palatable background listening for me as I sorted out my financial affairs today!

I hadn't heard of this band before (at least I don't think so) but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Rod Stewart's voice in the opening song. I don't know that this album rocked my world but it was definitely easy enough to listen to.

Eh, not massively my thing, but it grew on me as it went on. Fave track - "Memphis, Tennessee" - this song sounds like the template Elvis Costello mutated into the manic kaleidoscopic "Tokyo Storm Warning", which has long been a personal fave...
A little samey at times but some fun riffs and nice vocal performances by Rod Stewart and Ronnie Lane. 6/10

These are fun songs. This is a nice way to listen to Rod Stewart, because although I like him, I tire of his voice but with Ronnie Wood alternating on lead vocals throughout the album, it creates a nice balance.

Flitted between 2 and 3 in my brain for most of the album. I suppose it would be 2.5 if there was such a thing. In the end Stay With Me, Debris and Thats All You Need made me go for 3. I do wish Ronnie Lane sang more than Rod though.
