Reviews (page 8 of 13)

Oh, yes!

This is just glorious, can't believe its just 42 minutes long. what an amazing record. Stone Cold Classic.

Outstanding.

Perfect

classic

Do I need to say anything?

my fav led zeppelin album. so good. 10/10

There should be extra stars for this

Certified classic. everything just hits so hard! nothing like Led Zeppelin

Capolavoro.

Legendarisch

Have to admit, I had a set of completely different (and not very flattering) notes on this record written in a disgruntled drunken state. I guess I wasn’t really in the mood for more Zeppelin. But that’s why listening to these albums more than once is so important. This record is a masterpiece. Everything I enjoyed about Zeppelin III is here and more - Sandy Denny’s angelic voice, some of the best drum production ever recorded. This is a classic LP in every respect. Believe the hype.

did it

This should be on the 5 albums to listen to before you die list. It epitomized rock and roll. One of the greatest albums ever recorded.

Espectacular discazo de rock setentero con auténticos himnos. Banda muy bien conjuntada con una guitarra rítmica acompañada de una excelente voz y de una batería espectacular

5/5. Classic. One of the best albums ever!

Tremendous

Absolute classic with the band at its best

Classic rock

There's no way this album doesn't get 5 stars. It really displays peak led zeppelin with banger riffs and solid songs everywhere. Black dog and rock and roll are classic rock songs that don't sound too special today but were really pioneered by Zeppelin and others of the time. The battle of evermore is such a curious and interesting song, nice instruments and very melodic ambiance. There's nothing to say about stairway to heaven, it's the embodiment of progressive rock and great solo. Misty mountain hop is just a banger in a weird way. Four sticks is sometimes a bit on the repetitive side but still shows some very creative instrumentality. Going to California has a huge place in my heart, how not to feel melancholic and to look back in life while listening to it? Then it ends with when the levee breaks, also a banger with such an interesting ambiance and instrumentation. 10/10, 6/6, 20/20, 7/5

Album de fou malade, litterally every song is a banger, and the greatest Stairway to Heaven as well. The guitars, voices, drums, everything is on point and fit perfectly.

The album is very very good!!! Each song has its very own incredible harmony and enjoyable on its own!!! I could not even pick a favorite song on a first listening.... I was still left with something missing at the middle and end of the album so I will say big 4.5/5

The best Led-Zep album. Stone-cold classic.

Man, this album kicks ass. When Misty Mountain Hop is the worst song on here, you know it’s good. Not my absolute favorite Zep, but it’s up there. RIP Sandy Denny

The only album where I have every song on my favorites. This is my 5th LZ review, I'd just be repeating myself over and over. Four talented musicians banding together, doing what they do best. It's hard to find a better guitarist, or a better bassist, or a better drummer, or such a dynamic and expressive vocalist as Robert Plant. Confident in their sound, they're able to masterfully combine all sorts of genres, and in the first 3 tracks alone we get metal, blues, folk, and garage. 4 completely distinct genres meshed with rock yet coherent and full of distinct personality you could only identify such sounds with these guys. Every song feels complete yet never overstaying its welcome, whether it's 3.5 minutes or 8. Can't even list my favorites cause it would be insulting to the ones I leave out.

Have I heard Stairway to Heaven enough for one lifetime? Yes. Is it still a mind-blowingly epic song? Also yes. Going beyond Stairway though, this is an incredible album, and it's not even my favorite Led Zeppelin album. I love how it starts out with a couple of basic (but still great) rock songs and then suddenly The Battle of Evermore comes on and you're like, what's this? Then you've got Stairway, which must have totally blown everyone's minds when first hearing it back in the day, and back to some basic (but still great) rock with Misty Mountain Hop. Four Sticks is maybe the low point of the album but still an interesting song. Going to California is just sublime and then closing with some classic blues done Zeppelin style with some amazing drumming by Bonzo. The whole package is just outstanding. 5 stars.

This was a very good album, I only knew the song Stairway to Heaven. I always liked it, so I’m glad I got to listen to more of his songs.

Stairway to Heaven

Love this album, was one of the first I listened to end to end

Black Dog is a song with a lot of history for me. The roots of so much rock that was to follow is here in this album. Rock and Roll is like the proto sound of southern rock and alternative at the same time. Battle Of Evermore is the perfect lead into Stairway. Stairway is pinnacle of Zepplin and that is so strange to think about. Misty Mountain Hop is arguably the worst Zepplin song the band ever made. When The Levee Breaks is the sound of hip hop.

Listened to them so much growing up… probably the most played band on classic rock station growing up, 106.5 WSFL, with daily “Get the Led Out” time. Side B is probably a 4.5, but Side A is an 11. Seriously, Is this the best A side of an Album ever? Love an album that comes flying out of the gate… with probably by favorite Led Zeppelin song. But then still has some softer moments, without losing momentum.. It just plays like an album where people Knew exactly what they wanted to do and did that exact thing.

I never need to hear "Black Dog" or "Rock and Roll" ever again (Stairway to Heaven never gets old for me). Despite that, it's undeniable Led Zepplin was at the top of their game with IV. I think I recall reading they were the biggest band in the world when it was released. My parents owned this record and it was the first Led Zeppelin album I ever listened to. I went on to discover efforts I liked better, but IV remains a incredible album.

Who dat?... kidding. Can't begin to express how massive of a Led Zep fan I was in high school. This isn't my fav album of theirs though. Hit me up if yo want to discuss!

Amazing classic album

Bonham's drumming deserves 5 stars every time

5 for 4; probably their best

I mean, yeah, this album was so overplayed by 1991 it was the butt of probably the best joke in Wayne's World. But it's fuckin' Led Zepplin IV. What are you gonna do? If you heard this album for the first time today, you'd still be like "okay, that's a different level." Unless you'd already been a fan of Greta Van Fleet, maybe.

Led Zep were a band who could amaze, confound and frustrate in equal measure. They were plaigiarists, not once but many times over, as the internet age has shown. LZIV stands proud of all this as their most fully realised collection of songs. We get the gamut - the Tolkien stuff, tight-trousered priapism, blues, proto-metal and folk. It sounds great, John Bonham is less plays the drums than attempts to knock seven shades out of them, and Robert Plant sounds so slinky and committed that you forget he's singing utter nonsense half the time. This is the big one, fellas.

Not a whole lot for me to say here except this: somehow, impossibly so, this album gets the balance of acoustic and electric rock 100% perfectly right. That's harder than it seems and if you don't believe me, then have I got a Foo Fighters album for you! (It's "In Your Honor." Disc 2. The one that's entirely acoustic/softer rock. Try it if you dare.) I think it's because Zep can do more than one style of acoustic rock, so that when they slow things down on this album it still feels moody and heavy enough that it just *feels* like hard rock even when it ain't rockin' hard. 8 songs, 43 minutes, and all of them are good. Just hard to find fault in that equation.

Upea levy, upeat soittajat

best zepplin

ну это что вообще такое? это 10/5 я к ним долго подступиться не могла, а тут вон что да как никакого конструктива, этот звук — ЧТО они делают!!!

когда звучит stairway to heaven, я на восемь минут и три секунды попадаю to heaven

Okay sure

Is it their best ever? Is it the best rock album ever? Is it the best album ever? It’s really good.

Stairway to heaven hits you in the feels

4th album I own and second huge album in a row? I know it and you know it: IV is an unimpeachable, amazing 5 star album. I get really tired of “Black Dog” and “Rock and Roll” because they get ridiculously overplayed on the radio (these songs do nothing for me anymore), but songs like “Going to California”, “Misty Mountain Hop” and even “Stairway” get better with age. I don’t think this is Zep’s best, but that’s a story for another day.

This was the first LZ album I listened to, as a 15 year old working in a water park. All the stoner guys I worked with insisted I give it a spin and it ended up being something I returned to over and over. Lots of breadth, skill, and fun on this one. Essential listening for any classic and hard rock fan.

Let the led out. \m/

Perfect

No notes needed.

Rock achieved perfection in 1971. Thanks Led Zeppelin.

My fave album of Zep. Clean, powerful chords and crushing, hypnotic drumming with a newer, more mystical take on blues standards.

Fucking classic, love it.

I've seen a lot of hedgerows but I've never found a bustle in one. Clearly one of the most classic albums of all time

Muy bueno

Outstanding!

Masterpiece!

The best Zeppelin album? Maybe but its a 5 nevertheless

Such a banger

Classic

Iconic. There's not much to say and it's been overplayed so maybe doesn't have an impact on playing. Nevertheless it's very assured, musically proficient and well produced so can't be knocked on that front. Maybe if you don't like 70's rock?

I don't claim any cred when it comes to Led Zeppelin. I probably avoided them deliberately all my life as a reaction to rock snobs. (I think being a music fan should be more about joy and fun than a taste contest.) In doing so, however, I've missed out on some real enjoyment. So, in my naïveté, I quickly realized that this is my favorite of the Led Zeppelin albums I've listened to. And to compound my sins, my appreciation for "Stairway to Heaven" has only grown and I would happily declare it my favorite Led Zeppelin song of all. What can I say, I've not worn it out over the decades, and it brings me joy. But I also grew an appreciation for the rest of this album, honestly enjoying every track, Side 1 and Side 2. It's all great to me. (Truth be told, I am especially fond of the folky tracks, "The Battle of Evermore" (with Sandy Denny!) and "Going to California.") This album was my real "I get it" moment. Maybe I'm still a novice, but I get it now, as long as I can just like what I like.

I can't think of anything particularly clever or interesting to say. Quite simply, I very much enjoy this album.

This is musical greatness from start to finish. Especially the finish --- Going to California and When the Levee Breaks are a one-two punch to my guts I love them so much. This album is a gift.

This is the one Led Zeppelin album I had access to in my childhood, so I am familiar with this album from the mid-seventies. Back then most of this album wasn’t really in a pre-teen’s wheelhouse, but “Rock and Roll” got regular play on my plastic kids record player. In the early 2000s, I revisited this album as an adult and that’s when it clicked. There’s a reason why this album is so esteemed and I got it. I really loved the variety on this album… and fell in love with most of the songs that had not connected with me as a kid. Listening to it today I marvel at the quality and variety of songs on the album. I still got that special place in my heart for “Rock and Roll.” Only now the rest of the album has found room there as well.

listened to again possibly one of the greatest albums ever made

"I mean, come on." ~ Jimmy Valmer Arguably the greatest album ever written (not the greatest in my opinion but it's damn close). Every song a banger. Every song an all-time classic. Every. Last. Song. And some aren't just all-time classics, they rise to the top of a list of all-time classics. Black Dog, Rock & Roll, Going to Cali, Misty Mountain, Evermore. And arguably the greatest rock song ever written. All on the same album. Every song continuing to get daily radio airplay. "Wooo! Hot damn, son! I believe you did sell your soul to the devil." ~ Ulysses Everett McGill

Geweldig album, absolute klasieker

Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgivings. (A big 4.5)

5/5 Led Zeppelin at their best. The album starts of slamming and has great breathing moments through out it. Peaks and valleys in a good way. I could go through the tracks but It can speak for itself.

One of the best albums of all times. Brilliant

Listened to on 8/1/22 5/5 Favorite song: stairway to heaven, black dog I love Led Zepplin and this album was a bop from start to finish

One of the greatest rock albums of all time. Favorite songs are Black Dog and Stairway if I HAD to narrow it to two.

My favorite Zeppelin album and one of the best albums of all time.

C’est ben difficile d’être contre ça.

Un classique sans besoin de plus de précisions. L’album le plus important du groupe.

A classic

When I think of Led Zeppelin this is THE album I think of!

one of the BEST ALBUMS that has ever graced my ears. 10/10 will be listening for years to come.

People will continue to debate what the best Led Zeppelin album is. I put my money on this album, though I do understand the case for most of their others as well. "Black Dog" is a beautiful way to open an album and it became an all time classic. "Rock and Roll" is a good track, though not my favorite. "The Battle of Evermore" I feel is an underrated track on this album, understandable why with the rest of the songs on here that it just doesn't quite hold up to. And then of course we have one of the top 5 greatest songs of all time on anybody's list. "Stairway to Heaven" is a masterpiece of a song. It alone could put this album at a 4 in the midst of bad songs, though obviously that is not the case. The only qualm I have is that it got so popular that it became the forbidden riff in guitar stores. "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks" are the two weakest tracks on the album and I don't have much to say about them. But "Going to California" is my favorite Led Zeppelin song and I could listen to it on repeat for days and not get tired. It is amazing how it balances sad and hopeful in such a beautiful and effortless way. "When the Levee Breaks" is tonally different than the rest of the album, but is such a powerful song. It is also a masterclass in recording a cover song. This is an amazing album! It is an all time classic and one of the greatest albums of all time. I knew from the second it came up on my homepage that it was going to end up being a 5 star album!

would probably go IV stars but Stairway to Heaven gives it that extra I

Solid solid music from beginning to end! I especially liked Going to California

Black Dog and Stairway are obviously amazing songs but this entire album keeps pace with them. I have no criticisms. 10 out of 5 stars.

I’m sure there are people out there who think Led Zeppelin is overrated or mediocre but those people are wrong. Not one song is bad and comprehensively it’s brilliant. John Bonham’s drums are iconic as always.

High quality and unique rock and roll. I think only one song wasn't great, still 5 stars.

-"Black Dog" kicks in with the famous vocal intro and a killer riff -"Rock and Roll" is a ripping rock classic -"The Battle Of Evermore" is a little slow in my opinion -I know "Stairway to Heaven" is like the most perfect rock song of all time, but I just don't get it. The build just doesn't pay off for me. The buildup is like 4 minutes for it to just be a jam that I would say is weaker than "Black Dog" or "Rock and Roll." It's not terrible or anything, but just too slow of a build and not enough payoff for it to be praised to the level it is, in my opinion -"Misty Mountain Hop" is fun, and the vocal rhythms are catchy and interesting -"Four Sticks" and "When the Levee Breaks" were strong -Overall great rock album, both only 2 or 3 tracks kinda slacking in my opinion. Some of the most classic classic rock songs are "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll"

This is the definition of a 5 star album. One incredible song after another. I gave it short shrift because of how overplayed Stairway is .... and was during the 70s. But there is no denying the song's greatness. The other real classic is; in the same epic sense When The Levee Breaks. Just a fantastic with so many wonderful, musical twists and turns to let it sound fresh and new and interesting with every listen.

The one of the first and foremost, children of the blues. Incredible tracks and rock-hymns. (9/10) FT: Stairway To Heaven, When The Levee Breaks, Black Dog

Easy 5, and this one ruined the curve.

A classic piece of rock and roll fantasy. Love it.

Awesome album. Unfortunately no new discoveries for me here but that’s just because I knew them all already.

There are times I have listened to this and thought it was the perfect album. LZ were problematic for a lot of their stealing and sampling, but the talent is incredible.

Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, and When the Levee Breaks, all on a single album - does anything else need to be said? There are three other tracks on here - two of them are odes to Lord of the Rings in classic Zeppelin fashion ('The Battle of Evermore' and 'Misty Mountain Hop') and are well worth a listen. 'Four Sticks' is the other, and while it does feel a bit out of place in relation to the legendary rock classics elsewhere on this album, it's by no means a BAD song. So yeah, this album is incredible. It has stood the test of time for very good reason - it's f'in brilliant. It holds a very important place in the annals of rock history. Easy 5 stars.

Endless amount said about this album. It does it job well

My assumed position is Led Zep 3 is the best but the first 3 tracks here, you know, you've got to question it. Absolutely love the Battle for Evermore. And I mean I like the lord of the rings and everything but if anything that takes away rather than adds from it, I just love it as a thing. Never particularly understood the obsession Stairway to Heaven gets. Also don't recognise it in anything Wayne plays in the guitar shop. But hey it's a good song. Misty is loads of fun. Going to California, oh my heart. Yeah, at When the Levee Breaks and it's confirmed. Stairway is the only song on this album I don't absolutely love.

My all time favourite. Absolutely brilliant!!

Created and then broke the model by which all classic rock is measured. An essential album.

Masterpiece

Great one

All time classic

An easy 5. Such a great album with every track a winner. Stairway to Heaven isn't even the standout track with The Battle for Everymore and Misty Mountain Hop at the top of my list.

This is considered the quintessential Led Zeppelin album. Not only does it contain one of the best known songs of the 70's, but it's also their most consistent record. It's been a while since I listened to IV in it's entirety and I almost forgot how many classic songs are on here. This should be the starting place to discover Zep, then work your way back (I, II, III) to the beginning, they're all essential!

Fantastic Album from start to finish!

Oh man, where to begin. Spinning this album from my dad's collection was other-worldly. Opened my eyes to the bluesy rock of Led Zeppelin. I must have listened to this warped and scratched LP about 50 times in my youth. It was a different sound that I had never heard before. For a few years of my life in the late 90s, there was no other band better, but at the same time, more mysterious, than Led Zeppelin. This is easily my favorite album of theirs. When The Levee Breaks is one of my all-time favorite songs and possibly one of the best outro/Side B songs of any album ever. Stairway to Heaven is probably the greatest rock and roll song ever etched onto vinyl. Every song on this album brings back such amazing memories of discovering all of the great classic rock of the generation before me.

Obviously great

This is perhaps the greatest hard rock album of all time. It shows Led Zeppelin at their most accessible and their best in terms of songwriting and arrangement. Many of these songs are still radio mainstays and their influence on the genre cannot be overstated.

Absolutely legendary

The big, celebrated LP, but I can't decide if it is better than Led Zeppelin II. Certainly such familiarity with all eight songs pushes IV up in the ratings. It is accomplished in the styles it sets out to cover. Equally good, I think.

Awesome album

Good googly moogly this is an awesome one. All the tracks except for Four Sticks were fantastic on first listen and I'm hoping that one still grows on me (although I had heard most of them before anyways, I guess). Loved the mix of sounds and themes on this. On top of that, the singing is incredible and the instrument work is top notch as well. 9/10

Si este no es vinilo, ninguno lo es.

One of my favourite albums of all time. When Stairway started I stopped working and let the music flow through my brain.

Masterpiece.

This album Fucks. I will not elaborate further.

A classic album ! Every track a good ‘un ! Just to stop being average I’m awarding 5* !

Classic.

Awesome awesome awesome. definition of rock for me tbh

classic. when the levee breaks is soooooo good

Not actually my personal fav Zeppelin album but brilliant nonetheless. Going to California always makes me cry

Huh, that's weird. I didn't know this band had a fourth album.... Just kidding. My son discovered this album a few months ago and has been playing it nonstop. He has great taste. Someone asked me a while ago what is Zeppelin's best album, and it obviously has to be this one. Yes, it's overplayed. But there's a reason for that. It's because the songs themselves hold up so well. There are very few albums that radio stations will play any track from, I think I can count them on one hand: Who's Next, Dark Side Of The Moon and this one. Even "Stairway" as many billions of times I have heard it is still a great song. It just doesn't get old. I vacillate as to what is my favorite song, and right now it's "When The Levee Breaks." Ask me next week and it will be something else. Just a great, great album.

Too easy. A cover to cover beauty. It must have been both satisfying and frustrating for Led Zeppelin to release this album after getting panned for III to say "ya happy now?" I'm not sure Four Sticks gets enough credit for being every bit as good and rocking as Black Dog or Rock and Roll. When the Levee Breaks is also just as good a sweeping epic as Stairway to Heaven. I was explaining to my kids yesterday how Whole Lotta Love is actually a reinterpretation of an old blues song and that LZ has done that a few times to great effect. When the Levee Breaks was their best of that. This album just has so much in your face rock yet also has some incredible softer or acoustic pieces. Again, too easy.

A perfect album. Black Dog and Rock and Roll start it off rocking with everyone in top form. Plant has a great duet with Sandy Denny on the Battle of Evermore, but it's probably my least favorite song on the album. Not that it's bad - as I said, it's a perfect album. Stairway to Heaven is a perfect song, start to finish. Any time I hear it, I have to listen all the way through. The opening riff (which sounds nothing like Spirit's Taurus), the verses as the song builds and builds, that guitar solo - one of the greatest ever - and the powerful ending. Yes, it's overplayed, but for good reason. Misty Mountain Hop - another great rocker, with awesome harmonies. Four Sticks has a great unusual riff and time signature, with amazing drumming. RIP Bonzo. Going to California calms things down...great guitar and mandolin parts and fantastic vocals from Robert Plant (like all of the album). Finally, When the Levee Breaks: possibly the greatest opening drum line of any song ever, followed by a massively cool riff and bass line, harmonica, slide guitar, and moaning wails. Bottom line - this is one of the greatest bands of all time at their peak. Can I score it higher than 5?

Like swallowing a deep zen pill, takes you to a very good place. Love the integration of harmonica and mandolin to complement the other sounds. Bonham my favourite drummer.

What can I say about this one that hasn't already been said? It is a legendary album that absolutely deserves that status.

Really great when in the soft spots. The big songs are of course good, but I actually enjoyed Going to California most.

Excelente! Melhor música> Stairway to Heaven

It's Led Zeppelin IV. What more do you fucking want? Best Tracks: Black Dog; Stairway to Heaven; When The Levee Breaks

Great album, some real classics on this one. Standout tracks: Black Dog Going to California When the Levee Breaks Some deep-cut song I got kicked out of Guitar Center for playing

Gran disco! No entenderé porque Stairway to heaven es la más conocida de Zeppellin cuando no es la mejor.

4.5/5 one of the best albums ever.

I think my favorite LZ album is Houses of the Holy but still it’s really damn hard to beat LZIV this is definitely a 10/10 album, I love how they kinda moved back into the classic sound after making LZIII overall super cool album

This album fucking rules, and I do not need this app to remind me of it.

14th March 2022 Listened throughout the day while working from home, went to see the godfather in East Dulwich with Jen and Adam. Was really struck by the drumming when listening this time around. But what can you say? It’s Led Zeppelin IV.

What’s the best Led Zeppelin song, and why is it “when the levee breaks”

Can we give more than 5 stars? It's been quite some time since I listened to this album start-to-finish, and it transported me back to the excitement of the first time. Amazing record!!

Really a masterpiece of an album with the greatest rock song ever written, in "Stairway to Heaven". Fantastic from start to finish. 9/10.

An amazing album.

In my opinion the best Led Zeppelin album. It's just very solid, no duds, everything is very good.

10/10 - Already one of my favourite albums of all time. Zeppelin's magnum opus. Not much more to say.

One of the all-time greats.

Great album! Solid from 1st to last song.

Amazing! Pure gold and deserves a spot on the top 3 best albums of all time.

A few of the classics, many others that I just don't hear very often. All great.

Probably their best work at their zenith.

Classic!

Masterpiece. Solid heavy metal album the whole way through. Basically every track is a home run.

There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already said about this album. Genre defining stuff!

Unbeatable

My favourite Led Zep album, got to be up there as the best hard rock album ever. A masterpiece

Finally a Led Zeppelin one. Classic.

Nothing to say that hasn't been said.

A beautiful album. Whenever Levee comes on during shuffle, we never skip it. Winston: "This is my maaasterpieeeece"

One of the greatest rock albums ever. Absolutely perfect. Led Zeppelin's best. 10/10 1. When the Levee Breaks 2. Stairway to Heaven 3. Going to California

All time classic. Still kicks as much ass now as it ever did.

*inhales* HEY HEY MOMMA SAID THE WAY YOU MOVE GONNA MAKE YOU SWEAT GONNE MAKE YOU GROOOOOVE"

Gotta give it up

Look this is one of those albums that a lot of people, especially certain types of people, call ‘the greatest of all time’. And they’re not necessarily wrong. Stairway to Heaven is one of, if not THE greatest rock song ever recorded. AND ITS THE WORST TRACK ON THE ALBUM HANDS DOWN. Going to California is the best one don't @ me

Legendary band, great album. With Stairway to heaven as the absolute highlight of the album. Favourite songs: - Black dog - Stairway to heaven - Going to California

Everyone needs to listen to the entire zeppelin collection

Not quite as coherent as III, but it makes up for it in the heavenly heights the songs hit.

Best Song: Stairway to Heaven. For a song so famous, it still delivers. Maybe because it isn't as overplayed on the radio as other similar mega-songs. Worst Song: Four Sticks. Not bad, just boring. Overall: Hard to listen naively given how ubiquitous this album is, but even under that weight it feels monumental.

This is another one that needs half star ratings. I'm gonna give it 5 stars because it's chock full of iconic memorable melodies and arrangements. But some of the vocals are so screechy it makes my ears bleed.

Too good to talk about

Fantastic album. Stands the test of time, no question.

I feel weird writing about this one. One of the most important albums to my awkward tween and early teen self, and still one of my favorites. I don't care how often I hear it, Stairway still moves me.

Influential iconic rock album

So many iconic songs in one album

Oh yeah, this is badass - liked it a whole lot more than III. Most of these tracks feel iconic rather than generic. Fave track - "Misty Mountain Hop" - I'm pretty sure there's a Linda Perry cover of that song that kicks ass...

Loved it!!!

Loved this. Classic Zep

Any album that has Stairway To Heaven on it has to get 5 stars by default, but Led Zeppelin is 42 minutes of gold. Something new to find on every listen still.

The only Led Zeppelin album I've ever listened to (and owned). Good album, too! Pretty simple 5 stars for me, even though some of the weird timings and uneven performance make it seem less great than it actually is. Everyone should listen to this album at some point.

One of my top 10 albums of all time I think. Every song on here is great, it's really hard to pick favourites Favourite songs: Black dog, Going to California, When the Levee Breaks

Led Zeppelin's 4th (1971) and the most successful album which has got a lot of awards. The 1'st position in the top "Classic rock - 100 greatest British rock albums ever" (april 2006) and a lot LOT more... "Stairway to Heaven" still is the most played song on various american radio stations, and still one of the best rock ballads ever!

I mean, it's LZ.

An all-time classic!

9/10 has its cheesy moments but definitely deserves its iconic status

10/10. Best Led Zeppelin album I've heard.

I mean yeah it’s great but it’s missing some wow factor for me. 9/10

Brilliant. Love it. Would listen again- and again- and again.

great album

Even not being a fan I must admit - containing an anthem like "Stairway to Heaven" and a bunch of other hits ("Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Going to California", "When the Levee Breaks") - this is a pretty strong album!

It’s good, but not great.

- Four sticks more like a bundle of sticks HHAAAAAAA - The instrumentals are so calm at start-- build up and very technical - Ngl ill say its a tuff

Another dad classic. I love the drums in this so much. More songs need good drums. Give me drums we want drums!

Just because it has The Song on it, it was fun to listen to. The other tracks don't seem to be particularly remarkable from a contemporary perspective.

There are Led Zeppelin songs that I enjoy more on other albums, but this album, in my opinion, is the most consistent and solid album that Led Zeppelin ever released. While it drags on songs like "The Battle of Evermore", "Four Sticks", "Going to California" and "When the Levee Breaks" goes on for far too long, it still has 5.75 certified all time bangers.

This is a solid album. While listening I felt it was raw, heavy, and sometimes surprisingly sad and melancholic, mixed with strong rhythmic drive and beautiful melodic moments. It has that classic Zep power but also shows a more emotional and atmospheric side. The band sounds massive and confident throughout. The riffs hit hard, the grooves are tight, and there are some truly epic, larger-than-life moments. At times it feels a little exaggerated and over-the-top (which is very Led Zeppelin), but it still works well. Overall, Led Zeppelin IV delivers exactly what you want from them — powerful rock with dynamics, melody, and attitude. Not my absolute favorite of theirs, but definitely a strong and essential record.

I really enjoyed this one

This is the softer and more commercial side to Led Zeppelin, I can see it being on a must-listen list because it's an easy default for the general public, Stairway to Heaven aside. The production is really solid, the use of stereo is beautiful. That being said, it's not MY favorite LedZep effort, I think other artists mastered the solid-but-soft rock side, that honestly they're pulling off pretty well here. 1971? So chill and rugged at the same time, what flow. I still prefer these dirty proggy riffs with screechy vocals for harder energy tracks, but there's a lot of classics here anyway. A fun record to own, but not a must. 4.1/5

i like each song separately and the whole album in general but it is not a masterpiece for me. two of the classics, black dog and stairway to heaven are here, i also love them but they are not my favorite led zeppelin songs.

Really good, but stairway to heaven carries the album a bit too much for me to give it a 5. I’ll keep listening and come back later and reconsider perhaps

Nice and well made album. I’m familiar with Stairway to heaven since my early years and I believe it is a masterpiece, though other songs from the album are just fine. Going to California is catchy.

I was introduced to Led Zeppelin through this album, about 30 years ago. It's always been my favourite album of theirs.

Led zeppelin always good again not something I would listen on purpose but if it came on I would listen

::checks notes from high school::

Black Dog - I've never heard this before, but it was very familiar... because the long-running Reeves & Mortimer quiz show Shooting Stars uses bits from this when introducing the scoremaster. Strange to have heard something hundreds of times over the years while having no idea where it originated from! Rock and Roll - Just a nice simple rock and roll song; fine to listen to but leaves no lasting impression, even mere minutes after listening to it. The Battle of Evermore - and so, the filk part of the record begins. This could have been quite epic, but they chose to go very simple and stripped back with the arrangement - which I guess is period appropriate, but I'd be interested to hear what this would be like with a couple of wailing electric guitars added in. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zep's magnum opus, and indeed one of the greatest tracks ever recorded. Can't really say anything about it that's not been said before, so will just highly recommend Jeroen Offerman's recording of it (search YouTube for Stairway at St Paul's"), where he sings the whole thing backwards and reverses the video to turn it back the right way round. Misty Mountain Hop - musically really interesting - I like the "chanting" bit where each note is the same length and the notes don't quite fit into the chords. Four Sticks - argh, they've got a bit prog here for the last of the filky section, the rhythm is all strange and truncated; if the previous song was a song a hobbit would compose, this is a song an orc would compose. Going to California - very pretty. When the Levee Breaks - wailing and wahing all over the place, very nice.

Where do I even BEGIN with this one. Oh my GOD. Stairway to Heaven is one of the songs on this album and it quite possibly is the greatest rock song in existence. I know it gets overused alot and played out as jokes for Guitar Centers but SWtH is a masterpiece in every meaning of the word. Jimmy Page's solo is immaculate, despite kicking in very late, and is for sure one of the blueprints for modern rock.

prolly haven't listened to this in decades, early 20s or late teens. i've always loved it, but i think now i appreciate side 2 even more so than before. "misty mountain top" into "four sticks" is pure genius

Led Zeppelin were a band I listened to a fair bit in the 80’s and 90’s. Still do occasionally, but alas not as often these days. I was always amused that Stairway to Heaven used to top Capital Radios 500 most popular songs pretty much year-on-year in the mid-80’s despite never having been released as a single. The joys of a public vote! Stairway to Heaven was also on of our go-to jukebox tracks - especially if someone in the pub had pissed us off as we’d just load it up on repeat and leave them to it. But I digress. This album is a really good and has some great tracks on it. Very pleased to have it turn up on this list and for the excuse to give it another spin.

A classic, nothing else that can be said about it that hasn’t already been said.

III kreeg 3 sterren, IV krijgt 4 sterren

Ruimste 4 sterren.

This was really cool. I recognized a lot of the songs not knowing they were Led Zeppelin. The sleeper hit was Going to California which I thought was a nice contrast compared to the rest of the album which was heavier rock.

This was great. Favourite Track(s): Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven Least Favourite Track(s): Going to California

Love the 2 opening songs, “Black Dog” and “Rock and Roll.” I no longer care for “Stairway to Heaven” or the “Battle of Evermore.” “When the Levee Breaks” still holds up for me and “Four Sticks” has grown on me over the years. All in all, not surprised it’s on the best of list. I prefer rocking Led Zeppelin to their quieter fare Even the songs I no longer enjoy are done well.

It’s a great album. I don’t love every track so it’s not a 5 for me, which i know is a crime to say considering how many people love it. Still great though.

I think this is not really their best work, but that closer is all time. 3 + 1 for meeting notability guidelines.

stairway to heaven carryeeeeee, fakke også litt med going to california

's pretty good

zajebiste troche zapominalam sie wsluchac bo pisalam z alima wiec przydalby sie relisten od razu ale ogl to mega myslalam ze bedzie sraka a nie byla

Some absolute classics on here, there’s no denying that. I connected with IV less than other Led Zeppelin albums though. Still fantastic though obviously.

Okey my first idea of this album is what a classical sounds. Ofcorse i didnt listen any classical rock music so i am newly listner but two songs in the album is amazing. First is stairway to heaven and albums last song when levee breaks amazing i love it

It's probably one of my all-time-fave rock albums that I can listen to from start to finish--classic!

Какие сытные здесь барабаны в последнем треке

An air guitar classic

What we have here is one of the great albums in rock. All eight tracks are good, and then there are songs like Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee Breaks that are outright brilliant. The only reason it’s not a 5 is because hard rock like this isn’t necessarily by bread and butter, and because lyrics at points feel lacking in depth.

Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and Stairway to Heaven are such well-known classics that it's not really hard to see why this album is so beloved. Even outside of those, there are some really good songs here. Misty Mountain Hop and When the Levee Breaks are both fantastic as well. Absolutely an album worth listening to.

I really did not like The Battle of Evermore, other than that it was a pretty damn near perfect album. The instrumentals are otherworldly and the vocals enhance it all the way through. Just can’t give it 5 stars because I shouldn’t dislike a specific song that much from a 5-star album.

Yeah, this is funky and fun as always. I will probably never listen to this again and have already forgotten it but it probably made me look cool as I rolled up to the toll booth this morning, so there's that.

This might be LZ's most legendary album. One of my favorite aspects of LZ continues to be how satisfying the drum/string parts intertwine to create satisfying syncopation and evoke polyrhythmic feeling, like in Black Dog or Misty Mountain top. the Battle of Evermore and Going to California were also highlights for me

How to rate this? Although I've never owned the album, I'm plenty familiar with most (all?) of the tunes esp. on side 1. However, I've only just learned/realized that the singer duetting with Plant on 'Evermore' is the late, great Sandy Denny, who I like quite a bit, esp. from her work with Fairport Convention (speaking of whom: I hope we get one of their albums). And, unlike tracks 1, 2, and 4 (which have been played to death on the radio, over the past 55 years), I've only occasionally heard 'Evermore' - so, for that reason, and because of Sandy Denny, and the mandolin on it, too, it's easier to appreciate that one. The biggest obstacle to me liking LZ, always, has been Robert Plant's voice. I've made my peace with it (more or less), but I still don't love it. And then, deep down, there are still some vestiges of my initial/early dislike, due not only to Plant's voice, but also to hearing LZ on the radio so much, plus maybe some sort of tribal reaction against the (very white and male) tribe of people in middle and high school (and "classic rock" dj's) who were LZ fans (i.e., thinking, subconsciously, that if *they* like it, it's probably not for me). Ok, anyway, to rate this: extra points for mandolins, and Tolkien (?) references, and Sandy Denny. Deductions for Plant's voice, and over-exposure. And -- trying to set aside my longstanding aversion (which I've mostly already discarded) -- 4 stars seems right. Favorite tracks are Evermore, Misty Mountain, and Going to California (note that Evermore and California both feature mandolin). And the last track, Levee, is good, too. So, yeah, a solid 4 stars. Would I have given it 5 stars, if I'd never heard it before? Who can say?! (But I'd still have had to grapple with Plant's singing. ;) )

As discussed in the chat, I like Zeppelin a lot more than I realized before starting this list. That said, this album didn't hit as hard as III did for me. Battle of Evermore was a bit of a bore and I think the novelty of Stairway to Heaven is just so far gone at this point that its appeal isn't as great as it could be. Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and Misty Mountain Hop are all jams tho.

An impact that is lessened by the release of Paranoid, but a certainly solid rock album worth listening through

Took them a while to settle down into their sound prior to this but the result is solid.

A classic album, some big hitters on this album. Surprisingly concise and very re listenable

Is it brilliant, is it overblown wank? At times, it's both.

Much better effort from the lads on this one, well done. Weirdly feels like I've never heard the end of Stairway to Heaven, how can this be?? Feels like a different tune, anyway, solid album.

There’s a good argument to be made that 1971 was the best year for music since the invention of the gramophone. This album is a prime example of a good album being more than the sum of its parts. It’s not perfect by any means - Stairway to Heaven plods along for just a bit too long and let’s face it, however good John Bonham’s drumming is, When The Levee Breaks is still a bunch of white guys playing delta blues. However the rest of the album more than makes up for these petty cavils, with a mix of stomping rock’n’roll and quieter numbers, with a bit of Tolkien-esque elves and goblins folderol prog thrown in for good measure. Speaking of which, The Battle of Evermore is notable for featuring the great Sandy Denny and it’s a shame that she didn’t get to do more with the band as her vocals are a perfect complement for Robert Plant’s.

Delightful. I’ve been for long waiting for a classic masterpiece to get recommended to my feed.

i like it

Eu gosto desse álbum

Super!

I know it’s a classic, but it is not that great. A few weaker tracks on side 2, if I’m not mistaken. Stairway to heaven is of course outstanding.

So many great songs.

Really nice album.

You know what, in terms of the 60s/70s rock mush that this on this list, I really enjoyed this one! Felt less generic and had a bit of something to it. I those Led Zeppelin's are gonna make it!

I have a guilty love of Led Zep tbh, maybe it's the feeling of being in my dad's car as a child, or helping him make a Led Zeppelin song his ringtone. It's just funtimes good ol rock n roll to me!

Initially I had to get used to the sound, especially the voice of Robert Plant, it's.. sharp. So I focused on the drums more. Also, the last few songs were more interesting and for the time probably quite revolutionary. I can see where Angine de Poitrine got some inspiration. And of course.. Stairway to Heaven. I've heard it a 1001 times now. Really listened. It's a gem ok. Very familiar. But a gem.

Sonaré a papá cansón, pero definitvmente Led Zeppelin logró algo con el rock desde los 70 que sigue siendo ininigualable.

4 just because of stairway and levee

Tiene algunos temunes, la verdad en general me gustó mucho, capaz lo único que le criticaría es que las canciones son muuy largas.

Very energetic and energizing. Must have been mind-blowing to listen when it first came out. The album doesn't have a lot of pacing or sequencing, though - it's more a selection of individual songs, each of them strong on their own merits. Their ability to compose an album with a coherent arc and meaning (instead of just songs) hasn't fully emerged.

Good album, really enjoyed it. Zeppelin is always good time and this hit the spot.

This is honestly the Zeppelin album that I gravitate to the least. When the Levee Breaks is a monster, Misty Mountain Hop is great, and Rock and Roll is good too. But, sorry, I'm not in love with Stairway to Heaven. The Battle of Evermore is a drag. Going to California is weaker. I'd take Four Sticks. Black Dog I get. But this is too often the pantheon of Zeppelin when in reality it should be II. I gave I a 4 star rating. I can't see giving this a 3 necessarily, but if I never put this on again, I'm not sure I'd feel lost without it.

Tough to beat some classic rock - and it doesn’t get more classic than this! Favourite track: Stairway to Heaven

I don’t know what I was expecting, but this album turned out to be overall pretty good. Definitely I’m going to listen more.

Yeah I’m sure it was good in the 70s, and they’re good at what they do. Would I listen again, maybe just the hits.

As usual, Zeppelin very much worth of the hype. Aged really good I feel.

listened to it a while ago. incredibile album with very elevated songs and some psychedelic imo

You know what. They’ve won me over.

This was so close to a 5 but a couple of songs are worth skipping.

Black dog! Stairway to Heaven! When the Levee Breaks!

The soundtrack of my years as a preteen dirtbag.

This is pure math. IV ≠ 5. In fact, IV = 4

Their best work and outstanding hits/track ratio. Something is holding me back from awarding the five however. Over play? Too Boomer? I don’t want a physical copy? Just vibes? I don’t know & I’m not sure I care.

Pretty good but like wayyyyy overhyped by sentimental boomers remembering how they probably got head while listening to this album or something. Physical Graffiti clears this album so easy.

Everyone knows Led Zeppelin IV. It's a very, very good album, but to be honest it's not really there on the list of my favourite albums.

English band creates the most quintesessential american album ever. Hard rock, folk and blues.

Banger

Classic rock at its finest. Houses of the Holy is still my personal fave though.

Already listened to this one! Really enjoyed it though

Consistently great album. Maybe the most listenable of Led Zepp's catalogue? Thing about Zepp is I'm never really compelled to seek them out... but whenever a track on "IV" comes on the radio or a playlist, I let it play out.

275/1089 i don’t have much to say about this one other than that i enjoyed it, 3rd LZ album and i think this is my fave so far but they’ve all been solid faves: The Battle of Evermore, Going to California 73/100

And she's buying a stairway to heaven

It's Led Zeppelin, but it's not the best of Led Zeppelin

Gives me motortreffen vibes, in a damn good way

Apparently this was the Led Zeppelin album I was waiting for. I really enjoyed this. Even though there was nothing new here for me, having heard all of these songs on WBCN during my younger years, I had never listened to the full album. Definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I had expected. This makes me happy because now I can tell my friend who is a rabid LZ fan that I agree, she's not completely bonkers.

Great band with great music

Pretty great

Not as good as III in my opinion, but still pretty damn good

It's all about the drums, really. Bonham was the irreplaceable component of the band. Raw, booming, swinging - a one-off.

I've heard this a thousand times. Not really a fan of Stairway.

A little up and down -- I like some of the lesser known tracks near the back end more than the heavy hitters.

Overall it’s pretty good, but there are just some songs that I didn’t find that enjoyable.

ou ye ou yee ou yeee tuntun sahuuur ou yeee

"No stairway, Denied!" Wayne from Wayne's world

Said it on the other Led Zeppelin album(s), these songs just feel crafted. Dense but not over produced. Enjoyable throughout.

I had no idea just how many hits came off of this album. I've always appreciated Led Zeppelin, but it just seemed like hit after hit after hit kept coming up in queue. I really enjoyed this as a workday jam album and was able to add some songs to my Liked Songs list that were apparently missing (ex: Misty Mountain Hop). Definitely enjoyed listening to it a few times over and would definitely listen to it again in the future. Not a 5⭐ album, but certainly up there in the rankings--like a 4/4.5?

Liked it, im happy that that was the first time i had listened to the whole album, since i'm not sure if i had appreciated it as much if i had listened to it when i was younger

Undeniably a great album, but I find the mixing to be both muddled and maximalist to the point where it's hard to parse out all the parts. Obviously there's breathing room on the quieter songs, but I wasn't able to step into the rockers as easily as I wanted to. But also this album changed my life where I heard it as a 13 year old, so it gets a 4.

This is the Led Zeppliniest Led Zeppelin album ever! It has Stariway to Heaven! It has the most Bonzo drumming! It has all the guitars! It has Robert Plant moaning, groaning, and just sleezing all over this record! It is so mystical, it doesn't even have an album title! Zeppelin can actually be a bit of a chore for me sometimes, but this album is actually pretty good. It is remarkable how every single song on this record was on regular rotation in my city's classic rock station.

One of those rock classics that I respect a lot but that I rarely want to listen to. Probably their most iconic album, but not necessarily my favorite one.

Yeah, great stuff. I don’t think every song is 10/10 on this but about half are.

I really enjoy the instrumentation, it’s excellent. Robert Plant is actually my least favorite part!

Fine album.

Heck yeah.
