Reviews (page 6 of 13)

I kinda have to give it a 5 just for the Black Dog, Stairway, and When the Levee Breaks. Three monstrously good tracks that define what makes Zeppelin so iconic to me.

Must anything be said about this great classic?

Iconic rock album. Such incredible variety in a two-sided album from 1971!

5! 10! 100! Best of all time?

A afluência sonora e temática de tudo que a banda já tinha sido até então. Com certeza um dos melhores discos de rock da história que até hoje se mantem empolgante e único.

Led Zeppelin really could do no wrong on their first four albums. There’s a not so great song here and there (looking any you Lemon Song) but for all intents and purposes this was quite the streak. And you’d think by the fourth one they’d be running out of steam, but this is arguably their best album. I do think they should have switched Levee and Stairway, Stairway is an obvious closer. Otherwise the album is packed with hits and flows nicely. They also don’t overstay their welcome, it’s 40ish minutes of great tunes and then it’s done.

Rock n roll forever. Not a bad song on this album

Seriously, it doesn't get better or more epic than this one - on which Stairway to Heaven is somehow possibly not even one of the top songs on the album.

Didn’t have to listen (but I did). About the easiest 5 yet

Classic hard rock album. So many good songs here, good from beginning to end. Mixes it up to stay interesting. Hard rock songs, epic masterpieces, more bluesy feeling stuff, it’s all here, and it’s all good.

I know a few songs. Stairway to Heaven moves this album to the top.

5 Stars all day long!!!

Masterpiece 5/5

Great album!

Awesome!!!

Classic. Reason it is overplayed. Battle of Evermore LOTR D&D classic.

The first album I owned on vinyl - this album will always be close to my heart <3 stairway to heaven and battle of evermore are some of my most favourite songs in the world

So I decided what I’m gonna do now. I’m gonna give Zep IV a (4.8*s) L rates it at (4.0*s) We had the album at 4Ex back in the early 70s, Side A got moderate play for Black Dog and Stairway. On this listen, I think the B Side is stronger. The entire album holds up, all songs are hits. At this point I still think this is Zeppelin’s best album, but time will tell as I know we’ll be listening to more of them before this journey through the 1001 list is complete…

Oh baby! I dare someone to say this doesn't belong on many music lists. What an album. Grabs you right at the start and doesnt let go. I think the best is coming off Stairway and flipping to side b to get an uppercut from Misty Mt Hop. When the album is over, you are left a bit dumbfounded when you realize just how many greats are on it. I know it is hailed as Zeps best (I may argue) and it is worthy of that pedestal amongst their insane catalog of musical genius. Will hold up forever and may even keep getting better...4.9.

What needs to be said? Incredible album all the way through. This belongs in the argument for best album of all time. Whether you love Zep or not so much about IV is iconic. I expect this to be at the top of many many lists. 4.9 stars

5 It’s a 5

What can you say, it's Led Zeppelin.

Omg yes YES Y E S. LOVE IT INSTANT 10/10

4 x Very Good. High art rock.

I've gotten 3 LZ albums in order: I, III, now IV. They've gotten progressively better. I'll give this top marks based on its incredible legacy. I'll even admit to enjoying it.

This is a classic album from beginning to end. I'm not the biggest Zeppelin fan in the world but there's just no denying how good this one is. Easy 5.

I like this album, but I wonder how to rate it. To me, Led Zep’s hits far outshine the other tracks on most of their albums. But is that enough of a reason to drop it to four stars? That’s the dilemma. In the end, I think not. In my opinion, rock and roll needed this album and is better because of it.

yea its pretty good i guess

Really just an incredible showcase of musicianship across the board, but also a record where Led Zeppelin goes above and beyond on their blues influences with tracks like "The Battle of Evermore" and "Going to California." A fiery yet at times endearing record that is one of hard rock's greatest achievements. "Four Sticks" is kind of just okay though

My mom had this record and as a kid, I remember the album cover but never put it together with the music that we would play. Its just right...its authentically trippy, his voice is right for the music, the melodies and chords are perfect, it flows but nothing is overdone. It is, passionate, meaningful, an album you can hear, feel and see all at once. My favs are Misty Mountain Hop and Going to California.

Great band! Robert Plant's lyrics and vocals are incredible. Jimmy Page's guitar work is phenomenal. This is definitely one of their best albums. Possibly their best one. It's great start to finish.

Nearly every song on this album is so overplayed on classic rock radio, you’d think it is a greatest hits record. I would say this is Zep’s most consistent piece of work. Definitely their most totemic, god like work.

Take all my 5s, album generator! This has been a good run of music, damn. Of course this gets a 5, it’s about as classic as it gets, and for good reason. Zeppelin rocks. Stairway to Heaven is still an absolute treasure, and there are so many other total bangers on here too. It could pretty much be a greatest hits album.

Probably the best Led Zeppelin album. Some iconic songs and really none of the songs on the album are skippable. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Some of the best ever rock songs are on this album. The last couple songs were misses for me, but I'm sticking with the 5 stars because the good ones are REAL good.

Elska allt við þessa plötu. Hún er búin að vera í blóðinu mínu frá því ég var pínulítil!

This is likely one of the best albums ever recorded. I think you're doing some mental gymnastics trying to give this anything other than a 5. Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Misty Mountain Hop, Going to California, and When the Levee Breaks making it all on a single album is nuts to think about. I can't imagine being around when this album dropped.

An utterly singular group of musicians make not just their best record, but one of the greatest rock records ever recorded. A lot of hyperbole will get penned in this list, but it's Zeppelin IV...there's just not much more to add; it's a flawless and timeless record.

A 6 star classic album.

This is already one of my favourite albums of all time.

I’m a III and II man myself, but I don’t remember this being actually as good as its reputation. Stairway is still incredibly overrated though. Might be the weakest song on the record.

What is there to say? It's Led Zeppelin's best album and one of the best rock albums of all time. Halfway through and you have four of the best songs of the decade. Easy 5.

If this album isn’t a 5 star, no 5 star albums exist.

Five stars, no notes.

5 stars is the only appropriate rating for this album. Anyone disagreeing has the wrong opinion.

Untitled is the fourth studio album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. The negative reaction to "Led Zeppelin III" led the band to leave this album untitled. It does feature four symbols, one for each band member and is commonly referred to as "Led Zeppelin IV." The majority of the album was recorded in country house Headley Grave which provided an environment that inspired them to try different arrangements of material and create in various styles. Guitarist Jimmy Page produced and mixed the album. It was a critical and commercial success hitting #1 in the UK, #2 in the US and becoming their biggest selling album. An echoing guitar, Robert Plant yelling "Hey, Hey Mama...." and we're off with "Black Dog." A heavy guitar, drummer John Bonham hitting lots of cymbals and the start/stop flow of the song. It was named after a dog that hung around Headley Grave. "Rock and Roll" explodes right way with aggressive drums and guitar. The song was created in early jam sessions during the album recording and that's exactly what it sounds like. Throttled vocals by Robert Plant and Ian Stewart on piano. Page on acoustic guitar and John Paul Jones on the recorder begin the classic "Stairway to Heaven." This song was played so much on the radio in the 70's and 80's that I admit, I was sick of it. Thank God things for me i dont hear this as much nowadays cause this is really a fantastic song. The first half of soft rock which explodes to hard rock. When Bonham kicks the drums in...Yeah! It's about a woman who took everything without giving anything back. "Going to California" has, I believe, Robert Plant's best lyrics on the album. An acoustic number which describes a California earthquake and is about trying to find the perfect woman. It was inspired by Joni Mitchell. Who's up for a song with lead drums? I am and that's exactly what we get with the bluesy cover of Memphis Mine's "When the Levee Breaks." Bonham's legendary drum intro and continued thunder pound throughout the song. Plant's harmonica (I thinks it's him) gives it that swampy bluesy vibe. The grind of this song is heavy and deep. Well, what can you say here? It is one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time and still hits hard. I like what a critic said describing the album in that each song does not step on the next song. The songs glow throughout the album. Page's guitar, Bonham's drums and Plant's vocals have to be among the best of their career. The lyrics especially with the medieval references may not be at the brilliant level but who cares. A classic in every which way.

Honestly, even if old school rock is not my go to genre, the fact of the matter is that this remains, and stands the test of time, taste, trends, and even after having heard each of these songs a billion times, this is one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time and will remain so forever. It is hard to imagine what it must have been like to hear this for the first time when it came out.

I do like (already) listening to zed zepplin so yes, i do like this too.

Simplesmente Led Zeppelin IV

5 obviously.

This is possibly the greatest work from one of the most iconic and influential rock groups of all time. This album showcases all the best attributes of Led Zeppelin. From the no-nonsense hard rock jams like "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll", to groovier jams like "Misty Mountain Top", the stellar musicianship of the members of the band are on full display here. And this is not even mentioning one of the most played songs of rock history which also happens to be on this album, "Stairway to Heaven". This song has a reputation of being "overplayed", but it's for good reason - because it's perfect, just like this album in my opinion. 10/10

One of my favorite albums of all time absolute loved it!!

Today was the day to dust off my old CD to enjoy some of this music that has already been imprinted in my soul since I was a teenager. There's not much to say. Absolute classic that never gets old

Sooooo gooooood!!! I love Going to California and Stairway to heaven just such a well-balanced and great album

I’ve always really enjoyed this album and feel there aren’t any skips. It has a lot of exposure and can get played out but it’s for good reason there are classics on it.

no comment

I know it's been overplayed, but, really? I can't not.

All hail LZ. 🤘

This has got to be a 5/5 hasn't it? Reasons: My favourite song on here, because I am a contrary hipster, is probably "When the Levee Breaks". That drum sound! I can play "Black Dog" on the guitar, although I wish I'd learnt a different song because I never know when to come in after the sing-y bits. Without this album and "Stairway to Heaven," we would never have had the "No Stairway? Denied!" bit from Wayne's World. The other songs I haven't mentioned are either nice folky ones or nice groovy ones and I love them. Thought Led Zeppelin probably nicked them off of someone else. FIVE STARS!

Always loved it.

A standout, five star album. Though not their best ... 🤔

epic genius rock jimmy F'ing page

Fantastical and ethereal. Gortdamn classics in this album.

That was really good 5/5

I've nothing more to say than has already been said, and incredible masterpiece of an album.

How did I miss this one?

Yeahhhh I love this album so much. Been listening to this since I was a kid. Cliche to say, but stairway to heaven is so damn good. crazy that an 8 minute song doesn’t get boring. Love the experimenting in four sticks. You’re lying if you say when the levee breaks isn’t a VIBE. The lyrics are sometimes too layered in metaphor and Tolkien references but whatever I don’t really mind. This is a FIVER for sure.

This album felt like a film soundtrack in the best way. I was familiar with a few of these already, but I was pleasantly surprised by each new song. Of course this is a renowned and even legendary band, but I guess I hadn't quite given Led Zeppelin a chance yet. Definitely an album that flows from start to finish.

A phenomenal and top tier album. Revolutionary and iconic, "Led Zeppelin IV" is a staple to any rock album listing. Led Zeppelin heralded in a new generation of rockers with this timeless album.

I know it, you know it, every aspiring guitarist knows at least a few notes of it: Led Zeppelin IV is one of if not THE greatest hard rock album of all time, with “Stairway to Heaven” as one of the most well-known and technically impressive guitar solos out there. But “Stairway to Heaven” isn’t the only great song on this album. They’re all great. Any Led Zeppelin greatest hits album will have to have at least 3 songs from this album, and it’s a bit of a crapshoot which ones get selected. “Black Dog” opens on a bang with “Rock and Roll” keeping the blood pumping. “The Battle of Evermore” and “Misty Mountain Hop” are both Lord of the Rings-inspired tunes which are probably the most unique on the album. “Four Sticks” is another bop, “Going to California” is the lightest song on the album, and “When the Levee Breaks” is probably the heaviest. At the time, bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple were developing the heavy metal genre, which at that point was tied closely to blues rock. Led Zeppelin IV mastered the genre as a combination of the 2, and I believe that they mastered it so well that they basically ended the genre as it existed. After 1971, bands either veered further into metal or blues, but not both anymore. Obviously there are counter-examples, but there’s no better example of a genre which has reached its peak in a single album.

Quintessential album for rock music ever, if not for all music.

some notable hits I already knew, short album but every song is great led zeppelin

unquestionably belongs on this list. no ifs, and, or buts.

It’s perfect

A classic classic rock album.

Classic, and for good reason

Black Dog, Going to California... it's all so good. Self-explanatory 5 stars.

This was the second Zeppelin album I listened to, and the first one I bought. All killer, no filler, and released in my birth year.

Great album 10/10

From the crashing high hat of Rock and Roll to Bonzo’s booming drums in Levee, and the masterpiece musical journey of Stairway, this may be the easiest 5 ever. The whole album absolutely cooks and is a landmark in the history of rock. If anything needs a knob that goes to 11, this does.

Following Mike Damone’s five-point plan from Fast Times at Ridgemont High: 1. "You never let on how much you like a girl. 'Oh, Debbie. Hi.'" 2. "You always call the shots. 'Kiss me. You won't regret it.'" 3. "Act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. 'Isn't this great?'" 4. "When ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move. 'Now, the lady will have the linguine and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice.'" …and most importantly… 5. "When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV."

Is there a bustle in your hedgerow or are you just happy to see me?! This is LZ at the peak of their plentiful powers. I don’t care how many times I’ve heard Stairway (a million?). That song is flawless.

…and I’ll fight anyone who disagrees!

First thing’s first: I’m giving this album an emphatic 5*. That said, a had an interesting reaction while listening. Boredom isn’t the right word, but the songs are so ubiquitous that there's really no surprise or discovery factor here. Not like Sabbath's debut that blew my mind because I wasn't as familiar with the tracks (my stupid 4* rating of that album will haunt me until the day I die). Incredible that six of eight tracks are stone cold classics. Obvi Stairway, the most played track on the radio ever. Funny that Plant got so tired of hearing it that he donated a pile of cash to a station fundraiser so they would never play it again. I think that's true. Anyways, that's my take. 5* to the max. Thanks for listening. #BeBlessed 5/5

I’ve been sick of this album for 40 years, but can’t deny it’s great

Top 5 all time!

excellent album. forgot how good stairway is

Simplesmente uma coletânea de classicos

Easy 5 stars. They don’t come much better than this.

Another from my youth that thankfully hasnt aged a day. As about as perfect a rock record you’re likely to find (albeit, LZ III is more of a personal favourite of mine). Every track a total belter from start to finish, total perfection.

Pretty much the epitome of classic rock, sounds like what a dozen other bands on this list actually want to be. Robert plants voice really is the best for this sort of music It sounds completely authentic and has most of Led Zep's best songs. I know stairway to heaven has a stereotype of being overplayed but I'm not sure where it's getting played, maybe back in the day, still sounds great to me. Top notch, easy 5.

Quite good isn't it. Taking the Jack approach - no one can write anything further about Stairway to Heaven. Black Dog and Going to California were my favourites. I never realised how middle-of-the-road Led Zeppelin were until this list, very easy to listen to.

God damn this is a truly outstanding album. I loved everything from the hard rock of "Black Dog" all the way to the blues of "When the Levee Breaks". Easy 5⭐ Highlights: Black Dog Rock and Roll Stairway to Heaven When the Levee Breaks

One of the best albums I've ever heard

“Black Dog,” “Rock and Roll,” and “Stairway to Heaven.” Phenomenal album.

classic rock album of all time. 1971 was a great year

Easy! 5

Świetne, ponadczasowe. 5/5

-darf ich gar nicht so laut hören in der Wohnung wie ich gerne würde! -sehr sehr sehr gut (Stairway to heaven nur der 6. beste Song auf der Platte)

Stairway to heaven

One of a handful of albums from the 70s that's beyond criticism, and for good reason, as every track is a winner. It's quite a diverse affair going from heavy rock to mystical folk. I personally prefer the folky stuff, especially 'The Battle of Evermore' (featuring Sandy Denny) but I equally love the bombastic 'When The Levee Breaks'. A true classic.

One of my all-time favourite albums

A zinger! I didn't know this was wall-to-wall needledrops. What a delight. I am an tired and pottering about doing tasks and this is a lovely accompaniment. I cannot go 4.5 stars, so I'll have to round.

When a Led Zeppelin album comes up on the 1001 list, I always enjoy it, but I'd never really listen to them afterwards, and I'm not sure why. Listening to IV, I found myself trying to pick faults so that I could down score it from a 5 vote, probably because I have a massive soft spot for The Beatles. But I can't fault it, 5!

PROPER banger 9/10 goat songs on this one brill

What needs to be said?

"Now hang on," I can hear you say. "You rated Led Zeppelin's fourth album 5 stars, but Led Zeppelin II was a 1-star album for you? Are you an absolute lunatic?" The answer is likely yes, but I can justify it in one sentence: The rest of the band decided to show up. From what I've gathered, much of Led Zeppelin's strength lies in their guitarist. The first couple albums seemed like little more than excuses to showcase a string of guitar solos. Now, if you're into killer guitar solos, Led Zeppelin is your band. If you're not... well, those albums don't have much else for you. By the time you get to Led Zeppelin IV, you can tell the rest of the band has figured out where they fit into the picture. That's not to say the stellar guitar work is gone; it still dominates throughout. But now the album feels like it has intention and clarity, and it makes all the difference.

1st record I ever dug into. My Mom had Zep and my step-Dad had the Beatles but I resented my step-dad so I rocked Zeppelin haha. Iconic nostalgia for me.

5 stars

Frodo would be proud

THE Best album ever produced. No 1 in ANY list. Black Dog - the first few bars give me goosebumps cos I know every track about to be unleashed ♠️ Rock and Roll - Used to play this at the local underage disco! (Cos it's radio play short!)😂 The Battle of Evermore - an inspiration and part of me for almost 50 years 💚 Stairway to Heaven - unquestionably, THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😎🌈 Misty Mountain Hop - Pure Zep 😊 Four sticks - More Pure Zep 😊 My dogs name is Zepp 😎 Going to California - Always gives me a chill, it's soooo good 😉 When the Levee Breaks - Astonishingly good ♠️

'nuff said

All killer. Sonically enveloping. Groovy as hell.

10/10 album

Led Zepplin. Excellent,

This album is hit after hit and absolutely amazing. Led Zepplin is easily one of the best bands ever. 5 stars and if there was an option to give more I would.

Another one of Those Albums Everyone Had. I own it still. Loved it then and still do.

The biggest band of the Seventies, and unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history Wow Stairway to Heaven - "Gänsehaut" - Feelings ;-)

I've listened to this a lot over the years but it's been awhile. It was nice to revisit after such a long hiatus. There's no question this is solid all the way through. It's a must listen for anyone regardless of what your favorite genre is.

What a treat

When you own the album on cassette you can't cherry pick the tracks. This means you listen to all of them and over time appreciate the nuances of each one. As a collection probably their best work. Individual tracks elsewhere may well be better.

Ever heard rock n roll? Not until you’ve heard Zeppelin! This is one of my favorite rock albums ever made. It also features my favorite track from the iconic band. Banger after banger as we make our way up the Stairway to Heaven!

you can't give this album less than 5/5. Cmon.

Wore the vinyl out so many times!

Great album classic zepplin

It's zoso

I'm fifteen years old again. Big grins. Appreciated the drums and bass more than ever.

When I think of rock and roll it’s this. Everything here Black dog through stairway to heaven is all the essence of rock and roll. The Beatles may of revolutionized it but Led Zeppelin perfected it A fucking plus Favorite: stairway to heaven 5/5 beautiful

Not my favourite Zep but still a pure banger

A classic album!

Classic over all of the classics. Stairway to heaven is enough to give it 5/5.

This album slaps. I knew most of the tracks already, but there were two songs I wasn't familiar with (Four Sticks and Going to California) so it was great to hear some new content. Loved it!

It's Zeppelin IV.. what more needs to be said.

Let the led out! 🤘🏼

Perfection

This was the best Zep album. It was really John Bonhams album. The drums were spectacular. A bit less guitar than 1-3. Better writing. Better production. Stairway took on a life of its own but every other some was very good.

literally my favourite led zep album

It's not something that I would personally decide to listen to if I had to choose, but can this be anything else than a 5?

What can you say about this album. It's perfect, even though you probably know that.

Great album with some really fantastic songs. "Stairway to Heaven" is great, but my current favorite may be "The Battle of Evermore."

This was one of the first albums I ever had.

If you need someone to explain why this is a 5 star classic to you, you may be too far gone.

Dude it's Led Zeppelin IV. What's the world coming to if you don't give this a 5/5?

When I think of "rock 'n' roll" I think of Springsteen doing Quarter to 3 at No Nukes. But when I think of "rock" I think of this album -- even though I know actual fans of "rock" would be disappointed with that take. Classic all the way around.

A clear Five. Hundred. All Zeppelin albums have a five floor for me, but everyone knows this is the best one ever. I love the legend of how Jimmy Page put the drums in the hallway for When the Levee Breaks to give it a hollow echo sound. Works like a dream. A drummer I know who covers Rock and Roll says no guitarist ever — ever — can figure out when to come in on that song. Misty Mountain Hop makes me so happy. It has a lot to do with John Bonham’s lazy fills. And baby baby baby do you like it? Yes I do. Going to California still makes me pensive. Telling myself it’s not as hard hard hard as it seems… I don’t even need Stairway to Heaven for the rating. In fact I usually skip it because after all these years I’m still reacting to the radio overplay. If you ever doubted whether these guys were great musicians, google “black dog time signature”. Or treat yourself to the YouTube video “What Makes John Bonham Such a Good Drummer”. Amazing. Hey hey mama. That’s all you need to know. 500.

Pretty solid

Yeah it's pretty insane this album exist like this. It's just hard to fathom a more quintessential album. It's crazy. Like the deep tracks are Misty Mountain Hop and The Battle of Evermore? You kidding me?

this is THE rock album! If I have to keep one of them I keep this one!! Led Zeppelin IV forever!!!! Had a funny experience with this. I never had listened to Zeppelin until 1001. We got Led Zeppelin I, and I remember thinking, wow, this is pretty good. Intrigued that weekend, I pulled up Led Zeppelin II and... it was even better! Then so on, and so on, until you get to mind-melting IV! It's the most exponential growth graph in rock music. IV is stratospherically high heights! This album is not ruined by the fact that it's been played on classic rock radio for basically 100 years. I'm proud of my fellow Americans that we think so highly of Led Zeppelin. It's WAY MORE 70's PROG than I ever appreciated. Stairway to Heaven could totally have been in the middle of a Genesis record of the same year. Some of it sounds like pastiche-y, Laurel Canyon folk, in a funny way. Tons of funny overlap with that. 5/5

Awesome

Arguably one of the top bands. All of their albums play like Greatest Hits albums. Add to it one of the most recognizable songs of all time and it is an instant include on this list. Page and Plant scream to the heavens while Bonham and Jones drives them through the paces and changes on this classic record.

This album is just perfect, and nothing will ever rock as hard as When the Levee Breaks.

A quintessential rock album

I liked the plinginess of it.

favorite song: when the levee breaks least favorite song: four sticks rating: 10/10

Heard these tracks a gazillion times, so no need to listen. Amazing band, amazing album.

Legendary album. Every song hits! When The Levee Breaks is a favourite song of mine.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Not a bad track on the album. "Stairway to Heaven" is overrated, but still a classic, and "When the Levee Breaks" is one of my favorite Zeppelin tracks.

Zeppelin is on fire here. Loud, raucous, sexual, soulful, bluesy, folksy - this album is perfect. It's also arguably one of the first metal albums. Personally, it's one of my all-time favorite albums & I'll forever be obsessed with When the Levee Breaks. Let the Led out, kids. 5 stars.

One of the best of all times

I love them i cant say nothing else

Maybe my favorite entire album of all time.

I mean.... Stairway to Heaven really is the most perfect song. Listening to this makes me realize that Rush was definitely influenced by these talented lads.

Hvorfor kjøpe "greatest rock'n roll hits of all time" album når du bare kan kjøpe dette. Simeplthen et perfekt album.

Perfect Album

Absolute masterpiece. This album starts hot and never cools down in terms of quality. Led Zeppelin's ability to cover all feels while ostensibly being a metal band is one of the more impressive things you'll see in music. Favorite track: Misty Mountain Hop

No comment required. Second only to Led Zep II.

I mean has to be one the GOAT albums! From start to finish it’s just magic. It’s blues, it’s rock, it’s beauty, it’s sexy as hell, it’s unique, it’s truly one of a kind from a band that paved a path for so many future artist.

Classic

Black Dog Stairway to Heaven

This album is packed. It sounded great. "Going to California" is probably my favorite on this one, but there are so many iconic tracks. I feel like I'm somewhere south of a 5, maybe closer to 4, but I think I'm bumping it up for its concision.

I have the album cover tattooed on my arm so i can’t be an impartial judge

Great.

Door een aantal nummertjes moet het een 5 zijn. Op basis van de laatste paar is het een drie… maar ja, ik kon niet anders

This is THE Zeppelin album. If you don’t know at least half of these, you’ve been living under a rock. But not the rock of Led Zeppelin!

Actual bangers through the entire album. Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, and Rock and Roll are absolute top tier songs.

A classic! I must have listened to it a thousand times but I still like it. „When the levee breaks“ is a masterpiece and my favourite track by Led Zeppelin.

The Classic in Classic Rock. Critics creamed it when it came out but it stands the test of time and is still relevant. The last four songs are the band at their eclectic best.

Th mighty Zep. Powerful album with the band smashing on all cylinders Between II and physical graffiti this is the center point of the Trinity of all that was holy for a young man in the 1970s

Powerhouse of an album is

What can I add that hasn't already been said?

peak 9.8/10

like i said before, these culture vulture pedophiles know how to make/steal great music.

One of the greatest albums with one of the greatest songs. You can’t go wrong!

Uh duh

This is Rock and Roll.

Classic! Awesome blend of rock and folk.

This is a certified Dad Rock classic

The genius of Zep, as I’ve learned from going all the way down YouTube rabbit holes, derives from Bonzo's drumming, even though Jimmy Page's guitar playing is otherworldly. Instead of Bonzo locking into rhythms with John Paul Jones on bass, he “gets in” with Page ... which is evident in rockers like "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll,” "Misty Mountain Hop" and "When the Levee Breaks." Instead of basic 4-4 drum beats, Zep’s classics are advanced math formulas … with Bonzo’s elaborate stick work propelling the songs into uncharted sonic waters. Without Bonzo, Zep is just another Blues-based English rock band with an excellent guitarist and a charismatic singer. Hammer of the Gods? Indeed.

Ummm. Do you have to ask?

In my personal top 10 list. Rock & Roll was a little played out, but still, one of Led Zeppelin's best albums.

This one is a masterpiece from start to finish. There is not a bad song on it and no matter how many times I have heard "Stairway To Heaven" it hits me the same way each and every time as it did the first time. Truly one of the greatest ever. 9.8/10

Classic. Maybe the best 4th album of any band.

Timeless album, spoiled only slightly by how commercialized some of the tracks have become.

Sensational

One of my favorites

groovy

One of the greatest albums ive ever heard this has been one if my favorites for a long time I dont care what anyone says Stairway to heaven is STILL one of the greatest songs ever made A few other favs of mine Misty mountain hop Going to California Rock n roll

Inni helvete bra

Top 5 album for me for sure. One classic after another. Hardest thing is to hear it anew.

Fantastic

Definitely the best Led Zeppelin album out there! 10/10

This is the best Zeppelin album. I will not be taking any further questions. 10/10

💖 black dog 🗣️ 9️⃣

The best Zeppelin album the isn't the BBC Sessions. 6 of the 8 songs hit! And 3 of their top 5 most listened to songs on Spotify are from this album. My first 5⭐

One of the most famous albums of all time which is largely known just because of Stairway. The Battle of Evermore is easy to sleep on but it's great. When the Levee Breaks hits as well. Zepp is such a connection point for so much music. And I'll throw it in, Stairway is one of the best songs ever made.

The Album art is something special. Each song is its own event. They use the Blues, Rock and Folk music as a strong foundation and build a castle on that foundation.

One of the greatest albums of all time. Every song on it is excellent. There is not a single weak link.

Fabulous

Black Dog: Great start to the album, sets tone very well. Super interesting guitar parts, great vocals. Super fun song. Rock and Roll: Also super fun, drums are great. Feels like a mix of 50s-60s rock and the start of 70s rock. feels kind of like a bridge between that. super cool drums at the end. The battle of evermore: great acoustic track, super pretty. Love that they delve more into folk. Different genres across this album are really cool. Stairway to heaven: not much needs to be said here, as overplayed as it is this song is a gem, just perfect. Misty Mountain Hop: Really cool, great vocals and drums specifically Four Sticks: i want to be in a long term relationship with john bohnam Going to California: Super pretty acoustic song, love this so much. Feels beautiful and nostaligic. When the Levee breaks: Super nice guitar and vocals, great closer. Everything about this album is iconic, 5/5 easily. Every song is great, no complaints. Guitar vocals drums and bass all feel perfect, writing is great, the general sound is one of my favorites ever. Perfect rock album.3

All timer

First time I've ever listened to a Led Zeppelin album start to finish. What a dummy I've been.

That’s my shii

That this album is a rock classic of huge cultural importance is an indisputable fact. It's one of those collections of tunes which is so familiar, so recognisable that one can get a little blasé about it, thereby forgetting its true value. So, on listening to it afresh last night, I was struck once more by its sheer unstoppable brilliance. Whist most critics usually reference 'When the levee breaks' as the albums centrepiece, the standouts for me are the more pastoral, folky numbers such as the beautifully delicate 'Going to California' and, especially, 'The Battle of Evermore'. Jimmy Page's wonderfully circular mandolin riff is stunning, as are Sandy Denny's supporting vocals. Another highlight for me is usually unfairly dismissed by critics as a throwaway track, but I think that 'Four Sticks' is a superb showcase for the talents of the whole band, not just John Bonham. And what could be a more powerful opening for an album than the 1...2...of 'Black Dog' and 'Rock 'n' Roll'? The elephant in the room? 'Stairway to Heaven' which has been damned by the 'overfamiliarity' smear. Don't worry, it's still great - particularly the accoustic first half! So, a stone cold 5* classic! Be in no doubt!

Somehow, Zeppelin is a band that I'm way less familiar with than other contemporaries despite listening to those other options quite a bit. My first reaction on listen is that there are several songs (Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Going to California) that I've always loved but never to connect to Led Zeppelin specifically. It's a credit to the album that these songs all feel like a Led Zeppelin song but are different enough to be diverse and interesting on the same album.

This album rocks. At first I thought it was a greatest hits album. Sooooo many good songs in this album.

What else can you say! Neve been equaled.

I loved it -Faves: Stairway To Heaven & Going To California, but enjoyed the rest of the album as well.

A classic. Simple as can be.

It’s a 5. It’s the fastest 5 I could possibly give. Like, I could easily go on about the guitar work, the vocal work, the drum work, and how it all comes together to make one of the greatest rock soundscapes ever, but the strength of this album is simply making its listener feel. This album just enthralled me from start to finish, and that’s a compliment I can give to very few albums. Really, I’m just… kinda speechless. It’s a perfect rock album in the same way that The Low End Theory is a perfect rap album. Pinnacles and bar-setters of a genre for their eras, with a timeless sound to both.

Si l'autre c'était un 5, tu peux parié que lui aussi je mettrai même plus si je pouvais

Que dire?

Becky told me to say “this makes me think of the cottage, I picture all the views. I stomp up the hill to Black Dog. 5*”.

Some of the most overplayed classic rock songs ever. And for damn good reason.

The band’s magnum opus. Every song hits. Stairway is obviously in contention for greatest song of all time, and Going to California is my favorite from Zeppelin. Truly deserves its place in rock history

Excellent album from start to end, I was listening on a plane and made me completely forget about my impending death from falling out of the sky!!!!

A pure classic. Loved all of it.

I have been burnt out on Led Zeppelin for a while now, but every time I put one of their albums on it always surprises me how much I still like them. This album has so many great tracks, and I will never get tired Going to California or When the Levee Breaks

ZEPPELIN FOURRRRRRRR

Absolutely solid all the way through. Not a bad track on the album.

I don't know what I can say about this album. It's amazing. I'd say it's peak Zeppelin, but they have so many other near-perfect albums that I'm not sure I can convince myself that is true. Still, not only are there no bad songs on the album, I'm pretty certain each of them could be a hit single in their own right. Most over-rated song: Stairway to Heaven - Its a brilliant song, but it's success overshadows the rest of this amazing album. Most under-rated song: Battle of Evermore - It's a Tolkien-esque epic in song. I love it. Reminds me of the Battle of Helms-Deep in LOTR.

I knew a lot of these--fun romp.

One of the best albums ever- of course I enjoyed it, TWICE!

Fabulous! Jimmy Page, Robert Plant . . . Legends for all time ! ! !

Best of Led Zeppelin

Iconic Album. Love it

Black Dog - unusual and changing time signature Rock and Roll - simple I-IV-V song seems to refer to older rock songs Stairway to Heaven - classic (features the recorder) Misty Mountain Hop (about legalizing marijuana Four Sticks- 5/4 and 6/8 Going to California- quiet folk song with mandolin (no drums) When The Levee Breaks, 1927 blues song about the great Mississipi Flood of 1927 - my absolute favourite from this album, famously the drums were recorded in a tall stairwell with mics suspended from above.

Always amazing Pleasure to have in class

Good one

I love the sound, lyrics and music. What a great band!!! Each song is so enjoyable. I love rock and roll, so this band ROCKS!

Rock, 1971 -> 5

Amazing.

I’m fairly certain that entire books have been written on Led Zeppelin and their albums. I’m also fairly certain they were better written and more informed than I will ever be. This album is a work of art. I have no favorite tracks, I love this as a whole. 6/5.

Probably the best rock album ever.

Amazing album with some incredible songs

Always awesome ro lsten to. One of my favorites for many many years

Black Dog; Stairway to Heaven; Going to California - all classics. Jimmy Page!

A fucking classic.

The Stairway to heaven and Black dog album! Classics. Also enjoyed: rock and roll, when the levee breaks Lots of energy, classics, and variety in this one. Unlike most 70s-80s rock albums which sound so samey after a while, this one is special. Solid 5*, every track slaps. Stairway to heaven is well known and established as a classic, but it's also a bang-for-your-buck song -- one of those epic songs that feels like has 3-4 great songs in one. Misty mountain hop has such juicy guitars. When the levee breaks has such a cool blues feel

It's hard to hate a Led Zeppelin record, especially one as good as this. A ton of iconic songs as well as some lesser known ones. Great variety and great production.

There is nothing else to say about this one. Perfect

An all time great album. Shorter than i originally expected.

Play the hits! Anyone who has listened to a classic rock station in the last 30 years likely has heard everyone of these songs numerous times and there is a reason for that: each song is solid!

Classic, if indeed overexposed. The best track IMO is Misty Mountain Hop. Maybe because that is the only song that ever resulted in having the cops called on me.

Seminal obvs

oh fuck yeah. Loved this album in high school, haven't listened in probably 15 years. 4.5

Maybe one of the greatest rock albums of all-time.

with this record i will always get fun, energy and redeem my love to music - a masterpiece from humans to humans

If you want a tragic comedy, scroll alllllll the way down to the bad reviews. Poor souls

if there is text here

Classic! Always a good listen.

One of the albums I have essentially memorized top to bottom. Haven't listened all the way through in a while and it was interesting to hear Sandy Dennis on this after the Fairport Convention album. Truly did not appreciate her contribution on this. Remarkable. JPJ's organ on Misty Mountain Hop is underappreciated. I don't want to see documentaries about this. I don't want to biographies authorized or unauthorized. I don't want to read the (probably) too long Wikipedia article. It's just music, man, don't over-think it. Unless you want to, and Led Zeppelin allows that as well. They finally got to jam the folk-rock down our collective ear-holes, though, and we ar BETTER FOR IT.

This may be a perfect album. Start to finish there is barely a misstep, if there are any at all. Phenomenal.

Oh fuck yes!! I could use some Led in my diet today!! This is the first Led Zeppelin album I had. It was a cassette tape. I remember listening to it on the boombox mom got me for my 8th grade graduation gift. I'd listen to it in the car too. I remember having Arturo sind along with me in the car to Stairway to Heaven. Fuck, When the Levee Breaks is so good. 5 stars!

This one is already heard a thousand times. Rock 101.

The Battle of Evermore stands out from the rest of the album, and more so the rest of their body of work that I'm familiar with. It's a fascinatingly stimulating piece that I had never even heard mention of before. While the album is by no means niche, it's interesting that Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven seem to have maintained a level of popularity above the rest. Half of the album almost feels like a folk album, which is interesting to me. those songs aren't the sort I would usually associate with Led Zeppelin, but I heartily enjoyed them, all the same.

Despite the big number on this one being overplayed to the point of self-parody (still a great song), this remains the peak for me of this genre of heavy rock. Crowned by one of the few blues reworks (by this band indeed within the style and times in general) that really rises into something new.

Pretty familiar with this one. Very fond memories of hearing this as a teenager.

Fantastic album. One of the greatest rock and roll classics of all time!

This was a 5/5 when I first heard it when I was 15 and unlike a lot of these albums which don’t hold up, this is still a 5/5 now. Still absolutely amazing.

fantastic

Bangin’ though “Four Sticks” is a bit weak and “When The Levee Breaks” ain’t great except for the slammin’ drums

One of the easiest 5s I’ve given in the course of this project. A legendary band at the very zenith of their power, every song slamming into you like a freight train.

What more can be said about this album that has not been already said. From start to finish this is just one of the most perfect rock albums of all time with some of the greatest tracks in Zeppelin's discography all time. From their biggest tracks like "Stairway to Heaven" and "Black Dog" to the "deep cuts" like "When the Levee Breaks", "The Battle of Evermore" and "Misty Mountain Hop". It has great diversity from song to song in sound, influence and energy. You get the massive, drawn out epics like "Stairway to Heaven", "When The Levee Breaks" or "The Battle of Evermore" contrasting with quick, hard-hitting tracks like "Misty Mountain Hop", "Four Sticks" or "Rock and Roll". I think that IV was their most polished sounding record to this date which is how they were trending after III and it was a good change because their first two records are a little too raw and some of the ideas are a little weakly portrayed. This is such a crisp album with easily the best instrumentation on any of their albums up to this point. I would go as far to say this album could be called the "Thriller" of rock and roll because just like "Thriller" it has tracks that no matter who you are you have probably heard them, those being "Stairway to Heaven" and "Black Dog". I think personally it is the Zeppelin album that has the best performances from both Bonham and Page, who both are at the peak of their powers throughout, with the only competition being "Physical Graffiti". I think though what really makes this album great is just the consistency of it. From start to finish their is not a single bad track and it is one of the albums that I am sort of inclined to listen to from start to finish. Even the lesser known tracks like "When the Levee Breaks", "Four Sticks", and "The Battle of Evermore" are incredible. The only part of this album I dislike is the start of "Misty Mountain Hop" but the song becomes better after a minute or so and it doesn't really ruin the experience. Personally "The Battle of Evermore" is one of those tracks that I truly cannot believe was not as big as others on the album. To me it is top 3 on the album with "Stairway to Heaven" and "When the Levee Breaks". I love how the song builds and I think it is one of the best vocal performances on the album. I also really like the folk influences on the song. In total this is one of the best rock albums of all time and is one of the clearest 10/10s I have heard.

What an incredible rock album. I was expecting just standard dad rock but I was so wrong! John Bonham is incredible.

This album has walked the stairway and will forever be legendary.

This was heaven.

What can I say?

Probably one of the best known Zeppelin albums. It's full of hits, and they're hits for a reason.

Inizialmente mi aspettavo meglio, ma con "Stairway to Heaven" è per forza un capolavoro.

one of my favorite albums ever

Pretty good

Brilliant album that never hets repetitive or boring. «When the Levee breaks» is a new favourite of mine.

Ремек дело 10/10

A masterpiece amongst masterpiece, by one of the greatest band of all times. With is iconic artwork and symbols that Led Zep use cause they were tired of bad critics, even with that, the album was a tsunami in term of sales (38 millions wordwide), the best Led Zep sellers. This album altough called Led Zeppelin IV, officialy don't have a name. This album only have 8 songs, but it didn't need more, all those songs could be greatest hits some fo the best solos, lyrics and riff figure in this album I will describe all those song to show how good this reccord is The openning is Black Dog, a hard rock classic, iconic Muddy Waters inspired riff, some dark and diabolical lyrics, its the pinnacal of what a Led Zeppelin song should be. Its ranked aongst the best sogn of all times and you understand why very quiclky Rock And Roll is even more hard rock, THE most hard song Led Zeppelin ever has, on this on we have to credited the incredible drums part by Bonham, the solo is particulary impressive too. It was written as a response to medias critisising the most accousitc folk rock of the previous album. The Battle Of Evermore, there is so much originals thing about this song, first its based of a Madolin riff, with a guest folk singer Sandy Denny to accomopagny Plant on vocals. Here the intersting part is the lyrics, a story ijnspred by scottish independance wars and possibloy Lord Of the Rings, an evil vs good type of story, apparantly Plant's vocal part represent the narrator of the story, and Denny's part represent the people affected by the war. What to say about Stairway To Heaven, This song could have been the only reason why this album is consider on of the best of all times. I will go very simply, everything on this song, every band members contribution, intruments, lyrcs is play, sing and placed perfectly. The Intro, Midde part, solo and outro are just so well placed togheter to created a thing that is just out of this world. There is no song out there that could compete with this, its a disrespect to all those songs Stairway to Heaven is on top of the rock world, the ultimate song, honneslty i hope i would have alzhiemer to be hable to ear it the first time again. Misty Mountain hop, is i think on of the only song in Led Zeppelin carrer that explicitly reference drugs, in this case weed. Its my least favorite of the album, but the least good song on Led Zeppeling IV is still a pretty solid good song. More Hippish kinda lyrics, also with Lord of the Rings influenced, another reason to like this band. Four Sticks has an amazing guitar riff, on of my faorite by Led Zep, but it also contain a fantastic synth part by John Paul Jones, and the chorus is accoutic and when it turn back to electric is minf blowing i think, pretty mjuch underated and not often perfomed in live, still a magnificent song. Going to California show use how good they are, a slow quiet song, could be consider as folk rock, a love declaration to Folk singer Joni Mitchell. Its a beautifull song, but a beautifull guiatr part, the mandolin make us dream and Plant's voice make us wanting to go to an iydilic California. When the Leaves Breaks is good because of Bonham druming once again, the riff is loud and powerfull but the drum intro is one of his best. With that all said, this album could only be describe by himself, by lsitening to it and 100% sure you are going to be amaze by this piece of art by Led Zeppelin. Its a collection of 8 insanly good songs, magical and perfect, i will always remeber what this album make me feel like.

Listened to this a lot aged 16/17 (c1985) I can confirm that I still cannot listen to the Stairway guitar solo without being on my feet air guitarist like a badass. I didn’t know what a levee was when I originally listened to this album. Bit more meaningful post Katrina Fave track - Misty Mountain Hop

One of the most influential and iconic albums in modern music. A well rounded blend of folk and hard rock showcasing Led Zeppelin's peak of musical development. Always good

She really was buying a stairway to heaven
