1001 Albums Summary

Long album, lots of potential here that I can't fully appreciate in just one day. I can tell every song is good, not sure yet which will click and be great. Time will tell but I'm not sure any are as good as Living For the City. Favorites: Pastime Paradise, Village Ghetto Land

I was happy when it was over

Already knew some of these songs and “Till Death Do Us Part” was a good new find. I probably won’t come back to this one but I enjoyed it for what it was

I really wanted to like this so I listened on repeat all day but I was never blown away. Oh well. I really enjoyed Chest Fever and wished more songs were like it. I mildly enjoyed Tears of Rage but not enough to add it to my Spotify liked songs

Was lovely in the background of Crash Bandicoot but upon further listening I just wished it was The Beatles Favorite song: It Happens Each Day

Didn't know until today that Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed are two different people. I find Lou Reed wildly boring and so when I got this rec I was expecting Velvent-Underground-boringness but I had the wrong guy! I was pleasantly surprised with this, but likely would've given it a 3 if my little mix up didn't put expectations on the floor. I really liked "Sing Another Song, Boys" and "Avalanche" was nice. I'll be back but only when I'm in looking to feel a very particular sad way

I couldn't stand this Only ok song: "Less Than Zero" but even that I probably won't touch again 2025 edit: I gave this 1 star before experiencing a true 1 star album. 2 stars

April 6: I get this album and it doesn't hit. I wait to be in a better mood and leave it unrated. May 16: Maggie shows me Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore's collaboration with Bernie Sanders. This makes me want to like Sonic Youth even more. +1 stars for this June 1: Accepting defeat. It stressed me out

Our villa got robbed and then we filed a report in broken Italian to the Carabinieri and then we listened to this album and I think that’s what this album was created for. +1 stars for good timing

Day 1 thoughts: I begrudgingly gave Led Zeppelin IV 5 stars since everyone else did, Stairway rocks, and I knew every other song (even though I wouldn’t seek out the other songs). On this album, I only knew Immigrant Song going in and the others seem more promising than I expected. Proggier vibes, reminds me of ELP at times. I need to listen more times to determine my thoughts Many days later: really like Friends. Still need more work on this album but it's about time I rate it

Constantly alternating between pretty good and annoying, which is exhausting. I'd maybe enjoy this more if I heard one song at a time, instead of the whole album at once.

Not bad but nothing stood out over the songs I already knew (Tonight Tonight, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, 1979). Granted, songs that stand out usually do so on the second or later listens and I only listened once because this was two whole hours

Years ago after listening to the Rivals podcast on Neil Young vs Lynyrd Skynyrd, I listened to Southern Man for the first time and thought it was so boring. This time it was so good

Take It Easy and Peaceful Easy Feeling are nice enough but the rest was more boring than expected
