I hate this.

The music starts. Björk comes in. She’s in a completely different key. Great. It’s another dissonant album. Although less whale-like than her later album, the style of singing in her debut album sets the tone for the whiny sound her music takes. Not for me.

The singles are catchy and Björk has some voice, but I found this generally fairly bland. It feels like she is holding back.

Probably only popular because of her mysterious Icelandic elven allure.

God this was a hard listen... The beats are fun and then Björk starts to sing..."There's More to Life Than This" was fine except for that weird part in the middle...wtf was that. This was tough. "Crying" also had some solid beats. "Aeroplane" was actually horrible and why was "The Anchor Song" included? Fuckin terrible. I was waiting for this album to end. I hate rating albums so low since "Dub Housing" but there was literally not a single song here that I added or marked to listen to again... I think "Violently Happy" was my "favorite" song? The beat was cool and the vocals weren't horrible. What was that intro tho?

This gave me a better understanding of one of the characters in the show Sense8. Not my groove though.

Bjork appeals to someone, and I have heard enough to know that I am not that someone. Just a little too quirky and out there for my tastes. That said I know she has had a profound influence on a lot of indie and electronic groups. But, I just can't seem to get into her music.

This was not my cup of tea. There were a couple songs that I really enjoyed, where the production felt like a clear precursor to what is now EDM, and her voice layered smoothly on top of it while maintaining a certain sharpness. Through the rest of the album, the production seemed disjointed at best, lacking melody and not finding pleasant rhythms. The vocal sharpness that gave necessary punch to the few enjoyable tracks was grating elsewhere. 2 / 10

It's so late 80s/early 90s sounding. It's so jangly. Not a fan. I couldn't say I enjoyed one song.

I like the part where it sounds like she corners you at a party and starts speaking tongues. There's absolutely no question what decade this album came from. It sounds like the music at a rave in a Sci-Fi movie. Like a classy rave for the elites in society. I really enjoyed the first track but they're all basically the same. I actually really like her voice.

i like her taste in samples, for the most part, but really dislike literally every other part.

This is like the third album i heard (this one being more acceptable than the others) This feels like if that eccentric colleague who say that they are a great singer and when you hear it you internally go "for the love of god make her stop" got a music carrier. sometimes you hear her voice clear to then jump to a shrieking dissonant note,then to a monotone and finally to a random screaming note. I don't get Björk. it feels like it's one of those artist that live of the "You just aren't an art critic, like me"-people. To me this just sounds like "Weird for Weird's sake". Instrumentations are okey to pretty decent just drop the vocals and it would be fine.

Human Behavior - I like the instrumentals, but the way she sings it... I just can't stand it. It doesn't fit AT ALL Crying - it's better bc of the outro, but no lyrical content and forgettable. The instrumentals are okay. I don't like how she sings it. It's so unpredictable and off beat. Venus As A Boy - Doesn't stand out for me. I hate the glass falling sound, but I like the violins There's More To Life Than This - I have never heard a song like this. It's kinda fun Like Someone In Love - So boring. Big Time Sensuality - I love the beat, but she ruins it. It's just like she tried to sing this all in one take wihtout hearing it back to see if it actually sounded good. One Day - this is alright. Stands out for me. Aeroplane - her voice gets me so mad. She's singing in cursive and decides to scream at the most random moments. Come To Me - I like this, cuz her voice sounds nice on this song. it feels a bit like a fairytale Violently Happy - I loved when the beat came in. It's a little bit boring, but I like it. The Anchor Song - boring, atleast her vocals were a little bit better. Overal thought: Such a shame that you have such nice beats and instrumentals and that you sing over them so badly. Not for me. It's funny that I said on the album 'the score' that they could sing with a bit more emotion. This is the exact opposite: please sing with a little LESS emotion. Debating If I should give this a 1 or 2, because towards the end there were a couple songs that I didn't find terrible, but I think I'm staying at a 1 for now. Ranking: 1/5

Holy shit a 5th Bjõrk?! The music is garbage. Stay away. Burn it down. It is definitely a 90s album but not a good one. It is better than some of her other albums that made the list, but that's about it. No need to listen.

Thank God that's over! What a dumpster fire of musical styles and genres that album was. Bjork can't maintain one specific genre throughout the entirety of this album. She goes from jazz to house to electro pop to art pop, and usually switches multiple times per song. You just start to settle in for a pleasing listen to a song and BAM... You're headed off in a completely different direction. The one thing that was good about this album is Bjork's voice, but most of the time I have no fucking idea what she's even saying. Overall, this album was a train wreck. I struggled to get through the album. The house/electronica numbers were leaps and bounds better than anything else on the album. That is because at least those songs had a pulse. For fuck sakes, call this album dead in the water and move on. I won't be listening again, and I'm not looking forward to the other album Bjork has on this generator. Personally, I feel it a disservice that she gets 2 albums on this generator, and an absolute legend such as Harry Belafonte gets none. This generator is definately skewed towards bullshit European bands that no one cares about. Favourite songs: Play Dead... I guess?!? Least favourite songs: Like Someone In Love, Human Behaviour... And the rest of the album... What garbage 1/5

So the first two songs I actually liked and I actually thought maybe a 2 star or even 3 stars at that point, but then the Bjorkinish arose and just kept spiraling out of control, couple that with lame ass electronic music that sounds like it was composed on a Commodore 64. For the love of god please be the last of her albums!

God, please, no more Bjork. Her voice is the musical equivalent of a vocal fry. It's so unlistenable that I seriously, at times, question my sanity as to why ANYONE likes her. Like, can you not hear how god awful her singing is. Doesn't it pierce your skull to the point that you want to gouge your ears out because the blood dripping from your ears would be a more pleasant experience than having to listen to her alternate between warbling and shrieking? Please tell me this is the last Bjork album on the list.

Only Bjork album I liked was Volta. I can’t really stomach a full bjork album lol. This a no for me.

I just can't do Björk. I do not get how this album has a 3.42 star global rating. I hate all things electronica and Dimery's fascination with the genre constantly frustrates me. Her voice just annoys me and it isn't even bolstered by that impactful of lyrics. The shrieking just makes me want to turn it off the entire time. The vocals are horrendous and the music is just as mediocre barring a couple small shining moments. This just fits what I need for an album to get a 1 star rating. I wanted to turn it off the entire time. I was tempted to bump it up to a 2 for the importance, but I just can't betray the pain my ears went through for the last 48 and a half minutes.

Sometimes pretty cool and other times sounds like a 5-years old was giving an old casio synthesizer to do some random stuff on, was really hoping it would finish after the first song but unfortunately got more songs after that
