Great album.

Banger and banger. About as close as you can get to perfect album. Every song is amazing.

Hard rock done by the masters.

Album 258 of 1001 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV Rating : 5 / 5 LEAST Favorite Track : The Battle of Evermore Great album. Who can argue? I can only point out the track I liked the least. Can't really claim a total favorite, but I do lean towards Going to California a bit.

One of the greatest rock albums of all time. Maybe not my personal favorite, but the best album thats come up for us so far.

Incredible album. Seriously one of the best constructions. Great diversity of sound, wonderful recordings, good structures, and under 45 minutes

Half the album is made up of their best songs and the other half is really good. Not much more to say.

made me who i am

The whole thing is amazing

It’s impossible to rate this anything but a 5. Everything and everybody is killer in this thing, and this track list is INSANE! Perfect album! Everybody who wants to get into music should listen to this at least once. By everybody, I mean EVERYBODY. Listen to it!

Neke od najboljih gitara verovatno ikada. Plus najpoznatija rok pesma ikada.

Absolutely class

Lousy with masterpieces, this record more or less seals the deal on their being the best pure rock band of all time. What a canon, I-IV, unparalleled for quality in conception and ferocity in execution (except where tenderness was the goal). Here, the power of the hooks, the fundamentals working so seamlessly and performing at such a peak can seem overwhelming. Could the band do no wrong, commit no mediocrity? Plus, the diversity and texture – "Battle for Evermore" and "Going to California" offer variation and respite from the heavy infantry, but are finessed to near perfection on their own terms (especially the gorgeous yearning of the latter, perfectly balancing melancholia and optimism, the search for worthy satisfactions. Not only not an ill note played in the entirety, but not an instant of filler, it all pertains and matters with some intensity. “Stairway to Heaven” is the ultimate rock cliche, but sustains its majesty; listening with fresh ears (and a non-ironic posture), one hears understatement (not the most frequent Zeppelinesque quality) in the solo, and the first hints of the jangly indie rock ears. The structure is magisterial, symphonic. “Levee Breaks” is a solid closer, and holds well with the classics all about. The best singer, the best guitarist, mad-genius composer and a unimpeachable, granitic rhythm section – they had the goods and delivered time and again. It was once one's favorite band. One's long since left the genre behind, but this remains, an unadulterated classic.

Every song on here is good, no questions asked. Sure, some are better than others, but in my opinion, none are skips and sound good in their own right. A perfect album is one that does not have skips, and this one certainly doesn't.

Favorite Led Zeppelin album - Black Dog and Going to California are my two favorite Led Zeppelin songs. One of the cardiothoracic surgeons I worked with often played Rock and Roll and when the song came on would always say “you know guys… it’s been a long time since I’ve rocked and rolled” while preforming open heart surgery. Badass.

I've been telling anyone who would listen that Led Zeppelin is overrated but this album shut me the hell up.

Just class

Any album with LoTR references has a place in my heart. One that has these references and some of the greatest rock songs of all time is an absolute treat to consume. Not a single second of filler on this record, it’s excellent musically, lyrically and thematically.

One of the greatest albums of all time with four of the absolute best at their craft at their peaks. This album is such a big deal that your opinion on it starts to feel like it doesn’t matter because the album just _is_ Noting: their version of When the Levee Breaks is a testament to drumming and is also one of my favorite songs, period

Zeppelin 4. Enough said.

Easily in the top 10 of all time! All killer, no filler.

Damn...why did I make a declaration three days ago stating, "Physical Graffiti is Zepp's best album."? Stupid me.

There’s no denying the impact, influence, and, frankly, immortality of this album, so don’t even try.

Reminds me of Mom; a classic

It's like blues rock meets Lord of the Rings.

Love this. One of the best!

Led Zeppelin is so good they emerged from the trash fire of classic rock radio unscathed. It’s so good people listened to it backwards. Rock n roll baby. 5 stars.

The fucking Mona Lisa of popular music.

What a great album. Each song I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Classics.

Stairway is not half bad when you’re listening to it on purpose.

Instant 5 star, leaning toward 6-7 stars haha. Led Zeppelin IV is possibly my favorite album of all time. Other contenders for #1 would be Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles, Morning Phase by Beck, and Lonesome Dreams by Lord Huron. I’ve listened to IV dozens of times, often sitting on the couch doing nothing else but listening. The mystery, mysticism, and sheer rock and roll power are gripping. During evenings of solitude I often listen to this record followed by Puccini’s Turandot. Something about the juxtaposition of classic rock and classic opera on a late night is magical. LZ has some great history/mythology, and their quality of music far surpasses anything even close to comparable. This truly is the Hammer of the Gods. Jimmy Page as the musical and production mastermind, also clocking in some of the best guitar work ever seen. Robert Plant with an incredible head of hair and even better voice (still putting out very high quality solo and collab work today). John Bonham with groundbreaking drumming approach, and John Paul Jones the least interesting member of the band but still doing good work on bass. My favorites on this album are ever changing, but Battle of Evermore is a haunting favorite and Four Sticks has some great vocal work. And all of the rest as well, haha. Not a bad song on this record, and definitely best enjoyed when listened to all the way through. I wish the rating scale went higher than five; this one is on a whole other level.

This album is awesome! I haven't listened to much led zeppelin before I started this project but they are very quickly rising to my favorite classic rock band. Sometimes I struggle with long songs (6+ minutes) but I had zero problems with these because they didnt stop for a 4 minute solo and I could jam the whole way through.

Alr listened

Lot of these songs are truck commercials songs

Didnt know 3 songs in it, listening to them now but dont care, the other songs already make this an overwhelming 10/10

This was the first record and band I was obsessed with. Still a 5/5, although as I’ve grown older the more I think that Stairway is the worst song on it.

- All time classic and one of the first albums I listened back to back. Immensely important for me growing up. Amazing!

More consistent than III, more varied than II. Not a massive fan of the LOTR nonsense to be honest, and Stairway is kind of played out but this is a fantastic rock album for the most part - whole band firing on all cylinders. Take a shot every time Planty says ‘baby’!

A top 5 all time album

fuck its so good i gotta be one of those led zeppelin guys now huh

Thoughts before listening: This was one of the earliest albums I ever bought and definitely the first Zeppelin album I ever owned. In college I had a professor ask us to bring in an example of of the quintessential rock n roll song and I brought in Rock n Roll from this album. Review: This is a classic. Every song on here is iconic, even something like the Battle of Evermore which is a definite departure from the typical Zeppelin sound. The combination of heavy rock with folk inspired sounds was revolutionary for the time and has always set Zeppelin apart from the other early hard rock bands. This is a definite 5 star album and all songs are getting added to the playlist.

How could this be anything else than a 5 star

Incroyable cet album presque que des bangers

I see why it's a classic, but i wouldn't listen to the album front-to-back today

I don't think there is a classic rick album that can top this.

Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Going to California, and of course Stairway to Heaven are all staples on the local classic rock station. Those are all great. I also liked Misty Mountain Hop (Kiss' Ugh! All Night borrows the riff from it) and When the Levee Breaks (Beatie Boys' Rhymin' and Stealin' borrows the drums from it). The only one I didn't really care for was the Battle of Evermore.

For many of us, this one is easy to file under rock cliche or heap it on the pile of obvious contenders for GOAT and dismiss it. In fact, I can remember rather clearly as a young kid, I was maybe 11, buying this album in a record store and the teenager working in the shop giving me a little attitude for making such a "basic" choice — at least that was how I interpreted it. But god damn, this is an unbelievably good record. I don't remember the last time I listened to Zeppelin's version of "Stairway," and man, that build up to the solo, the progression of that song to that point, is as dramatic as it gets, and the payoff is astounding. Jones' "Black Dog" riff is killer, the drums sounds all over are something else but on "Levee" ... holy crap. Robert Plant is singing about all sorts of mystical shit (still amazes that he was 23 when he was writing and recording this). And this is Page at his finest. And "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Battle of Evermore" — I guess I've just about listed every song. So, as Scott so eloquently said about "Abbey Road," if this isn't a 5, what does a band have to do to earn it?

Guys, it's Zeppelin IV.

Every song still slaps! This is my kind of rock and roll and Stairway to Heaven (like Sgt. Pepper) just never gets old or trite. The mix of rock with Tolkien vibes is the kind of place I'd love to live...or maybe I do. Almost 20 years ago, Andre and I got married and then walked off stage to Misty Mountain Hop

Classic. My memories of my youth are tied to this.

Overall, an album to help explore and understand western music culture and post-Beatles rock in the 1970s. You do need to "commit to the bit" with this album - take time out to listen to it with an open mind. I have done so, many times over many years. Here's my review. No alcohol was consumed during or prior to these musings. Black Dog: Whisky music. You can't dance to it. Can't sing to it. Can't eat to it. You can drink to it. Ice will make a lovely clinking sound you'll be able to just make out over the screaming and the constant whine of tinnitus. Rock n Roll Should come with a warning - "Do Not Attempt To Drive under the influence of Rock n Roll". Just shred your license, and / or set an airbag off in your face. I defy anyone to drive sanely whilst this is playing. Coroner's reports from 1974-1981 showed 8% increase in car accident deaths in skinny white males without a partner. This song is the reason motorcycles don't have sound systems, or ashtrays. Battle of Evermore Little known fact - this song was the reason the skip button was invented. Honour the inventors now and use it for its intended purpose. Stairway to Heaven I like Buckets The Drummer's version: https://youtu.be/wYVVG0DlRSI?si=nXeqxy4mICUJwaQe Maybe you're on the second whisky now? Good build in the song. This is a very musical album from an interesting period of rock and western modern history. A relevant time capsule showcasing influences on modern music. Bring back the bridge! Misty Mountain Hop Get another glass. Tomorrow morning will hurt, mortals. Pretend you know the words, scream along. Four Sticks Sounds like Jimmy lost his song sheet and stubbed his toe. Going to California Sweet banjo and guitar work. Really listenable. Pleasant funeral outro music for someone raised Davidian in Waco, or for Charles Manon. When the Levee Breaks A good song. Sounds like it was fun to record. Harmonica, bluesy guitar and a steady driving drum beat, bright cymbals. Nice guitar flourish at the end. Would have been a great signal to the listener when this was released originally on vinyl.

An all time classic. Not a bad song in the bunch

That's why they call it classic rock!!!

What an absolute masterpiece. I'll admit I'm biased here because I love the Zep, I love Tolkien and John Bonham is the drummer I probably idolised the most growing up. bombastic and beautiful. This is one of the albums I most wish I could hear for the first time again. Solid 10/10

All time classic

I’d been learning guitar for just over two years when I got together with two of my friends and had the bright idea of covering “Stairway to Heaven” at a school concert. I just about scraped through the opening, flubbed a few notes. I couldn’t play the climactic solo, so we left it out. And I couldn’t sing the final vocals at Robert Plant’s pitch, so I did them an octave down as a group of nonplussed mums and dads looked on. We ended on a final, limp A minor chord, to scattered applause and a sarcastic “amazing” from Callum Tatchell, the cheeky sod. For a long time afterwards, I struggled to listen to “Stairway to Heaven” without cringing. It was like being rejected by the most attractive girl in school, and then never being able to look her in the eye again. My point is, every guitarist has a “Stairway to Heaven” story. In fact, I would bet on every aspiring rock musician yearning to emulate the sheer swagger of Led Zeppelin, and mostly failing spectacularly. And exactly which gawky teenage boy hasn’t longed for a scrap of the power, mysticism and virtuosity the band display on this astonishing fourth album? Every time I hear “Led Zeppelin IV”, I become a kid in awe of his idols. I’ve bounced along to “Black Dog” so many times and I still don’t understand exactly how the band managed to play along with that mighty John Paul Jones riff. The exhilarating “Rock and Roll” is made to be played at earsplitting volume: it blows the roof off every time, and the closing Bonham drum fill is one for the ages. And then the two softer numbers, “The Battle of Evermore” and “Going to California”, have a beautiful tenderness which the band excel in just as much as the hard-rocking side (Page on mandolin is as gripping as his “Stairway” solo). “Misty Mountain Hop” is one of the most immediate melodies on the record, with one of my favourite Zeppelin choruses around. And “When the Levee Breaks”, with Bonham’s drums famously recorded at the bottom of a stairwell on overhead mics, is my favourite of all: formidable, colossal, unassailable. Led Zeppelin had an incredible run as a band across their first six albums, but this one captures them at their very best. Almost every song here belongs on a “Greatest Hits” collection: exceptionally written, exceptionally performed, exceptionally produced. It will never not grip me in its mighty grasp. …oh, and I suppose “Stairway to Heaven” isn’t so bad either.

Oh, Zeppelin. This is a favorite of mine. There's something about Zeppelin that sets them apart from the rest of their rock contemporaries. I've never been able to put my finger on it, something just clicks for me.

The rock classics just keep coming. A masterpiece.

Obra maestra

Loved “When The Levee Breaks”. What a way to end the album!

Took me two listens and I was completely hooked.

These instrumentals make me want to cum

LZ's most famous album

Mammoth album!!! For sure in my top 10 albums of all time, there’s just not a single bad thing about it. Led Zeppelin was one of a kind, great musicianship, great singing and even better songwriting. Bonham to me is especially inspiring being a drummer! Terrific rock songs with a great knack of melody! 9,5 out of 10

It’s no surprise that this is the greatest selling rock album of all time, with its three mega-hits and strong supporting songs. There’s good variety – from rock n’ roll to prog to folk. I especially like bringing Sandy Denny in as co-vocalist on “The Battle of Evermore”. I’ve heard the LP many times, but this time around John Bonham’s drumming stood out. Back in the day, I thought he had a big sound but was too minimalist for me. Now he’s spot on.

An old fav

When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of 'Led Zeppelin IV'

Rating in spite of Stairway, not because of

5 Nothing more. Nothing less.

Led Zeppelin IV is an absolute rock masterpiece that still resonates with timeless brilliance. From the iconic opening of "Black Dog" to the thunderous climax of "When the Levee Breaks," this album showcases Zeppelin's musical prowess. "Stairway to Heaven" remains an epic, a journey from serene acoustic beginnings to a soaring crescendo. "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Rock and Roll" exude energy and grit. With Page's electrifying guitar work, Plant's wailing vocals, Bonham's thunderous drumming, and Jones's versatile bass, this album defines classic rock. It's a sonic adventure, an album you can revisit endlessly. A true gem in the rock pantheon.

Another classic

Essential Tracks: When the Levee Breaks (Playlist) Just listen to the whole thing

This album was a part of my childhood, father and uncles are hug Led Zeppelin fans so it was ever present. The arrangements and ups and downs are calculated to make you feel what they want. The album starts in a haze with Black Dog and Rock and roll to get you hyped up, then some slower songs to keep things mellow and closing out with a banger. One of if not the best Led Zeppelin album

Love this. Could listen to it any day.

THE classic rock album but also it's own unique sound. A religious experience

played out for a reason

Feels slightly churlish to give less than the full 5.

Don't even need to listen. This is one of the most epic albums of all time!

A timeless classic of an album. No skips, volume up.

Fantastic

Incredible album! Outstanding guitar, drums, vocals, and more. Every song was an awesome journey.

Who doesn't love some classic rock and roll. Led Zepplin is about as classic as they come in terms of rock and this album was great from start to finish. There's not much to say only because all the songs hit amazing. This is the kind of album you listen to, to get you ready for the day. Stand out tracks: Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, but honestly all of them were great.

5/5. Masterpiece. Not a wasted song on the album.

A mammoth. The peak of 70s hard rock. A landmark in music and popular culture. Led Zeppelin never sounded as great and cohesive as in IV. All killer no filler.

c'mon. it's stairway to heaven.

I love my parents but they never listened to western music, so I have never really engaged in music from before I was born in the 90’s until, well, now. which just kinda means that when I find albums from before then that I like so much, I also feel a bit of envy of those who were able to grow up with it. anyway, this I really like this album

5) Prefiro Misty Mountains do LOTR. 6) Chata, repetitiva. Album tá caindo, depois de músicas épicas. 7) Essa eu curto pra caralho. Vibe tranquilinha, uma road trip. Músicas sobre a California são simbólicas pra mim. "Flowers in her hair", muito boa referência. "Standin' on a hill in the mountain of dreams, Tellin' myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems."

When the Levee Breaks finaliza o álbum de forma sólida e honesta, sem pressa.

This album is a classic

I would rate this 10/5 if I could. Love Led Zeppelin to bits.

Essential Led Zeppelin! Every song is a rock classic and shows why Led Zeppelin is one of the best Rock Bands of All Time!

I already know the first song. I wonder how many off this album I will know well. were they all hits? Second song was also a radio hit Great Album, tons of hits. Even the ones I didn't recognize were great

So good, classic, amazing, yes

This album has Stairway to Heave, the best song ever

Led Zeppelin 4 Great album. Haven’t heard it in years forgot about some of the great songs like Four Sticks and Going to California-and those were probably my two favorites this time. John Bonham and Jimmy Page’s feel and parts are so obviously so great and iconic but also John Paul Jones is kinda underrated. His bass parts glue everything together so perfectly and are totally interesting on but never really stick out.

Could probably write a book about this record. Rock n roll at its finest. When the levee breaks is one of the greatest moments in recorded history, especially the drums. So many iconic riffs and songs in this record. I’ve listened to these songs so many times, but I can’t imagine what it feels like to hear this record for the first time. Still gives me chills

So great. Favorite is when the levee breaks.

This is an album I have definitely heard before and enjoyed. Still a worthwhile effort to sit down and put into words what I like about it. Highlights: Black Dog - this is a fascinating song where the guitars and vocals seemingly trade off on the lead part, sort of like two guitars dueling solos off each other. Rock and Roll - Everyone has heard bits of this in a commercial at some point, but listening to the full song is a really enjoyable time. Guitars and drums are fantastic. The Battle of Evermore - This celtic flavored track is super tight. It flexes Led Zep's ability to stretch genres quite well, all in a war ballad about Lord of the Rings. Hell yeah. Stairway to Heaven - Every asshole guitar store owner's least favorite song. A calming ballad with fantastic pick work for 3/4's of the song, before the brakes fall off. The solo at 6 minutes in is the stuff of legends. Lowlights: Can't think of any. Final Thoughts: Genuinely one of the best rock albums of all time. Each track is great-to-fantastic, and together they make an amazing 43 minutes.

Of course it's a great album.

Amazing, sadly have to skip stairway but it’s a classic

I can tell how excellent this is. The complexity of music, the amount I want to headbang along to it for some songs, and just sink into the couch for others. But it's been played so much that I can't help but be reminded of all the 70s-set movies (both good and bad) its songs are featured in. It distracts from the music.

Just a great album. I've been trying hard to analyze all the albums for my ratings and put some thought into it... I didn't really have to think about this one, it just sounds good all the way around. I know Stairway to Heaven gets all the love, but man I also really enjoyed The Battle of Evermore

Best Led Zeppelin album! I didn’t love the band when I was younger (even though I’ve always loved rock from this time period), but I’ve learned to appreciate their music more the older I get. Definitely a 5-star and one of the best albums I’ve heard.

Easily 5 star. One of the top 5 albums of all time. Rock n' roll, black dog, STAIRWAY. When the Levee breaks is an awesome closer. Possibly the GOAT

Great album with no skip tracks. Excellent album with lots of classic songs.

Amazing album!

Rock 10/10

5 stars duh.

Classic oldie that I remember listening to growing up. Glad to be able to re-experience the music all these years later.

What more needs to be said?

Classic guitar rock. No Stairway!

"When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV" There aren't many albums that I absolutely LOVE /EVERY/ /SINGLE/ /SONG/, and Led Zeppelin IV is on that list. A classic. What else can be said?

Not even their "best" album but still changed rock music.

LOVE this album

Probably one of the greatest pure Rock and Roll albums of all time. Not a weak track on it (maybe "Stairway to Heaven" just because that song got so worn out). Has my favorite Led Zeppelin song of all time on this album, "Going to California". I would like this album much, much more if it wasn't for the fact that I listened to it about 10,000 times from 1990-1996.

Not fucking around, this has gotta be in the Top 10 albums of all time

Close to perfection. Zeppelin's legitimate shot at the title of greatest rock band, where they seemingly tackle every style available and ended up with the best power ballad, folk duet, blues cover, rock anthem and acoustic track about heading to California, among others. An album so remarkable it merited its very own postage stamp. I've heard these songs hundreds of times, maybe even more, and I never tire of them.

no question

About as near to perfection that an album can get.

This is what the list is all about 5/5 even though I like House's of the Holy more

How can you be groovin' and flyin' at the same time ?? 9/10

What is there to say, it’s fucking Led Zeppelin IV!

Legendary.

Easy 5. Great album.

I own this album and as usual, Led Zeppelin gives off a mysterious aura and trickles poetry in some of the most beautifully composed music. The harder songs are classic 70s rock hits that you can't go wrong with. Robert Plant's unique voice and Jimmy Page's electric guitar are a powerful duo.

One of those true perfect albums

A singular great in a standout career. If you listen to one Zeppelin album, I think this is the one. And it spawned the "Stairways to Heaven" anthology. Another of the all time greats.

Amazing

Such an amazing record from an amazing band, possibly at their peak. Stairway has become a bit of a cliche but no less of an achievement. Truly special. Instant 5.

One of the all time greats

Favorite Songs are Black Dog, and Going to California.

Can't knock it

One of the best rock albums, and in my opinion probably the best from Led Zeppelin. Every song is amazing, timeless riffs and intense vocals.

Well, this is the OG album with Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, The Battle of Evermore, When the Levee Breaks, Going to California. Some of Led Zep's best works!

Never listened to this as an album before, but have all the tracks in different places.

Awesome

This album has a buzz and exuberance in abundance, it exudes passion and sex that screams for you to pay attention and indeed I will to my dying breath.

Having crossed into the 70s proper, it's harder to levy the "ahead of their time" praise I like to use for them, but it's pretty much impossible for me to come up with anything bad to say about this one, it's a great time

Fantastic album. Nearly every track is a winner.

It's been a very very long time since I listen to this album, anyone over the age of 40 has been bombarded by most of these songs for a long time, radio, sprting events, commercials, etc. Though to sit back and actually listen to the album has been very enjoyable. I loved this album when I was an early teenager and I'll admit I still do.

Every time I hear this record it takes me back to 7th grade when I first became aware of it in earnest. We’re all tired to death of Stairway to Heaven, and honestly most of this record… but after not hearing it for a few years it’s enduring qualities are clear. There are many great elements on this record, everything that made Led Zeppelin legendary, but what really stands out to me for some reason is the opening drum on When the Levee Breaks. Damn, it’s cool.

Not sure what classic rock radio would sound like without this album. It's the definitive Zeppelin record. Stairway is almost bigger then the band.

One of the easiest 5 stars I'll give this entire challenge. Led Zeppelin produced an unbeliveable amount of great music in the three year span between I and IV, but this one is my favorite. Maybe that makes a little basic, but I don't care. Stairway doesn't even bug me when you hear it in the context of the album (and the only time it ever bugs me is just because it's so overplayed.) Just a great album start to finish.

Amazing album that I could listen to over and over again. One of the greatest of all time

This album starts with a bit of a southern/country twang, and then it falls into a more fantasy-esque sound with the mandolin from Battle of Evermore until Going to California. Afterwards it switches back into that rock n' roll style. I like this album more than Led Zeppelin I. I already dinged that one a star for having stolen songs, but I won't do it here.

One of my favorite all time albums that I have listened to about 50 times. Every song is absolutely great in its own way. And it ends perfectly with one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time with When the Levee Breaks

Oh man some of my favorite Zeppelin songs of all time are on here, honestly a few that are insanely overplayed or were used in a Cadillac commercial but insanely good songs nonetheless. Black Dog is a quintessential song by these guys and that solo at the end rips. Rock n Roll is that aforementioned Cadillac song. Feel like I should like this song a way more as its a fuckin BOP but growing up hearing it on that commercial ruined part of it for me. Still a jam just never one I am going out of my way to listen to. Love the slow down and mandolin presence on Battle of Evermore. Def grew up loving this one. Don't think much needs to be said about Stairway to Heaven so I'll spare you all. Just will mention when the drums come in I am close to busting one. Iconic song. OOOOOOOoooooooo another one of my faves I love the noises Plant makes in Misty Mountain Hop. Four Sticks isn't one I come back to often but damn it's a jam with that riff. Love it. Going to California always reminds me of the episode of That 70's Show with Jessica Simpson and her beach jugs. Really like it on this album though its a great juxtaposition with some of the harder tracks. Fuck yeah When the Levee Breaks. I took acid at Firefly one time and was stuck in my car during a nasty ass storm. I kept playing songs about raining/water/ect and this song is forever ingrained in my brain from that. Badass.

Top Ten all time!

Classic rock peaked in 1971 with this one.

… and just like that rock would never be the same again.

What's great about this album, is that every song sounds unique and yet fits on it. Jimmy Page's guitar-work is still as timeless as it was back in 1971, and Robert Plant's vocals are still as unique and cool today. You can't not tap your feet or nod your head whilst listening to this album, and that is thanks to the incredible drumming by John Bonham which inspired an entire generation of kids and adults alike to learn the drums. Led Zeppelin chose that name because they thought they'd never get off the ground, and this album showed that they were still as humble and playful as they were when they first started. Instant 5 stars

Zeppelin 4. Nuff said

Amazing!

Of course it's a classic! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! THOSE DRUMS ON WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS!!

Flawless? No. Masterpiece? Yes. When the levee breaks always gives me chills and leaves me wanting more.

Much needed after the past week. No flaws. When I criticize people for saying they’re the greatest of all time, remind me to listen to this album.

Much like: Boston - Boston ACDC - Back In Black The Who - Who's Next Pink Floyd - Dark Side... this album has been abused, overplayed, stretched beyond limits, beaten to death, overanalyzed, overfawned, and because of all this - ignored by me for the last 30 years. I probably haven't put Zeppelin IV on voluntarily since college? Every time freaking "Rock and Roll" comes on in the car I can't jab my finger at the radio to get away from it fast enough. Then you put this record on again in its complete form and listen all the way through - not just the big/overplayed singles - at top volume and know why if this were the last album you ever heard you'd be thinking "...yeah it was a good life..." Legendary. 10/10 5 stars.

Classic after classic after classic after classic after classic after classic after classic after classic

No bad songs.

Classic

Nice vibe, very much 70/80s rock. You have to be in the right mood for it but then it's really good. Stairway to heaven is of course a masterpiece. It's giving "superhero squad comes in to save the world and the shot is filmed in slow motion to make it seem cooler" vibes.

Driving, melodic, and a trip on the way back machine,

It doesn't get much better than this

Stairway is a standout but also has battle of evermore, black dog, going to California and to finish on when the levee breaks - what an album, still sounds great today

Not necessarily the best Led Zeppelin album, but for sure it contains their best song: When the Levee Breaks, which got sampled 240 times according to whosampled.com. I do not know the original version of this song, but the LZ version just sounds great. Of course STH, Black Dog, Rock N Roll are 5 star and the rest is in the 3-4 star range. score: 9/10

On a first listen I was not overly impressed, but with the second listen I was more in the mood and loved it. Together with Physical Graffiti my two favourite Zeppelin albums so far.

Come on this is too easy. If you don't appreciate this record you probably don't have a pulse. One of the finest collection of rock songs ever recorded by one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

Not a single skip, this album is a masterpiece and essential listening for any music fan. The riffs, the vocals, the drumming, everything is in top form. It's a mosaic of eight stellar tracks that put their talents on full display.

Has a couple of weak cuts but it's a surefire way to get kicked out of Guitar Center.

Quintessential What can I say that hasn’t been said before. No record collection should be without.

Has so much to enjoy. Amazing drums. LZ is often overrated but this particular album is deserves the hype.

Man, what is there to say about IV a.k.a. Led Zeppelin a.k.a. Zoso a.k.a Symbols? I adore this album. It's one of the most important albums for me because it taught me so much about the dark side of music. I remember the first time I heard Stairway backwards and couldn't sleep all night or when When the Levee Breaks first melted my mind. This deserves every accolade it's earned in its lifetime. I can wax poetic about this album but ultimately I's just be retreading well trodden ground. 10

Gostei tanto que vou ateh dar o nome de Zeppelin pra minha gata

Fourth studio album released in 1971. Phenomenal musicianship.

I am no Zep hater. This is a monster

Maybe the best album of all time.

Classic

6 out of 5

Never my fave Zep album, always been between I and III for me. Still a fantastic album, but there's a few too many weak points for it to be one of the best ever. Black Dog is a good opener but gets old after a few too many listens. Rock n Roll is good at best - often it's a bit simplistic and repetitive, which often results in a skip. Evermore actually pleasantly surprised me this playthrough, I've always regarded as the second weakest track but this time I was into it. Perhaps my expectations were so low. Reminded me of some of the stuff from II/III. Stairway, perhaps controversially, I think also gets old after so many listens. Great song the first 50 times but I don't think I've ever searched for it to put it on since my days of streaming music began. Misty Mountain Hop is definitely the low point, the only track on the album that I would say is categorically bad. Four Sticks is a bit better but not by a long way. Finally we arrive at the pinnacle of the album, California and Levee being the perfect album closers, possibly two of Zeps greatest songs. These two are what save the album, and stop it from slipping into 4* territory.

Classic alert! One of their best albums. It does of course have their most famous track on it, but it also doesn't really have a weak track on it

No way to not give 5-stars to the album that contains Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, and When the Levee Breaks. Real guitar - Page one of the best, Real drums - Bonham may be the best, and young Robert Plant. These guys were unreal.

Some good rock music. Going to California is tied with Ramble On for my favorite LZ song. Stairway honestly deserves every accolade it gets. Rock and Roll, Black Dog, When the Levee Breaks are all perfect rock. A must listen to album.

The definition of Classic Rock n' Roll, never been a big fan of Zepelin, but sorry, you can't get over this one. A total banger. Fav Tracks: Rock n' Roll, Stairway to heaven, Going to California,

Can you dislike an album and still think it's a 5 star? I've never connected with zeppelin, but so many of these songs are pervasive in our culture.

It doesn’t get any better than this

Own on Vinyl

When I was a teenager and first heard this album all the way through (almost twenty years after it's release), I actually thought it was a "best of" compilation. Every song was perfect. I still love it.

BEST SONGS: -Four Sticks -The Battle of Evermore

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, Lord Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan It's got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home Oh well, oh well, oh well Don't it make you feel bad When you're tryin' to find your way home You don't know which way to go? If you're goin' down south They got no work to do If you're going down to Chicago GOAT album right here. 5/5

Fünf Sterne Deluxe!

5.0 + Nothing to complain about here. Just an impeccable rock record. It’s got “Stairway” for Chrissakes!

Classic

Classic

love it

Almost no bad tracks here. Black Dog has one of the best riffs in hard rock. Rock and Roll is unstoppable.

Not just a classic Led Zeppelin album Zeppelin IV is one of the most iconic classic albums of all time. It's jam packed with great songs, not the least of which is "Stairway to Heaven". Their blues chops are truly on display on "When the Levee Breaks" and they go flat out prog rock on "The Battle of Evermore". "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll" are hard rockers and "Going to California" is quiet and sweet. This is the full package. Some people might eschew this album because "Stairway" has been violently overplayed. It's still a great song from one of the best rock albums of all time. Don't let overindulgence keep you from a near perfect rock album experience.

Led Zeppelin at the peak of their powers. A masterpiece.

Well it's perfect isn't it

10/10 - Iconic.

One of my favorite albums of all time. I love all of it.

One of the GOATS. Nothing I can say that hasn't been said.

The best

Easiest 5 so far. So many classics and the album is great from the beginning to the end.

One of the greatest of all time.

Si este no es vinilo, ninguno lo es.

This is one of the best albums ever!!

The most acclaimed Hard Rock album, with a charismatic closing track. Fav Track: When the Leeve Breaks

Hard to fault tbh. Stairway, Rock'n'Roll, Levee, plus lots of lesser known tracks that are epic in different ways. 4.5

An absolute classic of rock music. You can hear that Led Zeppelin sometimes drift into proggier territories and that is right so. They have a talent of bringing the right pieces together with every band member with talent in its own right.

Easy 5/5. One of the biggest and most influential bands of a generation.

oh darn I have to listen to the greatest rock band's best album

Arguably the greatest rock album of all time.

- Now we're finally getting to the good stuff - An iconic album by an iconic band - Insane vocals and instruments that all blend together insanely well - So good that Greta Van Fleet made a whole career by ripping them off - RIP John Bonham - Favorite songs: all of them

Not a single bad thing to say about this album. Absolute perfection. Some of Zeppelin’s best songs and, needless to say, Stairway is one of the best songs of all time. The whole thing is so innovative, while still remaining grounded. 5/5

What can I say that hasn't already been said; this may be the greatest set of tracks ever recorded. For fuck's sake, I have one of the four symbols tattooed on me! Can I give it more than 5 stars?

Possibly the greatest album of all time.

One of my favorite albums of all time. I first heard about it from the movie Fast times at Ridgemont High. it did not disappoint.

ok ok ok ok

Rock and Roll perfection.

Best led zeppelin album. It has hits from front to back. Album as a whole is a classic

Listened to this too much already, favorite Led Zeppelin album. 10/10

Trop bon, du début jusqu'à la fin. Un vrai classique. 5

Remember when I said on the Physical Graffiti review Led Zeppelin would probably have a 5 star album somewhere? Probably not, but it came sooner than expected. It’s not a moving listening experience of self-discovery, but what it is is really good music. These 8 songs are so great throughout. I have it on vinyl, and the mid-album climax ‘Stairway to Heaven’ works the best when closing a side.

Stairway to heaven was one of my first introductions to 70s rock and I always skipped to the guitar solo like I'm sure every other 12 year old did as well. Black dog was probably the second song that got me into led zeppelin in general and it was fun to finally hear the rest of the tracks from beginning to end. There's a reason I was highly influenced by some of the songs on this album because the whole thing is just great and is equal to if not better than led zeppelin 2.

10/10 Gorgeous record and LZ’s best

Blown away. I never vibed to Zeppelin the way I did other bands, but maybe it’s their complexity and genius that made them far harder to access than the simplicity of say AC/DC. The musicianship is unparalleled. All 4 are virtuosos showing mastery of their crafts on this album. Every facet of the album has hidden meaning and stories and inspiration, giving the listener and fan a lifetime of adventure in finding all of the treasures. Half the songs are masterpieces, half are super high quality. Run time is perfect. Production is iconic. Their best album and one of the best to exist in the genre making Led probably the most influential rock group ever.

Definitely their best album so far and surely a big influence on much of the rock that came afterwards, however personally Led Zeppelin continue to not hit the sweetspot for me and what I like most in rock

Have listened to this album from front to back since I was 13. Just an incredible journey.

This album's in a category of its own. I was raised on this. Brings back great memories of my childhood. Banger after banger after banger. Love it.

Amazing album - love every song 10/10

All time classic.

Önnur frábær Zeppelin plata. Black Dog og Rock and roll eru flott en síst, restin er geggjuð. Fyndið að vilja hlusta aftur og aftur meira en þrjátíu árum eftir hún var í uppáhaldi.

It's always a nice day when you're adding your review from the previous day late at night, and then you get an absolute classic generated for the next day.

Vandaag bij “Gras is Groen”: Iconisch album is iconisch! Fantastisch album, ongeëvenaard goed.

This is one of my all time favorite albums. I might be biased because I listened this so much as a kid. It was literally my introduction not only to rock and roll but the first album I liked of my own accord rather than something my parents played for me in the car. Such great guitar riffs, fat drumming and of course Robert Plant’s voice is incredible

Another one that I haven’t listened to straight through for a very long time. As great as I remember it. Powerhouse opening with Black Dog and Rock and Roll. Of course the side 1 closer is one of the greatest hard rock songs ever. Even the quieter songs stand out as being right. After hearing almost a quarter of the list from the book , about time!

An absolute classic. As much as I’ve heard it, the end of “Stairway to Heaven” is simply exceptional and one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded. Here we have white Brits playing the blues, but bringing something truly original to it and taking the genres of both blues and rock further. The rest of the tracks are pretty great too.

One of the greatest albums ever. Solid all the way through. Sitting on the train blasting it through my EarPods too loud enjoying every minute.

5/5 Stairway, going to Cali, Misti... Black fucking Dog!!! YES!

Hyvä albumi, Deluxen olin kuunnellut tämä oli sitten vain se 42 minuuttia. Parhaat minuutit tietenkin ne kahdeksan siinä.

Led Zeppelin IV. Maybe the most beloved Zeppellin album, and, after really listening hard to this album this time, I can see why. Personally, I enjoyed the experimenting with styles that went on in Led Zeppelin III more, but this is just the perfect straight rock album (though I love the bluesy song 'When the Levee Breaks'). Also, I'm sorry, did he say 'Ringwraiths' in 'The Battle of Evermore???' First time I listened to the lyrics and it's about the freaking Lord of the Rings?? Hell yeah!

Great album. Songs are just so catchy and so great. It’s hard to dislike this album. 9/10

A master piece

Finally, some Zeppelin! Not my personal favorite Led Zeppelin album, but still one of the best albums of all time.

We're talking about stairway to heaven here

AMAZING

Timeless classic. Great rock sound

One of the best albums ever, with at least three of the best songs ever, by one of the best bands ever, with each member being one of the best in ther role. Never going to be any less than 5!

Hands down, one of the best albums of all time. This was the one that introduced me to Zeppelin, and I never looked back.

Classic.

This is The rock album. There are many before it and many after it but this was the pinnacle of rock. The only drawback is the battle of evermore. It’s not bad at all just kinda goes off page from the rest of the album even though it builds into stairway to heaven. Which is one of the most overplayed songs but because it is so good. All the songs on this album aside from the previously mentioned are classics and could carry any album in their own. To have them all on one is amazing. This is the best rock album made. And unfortunately it won’t be topped. 9.7/10

No comments needed

Rock masterpiece.

There are Rock Gods and Rock Legends but these 4 are more. LZIV is the holy grail. No one else can achieve this.

The pinnacle of classic rock

Ah yes I expected that one

Almost too good for its own good. One can make a case that I - III are better records for having a few rough edges, that make them seem the more authentic and relatable for being imperfect (though in quite slight ways). Here the pursuit of perfection is almost eerily effective. “Black Dog” and “Rock and Roll” are well-honed and well-targeted products – top-class offerings, mind, but with a market-tested feel, alas. Much depends on one’s ability to listen to “Stairway to Heaven” without irony. The song is perfectly structured – again, almost to a fault. But it builds so powerfully, one section at a time, and the playing, solos and vocals are all top-drawer. Every mega-hit suffers from ubiquity; many become outright unlistenable, others just give up their significance. “Stairway” is like Stonehenge, however, retaining a powerful aura, and a sense of mystery despite its familiarity. The most-played song in US radio history for a reason – for once the market got it absolutely right. All one has to do is listen to it as is, not as the world has come to see it (or one perceives the world has come to see it). There’s much other richness, of course. The transition from the solemn and almost-too-serious ending of “Stairway” to the loose bouncy “Misty Mountain Hop” is ideal – would it have been more pronounced in flipping over a record or is it stronger on streaming, where it’s immediately subsequent? – and reminds us how actually, you know, fun, Zeppelin could be. “Goin’ to California” is a gem, moving and gorgeous and heartfelt, and no more undersold than “Stairway;” Zeppelin of this era could seemingly do it all at the highest level. “Return to Evermore” and “Levee Breaks” are both extremely good songs that seem a little less so by all the excellence around them – they are a comfort for being easy to listen to. If this is filler, there’s never been better. One can call them dinosaurs or cliched or feel embarrassed for liking them – as one often has and does, still – but there are few better records than this (Zeppelin made a few of the candidates, too) and their I - IV remains unparalleled as a run of quality in rock annals. Period.

Easy 5 stars, added every song to the playlist. Led Zeppelin are the GOAT and this album is stacked.

Although I'm not a huge fan of tracks light Misty Mountain Hop you can't deny an album with Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven AND When the Levee Breaks 5 stars. On this re-listen, I really appreciated Page's production, especially the reversed guitar at the end.

front to back masterpiece with some real underrated gems. four sticks is a highlight

Zeppelin sounds better to me on vinyl, so I use this while streaming albums: https://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/dustyScratchedVinylNoiseGenerator.php

Unbelievable

5/5. There are only a few albums I have heard in my life that are as good as this one.

Fantastic, start to finish!

First time I really listened to Stairway in a lot of years. And I’ll be damned if it’s good, but not like legendary? I can’t believe what I’m saying. Still great end to end though.

A worthy inclusion on the list, even if my fave Zeppelin song (Immigrant Song, natch) isn’t on this album.

Amazing

What a piece of work. Every track is astonishing but with Rock &Roll as an unbelievably exuberant joyful, deceptively simple but as intricate as a Swiss watch stand out.

5-stars

The best álbum

And we have the winner! Every song on this album is as good or better than any song on the 1001 list I’ve heard so far. Epic songwriting, vocals, bass, drums and guitars all at their peak on this album during Rocks’ coming-of-age era. Somewhere between a very strong 5 and and a 5+++

Don't even have to listen before giving it a 5, but I still will.

Loved it

After 533, I just listened to the best album so far.

Hell yeah

Bangers

4.5/5. Fantastic, Black Dog and Rock and Roll are both my types, Stairway to Heaven is unimpeachable, When the Levee Breaks is one of my favorite endings. Besides, the album has an artistic cover. Love it.

Absolute rocker of a classic. All of the radio tunes have been played over and over with good reason, but all of the other tracks deserve a fair amount of play too

Classic

THE album - enough said.

I'm not the world's biggest Led Zeppelin fan but this is undeniably awesome

One of the best albums of all time.

An all time great.

Probably enough has been said about this masterpiece of Rock n Roll history. Talented musicianship matched with precise screeching vocals. Still holds its own as one of the best rock albums ever recorded.

Very good

I probably haven't listened to this album since college, but it's still one of my favorites. I wouldn't list every track as one of my favorites, but I can appreciate how wonderful each song on here is. Going to California is probably still my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Listening to this makes me want to go back through their discography.

Zep in their pomp. Spectacular album, and one of my all time favourites.
